On mythological beasts, water that still springs from an ancient coffin, and an on-going promise

Every year on July 30th, people from Montboló and Arles (Northern Catalonia) do a procession whose main element is a wheel made of bee-wax. The origins of this procession are to thank the saint who freed the towns of the simiots, mythological beasts who once terrorized the area.
Simiots are a creature in Catalan mythology, a kind of magic hairy monkey that is sometimes considered half-wild and half-man. They are wild animals that live on trees in the mountains, and they are the ones who cause the summer sudden storms, and can also cause hailstorms, strong winds, dense mist, and other bad weather that leads to problems for the fields.
The story says that, around the year 1000, the simiots were out of the forests and ran wildly in the Tec valley, terrorizing the villagers from Arles: they attacked humans, took their children to eat them, and caused droughts, storms and hail that destroyed the harvests. Desperate, the abbot from the Arles monastery, who was called Arnulf, went to Rome to find some relics that could protect the town. He asked the Pope which saints could protect them from simiots, but the Pope did not know what these are and could not give an answer. Arnulf went to the catacombs, where many martyr saints were buried. He said a prayer and then saw how two tombs started glowing: the tombs of Saint Abdon and Saint Sennen. Arnulf followed this divine sign and got the Pope's permission to take the relics. To keep them safe during the long trip, he hid the bodies in a metal box, and each metal box inside a wine barrell filled with water.
He arrived by ship to Cap de Creus and made his way up on a mule to Arles. On the way, all the simiots they encountered ran away. When they reached Arles, he opened the barrels and then all the simiots yelled with a horrible sound and ran away.
Arnulf gave water for all the villagers who were there, and everyone who was ill and drank from that water got cured. The relics and the remaining water were placed in an old 4th-century sarcophagus that was in the town. A long time later, the relics were moved elsewhere, but the miraculous water still springs from that sarcophagus.

The simiots were banished from the area, but in 1465 a shepherd from Montboló (town near Arles) saw two witches invoking the simiots to cause a storm. He quickly went to get the Saint Abdon and Sennen relics and managed to stop the new catastrophe. Ever since then, every year on July 30th, the inhabitants of Montboló offer a 20-meter-long bee-wax candle rolled on itself in the shape of a wheel (rodella). They take it on a procession from Montboló, crossing the forests, arriving to Arles.
That day is a holiday with music and dancing, people buy little rodelles, and there are religious ceremonies. It's still traditional to drink a glass of water from the sarcophagus, in exchange for a few coins for the church. This water is said to be miraculous and medicinal.

Understanding the Factories Act in India: A Comprehensive Overview
The Factories Act, 1948, is a cornerstone of India’s labor legislation, designed to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of workers in industrial settings. Enacted to regulate working conditions in factories, this law applies to establishments employing 10 or more workers with power or 20 or more without power. As of 2025, it remains a critical framework for protecting millions of workers in industries ranging from manufacturing to textiles. This blog delves into the key provisions of the Factories Act, its significance, and its impact on workplaces across India.
The Act begins by defining a factory and its scope. It covers premises where manufacturing processes occur, including activities like processing, packing, or repairing goods. The definition is broad, encompassing diverse workplaces but excluding mines and railway sheds, which fall under separate laws. State governments can extend the Act’s coverage to smaller establishments, ensuring flexibility to address local needs.
A core objective of the Factories Act is to safeguard worker health. Employers must ensure clean and hygienic workplaces, with proper ventilation, adequate lighting, and safe drinking water. Overcrowding is prohibited, with a minimum space requirement of 14.2 cubic meters per worker. Factories must also manage dust, fumes, and other pollutants to prevent occupational diseases, particularly in industries like chemicals or cement.
Safety is another critical focus. The Act mandates safeguards for machinery, requiring secure fencing for moving parts like belts and gears. Workers handling hazardous processes, such as those involving toxic chemicals, must have personal protective equipment (PPE, and regular safety training. Factories with significant risks, like heavy machinery or high-pressure systems, must appoint qualified safety officers to monitor compliance. The law also regulates the use of dangerous substances, requiring clear labeling and emergency plans to mitigate risks like fires or gas leaks.
Welfare provisions form a significant part of the Act. Factories must provide washing facilities, restrooms, and first-aid boxes, with trained staff to handle medical emergencies. Larger factories, employing 250 or more workers, must maintain canteens offering affordable meals. For establishments with 150 or more employees, sheltered rest rooms are mandatory, giving workers a place to relax during breaks. In factories with over 30 female workers, creches are required for children under six, supporting working mothers.
