I have to stop going to the movies because my obsession of fictional hot men just keeps growing…
That being said, who wants some Colt Seavers and Tom Ryder fics? 👀

🔍👀 Catch Grammar Mistakes Before They Catch You
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catching grammar mistakes isn’t just about following rules—it’s about making sure your message doesn’t accidentally sound like a spam email. ✍️📧
Whether you're writing an essay, a work email, or a text to a friend, proofreading ensures your words are clear, professional, and taken seriously. After all, the difference between “your” and “you’re” could be the difference between a promotion and a typo-filled disaster.
So take that extra minute, check your work, and save yourself from the oops moment later. 🧐📚
🔗And check out this post with 5 simple ways to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes.

You start writing with perfect grammar, feeling like a literary genius… and by the middle, it’s more like ‘a toddler’s first draft.’

The woman in the mirror isn’t me anymore.
I live alone. I’ve always kept my bathroom light on at night—habit from childhood, nothing more. But last week, something changed.
I got up at 3:12 AM (I remember because my phone lit up), walked past the bathroom, and saw myself in the mirror... already standing there. I hadn’t even stepped in yet.
She smiled. I didn’t.
I froze. It mimicked every move I made—but a second too slow. Like it was watching and deciding how to be me.
I’ve tried covering the mirror. It doesn’t help. Every night since, I’ve woken up at the same time.
She’s always there. Closer.
Last night, she didn’t copy me. She waved.
I didn’t.

Ok to my fellow lgbtqia+ baddies, I have a question….i am a very inexperienced bisexual woman and am currently in my first and only relationship (with the sweetest person ever) but im trying to write a story/book/idk about a WLW relationship and i have never personally been with a woman woman ya know so i was just wondering….do women get jealous/possessive like guys do? So like if i have two women who like each other but aren’t together for whatever reason but one of the women is with another woman would it make sense for that first woman to be jealous or is that more of a heterosexual thing? Sorry if that’s a stupid question.

Entry 11: Yesterday, I posted my freewriting. Not a great plan.
Tumblr media
Normally, one doesn’t post their freewriting. It’s, well, weird. But I did.
Guess what that means?
The thing about freewriting is that it’s not really about thinking.
Well, you do think, but that shackle is loosened. I call thinking a shackle because, for the most part, it holds writers back. And by writers, I mean anyone who creates stories or creative work.
See, people connect with stories from the heart. Stories that touch the soul and speak to something within.
But then comes thinking.
Most authors pour their ideas when they’re still pure, and use thinking afterwards to polish the piece.
But if you’re not careful, thinking can also muddle that rawness. Kind of like adding water to wine—diluting the essence of the ingredients.
With freewriting, you turn down that thinking mechanism. You’re writing in a way that feels almost like learning to write all over again.
It’s personal, messy, and filled with raw ideas (for the most part)…
And you’re not supposed to post it.
Writer’s block. It’s one of the most common problems that plague writers.
If you ask an author why he has this ailment, he’ll passive-aggressively answer with, “If I knew the why, would I be in this predicament?”
After a brief reconsideration that makes you realize how stupid that question was, you try a more sensible approach.
“What I meant was, how do you feel when you’re experiencing writer’s block?”
The author could answer in many ways, but the most common response is, “I’m stuck.”
Ah, perfect, you think. Finally, you can help the guy who never asks for it.
“Why don’t you freewrite?” You ask, with a voice that doesn’t hide the muffled beating undertone of your heart.
“Freewrite? Well, I would if I could, but you see, I’m stuck. You know, U.N.A.B.L.E T.O W.R.I.T.E?!!!”
Sensing the definite irritability in his voice, you carefully suggest, “Why don’t you start with something simple? Like… Banana. And Just go from there.”
“I WOULD IF I COULD YOU F*CKING CUN… wait… Banana you say? Banana is a good word. But… um… Banana… Banana… Banana. Hey, wait, where did you go?”
Too late, you’re out.
Several hours later...
You meet the writer on better terms, casually chatting about life until he suddenly brings up the topic with surprising enthusiasm.
He goes on and on about how banana was the perfect word to write with—perfectly balanced between elegance and simplicity. How it showcases the flexibility of the English language, all while peppering in complex words only a writer would use.
You’re happy to have been of help, though you’re trying hard to forget that he screamed at you earlier.
“So, can I see it?” You ask, knowing very well what his answer will be.
“The book?”
“No, the banana piece.”
“Oh, that? I trashed it, of course.”
You know he didn’t trash it. You also know that he knows that you can just get it from the dustbin.
You also thrice know, that when he gets like this, you can’t snatch the piece from his cold, dead hands. So you sip your coffee and pass the day with a much more pleasant subject.
But I’m not much of a writer, so I posted it to the world!
My excuse? Being lazy, or rather, I was lazy yesterday Friday.
I like to chill on Fridays, and while writing could help with that, I consider it work. You’d have a better chance of seeing the sun rise in the west than me working on a Friday. Not my vibe.
So, I thought, why not write about something that doesn’t start with “banana”—like the light to the left of my keyboard? And wait, wouldn’t it be perfect to just post it for the whole world to see?
Normally, my freewriting feels better when I’m handwriting. But I typed this one out and had to wrestle with the idea of actually posting it.
A small confession: I have a serious case of perfectionism. Most writers do. And there’s no better cure for it than to put your very worst forward.
I had a rough night after that.
I might try again, but who knows when. Probably not anytime soon.
See ya.

