Pokemon Sun and Moon Series Episode Guide
In honor of the Sun and Moon series finishing 4 years ago, I have made a complete watch guide for the series. Have you never seen the show and want to? Trying to rewatch an episode but canât remember the number? This guide has it all! This guide also has episodes noted as âfillerâ in case the episode count is a large commitment (I would recommend watching all the episodes but I get it). There is a notes section at the end where I detail some of the choices I made regarding the guide as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Bold = âPlotâ episodes. What I consider as âplotâ episodes are new captures and evolutions for Ashâs team, story episodes, AND character focuses. Character focuses include pokemon evolving, new captures, Z crystals, and episodes FULLY centered around any of the Alola companions(Lillie, Kiawe, Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles) as well as Team Rocket
Italicized = Episodes that donât fall under as âplotâ. Generally, these episodes establish something new to the series that is frequently referenced back to, so watch them. If you are curious about what it establishes, feel free to ask.
Not bolded = âFillerâ episodes, generally skippable episodes that exist on their own.

Lillieâs final arc gets completed in this series as well, so after finishing Sun and Moon I would recommend watching JN111 in particular to wrap her arc up as well as JN112 because itâs basically just a love letter to the Sun and Moon series.
JN37 - Ash comes back to Alola for the first time in Journeys
JN76 - Ash heads to Alola again, Team Rocket goes to Alola for the first time in Journeys
JN96 - Ash and Goh meet Sophocles in Hoenn
JN111 - Lillie, Gladion, and Lusamine find Mohn
JN112 - Continuation of JN111, everyone reunites with each other at Alola
Notes:
âFillerâ and âplotâ are noted as such because in my opinion there is no such thing as a filler episode in the Pokemon anime. The term is not applicable to something like the Pokemon anime as there is no true source material. I just use the term to describe episodes that you can skip as they arenât referenced again.
I opted to be vague about the climaxes in the Nebby Arc, Poipole Arc, and the entirety of the League Arc because explaining anything gives a major spoiler.
I count a single arc as a narrative thread with a clear start and end that lasts for multiple episodes. In the cases of the 3 islands, the end of the arc is the Grand Trial. For what I call the Nebby and Poipole Arc, there is a clear first episode and last episode of the arc.
While the Ultra Guardian missions can come across as not âplotâ, I consider them necessary watches because they are tied to the Poipole Arc and to a lesser extent worldbuilding. However any Ultra Guardian mission after the Poipole arc is completed arenât considered as âplotâ in my opinion
Any âfillerâ episode with the note âwould recommend to watchâ, are just fun episodes in my opinion. Notably, SM57 has some amazing animation work and SM114 has an amazing battle in it.
This was inspired by @/gifmourningu precure episode guides

**(Note: Prismatic Luminosity is an AU of Pokémon Ultra Sun.)**
-0-0-0-
CHARACTER TIDBITS 1 - Lillie Aether
Lillie Aether is the daughter of Lusamine Aether. At the age of five, Lillie lost her father, Mohn, in a tragic science experiment that stole him away to parts unknown.
The years following this tragedy were seeped in conflict between the remaining members of the Aether family. Lusamine, having lost her husband, refused to let her children go anywhere or do anything without her supervision. This got to the point where Gladion, then eleven years old- The (Usually) minimum age one could be to partake in Alola's island trials- And frustrated with Lusamine's overprotective nature and the inner workings of her organization, took something important from the Aether Foundation, fled home, and cut all ties with his family.
Two years later, Lillie also turned eleven. Scared for the safety of a newborn pokémon brought in by her mother's associates, Lillie kidnapped it. Following her brother's example, she then ran away from home.
When introduced in Prismatic Luminosity, this girl is already a trainer. Her team consists of a colorful cotton ball-like pokémon nobody's seen before nicknamed Nebby, and a timid grass-type who was a birthday present from another of her mother's associates. Lillie and company can often be found exploring their new world.
Being a curious pokémon with a hatred of bags (Especially Lillie's), Nebby has a habit of disappearing and getting into trouble. Lillie and her other pokémon also tend to find conflict when looking for it, which could mean everyone's in peril.
It's been a month since they came Melemele Island. With their track record, it's a miracle they've survived this long.
There's a boy that's often tagged along on Lillie's adventures. Or he somehow stumbles upon them. Lillie admired his ability to remain positive when things got tough!
As the weeks went by, however, she got the sense that he...
That boy and his grandfather? They have ties to the local Tapu.
She unfortunately hasn't had luck securing a meeting through them.
That's... Fine. Neither he or the Kahuna are... Important in the grand scheme of things. When the time came, she would be ready to take on the world herself.
Except Nebby won't take anything Lillie says seriously. Maybe if it heard what she needed it to hear from the Tapu...?
It's time that they climbed the Mahalo Trail and visited the Tapu's shrine. Tapu Koko has to agree to meet with Lillie and her pokémon. Surely it knows what Alola's future holds...

⧠INTRO POST â§
[DISCLAIMER: THE VIEWS AND OPINIONS EXPRESSED ON THIS ACCOUNT ARE MY OWN AND MAY NOT NECESSARILY REFLECT THE OFFICIAL VIEWS AND OPINIONS OF THE HOENN POKĂMON LEAGUE.]
(in other words, this is my âŒïžunofficial, not league officialâŒïž spam rotomblr, so take everything i say on here with a TINY grain of salt & donât expose me to the league when i say something stupid, because i will inevitably say something stupid)
-
hey rotomblr! been gone for a while so i figure itâs about time for a reintroduction!
my name is floris (they/them), and iâm an aspiring future professor and the current hoenn champion, which i have held the title for 8 years running as of this post! i was named on 8/13/2015 when i was ten years old, which some of you might remember the news coverage of. (side note: donât look up any of my old interviews, theyâre embarrassing as hell)
^ this is my official hoenn league trainer card! (no you will NOT see mine or my âmons registration numbers thank you) and before you guys get all up in arms about two of my hoenn registered team members being alolan, my League team is slightly different, and i donât reveal that publicly.
the first is my blaziken, my sweet boy apollo <3 my first ever pokĂ©mon, given to me by our lovely professor birch! weâve really grown up together, and despite how much i raised him, i think he raised me a little bit too. heâs a sassy, spoiled brat at his core but still incredibly loyal and affectionate. heâs my best trained, and dare i say my strongest. very protective, very loyal, impulsive about battles.
the second is latios, a member of the eon duo, who i met on a hidden island off the coast (not disclosing where) after his sister petitioned former champion steven stone and i for help. we saved him from illicit capture and he insisted upon traveling with me. he doesnât take anything too seriously, but heâs not necessarily hyper.
the third is lunala- or nebby, who i technically adopted? i met it a couple of years after becoming hoenn champ, when i was 12, during my first attempt at beating alolaâs league. itâs a long, long story, but tl;dr, after it evolved, its caretaker (a friend of mine) left it with me, saying i could take it on more adventures and give it a better life than she could, and iâm doing my best. itâs just happy to be along for the ride, really :)
fourth is rayquaza, who i met atop the sky pillar when i petitioned it for aid with the whole meteor situation. somehow, bewilderingly, i became its Chosen. iâm now its caretaker :)
fifth is my sylveon, pixie! she was an eevee iâd caught early on whose name i couldnât decide on until one morning i woke up and she had just evolved overnight into a sylveon, and i was young and had no idea that could happen, so i assumed she was lost and had just somehow wandered her way into my tent lol, so i took her around the nearest town and asked if she belonged to anybody. eventually the pokĂ©mon center confirmed she was indeed mine! she was confused while this was going down but very happy to be there. sheâs very playful and also very intent on helping me with tasks she thinks i need help with! itâs very sweet of her.
sixth is my lurantis, hyacinth, who i met in alola. sheâs shyer and tends to keep to herself, and she really likes gardening like a lot of my grass types do. she brings me plant cuttings a lot!
[OOC UNDER CUT]
hi, iâm floris (@astral-faery)! iâm nearly 19 and use they/them pronouns this is a self insert/pokĂ©sona blog. canon divergent bc they replaced may in ORAS, but can adapt to most canons! iâm almost 19 and so is champion flor so this blog swears and will have more mature references, but *no* explicit nsfw rps/ERP!
champion flor will answer most asks, even abt their trauma đ they might answer asks from sentient/talking/anthropomorphic pokĂ©mon, but thereâs like NO chance theyâre gonna believe it.
iâm very much okay with high stakes rp! champion flor and their pokĂ©mon can get hurt irp, but they *will not* get killed. iâm also NOT EVER okay with, like.. sadistic shit. heavy angst is fine, being weird about the angst and having your evil character talk to mine about how much they like to torture pokĂ©mon is not.
NO pokĂ©mon nsfw allowed EVER! pokĂ©mon function as beloved and whimsical pets on this blog even if a couple can technically communicate telepathically. that is how they will remain. donât be fuckin creepy, yo.
if youâre a pokemon irl/rotomblr blog please interact and send asks and reblog my posts! i was in this community months ago and want to get back into it. i hope to see you guys around!

Iiiiiiit's Bedlam! A menace of indeterminate gender across time, space, and multiple dimensions.
Theyâll be appearing in art and hopefully some future fics, so figured I should post them here. Backstory and notes under the readmore!
Bedlam is my PLAtagonist, and before that, they were the First Champion of Alola. Or were they an Aether Foundation lackey working for Lusamine? The details are blurry...
...because itâs all of the above. See, Bedlam had troubles between two different timelines. In Sun, they were an Aether Foundation lackey who worked under Lusamine, tasked with tracking down her wayward children, and was an additional reoccurring antagonist. Bedlam finally changed sides after seeing what Lusamine was really up to, but too late; she cast Bedlam aside into Ultra Space during the fight with Nihilego, and the trainer was never seen again.
But in the timeline of UltraMoon, Bedlam caught up with Lillie first and was intercepted by Nebby and Tapu Koko, getting swept up in an adventure and the Trial Challenge. This Bedlam figured out their mistake early on and was an honestly good person, teaming up with Lunala to save the day from Lusamine/Necrozma/etc. However, during one of their later dealings with Ultra Beasts, they too were lost in the recesses of Ultra Space where poor Nebby could not reach them...
When Arceus needed a powerful trainer, it turned its godly eye to Bedlam. Their body was torn apart by being stuck in Ultra Space so long...but hey, nothing Arceus couldnât fix. It shoved the remaining parts of Bedlam from those two timelines together, deemed the job Good Enough, and threw them into Hisui. Understandably, after all this, their memories are absolutely scrambled, putting them in the same boat as Ingo.
...Who they fall in love with. Hard. He falls for them back, and they generally muddle through adventures and amnesia together. After the events of the main game, Bedlam does move in with him, and the two are later married so Pearl Clan can step in the next time anyone gives Bedlam grief for being an interdimensional outsider (and also because *we canât have unmarried trainers sharing a tent, think of the children and sneaselets*).
When Bedlam eventually returns to the proper time, they study and officially become Professor Cedar, who specializes in the effects that space/time rifts and other interdimensional shenanigans have on Pokemon (and also reunite with Lunala!)
Bedlam is sarcastic and snarky, but with a protective streak a mile wide. They think fast and talk faster, though they can be stubborn with their feelings (unless Ingo is involved). Give them caffeine and room to ramble, and youâll have the makings of a friendship with the wayward doctor.
Theyâve also got some damaged nerves in their legs, with those funky boots acting as protective braces; Bedlam has a support Aloan Ninetails to help them out, and also utilizes the help of Ride Pokemon when traveling long distances. Still working on the rest of their team besides Ninetails and Lunala, but will draw them once itâs figured out.
#bedlam art#pokemon oc#platagonist#doc bedlam#ingo x oc#selkie au because bedlam will definitely show up there

About the OC's thing, I would like a little refresher, it's been a while tbh (welcome back tho) ((and happy new year <3))
SO! I can finally answer this ask from literally 6 months ago! I was mid way done with the art I wanted to use for this when school cut me off but, NOW? Itâs OC and OC series explanation time baby!Â
but, also this is probably going to be a super long post so Iâll put it all under a cut:
Alright!
