Dmc 3 Vergil

Vergil:

Before I share my thoughts on him, I'm gonna preface things with this: I'll be honest, for as much as I love Dante, I feel like he suffers from "writers and directors don't know what to do with him syndrome." We've all headcanon'd Dante to be depressed after the events of DMC1 to explain why he's so cold and dry in DMC2, but once you think of DMC3 as being a soft reboot of the series, it honestly explains a lot about the previous two games.

So with that being said... DAMN they hit it out od the ballpark with Vergil and made him so PERFECT. In stark contrast to Dante, it feels like they knew EXACTLY what to make Vergil. I know it's because Nelo Angelo isn't *truly* Vergil, so you could honestly take him whatever direction, but I'm so glad they went with making him the overly stoic and serious yet horrifically traumatized and emotionally stunted antagonist we all know and love.

And speaking of... Now let's talk about Urizen

It really does suck that compared to V, nobody talks about or makes art of Urizen as much. A lot of fans seem to reduce him as "the monstrous, power-hungry demon side" but there's far more too him that nobody brings up. He's everything that Vergil thinks he wants, but is everything he wants to get away from. Sure, V is the human side that Vergil sees as inferior, but Urizen carries over much of what Vergil used to be when he was forced into becoming Nelo Angelo. He's that same cold and unfeeling demon as he was under Mundus' control, except this time, it's to escape the same fate and finally have the sense of security Vergil was desperate to find. If you have all the power in the world, nobody can hurt you anymore, right?
