Craziest Sounding Porsche 981 Boxster with VR Tuned

When you think incredible exhaust sounds, you usually think of a Ferrari V8 or V12. You must definitely would think of a Lamborghini Huracan V10 or Murcielago V12. But would you have thought of a Porsche Boxster with a 2.7L 6cylinder flat-6 engine? Well that is what this has with some upgraded parts from us here at Vivid Racing. This Porsche Boxster if from the 981 generation which was produced from 2012 to 2016 as a 2.7L and 3.4L except the GT4 which was a 3.8L. This was the final year the Cayman and Boxster would be a Normally Aspirated engine as in 2017 the car chassis was changed to the 718 and became turbocharged. As an NA motor, the sounds produced from the flat-6 engine had an incredible tone, but was harder to gain performance compared to the turbo models. To further enhance the usual docile sound of a Cayman/Boxster to meet the needs of the general population, this Porsche was upgraded with a complete straight pipe exhaust system and a VR Tuned ECU Flash.

Exhaust systems for the Porsche Boxster 981 are designed to increase torque and help it breath to keep pulling to redline. To achieve this, you must do a header and muffler setup. Most 981 exhaust systems feature new over axle pipes which eliminate the 2nd catalytic converter. The primary catalytic converter is on the headers and when you do this as a full race setup, the sound and performance comes alive! There are many popular brands when it comes to doing an exhaust on the Porsche 981 Boxster or Cayman. Because most of these exhausts are modular to work with the stock headers, you can mix and match brands between the exhaust and headers depending on price. If you need to maintain your factory emissions, then we recommend getting a set of headers with high flow cats. These will still help improve performance and sound, but not be as loud as a straight piped exhaust.

Wait wait wait. Yes I do agree with the obstacle thing but aren't y'all seeing camera angles? I thought writing was about trying to put the movie in my head into words because as you said yourself, we don't get to make movies.

I mean yeah sometimes it's about enjoying language itself and enjoying that I can show things that are very hard to communicate via film. So like I am aware that writing is a very different art form and has its own perks.

I'm just... like, what are we supposed to do? You're right, we don't get to make movies, but the alternative is that people who see their story ideas as movies should just. Give up and not think about them I guess. Your imagination wants to create things in an art form that you don't have access to so just stop having creative thoughts. Definitely don't try to make a different kind of art cuz you're doing it wrong.

i think people who complain about paragraphs being too long should just read/write screenplays instead. some of us actually enjoy reading

In 2022, car enthusiasts all over the United States were anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Nissan Z. In the new Z, not 400Z, it seems Nissan answered all of our prayers. Equipped with a 3.0L VR30DDTT Twin Turbo V6 and a 6 speed FS6R31 manual transmission, the new Z34 (Kouki Z34) seemed to fill all the gaps Nissan left in the Zenki Z34 and R35 that left true drivers wanting more. With a power output at an even 400hp (298kw; 406ps) and 350 ftlbs (475 N-m 48 kg-m) of torque, the new Z34 was unlike any of its predecessors and a breath of fresh air in the middle of the ‘Sports Car Electrification Movement’. Nissan then broke some hearts, mine included, when they announced the 420hp, 384ftlb Z34 Nismo would be equipped with a rebadged Mercedes 9G-Tronic automatic transmission manufactured under Jatco as the JR913E and that there would be no manual option for the Nismo Z. Their reasoning: Even with more power, the automatic sport model would be faster in the ¼ mile than a manual Nismo, and they feared consumers would care.

Fast forward to release day, and the reasonably priced Nissan Z saw dealer markups of over $70,000 over MSRP on what could be Nissan’s final true sports car. Somehow, clout and fear of missing out beat common sense and they sold like hotcakes. So much so, that as of the writing of this article, the least expensive USED Nissan Z on the market is being offered at $7,000 above NEW MSRP. Now to bring it all into perspective, if you were an early buyer of a Nissan Z, you’re punching in Audi RS5 Coupe, BMW M4 Competition xDrive, and C8 Corvette territory price-wise, except you likely have cloth seats, less power, and are a good deal slower from 0-60 than your newly priced out competition… and the EFI scientist here at Vivid Racing just can’t let you go out like that.

While we have options for your interior woes, and styling upgrades that make the car look the part of the markup, we were focused on two things and two things only: horsepower and torque… and drivability (I’m aware that’s three things). When this Two-tone Ikazuchi Yellow Tricoat / Super Black Kouki Z34 rolled into our dyno lab, we were impressed. It put down an underrated 405hp and 475ftlbs of torque through the automatic transmission, which was more than we all expected. Immediately wanting to unlock the ECU and start our flash process, the customer let us know the factory warranty was very important to him and that he would like to keep it. Either ship of theseus conversion of their brain or taking a scan while holding their hand.

Starting the print for their brand new skeleton, nerves, and the tooling for molding their soft features.

Watching their body slowly coalesce from different lentil-like plastic pellets used artfully and intentionally.

Installing and sealing their brain into their skeleton, so they can feel and enjoy the process of being freed from their soluble support structure.

Manually washing them down with solvents to melt away all the support scaffolding, freeing up their joints for the very first time and testing their range of motion before they even have their motors installed.

Taking them out of the spray down station and dutifully bolting each of their motors in place, crimping ferrules onto the leads, and connecting their motors and encoders for the very first time.

Giving them a few moments to amble around on their own, doing the pre-overmolding checklist to ensure they can hold the right position as their soft features are molded on.