Iâll start off with some notes on OCs Iâve talked about in the past. Then Iâll move on to the newer and more exciting (to me at the least) stuff. Letâs start with... The Space for Angels Series
This was an old webcomic I was going to make. The initial idea that sparked the comic was âWhat if someone got framed for murder by an alternate version of themselves?â I ended up cancelling the project for a few different reasons though. 1.) I got discouraged from it the moment I got off schedule with it. Admittedly this really shouldnât have bothered me as much seeing as a lot of comics take breaks here and there especially when life gets in the way but, at the time it did. 2.) I realized that I didnât like the way I was writing future chapters. So, I ultimately cancelled the project because I wanted to take a step back and try again with a less complicated idea. That being said! I still really like some of the characters I made from it. More specifically my plans for both Thunder and Goldie.Â
Here are some chibis of Goldie (the one on the left, she/her) and Thunder (the one on the right, she/her) in case you forgot what they looked like (Or if I havenât posted their latest designs yet). I liked Thunderâs whole story so much that I decided to migrate it into a different series that I plan to make at some point (and is featured later on in this post).Â
While I donât have any current story plans for Goldie I still really enjoy her as a character. Her whole story was that she was an emotion less angel (in order to become an angel in the universe you had to give up something really important, Goldie chose to give up her emotions) for so many years that she hadnât noticed when her emotions were starting to come back to her. So her whole story is about how she discovers she has emotions again and relearning how to be human essentially. She finds out she has emotions again when she eats her favorite food, chocolate ice cream, and realizes that she feels happy while eating it. This causes her to panic and then the fact that she is panicking causes her to panic more. Eventually the others calm her down and decide to help her with the whole âsuddenly having emotions againâ thing. Another little tid bit about her is that she eventually becomes a model (cause after spending so many years being emotionless she basically has that facial emotionless model face expression down to a T lmao.)Â
And thatâs basically all my thoughts about my old Space for Angels series at the moment. If there is anything you are still curious about with it feel free to send another ask! Also a huge thank you to anyone who did read and support the comic when it was running. It really did mean a lot!Â
Now before we can move on to the newer stuff, I want to address a series that wasnât mine but, I was creating characters for and helping be made: Tales of Aeriatora.Â
The Tales of Aeriatora Series
I want to start off by saying that I still own all of my characters that I made for this series and Iâm still on good terms with everyone from the project. However, Iâm also here to basically confirm that the project is not going to be turned into anything any more. At least, to my knowledge from the last time I had an in depth conversion on the topic with the projectâs owner @icednebulaâ thatâs the impression I got. (If I am wrong about this Nebby feel free to correct me. I care u <3) Itâs basically just turned into a personal world of ocs for the owner and trusted friends from the project. I feel partially to blame for why the project ended up being sort of shelved like this. I had voiced my concerns about how realistic it was to finish the comic given how big the story was getting and I think that unintentionally set it on the course to being shelved. I was just a bit concerned because I cared about the project but, this one thing seemed to spiral into Nebby not really trust me with the project. This and some other miscommunications here and there lead to its downfall. That being said its stories and the characters are still very dear to me, Nebby, and everyone else on the teamâs hearts. Ultimately itâs water under the bridge at this point for what happened. Here are some chibis of my main 3 characters from the series for old timeâs sake.Â
Pictured: Cliff (on the left, he/him), Dellah (in the middle, she/her), and Lyla (on the right, she/her). I donât feel right trying to come up with new stuff for their stories or characters given that Nebby is still a bit on the fence about me working on ToA again but, thatâs ok. Iâm fine with that. Iâm just glad to have made so many happy memories through the series/project.Â
I do still make stuff with Nebby and Rainy though, which leads me to some new ocs to talk about!Â
Goetia
Now this is purely a world that Nebby made for fun. Itâs not going to be turned into anything but, it has some fun ocs and ideas Iâd love to talk about! Here are two of my ocs that Iâve made for it.Â
basically itâs a magical world where every witch/wizardâs aesthetic doesnât match their powers. Lumen (Pictured on the left, She/her) has portals and light magic despite her aesthetic being Pudding themed. (We also call her the Pudding witch.) And Leek (Pictured on the right, He/him) is one of her familiars! He is basically a bottomless void thatâs constantly hungry. He has void powers and a little dumb but we love him. :3 With him, Lumen can basically make blackholes. There is also a bunch of other fun things with these two and some of the other characters Nebby has made but, Iâll leave that to ourselves for now. Next! The Monsters of Our Minds Series
Wait a minute? Wasnât this also an old series? Yes, technically this was an old series I was making. I am putting it under new series however because Iâve reworked how I am going to go about making it. Itâs not going to be just comics anymore. Itâs going to be a mixture of comic pages and animatics. That being said, I have no clue when I am going to work on it. My idea is to have comic pages then an animatic and then repeat that set up until the seriesâ story is finished. The original project was temporarily shelved because a big theme in the story is mental health and when I was initially writing the story I wasnât at the best mentally. So I shelved it for when I was doing better mentally. ( I am doing much better now btw! Donât worry about it. Iâve got the therapy I needed. <3 ) I didnât get far on the pages back when it was only going to be a comic so let me talk about the story a little bit and show two of itâs main characters!
The main character Stacy, lives in a world where people can create monsters. However, genetically some people are incapable of doing so. Stacy is one of these people despite both of her parents having the gene to make monsters. There is a festival held to celebrate the First Monster ever. It is said that if you make a wish during this day there is a chance that the First Monster will come down and grant your wish. The day this is held on however, is also Stacyâs birthday. Her parents caught up in excitement and plans for the First Monster festival end up forgetting her birthday. Leaving her alone in the house. While her parents are gone, Stacy looks up at the night sky from her room window and wishes that she was normal. AAAND, BOOM! the ground shakes as the First Monster crashes down from the night sky into Stacyâs front yard. Stacy immediately bolts out to the front yard and has her wish ââgrantedââ by the First Monster. (I put granted in quotes cause the whole notion of what âbeing normalâ means is vague at best. Obviously, Stacy getting the ability to make monsters doesnât make her ânormalâ but, itâs the only immediate thing the First Monster can think to give her for her wish.) She is given the ability to make monsters. From here, Stacy and her visit with the First Monster makes the news. Opening doors for Stacy, she gets accepted into a Monster College where she meets her new friend, Amy. A girl in the same class as her at the college that is a massive nerd with a bit of crush on her. (But Stacy doesnât now that.) From here they deal with the extra strings attached to Stacyâs wish as she is now a part of something a lot larger than she bargained for.Â
I think I condescend as much as I could about the first chapter of the story while still giving you a good picture and not spoiling anything. If you have any other questions about the story though feel free to ask and Iâll give as much as I can without spoiling stuff!Â
On the left is Stacy (she/her) and on the right is Amy (she/her). :)
Now letâs go to one thatâll be shorter to explain.
A Currently Untitled Series
If youâve seen my art fight page these character probably look familiar. They were originally from a project I wanted to make an animated series about monsterâs in highschool. Buuuttt, Iâve grown out of the highschool setting. So Iâm in the process of changing the setting to them in college with the old highschool adventures I came up with being backstories to the current story. Still, unsure if I want to make it more of a slice of life series (as thatâs what it was originally) or if I want to go for something more adventurous. Never the less, I wanted to mention this series. Pictured is Cleo on the left (They/them, Ve/Vem, or Ge/Gem) and Theo on the right (He/Him). Theo is a big old softie that is just trying to figure out his place in the world and Cleo is his chill childhood friend. They are roommates. :3
Definitely ask questions about them and any other characters from this story. Itâll be a great opportunity for me to work with their stuff more.Â
Now I want to talk about an interesting series...
The Rewritten Series
Huh? Rewritten? Like itâs an old series you rewrote? Welll, for me itâs an old series but, youâve never seen this story. Thatâs because this is about my first ever story and how I am rewriting it. Itâs a fantasy story with our main character, Princess Luna, princess to the most powerful kingdom, and how she needs to settle the situation with her twin sister that is set to rule the second most powerful kingdom, Princess Sol. There becomes more complications though as the universe canât decide if it wants to play by the old storyâs rules or if it wants to play by my revisions. Now, Luna, Ruby (another sister of Luna), and Eclipse (Sol in disguise.) must work together to fix the shattering world.Â
Pictured on the left is Ruby, middle is Eclipse, and right is Luna. (All of them use she/her pronouns)
Luna is your super sweet, brave, airhead type of character. Eclipse is your really shy and reserved character thatâs trying her best to deal with things. And Ruby is that mysterious older sibling type of character.Â
The current idea is that this will be a RPG game at some point! I am going to college for programming so, itâs something to work on for sure!Â
Definitely feel free to ask me questions about this one! I would love to talk about the first versions of these characters and their current versions.Â
Now for another game idea: Project Orbit
This isnât the actual name of this series but, I want to keep that a secret until I get to release this game. The gameplay would be a megaman style game.Â
Iâm not sure exactly how much I should say on this one. However, I feel itâs story is especially important.Â
Picture left is the gameâs main character, Cam (She/her). Right is an alien thatâs decently important to the story, Cor (He/him).Â
You can ask more about what Cam and Cor are like as characters though! However, I want to give very little about this oneâs story. I need it to be just right.Â
Then we arrive at my current main project, I am only going to give you the abbreviation of its name though: ORU
To the left we have Ridley (He/him) and to the right we have Fhone. They are going to be apart of a webcomic Iâm currently working on. I am not sure how much to give on their story considering Iâm almost done creating the entirety of chapter 1. So, Iâll give you these twoâs basic personalities instead.Â
Ridley is a very adventurous, ambitious, and extroverted person. He is reckless and most of the time just looking for a good time. He does care about the people around him though. He kind of tears himself apart when it comes to people getting hurt over things he could have avoided. Then there is Fhone. Fhone is a cautious artist character. She mostly makes wood carvings. She has known Ridley for a long time. She is strange in that she can blend into social situations but, she doesnât quite understand them. She has a good spirit for things though. She acts as a bit of a voice of reason for Ridley at times but, sometimes misses the obvious things.Â
My plan for when I am releasing the comic is to finish all the pages for chapter 1, write everything out for chapter 2, then start releasing my work on chapter 1. Hoping that with that chapter buffer Iâll be able to make work on chapter 2 in the meantime.Â
There are a few more characters from ORU that Iâll gladly talk about if asked, (basically the rest of the main 8) but, know that I canât give away too heavy of spoilers. :3
Aaaand, I think thatâs all the series for my OCs! If you have any questions about any of them please send them my way! :3

And now, my ranking of the Pokemon Evolutions episodes from worst to best. Iâll just be naming them by region, I canât remember the actual titles.
8) Alola. Honest to god, all this did was remind me what a trainwreck USUM was. Like okay, youâre showing us the evil Lusamine, and then whoops sheâs all worried after being spit back out. Lillie has her big moment with Nebby evolving, but oh whoops weâre gonna completely reverse that and just make Necrozma absorb them, remove Lillie from this narrative entirely, and have Selene 2.0 take care of it. It does nothing particularly interesting and is the worst story to adapt, so yeah, this one did nothing for me.
7) Sinnoh. Itâs relatively inoffensive, but it left me super disappointed, because a story concept around Barry sounds great. Like we get to explore a bit more of what heâs doing between events maybe, and see some more of that struggle over not being able to protect Uxie, and the purpose of his search for strength. But they donât...do that. Instead itâs just...hereâs his turnaround from a defeat to his victory, and leading up to him confronting his dad to beat him. It just doesnât add anything all that interesting or engaging for anyone involved, and kinda focuses on the wrong thing.
6) Kanto. Inoffensive enough, but man, I hate Letâs Go. I donât want to look at the Letâs Go protagonists, they bug me. Greenâs engaging, but thatâs just Leaf, and if I have to hear one more person insist that Generations canonized Green so Green is now able to show up in Masters Iâm gonna scream. The story itself isnât really doing much either, but Green is at least more engaging here than Barry was in his episode.
5) Hoenn. Itâs okay, but again not my favorite. Probably because I donât especially like Zinnia either. But it is fairly interesting that they set her up in this kind of light. Itâs been ages since I played the Delta Episode, but I donât remember her handing off responsibility to May being as emotional as this, so points there. I just also feel like itâs...not the most powerful of stories? It didnât make me feel too much overall.
4) Unova. Â The Unova episode was super good. Â Itâs basically the recap of Nâs life, but told through Ghetsisâ perspective, up to the leadup for the final confrontation. Â Itâs...really good. Â Ghetsisâ VA does some fantastic work. Â And the portrayal of N and his expressions really does a lot to sell that this is something heâs worked toward, but heâs not happy about it, all while Ghetsis is monologuing about what this does for him. Â It hits all the right notes and is just a really solid episode portraying what we essentially already know in a pretty unique way.
