Hi Mel!! I just binged a ton of your Nass / Bellamy fics and aAAHH they are so good. Your world building is superb and your writing is beautiful ✨ Was hoping to ask 👀🎨 for them both if that’s not too much!! And maybe 💗 in relation to one another? Thanks so much for sharing them with us!
Omggggg Scatter!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! For reading and for the asks!!! This is like the biggest honour coming from you <3 Will happily answer the asks about my dumb guys!! It honestly helps to deepen their characters so thank you!! OK SO:
👀 Bellamy is allergic to a specific flower that grows in the southern and central provinces but not in the north. He's also allergic to cats and is really sensitive to scents. Also he's photic!!
🎨 I associate Bellamy with deep blues and forest greens and general earthy tones.
👀 Nass: Being raised in the desert and not used to certain faunas, especially in the central province, Nass has like really bad hayfever. He is also photic!
🎨 I associate Nass with reds, oranges, and deep purples. Both of their colour schemes reflect their elemental magic and core traits!!
💗 Bellamy is attracted to how passionate, fiery, and authentic Nass is. He likes how Nass always wears his heart on his sleeve and shows his emotions. Nass is always unapologetically himself even when he's messy, angry, or chaotic and Bellamy loves it. Masking and repression is a big part of Bellamy's character and his attraction to Nass is meant to be the total opposite of that. Their eventual relationship will slowly help Bellamy process and unlearn these behaviours and be more authentic. Also not to mention Nass is the physical opposite of Bellamy with dark skin, long straight hair and very different features which Bellamy loves.
💗 Nass is attracted to how calm, grounded and logical Bellamy is. As someone who always feels out of control, he's attracted to how Bellamy always keeps his cool and exercises great control over himself and his emotional reactivity. Despite his best efforts, Nass is really attracted to Bellamy's qualities shaped by Northern culture — Bellamy's politeness, wittiness, and razor sharp awareness of people, politics and situations. Bellamy is everything Nass is not, including Bellamy's physical appearance and Nass hates how much he loves it. Nass has a sneeze fetish and is also attracted to Bellamy in that way and fascinated by Bellamy's sneezing habits and cultural differences regarding illness but I digress LOL. A big part of Nass's character is his prejudice and hatred and anger for the North and its people. His eventual relationship with Bellamy is going to help Nass slowly unlearn those qualities.
#ok!! thank you so much for asking Scatter i think ive yapped enough#i am having so much fun exploring these characters through their opposite qualities#and the idea of control vs chaos#and fire vs water#and what happens when two people who should be enemies fall in love!! its messy and slow!!!#and how that will inform their characters and change both of them for the better#the world is very much inspired by northern spain and moroccos ancestral history and the relationship between these two populations#so thank you very much spain and morocco!! yall are way more similar than you'd ever admit!!#anyway will continue to write the Yekitiverse as a fkn snz novel HAHAHA#thanks to everyone reading my ramblings#love u all!#anyway#mel writes#snz fic#whump fic

Common Causes of Cross-Contamination in Restoration Environments
Cross-contamination occurs when contaminants spread from affected to unaffected areas during restoration. Key causes include:
Airborne Particles: Mold spores and bacteria can travel through HVAC systems or air movement.
Foot Traffic & Equipment: Workers and tools can carry contaminants across clean zones.
Water Migration: Contaminated water seeps into adjacent areas, spreading bacteria, mold, or chemicals.
Preventing cross-contamination requires proper containment, filtration, and sanitation practices.

