you have heard of the stanley cup playoffs but what about the
Connor* Playoffs
*(spelling varies)
ID and an explanation below the cut:
Title: (O’) Con(n)or Playoffs [2024-2025]
Connor Land (left/in red)
Bracket 1: Connor Hellebuyck (WPG) vs Logan O’Connor (COL)
Bracket 2: Kyle Connor (WPG) vs Connor Zary
Bracket 3: Connor McDavid (EDM) vs Connor Murphy (CHI)
Bracket 4: Connor Bedard (Chi) vs Conor Garland (VAN)
Connor Country (right/in blue)
Bracket 1: Connor McMichael (WSH) vs Connor Carrick (EDM)
Bracket 2: Connor Brown (EDM) vs Connor Clifton (BUF)
Bracket 3: Drew O’Connor (VAN) vs Connor Dewar (PIT)
Bracket 4: Conor Timmins (PIT) vs Conor Geekie (TBL)
Explanation:
so, I tried to keep it Eastern Conference vs Western Conference. But it sadly wasn’t an equal 8/8 split because the east only has 5 Connor’s compared to the west who has 11. So the guys who have played in the Eastern Conference before where moved from the West to east
Conor Geekie: Geekie is currently down in the AHL from Tampa but he played 49 games this season for Tampa so he gets put in the playoffs (and also I love conor and wanted to include him)
Connor Carrick: I just needed another connor that wasn’t goalie, Connor Ingram. Connor Ingram is currently not playing hockey due to mental health issues and I didn’t feel comfortable playing him so Connor Carrick gets the spot. (And even if Ingy was included he would be a commentator he is so funny)
Bracket set up: so I tried to follow the nhl playoff brackets but the divisions weren’t even close to equal so I just put random people in random places that’s why it seems so unfair for some players (*cough* connor land *cough*)
The conference titles. Connor Land and Connor Country exist mainly because i just needed a name because I could call it easy or west because it was a blend of east and west players. So you all get connor land and connor country, sorry

“mom said i’m only allowed to go if my siblings can tag along”: are the New Jersey Devils’ and the Vancouver Canucks scoreboards connected by the force of brotherly love?
it goes without saying that this is for FUN, i don’t know how to properly handle data but i tried my best and that’s enough for now and for me. english is not my first language so mistakes are due to be seen, you are welcome to correct me or ask me anything if doubts are presented.
hi. so first things first, let me introduce myself. i’m cassie, 23, a hardcore fangirl for 10+ years now and new to the hockey world (got into it late october). i’m a devils fan first and foremost, but i do occasionally watch some canucks and habs games (and that’s on me being in love with cole caufield and quinn hughes, because even though i love the game (#LGD), i also loOoOove the players <3).
i actually wrote three huge paragraphs explaining how i had this idea but i sound bsc so long story short let’s just say that it’s something that i’ve been noticing since late november:
whenever the devils and the canucks have games on the same day (or night, whatever you call it), they end up having the same outcome (as in W or L) more often than not. fast forward to mid january/2025, this analysis idea came to me in a dream. or, more specifically, that one moment before you go to bed where you start making up fake scenarios in your head but they get progressively worse and unhinged cause you’re tired af and on the brink of hallucinating. so here i am trying to find out if there’s a ‘bro code’ type of trend behind the nhl.