3) Kalos. Lysandre remains as confusing as ever, but if thereâs one thing Iâll seriously give this episode, itâs making me feel an awful lot of things with that conclusion. After heâs defeated and the announcement goes out, they play that clip of Lysandre as he used to be, and his speech is great and you can definitely see how people are interpreting it as a positive and how optimistic heâs being, but knowing the guy it also kinda rings like...this wasnât new or a surprise. Heâs always had this kind of mentality. And seeing the reactions of some of the others, like Sycamore, was great. I appreciated that we got a little bit of Sycamore actually pushing back on Lysandreâs ideals, and expressing the thematic idea Masters did more playing with that the future isnât guaranteed and you have to be willing to adapt. It wasnât the most intense or engaging, but goddamn did I leave feeling some stuff.
2) Johto. Man I would never have guessed Johto would be this high up, but goddamn do I love this episode. I think this is the first one where my praise is the visuals, but moreover the concept of this being a theatrical production. Zinniaâs episode didnât really make sense in why things would seem to pop to life and have a visible effect on the world, but here itâs clearly set up that these are visual effects produced by the Pokemon involved in the production, and itâs so cool! Itâs great to see the Kimono Girls with all their Eeveelutions, giving the Eeveelutions a role that really sells the story theyâre trying to convey. And thereâs a moment that is legitimately hilarious, and really cute. This one just feels great to watch. It feels organic and natural, like a thing that happens in day to day life. It looks fantastic and is really interesting to me in terms of what it sets up about this fairly minor detail of the Kimono Girls as actors, which is what I think these episodes should aspire to. The basic recaps donât really do it for me, theyâre fairly boring. But the ones that went in a new direction with something small, or dug a little deeper, felt really strong, because itâs new and engaging.
1) Galar. Which is how Galar, somehow, won this. Despite my general dislike of Galar as a region, this episode was really good. Like itâs kind of a shame this one went first, considering how lackluster the very next episode was, and how almost none of the others really compete with it in terms of impact. While Johto was about exploring a different aspect of things than weâd previously seen, Galar digs deep into Leon as a character, and what it presents is the best Iâve seen of the guy. The episode focuses on the leadup to his match with the protagonist (Victor, in this case), and the impact that the Eternatus fight had on him. We get to see a Leon whoâs visibly shaken, his confidence wavering, as he grapples with the fact that when things got serious, he wasnât able to stop it. The unbeatable champion got beat, and itâs weighing on him before his biggest showdown with the person who did save the region. And itâs these kinds of things I wish were explored more with Leon. The idea that heâs been doing this for years, built up as this idol as the unbeatable champion, and is constantly aspiring to be that kind of symbol for the region. So when he canât uphold that expectation, itâs a big blow, and his usually cheerful demeanor fades. We get this heavy emotion from a character who...barely speaks. The entire story is told through memory, interspersed with the announcer describing the upcoming match and what happened the day before, and as a result, thereâs not a clear cut explanation on exactly what Leon may be thinking or feeling, only the visual presentation that itâs something heavy that heâs grappling with. And I fucking love it. Itâs so effective at portraying depth to the character, while leaving it open enough to individual interpretation as to what specifically eats at him that makes it work so well. Honestly, if this episode wasnât as strong as it was, I donât know if I wouldâve even kept up with these. I usually donât. But goddamn it hit so hard that I had to see what the rest of it produced. And...it did not hold to this quality, but we at least had a few that had some impact.

Letâs Talk About Pokemon - Gen 7 Retrospective
That's at least a little more sizable than the XY generation was. Granted we have some Alolan Forms to help inflate the numbers a bit. Sure, if you were to count Gen 6âČs Mega Evolutions, Gen 7 would be the actual smallest Gen to date. But remember what I said last generation's recap with how Gamefreak seemed to be taking a âquality over quantityâ approach for that generation? That mentality seems to be back in full force here. 'Cause we're looking at my second favorite Gen right behind Gen 5.
I did bring up that Gen 6 was my third favorite generation in terms of the new, numerical Pokemon introduced. What has Alola muscle over it is how it's crammed as much inventiveness into the designs as they could think. The starters, the Legendaries/Kinda-Legendary Ultra Beasts, even the common fodder Pokemon have a little more going on than their typical ilk. And even some of the more boring designs like Oranguru and Passimian have interesting battle mechanics by changing the way you can approach double battles entirely on their own.
That also seemed to be a focus this generation. Not all of course, but a lot of the new Pokemon seemed to be based on different gameplay interactions and having unique abilities or signature moves. Between Salandit's Corrosion to Minior's Shields Down to Mimikyu's Disguise to Toucannon's Beak Blast and to Toxipex's Baneful Bunker. They really tried taking a shot at making each Pokemon have something unique to bring to battles. They even essentially made a more tournament-rules friendly alternative to Arceus in Silvally.
But there's a little subject more contentious about Gen 7 than the Pokemon, of course. That being the games themselves, which feel like they got the fandom split. I like Sun and Moon, but even I'll admit Gamefreak's gotta try a little harder for Gen 8. All the inventive things they've tried from a gameplay perspective ultimately don't change much. The game still had an 8-mini-act structure just like the Gym games. HMs getting replaced with Ride Pokemon is nice, but is still the same mechanic with different dressing. The biggest changes in the usual story structure don't even matter that much, the biggest change feeling like you get to know the region's Legendary Pokemon from the very start in the form of Nebby. Otherwise, it's just A Little Bit Better Written Than Usual. Y'know, not that Pokemon games tend to be master classes in writing anyway, its only real competition there being Black and White's story. (And even then, Sun and Moon's in desperate need of a Skip Cutscene button.)
Then thereâs the Letâs Go games, which I suppose are technically Gen 7 games. Those got even more divisive. Some love it, others hate it. I personally just find it boring as a rather dumbed down remake of the Kanto games, only really playing because it was an excuse to use Melmetal. Thereâs some neat things in there that I wouldnât mind seeing implemented in the main series (namely overworld-wandering Pokemon and AVs replacing EVs.) Just please keep the very poorly implemented Go-imitating catch mechanics as far away from the main series as possible.
Pokemonâs also starting to get more competition recently as well. Other than Digimon of course. Ni No Kuni, eventually Tem Tem, of course, the rise of the mighty Yokai Watch, which to my understanding, has been wrecking Pokemon in terms of sale numbers in their home region. Each of them implementing monster-catching RPG mechanics in their own unique way. I canât speak for Yokai Watch, but Ni No Kuni is a lot more like a traditional JRPG, with the monsters being familiars that still fight in battle, but the trainers themselves also participate in the battle as well! And Tem Tem, while very much like Pokemon, is giving it more of an MMO angle. While Iâm not one to shout about how much Pokemon just NEEDS to make an MMO with ALL THE REGIONS already, I am interested in seeing where TemTem winds up. It IS a Kickstarter game that made way more than it asked for, but as we know from a certain Strong Numerical Value That Is One Less Than Ten, thatâs no guarantee itâll be amazing. But worth keeping an eye on. It still has the potential to be something Gamefreakâs gonna have to watch out for.
Whether I like these other games or not, I appreciate that they exist, because they mean that sooner or later Gamefreak's gonna have to get their ass in gear and do something about it. I'm really getting burnt out on a new Pokemon game coming out literally every year. What I've wanted more than ever is for Gamefreak to at least take a hiatus from the yearly releases to have the game that comes after said break to really kick it out of the park. I get that the Ultra games probably didn't take up much development time and from my understanding Let's Go was made by a whole different team, so those games coming out in the years between Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield might not have much bearing on the latter's quality, but still. Pokemon's not had a major mechanical update since they introduced Abilities in Gen 3. I just hope Gen 8 does something interesting or has some form of major mechanical overhaul. Not asking Pokemon battles to be in real time or anything. Just some new Super Forms and powerful one-off moves arenât gonna cut it for me. After over 20 years of Pokemoning and on, what, year 8 of a new Pokemon game coming out every year? I'm a little bit fatigued.
...Okay, let's end this on a better note than that.
I AM still exciting to see what Gen 8 has to offer, and I hope they mean it when they say they're trying something different. And of course, I'm ALWAYS gonna be excited to see some more new Pokemon. Gens 5, 6, and 7 are proving they're nowhere close to being out of steam yet, and I can't wait to see more Gen 8 Pokemon come our way in the coming months.
Top 10 Favorites of Gen 7:
Dangit this is hard. So many to love! So many new super-duper-tippity-top favorites!! Shout outs to Palossand, Silvally, Salandit, Xurkitree, and Buzzwole. There's just too many good'ens!!!!
Bottom 10 Least Favorite of Gen 7:
Amazingly, the only Pokemon here I really âdislikeâ is Zeraora. The rest are just that cherry-picked handful of Alolan Pokemon I don't really care that much about. Hurray!
Bottom 10 Least Favorite Overall:
Almost got through with no new additions. Almost.
The Cutest:
God this Generation was good for Pokemon I just want to pick up and hug. Or in Mimikyu's case, get horrendously murdered by because I got a little too close to taking its rag off. And I'd still say âThanks.â
The Coolest:
The Prettiest:
The Spookiest:
This gen was really good to scratch a Halloweeny itch. A BUNCH of cool new ghosts, complete with the eerie head leech Pokemon I never wouldâve suspected would make it into Pokemon!
Most Creative:
Weirdest/Most Unique:
This section here could've been filled with Ultra Beasts alone if I really wanted to, haha.
Most Forgettable:
Magearna is here not necessarily because I think the design is forgettable, but gee wizz I keep thinking it's not a Gen 7 Pokemon.
Most Personality:
Here's a new section! Gen 7 had a lot of personality-based designs, so there was actually a fair bit of competition for a slot like this. Buzzwole and Bewear are just hilarious, and I'm still thoroughly impressed with Meltan. They managed to cram so much adorable personality into such a simple design. And Iâll eat my hat the day we get a Pokemon more smug than Salandit.
Most Under-Appreciated:
Poor Stakataka keeps getting dismissed because of its bad typing... not that I can blame anyone because Rock/Steel is easily the most boring of all the UB typings, especially when we had room to have a Ghostly duo between it and Blacephalon to have us our first Rock/Ghost type!
Most Long Overdue Concepts:
Seriously, how'd it take 7 generations to get a wolf and a mosquito? Let alone 6 generations to finally get a second MANTIS and traditional horse Pokemon?! As far as spooky Pokemon go, you'd think a shipwreck would be one of the easier and more obvious concepts to go after, even if the one we finally got didn't take the form I expected it to. And Araquanid's just here because a fully evolved BUG/WATER was a long time frickin coming.
Best Regional Variants:
At least I'm naming the category that way because Regional Variants better be a series mainstay from now on!! These are the Alolan Forms with the most fun alternate take on their original forms. And Vulpix and Ninetales are there because fox solidarity.
Best Ultra Beasts:
Again, I really hope Ultra Beasts won't be an Alola-Only thing. I want to avoid talking about Gen 8 spoilers to be considerate of anyone that wants to avoid those, but a certain image carved into the ground in a particular scene has me hoping Ultra Beasts might be returning. And that Xurkitree could have a big brother in the near future. There's hardly much basis because said carving could literally be anything, but. Please.
Anyway, I love the Ultra Beasts as a concept of extra-dimensional alien beings. Some sell the look of freaky aliens better, especially ones like Nihilego, Xurkitree, Kartana, and Celesteela. But nonetheless, these 6 are my favorites out of our roster. HOPEFULLY so far.
Pokemon That Shouldâve Gotten Alolan Forms:
I tend to agree that limiting Alolan Forms to Gen 1 Pokemon only was a silly thing to do, but even minding that, I feel like there was crazy amounts of missed potential here. Seel and Dewgong just desperately need some fresh attention to stop being Pokemonâs more forgettable critters. While I suppose Lapras and Tentacruel are excusable given theyâre sea dwellers regardless, I totally wouldnât mind electric jellyfish versions of the Tentas, or even a Kracken-based form for the former. This was also MORE than an opportunity to redeem Dragonite with a more Dragonair-like variant. And some tropical jungle variations of Paras and Venonat would be neat. Iâm just saying, a Venomoth turned into more of a Tropical Hawkmoth wouldâve been killer.