Headcanon that Dani and VR-LA make up the craziest things when anyone asks them what kind of things they did before Finbar joined the crew. Some things they say say are so outlandish they have to be false, but some things are just realistic enough that Finbar is scared they might be true. And they are so in tune with each other too. One of them will start telling an absolutely bonkers story that has to be made up and the other will just agree and add in things so well it really seems like they’re remembering a true event. They even sometimes make references to crazy things that happened before unprompted, and Kyana and Finbar are very concerned. Any time someone asks if they are lying they, without fail respond with “idk what you’re talking about, I’ve never lied in my life” Kyana and Finbar have no idea this whole thing is a joke or not

Half Life VR but the AI are Self-Aware was put out by Studio TV Solutions in 2020 and destroyed the box office with how fun it was and how well the cast played off one another. The cast was given a general outline for the script with the goal for it to be mostly improv.

Gordon Freeman: Mannie Flores (Dominican American, age 28, he/him) - Popular Youtuber/Twitch streamer (“Radi0Mann”). Got offered the role in HLVRAI thanks to the creative things he’s done in his Youtube/Twitch career. This is his first “official” acting gig. He was pretty starstruck at first, but then as he got to know everyone, he realized they’re all a bunch of dorks (affectionate). - Started off as a gaming channel, but then started branching off into various creative endeavors as he got more popular. He still plays games too though. - One of the things Mannie did in his internet career that hit the mainstream was when he wrote, directed, starred in, and filmed his own movie in just 2 weeks because he failed a bet with his audience. Except the movie was actually really good and funny and heartfelt (i want to say it was about “a man who got left behind on earth after everyone else was raptured because god literally forgot about him”, but i think the concept might’ve been done already). - Met Benji through HLVRAI. They hit it off and now they’re dating. They tried to keep it secret for a while but Mannie had a slip-up during a stream that sort of blew it out of the water.

Benrey: Benji Song (Japanese/Chinese, age 30, he/they) - Started off as a film sound designer in the industry, then through a series of silly willy little events—possibly even shenanigans—got roped into a role in a passion indie film that became wildly acclaimed and flung him into the spotlight. Been an actor ever since, but isn’t the most proactive in taking jobs much to their agent’s annoyance. People never know where he’ll pop up next. Sometimes Benji will sneak in sound designer work behind their agent’s back. - Honestly likes background work more because everyone’s got these expectations of them as an actor that they feel pressured to meet. But he’s also afraid of disappointing people. He’s working on it. - Met their partner Mannie through HLVRAI. Totally was a fan of his streams/videos beforehand though. When they mention that, Mannie gets flustered. - Does music as a hobby. Electronic stuff mostly—enjoys mashing together all sorts of sounds and trying to make them work. After HLVRAI, Mannie’s streams gets cool new music that’s made by somebody going by “johnwicklover1994.” wink

Harold Coomer: Hau’oli “Hau” Kaleo-Kirchhoff (Hawaiian/Samoan, age 66, he/him) - Old musician who’s supposed to be retired but once in a while will release a song or even do a concert (but nothing crazy). - Hau’oli is pronounced [hh-ow-oh-lee], but he also goes by “Hau” for the haoles’ sake. :) Kaleo is [kah-leh-oh]. also Hau’oli sounds a little bit like the name Holly so that’s a fun coincidence i didn’t realize until later. - Most of his music is chill island tunes but he has been known to dabble in rock and jazz. - Married to Mose (been together for 30 years and counting).

Bubby: Mose Kaleo-Kirchhoff (German, age 69 [nice], xe/him) - Veteran actor—been in the acting industry for a long time. One of his more well-known roles was in a popular sci-fi series. - Married to Hau’oli (they got married the moment it was legal). - i went with a name that started with “M” cuz when Gordon first asks Bubby for his name, xe’s like, “mmm Bubby.” and i headcanon it’s because Mose was about to say xir own name and had to swerve last minute and the thing his brain resorted to was Bubby lol.

Tommy Coolatta: Luis Tanglao (Filipino, age 37, he/they) - Child star who dropped out of the industry when he hit his teens and then came back years later as a comedian. He has material about how fucked up being a child star was. Will only take acting roles if it interests them. - They don’t care about how the public/media sees him. He’ll speak his mind and call out BS when he sees it. Interviewing them can be a war zone. - Hosts a popular podcast with some buds they discuss things like video games, their lives, news, etc. Just shooting the shit. - Sunkist is their actual dog and she modeled for the png photo that was used. Her name is actually Biko. She is a very good girl. <3

Darnold Pepper: Sage Haven (African American, age 40, he/her/they) - Famous cooking show host who gets offered roles in movies. Got popular by how unconventional her meals and cooking methods are and how funny he is. - Has had multiple food/cooking/baking shows over the years. Every competition-based one they’ve had focused more on good vibes, fun, and encouraging one another rather than drama. One show involved people competing to see who could make the best full course meal with the catch being they could only cook everything in a microwave. Many microwaves perished. - Changed their name to Sage Haven during their transition. They chose it because it reflects his passion and also is a play on the phrase “safe haven”, which is what she wants to be to others. - He has an adoptive daughter named Kit. She helped them think up bits and jokes. She also had to help explain what Half-Life was.

haven’t gotten to gman and forzen’s actors yet unfortunately. thinking gman’s actor could be a talk show host? because that would be funny. anyway thanks for humoring me on my shenanigans. bye
