Well, it’s time to reveal the answer. So without further ado…

(NOTE: VARYING DEGREES OF SPOILERS FOR ALL THE MAIN SERIES GAMES EXCEPT FOR DUAL DESTINIES!)

The Consensus was… Correct!

Ate A Bottle of Poison: This happened in Turnabout Memories, the first case of the third game. While on trial for the murder of Doug Swallow back in college, Phoenix refused to believe that his girlfriend at the time, Dahlia Hawthorne, could be the culprit. So, he swallowed a bottle-shaped necklace (which supposedly contained poison) that was a vital piece of evidence. Thankfully, he managed to survive, as the poison was actually in his cold medicine. Sadly, the fourth case (Turnabout Beginnings) showed that this was not the first time that happened, and Terry Fawles was not so lucky.

Got Into A Fight With A Monkey: This happened in Turnabout Big Top, the third case of the second game. During the investigation, Phoenix got attacked by Money, a monkey that performs in the circus. The monkey stole his attorney’s badge, and Phoenix and Maya went to his owner’s room to get it and a costume belonging to animal tamer Regina Berry back. After a scuffle, Phoenix was able to find his badge, Regina’s costume, a ring that a puppet was going to propose to Regina with (long and pretty gross story), and a whole load of other shiny things. Later, it turned out that Money’s thieving habits helped to provide his owner, Acro, with a murder weapon, which he used to accidentally kill the ringmaster, Russel Berry.

Threw Out His Back Praying: This happened in The Rite of Turnabout, the third case of the sixth game. While visiting Maya in the Kingdom of Khura’in, Phoenix finds himself witnessing the Purification Rite. Followers must brave the cold and assume a prayer position for two whole days while the Rite happens. When he attempted to do the prayer, his back gave out and he spent one of those days unconscious. When he came to, High Priest Tahrust Inmee had been murdered and Maya Fey had been arrested… again.

Fell Off A Burning Bridge Into An Icy River: This happened in Bridge to the Turnabout, the fifth case of the third game. While staying at the Hazakura Temple with Maya and Pearl, Phoenix wakes up to the sounds of screaming. Fellow guest Elise Deuxnim had been murdered and Phoenix was told to call the police. He didn’t have his cell phone with him, so he went to use the one by Dusky Bridge. When he got there, it was on fire. If that wasn’t bad enough, Maya was on the other side, completing a special training course (the reason for their visit). While rushing across to save her, the burning bridge gave out on Phoenix, sending him plunging into the icy river. He was fine, but he had a really bad cold as a result, so Miles had to take over for the next few sections of the case.

Thrown Off a Cliff: The lie! To my knowledge, Phoenix Wright has never been yeeted off of a cliff. The closest we’ve gotten was the incident described above. Congrats if you got it right, but if you didn’t, there’s always next time.

Got Hit in the Head with a Fire Extinguisher: This happened in The Forgotten Turnabout, the first case of the second game. While he was looking through his phone before the trial of Maggey Byrd for the murder of Dustin Prince, Phoenix got beaned in the head with a fire extinguisher by the true murderer, Richard Wellington. This was because he was trying to retrieve his phone, a key piece of evidence that would have proven his guilt, but he accidentally grabbed Phoenix’s instead. This incident left Phoenix with amnesia and he had to defend Byrd while having no clue what was going on. Anything to justify a tutorial, I guess…

Hit By a Car: This happened in Turnabout Corner, the second case of the fourth game. This was one of the three inciting incidents related to the murder of Pal Meraktis, with the other two being the thefts of Trucy’s panties (way less gross than it sounds) and Guy Eldoon’s noodle cart. Phoenix’s accident (caused by the victim) turned out to be the least relevant to the whole murder, but it did splatter a bunch of nearby paint cans, which helped to place several pieces of evidence at the scene. As for Phoenix himself, he hit his head on a telephone pole, but the worst injury he got was a sprained ankle. Miracles never cease.

Forced to Defend a Guilty Man or His Best Friend Dies: This one actually happened twice. The first time was in Farewell, My Turnabout, the fourth case of the second game. Maya had been kidnapped by famed assassin Shelly de Killer (yes, that is his actual name) and if Phoenix wants to see her alive again, he must defend famous actor Matt Engarde for the murder of fellow actor Juan Corrida. It seemed simple enough, but later Phoenix comes to a horrifying realization. Engarde had hired de Killer to murder Corrida, making this the first time his client is actually guilty. Thankfully, with help from his friends, he is able to not only rescue Maya, but also make sure that Engarde faces justice for what he has done. The second time was in Turnabout Revolution, the fifth case of the sixth game. While knee-deep in the revolution at Khura’in, Maya is kidnapped by the corrupt justice minister, Inga Karkhuul Khura’in, and Phoenix has to secure the Founder’s Orb (the kingdom’s treasure, which would secure the throne for the rightful queen). In order to do that, Phoenix had to represent Paul Atishon-Wimperson, a corrupt politician, in a civil case against Apollo Justice, who is representing the Defiant Dragons (the rebel group). It later turns out that Atishon-Wimperson murdered Dr. Archie Buff, who is studying the orb in order to get it. Thankfully, Apollo is able to not only bring this to light, but also help Phoenix realize that Maya is safe, because the villains still need her for their plan. Even if he lost both of these cases, Phoenix Wright always makes sure that justice prevails in the end.

Moral of the story: Don’t fuck with Phoenix Wright. He may go through a lot of bullshit, but he may just be unkillable and will make sure that justice is served.
