#a trio with two ids and a superego

This gave me a sudden blast to the past when I spent a lot of time on TV Tropes, and I ended up taking a peak at the Power Trio page which has some interesting archetypes these three could potentially fit into:
The Freudian Trio is the first one I ended up on, from the Red Oni, Blue Oni page. The Id, or Red Oni, is the one representing emotion, passion, wildness, defiance. The Superego, or Blue Oni, is the more reserved and intellectual of the two. The Ego is the one who balances the two.
Physical, Mystical, and Technological is another, though perhaps not as suiting because Mystical does not quite describe Ros as well as Physical and Technological describes Clown and Sneeg, plus Clown has his hands in a fair share of Mysticism with the prestiged enchanting skill.
Masculine, Feminine, Androgyne Trio is the next which feels pretty self explanatory. Clown's cubito doesn't represent any specific gender like Sneeg and Ros do, making him the androgynous of the three.
Knight, Knave, and Squire is the last trio archetype that I looked at. The Knight is the idealistic fighter, I would say someone who values chivalry and fairness in battle, which is Clown. The Knave is the pragmatic and cynical one, which sounds like Sneeg with his two shot Gun attack. The Squire, of course being Ros, is the inexperienced or noncombatant member of the trio. Interestingly, it appears the Knight is more associated with the Superego than with the Id, while the Knave can be either the Id or the Superego. The actual human people behind these characters are obviously going to be more complex than the limitations of a trope can handle, so it makes sense that Clown would both care about the rules of engagement for battle as well as be driven by a passion for bloodshed.
A really fun coincidence with LOSA is that even their colors match up. Clown is red, Sneeg is blue and Ros is the purple that brings them together.
Do you see my vision? (Ignore the fact that Sneeg's current skin has no blue. His branding is entirely blue)
#mcyt#trsmp#also ros adding more red to her cubito after being taken as clown's apprentice#fitting since she's frequently a more emotionally driven person than intellectual#her eyes dulling could also be taken as her moving away from logical thought#at this point she has so many people in her ears warning her against manipulation#she really can't trust her mind at all#she's a weak point for the losas not because of an inherent weakness to her but because she is the one who keeps the balance#attacking her throws the balance out of wack#lean it to far one way or the other and you end up with something like triple threat#a trio with two ids and a superego#intellect overtaken by emotion#and we know how that ended up for them#pili's dead and pangi is so grief stricken he fully intends on destroying himself in his pursuit of revenge#and bad is doing his damnest to pretend he doesn't care#their team ended up tearing itself apart because they lacked a balancing figure and got pulled too far in one direction#this is way more messy than i usually like to make analysis meta but i'm just being silly today i suppose

If y'all's brains are as rotted by TV Tropes as mine used to be, you might have clocked the dynamic between Odysseus, Eurylochus, and Polites as an example of the Freudian Trio.
The Freudian Trio is a group of characters defined by Freud's three aspects of the mind: the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is impulsive and deals with the fulfillment of basic needs and desires. The superego is logical and deals with rules and social expectations. The ego is the conscious mind that reconciles the two. It's great as a character dynamic because it gives the protagonist two contrasting influences that they have to choose between to overcome a given obstacle. A guaranteed debate over any scenario you'd like. Basically, think of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy from Star Trek and you've got an archetypal example.
This all is excellently represented in the decision at the end of Full Speed Ahead, wherein Polites and Eurylochus present their opposite approaches to gathering supplies from the people on the shore and Odysseus arrives at a midpoint between them.
In a Freudian Trio, you'd usually expect the most passionate character to represent the id, the most measured character to represent the superego, and the protagonist to be the ego. Again, think of "emotionless" Spock and easily-riled McCoy. And in Epic, Odysseus is indeed the ego. He's the one making all of the narrative's choices and being advised by either Eurylochus or Polites (usually the latter). But the other two are the opposite of the norm I just laid out. While Eurylochus is stoic and Polites is emotional, their roles are the opposite of what that might indicate.
Think about it. The id advocates for fulfilling basic needs and safety. It's impulsive, doing what needs to be done to keep the self (or the crew) alive. And who is it who always advocates self-preservation, concerns himself with the crew's desires, and often acts impulsively or out of desperation? Eurylochus.
On the other hand, the superego is often more concerned with long-term benefit than short-term gain. It deals with keeping oneself virtuous and restrained. And who is always on the side of doing what's right rather than what's most obvious or easiest, even if it potentially puts himself or the crew at risk? Polites.
Anyway. Have fun with the analysis I guess.

ooo can you explain what you mean by kup & hot rod being the id & ego to arcees superego?
Sure, I loved the three of them! Keep in-mind this is kinda excepting Arcee's two pretty horrible introduction stories (well, this reading still works with her actual behavior and personality in them and how that could have developed, but the narrative framing which sucks doesn't necessarily. Furman's treatment of Arcee reminds me of people who claim to be "colorblind" about race and claim we should all ignore it, but then ignore all systemic inequalities that exist in reality... his work reminds me of that but specifically about womanhood). This post is also going to contain major spoilers.
In the arc Time Wars, Arcee is out scouting the Decepticons who are going to drain energy from the Earth. She's wondering where the others are and would rather not fight all the Decepticons herself, but she will if she has to. Kup lets Rodimus Prime know about what she's found out and is incensed that he isn't doing anything about it, but Rodimus doesn't want to thwart it because he knows all of space-time is falling apart. But because of Daniel and Spike, eventually Rodimus relents and sends Kup with a squad to go help her. Arcee is connected to Earth's continued safety (makes sense since she was made there) and a higher sort of morality. Ultimately it's Rodimus that has to be appealed to here since he's the Autobots' leader.

In the Aspects of Evil arc, Galvatron tries to goad Rodimus into killing him in order to turn the Matrix back to the side of evil (this is connected to plot points that occurred with it previously, the Matrix being corrupted somehow happens multiple times in this continuity). Arcee is like, can't you see what Galvatron is trying to do? While Kup is like, who cares, Rodimus should go ahead and kill that monster already!
Ultimately, Arcee gets through to Rodimus.
In issue #252, Arcee gets Kup to calm down while they're look for a saboteur, and note that she initially assumes it has to be a Decepticon who sabotaged the ship, not an Autobot:

However, when it turns out it's Rodimus himself who was trying to kill everyone, since Unicron has indeed ended up taking over the Matrix and Rodimus's body, Arcee doesn't want to stand for Kup's emotional stalling while people get destroyed around them.