Red hot cherries
On a blazing fire
On a roof
Two men stand
They are wild
Young
Scared
One of them has everything but a gun
He cannot even wield it
He is too weak
A girl with a big heart
She waited
But nothing happened
So we left it.
~
The temptress
Ruins
The male mind
He knows he has statues
But nothing to wield them
He needs a counterpart
It will fall apart with her.

7 Tips to Writing Captivating Romance
How to Write Captivating Romance
Romance stories are, without a doubt, among the top and most addictive reads over platforms like Wattpad and Inkitt. They gain large audiences, usually drawing the most attention. So here are some tips to help you in creating just that kind of truly unforgettable love story that will capture your readers' hearts and keep them haunted if you really want to write something like that.
Creating Realistic Characters
Unique Personalities: Give them different personalities. Make them interesting by adding strengths, weaknesses, and unique backgrounds to make them all the more interesting. Their differences and how they fit together can be interesting.
Character Growth: Allow the due growing together and as individuals to happen. Show how they enable each other to become better human beings.
Build Real Chemistry
Take It Easy: Don't go pushing the romance. Let it grow slowly through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, and growing trust.
Fun and Tension: Add banter, misunderstandings, and tension to the relationship at times. It keeps things dynamic and interesting.
Add Meaningful Conflict
Challenges: Introduce problems that test the characters and their relationship. These may be personal problems, such as insecurities or past traumas, or external problems like different goals or societal pressures.
Working Through Issues: Depict the characters finding a way through these problems, making concessions to each other, and becoming stronger because of it. Obstacles make a romance more gratifying if overcome.
Focus on Emotions
Real Emotions: Write scenes that reveal character genuineness. Show what they are afraid of, or their hopes and vulnerabilities. Allow readers to feel their joy, sadness, and everything in between.
Quiet Moments: Incorporate quiet, personal moments where characters express thoughts and feelings. Such moments, just like big declarations of love, can be desirable.
Avoid Clichés
New Ideas: It is worth trying to avoid some of the very common romance clichés. One needs to think of ideas or plot twists that come as a surprise to readers.
Healthy Relationships: Be sure relationship is healthy and respectful. Steer clear of the romanticism of problem behaviors. Depict characters who communicate openly and show respect for each other's boundaries.
Draw from Real Life
Observation: Observe the world around you. Watch how people interact, what brings them together, and how they deal with problems. Realistic romance will be much more relatable for readers.
Keep the Story Moving
Balanced Pacing: The pacing of the romance has to be set against other elements of your story. A plot must move, and one has to make sure the romance fits organically into the narrative.
Bonus Tip: Add Little Details
Tiny details really do make all the difference. Maybe your character always brews the other person coffee in the morning, or maybe there is a special place they like to go together. It's these small touches that will make the romance feel real and make readers relate.

The good thing: A full week off to write on my next book.
The bad thing: having writers block
The good thing: getting back into reading and devouring the whole shadow & bones series plus six of crows and crooked kingdom
The better thing: creativity hits again and the words just flowing out of my fingers onto the paper
The catch: writers brain only accepts writing Nikolai Lantsov fanfiction
Just why...

If you don't know which writing project to work on yet this season, here's part 2!
I hope these strategies (or the ones I shared earlier this week) help you figure out your next writing project!
Image reads: "Strategies To Figure Out Your Next Writing Project" 3. Pick a project based on which ones you already started and want to finish first. 4. Pick a project based on what type of mood you want to write (lighthearted, angst, hurt/comfort, etc.) Sheets of paper and emojis of various expressions can be seen beside the two points.
Looking for Part 1? Check out this post!

speaking as a fic author with a long running wip - I understand if you're excited for where the story is going and want to let me know you're eager to read more, but comments that just bluntly say "update" are rude as hell.
I am not a machine. I do not respond to commands.
i've gotten several comments like this recently ("update im curious" or "love it update please") and i just don't understand why people think it's acceptable to be this rude and demanding to a stranger. Like... do people genuinely not know how aggressive and demanding they sound??
"but i never know what to say/i'm bad at words/english isn't my first language/etc!!!"
that's fine. if you need a template, try this: "loving the story so far! can't wait to see where it goes!"
You'll notice that my example communicates roughly the same information, but in slightly more words and in a less demanding tone. If you want you can even add specific things you're excited about! or things you're curious about! little things like that will change your comment from "aggressive demand" to "probably making the author's day"
my desire to actually update my fic goes down every time i get a blunt "update" comment. so if you're invested in actually getting more updates. maybe stop doing that. :)
---
addendum - if you're nervous about commenting in english when it isn't your first language, then you should know i got an entire paragraph comment in Spanish the other day. I don't speak Spanish well so I had to use google translate to read it, but the commenter's excitement came across loud and clear. It made my day. i responded as best i could in Spanish despite not having used my Spanish since high school. Comment in your language! I promise you authors wont mind!!! they will probably be thrilled that people around the world can enjoy their work!!!
