The King in Red, the city’s deathless lord, responded to civil unrest with the levelheaded and mediation-forward approach typical of undead war-wizards: he mounted his iron dragon and rained fire from the sky.

Visual Diary 2: Wicked Problems
Horst Rittel uses the term “wicked problems” to describe problems that are more important and have higher significant issues. These problems are inherently unsolvable. I believe that education reform is an example of a wicked problem. The current world that we live in is rapidly changing. Every year it seems like we are finding ourselves adapting to new changes, and ways of being. In the world of education, it feels as if we are behind in some ways. We need to create and ensure an equal opportunity and level of education and preparedness for all students.

Haven't seen an official tumblr post from @torbooks so sharing for the community...
WICKED PROBLEMS ARCs are here! The book is real!!
For those not in the know, WICKED PROBLEMS will be the 8th Craft Sequence book and 2nd of the capstone Craft Wars trilogy, due to be released 9 April 2024. At least in the US, no idea about the rest of us.
If you're able to, pre-order from your bookshop of choice! Gladstone often does signed copies for Porter Square Books in Boston so keep an eye out on their socials if that's your thing.

Her tie distorted once again into a tangle of pebbly white fabric. She glowered at the instruction card, upon which a smiling cartoon bow tie promised that the process would be “simple!” and “helpful!,” though what it was meant to help, she could not guess. Maybe the instructions themselves were supposed to be simple and helpful, in which case their author had been either mistaken or perverse. Add to that the fact that successful completion of the process yielded a second cartoon bow tie high-fiving the first, and she was starting to suspect she had been drafted into the reproductive cycle of some sort of sentient demonic topology.

Sustainability as a question of organization: Review of “Dilemmata der Nachhaltigkeit” by Anna Henkel et al. (eds.) in Soziopolis: Gesellschaft Beobachten. Our approach (Wicked Problems: Dilemmata nachhaltiger Quartiersplanung) of making Horst Rittel's insights fruitful for approaching sustainability problems is explicitly mentioned there.

Is that the one called "capitalism" or "adulting" ?
There's a place just down the street where they chop off angel's wings and fry them in oil. You should try some. Oh, the angels? Yeah they're regular people now. Simultaneously their freedom of flight is ripped away from them violently and yet at the same time they are granted freedom from the yoke of divine subservience so it's bitter sweet for them or some gay shit like that. Anyways the wings are really good.

It was, Temoc had often reflected, quite convenient that some sorts of malevolent witchcraft had the grace to look malevolent. It was not so often with the Craft. Those cradled within its skeletal palm did not see the flayed hillsides, the dammed rivers drowning canyons, the fields poisoned with necromantic sludge and heavy metals, the burning lakes, the slow advancing ice caps. They saw air-conditioning and zombies to sweep their streets, designer textiles, good trains, golem shipping, the nightmare telegraph. He wondered what the world would look like from inside these blasphemies. Systems, like people, tended to vent their awfulness outward.

Wicked Problems by Max Gladstone
TL;DR: It took me TWO WEEKS to read this. But it was worth it. I love this series a lot. Source: NetGalley & I purchased a copy so thank you to the publisher and myself! Plot: Everyone comes together to either save or consume the world, at this point we just don’t know.Characters: All of them – all of the previous Craft Sequence characters show up (it feels like) and there was so much packed in…

Interplaying - what happens when trandisciplanirity meets wicked problems?
What is transdisciplinarity? Say Say I’m trying to fix my old Renault Clio. Transdisciplinarity is when you don’t focus only on the engine or the tyres, but bring different specialists - the mechanic, the painter, the electrician. They all work together, breaking their usual rules and methods, to give you a car that works like a dream (bearing in mind the limitations of Renault Clio from 2000 😊). Transdisciplinarity consists of connecting the dots between different areas of specialisation.
And what about wicked problems? It’s those super difficult puzzles that keep you awake at night – things like global warming. These problems are a mess and no one can just snap their fingers and solve them because there are so many divergent opinions. It’s almost like trying to plan a car journey with friends who all want to go in different directions.
But here’s the great thing: transdisciplinarity and complex problems are like salted peanuts and beer for a Portuguese. When you interplay them, you’re getting experts from different fields to come together and solve these issues. So it’s like having the car repaired by the mechanic, the painter and the electrician, while at the same time trying to figure out how to make the car journey work for everyone. They’re finding creative solutions that break the old rules and lead to a better world.
It’s all about interplaying to make the planet a happier and sustainable place!

I’m still honestly stuck on the fact that Glinda was initially going with Elphaba in that balloon. No time to think it through she would have went with her.
It’s only when they had a moment, and she was allowed to think through all the pros and cons, allowed a moment to really let what they were about to do sink in, that her fear and self preservation kicked in.
Instinctually she goes with Elphie. Always.
Rationally… she’s not that brave.