Kup is so attached to Rodimus, he doesn't want to potentially kill him, but Arcee is actually correct for questioning this. Because Kup's decisions to try and save Rodimus ends up preserving Unicron's existence in the end.
I would love to see these three characters as a trio again, they lend themselves to so many interesting scenarios, and actually appealing to higher morals regardless of if it comes at personal expense and sounds overly compassionate or may even sound a little brutal is one of my favorite aspects of Arcee. She has a somewhat unique perspective on a lot of situations. When it comes to her being part of the team with Rodimus and Kup, it's also an interesting dynamic since she's a lot younger than they are, wasn't built on Cybertron, and Rodimus and Kup have such an established bond.

The Big Three & The Freudian Trio
Note: I know that Freud is a pretty much hated figure and his theories are criticized for various reasons. And I perfectly understood you guys, I partly blame him for all the "Yo Mama!" jokes when in the Myth of Oedipus dude literally gouged his eyes out after he found out that he actually fu- ANYWAY, this post is purely based on the trope inspired by one of his psychological theories and nothing else.
As you guys might have observed, there are a lot of franchises which contain at least one trio. What some of you might not notice though is that this trio is usually ment to respect the "Two Foils + Balance" unwritten rule, each character representing one of these three positions: The Id, The Ego and The Superego.
Freud defined the human psyche as consisting of three parts:
the Id, which represented emotional and instinctual desires;
the Superego, which represented the rules and social conventions;
the Ego, which reconciled the Id and Superego through conscious choices.
Likewise, the Freudian Trio consists of three characters: one who acts emotionally and instinctively, one who acts with cold, passionless logic and one who reconciles the two conflicting ideals. Sometimes the Id/Superego dynamics play out with just two characters, but in those cases the representatives of opposing sides must learn to negotiate with each other.
Now, the main reason why I decided to write this post is because when it comes the the Big Tree I observed that many people decide that Zeus is the Id because, according to them, he is "impulsive, greedy, prone to huge temper-tantrums, entirely motivated by his sex drive", Poseidon is the Ego because he "could be reasonable or nuts. But in general less impulsive than Zeus and less rigid than Hades" and Hades is the Superego (brooding, morbid, obssesed with rules and laws).
And I respectfully have to disagree with these choices, more specifically with the "Zeus = Id" and "Poseidon = Ego" one.
I understand the fact that Zeus is more prominent than Poseidon in the greek myths, and by extension people tend to believe that he is more impulsive than him whereas Poseidon is more cool-headed. But in reality, it’s quite the opposite. I know that Zeus haters don't like to hear that, but Zeus is pretty much capable of long-term planning and proves himself to be intelligent and strategic whenever he wants to. He is very cunning and the fact that he sleeps with many women isn't necessary because he is horny, but because he tries to create in the process powerful (but not powerful enough to overthrow him, of course) and honorable deities and heroes. After all, he is the Father of the Gods both metaphorically and literally. Poseidon, on the other hand, is way more short-tempered than him. He was the one who complained the most about the fact that he didn't get the sky and even joined Hera, Apollo and Athena in a failed attempt to overthrow him. Contrary to what people believe, Zeus has more beef with Poseidon than with Hades, who seemed very content with receiving the Underworld and got there right after drawing the shortest straw. Also, just because the myths where Poseidon brutally rapes someone are less common than the ones in which Zeus does it, that doesn’t mean that he is less of a rapey god than his younger brother.
The Ego is Zeus — god of law over men and hospitality, the mediator between other gods and the enforcer of laws (but not in a rigid/unrealistic manner), while the Id is Poseidon — as roiling and angry as the sea, causing trouble. It was Zeus, after all, who decreed that the gods should stop interfering in the Trojan War, and the one who swallowed the Goddess of Prudence.

Sonic Prime idea that stems largely from one key change: the dimensions are directly the fractured characters split roughly into ego, superego, and Id, and when the prisim comes back together, the characters and worlds meld back into their original unified form
More below
There are two character sets that would be changed the most from this to my liking, those being Dr Robotnik and Tails
Dr Robotnik: for starters there are exactly 3 Doctors now, Being Dr Babble, Mr Dr Eggman, and Dr Done It. Unlike in the show, they can actually work well together as long as they’re all together, and only really start having issues when one’s separated from the other two
Babble (Id) is in charge of all the ground forces and enforcement, taking pleasure in making sure everyone stays in line and obeys orders. If Dr Babble got his way, the city would be designed more like a massive carnival of destruction, with lethal rides designed to put people through as much pain as possible. Dr Babble still is unintelligible (although inexplicably understood by the other Doctors), and is prone to violent tantrums when he doesn’t get his way.
Mr Dr (Superego) is in charge of the empirical districts at the center as well as rules and quotas. He also tinkers around with mech and machine designs, trying to land on the most combat effective options both for general enforcement and for the trio to Deal with Rebellions on the streets as they pop up. If he had his way, the city would be far more streamlined and sterile, and all the people who weren’t slaving away in factories and power plants replaced with machines (and even the ones producing if he was being honest). Eggman takes rebellions the most seriously and considers any opposition to be quelled as soon as possible, getting more and more annoyed the longer it evades him.
Dr Done It (Ego) is in charge of City Planning, Security, and mediating. In his old age he ends up finding a solution that stops the consistent conflicts between Babble and Mr Dr regarding aesthetic, function, and priorities with the city, finding methods that satisfy everyone (except the civilians). Despite not being active in production or enforcement, without him there would be no city
Tails: just like in Prime, Nine ends up being the ultimate villain, as while he has different motivations from the OG, they are just as sinister if not arguably worse.
Mangey (Id) is the version in the boscage maze, and can in fact speak, even if he doesn’t usually do so. He is most representive of tails’ desperate desire to be useful to people, to the point where he ends up not expressing his own wants. Before sonic arrived, he followed Prim’s rule so consistently and quietly that the other residents assumed that he simply had the exact same beliefs as Prim. Once Sonic arrived however, he started doing whatever sonic wanted, to a point where even sonic was weirded out by it.
Sails (Ego) is the version in No Place, and uses a rocket launcher made of bamboo as well as an electrified sword. He is Tails' firm sense of morality and even if he doesn't like the decision will listen to Dread as he's in a position over him. Sails is also the most directly courageous of the three
Nine (Superego) is in New Yoke, and is Tails' strong will, and hyperintellect. Nine's desire pre show is to create his own stronghold beneath the city where he is in complete control, taking resources slowly to build fortifications and an arsenal. Without either a desire to help anyone but himself or intent to make things fair for others, he ends up as once again the most morally grey of the three.
After learning of the nature of the prismatic worlds, and killing Mr Dr Eggman and his main goal (putting him against sonic and crew in the final) is to kill his counterparts from the other worlds so that when the world reforms he is the only part of Tails left and he can do as he pleases.