And Parasect hurts the most. Youâre telling youâre gonna have Parasect inhabit this jungle area along with another, brand new mushroom Pokemon. AND youâre gonna introduce the concept of Gen 1 Pokemon taking on new forms based on the new and radically different habitats in Alola. And youâre just NOT gonna place some glowing mushrooms on their backs, turn them pale white, and call them Bug/Fairy types?!?!?! Hello?!?!!??!?
...Oh, am I forgetting something?
Top 50 Favorites Overall:
...Surprise! Yeah, just sorta decided âwhy not?â This is our last Gen for the rest of the year, so let's end it on a âLook At All My Favorites!â type of a bang. Also because it pained me to see all these not make it to some sort of Top Favorites highlight. And of course, they might not be 100% consistent with scores or previous Top 10 favorites. I'm only a human with a finicky brain that is constantly changing how absolutely precisely I feel about every single one of these.Â
And... that's it... that's every single Pokemon reviewed. Every single Gen Recapped. We've had lots of ups and downs and plenty of getting a little too excited about cartoon animals. Gen 8 is still a ways away, and even when it comes out, I'd like to wait a few months to let the new designs settle into my mind before I go writing opinion pieces on all of them. And of course, for official artwork to be out for everybody.
BUT I do have a handful of ways to pass the time until Gen 8 does come out... What's up next exactly? Well, we won't have to wait too long, thankfully...

SM074 - Thoughts
Holy cow... that was some tough ride. First it makes you laugh, then it crushes you, then it rekindles your inner light. So to speak. If you ask me, Iâd say this was an episode well executed. UlaâUla Arc continues on strong!
Satoshi is finally on UlaâUla island Territory, and we get some others news during the scene before opening song kicks in: Alola League is being set up and both Kaki and Satoshi are fired up! We donât have to argue about Alola League possibility anymore! : D
(Warning, I went quite analysive on this post, specifically about Sakaki and Kuchinashi. Be prepared for a really long post. lol)
I wonât like, it kinda feels hard to figure out where to start. So, why donât we start with Rocket Gang, because well, the classmates arenât here, and our only shots of them was from the beginning where Alola League was confirmed by Kukui, who then asked everyone to help out with setting it up. I wonder when itâll be up for attendance!
Anyway, Rocket Gang!
While their role in this episode was more of a sideplot and to foreshadow future events, their scenes were very enjoyable and each episode of Sun & Moon makes me love them more and more. Musashi is daydreaming about Mimikkyu-Z move, and Kojiro & Nyarth are just a bit farther looking at the overjoyed Musashi, a bit bummed? Apparently sheâs not letting the Z-ring up lol. Typical Musashi. When they see Satoshi the Brat Boy come to Ula Ula via Ship (this kinda reminds me of how they always used to following him on the same ship, esp. at the start of both Hoenn and Sinnoh.), they notice no classmates and immediately realise they might have a chance at winning against him. While we all know theyâre doomed to fail (because they really are, nothing is confirmed but I find it hard to believe theyâd win, as much as I want them to), I wish them luck! :3
We then cut to Kuchinashi, who seems to be sleepy, and wants to go take a nap somewhere else than the Police Station. It seems like heâs actually an active policeman in Pokeani. Was he in the games? Local Junsa calls him out in slacking, tho he pretends heâs on patrol and then heads back to Police Station, claiming he forgot something.
Looks like he was just trying to avoid his over a dozen Alolan Nyarth who keep on asking for food. Iâm not cat owner, but apparently this is very relatable. :D This was a cute scene and all, but the next scene is the most intriquing one.
Kuchinashi receives as call, and while he tries to avoid answering it at first, hoping whoever is phoning him would give up, he eventually picks it up and oh guess whoâs there:
Had I not seen the preview, Iâd have been more suprised! But I did gasp at the scene while seeing it live thou.
And Sakaki is addressing Kuchinashi as an old friend? What is their deal here? I mean, SM073 already explained that the two know each other, but it looks like their relationship is deeper (And I mean more mysterious by it). Sakaki doesnât seem to be aware of Kuchinashi being both Island King and police officer thou so... did they know each other before Kuchinashi became Island King or before he even became a police officer? Is Kuchinashi in Pokeani actually an ex-con who turned to the right side of the law? Thereâs more to this dialogue that makes me really curious. After small talk, Sakaki says that âhe now gets itâ. Getâs what exactly? He then tries to pry info out of Kuchinashi about âKagayaki-samaâ, which we localisation fans know as The Blinding One (see whatâs being foreshadowed?). I didnât know what exactly this was until later during the episode when I watched it live, but I had a hunch he might be asking about it. And I was correct. This is the first hint of an incoming arc about Necrozma, and with Sakaki being involved, a possible Rainbow Rocket arc! I am beyond stoked and excited!
The way Kuchinashi reacts to the question is really interesting as well. I bet he does know, as we later know it is part of another legend told on Alola. But he seems certain on not letting Sakaki know, telling him he's never heard of it (the man keeps on lying to everyone, pffffft). So, I doubt heâs in league with Rocket Gang but, he might have had some past with them before. More specifically with Sakaki. What kind thou? Guess weâll find out later this... summer? Autumn? Winter? This arc specifically? Iâm finding it hard to predict future stuff for Sun & Moon, it always suprises me in different ways.
Sakaki expected a lousy answer from Kuchinashi, but like, this line has me so curious? Just what is Sakaki planning? I think heâs gonna have a big part in Necrozma arc, and Pokeani might try doing something original with merging ideas of Rainbow Rocket, Necrozma and the post-game stuff from Sun & Moon games (NOT Ultra ones, since Ultra replaced the Post Game from original games to Rainbow Rocket). Anyway, this quite intense Phone Call is finally hung up (Sakaki didnât seem too pleased, calling his name just when Kuchinashi says heâs hanging up. He didnât sound mad or anything, it was quite a calm and collective voice, but it was like he was trying to intimidate him? Idk) after Satoshi starts shouting outside, looking for the Island King himself. I guess our depressed Nyarth cop got off the hook, so to say? At least for now.
Maybe I should have put this part of this post as a seperate one, but... Iâm not sure how to format it. If people want me to put it seperately, I can do so. But, moving on!
Well, before we move on with the plot of this episode, Satoshi gets piled up with Kuchinashiâs Nyarth, and Bevenom causes bit of chaos by shooting some... stuff, at them. Then Bevenom provokes the cats and a fight between Satoshiâs friends and Alolan Nyarth occurs. The cats won. lol Poor Satoshi. Rought start for this Island Pilgrimare.
And once again, when Kuchinashi gets asked himself as an Island King, he lies, saying Kuchinashi is his co-worker and currently on a patrol. Pfffft. Heâs got some tough nerves to keep on lying to strangers. On top of it all, he tricks Satoshi into keeping company to the Alolan Nyarth âuntil Kuchinashi comes backâ. Ruuuuude! He seems to be quite fed up with life. : D But this keeps his character interesting, heâs totally my fav Kahuna now. Sorry Lychee.
Kuchinashi does take note to Lugarugan and Bevenom specifically before tricking Satoshi into playing with the Nyarth thou. Doing a good job as Island King :)
So... Satoshi is dead from keeping company before the break time. Poor thing. These Alolan Nyarth sure are attention-hungry. (The Commercial Breaktime part is announced by Sakaki and somehow it gives me shivers lol)
After showing how exhausted Satoshi is, which is possibly because of playing with the cats for hours, Acerola shows up, searching for Uncle Kuchinashi. I have to say, the way sheâs animated during this scene is so cute and gorgeus at the same time? Sheâs absolutely beautiful in Pokeani, they nailed here so well â„
Well, after Satoshi explains Kuchinashi isnât here and how heâs staying there until the âother officerâ comes back, Acerola blows the old manâs cover. Satoshiâs reaction is a lot calmer compared to Rocket Gan Trioâs, but you can see heâs a bit suprised. Heâs also quite calm about Mimi-tan being a ghost. The pictures Rotom took were quite spooky... Acerola then offers Satoshi to take him to Kuchinashi, as if knowing sheâll know how to find him. This girl knows this man well, huh?
And just look at this animation, itâs perfection. The leg movement, the pose, the cuteness, the gorgeusness! Thatâs it, sheâs my fav Pokeani character now. Iâm gonna be sad when Ula Ula Arc is over Iâm so sad sheâs not a classmate ;_; She better appear more later on!
Back on topic, they head to the library Acerola works at, and after a small introduction to the place, Acerola brings up a book about a local legend, to which Bevenom seems to show being curious on. And so am I!
To explain it shortly, legend is about The Blinding One (Ultra Necrozma), Lunala and Solgaleo bringing light to a newly founded Alola Region, which was without a light at the time. If you want a full recap, Iâll point you to this post.
So, we now know some lore about Alola in Pokeaniverse! I love lore, and I was stoked to learn about Pokeaniâs version of the Necrozma legend. Itâs a bit different to the game one, where the Blinding One is a legend told in Ultra Megaopolis instead of Alola, and itâs actually about Necrozma itself instead of Ultra Necrozma. I wonder how theyâll showcase the hostile, incomplete Necrozma, whoâs supposed to be in constant pain unless it fuses with Lunala/Solgaleo... hmmmmm. Iâm worrying over Hoshigumo/Nebby now. Because of the Pokedex entries.
Acerola then informs Satoshi that Uncle Kuchinashi believes The Blinding One to be an Ultra beast. This bit also confirms Kuchinashi knows about the legend, and lied to Sakaki about. XD Ofc, the mafia boss didnât believe him.
Well, what we didnât see until the last second of the scene is that Rocket Gang is back to tailing Satoshi, and they have now learned about the tale of The Blinding One. They donât know that Sakaki knows about it already, because they want to go and inform him right away. Weeell, they get scolded by Matori later in the episode for not bringing in new info anyway. Poor buffoons.
Small bits I like about this episode: How Mokuroh is absolutely adorable throughout it (I want to see the part where Satoshi feeds Mokuroh giffed itâs so CUTE) and Mimi-tan actually fancying Pikachu, unlike some other Mimikyu we know :))
I gotta say, the dynamic between Satoshi and Acerola is quite enjoyable. Satoshi is shown a bit restless here, wanting to go search for Kuchinashi at the Police Station, while Acerola just with proudness claims that thereâs no need. Because sheâs got the ultimate weapon for getting him to her: the hostage! Of his Kendama toy.
Sheâs adorable. How did Kuchinashi end up becoming her carer. Thatâs it this is my new Discord avatar. Welp. Her hostage works, because Kuchinashi comes right to her house.
I think this line confirmes Satoshi is gonna do another trial before SM077, and I think itâll be the Ghost Trial. Maybe itâs a bit different to the games, since SM076 is gonna be Musashiâs Mimikyu VS Satoshiâs Pikachu. And theyâre hyping it with different summaries, a lot. Weâll see, Iâm not really having any ideas how they could portray Totem Mimikyu in the same episode. But I can see him getting the Ghost-Z Crystal. Anyway, letâs move on.
Kuchinashi denies Satoshiâs challenge, stating he can already see that heâs not strong enough to challenge them. He even tells him to go back to Melemele. Kinda harsh. Acerola convinces him to give the boy a try thou (by giving him glares and claming Kuchinashi is just finding his job a pain), so theyâre gonna do a Pre-Trial for Trials. : D Which btw, is the highlight of this episode. I love how Kuchinashi seems to be unable to say no to Acerola. What a duo they are.
So, Kuchinashi uses Waruvial with the Intimidate Ability, while Satoshi uses Lugarugan, who showed interest in fighing earlier. However, we can see Lugarugan getting intimidated by this ability, and as we know, heâs got anger issues.
Btw, Kuchinashi doesnât show a single interest in this fight. He looks bored. He knows heâs gonna win.
Well, each time Lugarugan gets intimidated by Waruvial, it gets angrier, and Satoshi notices this. He tries to calm Lugarugan, and well, so far itâs still listening, but...
None of Lugaruganâs move have an effect on Waruvial, and Kuchinashi manages to get Lugarugan trapped in a Sand Tomb. And well, this is where things get really serious.
Red-Eyed Lugarugan is back, and itâs not because of dirt, but because of not being able to control his own anger. I feel bad for thinking it was due to dirt. SM069 already kinda showed that it wasnât related to dirt, because Lugarugan was dirty there. But letâs continue. Because this is where I start feeling ache in my heart.
Honestly, Satoshi looks terrified here. He knows whatâs gonna happen. He knows already he wonât be able to control him! And heâs right!