The Act strictly regulates working hours to prevent exploitation. Adult workers cannot exceed 48 hours per week or 9 hours per day, with a daily rest interval of at least 30 minutes after 5 hours of continuous work. Overtime is permitted but requires worker consent and must be paid at twice the regular wage. The law prohibits overlapping shifts and ensures a weekly rest day, typically Sunday, to balance work and personal life.
Child labor is addressed with stringent measures. Children under 14 are banned from factory work, reflecting India’s commitment to child welfare. Adolescents aged 15 to 18 can work only with restrictions, requiring a fitness certificate and limited hours. These rules aim to keep young workers safe while allowing skill development in non-hazardous roles.
The Act also protects women workers, particularly regarding night shifts. Women cannot work between 7 PM and 6 AM unless special exemptions are granted by the state government, and only with adequate safety measures, like transport facilities. This provision balances gender-specific concerns with the need for equal employment opportunities.
Leave entitlements are worker-friendly. Employees who have completed 240 days of work in a year are entitled to one day of paid leave for every 20 days worked, typically around 12–15 days annually. This earned leave can be accumulated up to a limit, ensuring workers have time for rest and family without financial strain.
The Factories Act imposes responsibilities on employers, known as occupiers, to maintain compliance. They must register factories with state authorities and renew licenses periodically. Detailed records, including worker attendance, wage payments, and safety inspections, must be maintained for audits. Employers must also notify authorities of accidents causing serious injury or death within hours, enabling timely investigations to prevent recurrence.
Penalties for non-compliance are stringent to enforce adherence. Violations, such as unsafe working conditions or excessive working hours, can lead to fines up to ₹5 lakh or imprisonment for up to two years. Repeat offenses attract harsher penalties, underscoring the government’s commitment to worker protection.
The Act empowers state governments to appoint factory inspectors to monitor compliance. These officials conduct regular inspections, review records, and investigate complaints. They can issue improvement notices or prosecute non-compliant employers, acting as a check on workplace practices.
Over the years, the Factories Act has evolved through amendments to address modern challenges. For instance, recent updates have strengthened provisions for women’s safety and creche facilities, aligning with gender equality goals. However, enforcement remains a challenge, particularly in small-scale factories or unorganized sectors, where resources for inspections are limited.
The Factories Act’s significance lies in its holistic approach to worker welfare. By addressing health, safety, and working conditions, it creates a framework for humane and productive workplaces. For workers, it provides legal protections against exploitation, ensuring fair treatment and dignity. For employers, compliance fosters a motivated workforce and reduces risks of legal or operational disruptions.
In 2025, as India’s industrial landscape grows, the Factories Act remains relevant, though calls for reform persist. Some advocate for simplifying compliance to ease business operations, while others emphasize stronger enforcement to protect vulnerable workers. The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, aims to consolidate the Act with other labor laws, promising streamlined regulations, but its full implementation is still unfolding.
In conclusion, the Factories Act, 1948, is a vital pillar of India’s labor framework, balancing worker rights with industrial needs. Its provisions on safety, health, welfare, and working hours create a foundation for fair workplaces. While challenges like enforcement and modernization persist, the Act’s legacy is its enduring commitment to protecting India’s industrial workforce, ensuring they thrive in safe and dignified conditions.

Switchgear for Solar and Wind Projects in Bahrain: What You Need to Know
As Bahrain intensifies its commitment to renewable energy, solar and wind power projects are gaining momentum across the Kingdom. The nation’s Vision 2030 emphasizes sustainable growth, and this includes an ambitious target of generating 10% of electricity from renewable sources by 2035. As developers and investors gear up for this energy transition, one component plays a critical role in ensuring system safety, reliability, and efficiency — switchgear.
In this article, we explore why switchgear is crucial in solar and wind power systems, the specific requirements in Bahrain, and how to choose the right solution for your renewable energy project.
What is Switchgear and Why Does it Matter?
Switchgear is a general term covering a wide range of electrical devices used to isolate, protect, and control electrical circuits. It includes circuit breakers, fuses, relays, disconnectors, and load break switches.