out of their 26 shared game days, eighteen ended with the same result for both teams. they also won and lost an equal number of games: 9 each. coincidence? maybe. entertaining? absolutely. not safe to say that there’s a 69-ish% chance that they’re connected by the force of family in some way.
out of those games:
five were away for both of them - AA;
five were home for both of them - HH;
four were away (njd) and home (van) - AH;
four were home (njd) and away (van) - HA.
pretty consistent i’d say.
on the AA games we had:
oct. 17: NJD x OTT (3-1) & VAN x FLA (3-1)
nov. 23: NJD x WSH (3-2) & VAN x OTT (4-3)
nov. 29: NJD x DET (5-4) & VAN x BUF (4-3 OTW)
dec. 12: NJD x CBJ (4-2 L) & VAN x VGK (3-1 L)
dec. 31: NJD x ANA (3-2 L) & VAN x CGY (3-1 L)
but when it starts to sound like “this our place, we make the rules”, it looks a little like this (HH):
dec. 6: NJD x SEA (3-2) & VAN x CBJ (5-2)
dec. 8: NJD x COL (4-0 L) & VAN x TBL (4-2 L)
dec. 10: NJD x TOR (2-1 OTL) & VAN x STL (4-3 OTL)
dec. 12: NJD x LAK (3-1) & VAN x FLA (4-0)
dec. 23: NJD x NYR (5-0) & VAN x SJS (4-3)
and when your siblings get to travel around the US and Canada, but you’re stuck in Vancouver (AH):
oct. 15: NJD x CAR (4-2) & VAN x TBL (4-1)
nov. 12: NJD x FLA (4-1) & VAN x CGY (3-1)
dec. 28: NJD x CAR (5-2 L) & VAN x SEA (5-4 OTL)
jan. 16: NJD x TOR (4-3 OTL) & VAN x LAK (5-1 L)
but the world moves on and now you’re the one on a plane (HA):
nov. 7: NJD x MTL (5-3) & VAN x LAK (4-2)
nov. 27: NJD x STL (3-0 L) & VAN x PIT (5-4 L)
jan. 11: NJD x TBL (3-2 OTW) & VAN x TOR (3-0)
jan. 14: NJD x FLA (2-1 SO/L) & VAN x WPG (6-1 L)
that being said, when they are both away, their final results are pretty similar. in almost all of the games listed they had the same results or goal difference.
in HH, both teams scored 17 goals each throughout 5 games (3.4 GPG) in december only. happy hanukkah and merry christmas, i guess! also they lost in OT (dec. 10) to teams that are in the same conference as them, irrelevant, but i do feel the need to point it out. if you wanna know my opinion, jack ‘we are addicted to screen time’ hughes might probably be texting the bros gc “how do we feel about a double L tonight for our family?”. they might as well share one brain cell between the three of them
in AH the stats are the same, 17 goals each. when one of them had a OTL and other an L, the former team’s final scoreboard had a 2+ goals difference. and i just realized that dec 28 was a terrible day for both teams (for njd, it was that game where timo got a major penalty against necas and when van blew the 4-1 lead they had till literally the 5 min before the final whistle). YOLO i guess
literally have nothing to analyse on the NJ!home x VAN!away games besides the fact that they need to get their things together and play like professional athletes once again (opsies)
that all being said, you can’t tell me that those three aren’t a little bit sus. they aren’t triplets, but there might be some telepathic, sixth sense type of thing going on. #connected4lyfe #swag.
are there any other teams in the league that have been going through this or something similar in this season? i get too busy and overwhelmed keeping tabs on the devils (and occasionally van and habs) that i don’t really notice all the other 29 teams. or maybe i’m going insane. if so, let me know cause i’d love to dive into it, who knows what other strange parallels we might uncover till mid april?.
again, this literally means nothing, but i, personally, think it's lowkey funny (like giggling and kicking my feet as I write this) that both teams mirror each other’s results. and that's on hughes your daddy !!
xo,