The fight turns into Lugarugan not listening to any words Satoshi says, and it just keeps on biting Waruvial like a wild raging dog. Itâs scary. Itâs terrifying. And Satoshi has every right to be scared. But Kuchinashi?
Heâs just being rude ass here, like heâs enjoying this scenario here. He seems so savage during this whole scene. Like heâs toying with the boy. And I sort of want to slap Kuchinashi for this, but then again, I love what Pokeani is doing with him here! We havenât had Gym Leaders like him before, and to top it all, this is the first Dark-Type specialist Satoshi has to beat. Acerola is scared at Lugarugan here.
Kuchinashi does creepy smiles here while waiting for the right moment to counter enraged Lugarugan. You can see heâs a dark-type specialist. It sort of flows around him. Once the following scenes happens thou...
Cue the screenshot that starts breaking me. Seriously. We havenât seen him look like this in whole Alola! Heâs breaking!
And when Kuchinashi orders Waruvial to use Crunch, and it lands on Lugarugan perfectly...
Cue the most heartbreaking scene I have ever seen of Satoshi. I mean it. This is what breaks my heart! XYZâs loss against Wurfic wasnât enough, thou it was close! And I just had to see this similar shot of someone else in another show, so to see it this soon in Pokeani, with Satoshi, hurts so god damn much!
Lugarugan falls down, and the fight is over.
With Satoshi in disbelief. Seriously. I started crying few moments ago already. He looks so devastated. Heâs lost before. But somehow this loss hurt so much more than other losses.
When he goes to Lugarugan and asks him if itâs alright, seriously, he looks like heâs about to cry. Heâs at the line of the breaking point.
And heâs certainly keeping it in! Heâs about to cry! ;_; And so am I hold on. I have to point out that Rica Matsumotoâs performance in this scene, and the next, is absolutely beautiful and I applaud her for a job well done.
Kuchinashi just straight up tells Satoshi that he should go back to Melemele Island. But the way Satoshi says the following line?
Heâs saying it with the kind of voice that implicates that heâs so ready to cry and heâs determined on not giving up! I love this boy, and due to how impactful this scene is, I love the whole sequence of the scene, from start of the fight to the finish of this scene, whole lot!
This is the Satoshi weâve learned to love. Determined to never give up. Determined to stay on the Island and train to become stronger, to be able to beat Kuchinashi. Itâs admirable, inspiring, and I was once again reminded why this boy is such a golden one. I canât believe I used to think lousy stuff about him years ago. I feel awful.
Anyway, Kuchinashi then tells him to do as he pleases. We then have another foreshadowing from Rocket Gang for the SM076, and I kinda explained the scene before, so, moving on! (Sorry Rocket Gang you know I love them D:)
The final scene is a good one as well. Lugarugan is sulking alone about the loss, and Satoshi goes to him, talking about how heâs frustrated, and how they werenât able to do anything during the battle. It was very one-sided after all. Heâs clearly disappointed. But then he apologizes to Lugarugan, like he seems to believe itâs his fault he canât control Lugaruganâs anger issues. And well. Heâd never blame his Pokemon. His friends. He then asks Acerola about where he could train on UlaâUla Island, and Acerola suggests on meeting with Kapu-Bulul. Which is next weekâs episode!
The end of SM074! I donât know why I went such detail on this one. Iâm blaming it on plot elements, creating my new favourite scene in Pokeani, making me love Acerola and Kuchinashi more, etc etc etc. If you guys managed to read this all, I applaud you. And sorry for sucha long post. :âD
Pokeproblem of the episode is stunning. Kuchinashi loves teasing his Nyarth.
While the preview talks about Island Kings resembling the Island Deityes by their personalities (bless the preview dialogues), weâll be heading to the Ruins of Abudance, where Kapu-Bulul resides. And theyâll be crossing the desert to get there! Time for some slacker training!
Kapu-Bulul! Intense Slacker Training! Cya all next week!

Future Plot: Here Comes the Next Gen (Reboot) - Chapter 1 (Part 2)
(( Camille belongs to @inklingleesquidly
Celeste and Willow belong to @alpinesquid
Nebula belongs to @myzzy and @agenttwo / @nyanamo
Agent 7 and Telemachus (Neo-Agent 3) belong to me
Nova (mentioned) belongs to @tentamissile-rush / @splat-tendency and @marchant-girls / @eiden-squid ))
Camille noticed Celeste and her friend about to approach her and Nebula. She has kind of expected Celeste and her friend to be around Arowana Mall. She also noticed the unknown Inkling boy in the Hero suit replica that arrived through a super-jump. This Inkling, she has no idea who he is or what heâs doing here.
Celesteâs friend is your usual squid, wearing the freshest fashion of her choice. Sheâs an inkling thatâs 3 inches shorter than Celeste with light brown skin, light green eyes, and purple ink-hair with dark purple spots. Her ink-hair is tied back into a braided ponytail similar to Camilleâs, but this tail is shorter. She wore a white sailor suit, a straw boater hat, and blue lo-tops.
Camille was familiar with Celesteâs friend. Her name is Willow.
The unknown inkling was light-skinned with long, ashy green ink-hair, green star eyes, and a familiar mole on his left cheek. Camille has seen the inklingâs suit before, and it was mostly from a few inklings from Inkopolis; it was something called a âhero jacket replicaâ. He was also armed with this circular shield with a blue swirl on it.
This one, Camille isnât familiar with.
Celeste just gasps in amazement as she saw the unknown inkling land. She recognizes the attire and ran up to him with her friend following. Celeste and Willow were just two steps away from where Camille and Nebula were sitting.
The inkling in the hero jacket replica jumped off the beach rocks and landed in the sand. He approached Camille and friends. Celeste was the first to run up to him with Willow following her.
âWhere did you get the jacket?â Celeste awed. âI really like it!â
The inkling didnât respond. He gave this neutral stare, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
âUhm, forgive Celeste, she really likes these things,â Willow explained.
The inkling then spoke, âItâs alright. I get that a lot whenever I wear this.â He adjusted the collar of his jacket. âI heard my dad was in Inkopolis. I decided to check the city out.â
âDo you have a name?â Willow politely asked.
âYou may call me Neo-Agent 3,â the inkling boy replied.
It was obvious to Celeste that Neo-Agent 3 wonât give out his real name. She knows it would blow his cover. She has her hand out, offering Neo-Agent 3 a handshake, looking eagerly nervous.
âM-my nameâs Celeste,â she began, âI think you already know because Willow mentioned my name to you.â She gave a little giggle. âItâs so good to meet an agent in-person.â
Neo-Agent 3 nods and shakes Celeste's hand. Celeste actually decided to bring Neo-Agent 3 to Camille and Nebula, much to Camilleâs lack of interest. Nebula found it a bit sudden for Celeste to introduce someone new, but she went along with this event.
âHello there, my name is Neo-Agent 3.â Neo-Agent 3 began.
âIf there another name we can call you?â Camille asked, not liking the Agent name.
âTelemachus.â Neo-Agent 3 then narrows his eyes at Camille and Nebula. âYou two look familiar. Have we met?â
âIf you recognize us as the Neo-Squid Sisters, yes, we are them. Weâre just not in our outfits.â Camille leans back a bit. âThe name is Camille, and this is my cousin, Nebula.â
âCousins, just like the original Squid Sisters.â Telemachus gave a slight smile, though his eyes were a slight glare. âThey were Callie and Marie.â
âThose are our momsâ names,â Nebula pointed out, âMarie is my mom, and Callie is my cousinâs mom.â
âCoincidence,â Telemachus replied, âYou know a friend of mine in Alexandria district had most of your songs, mostly your music, Nebula. He always boasts about how heâll win your heart one day.â
âYour friend really said that?â Nebula wasnât that surprised, thinking itâs just another big fan.
âYeah really.â Telemachus flips his long ink hair. âHeâs a musician too. One time he tried to send you a letter, requesting a duet.â
âIâŠ. never got the letter.â Nebula was a bit surprised that she has a fan this devoted to her.
âWow, Nebby, I guess youâre the one in the Neo-Squid Sisters that attracts all the weirdoes.â Camille gets a slight glare of embarrassment from Nebula. Camille chuckles. âAnd I donât think thereâs a chance that your friend will get her.â
Telemachus folds arms. âFigures; is there a something in the way of my friendâs love for Nebula?â
âThereâs our friend, Emerald.â Camille pondered a bit. âI can tell that she has a crush on Nebula.â
âCamille!â Nebula is already blushing, covering her face.
âNothing to be embarrassed about,â Celeste assured, âMany of us have a secret crush.â
âYeah, many of us do,â Willow agreed.
âDoes that include you, Camille?â Telemachus wondered.
âPfft. Please, I not gonna slow down for lovey-dovey stuff.â Camille sticks her tongue at the idea. âBesides, who needs love.â
Telemachus smiled. âI guess this will be the start of a new friendship.â
âWe just met,â Camille commented, âBut I guess it is⊠for now.â
When the sun was setting, Willow had to leave early along with Nebula. They had things to do with their parents. Camille, Telemachus, and Celeste still had time at the beach near Arowana Mall.
They all hung out at a pier, watching the sunset.
Telemachus had a lot to say about the Agency to Celeste. Camille was uninterested, and she was mostly pretending to listen and be amazed by the stories he told. But inside, Camille found Telemachus boring.
âAnd that how the supercomputer and I got along and cooperated.â Telemachus showed his shield. âThis shield here is what houses Xenia. Currently, sheâs back in Alexandria district, getting updated by a friend of mine.â
âWill she get along with us if you bring her next time?â Celeste wondered.
âShe gets a bit shy, but sheâll get used to new faces.â Telemachus looked at Camille. âYou seems quiet.â
âOh, me? Oh no, I was listening to every word,â Camille replied with a smile.
Telemachus sighs and continues watching the sunset. âI can tell you werenât listening. Itâs alright.â Telemachus sighed in disappointment. âYouâre not like others, I guess.â
Camille rolls her eyes.
Telemachus did realize he was talking a bit too much about his profession and himself. He should be talking about Camille and her friends, so he decided to do just that.
âI hear youâre called the Fasted Squid Alive,â Telemachus respected, âhow did you get that name?â
Now there was a topic Camille is willing to talk about. âI race a lot. Iâve been racing ever since I was young. I outran every squid on my go-kart, and...â
Telemachus looked at her with a wink and a smile. Camille looked away.
âAnd I did win most of the race tournaments,â Camille continued, âAnd no other race was able to challenge my speed, even Nova always ends up second.â
âNova?â Telemachus raised an eyebrow.
âHeâs a friend and rival of mine,â Camille explained.
âAnd Iâve seen her out race everyone at that raceway.â Celeste has seen one of the races before. âAnd she hopes to one day be known far and wide as a Racecar Champion in history.â
âOh please, Celeste.â Camille expects to get that title already.
Celeste and Camille laugh a bit and then sigh.
âAnd how about you, Celeste, why do you like the Agency so much?â Telemachus wondered.
âBecause one day I want to join their ranks⊠if they have ranks.â Celeste scratched the back of her head. âItâs my dream to become an agent.â She gave a grin.
Telemachus knew Celeste has a lot to learn. He nods. âIâm sure youâll be able to join some day. But enough about the agency for now, what do you usually do for a hobby?â
âSoccerâŠ.. or football.â Celeste shook her head. âOr whatever they call it nowadays. I play really well in the sports. There are sometimes I can end up with scrapes on my knees and a few aches, but that wonât stop me from playing.â
âThen youâre a trooper,â Telemachus declared, âThen again, watch your health, but still youâre a trooper.â
The sun is now sinking into the horizon.
âCamille, Celeste, Iâm glad to end this beginning of our friendship on a good note.â Telemachus adjusted his ink hair.
âYou can say that,â Camille smirked.
âYup.â Celeste stretches her arms a bit.
This kind of friendship might as well be established.
Camille, Nebula, and Celeste were back in school, meeting in Agent 7âs Biology class. He was lecturing to them an introduction to Biology, starting with defining science, refreshing the memory of last science class, and giving a brief lecture on the chemistry.
âAnd make sure these are in your notes. Some will be crucial to your first test,â Agent 7 reminded.
Camille was doodling while taking her notes; she was using an erasable pen instead of a pencil. Nebula noticed her doodles but didnât say anything. Â Yes, they were mean in nature, but they didnât seem that offensive to Agent 7.