In renewable energy systems, switchgear ensures:
· Safe disconnection of faulty or overloaded circuits
· Protection against overcurrent, short-circuit, and earth faults
· Efficient control and monitoring of power flow
· Coordination with grid and off-grid systems
Renewable Energy Growth in Bahrain
Bahrain’s sunny climate and strong coastal winds make it an ideal location for solar PV and wind power installations. Recent government initiatives — such as the Net Metering Scheme, Tendered Renewable Projects, and Green Building Regulations — are creating opportunities for both utility-scale and distributed renewable energy systems.
However, environmental factors such as high temperatures, humidity, and dust pose challenges for electrical equipment, particularly in outdoor solar and wind sites. This makes the right choice of switchgear even more important.
Key Switchgear Considerations for Solar Projects
In photovoltaic (PV) installations, switchgear must be compatible with DC (direct current) as well as AC (alternating current) systems. Here are specific points to consider:
1. DC Switchgear for PV Arrays
· DC Disconnectors: Isolate individual PV strings for maintenance or emergency shutdowns.
· DC Fuses and Circuit Breakers: Protect cables and components from over currents.
· String Combiner Boxes: Integrate multiple PV strings and incorporate protective devices.
2. AC Switchgear for Inverter Output
· Low-Voltage Circuit Breakers (AC): Used between inverters and transformers or grid connection points.
· Load Break Switches: Offer safe disconnection under load conditions.
· Metering and Monitoring Units: Allow real-time tracking of power output and faults.
3. Environmental Protection
· Use switchgear with IP65-rated enclosures to protect against dust and water ingress.
· UV-resistant materials are vital for long-term durability under the Bahraini sun.
Switchgear in Wind Energy Systems
Wind energy systems involve varying voltage levels and require robust protection due to fluctuating wind speeds and mechanical loading. Key switchgear elements include:
1. Medium Voltage Switchgear
· Used for interconnection between wind turbines and step-up transformers.
· SF6 or Vacuum Circuit Breakers: Provide arc quenching and insulation under high voltage.
2. High-Speed Protection
· Wind turbines are sensitive to voltage dips and transients. Fast-acting relays and breakers prevent equipment damage.
· Reactive power control and grid fault detection are integrated into switchgear assemblies.
3. Compact, Modular Designs
· Space constraints inside turbine towers or nacelles demand compact switchgear solutions with modular layouts.
Bahrain-Specific Compliance and Standards
To ensure your switchgear meets local utility and regulatory requirements, consider the following:
· EWA (Electricity & Water Authority) Requirements: All grid-connected systems must comply with EWA’s interconnection standards, including protection schemes and disconnection devices.
· IEC Standards: Switchgear must comply with relevant IEC 60947 (low-voltage switchgear) and IEC 62271 (high-voltage switchgear) guidelines.
· Thermal Rating and Ambient Temperature: Switchgear should be rated for continuous operation at temperatures up to 50°C, common in Bahraini summers.
Choosing the Right Switchgear Partner
A successful renewable energy project hinges on choosing a reliable switchgear partner. Look for:
· Local experience in Bahraini environmental and regulatory conditions
· Customizable solutions for both rooftop and utility-scale systems
· After-sales support including spares, maintenance, and system upgrades
· Smart switchgear with digital monitoring for preventive maintenance and remote control
Future Trends in Switchgear for Renewables
As solar and wind systems grow more advanced, so does switchgear technology. Key trends include:
· Digital Switchgear: Real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and IoT integration

I Shalt Need No Nots
Here we have them both, with their snotty Smoke on the Water (1972) riffs. Though Shalt Not (1992) and I Don't Need No Doctor (1971).
Although Kiss, in contrast to Humble Pie's raw live performance, make use of the multi-layered advantages of a Bob Ezrin production, this changes little in character, whereby one can undoubtedly take the measure of the other.
The chorus on Though Shalt Not feels like unmasking a declaration of power from a human authority to be doubted, with its index finger raised several meters high. On I Don't Need No Doctor, on the other hand, straightforward, highly concentrated energy thrusts out around itself like a chromatic laser mantra serving as protection shield from all judgmental measurement and preserve its own freedom-conscious wildness.
Both form their own center of gravity, the one, Kiss, is in predatory attack mode, while the other, the Humble Pies, keep themselves able to preemptively fend off anything potentially hostile around them from their own center and position.
The question of whether one could be superior to the other dissolves into a pleasing nothingness, and what remains is the realization that one is merely a left-hander and the other a right-hander.