Erosion Control and Auckland Council's Approach to Erosion and Sediment Management
Erosion control is a critical component of sustainable land management, particularly in urban areas like Auckland, where development can significantly impact the environment. The Auckland Council has recognized the importance of effective erosion and sediment control measures to protect waterways, preserve natural landscapes, and ensure the health of local ecosystems.
Understanding Erosion and Its Impact
Erosion is a natural process where soil and rock are worn away by wind, water, or ice. However, human activities, such as construction, land clearing, and deforestation, can exacerbate this process, leading to increased sediment runoff. Sediment can clog waterways, reduce water quality, and harm aquatic habitats. Moreover, erosion can compromise the structural integrity of buildings and infrastructure, resulting in costly repairs and environmental degradation.
Auckland Council's Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines
The Auckland Council has established comprehensive guidelines to address erosion and sediment control in the region. These guidelines aim to mitigate the impacts of erosion, protect water quality, and promote responsible land use. Here are some key elements of Auckland Council's approach:
1. Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCPs)
For any construction or land disturbance project, an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan (ESCP) is required. This plan outlines the measures that will be implemented to minimize erosion and sediment runoff. It must be tailored to the specific site conditions and activities, ensuring that appropriate control measures are in place before any work begins.
2. Best Management Practices (BMPs)
The Auckland Council promotes a range of best management practices (BMPs) for effective erosion and sediment control. These include:
Silt Fences: Temporary barriers made of geotextile fabric, installed to intercept sediment-laden runoff and prevent it from leaving the site.
Sediment Basins: These are designed to capture sediment from stormwater runoff, allowing it to settle before the water is released into nearby waterways.
Mulching and Hydro Mulching: Applying mulch or using hydroseeding techniques to stabilize soil and promote vegetation growth, which helps bind the soil and reduce erosion.
Vegetative Buffer Strips: Establishing buffer zones of vegetation around waterways to filter sediment and absorb runoff before it reaches sensitive areas.
3. Regular Monitoring and Maintenance
To ensure the effectiveness of erosion and sediment control measures, the Auckland Council emphasizes the need for regular monitoring and maintenance. This includes inspecting control measures during and after rain events, repairing any damaged infrastructure, and ensuring that vegetation is thriving.
4. Public Education and Engagement
The Auckland Council recognizes that community involvement is vital for successful erosion control. They provide educational resources and workshops to inform landowners, developers, and contractors about the importance of erosion and sediment control and how to implement effective practices on their properties.
Conclusion
Erosion control is essential for protecting Auckland's natural resources and ensuring the sustainability of its urban environment. By adhering to the Auckland Council's guidelines for erosion and sediment management, developers and landowners can contribute to preserving the region's waterways, reducing environmental impact, and promoting responsible land use practices. With the right measures in place, we can safeguard Auckland's landscapes for future generations while fostering a healthier ecosystem.

No matter whether AI does a good job at what it does or not, rage against the technology isn’t going to solve the labor issues. It isn’t going to stop artists and writers from losing their jobs. Whether it’s able to do the job adequately or not, it will be used to replace that job if all we do is protest against the technology itself. It will similarly do so if we rally around liberal principals like “copyright” and “intellectual property.” Most of the “intellectual property” belongs to conglomerates, not to intellectual laborers. The same if you misrepresent AIs water and energy consumption. None of these will get you anywhere productive, and some of them (“intellectual property”) even show a petty-bourgeoisie outlook.
Of course we should be concerned about small independent artists having their lives be less stable—even if it’s not our chief concern. Whether someone is an artisan proper or has some semi-proletarian characteristics (that is if they are working a side hustle to get by while they work on their passion project) that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take their interests into account, but it does need to come from an industrial proletarian perspective first and foremost. Who will get laid off if AI technology is adopted? Who will lose their income? These are far more primary than independent artists.
The industrial proletariat is the most concentrated and unified force we have. It is this force with which we can fight and win. If we want to fight and win on the subject of AI, it must be fought with the organized industrial proletariat. Unions represent one lower form of this fight. The higher form of this fight is a political leadership that can lead to political reforms and regulations being adopted by the government as concessions, or perhaps even AI and other means of production being seized by the proletariat and regulated and technologically improved by the proletariat.
#AI may such at making art and writing but it’s hard to say whether it fundamentally does so#it may be a tool for an artist or writer to use like a paintbrush in the future as the technology develops#or it may otherwise find other uses#the technology itself isn’t fundamentally bad#the class that currently controls that technology is the problem#if your criticisms are focused on the technology and not the class than your thinking is fundamentally in error#and if the technology improves your criticisms may not hold water anymore especially if they fixate too much on the quality of its output#technology iterates and improves#that may not be true any more in a few years#the water and energy consumption of this new technology will likely be down#it’s output will likely be of higher quality than it is now#make deeper critiques than aesthetic ones jfc#and stop looking at liberal ‘solutions’ which benefit only the owning class

