i would love it so much if in the show the picture of armand that jesse looks at is the same one louis took of him by the seine in the 40s. not that armand couldn't have had his picture taken by someone else before or after that, but they did make louis a photographer and we never see that photo again in dubai do we? so maybe it's sitting in the talamasca archives, perfectly preserved with its little singe mark at the bottom from when louis thought about getting rid of it...

sometimes i try to imagine the skewed understanding i would have about lando if the only exposure i had to him was his media pen interviews, not the full range of his content, from his unhinged streams to his extremely professional extended interviews, and everything in between. it makes me feel a vague sense of horror that people might actually think the version of him they see in the immediate precedence or aftermath of his on track performances is the sum total of his personality, and an accurate representation of how he handles life. it's utterly lacking a broader understanding of his resilience and his humor, the presence of his support network, his deep integration with his team at mclaren. it makes me itch to think that people would assume that he is truly as fragile or arrogant as he can seem, before he's processed anything, or when he opens his dumb, inarticulate mouth to ramble, truly as manipulative and pathetic. it's such a reductive and impoverished picture that does not do him justice as a human being. yes, he can a gloomy perfectionist and blatantly self-critical, painfully open and honest, as he's busy actively shielding the team, praising the car, and shouldering sole responsibility. it's at least partially a long-used media strategy of radical defensive personal honesty and team pr that yes, many people are dismissive of and have grown to hate, but i think it's hardly weakness for him to explain his performances, with the added context of his perspective, and his honest assessment of his struggles as a driver. those struggles are not the totality of who he is, and do not represent the full picture of his strength and yes his stability, his resilience and tenacity, as crazy as that may seem. so so so many people seem perfectly willing to think they really get him from brief interview clips with leading questions and nothing else, and can write him off lacking the mental fortitude of a champion. i think they do not have meaningful opinions about him; just projections based on an incomplete and biased dataset that lando offers them, in that one, limited context.