In a boxing match against each other, both might land a few surprise blows, but in the end it would always end in a draw anyway.
Matured Gene at his best.

Possum Problems? Here’s How to Keep Your Home Possum-Free Legally

Possums are a unique part of Australia’s wildlife, essential to the ecosystem. However, when they invade homes, they can cause property damage, noise disturbances, and health concerns. Because possums are protected under Australian law, homeowners must take legal and humane steps to manage and prevent possum infestations.
This guide will explore the best legal methods for keeping your home possum-free while ensuring the ethical treatment of these native animals.
Understanding Possum Behavior
Possums are nocturnal marsupials that seek shelter in tree hollows, but as urban expansion continues, they often turn to residential roofs, attics, and sheds for shelter. The most common possum species that invade homes include:
Common Brushtail Possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) – A larger species known for its adaptability to urban environments.
Common Ringtail Possum (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) – A smaller possum that prefers nesting in dense foliage but can enter roof spaces.
Possums are territorial, meaning if one finds a way into your roof or backyard, it is likely to stay unless properly removed and deterred. They are also highly adaptable and can learn to avoid certain deterrents over time, making it necessary to use a combination of methods to keep them away.
Signs of a Possum Infestation
Homeowners dealing with possums may notice the following:
Loud scratching, thumping, and scurrying noises at night.
Droppings or urine stains in the attic or near entry points.
Chewed electrical wiring, insulation, or wooden structures.
Disturbed gardens with stripped trees and missing fruits or flowers.
An unpleasant musky odour caused by possum scent marking.
If you notice these signs, acting quickly to prevent further damage while following legal guidelines is important.
Legal Ways to Remove Possums from Your Property
Because possums are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975, it is illegal to harm, kill, or relocate them beyond a 50-meter radius from where they were captured. Homeowners must follow these steps to remove possums legally:
1. Identify and Seal Entry Points
Possums enter homes through gaps in roofs, vents, eaves, and broken tiles. Conduct a thorough inspection of your property and:
Seal any openings with sturdy materials like wire mesh or timber.
Repair any loose roof tiles, soffits, or holes that could serve as entry points.
Before sealing an entry point, check for existing possums to avoid trapping them inside.
2. Use a Licensed Possum Removal Expert
Hiring a licensed possum removal specialist is the safest and most legal option if you have a possum on your roof or attic. Professionals will:
Capture the possum using government-approved cage traps that minimize stress.
As the law requires, the possum should be released within 50 meters of the capture site.
Provide advice on securing entry points to prevent re-entry.
Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure no new possums take over the space.
3. Install Possum Nesting Boxes
Possums invade homes due to a lack of natural nesting sites. Providing an alternative shelter can encourage them to move away from your property. Install a possum nesting box in a nearby tree, making it an attractive and legal solution to redirect possums from your roof.
4. Apply Natural Deterrents
Several non-harmful deterrents can discourage possums from returning, such as:
Strong scents – Possums dislike the smell of garlic, peppermint oil, and camphor. Soak cotton balls in these substances and place them around entry points.
Motion-activated lights or sprinklers – Sudden light or water spray can startle possums and make your home less appealing.
Ultrasonic-repellent devices emit high-frequency sounds that deter possums but are harmless to pets and humans.
Commercial possum deterrent sprays contain natural ingredients designed to keep possums away from specific areas.
5. Maintain Your Garden to Deter Possums
Possums are attracted to food sources in gardens, including fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. To reduce their presence:
Secure garbage bins with tight-fitting lids to prevent scavenging.
Harvest ripe fruits promptly to avoid attracting possums.
Trim overhanging tree branches to prevent easy access to roofs.
Use netting on vegetable gardens and fruit trees to keep possums away.
Plant possum-repelling plants such as mint, geraniums, or chrysanthemums.
What NOT to Do When Dealing with Possums
Do not attempt to relocate possums more than 50 meters away. This is illegal and can distress the possum.
Do not use poisons or traps that could harm possums – These actions carry heavy penalties.
Do not block an entry point without confirming that the possum is out. Trapped possums can die inside your roof, creating further issues.
Do not ignore a possum problem – If left unchecked, possums can establish a long-term nesting site in your home.
Why Professional Possum Removal Services Are the Best Option
Handling possums legally and humanely requires expertise; this is where professional possum removal services come in. Benefits of hiring a licensed possum expert include:
Safe and humane capture methods that comply with wildlife laws.