U still doing rbb headcanons? If you are, can you do some updated host headcanons (bc they are prob outdated since s3) or just terabrite headcanons please 🙏 🥺(I need more rbb content istg ) ( I am not mentally well /j)
Hello yes I do in fact have RBB headcanons for you :3
I'm going to have to put this under a read more as it's a lot (and it's mainly ramblings about powerset headcanons bc I have THOUGHTS on that) so strap in.
Hosts in general:
The hosts, who were originally human, basically got ‘blessed’ / ‘cursed’ (depending on how you see it) by their respective concepts and now both represent / are possessed by / basically are those concepts. They each have differing opinions on what happened but one thing’s for sure - they’re now wielders of Agility, Healing and Truth respectively
Each of the hosts have 3 different types of powers, with a different spread for each, and these powers often correspond to the powers of their weapons:
Powers that act on themselves
Powers that act on others
Area of effect powers
Some of these powers are passive (unconscious, happens all of / most of the time) but most are active (requires conscious activation)
They can use their powers without their respective objects, but it is a lot more effective if they do use em
They get funky particle effects when they use their power (as well as their hair and eyes glowing, especially with overusage - they've still got human bodies, so they do have their limits!)
If the sword gets cracked they get physical ‘cracks’ on their skin (same with the instruments, probably?)
Though really the instruments only got powered up as a response to their gaining powers, as opposed to the swords giving them the powers
They can fuse their swords giving one of them combo abilities/moves while the other temporarily loses their abilities
I haven’t really thought of these combo moves yet, but I think DJ and Russo would give some level of super-intelligence, DJ and Sabrina could do rapid healing and perhaps even evolution / power boosts?
They tend to avoid doing this as it’s very disorientating for the host that loses their powers and exhausting for the host that gains one and let the Battler wield/fuse the decoy swords (see my old headcanons for an explanation on that) instead. It only happens if one of the hosts is compromised and it’s an emergency.
Yes they did make the megasword yes it went poorly for all involved (they can wield concepts, but their bodies can barely wield one, let alone 3…)
They’ve got a ‘Power Trio’ dynamic, following the expected roles (with some subversions)
DJ acts as one extreme: he’s the Superego / the Blue Oni / the pessimistic one
Sabrina acts as the middle ground: she’s the Ego / the Purple Oni / the reasonable one
Russo acts as the other extreme: he’s the Id / the Red Oni. / the optimistic one
Atypically however, DJ despite being the Blue Oni is more suited for combat whereas Russo as the Red Oni is more suited for intelligence
This sliding scale of intensity comes up a lot for them, with Sabrina almost always being in the middle with DJ and Russo being two extremes
S3 Specific:
This one differs depending on people so I’ll say it anyway: Russo and the clone in S3 (Recoded) are different people, Russo took the clone’s place at the end of the FB
Sneaky self promo, that was all explored in the GOSSIP animatic
Originally JP wanted to kidnap and replace Sabrina for Maximum Angst Power (bc DJ would’ve probably lost it if his wife went missing or started acting odd) but their clone of Sabrina (the Great Woman) failed and went berserk, so since Recoded worked they kidnapped Russo instead
They’re actually quite lucky they kidnapped Russo over Sabrina, because if Russo was in a similar situation to DJ and Sabrina during S3, he would’ve just walked right up to ‘Sabrina’ before ‘she’ could ‘go missing’ and proceed to use his powers on ‘her’
This actually happened in the Swap AU with DJ in Russo’s place
DJ Monopoli:
Passively has super-speed, super strength and super endurance (sword), actively can hover just a tiny bit off the ground (dynamic dashers)
He can also absorb / give energy out to others, either making them tired or giving them a boost in energy
He doesn’t have an area of effect power,,,but we’ll see if/what S4 gives him (I’ve seen people suggest portals so?? Maybe those??)
His powers tend to take the form of green electricity, which he can use to his advantage
This isn’t set in stone yet, but I’ve been toying with the idea of DJ having robotic legs, because constantly moving at superhuman speeds while still having human legs is kind of rough on said legs
(Don’t worry, he’s not the only member of the RBB cast who has replaced their legs.)
The easiest to get angry out of the hosts
Isn’t as good at getting his point across than the other two, so is willing to over explain things so people get what he means
The Fighter, and will usually be the one to attack any threats and do the physical combat, as well as acting as security if there are no current eminent threats.
This is how he ended up forced to dance by Albert when Albert broke into the studio during S2 - he was the first wall Albert had to break through, and Albert used most of his power on him
If he’s not with the other two doing Host Things, he’s probably in the music studio doing…music things
Also the most fashionable of the hosts, surprisingly enough. His wardrobe is filled with suits and he has little to no casual clothing.
Sabrina:
Passively heals herself over time and can actively heal others wounds (from the sword)
Can also actively reverse said healing by opening old wounds (or just straight up attacking them, but that’s booooring. this is from the cyber shredder), or can use her powers to act as a painkiller / soothing mechanism
She can make a ‘healing dome’ where everyone in the area heals just a little bit quicker / is soothed
Her powers tend to take the form of purple plus-shaped particles
The Mage, the healer and planner of the group, but she would much rather be out there fighting monsters and doing the tough stuff
She’s still a really good fighter because of the fact that you can’t easily make a dent on her, she’ll just heal herself up
She’ll drop everything to make sure someone is safe and uninjured, but she’ll be mad about it! And will endlessly lecture the injured party because “STOP TRYING TO ATTACK THE ROBOTS WITHOUT ANY WEAPONS”
Strangely enough, is the scariest out of the hosts. No one knows how she pulls this off, but she just does
(It’s probably because her powers relate to people’s general wellbeing…whether that’s good or bad.)
The most paranoid, and the quickest to panic over something going wrong. She does her best to stay positive in the face of change, but she shows her weaknesses now and then
If you look at her you’d think she listens to lofi and pop. Nope, heavy metal
Somehow still doesn’t know the Great Woman exists
Russo:
Passively has Truth Detection (different to lie detection - he can’t tell if you’re lying without actively using his powers on you, but he can always tell if you’re telling the truth), and can understand all languages
Battle Life SMP readers - that last one will be relevant soon!
Actively has Lie Detection, limited mind reading and mind control - said control is more effective over robots (hence, Robotic Resonators), but he can do it on people. It takes a lot out of him if he does though, even if he is using his Resonators
Area of effect power being able to reveal/see anything hidden in a room (sword)
His powers take the form of blue ‘dot’ particles as well as anyone under his power’s effect eyes turning blue
The Thief, the one who works in intelligence. He can’t stand for himself on a battle field, he’s extremely physically weak - but he’s very good with people, and even better at interrogating them / getting information he needs out of people
Simultaneously a mom friend and the stupid one
Theatre kid
Can accidentally be a little bit too positive, and is (ironically) prone to ignoring the darkness of a situation at times
If he does realise a situation is dire though, he will get serious fast.
You don’t want to see Russo when he’s angry.
A little self conscious, but he’s better at dealing with it than some people (cough cough Kreek cough cough)
Has referred to the RBB participants as his kids. No one will ever let him live it down (and it’s not like Russo wants them to, they are his kids thanks very much)
He’s quite self conscious about the whole ‘getting kidnapped during S3’ thing. He blames himself for it and is overly apologetic about it, despite none of it being his fault
Enjoy :3

