it is so unbelievably, exceedingly obvious to me that part of s4 sam's determination to kill lilith is rooted in the question of could he have killed lilith? could he have really saved his brother from hell?
did he choose his moral high ground over his brother's life?
and if he did it, how can he ever bring himself to do that again? how could he make that same mistake twice?
of course he drinks the demon blood. how it even a question?
before, he abstained. he refused to become a monster. he thought his worst nightmare was becoming something dean would have to kill
then his brother went to hell for him and he realized his real worst nightmare
dean is gone and it's his fault - is it his fault? there's only one way to know for sure. which is to find out if he'd been capable of killing lilith if he'd just listened to ruby from the beginning
then he does kill lilith and frees lucifer and starts the apocalypse and okay, that's bad, but his first wash of horror has nothing to do with that
it's because it's true. he could have saved his brother
and he didn't

One of the best things about Disco Elysium by far is that it does not fear ugly women. The world is full of ugly men, but ugly women are so hard to come by.
#I'm not calling the characters ugly btw#i don't believe any one can be ugly#i do not care for beauty standards and thus i don't rank people based on how “ugly” or “pretty” they are#but the characters in DE do not meet the conventional beauty standards and look like actual people with unique faces#and thus would be considered “ugly”#and that is so important to me. i go feral whenever media represents how people look like in real life and not how they look like in the#fictional parallel universe where everyone is a model and where a majority of the movies take place#because irl you don't have to be a model to be desirable#the most attractive man in any video game I've ever played has a receding hairline and a big nose and thick glasses and a small chin#and not only is representing realistic people. just good. in general. but it makes the character of Dolores Dei stand out so much more which#works for the game so well. she's barely human. she's a deity- a myth- a legend. the only version that exists of her now is the one with#glowing lungs. she's perfectly beautiful because she's inhuman. the fact that everybody else looks so human only highlights how inhuman she#has become yk?#if everyone was as conventionally attractive as her then she wouldn't stand out. we wouldn't get why she's so special.#disco elysium#disco elysium analysis#media analysis#beauty standards#this is only one aspect of how this game portrays real people btw. as someone interested in character design this just immediately stood out#to me#the first time i noticed it was when i first met garte and the second time was when i met ruby because neither are conventionally desirable#oh my fucking god the nerds who complain about a woman with a model face having body hair in a video game would perish if they played this#mainstream game/movie studios catering to western masses could never

With how many references there are in this season about the doctor being a parent, we are definitely going to have some Susan content. I mean, when doctor who keeps shoving the same clues in your face over and over again, it's best to not overlook them.

I just realized what I love so much about Maxton Hall: Ruby is smart! and not just like book smart… but actually likeable sensible character with rational working brain smart. Unlike Belly and Jackie who constantly acted like the dumbest biches under the sun
so refreshing

ruby screaming at the sugarplum fairy to bring back her sister is so heartbreaking, truly cannot bear to even look at siobhan's face. i can't even make myself watch the show in one sitting i have to keep pausing between sentences. also not be make everything about supernatural, but it fully reminded me of all hell breaks loose pt. 1 when dean has to sit with the reality of his brother's death and he too chooses to scream at the only otherwordly, powerful entity he knows exists to bring his brother back. a miracle that it works for him. tragedy, that this probably will not work for ruby. godd. but the intensity of grief and emotion that scenes like this bring to a story is just off the fucking charts. it's SUCH good storytelling, it's so compelling and it hurts so fucking bad. when you lose someone like that, it's like a limb being cut off. there's this space in the world that used to be connected to you, and suddenly this thread holding you to the earth is cut off. you feel this emptiness there, and it's terrifying reaching out to that space that was warm and finding nothing there. and siobhan brings that helpless, terrified rage to that moment so damn well. god. goddd.

Sometimes I think about Ruby, my amazing intelligent powerful vicious librarian, and just how bad she is at travel. She may be a killer but she’s used to a cushy life with magic invisible servants cooking up gourmet food and turning down her feather bed and laundering.
In any AU where she’s (more or less) human, the very second you get her out of the library and into a carriage or on horseback or (gods forbid) a boat, she’s out of her element. Motion sick, uncomfortable, doesn’t know the first thing about how to prepare food or pitch a tent much less how to sleep under the stars.
She is an indoor cat only, and she doesn’t know how to deal with Outside tm.

ok so if im speaking my truth dw has been bad for a long time now but rtd2 as an era has suffered from the very beginning when it started involving the pantheon bullshit and the gods instead of the sci fi alien adventure of the week. way too much of a fantasy show with made up rules than a sci fi show that thrives in the limitations science fiction provides. add on rushed and sloppy characterization (both of ruby individually and her dynamic with the doctor) that stunts what ncuti is even capable of performing, and the allegiance to callback after callback, plus the fundamental issue of an 8 episode run not working for dw at all, and the way that everything is super disney-fied, and it's just a mess.
all of that to say that since it's such a disaster i dont really gaf about it completely jumping the shark with That Reveal. im in the dw phase of what the hell sure about basically anything at this point, and if it manages to get better it'll surprise me

I'm not exactly happy about that ending but I am trying to keep an open mind. I've been talking with my mom about it spitballing different directions this could go (only working under the assumption it's only going to be for a single special or a short set of specials like with the 60th) and there are some good idea nuggets that I think could justify that ending. I think I'm going to wait until an official statement or announcement so we know what the new status quo is going to be before I fully make a decision about it. I really want to believe this is more than just a nostalgia bait cash grab but I'm also trying to be realistic that I might not feel comfortable watching anymore at least until we get a new show runner.