Minutes later, Agent 7 standing over Camille, arms folded. Â He finally noticed the doodles. Camille knew she was busted.
Agent 7 took a closer look at the notes along with the doodles. His reaction was unexpected: he sighed and smiled, commenting, âI get that a lot from my trainees back in Alexandria District, these doodles are far better than what my trainees say about me.â He walked away from Camille.
Camille rolls her eyes. She erased the doodles and actually focuses on taking notes. At least she didnât end up in detention, she thought.
Agent 7 then continued his lecture. He didnât even say Camille will be in detention. âAs I was saying, the scientific method is going to be very important in all of our experiments, and one day each of you will be making their own biology experiment for the finals.â
The bell rings and everyone in the biology class leaves. Agent 7 stops Camille.
âOne moment, Camille, thereâs something I want to talk to you about.â Agent 7 had her waiting at her desk. âThereâs something I want to offer.â
âPass.â Camille wasnât interested, but Agent 7 kept her in the class.
Agent 7 took out a late pass and signed it just in case with Camilleâs name on it. It was just in case.
âJust hear me out, Camille. Iâll make it worth your while,â Agent 7 convinced.
âThe only thing worth my while from you is not seeing your face in the halls, goodbye.â Camille headed toward the door.
âCanât you at least spare sometime after school to come back to this class to hear me offer?â Agent 7âs talk with Camille was urgent.
Camille stopped. She sighed and turned to look at Agent 7. âAfterschool, I promise.â
When the last school bell rings, Agent 7 was back in the biology class. Camille did return as promised, but she had a look on her face that said she would like to be somewhere else. Agent 7 acknowledged this and started.
âHere is my offer: I want you to join this special program in Alexandria District on Winter Break. It will be worth your while as it includes things from the automotive tech class.â Agent 7 was aware she didnât get that class.
Camille seemed interested, but she doesnât seem convinced enough. ââDoesnât mean Iâll join. Whatâs the catch?â
âThere is some training in addition to the class you want.â Agent 7 confessed.
âWhat training?â Camille narrowed her eyes, stepping closer.
âItâs just some special training meant for kids like you,â Agent 7 answered, âI assure you that if you do this, it will help you with the career you want.â
Camille was almost convinced, but she still isnât sure about this âtrainingâ that came with it. Then again, she didnât see it as a problem as long as she gets into that automotive tech class. She decided to take that chance with caution.
âIâll consider it,â Camille replied before leaving the class.
As Agent 7 watches her leave he sighed. âJust like them.â

usum possibility thoughts
bc i just think its so interesting how the usum games are denoted as alternate stories to the sumo games. if you think about it, technically every pair of games are alternates to each other, but in the sumo games, it really got on another level. it wasnt just the legendary pokemon, but everything surrounding them. the sun/moon motifs, the day/night stuff, all of it.Â
the thing thats most interesting, though, is the lake of moone/sunne. itâs such an expansive and impressive mapped area, and you can see it has a history. you can see the parts in disarray, but besides that, the parts that look almost damaged, or purposely obstructed. and the pmc cafe guy mentions off the shore that it has a feeling of âsomething moreâ, something that could possibly happen
i really feel like the lake will play a big part in the usum games, it just has such an odd aura surrounding it, yknow? and thats another thing. walking through the halls, it reminded me a lot of nâs castle. something cult-y.
and when you think about it, thatâs an aspect missing from the games. you have gods from other worlds and altars and statues constructed all around the islands, and the lake of moone/sunne, and all the tapus, and how once, the tapus fought with the island ubs/legendaries. you have an evil âteamâ already thats devoted to all the scientifical aspects of the regionâs lore, how far out would it be to assume there could be a group like plasma, a group who worships these pokemon and actively seeks out praise from them, perhaps doing unsavory things in attempts to please their gods, or even more, to summon them.
team skull was there for the ride, doing their own thing. and aether was only concerned with nihilego, the ub mohn had been studying before he disappeared.Â
with the ub quest and the faller culture as well, i feel a team in usum with goals driven to summoning the islandâs gods wouldnât be far off, especially if a faller led this team, and wanted to use the legendaries to go back to their own world.
so those are general thoughts. below are just some âalternateâ things i think could change to impact the usum storyline, along with just some fun speculation.Â
one. team skull takes on a more serious approach and actually has a goal. this one could go either way, since their lofty style got a lot of love from the fans and i donât know if i can see them changing that much.Â
two. mohn is a valid character, and works with professor burnet and/or is an accredited scientist. i feel this would especially be a possibility if perhaps the aether foundationâs goals changed. mohn could be an active voice of reason on the dangers of ultraspace and the ubs.
three. gladion never takes type:null and is an active member of the aether foundation. hey, if itâs an alternate storyline, things like this could happen and leave an impact.
four. gladion has a type:null, but is also still a member of the aether foundation.
five. multiple characters, such as lillie/guzma/mohn, are fallers
six. there is a predetermined kahuna for poni. this one i feel is especially likely, since it would give more purpose for mina and her future trial. whether the kahuna is hapu or someone else is also up for grabs.
seven. perhaps it is not lusamine who is aether president, but mohn. also, perhaps aether is obsessed w ubs bc mohn is a faller trying to get home.
eight. the player is from sinnoh. this could be a further tie in to all of burnetâs research on sinnoh legends, a further gateway to dimensions, et cetera.Â
nine. lillie has a different role. now these games arenât planned as future sequels like bw2, so im not saying that, but lillie could be different. for starters, her initial appearance could be her âz-poweredâ appearance, and not a stark embodiment of a nihilego.Â
ten. perhaps, instead of being targeted by aether, lillie and nebby are targeted by team skull/a new team/necrozma. heh? bc we know necrozma plays a bigger part, and is an ub killer.
eleven. perhaps instead of type:null research to contain the ubs, aether focuses research on necrozma, who hunts ubs.Â
twelve. unlikely, but, guzma could be a trial captain. as well, molayne could still be a trial captain. kahili could be a trial captain.
thirteen. instead of the altercation at the end being on poni at the altar of sunne/moone, the final climax of the plot is at the lake of sunne/moone, or equal parts between.
fourteen. po town is a legit and model town. hey, alternate story, remember? could happen.
fifteen. hauâs father is a valid character and takes on a specific role (faller?)
sixteen. nanu is still an active interpol member.
seventeen. there are trials for the psychic, ice, flying, fairy z crystals. (yes, a fairy trial) (also, no, not a trial for all the crystals, but some more or a switch between)
eighteen. the ship out in konikoni by lanaâs house has a use. maybe the lighthouse too
nineteen. wicke is evil. not saying faba is not evil, but wicke is no longer the concerned caregiver in the background.
twenty. theres at least a story behind the rig/building remnant in the ocean on route 14. or itâs an actual place.
twentyone. you get to enter the geothermal power plant. (i mean, they have it all mapped out, so why not??)
twentytwo. different trials. or, at least, a different approach to them. also, not different like different types, but like sophoclesâ electrium z trial being a trial instead of a trial and error session.
twentythree. so between heahea and the hano resort theres a bridge right? and the bridge has this HUGE bay mapped off behind it. im hoping we get to enter that in usum.
twentyfour. hapuâs grandfather being a valid character. he doesnât have to be kahuna, bc i think they did an excellent job w hapuâs gradual involvement in the story that led up to her appointment, but a side character would be nice.
twentyfive. lillie is a faller. the similarities w faller anabel are too high in the sumo games, both washing up on a beach after going through a wormhole. granted, itâs never noted that gladion had another sister in the sumo timeline, but in the usum line, perhaps lillie had an accident and the main lillie is a faller that everyone thinks has recovered. (plus tearjerker ending by finding out and staying in the world where her adventure took place huuuuh??)
twentysix. maybe league challenger ryuki is the bearer of the dragonium z? and hands it out in usum?
twentyseven. the prequel team to team skull that was struck down by the tapus and whose remnants became team skull, you remember that? that team is around in usum. or, that event happens in usum.
twentyeight. more involvement of molayne. we have that the guyâs a former captain, gives you the steel z crystal, and convinces plumeria to challenge the league. but a lot of thats behind the scenes, lets give the guy some more action.
twentynine. another slight unlikely, but, plumeria is an island captain/kahuna(??)
thirty. finally, nanu is still a member of team skull, or a member of a team.

Iâve been trying to compile interesting tidbit about the theoretical timeline and the multiverse thing that Zinnia dumps on everyone. Itâs kinda hard because Iâm not nerd enough to spot them myself, so theyâre not confirmed.Â
Delta Episode and the origin of two timelines:Â
What Zinnia basically spells out is that RSE and ORAS are parallel realities, the big difference being that RSEâs world didnât have AZ creating the Ultimate Weapon 3000 years ago and Mega Evolution is just not a thing. So ORAS, XY, and SuMo are in one timeline, while all the other games are seemingly in another.Â
AZ building/not building the weapon is not the nail here tho. Mega Evo world also has primal reversions and the meteorites that are the key stone and mega stones that Rayquaza uses. (Theoretically, primal reversion miiiiight have existed in non-ME world, but thereâs no record of it, so itâs unlikely.)Â
Interesting to note, the meteor from Delta Episode is a thing because of Deoxys, who was drawn to the ME world for some unstated reason. Maybe unrelated, but Zinnia phrases her story of the past somewhat oddly: âa great many meteoroids poured from the darkness of space, from a place higher even than the heavens.â Thereâs a lot of meteoroids in her story, but the ones sheâs talking about there are likely to be the same sort as the meteor Rayquaza eats to Mega Evo. They âshone with a rainbow brilliance, as if some great life was held within.â Iâm not saying that thereâs necessarily something suspicious about this, but... if one meteor could be mysteriously guided by a legendary pokemon, so can others.Â
Anyway, all this basically loops around to say that AZ might have ended up building the Ultimate Weapon due to some world-wide change that is connected to the overflowing natural energy that allowed for primal reversion or whatever brought about these mysterious energy-filled meteoroids.Â
I know that it might be possible that the âmeteoritesâ that were eaten by Rayquaza and fell on Hoenn were a result of the Ultimate Weapon, since it shoots upward into space and could have thus irradiated some space rocks like Sycamore theorizes it did to evolution stones to create the Mega Stones in Kalos. In the same way, primal reversion might have been caused by some imbalance in natural energy coming from the Ultimate Weapon. But I think this all sounds rather contrived and fishy. Primal reversion in particular is phrased as if it predates the meteorites. If âeverything comes from the ultimate weapon firingâ was the intended canon explanation, it would have been easy to change Zinniaâs dialogue to be more in line with that.Â
Fallers, Anabel and Looker across ORAS, XY, and SuMo:
The second big canon parallel reality thing is SuMo and Fallers. Fallers are people who have passed through Ultra Wormholes. I canât find the exact dialogue right now, but I believe it is ambiguous and can be interpreted to mean that Fallers actually come from another world entirely, passing between parallel realities by way of Ultra Space.Â
Not entirely unlikely, since in SuMo you can flat out go to a parallel world using Nebbyâs power at Lake of Sunne/Moone. The world is hardly different, just with the Lake/Altar names switched around and the opposite day/night cycle, but the principle is the same, since Nebbyâs powers are basically operating Ultra Wormholes.Â
Anyway, the one explicitly identified as a Faller is Anabel. She was found at Poni ten years prior to SuMo, with no memories except a few facts -- her name and that she protected a tower in Hoenn. This basically refers to her previous appearance in Emerald as Frontier Brain at Battle Tower.Â
The thing is that ORAS, which should replace Emerald in the Mega Evo timeline SuMo is part of, doesnât have a Battle Tower. It has a Battle Maison and a model of the tower that was supposed to be constructed in the future.Â
However, thereâs no specific reason to assume sheâs from the no-ME timeline, since Battle Tower might have been constructed shortly after the events of ORAS but still ten years before SuMo.Â
One interesting but tenuous detail: Anabelâs battle music in SuMo is a completely unaltered version of her Emerald theme. Iâve seen it mentioned that a remix of that theme already exists, so this might be a very subtle hint that sheâs from the original Emerald.Â
The other thing paired with Anabelâs appearance is Lookerâs cameo in ORAS. He appears as an amnesiac man found washed up at the Battle Resort. He has lost all his memories (including his name) and gives you a Mega Stone.Â
Thereâs nothing confirmed about him in ORAS, but the obvious conclusion is that heâs a Faller like Anabel. Washing up in a weird place, no memories... and of course their personal connection in SuMo invites that.Â
Buuuut you see the timeline issues, right? If SuMo Anabel is native to the Mega Evo timeline, this means she falls into an Ultra Wormhole after Looker washes up at Battle Resort (since the Battle Tower is not constructed yet). That would mean Looker would be a Faller at the fateful mission at Poni when he and Nanu lost another Faller assigned to help them and then found Anabel. Which wouldnât make sense on multiple levels.Â
So the possible explanations are:Â
ORAS Looker is not a Faller and his amnesia is from something else entirely. (Unsatisfying)
ORAS Looker is not SuMo Looker and thus not native to the Mega Evo timeline. (This creates the question of why a dude from a timeline with no Mega Evo would be holding a Mega Stone)
SuMo Anabel is from the original timeline and met Looker before the events of ORAS. So SuMo/ORAS Looker is a Faller but was not one during the mission 10 years ago. (This creates the question of how Looker regained his memories, since I donât think Anabel ever did. If she did, then it would be weird that she didnât realize sheâs a Faller, given that sheâd meet herself or just notice a ton of stuff not lining up.)