Let's (re)Read The Dragon Reborn! Chapter 26: Behind a Lock
I'm done doing anything but warning people who haven't read the whole Wheel of Time series not to keep reading.
This chapter has the Black Ajah icon because the gals are investigating their dirty deeds.
There were many more empty rooms than occupied in the Accepted’s galleries.
Another reminder of the Tower's slow decay. It's rather funny that it is a parallel of the land at large in its own way, since it's the diametric opposite of Rand.
“She was no Gray Man. She was tall and striking, with black eyes and black hair. You’d notice her in a crowd of a thousand. I have never seen her before, but I think she is Aes Sedai. She must be.”
Lanfear probably made her various weaves a little stronger than she intended to have Egwene this fixated on her still.
The library stood a little apart from the tall, thick shaft of the White Tower proper, its pale stone heavily streaked with blue, and it looked much like crashing waves frozen at their climax.
I wonder why the Ogier who built Tar Valon wanted to associate the library with blue waves. A warning of the forces that might someday wash what little knowledge the Tower preserved away if it failed in its mission?
Around the foundations of the library, lying flat to the ground in the shade of tall pecan trees, were other doors, both large and small.
At first I thought pecan trees being this far north was a little incongruous and wasteful of the Aes Sedai, but research tells me that they naturally grow almost as far north as Wisconsin, so I will allow it. I will note that they're an American plant though. Perhaps the Breaking was more thorough than any of us give it credit for, or perhaps at some point in the future they'll be moved across the sea... Either way, the Wheel's turns are broad indeed.
Elayne made a glowing sphere for herself at the same time, and the pair provided more light than two lanterns would have. “It feels so—wonderful, doesn’t it?” she murmured.
It's a miracle none of these girls went the route of the heroin addict.
She felt a lightning bolt form, or the potential for one, and nearly stumbled. She had never before channeled two flows at once; it did not seem difficult at all.
I'm legit surprised it didn't come up in damane training. Or perhaps the sul'dam can't handle that kind of thing? Something to keep an eye on.
I could open the lock myself, if I could see how the inside of it works. We will open it some way.
Elayne's the closest thing this trio has to a superego (sadly for third age humankind, prolonged exposure to chora trees causes the genes for emotional regulation to mutate so absolutely no one in the 1,000+ character cast is capable of being a straight example of a superego because those genes haven't mutated back yet), so naturally her approach to solving the puzzle is to solve it on its own terms: if she understood the lock, she could unlock it.
Letting the rest of the tirade fade from her awareness, Egwene touched the chain. She had learned more things than how to make lightning bolts since leaving Tar Valon. One was an affinity for metal.
Egwene, as eventual leader, is the team ego, so she thinks outside the box a little more but still accepts the challenge as presented: it is both lock and chain that keep her out so the clever solution is to attack the chain that most people would ignore.
Thrusting the end of the prybar through the chain, Nynaeve braced it, then heaved with all her strength. The chain snapped like thread, Nynaeve gasped and stumbled halfway across the hall in surprise, and the prybar clattered to the floor.
Nynaeve is the team id and that's all there is to say on the matter because I'm afraid she'll start hitting me if I add any more.
Elayne frowned at her as if considering, then hung her light on the wall, too. Watching, Egwene thought she saw what it was she had done.
And of course the thing that makes this trio so dangerous on net is that they're capable of bootstrapping off of each other to a degree that I don't think any current third age Aes Sedai group can emulate.
“Tear,” Nynaeve said in a flat voice. Kneeling amid the clutter from the bag she was searching, she retrieved a scrap of paper she had already thrown away.
A collection of clues so blatant you'd almost wonder how Siuan missed them if it wasn't obvious that these clues didn't exist about twenty minutes ago.
“The Amyrlin,” Nynaeve said bitterly, “keeps her own counsel, and what matter if we burn for it!”
Oh look, it's Team Light's complete refusal to engage in anything other than complete paranoia about each other coming to bite it in the ass again.
“Unless they do not care whether whoever found this saw the trap or not.” Uncertainty tinged Elayne’s voice. “Or perhaps they meant it to be so obvious that whoever found it would dismiss Tear immediately.”
Or Lanfear is so high on her own supply that she forgets other people aren't drooling idiots. Actually I'll be slightly charitable to her. Four months ago she spent a few days with Rand while he was being a drooling idiot so maybe she's using his barely-resisting-her-Compulsion self as a barometer for the general intelligence of the Age.
Egwene squeezed the ring hard. Dreaming was closely linked to Foretelling; the future, and events in other places, could appear in a Dreamer’s dreams. “Maybe we will know after tonight.”
Occasionally when responding to bad films, critics quip that the characters are only doing the strange things they choose to do because they've read the script and have no other choice. Jordan manages to wrap this around to the point where his characters are outright planning on consulting the script to decide what to do next and it's glorious.
Next time: Egwene checks the script!

