oh boy henry where do i start 😓

Henry, you are the most jollyest, most jovial person i have ever laid my eyes upon. Your absolute whimsical personality causes innumerable amounts of serotonin to flood my brain. This may sound weird but i have almost all of fawfulydoo’s art of you in my candyman album, quite literally causing me to run out of storage (including the candyman art). Henry you do not understand how 𝒻𝓇ℯ𝒶𝓀𝓉𝒶𝓈𝓉𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 i want to get with you right now /j. Your funky yet fancy style makes me go “😍” but it’s only special when worn by you though. Everytime i see a drawing or anything that replicates you i start rolling around on the floor to try to release my happiness because if i don’t i’ll spontaneously discombobulate. Henry i cut out a drawing of you with the new curly hair design and taped it to the wall of my desk to stare at intensely.

You are the thorns to my rose, the pencil to my paper, the bullet to my gun and the gasoline to my fire.

I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so i would never have to watch you get taken by the tri government. You are so awesome sauce, and you are so coolio toolio. You are amazing playing lethal league, you’re a great player with an amazing cane, sometime i even call you my silly billy. I forever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day be experimented on. I would deplete my energy if it were the only thing that could give you an advantage on your opponents. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years (one year). I remember when you got snatched by the tri government and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when i watched you laugh in a transparent void (i don’t know any times he was happy with some sort context except for that gif of him crying laughing), because deep down, my hp deserved it. I just wanted you to return home and unmutate. Then allas, you did(n’t), my skrunkly skrungo (didn’t) came home and i rejoiced. 2023 was a hard year for us zude, but in 2024 you made history happen. You could be so whimsical in almost every situation and i couldn’t believe it. I was crying, crying a river even. and then my glorious pal yelled “DRAT!! I’M ALL OUTTA MEDS AND INSURANCE HASN’T APPROVED IT YET!!”

Not only have you changed your silly appearance (you still look silly)

but you’ve eternally changed my life.

i like the thought of you never having been a sunglasses person before meeting satoru. not for fashion or for function.

before, the sun would be blazing overhead — and you’d still squint stubbornly rather than slide on the extra one you carry for him in your purse.

you used to say they made you feel like you were trying too hard to be cool, like you were pretending to be someone you weren’t (satoru definitely picks up on the way you inadvertently call him cool).

then, as fate would have it — satoru comes blazing into your life like the big fireball that is the sun itself. both blinding and impossible to ignore.

and of course, he wears sunglasses out like they are glued permanently to his skin.

but somewhere along the way, you find yourself wearing them too. you don’t know how — it simply just happened. maybe after a late night in bed when he wordlessly places his own shades on you just to see how they’d look and you’re too tired to fight it.

maybe then is when you finally start making use of the spare. and not just occasionally. always. and only bc it helped block out the annoying light. no other reason (you like to tell yourself).

and satoru notices.

he pretends he doesn’t at first. just grins with that usual cocky tilt of his head. but he definitely notices. especially when you pull an old pair of his from your purse mid walk and slip them on in sync with him.

the first time it happens, he pauses mid stride. blinks. then stares at you for a second longer than necessary before smirking.

“is that my influence i see?” satoru murmurs, failing to hide the swelling in his chest that is a mixture of pride and absolute joy — bc he already knows the answer.

“careful, sweets.” he points at your face with a serious tone like he’s warning you. “next thing you know, you’ll be walking around telling everyone you’re the strongest too.”

you roll your eyes behind the lenses, adjusting your purse over your shoulder. but the way you fidget with the strap betrays your nerves. you wonder if he thinks you look good in them. but you don’t ask.

instead you say, “oh, please. you wish.”

later that night when you’re asleep, he traces the arm of your sunglasses where they sit on the nightstand beside his. lined up perfectly — like they belong together.

and he smiles.

not his big, theatrical grin. but the smaller, softer one. the one meant only for you. bc you wear sunglasses now. and without ever saying it, you’re telling him he’s changing you in ways that stay.

and you’re letting him.

Thinking about how Crowley thinks Aziraphale calls him when he’s bored (when nothing is happening) , when he’s “done something clever” (when something good happens), or when he needs help (when something bad happens) . Like. Crowley my beloved that’s all the times.

Listen, friends, you have to understand that I defend people you hate.

It’s all well and good to hear that I defend children by speaking to them like humans. It may be less easy to hear that my child clients aren’t just accused of shoplifting or shoving their parents, but of sexual abuse of siblings, breaking into stores to rob them, crashing cars with their friends inside, threatening school shootings.

I represent sex offenders. I’ll defend a sex offender’s rights in the same breath as the rights of their victim.

I can talk about abuse with authority not just because I’ve read books but because I’ve represented abusers for years upon years, and watched them come back to court for crimes against the same victims.

I believe in the inherent value of human life no matter what horrible things that human life has done. I’m a pacifist and I disavow violence in all forms but I’ll make excuses for it all day in a courtroom.

I’ve put my money where my mouth is; I defend the “worst” of humanity because I can see with my two human eyes that it’s the only way to preserve the freedom of the “best” of humanity.

My job isn’t just being kind to the innocent. It’s being kind to them AND the worst people you’ve ever met, over and over and over, every day. Most people go their lives not really gazing regularly into the abyss. Public defenders be like, “hey, abyssal horrors beyond imagination, how’s Tuesday going.”
