A&A - Illustrations. I decided to put the comics on hold (forever probably) since I feel like there’s nothing really special about the story. I’ve been quiet this year, just travelling and visiting USA. But hopefully I’ll come back to drawing very soon !

Edit: don’t get me wrong I enjoy my story, but I’m looking to go back to my roots than something overwatchy.

aww thank you!!! I’m glad you liked it so much I remember writing it in like an afternoon because I knew exactly what I wanted to say and how I wanted it to go

anakin probably does get a lot of therapy and Jedi counseling that obi-wan coaxes him into actually listening to and accepting despite his tendency to ignore/not process Jedi advice if it’s steeped in suggestions to meditate etc etc

I think what helps this anakin most is that obi-wan gets a new padawan and he’s like a surly thirteen year old who was chosen by a master at 9 and then lost her during the war — and the padawan acts out and doesn’t want to talk and likes glaring at obiwan a lot and obiwan is just smitten and anakin’s like he reminds you of me 🤨

and obi-wan is like a little bit yes but he also reminds me of me at that age and that draws anakin up short because none of those qualities he sees in himself or in the padawan make him think of obi-wan but can rough edges like the ones this padawan have and the ones anakin have really be smoothed out into a man like obi-wan?

and then he gets to treat this young version of himself with kindness and gentleness he never shows himself and he can also see obi-wan, the guy he loves most in the galaxy, also treat this younger version of himself with kindness and gentleness

and it’s not healing via loving someone else but it’s healing because of tue love you have for others becomes the love you can have for yourself and that you learn to show yourself

actually pax i’ve been meaning to ask you this for a Bit but can you gimme like a basic rundown of the whole whispers/millennium saga. like your wip for dummies

of course!!! it looks long, but i promise i boiled it down as much as i could while keeping all the important stuff 😭

The Millennium Saga:

A fantasy series that starts with the promise of a revolution story, except the revolution itself (at least the part the characters are able to participate in) is over by the end of part one of book one (of ~7), and it quickly becomes a game of cat-and-mouse running from the military retribution that THEN becomes the classic "oh fuck the world/magic is gonna end" plot. Which ends up really being a world-wide societal revolution, because the world was supposedly saved from that shit already, like, 1000 years ago. The Chosen One just lied about it because he ran out of time, begged the Goddesses for more, and is struggling to figure out how to Actually Save It For Real while juggling being an immortal king who is in way out of his depth and has never had, like, friends. Or anyone to tell him what to do without the expectation of being their puppet.

The main narrator of book one, Ember, volunteers for said revolution, but is dragged into the rest of The Bullshit because they are physically incapable of a) leaving their friends behind and b) not telling authority figures like said Chosen One to be better or fuck off.

The other narrators include their long-term boyfriend, Gab (an acrobat/actor/prostitute that's very emotionally intelligent but Not when it comes to his own feelings), their mutual polyam love interest Iceberg/Isa (great grandson of another immortal and grandson of the general that is hunting them after the revolution), and more as the series goes on and slowly switches from their storyline to that of their younger siblings/friends.

You see a lot more of the world in this than in Whispers, and get a shit ton more worldbuilding cause it's, like, plot-relevant. Also we get to meet the Goddesses (x6) and help the Chosen One and his ex-husband work through couples therapy. And collect a found family along the way.

Oh, and save the world through the powers of love (in all its different forms) and intersectional solidarity being the thing the Goddesses admire most about mortality.

Whispers:

Set in the same world, this time it's a standalone and starts ~11 years after the start of TMS. The Fantasy Mafia (the Whispers) has been a problem since before TMS and is actively a problem during it, but is still kicking and getting Worse by the time this book happens.

Our main narrator Marika owes a life debt to them, but has managed to avoid the debt collectors for 10 years... until her ex, Ivan (the dude who indebted her without telling her), shows up with another new recruit to take them to the Mafia HQ up at the north pole. All of them have Issues because no one with a good life has any reason to go to the Whispers for help, and she ends up falling back in love with him while committing terrorism on behalf of the Whispers and their leader, the Shadow.

Our other narrator, Lorelei, is basically the Batman to the Shadow's Joker. Except she wants to kill the Joker, because she recognizes there's no other way to fix That Problem. (Unless...?) She's ALSO got a bit of a dual-timeline story going, because as we see the events of Whispers play out, we also see the events leading up to and after her little sister Meerin's traumatic disappearance 30 years ago, which Lorelei still hasn't stopped searching for answers to. Also her dad was a dick who earned the name Vowbreaker, and she's trying to Not Be Like Him.

Plot Happens, and Marika, Ivan, and their new friend Dakarsa have the chance to get rid of their life debts... if they help the Shadow fuck up Lorelei's best friend's life and also terrorize the entire city she's in.

They agree, of course.