What we are, exactly, is usually catagorized as a “Freudian Trio”. While I resent most of his basis in psychology, I admit that I grew intrigued by Sigmund Freud’s idea of what makes a person. Id, Ego, and Superego. The emotion, the temperament, and the logic.
Atlas, Orian, Me. I wonder about the implications.
How does a trio like that work is also in question. Traditionally, in all scenarios, there must be some kind of pair. A third is a middleground, a balance of two extremes. Sometimes it’s fun, in the way that zodiac signs and Myres-Briggs personality types are fun. In some ways, simple categorization is what can help you learn more about yourself, or at the very least, assure a part of yourself that you desperately hope to be true.
Sometimes though… sometimes it hurts. In a way that a makes you feel like you know less than you did before. When the sun is too bright and a star is too distant and the moon pulls tides to drown you. When a category feels more like a sentencing to a crime you have yet to commit. The same way as a stereotype, an assumption rather than something you yourself proclaim. I start to make proclamations before you have the chance to make an assumption.
Here is the synopsis:
My personality type is INTJ, though some friends claim otherwise (“You’re too nice, it doesn’t quite fit,” they would say. I try not to disagree). My zodiac is Scorpio, the scorpion (“I wouldn’t have expected that!” A date would exclaim. I don’t go on a lot of those anymore). I’m a Ravenclaw, if Harry Potter could still be considered relevant. I have a 128 IQ, unofficially tested. I am a water elemental. My favorite color is green, though I am told I am more represented by purple.
Unfortunately, that might be all.
Beyond these, I don’t think I know who I am.
I’ve had my fair share of philosophical crisises. I at least know that the things that are happening around me are real. I know that I am the only one in control. On a good day, I at least know that I am real.
I don’t get many good days anymore. This might be in part due to my excessive pondering over categorization. The more I grow, the more difficult it gets to put myself in place. Up to this point, the only thing I was completely sure of is the people I surround myself with. Two very specific people in fact. Sorting them is easy as breathing, sometimes. Of course, I mean Orian (Virgo, labrador, stars, griffendor, pathos, Ego). Of course, I mean Atlas (Scorpio, orange tabby, sun, hufflepuff, ethos, Id). It’s easy, and it’s just as easy to fill in the gaps. J (Scorpio, black shorthair, moon, ravenclaw, logos, Superego, everything that they are not). Those two refer to the three of us as soulmates, whatever that may mean, if it means anything at all. There are so many cases where this amount of joint links, this many compatible categories, so much connection, would be the cause of romance. You see interwoven webs so complicated that your mind has to make up the rest. It mixes the reds and the purples and the greens. It writes poetry likening people to celstial figures. It sings and dances and sometimes the art and music escape into reality just barely, not enough to be more than a trick of the light.
Sometimes, whether I like it or not, my mind does the same.
But for your sake, I genuinely hope you are reading for the study of it. I hope you are specifically here, tonight or today, for nuance and the exploration of my mind, instead of theirs.
I hope that I don’t need to lower your expectations.
Because… despite first impressions, despite your assumptions, this will not be a love story.

