I don't know if it's Canon or not but I'd love it if Dark magic took a physical toll on your body if not legitimately takes years off your life as a sorta contract.

Like some spells have a toll attached in whatever tome or book they are written in. 2, 5, 10, 20 years etc. Depends on the severity of the spell.

Some spells don't take life precisely but take quality of life. Some spells curse you with bad knees, poor vision, impotence, inability to taste/smell etc. (of course said more regally/middle aged lol)

Viren was just going through life in unending pain no wonder he's a dick lmao, I like the thought of Callum getting bad vision or bad knees because of his time with dark magic.

Pulled this Dragon Prince fanart off the eternal WIP pile four years after I started it [itsbeenfouryearsohgodhowww] - a little what-if of Viren and Harrow fighting together before all the events that tore them apart! Also incorporating some now-old fanon about Viren having a bum leg, so I... Skyrim'd him. I'm severely behind on DP now, but the Viren and Harrow dynamic and all the pitfalls therein is probably what still holds the most interest for me - just can't resist Hubristically Doomed Middle-Aged Men, I guess xD

Of course being set before Certain Events means Amaya AND Sarai can hold the braincell and dive in to save these idiots from whatever situation they've gotten themselves into!

How the families from The Dragon Prince would dress for Halloween 🎃✨️

Just because I started seeing some of these on Pinterest, and thought it would be a good idea.

1. The Royal Family of Katolis (a.k.a Harrow, Sarai, Callum and Ezran):

2. I also thought about what it would be like with Sarai, Callum and Damien (Callum's biological father):

(And let's be honest, they all would absolutely ROCK with those costumes)

4. The Moonfam (a.k.a Tiadrin, Lain, Runaan, Ethari and Rayla): By the way, this would be baby Rayla's first Halloween.

So: Lain would be the one to suggest the Power Rangers theme; Tiadrin and Ethari would happily agree to the idea, and Runaan would (probably) be persuaded by the cuteness of baby Rayla.

5. Kosmo and Astrid: Let's just...leave THAT specific scene aside, okay?

I wrote Part I of a self-indulgent fic about Sarai and Soren based on my post detailing my headcanons. If you like the excerpt below, feel free to read and support the rest of it here on AO3!

Sarai lay in the bed, watching the royal physician closely as he examined the frail boy held in her arms. From the corner of her eye, she could see Lord Viren and Lady Lissa across the room with their hands interlocked, knuckles white with tension. No one said a word as the doctor placed a device against the child’s bare chest and brought it to his ear to listen. Not that he needed the instrument, in Sarai’s opinion. Every shaky breath that little Soren took was accompanied by a thick, crackling sound. The Head Crownguard gently ran a hand across the boy’s head to wipe away the feverish sweat that plastered the golden locks to his forehead. Soren was none the wiser of the movement around him, eyes screwed shut in a restless slumber.

Occasionally, one of Sarai’s recruits would ask her why she spent so much time cooped up in the bedroom of the High Mage’s son. She’d answer curtly that as a Crownguard, it was her duty to aid the people of Katolis in whatever way she could, including High Mage Viren and his family. Who was Sarai to deny a sick child company, especially when he asked so nicely?

It was no secret that Soren adored Sarai. She saw the way his face lit up when she walked through the door. On the good days, she’d play with him while his parents attended court or spent time with their daughter. Soren would grab his toy sword, and Sarai would grab his little dragon plushie, and they would take turns chasing each other around the room, playfighting.

During the bad days, she’d lay on the bed with Soren and tell him about the Crownguard. Sarai ensured that Soren knew he wasn’t expected to make conversation, or even keep his eyes open. She just spoke, and he listened or tried to sleep – and the only response to her stories would be the sound of soft wheezing. Sarai would stay with Soren long after he fell asleep, only getting up when his parents returned to take her place at his side.

Harrow, Lady Justice bless him, would check on her after every visit with Soren. He knew her history with the breathing sickness and how it affected her. She’d, of course, politely assure him that she was well and thank him for keeping an eye on Callum while she was unavailable. They’d stroll through the halls, and Harrow would tell her all about which area of the castle he had helped Callum explore that day.

Dragon Prince Conspiracy Theory

Avizandum didn't kill Sarai.

She's dead, to be sure, but we don't actually witness her death. She and Viren are thrown from her horse at the same time, and somehow he survives with only mild bruising, and she is killed?

Avizandum didn't kill her. Viren did. That's why he has her last breath stored in a bottle to use to whip Harrow up into a rage again years later.

Viren killed her because she had become inconvenient to him. Harrow was listening to her over Viren, and it was making him harder to manipulate. Before Sarai, Harrow wouldn't have hesitated to agree to Viren's plan with the Magma Titan. So he had to get rid of her, before he lost control of Harrow.

He also wasn't planning on killing Harrow in the pilot of the show. He didn't decide to kill him and outright take the throne for himself until Harrow put him on his knees in Moonrise, and he realized it was over. Harrow had realized he was being manipulated and wasn't going to stand for it anymore. That's why he switched Harrow's soul out with Pip's, but then proceeded not to lift a single finger to help Soren and the Crownguard defend the room. He wanted the elves to succeed, and he had no intention of restoring Harrow's soul to a human body. Rayla escaping with the boys and the egg threw a wrench into his plans, and them stealing the egg is why he decided to have them killed. He realized they had already found the egg and decided he was an enemy, so he couldn't just groom Ezran into another puppet ruler.