Anyway, the point is that thereâs little info and none of it really lines up.Â
Other stuff:Â
Origins seems to be âMega-verse FRLGâ with the remake character designs and general plot, but with Mr. Fuji giving Red a Mega Stone.Â
Iâm not sure what itâs in service to, but XY, ORAS, and SuMo also have an ongoing thread about O-powers. In SuMo, we find out that they came from one dude who got them from Solrock and Lantone 30 years ago. He gave them to the old guys in ORAS, who then create Mr. Bonding out of a powerless man.Â

Pokemon Sun post game thoughts
So just after completing the pokemon league I put out my thoughts on the main game and I had meant to do this a day or two later and just didnât get around to it so here it is. Do note though that I have not finished the game 100%.
Legendaries/Tapus/Ultra beasts:
- So I used my masterball on Tapu Koko purely because I finished the pokemon league at like 2 in the morning, didnât feel like battling anymore and didnât realise you could catch it later on. The others werenât too bad to catch though. I think the most time consuming for me was Tapu Lele who I ended up catching in a timer ball after like 30 ultra balls. In saying that though, I wasnât using false swipe or statuses during any of it so probably could have been a lot quicker.
- The ultra beast mission was pretty cool. It was also nice how Anabelle and Looker were brought back from past games. Though itâd be nice to know how Looker got from ORAS to Sun and Moon psychologically. Like did someone come and tell him he was a cop? Or did he remember himself? The connection with Nanu was cool though.
- Having the ultra beast mission end with finding a legendary was also an interesting touch. Like it makes more sense to me that legendaries (maybe not Cosmog due to not knowing any fighting moves) would be mixed in with other pokemon than on their own on a random rock or whatever so I liked that.
- Kinda wish I could sell my 35 remaining beast balls considering I donât have the patience to use them on regular pokemon.
- It also kinda bugs me like with most pokemon games that Sun and Moon had exclusive legendaries, ultra beasts and normal pokemon. Like yes I get it from a marketing perspective but honestly itâs more just annoying than anything.
- Kinda as an addition to the above point, I do think it would have been an awesome touch if Cosmog turned into the alternative legendary (so Lunala for Sun and Solgaleo for Moon) on the condition that you trained it in the alternative world in which you got it.
- Iâm one bloody cell away from getting Zygarde and I canât find it anywhere despite looking day and night for it so Iâm going to have to check out serebii or a video to see where it is. I just wish that it could tell me which island it is on (I think it may be Akala but not 100% sure) so I could cut it down.
Completing the pokedex:
- So as of now, Iâm at about 80% of the pokedex being filled. Most of what I have left is trade evolutions + Moon exclusives which will happen when my brother is ready, rare fishes and SOS pokemon.
- Iâm disappointed that thereâs no national dex tbh.
- For some reason it took me forever to get an Iggybuff. Like I know it was a 10% chance in either area itâs found but I was getting so many Eevees which are 5% chances in those areas. Finally got the Iggybuff today though.
- Iâve been so lucky with wondertrade. Like I donât know/care if theyâre hacked or legit pokemon all I care is itâs filled my dex right up. I was kinda reluctant to do it because I never had before and so many people told me that all you get is Yungoose and Ledyba but I think all up Iâve only gotten one Ledyba and maybe like 4 Yungoose which considering I would have done at least 50 trades all up is pretty good in my eyes.
- I feel like PokePelego has been heaps of fun and it has got me some pokemon to fill the dex but mostly itâs the same pokemon over and over (Skamory tbh) which is why I decided to wondertrade.
- I really really hate the SOS system tbh, Like I just do not have the patience for that. Honestly I think Iâve done it once and Iâm already done with it. Hopefully in future games they bring back pokenav or some other system that is better than this.
- Likewise itâs kinda annoying that in order to fish in a bubbly spot, you have to leave the area and come back. Like really itâs just a waste of time in my opinion.
- In my 15ish years of playing this series, I have still yet to see a shiny.
Pokemon league rematch:
- So long story short, my team is far too strong to do anymore of these so Iâm currently training up a new team to make it more of a challenge.
- In saying this, Iâve done it twice and Hau came both times at the end? I was under the impression you went through the list up on the serebii site, but I guess itâs randomised.
- Basically I hope if I do it again itâs not Hau that comes because it kinda gets boring facing the exact same teams and thatâs the reason I often donât do league rematches too often.
Road to Battle Tree:
- So Iâve done none of the battle tree because itâs really not my thing. Though I have done the routes up to it.
- When I got to the tree, I chose to battle Blue purely because out of the two, his was the team I remembered least. I kinda wish I had picked Red though considering his team is stronger which I didnât realise at the time.
- I do like that Mega Evolution was brought into the game, however I do wish it was brought in earlier considering really all you can use it for is the battle tree or competitive battling, neither of which I personally like doing all that much. I know what youâre gonna say âBut they wanted the focus to be on Z movesâ and I get that, I really do, but there was ways to introduce Mega Evolution into the game earlier and still kept Z crystals as the main feature. Like idk personally I probably would have changed the timing of the events and had everything from the whole Nebby and Lillie getting kidnapped onward plot as post game. Like Iâve always found it implied that Lusamine and her family came from a different region so she could have had one mega pokemon in the battle in the foundation and the stone and/or bracelet could have dropped when she went into the wormhole. That way Z moves still could have well and truly been the focus of the main game while still allowing Mega Evolution to be used in game. It also kinda makes more sense that the champion is dealing with team skull and Lusamine rather than 3 random 11(? Is Gladion also 11?) year olds with no adult help. Like I get that you go because youâre Lillieâs friends and brother but still.
Other random notes:
- So I meant to say on my in game post that I feel like the AIs are better in this game, especially the ones you battle with rather than against. Like in past games it felt like they didnât know type advantages and whatever but this game Hau especially put in the work and somewhat added a little extra challenge. I donât know, maybe I just got lucky in past games but yeah.
- The shiny Exeggcute owner was a great touch.
- I really liked the Eevee quest too. I mean yeah it was kinda sad but still nice.
- Not that Iâll probably ever wear it but being able to buy the team skull grunt top was cool.
- In saying that, clothing cost far too much. Like when a character can give you a million bucks and it still doesnât buy anywhere near a lot of the clothes, thatâs a sign. I mean Iâm out of money and doing the Pyukumuku mini quest each day basically just to buy one thing at a time (yes I know I can do the league again for money) and I havenât even touched that expensive shop yet.
- Itâs nice that theyâve added some of the characters in the post game but like I still donât understand the point of Kahili. Like I wish we knew more about why sheâs so great that Kukui asked her to do the league. Like it just seems random that they were all captains/kahunas except her and that she played no other role in this game bar that and giving you a TM. I mean I can understand if Hapu didnât want to do the league due to just becoming kahuna but still would have made more sense for Mina to be the next option rather than some random who they never really elaborate on.

Pokemon Sun & Moon Animeâs Aether Arc - Pacing
Something I wanted to put together⊠Might have to do some editing later if I remember something despite doing this while rewatching the arc, but I thought itâd be fun to see how pacing actually was.
SM044 - Start of the Arc, Introduction of Lusamine, Burnet, Wicke, Sauboh/Faba after Satoshi finds Cosmog/Nebby, the basic lore of Ultra Beasts and Guardian Deities, relationship between Lilie and Lusamine is explored.
SM045 - Introduction continues, Cosmog knows Teleport, Rocket Gang learns about Cosmog/Nebby. Battle Scene between Satoshi & Pikachu and Musashi & Mimikkyu.
SM046 - Aether Paradise Introduction, relationship between Lilie and Lusamine is explored further, hints of Type: Nullâs purpose and Faba/Sauboh having something to do with Lilieâs fear of Pokemon. Rocket Gang is shown working for Aether Foundation thanks to Sauboh hiring them.
SM047 - Type: Null is introduced to Ash/Satoshi and explained deeper to the audience. Gladio explains Lilie being afraid of Pokemon because of being attacked by an Ultra Beast, and how Silvuddy saved her. Also tells more about Gladioâs motives as well. Battle between Satoshiâs Lycanroc and Gladioâs Type: Null.
SM048 - Deeper introduction on Burnet and Kukuiâs relationship, Lilie has a verbal fight with Lusamine, we learn more about Lilieâs and Lusamineâs past relationship. Lilie goes back to the start with the fear of pokemon thanks to seeing Silvuddy and remembering something. Plot thickens.
SM049 - Sauboh takes Type: Null back from Gladio, only for Gladio to go and get it back after shouting at Lusamine and making her realise the error of her ways, who also didnât know about Lilie being attacked by an Ultra Beast. Sauboh also makes a move towards trying to erase Lilieâs memories sheâs now trying to get back with the help from Nebby and Satoshi. Rocket Gang does not approve of Sauboh and quit. Type: Null breaks itâs mask and becomes Silvuddy. Lilie remembers Silvuddy saving her from UB1: Parasite when she was little after Saubohâs Alakazam holds her up with Psychic and Silvuddy saving her again. Stops fearing pokemon, can touch them now! UB1: Parasite was summoned by Sauboh in the past. Plot thickens. Lots of battle scenes between Satoshi and Sauboh, as well as Gladio and Sauboh.
SM050 - Lilie is shown enjoying hugging all the Pokemon at School, fun activities, Sauboh plans to kidnap Nebby, Rocket Gang interfears, succeeds, Nebby escapes because of clever teleport, Sauboh succeeds. Satoshi, Gladio, Lilie and Lusamine go save Nebby. Nebby is saved, but evolves to Cosmoem. Ultra Hole is opened due to this. Lusamine gets kidnapped by UB1: Parasite when protecting Gladio and Lilie. Plot now has a conflict. Episode ends with cliffhanger. Battle scene between Satoshi, Gladio and Lusamine vs Nihilego.
SM051 - Lilie and Gladio run away from home to save Lusamine, rest of Alola Squad along with Kukui follow then after learning where to go from Hala. Episode ends with Kapus/Tapus gathering at Altar of the Sunne. Battle scene between Gladio & Lilie and Totem Kommo-o & itâs pre-evolutions.
SM052 - Kapus start their ritual with Nebby after Satoshi and others bring up the case of Lusamine being taken away by Ultra Beast. Nebby evolves to Solgaleo. Satoshiâs Z-Ring evolves to Z-Power Ring thanks Kapus. Kukui goes save Burnet from Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o. Alola Squad makes it into the Ultra Hole thanks to Satoshi doing Solganium-Z move.
SM053 - Kids make it to Ultra Space, Nihilegoâs home. Lusamine is shown being fused with Nihilego, and is acting like a toddler who doesnât want to have her toy taken away. Kids make chase, each leaving behind to deal with Lusamineâs mindcontrolled pokemon. Kaki fights Salazzle, uses Z-move. Mao, Mamane & Suiren battle Lilligant, Mismagius & Milotic. Gladio battles Absol. Lilie battles Clefable. Lilie manages to get Clefable out of mindcontrol. Satoshi heads to Lusamine. Episode ends before he makes it.
SM054 - Satoshi makes it to Lusamine, other kids defeat their battles using Z-moves, only for them to get revived. Gladio and Lilie head to Lusamine. Lusamine keeps trying to escape. Lilie has a speech with Lusamine. Lusamine starts waking up, only to be completely consumed by Nihilego. Satoshi uses 10 000 000 Volts Z-move. Motherbeast is defeated. Everyone heads home. Solgaleo appears to be gone right after Ultra Hole disappears.