With gratitude,
J. Greene

HEART BIOLOGY LET'S GO
Definitely gonna be a long post so hang tight
Ok so
Heart is apart of a fictional species I made called "ids".
You will never guess where I got that bright idea (disappointing fun fact about me I've actually only listened to like five CJ songs and everything else I know from looking at the lyrics or my lover)
Ids are typically bipedal, hermaphrodite sapient organisms that have a "host" which they parallel. Ids reflect various brain-related theories/concepts, such as id, ego, and superego, right and wrong, conflict and resolution, and of course, left brain-right brain. They usually come in pairs of two, but on rare occasions can come in a trio.
Ids have odd life cycles; they're born from a variety of causes, but are only an extremely slim chance to develop. They are potentially parasitic and rely on their "host" for development, almost in a parent-child, teacher-student type way (note: ids are NOT related to their host, but this does not mean I encourage shipping.).
Ids are psychologically akin to a five year old once they first "spawn". Ids know every language from within the bounds they spawned in, essentially meaning Heart and Mind understand every single human language and language from the Dream Realm (note: the Dream Realm is wholly irrelevant to the story, but feel free to stick around if you wanna hear about it from other stories), but cannot speak them as they do not have the muscle memory to communicate them verbally, nor can they write them as they do not understand what the words look like physically.
Newborn ids never resemble the baby version of whatever creature they are paralleling; in-fact, the infant form of an id is at minimum five year olds. Typically, newborn ids take the form of their host's age, albeit with, again, the minds of an older toddler.
Once they reach roughly a year of age, they will be able to verbally communicate in the language they were spoken to in, with an eerie amount of fluency in spite of their previous silence. At this point, they are of basic biological maturity, much like a fourteen to sixteen year old, but are in no way fully mature.
Once they reach three, they have reached what is considered adulthood for an id, but I don't wanna hear any one of you proshippers saying that they can be shipped with an adult/sexualised as they are most likely still in the form of a minor. While their emotional capacity, mental development, and learning capabilities are all fully developed, their knowledge, experience, personality maturity, and possibly even appearance will still be juvenile.
Ids can be very diverse physically, but their appearance is almost identical to their Host, albeit with usually supernatural elements.
Consistent qualities with ids include nails that grow sharper when stressed or induced with adrenaline (a lot like a stick's fingers and teeth, see: Linumvris sapien), a levitating accessory above one's head, and organ systems as follows:
•Basic external systems, such as nervous system, integumentary system, etc.
•A strong skeletal and muscular system; albeit, it is not pronounced and often hard to tell. Due to its higher development, ids are crazy strong, and could overpower a human with little to no difficulty.
•A digestive and respiratory track that leads straight to the circulatory system. Nutrients are immediately absorbed by the blood, and their blood acts as a sort of "life force" for the id, being the second most important component of their body (the most being wherever their consciousness is stored). Old blood that was worn itself and its nutrients dry, acting as waste, is removed by slicing open a non-vital part of the body, such as the back of an arm or the front of the thigh, and allowing it to bleed.
•Their consciousness is stored in the organ connected to their nervous system.
Oh, and they also have super complex body language that I will spare you the details of (for now).
Ids are born with the "idstinct" to become whole, which is not a requirement for their survival but rather a bizarre function implanted into their psychology. All ids possess the desire to become whole, regardless of their upbringing. There is such thing as "whole-cuddling", in which when an id cuddles with another creature (almost always another id) in a specific way, it causes their minds to "blend" and for them to share thoughts, thinking intensely about being whole. Supposedly, this is quite relaxing, almost like deep meditation, but I have never experienced it myself so I couldn't tell you. /j
Ids also are prone to creating a variety of bizarre, alien noises; the most notable and alien of the such being "fellkinking" or "fellkinging", which is also known as the "iderest" sound as it is a vocalisation produced when an id is interested in something, be it a thought or stimuli. They may also, albeit extremely briefly, produce this sound when startled.
In-case you're wondering what this sounds like, thankfully your old pal AXYER has basic audio editing skills.
Oh, also, it's possible to become an id.
Anyway.
Onto Heart's actual biology, sorry I get carried away by my own good ideas sometimes.
Now onto what I actually advertised!
Heart, when we're talking basic information, is about 167 CM (5'6") and somewhat underweight (he's built like a TikTok femboy in the AU), with black, kind of dark purple hair, lavender skin, plain black eyes (formerly), and no body hair (id thing).
Heart has violet teeth as well as very saturated, dark purple blood, and black nails.
For the most supernatural qualities (if being purple and black-eyed wasn't supernatural enough), Heart has orchid-coloured pheasant wings, dark purple hologram rings around his wrists, torso, neck, and ankles, a small portion of feathers collecting around his upper chest (NOT a mane), hooves instead of feet, a biological gun, a dark purple halo, and, while not technically a biological component, is capable of summoning violet fire, which I will get into. B)
Heart suffers from low blood pressure, as well as frequent chest pain. To add a little psychology into the mix, Heart suffers from complex post-traumatic stress disorder (at the hands of Soul), which for those who don't know much about psychology think of a blend of nightmares, flashbacks (emotional and visual), dissociation, mood swings, fear of abandonment, hypervigilance, and trust issues, as well as schizoaffective disorder (bipolar subtype) (may change).
Heart's eyes are absent, formerly having been a plain black in colour and with ordinary eyesight, due to… well, you're in the Chonny Jash fandom, you can probably figure it out. Heart's neck is also coated in bruises and has bluish-marks akin to grasping fingers, along with tiny violet spots around his cheeks, and ears with purplish stains. This is typically obscured by his hoodie collar, and his throat is perpetually tight (see: next paragraph). Due to the traumatic nature of these injuries, they are almost permanent and could be mended with the right mental health treatment, but in Heart's not-so-good living situation this is unlikely. Ids can typically heal from any wound given enough time, no matter how drastic (lest it be fatal), but wounds with horrific memories tied to them are built into their homeostasis.
Uniquely, Heart doesn't quite feel pain, due to his underdeveloped pain receptors. Rather than feeling pain, he feels tightness, to varying extents depending on the degree of "pain" he should be feeling. There are two exceptions to this; the occasional chest pain he suffers from, and if he were to be shot by his Gun, tased by Mind, or stabbed by Soul's Trident.
Heart's wings are soft in texture and physically quite similar to the wings of a pheasant, albeit a more pinkish-purple colour. They are useless in terms of actually lifting himself from the ground, but fortunately their mere existence permits him to levitate and hover, as well as float in a way akin to flight. His wings are there to steer only, and flap to accelerate his flight, but if they are removed then he loses this ability. Feathers that form a kind of down-like portion envelop his sternum, which is a noticeably developed muscle of his.
Dark purple rings that are composed of a vaguely organic, even more vaguely than an id's composition already is, substance surround certain parts of his body; one around his torso, two around each wrist, two around each ankle, and one around his neck. These are semi-physical and if you were to slowly grab onto one, your hand would phase through it, but if you were to quickly grab it you could hold onto it and pull Heart by it. His halo is similar and seemingly serves no other function than to be his signature accessory above his head.
Heart has hooves that act similarly to plantigrade feet, and fully touch the ground, rather than standard nature of unguligrade feet. His hooves are pointed and can inflict decent damage if kicked into something (or someone), and are solid enough to not be easily harmed. Heart doesn't feel much sensation in his hooves.
Probably to be expected, Heart is able to summon a pistol, in which he can remove his canines to act as (and turn into) bullets (forgot to mention, he has VERY sharp canines, that grow in super quick!). Surprisingly, there is not much biologically remarkable about this weapon, however biological weapons are a key quality of ids, and all have one.
The next one is less so relevant to the AU but still pretty interesting stuff, and the one after that is exclusive to my crossover AU:
Heart is capable of summoning violet fire with he can shape at will and manipulate thoroughly to his desire. Rather than burning someone and causing a bunch of tiny contractions, the fire causes muscles it touches to rapidly contract. This can be as simple as a finger tightly bending in-place, or as extreme as someone curling so tightly into a ball that they damage their spine.
(Exclusive to crossover AU ;)) Notably, Heart is able to pull fire out of his palm, in which it appears instead as a small, narrow candle with a lavender flame. He's able to use this candle as a way to spy on others, being able to hear immensely well out of it, smell out of it, feel its surroundings (while spying out of it), see its surroundings (before he went blind; while blind, his vision is heavily obscured and unreliable while using it), and speak out of the candle. The candle's flame flickers and churns to express emotion from Heart, and one can tell he's utilising it once it changes from a lavender flame to a violet (I have said the word violet so much omg). It can only be extinguished through pinching the flame with one's thumb and another finger, as other methods will simply not work and using your entire hand will only burn you as your hand contracts around the family. If one ignites the candle, it will become usable again. Also, if one douses the candle in lighter fluid, it will force Heart to remain inside of the candle until it is either extinguished or damaged beyond repair.
And that's it! Thanks for sitting through my long ramble lol. :)
I REALLY like turning human or human-like characters into fully distinct and unique creatures, so prepare to hear more of this from me. Hope you enjoyed! :)