Lorelei has no idea this is coming. She's too worried about this guy who went missing whose description matches Dakarsa's almost perfectly and who apparently died 10 years ago, according to the only record of his existence at all.

Idk why but I definitely think Derek could’ve gotten into fights at high school because he protected other kids from getting bullied. He’s just that kind of guy that hates disrespect towards other people and he would do everything to protect others and especially the ones that can’t stand up for themselves

listen because you are completely correct. we know he used to be scrawny and then he beef caked up at the gym. but i don't even think being scrawny would have stopped him from protecting other people its in his bones that is a man born with the need, not the obligation, to protect everyone he possibly can.

especially the littler kids, the freshmen and sophomores, hell he would even protect a bully from getting hurt. because they're just kids at the end of the day. a bully 90% of the time is a kid also in pain and that's how derek sees it and no matter what, he will do anything he possibly can to prevent a kid from getting hurt.

i can see him, star of the football team, befriending a tiny freshman kid that is taking things one minute at a time because high school is just threats coming at you in every direction. friends, peer pressure, assignments, puberty, dating all of it. he knows some of his teammates are just dumb as hell and like to pick on the freshman just because and he stops it every chance he gets.

he will go up to his teammate while he is picking on a freshman and straight smack him in the head and rip his ass for picking on kids again. he just doesn't get it.

he doesn't understand why some people need to make others miserable. yes, he playfully teases his friends and they tease him, but none of it comes from malice and they all know that. the little kids that get picked on by the big ass football players? they don't know that.

his coach has had to break up several fights between him and his stupid teammates because they just won't stop being jackasses. he has come home from practice with a black eye that had nothing to do with playing football (the first time it happened he was met with a frantic and worried francine morgan who was asking him question after question at rapid speed, trying to get him to put ice on his eye)

and since the football teams are so huge and have so many boys of all different sizes, after they win a game and its time for the team picture, he will find the smallest of his teammates and hoist him up on his shoulders, making damn sure he is seen and feels apart of the team.

My hyperfixation of the week is Austin & Ally and I'm like writing fanfics and wanting to make edits and I'm just like, maybe if I have enough willpower and hope, I can singlehandedly revive the A&A fandom so I can read fanfics and watch videos.

ALSO!

I really wish that The Order had a greater fandom. There's like nothing out there, especially for the Hamish x Randall ship and it saddens me.

You broke me with Anakin letting Obi-Wan take on a new padawan because he deserves a better one 😭 how did you take the widely accepted narrative that Anakin would consider it cheating (he would) and make it so sad 😞 Oh Anakin you are a very broken individual but you are still very loved by the people who love you ❤ Anakin calling himself not worth the money was a punch gut moment, he probably heard that since he was born and it definitely applies to the time and effort Obi-Wan spent on him 😭

absolutely believe there is no version of anakin who would react well to obi-wan taking another padawan tbh like even in this fic, he goes all tense and still and forced and he probably has to remind himself it’s ok and even expected and he loves obi-wan enough to want him to have the very best and everything he deserves.

He has a split second image of Obi-Wan and his new padawan reading separate books and sipping tea at the same time in perfect quiet stillness only for him to come bursting in all loud and rough and undesired, and they’ll both look up at him with the same expression of forced politeness and mild disdain for daring to intrude, and it makes anakin’s heart hurt </3

But it’s what Obi-Wan deserves, to have a padawan who could actually be a good Jedi. And after all the terrible, unforgivable things that Anakin has done, it’s what he deserves—to watch it happen.

how was camping?

it was great!!! we were right on a lake that had some gorgeous sunsets and the weather was amazing!!! (aside from smoke from the canadian wildfires the first couple days </3)

It brought him joy, so where had his empathy gone?  Why had it felt like retaliation instead of entertainment? He’d really messed with him, but didn’t Matt have a habit of doing the exact same? And after Mello had gone along with it back in June, Matt certainly should’ve found it in himself to just laugh this off. They were best friends, playing around like best friends did. There was nothing to get jealous about, not girlfriends for show, nor shows for passersby, because they were above all those things. That hadn’t changed, right? Because Matt would never forgive himself if it had…

Without notice, Mello came skipping back as if nothing had happened, holding— Christ. The relief he’d welcomed turned out to be a bucket of icy humiliation. “Thought this might be juuust garish enough for ya!” He lay the highlighter yellow velour on the nearest stand for him. A tracksuit. Cropped. With bedazzled thong strings. What was that supposed to mean? He was never trying that on. “Yeah, right up my alley…” Mello looked between his discovery and him, beaming pride and accomplishment. “Good. ‘Cause this I’d pay for.” Oh, so that abomination or nothing, was it now? “Think of it as a souvenir…” The tone bordered on villainous, but the one-sided squint turned it downright malefic. Okay, maybe he hadn’t been quite mean enough. Maybe it was actually time for Mello to pay. In full. He turned away a lot more solemnly than he’d come, leaving him there with the cunting thing.