Thorough inspections to identify and seal potential entry points.
Long-term deterrent solutions that prevent re-infestations.
Expert advice on keeping your home possum-free while respecting local wildlife regulations.
Preventative maintenance plans to ensure possums do not return in the future.
Choosing the Right Possum Removal Service
When selecting a professional possum removal service, look for:
Licensed and certified experts familiar with local wildlife laws.
Positive customer reviews and references to ensure reliability.
Humane and ethical removal techniques that align with legal guidelines.
Comprehensive follow-up support to prevent recurring issues.
Conclusion
Possums can be persistent invaders, but with the right legal strategies, you can keep your home possum-free while ensuring their safety. Sealing entry points, providing alternative nesting sites, using deterrents, and seeking professional removal services are all effective ways to manage possum problems without breaking the law.
By taking humane and legal action, homeowners can coexist peacefully with these fascinating creatures while securing their homes. If you need professional assistance, always rely on a licensed possum removal expert to handle the situation correctly and ethically.
Implementing these strategies will protect your home and contribute to the conservation of Australian wildlife by providing alternative shelter and minimizing human-wildlife conflicts. With the right balance of deterrence and ethical treatment, you can enjoy a possum-free home while respecting nature.

tkltober day 13: Sneak Attack
Demon Slayer - ler!Kanao, lee!Tanjiro
¸¸♬·¯·♩¸¸♪·¯·♫¸¸¸¸♫·¯·♪¸¸♩·¯·♬¸¸
The leaves didnʼt even rustle when she crouched down in the bushes to examine her target. He wasnʼt expecting anything yet and as long as the wind didnʼt decide to suddenly change direction and carry her scent over to him, sheʼd be fine.
Tanjiro likes you, that was what Shinobu had told her, and Why donʼt you try and get a little closer to him, that was the following question that had kicked off this mission in the first place.
Kanao watched as Tanjiro sat down on the grass to relax. Getting closer to someone was easier said than done, but luckily, she had learned a fool-proof method from Aoi. And given the information she had collected about Tanjiro so far, it would definitely work on him.
Six meters, five, four, three and a half. Her plan was clear; get close enough, then attack from above. Kanao examined the distance. Good.
By the time Tanjiro noticed that there was something coming, she had already jumped and was inches away from tackling him.
“WUAAAH- Kanao!”
She made herself comfortable on top of him and smiled down on him. She had obviously spooked him and they had tumbled a significant distance through the grass, she had to make sure he was alright. “Are you hurt?” And not mad at her. “I’m sorry if I scared you.”
“No no, I, uh, I’m good.” He looked up at her, his initial shock being replaced by pure confusion. “Uh… what are you doing?”
Right, the mission. Her voice shook ever so slightly when she answered - please, please let this work, please let him still like me after this. “I’m trying something new.”
“What do you meHEAN!” Tanjiro stared up at her with wide eyes, his mouth stretched into a wide smile and the laughter pouring out seemingly not under his control and his arms immediately came up to try and protect himself. “GEAHAHAHAHHH WHAHAHAHAT AHAHAHARE YOHOHOU- AHAHAHAHAH, KAHAHAHANAO!”
Oopsie, coming in a little strong. Kanao moved her scribbling fingers away from his tummy and went searching for a less ticklish spot. Aoi had told her that receiving tickles could become very exhausting very quickly and she didn’t want to power Tanjiro out so quickly, she wanted him to have fun too. Squeezing his sides didn’t seem to feel quite as ticklish to him, so she remained there and looked for any sign of discomfort on his face. Nothing, but checking in wouldn’t hurt. “Is this okay?”
“Whahat? Ihi- I mehehean I guehehehess- ihihihit tihihickles!”
“It’s supposed to.” Kanao felt a sort of relief wash over her. He was not suffering at least, that was good. It would be even better if he was really enjoying himself, which she was determined to achieve. “Please tell me immediately if this isn’t fun for you.”
Tanjiro seemed confused even through his giggles for a second, then her fingers found his ribs and a fresh wave of cackles distracted him enough to make all expressions unreadable. “Aeahahaha, Kahanahahao! Nahahat thehe- GAHAHAHAD, NAHAHAHT THEHE SPAHAHAHACES BETWEAHAHAHA!”