Shit I got really caught up in the idea of KSBD as absurdism and nihilism that I didn’t really consider this reading as well
White Chain’s seemed to be a transformation from a creature entirely of superego into someone balanced in ego and her body following suit
Which makes me wonder: if the Ivory Devil is completely id at the moment, will she have an evolution into something a little more balanced? A final form of sorts?
Another interesting angle is that Kingship in many ways appears to be a perfect balance of id and superego. A king is someone completely in control of themselves and their desires. —Note that there is a distinct difference here from being controlled by id, where someone controlled by id acts because their desires says to do this or that, a king chooses their desires then acts on them.
Allison has not achieved kingship yet. Nukoku points out she is afraid, and in response Allison rejects that. What’s important here is not that she is afraid, but that she’s rejecting it. She’s not allowing her base instincts to have a say, at this moment one could say she’s more a creature of superego. She’s acting logically and emotionlessly, without as consideration for emotion- or at least considering it a lesser component of decision making
But earlier when she was with White Chain, she acted a little more on the id end of thing, helping white chain achieve a little hedonism. To me, this says two things:
Firstly, Allison isn’t quite there yet, she’s got more growth to go through
Secondly, they work best as a trio, and I think they’ll probably be in balance of themselves when they’ve reunited
Now if I were some sort of nerd I would start drawing parallels to Jungian Psychology and how this ties to the concepts of shadow and persona
How the Devils being depicted as a raw chaotic forces of selfish impulses and instinct that have to hide behind masks in order to exist in society
Works quite well with the idea of the conscious vs the subconscious
And how Nukoku's lack of mask makes her the manifestation of Cio's subconscious emotions and selfish desires. Basically an unfiltered version of all the best and worst parts of our short queen
But you know... only if I was a nerd... which I'm not, so I definitely wouldn't draw that comparison

Alright, because this wouldn't leave my head here we go:
Young Justice as a band, Core 6 edition.
Red Tornado is their manager, obviously.
Initially, it was a trio act of Kon, Bart, and Tim. This lasted for their debut single Id, Ego, and Superego, as well as the EP Young, Just Us. Greta was a session player who got tapped in to help back a track for the full album, and recommended her previous collaborators Cissie and Cassie to the group. Some internal shakeups followed, but by the release of the full Young, Just Us album the band had settled down.
Kon: Drums, and the occasional backing vocal.
Bart: Man, what doesn't Bart play. He started on keyboard, then promptly went full crazy. In the EP alone, he has listed credits for piccolo, sousaphone, and harpsichord, among others.
Tim: originally lead guitar/vocals, later rhythm guitar and male vocals. Because he cannot be normal, his guitar isn't either. Usually an 8-string, but he he's broken out a Chapman Stick on more than one occasion.
Cassie: Lead guitar and lead female vocals. Also helps with songwriting.
Greta: bass guitar. Likes music, likes playing with friends, jsut as happy to fade into the background.
Cissie: keyboard, backing female vocals. Bonnie wanted her to be a solo artist, but "white girl singing with a piano" isn't exactly an unpopular niche. Bonnie's new long-term plan is for Cissie to be the breakout sensation and leave Young Justice behind. So far, Cissie isn't on board.
Tim and Cassie have a somewhat complex co-front dynamic. Tim is the primary songwriter, is go-to for guitar solos, and is the primary male vocalist. Cassie plays lead guitar and sings lead on most songs. Cissie has a song or two on each album that she takes the lead for, and that's all she really wants right now.

I always like to view Xion almost as Sora's Heartless, if that makes sense? I think it's an interesting comparison (plus Xehanort parallels).
That aside, you make a good point about Xion and the destiny trio, it's something I haven't really heard before so, good food!
And, yeah, that's Xigbar's whole deal, it gets better with every entry.
Interesting comparison, I can definitely see it! While Roxas largely and initially acts as a creature of contemplation and consolidation, Xion acts in a way with solid drive and often destructive ceaselessness, very much like a Heartless.
How I've interpreted and understood the difference in Heartless and Nobodies in terms of how they relate to the self is in relation to Freudian theory:
Heartless = Id (Base instinct, pure feeling)
Nobody = Superego (Social standards, demonstration of expectations and order)
Therefore leaving the "full" or "completed" person to demonstrate the compromise between the two as an Ego with a stable heart, one that feels the weight of emotions and a socially-driven self conscience.

I got you covered! OC/Writing Art Asks, for.... hm... whichever OC has the longest name
pencil, pen, colored pencil, pastels, eraser, and palette
Thank you for sending this in! Based on how I treat her name, Kanta Syrah is the lovely OC with the longest name! For brevity, I’ll be referring to her as Kanta. Just a quick warning, this may be rather long!
Pencil: Kanta has one “sketchy” habit that she utilizes on a near daily basis. She implants thoughts into her victim’s mind, prompting them to purchase and consume more goods than they want. It tends to be hard to notice unless the person has a good understanding of their inner monologue. In terms of breaking the law, it is a grey area. Kanta uses her mind infiltration to sell baked goods. If it’s not the coercion that breaks the law, it’s the substance in those baked goods. Does she regret any of this? Nope! Not at all! It’s extra income and fun for her!
Pen: Kanta regrets investing in plastic cooking utensils when she first began baking. It’s a small, harmless mistake, but the melted remains of her first spatula plague the bottom of her oven.
Colored Pencil: She would definitely get the more expensive products for the quality. Kanta takes pride in appearing her absolute best to feed her facade. Especially when it comes to self care and hygiene products. Gotta look as presentable and charming as possible!
Pastels: The three colors I believe best represent her are bright yellow, burgundy, and a pale pink. The colors Kanta likes best are pumpkin orange, white, and basically any pastel color you can think of. She likes pastels and softer colors since they remind her of the icing used on cakes.
Eraser: Throwing her into different scenarios has changed her core personality a lot. Kanta was originally just an adorable sweet kiddo, using her natural charm to get people to eat more. She had no other side or malice like she does now. Kanta has definitely come into her own as an Id inspired character in the id ego superego trio. She’s impulsive, headstrong, conniving, and brutally honest under all that cute and innocent behavior she conjures. She’s my unhinged lil gremlin!
Palette: I would say Kanta’s primary skills are mental manipulation, negotiation, acting, and adaptability. All four of these skills blend and overlap easily. For instance, her ability to adapt and act. She’s always putting on a show, whether anyone realizes it or not. If her acting is not getting what she wants, she adjusts accordingly. If she’s working with someone who’s rather timid and anxious, Kanta will cut out the more hyper and excitable parts of her facade. The effects of cutting or replacing different aspects doesn’t destroy or damage her facade since she’s used to doing it. With mental manipulation and negotiation, these two go together extremely well. Kanta has great negotiation skills and doesn’t need to manipulate or invade the other party’s thoughts. However, she does this to ensure everyone gets what they want. Instead of planting thoughts that could benefit her, she tries to figure out what the other person wants and coaxes it out of them.