SM055 - Epilogue for the Arc. Kukui and Burnet get married, Satoshi & others arrange a suprise wedding party for the two. Sauboh apologizes for his actions, Alola Squad kids are appointed as Ultra Guardians. Solgaleo disappeared not long after Lilieâs family left Altar of the Sunne, but showed up during the wedding party for a quick goodbye scene. Hints on new arc involving Poipole and possibly Ultra Recon Squad on that matter.
Post Authorâs notes:
- While Rocket Gang didnât have any important role in the plot, them knowing the Aether Paradise inside out will no doubt be useful on any possible future arc.
- Background music usage in this arc is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Best OST Iâve heard in Pokeani.
- While I had hoped for this arc to last longer than it has, Iâm quite satisfied with what we got. Pacing seems quite fine when watching the episodes back-to-back, thou it probably could have used some more episodes to have bit better pacing. Iâm not the best person to analyze this, I donât understand that much about pacing.
- Dusk Lycanrocâs anger issue will most likely be explored later on.
#aleira watches sumo#pokemon#pokeani#pokemon sumo#aether arc#long post#- do feel free to point something out if you feel something was left out! :d iâll edit the post then and then reblog with edited post.

((Insert opening: https://youtu.be/IBF9XEsnvJI ))
When the Shinkiro arrived in San Francisco, one inkling recognizes the Neo Squid Sisters and later thousands gather. A producer and security from Hollywood were prepared to escort them and their friends to a 5-star hotel where a suite was waiting for them. Â And it turns out that this producer is a friend of Felix Dahlia, the Neo Squid Sister's producer from Inkopolis. This producer introduced herself as Carolyn Bivalves, and she's here on behalf of Dahlia to put together a live concert for the fans in both the United States and Inkopolis, Japan.
The producer has already got a stage and equipment ready for their first concert in the United States. Nebula and Camille already have a video camera full of recorded videos from their voyage in the Pacific to show off to their fans. (It just needed some editing.) Sandra asked the producer if she can help out since she wants to play the guitar on stage; the producer agreed to it under some conditions, and she followed them quickly.
For now, everyone had a week to explore San Francisco. Pyrrhus, Beaker Jr, and Vix going to the lobby to try out the food. Marina and Wish were planning out their tour around the city. Camille and Nebula, were on the roof to talk with their producer.
Sandra took this time to return to the Shinkiro to do some errands: restore the guitar she found on Jade's Island, practice it in within a week, and master it with the Squid Sister songs. And thanks to a visit to a workshop the next day, she had managed to restore the old broken guitar so that she can practice and memorize the music note of the songs.
When the time came, tickets were booked. Front row passes were given to Vix, Wish, Marina, and Beaker Jr. Camille and Nebula were getting ready for their concert with Pyrrhus wishing Camille good luck. Sandra was half-confident and half-concerned of her skills in playing the guitar when she prepared.
Fort Mason, San Francisco - California, United States - 7:00PM
A former US Army post is rented out by the request of the city mayor for a concert. But it isn't just any concert; it's the concert for the Neo Squid Sister's American Tour. Everyone all over the United States did not expect the girls to come to their country to perform. Now thousands of fans in the US finally get a chance to see their favorite musical squids on the stage and sing to them. Backstage, Sandra, Camille, and Nebula were hanging out with their friends before they're escorted to front row seats.
Sandra and the Crew were all in steampunk attire to fit in with the public. The tailor had to make a few modifications: he made sure Wish's clothes were light-protected due to her hypersensitivity to sunlight; he had to make Marina's attire unflattering and instead go with long sleeves, worker's jeans and worker's boots; For Camille, she wanted her attire to match a racers -- instead, it mirrors that of a plane pilot. Overall, they wore clothing that's closer to the Victorian Era rather than the 18 the century; still, it fits with the public. Pyrrhus was the only one that remained in his usual attire for several reasons.
Sandra wore a light mint green button shirt, a bleached leather collar and gloves, a beige corset, Â a brown bustle skirt with leather belt, black inkling shorts, brown worker's boots, and her usual round violet glasses. On her head is a pair of goggles with green lens. The only piece of clothing that everyone in her party thought didn't fit her was a top hat with white pointed dog ears.
Once Beaker Jr, Vix, and the others were off, only Pyrrhus was there with Sandra and the Neo Squid Sisters. Soon there was a familiar voice.
"Camille? Nebula?" It was Emerald's voice.
Soon Emerald and Sapphire appear out of some cardboard boxes. The sharkling agent, Suzy, jumps down and lands next to Sandra. Sandra steps away, startled as if she hasn't seen a Sharkling before.
"Emerald!" Nebula addressed.
"Sapphy!" Camille addressed.
Camille, Nebula, Emerald, and Sapphire run up to each other and have a group hug.
"What are you two doing here?" It was the first time Emerald asked on they let go.
"Ask Sandy," Camille points her thumb toward Sandra.
"I kinda dragged them along to help me find my family here in America," Sandra answered, "But we have others that joined in! Beaker Jr.! Vix! Reve the tortoise! Marina and Wish! And Camille's old boyfriend--"
Camille covers Sandra's mouth. "She meant Pyrrhus! She was drinking sea water at one point during the voyage."
Sandra just gave her a look that says "really?". Emerald, Sapphire, and Suzy looked at Pyrrhus. He hesitated and sheepishly waved to them hello. Sapphire steps closer, she can see Pyrrhus's past self -- she can sense his past was a path of chaos.
"But..... we kind of are more than friends," Camille admitted, "But it's not like that, I swear!"
Sapphire stares into  Pyrrhus' eyes, then Pyrrhus closed his eyes and smiled. There was already a hostile vibe between them. Both replied with the same welcoming tone: "Nice to meet you."
Camille rolls her eyes, knowing this may lead to a rivalry over her. This is why I don't get into relationships, she thought to herself.
"Alright, Neo Squid Sisters! Sandra! Get ready!" Carolyn shouted.
"Good luck out there." Pyrrhus gives a quickly kiss on the cheek and runs off.
Sapphire see this and storms after Pyrrhus. Emerald and Suzy went after Sapphire. Camille had one hand on her cheek, the one where Pyrrhus kissed. She'll wash it once this concert is over.
Carolyn approached the Neo Squid Sisters and Sandra. She looked at Sandra and the guitar.
"You sure you know how to play?" Carolyn asked.
Sandra sighs and played the first verse of City of Colors by the Original Squid Sisters.
"Does that answer your question?" Sandra asked.
Soon, Sandra decided to stall the crowd with some music by Squid Squad, AXBY (or in this case the Chirpy Chirps), and Hightide Era. Camille and Nebula were chatting with Carolyn about the order in which the song would be played. Camille also suggested adding a cover song of their own as they were tired of singing songs by the original Squid Sisters, thinking it would be stale as the American tour continues. Once the songs were arranged, Camille signals to Sandra that they're coming out.
Sandra nods and holds for applause from the crowd. "Alright, America! Are you ready!?"
The crowd responded with cheers, demanding the Neo Squid Sisters. They were even chanting their names: Camille! Nebula!
"Live from Inkopolis! The Neo Squid Sisters!" Sandra leaves the stage and Inkopolis New Time is played.
It turns out that the Neo Squid Sisters were doing the new backstages. Camille and Nebula go through their usual broadcasting and at the end, Camille had something to say.
"Hey, Nebby, should we tell them!" Camille looked eager to reveal the "secret".
"Sure thing, Cammy." Nebula nods.
"Guess where we are!" Camille asked the fans.
Soon the screen turns off and lifts itself up to reveal the Neo Squid Sister with their back turned. The crowd screams with joy. Camille and Nebula turn to step out of the broadcasting room and onto the stage. They were waving to the crowd. Sandra returned with a few other musicians to offer their musical support.
"Let's make some noise!" Camille pumps a fist in the air.
Once the music began to play, the Neo Squid Sister began to sing the Squid Sister's Soundtrack: "Ink Me Up" and "Now or Never!", "City of Color", "Maritime Memory", "Bomb Rush Blush", and "Tide Goes Out." They also tried out their own song, "Children of the Ink", and the crowd went nuts.
The Neo Squid Sisters then tried out their cover song.
"Say, Nebby, how these repetitions are killing me! How about we show them our cover song?" Camille looked eager onstage.
"I'm with ya, Cammy!" Nebula replied.
"Let's do it!" They both cheered.
That was Sandra's queue with the band to play the song.
(( Song: https://youtu.be/GjezEjHTC-0 / Alternate: https://youtu.be/k3thHtNLCiQ ))
Their cover song wasn't from any band know to Inkopolis, but it was a human relic Sandra had kept in her phone's music player. She said it came from some fighting video game. Their song raises the rating to the roof in both Inkopolis and America.
When that was done, they ended their concert with Calamari Inkantation. But halfway through that song, there were was a commotion, then a few screams, a splat bomb and two inkstrike going off, and then the crowd dispersing.
Sandra surveyed the area and saw to pillars of rising in for in the bay; this was caused by the inkstrikes. They disappeared seconds later. The Splatbomb, however, managed to scare a group of Neo Squid Sister fans and caused a domino effect.
The concert had to end immediately; Carolyn deployed security to escort everyone to safety including Camille, Nebula, Sandra, and their friends in the front row.
Once the Security began escorting Camille, Nebula, and Sandra. Automaton appeared under stage floors and knocked the security units off the stage, they were now surrounding the three. Beaker Jr. jumped in to protect the girls, but he didn't have weapons. Â Sandra left her splattershot and ink cutlass on the Shinkiro.
Pyrrhus immediately, escorted Marina, Wish, Vix, and Reve away from the stage. Carolyn gets them to somewhere safe; she phone calls Camille and Nebula, telling them to meet her at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.
"Why get yourself into this Beaky?" Camille asked.
"I can't just let some friends get surrounded like this," Beaker replied.
"We don't even have any weapons, that's what makes this situation worse," Sandra implied.
"I can just do this!" Camille performs a Capoeira kick to swipe one of the automatons off their feets, but instead, she hurts her leg. "Owww....."
"Do every try physical combat on something made of metal Camille!" Sandra warned. "Not matter how fragile it looks!"
"You couldâve just told me earlier!" Camille argued.
"But you wouldn't listen if I told you! Who's to blame now?" Sandra folds her arms.
"Guys, no time to argue, they're closing in!" Nebula and Beaker are back-to-back.
Sandra and Camille did the same, but Sandra saw an opening to roll under the automatons and avoid capture. The two inklings quickly did so and Nebula and Beaker Jr. did that same to avoid their capture. They manage to leave the premises and escape by super jumping their way out of there, but the city was no longer safe.
In the streets, the automatons were everywhere, clad in red armor and armed with musket-shaped tasers; they all formed in battalions led by one automaton carrying an ink cutlass. In the skies of San Francisco, airships flew over the skyscrapers and buildings, watching over the city's inhabitants. The city now looked as if the mayor allowed marshal law to be imposed.
"We need to get to the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre," Nebula stated, "we don't have anything defends ourselves, so we have no choice but to sneak our way to there. We can't let these things capture us."
"Who knows what they'll do to us..." Sandra didn't want to think about it. "Why would my family live here and not tell me?"
"The real question is why capture us?" Camille commented.
Soon spotlights were all aimed at them from four different buildings, and a battalion of five automatons approached the inklings with aerial support behind them. Small drones with insect-like wings appeared behind the automatons armed with mini chargers and burst bombs.
"We're about to find out....." Beaker Jr. answered hesitantly.
Two of the automaton began closing in to grab Camille and Nebula. Suddenly two inky wrenches were thrown like boomerangs directly at the heads of the automatons, knocking them down. The spotlights were taken off Sandra and her party and ink shots were fired at the automatons surrounding them; unknown allies were on the roof, and they save them.
Sandra looked up, adjusted her glasses, and narrowed her eyes at the silhouettes on the rooftops. She can see their ink hair glowing with bioluminescence.
On one of the rooftops, there is an orange inkling, a blue inkling, and an octoling; they were all dressed in their own unique steampunk ensembles. Leading them is an indigo inkling in dark overalls, a cotton shirt, a colonial coat, worker boots, and a tricorn-like newspaper boy cap. This indigo inkling, however, had something distinct: violet square glasses and a familiar face.
Sandra recognizes him now. It was her brother.
"James!" Sandra shouted.