The anxiety flaring up inside Kanao’s chest nearly made her take her hands of, but then Tanjiro looked at her and even though his eyes were glistening, there was a twinkle in them which she had seen plenty of times before, when he was fooling around with his friends, when they served him his favorite food and when Nezuko came out of her box; he was happy. He was having fun. She had done it!
“If you insist.”
The shriek Tanjiro let out when she began to tickle his tummy again had to be loudest Kanao had ever heard him. Bravely, she slipped a single finger into his belly button.
“AIEEEEEE- KAHAHAHANAO, NOHOHOOOO! STAHAHAHAHAP, PLEHEHEHEASE, TOHOO MUHUHUHUCH! I CAHAHAHAHAN’T!” Tanjiro’s hand hit the ground and Kanao immediately stopped tickling him, quickly climbing off of him and handing him some water she had brought after he managed to sit up. She fiddled with her skirt as she watched him recover. The anxious feeling was back and she used the time he needed to catch his breath to muster up the courage to speak.
“Did I overdo it?”
“What?” Tanjiro looked at her. “No, not at all. You stopped when I told you to. You respected my limit, that’s the opposite of overdoing it.”
Kanao let out a sigh in relief. What a rollercoaster of emotions this was.
“Don’t worry about it, we’re good.” He tilted his head. “But why did you do it? That came out of nowhere.”
“Shinobu said you liked me. I want us to be friends and I thought… you always seem to have fun when your other friends do this with you.”
The surprise on Tanjiro’s face quickly melted away, transforming into a smile so warm it made Kanao’s heart dance. He carefully took her hand and squeezed it softly. “We are friends, Kanao. I’m happy you felt comfortable enough to do this with me, thank you. I had a lot of fun.”
“You really did?”
“Yes, I did.” Tanjiro chuckled. “Just give me a warning next time, okay?”
The warmth spreading in Kanao’s chest was a warmth she hadn’t felt in a long time. “Okay.”

-Short brown hair up to the shoulders, two pale golden-highlighted strands, pale skin, noticeable dark circles, large brown eyes; third-degree burns, now healed, on the right side of the face, from forehead to chin, with the right eye affected by the burn, resulting in blindness and slight loss of flesh on the right cheek area; thin arms covered with first-degree burns, scar "cross" shapes, and scratches from anxiety and past tortures, medium-sized hands, long, thin fingers with purple and reddish nails from the cold, large hips, long, curved legs covered with scars from falls and past tortures, average build, normal physical condition, and abnormally cold body temperature.
Diseases or Conditions:
-Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Theophobia (fear or rejection of religion or God), excessive religious intolerance (irrational hatred towards religious figures, images, buildings, prayers, and traditions, people who believe in religion, work in or hold a position in a church, temple, or holy place, such as nuns, priests, clergymen, bishops, pastors, etc.), intermittent explosive disorder, and minor hereditary heart problems.
Weapons Used:
-She uses firearms, a S&W Magnum Model 500, a Swiss army knife, and a hunting knife. If she does not have any weapons, she will use whatever is available to cause harm.
Skills:
-Excellent aim with any firearm, normal speed, normal agility, good balance, extremely stealthy and silent. Good at cooking, drawing, and singing.
Weaknesses:
-She can't run fast, is somewhat distracted, relies heavily on firearms, poor at hand-to-hand combat, stubborn, vengeful, resentful, very emotional, careless, and more prone to heart disease, which could worsen her health. If her face is exposed, she becomes more vulnerable and easier to attack.
Extras:
-She carries a small, old backpack with just a few survival items: a bottle of water, some energy bars, rolls of bandages, a box of band-aids, a small battery-powered flashlight, a lighter, and limited ammunition for her firearm. She enjoys drawing, cooking, and singing, though not often due to her lifestyle as a killer. Occasionally, she explains, shows, and practices traditions from her home country (Mexico), such as the Day of the Dead. She decorates random graves with cempasúchil flowers, papel picado, and candles as a form of well-being or placebo. She often has free time but doesn't rest, remaining alert. She constantly wonders how her life would have turned out if she hadn't become a killer, fantasizing about whether she might have become a judge like her father, had a family, partner, children, or pets.