In my head I like to think of all the nhl teams as a big extended family or whatever
like the original six are all siblings
then the expansion six five
then three sets of twins: VAN-BUF, CGY-NYI, NJD-WSH
then the WHA siblings: EDM, CAR, COL, ARI
then the 90s teams: SJS, OTT-TBL, ANA-FLA, NSH, WPG, CBJ-MIN
and then VGK and SEA with vegas as like the successful older sibling to seattle the baby
#flames are the islanders' twin sister to me#edmonton is like a cousin. dynasties next to each other and all

#22 JACK QUINN, unassisted
📍 BUF@WSH // 30.03.2025
[Video I.D. #6 Jakob Chychrun (Washington Capitals Forward) goes to take a shot, but is stripped of the puck by #22 Jack Quinn (Buffalo Sabres Forward). Quinn skates on a breakaway, accelerating towards the goal, and scores. He celebrates with teammates on the ice (important note is the way he smiles, soft and happy, at #77 JJ Peterka).
The video cuts to Chychrun going back to the Capitals bench.
Quinn skates past the Sabres bench, fist-bumping his teammates.
His goal is replayed in slow motion from a different angle.
Finally, Quinn is shown sitting back on the Sabres bench, breathing heavily. /End I.D.]

RANGERS ENTER AFFILIATION AGREEMENT WITH ECHL’S BLOOMINGTON BISON

By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the club has entered an affiliation agreement with the ECHL’s Bloomington Bison. The Bison will function as a development affiliate for the Rangers and their primary developmental affiliate, the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. “Entering an affiliation agreement with the ECHL’s newest team in the Bloomington Bison is an exciting opportunity for the New York Rangers,” said Rangers Assistant General Manager and Wolf Pack General Manager Ryan Martin. “We take pride in building our team with competitive players from our minor league affiliates. Bloomington, as well as the continued partnership of the Hartford Wolf Pack, will provide us with even more resources to succeed in developing our prospects.” The Bison will play home games at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, IL. The club’s inaugural season will be in 2024-25. Phillip Barski will serve as the head coach of the team. The native of Richmond Hill, ON, spent the last two seasons on the coaching staff of the OHL’s Barrie Colts. He served as an Assistant Coach during the 2022-23 season, then spent the 2023-24 campaign as the Associate Coach. Before joining the Colts, Barski spent two seasons as an Assistant Coach with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits. “This affiliation with such a celebrated franchise as the New York Rangers brings a new level of excitement and prestige to Bloomington,” said City Manager Jeff Jurgens. “We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will have on the city and the electrifying hockey it will bring to Grossinger Motors Arena.” While the Bison will play their first season in the ECHL starting in October, the city has a long hockey history. The Bloomington Prairie Thunder of the UHL/IHL (2006-2010) and CHL (2010-11) were the first professional teams to play out of the Central Illinois city. The Bloomington Blaze of the CHL (2011-2013) then took the spotlight before moving to the SPHL as the Bloomington Thunder (2013-14). The city has also been the home to junior hockey. The USHL’s Bloomington franchise was known as the Thunder from its inception in 2014 through the 2016-17 season. They were rebranded as the Central Illinois Flying Aces for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Notable Bloomington hockey alumni include forwards Mitchell Chaffee (USHL Thunder, TBL), Tyler Madden (USHL Flying Aces, LAK), and Walker Duehr (USHL Thunder, CGY), defensemen Wyatt Kalynuk (USHL Thunder, STL), Michael Callahan (USHL Flying Aces, BOS), Jeremy Davies (USHL Thunder, BUF), Brogan Rafferty (USHL Thunder, DET), Vince Pedrie (USHL Thunder), and Ryan Siedem (USHL Flying Aces, HFD), and goaltender Mitch Gibson (USHL Flying Aces, WSH). Kalynuk (2022-23), Pedrie (2016-17 – 2018-19), and Siedem (2023-24) all suited up for the Wolf Pack during their professional careers. Siedem is under contract with the club for the 2024-25 season. favorite current player from every team?
>:]
BOS - pasta (love hate relationship) (only bruin i can fully embrace when leafs arent playing them tbh)
BUF - i have few strong feelings towards most sabres but i think ras dahlin. because he sucks <3
DET - moris.... alex lyon close second tbh
FLA - sergei bobrovsky. see boston
MTL - slaykovsky (or arber maybe?)
OTT - claude.
TBL - this is a difficult one but my beautiful eyebrowless mother steven stamkos probably numero uno
TOR - auston (virgo)
CAR - seth jarvis, who is great because unlike the deep jock bro attitude that permeates seemingly every other hockey boy, or even the slight self-importance of the various and sundry catholic school types, he possesses the good-natured self-deprecation instincts of a right proper Normal Bitchass Gen Z
CBJ - i am a patrik laine shooter forever and always
NJD - nico. he's hot
NYR - igor because that man is both an elite goaltender AND a man with some of the most beautiful eyes on the planet. sympathies to my fellow only child of divorce artemi panarin also
NYI - barzy...?
PHI - if i didn't say teekay id be rounded up in the streets and shot. good thing it's teekay though
WSH - class of 15 instincts say dylan first overall pick disease and my dick say ovi
ARI - SOOOO hard to choose because i need firmly for alex kerfoot to know that i want him to come back to leafland but also clayton keller is out there... clay. picking clay
CHI - bedsy obviously. eyebrow twins <3
COL - good stick lehky the universe may be committed to making ppl forget about you constantly by making you get injured all the time. but EYE have not forgotten
DAL - wyatt johnston my english classmate <- before you ask. no i have never actually met this man it's a joke about him being my age and torontonian
MIN - flower
NSH - difficult choice... ror and evangelista both delights but juuse saros... juuse saros my beloved
STL - vladik tarasenko. he's still a blue in my HEART ok actual real answer is brayden schenn but i wish the blues tanked for and successfully got celebrini or bedard or something because like. their current Narrative Relevance is being "jordan binnington's team" and that's not a fate any hockey team deserves
WPG - i think we should ask hockey players who the most underrated player in the league is again but we should tell them beforehand if they pick sasha barkov they get pepper sprayed. anyway if im a hockey player in that situation im answering nik ehlers
ANA - that adorable child with the stutter leo carlson
CGY - naz
EDM - connie
LAK - kopi
SJS - it USED to be duke but now we can't have nice things (loving happy family etc) so purely because of various sharks and sharks-adjacent mutuals i have, im taking a hard turn into creaturehood and picking ekky
SEA - who is on this team
VAN - quinnifer always forever no doubt about it
VGK - the spiritual and transgender bond i share with jack eichel cannot be broken