I just found the cutest worm in my apple 🥺 it was a very nice orangey salmon pink and like 3 mm long
#Tbc it was an apple from the tree in our yard so it's 100% fine and normal to find a worm#Because the only quality control those apples go through is me looking at them and being like 'yeah that looks edible' and yoinking it off#But it was just funny because I was eating it while watering some plants so I wasn't paying attention to the apple#And I glanced down and this lil guy was just sitting where I had just bitten off a chunk lookin at me like 'bro wtf my house'#Anyway I fucking love nature and animals and there is so much biodiversity in one yard#I was going around kicking all the puffy dandelion heads to spread the seeds more#And I walked into one corner of the yard and looked down and the grass below was *teeming* with life#Like it looked like the plants were moving#Because there were so many little crickets hopping around#And also the echinacea is in full bloom surrounded by raspberries so there are So! Many! Bees!#They're all out here in their lil puffy sweaters!!#RHSLDHOKSBDHKSDHSK THE NATURAL WORLD IS SO FULL OF WONDER AND I AM SO FULL OF LOVE#Anyway shoutout to Coyote Peterson and the Brave Wilderness yt channel for making me be normal about bugs#Because to be clear I absolutely do still have a phobia of them#But! They're just so shaped!#Edit: sure hope that worm didn't have any roommates because if so. uh. I ate them :/#I'm pretty sure it was just the one though#It was right at the bottom in the like fuckin butthole of the apple (idk what it's called); it looked like it was full of dirt and goo#(which I assume is the worm's poop and other slime idk)#I thoroughly rinsed it off with the garden hose so we good

I happen to have the one day for the next week plus off that doesn't look like it'll be dummy rainy. I want to go do something outside. I just don't have the energy. The spoons are dirty in the sink and not free for me to use right now. And that makes me really depressed and now I can't get out of bed because I'm too sad to.
#i need to get a therapist but even doing that is too much work#my mom recently asked me when i go so lazy and I'm just like dude. I'm fighting my brain to not jump off a bridge at all times.#I'm not lazy. I'm fucking exhausted.#there's so much shit going wrong that i have no control over and then the things i can control seem much worse than they are#and so i don't do shit about them because i feel like i can't due to - again - the crushing ever present feeling of dread#i just want to be normal. i just want to have a functioning brain.#i want to make decisions i know aren't impulsive or done so i can feel anything at all#i want to be able to build relationships i don't immediately destroy before that other person can figure out how bad i am#my youngest sister always says I'm the only one in the family with my shit together. it's a facade. it's not even a good one.#I'm like if you cover the McDonald's logo with a high end restaurant's sign and pretend the quality is better because of it#i might appear like I'm doing things right. in reality I'm throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.#but at the end of the day I'm still just throwing shit and it makes me miserable#all i want is some stability. but there's none of that to be found in my brain.#no matter how hard i try i can't appear normal for more than a few months at a time#then i go back to fucking everything up for myself and watching as i become my own undoing again#i have to stick to strict routines or i cannot function. not in an autism way. in a literal way.#it's not that i get upset over changes to my routine. i have to keep it or i cannot get out of bed.#i got up early hoping to go kayaking today. it's sunny and warm. the water isn't crazy high. perfect day for it.#but i didn't immediately get out of bed. i stayed for a while. and now i can't leave.#if i don't immediately get out of bed upon waking i will not leave. if i don't shower immediately after i won't shower for days.#if i don't shower i don't brush my teeth or eat or make it to work or take care of my dog or do laundry or go to bed at a good time or clean#my entire existence relies on two specific actions as soon as i wake up. without those i have the world's hardest time getting moving.#i have to do all this before I've really woken up. once I'm awake my brain only wants the void.#but in that half sleep state i go on instinct. move and get shit done and then it's easier once i wake up.#other people don't have this problem. other people can decide to do a thing and do it.#I'm so fucked up that doing stuff i enjoy is an uphill battle. things that make me temporarily happy also make me miserable.#i want to be able to Do Things without feeling like I'm being shoved through a meat grinder first#i want to be able to say I'm going to do a thing and then do it#but i can't. because my brain so fully believes i should die that i have to come up with dumb tricks to get it to shut up.#it's a wonder i haven't turned to substance abuse. i guess i can thank my mom for being a crackhead and scaring me away from drugs i guess.