Clothing:
-She wears a black balaclava with holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth, and over it, an old, yellowish-green mask with oxidized black spots, black tear-like marks under the eyes, and black lipstick, all to conceal her identity and hide her burn marks due to insecurity. Her outfit is similar to that of a nun, but with the shoulders exposed, which she herself cut. She wears two brown leather bracelets to protect her wrists and forearms, tight black pants, a brown leather corset to protect her abdomen, a knee-high leather belt with a holster for her revolver, light brown military-style boots, and a black hoodie with white edging, resembling a nun’s veil. Her intention is to mock, insult, and express her hatred and resentment towards nuns.
Modus Operandi:
-She typically targets nuns in vulnerable states who are alone, but also attacks priests, religious believers (both men and women), and sometimes burns churches to destroy any structural connection to religion. She avoids attacking infants, babies, or animals, as she does not direct her hatred toward them (although a traumatic event involved her accidentally killing a baby, which is why she avoids attacking children). She will make exceptions if someone (regardless of age) appears to be a threat to her, has seen her uncovered face, or has attempted to physically or verbally attack her. She has committed some contracted murders in search of money to survive, but that is not her primary interest.
Personality:
-She has a calm, serene, and slightly cold personality. She can be somewhat cheerful depending on her mood, enjoys joking occasionally, and acts elegantly, refined, with good manners, and cordiality (a personality she developed from her upbringing). This helps her appear more cruel and hateful. When she has an anxiety attack, is angry, or is in a situation where she attacks, she becomes impulsive, aggressive, swears, is stubborn, and does not assess the surrounding dangers. She has no fear of death (which makes her reckless with her physical health). She is tenacious, acts without thinking, enjoys torturing her victims, and delights in their suffering. She rarely shows affection, tends to have anxious attachment, is vengeful, and is guided by her emotions (with the most dominant being anger and revenge).
Nicknames:
-Since no one knows her real name or identity, she is called "Inquisitor," "False Nun," or "Santa Cruz" (the latter from blood writings found at a crime scene). Some people have developed a misguided sense of admiration for her, calling her "Art" or "Virgin of the Bullets."
Interpersonal Relationships:
-She was very close to her father, admired and respected him. Her relationship with her mother was non-existent, as she never felt affection for her since childhood. They constantly argued, which escalated to physical, mental, and verbal abuse by her mother. She was never a very sociable person, and the only relationship she has with someone outside of her family is with T. Joseph Rogers (Ticci-Toby), who was her friend in the past before both became killers. They reunited and decided to ally for better survival. Their relationship is complicated; sometimes they get along and treat each other as they did in the past, other times they act like a couple, but they have nothing formal due to their current situation. They often argue because both of them deal with mental disorders (and T. Rogers has more frequent anger attacks), which makes their coexistence toxic and escalating toward fatality.

A light blue shulker box filled with water breathing potions. Turtle helmets enchanted with water affinity. Armor with full protection. And not a word to the other hermits.
Since two days ago, the last time the two were at the shore, the wall of water rose even higher, casting a deep shadow over Doc and Grian. Grian readed out and touched the water. It was warm and smooth like silk. Doc could see little fish swim and take advantage of the new room. Some leered in the back of their minds. The Amorphous Ineffable was out there. Or maybe it wasn't. Maybe Scar something else, a squid or a... Um... A turtle? Those can be... Scary...
Neither of them stepped forward, even equipped with swords and tridents.
"Ladies first," Grian chuckled. Doc snorted, but neither of them were amused. They took out their first potion of water breathing and chugged it, stepping into the ocean.
They swam out further into the sea. Light glimmered down in beams around them. Fish swam and danced around them, and if they tried, they could pretend nothing was wrong at all. Though they could breath, they couldn't speak or hear well under water, so Doc just pointed down and Grian nodded.
They pushed down into the dark empty waters. After only descending a few meters, the fish disappeard and the squid swam freely.
That was when a black tentril reached up from the black to grab Doc. Grian grabbed Doc's arm, but both of them were dragged down at break neck speeds. Grian squeezed Doc's hand, but still he slipped. He managed to hold on until they were let go and let to float in the impossibly dark waters. Grian couldn't stop his breath from speeding up. Doc grabbed onto Grian and Grian hugged back, but they couldn't see each other. Until they could.
Blue light illuminated Doc and Grian's bodies as if a stadium spotlight was flicked on. They looked at the source and just barely made out that the spot lights were eyes. The slit pupil darted between the two, but it was so large the movement was barely perceivable.
Neither of them could tell what happened next, but they woke up, soaking wet on the shore where the ocean's wall had grown even taller.