more of a rambling than an actual addition to a discussion
yoton yo the song is in its entirety about scratch; but it has a weird line: "The cap of the booze bottle has gone missing". with zane specifically repeating the "ahh let me fix you a drink" both in aw2 AND in control awe cutscene. plus the flashback inside his first cutscene had "a happy song" which played in american nightmare only in the third tv cutscene with scratch dancing. what if alan "remembered" the flashback from scratch' perspective? because these two films with zane were actually directed by him
overall i really think there's really something between zane and scratch. his cutscene in control awe was also sketchy as fuck, teleporting and having weird effects on his side of the shot.
side note: was thinking about yoton yo the movie and it being loosely but seriously tied to the plot of the game (last words of the film/game; one twin being (indirectly) responsible for the death of the other). i wonder: if something got out of the well in the movie, could something get out in the game? probably just an allegory to scratch 😪 but what if it's something more. ohh i hate him i love him and im fully invested
p.s. jskxnalnsxkmd scratch might not be dead once again; he supposedly died in american nightmare and now, but the yoton yo sings that "you can never escape him" bc it's literally your fucking reflection. ugh i really sense the superego-ego-id trio from (all the people alan keeps dragging down to save him xdd)-alan-scratch
I need to talk about my theories on Alan Wake 2’s timeline somewhere so here it is, spoilers obviously, and I REALLY would love someone for discussion. Here we go(warning: it’s freaking long):
One thing to be noted: a lot of my theory is based on what was revealed in The Signal and The Writer, so make sure you know what happened there first then read my theory.
My theory with the loop: it has been expanded many times. It started with Alan trying to write Return to escape, but kept failing. So he slowly lost his mind, splitting into two personas like what happened in the DLCs again. This is what I call “the basic loop.” I want to note that my theory is that in the game, we only get to experience the part AFTER crazy Alan wrote Return, possessed by Dark Presence, restarted a new loop already and return to his “optimistic” self.
Alan writes Return->caught by the Dark Presence-> wakes up in the writer’s room.
Then Mr. Door and Alice came in. For now my theory is Mr. Door came in first, brought the Talk Show section. Alan can now project him into the NYC through Talk Show.
Alan writes Return->projects to NYC->caught by the Dark Presence->wakes up in the writer’s room.
Then Alice came, significantly changed the entire loop. She basically created Alan’s “suicide” loop. Every time Alan wakes up in the Talk Show, he touches his forehead, but not when he wakes up in the Writer’s Room. She added even more layers to the spiral, and made a chance for the creation of a spiral.
Alan writes Return->projects to NYC->escaped from the studio->instructed to find Alice’s footages -> caught by the Dark Presence->return to the writer’s room.
Now here is the tricky part. The three times in the game we saw Alan returns to the Writer’s Room is also a big loop itself. Here’s my understanding right now:
The first time back in the room is only the end, not the beginning. He saw the body, then possessed by the Dark Presence, and started the basic loop again. That’s why in the next section we started in the Writer’s Room, then Talk Show.
The second time he returned to the writer’s room, there was already a draft written by his crazy half, try to edit it, then shot by himself(who he thought to be Scratch). Then he is projected to NYC. The process still follows the basic loop, but as you can see it’s cracking.
The third time he returned to the room, he shot himself, realizing it was himself trying to edit the manuscript, then possessed by the Dark Presence, then summoned by Saga. Then the basic loop started again, his crazy half wrote Return, da da da…
Now you might be wondering why didn’t I proceed to Saga’s part?
BECAUSE SAGA CREATED AN EVEN BIGGER BREACH FOR THE SPIRAL.
The three times Alan returned to the room, as I mentioned, IS a bigger loop itself. My theory is that before we step into the game as Saga, the bigger loop has been repeated over and over again. And because this time Saga steps into the story as a hero, the loop was shaken even greater, it is at the very moment we beat the game that a true spiral was created.
And that’s it for my loop theory rn, kudos to any one of you that actually finished it.
There are still a lot of questions, tho. My biggest one is with Thomas Zane. Alan is guided to find Alice’s videos by Thomas Zane EVERY TIME. It truly bugs me because he’s basically helping Alice plan this whole time, even when he lied that Alice is not in the Dark Place but in the real world, and when he fooled Alan that Scratch wrote Return. I know theories out there are saying Zane is the main villain, but I’m conflicted with this one.
#how come that ilkka and matthew together play semi-insane introverted bitch but by their own they play half-naked cryptic psychos 😭#the need to comb his hair is so strong

Last tvtropes post of the night sorry my brain is just going places, the Coriolis Crew is a pretty clear cut Freudian trio, yeah? Devo id, Amber superego, Zoox ego.
Which I think is kinda a neat subversion of expectations too; you’d expect the rough and tumble fighter from a lower class background to be the one challenging social convention, but no, Amber’s spent twenty years getting by by keeping her head down and suppressing her emotions.
You’d expect the guy who’s spent 17 years in the relatively upperclass world of a religious institution to be a repressed stickler for rules, but no, Devo’s a ball of emotion who can’t stand authority.
And you’d expect the guy whose rule in the trio is to keep a balance between the two to be a bit less eager to shoot ppl with crossbows partake in bar fights and or explode undersea facilities than Zoox is
(I’ve made essentially this exact post before I know but I think this version’s phrased better and also it’s my blog I can and will repeat myself ad nauseum.)
#i believe I also referred to Amber and Devo as a hero and lancer pair#which I stand by I think Devo’s Very lancer#icarus is talking
