I try to get hold of his arms to stop him from leaving like this—the pain and hurt in his eyes will kill me eventually but for right now I need to try and fix it—it’s instinct, the bond urging me to fix it no matter the cost.

“Just stop, Eris!”

“Why? What is the fuck is the point? Nothing, absolutely nothing is going to change! You are not going to change!”

“No, I’m not!” I say unapologetically, “Why is that so bad? Why do you want to fix something that isn’t broken?”

“Not broken? The only reason you’re not breaking is because I am! And I can’t do it anymore!”

“Can’t do what?” I ask stoically, building my guard up.

“This! I can’t fight a lost battle anymore! Us! It’s a lost cause!” He yells tears sliding down his face.

“We are not a lost cause, Eris! I-“ but he cuts me off,

“Why won’t you fight for us?” He whispers. His voice trembles, fear, and dread evident in them.

“There’s nothing worth the fight,” I say the same lie I’ve been feeding him for the last five centuries. But unlike the rest of the time he doesn’t winnow away. I watch him as he picks up the pieces of his soul that I shattered little by little over the past five centuries. He straightens his slumped shoulders and wipes his tear-streaked face with the back of his hand. I watch as he burns his pain, his sadness, and his love until his eyes become the graveyard of what was once brightest and joyful.

He closes his eyes and lets go of the part of his soul that held his love for me and I stand a silent audience as mourns his love and grief. After everything is said and done, I don’t recognize the male standing in front when he opens his eyes and it terrifies me.

He nods slightly and turns to walk away.

“This is it, isn’t it? For us!”

“This is it, shadowsinger!”

He laughs softly, ‘I’m fine. It wouldn’t have been safe for you. I couldn’t risk it.’

Even though he couldn’t see me, I shake my head and say, ‘You don’t have to worry about me. I can take care of myself.’ 

‘Of course I’ll worry about you. I’m made to worry about you.’ He says, laughter and joy evident in his tone.

I close my eyes and do nothing to hide my smile and joy from him.

‘I’m glad to finally meet you, my fireheart.’

‘I’m glad to be a part of you too, my night.’

And so it began.

He smiles and kisses my cheek.

“Come dance with me.” I whisper in his ear.

“To what music?”

I start humming softly and pull him away from the stove. He turns to face me, and I pull him plush into my chest and lead him out of the kitchen into the living room, where my shadows move furniture to make space for us. I start humming louder, and he starts swaying to it. After a while, our heartbeats become the song to our dance, and his boisterous laughter the symphony.

I don’t know if we spend a second, a minute, or a lifetime dancing together, but he tilts his head and simply softly kisses me before walking back into the kitchen.

I sensed their urge to write poetry about the male and slammed the door as hard as I could to get my frustration out.

5. Do you respond to comments? Always! I love receiving feedback and my anxiety gets the better of me if I don't!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? The Dancer and the Dark—I wrote this to be petty! It's short and angsty (that's exactly how you can describe me too lol!)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? If I had to choose I'd choose lover of my soul!

8. Do you write smut? I can't really say yes to this but can't say no either? (I'm demi—very strongly including towards ace so it's hard to write smut but I do write them when the story demands it)

9. Do you write crossovers? Single chapter in Dinner and diatribes

10. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not yet, but sounds exciting!

12. What is your all-time favorite ship? Azris (to write) but I'd sell my soul for Andriel! (GO FOXES!)

13. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? My anxiety wouldn't let me dnf something that I'd started! (reading, writing, dishes… you name it!)
