I love the difficulty curve in the Phoenix Wright series so much.

WAIT HE'S IMPLIED TO DO *WHAT*

So I don't actually remember if Excelsius burning Eustace is implied per se (which is funny to me because. I'm literally playing the case where it WOULD be implied), however, I do think there are a few things that make it a very easy conclusion to come to:

It is at least implied that Excelsius physically abuses Eustace. When Excelsius approaches Eustace from the witness stand, Eustace's chibi shock sprite is used, which makes it look like he's flinching away from Excelsius and protecting his face (something I seriously doubt wasn't intentional and that genuinely made my stomach drop when I got that animation). At the very least, this implies Excelsius hits Eustace on a regular basis.

While definitely not definitive, Excelsius has a tendency to play with fire. He has a lighter on his person at all times. I also think Excelsius having a decorative burn scar on his chin is notable, although again, not definitive.

While this is more to do with the specific sprite used for the associated dialogue (which, to be clear, was a very intentional choice), Excelsius's sprite where his lighter looks like it's emitting a small campfire combined with the "Be careful what you say to me, boy! You might live to regret it!" is. Certainly suspicious. He has other sprites that are used when he's angry. They very deliberately chose that sprite. Combining that dialogue with that sprite makes "You might just live to regret it!" an absolutely horrifying line to think about for longer than two seconds (and there is absolutely no way it wasn't intentional).

So basically in my eyes it's less that it's necessarily implied and more that it's a combination of an incredibly easy conclusion to draw and the sprites used for certain dialogue/interactions. I absolutely think Eustace probably has some burn scars from Excelsius though.

On this note, I think people sleep on how much the sprites used in association with specific dialogue can tell us about a character's intentions. I don't know if the intention with the third point mentioned above was meant to imply that the reason Eustace would "live to regret" standing up to Excelsius was because Excelsius was planning to burn him. Considering literally everything else about Excelsius though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant to imply that.

*also just to note, when I think of something as implied, I generally think of it being something that was intentional. Little clues toward a specific conclusion, if you will. Which is why I don't know if I'd call Excelsius burning Eustace implied or not. He can still fuck off to hell though.

The caffeine for whatever reason hit way too hard on me so here I am joining the bandwagon-

10 min is quite a long time to be unconscious for. Granted, he had nobody to help him but even during 3-5, the last time we saw this in effect, he was only out for how long it took Franziska and Phoenix to run to him so 1-2 min at most. I wonder if it depends on how strong the shaking is? The way he scoffs at the "slight" turbulence sounds like it does. I also wonder how much it has to shake to trigger his phobia. It doesn't specifically have to be an earthquake, something like turbulence is enough but turbulence can also involve a lot of shaking. We saw in 1-4 that he doesn't necessarily always faint but instead rolls into a trembling ball and isn't responsive anymore. Does that depend on the strength of the shaking as well? Maybe it just varies.

Considering how often Miles flies all over the world it's only natural that he would've encountered some turbulence here and there. The way he thinks about it being expected on a flight makes it sound like he hasn't encountered it that often before though that might also be him trying to calm himself down. Gumshoe immediately asks him if he was fine with the turbulence so either he's seen Miles' reaction to it before or he assumes, correctly, that Miles would struggle with it. I wonder if there are any other non-earthquake situations that trigger Miles' phobia?

Ok you're far enough into Turnabout Ablaze that I can finally get into Calisto Yew's name.

It's a name that only makes sense if you know about Babahl, Allebahst, and their respective motifs and ambassadors. Colias palaeno is a species of butterfly, matching the butterfly symbolism of Babahl. Meanwhile, Quercus alba is a species of oak, fitting his nation's plant-theming.

Now, as you mentioned before, Callisto is a character from Greek myth, but Calisto with one "L" is a genus of butterfly, similarly to Colias. Yew, meanwhile, is a tree (and a poisonous one at that). Together, these two names symbolize Calisto's ties to the embassies of both nations (through Alba and Coachen), and by combining the two it alludes to her nature as a double agent of uncertain loyalties and her use of the knife that shares both motifs as a murder weapon.

(I have so much more to say about this character but I'll stop here)

Feeling like I have to have a (dirty) little secret at all times or I start spiraling. Secretly looking at hentai in public, hiding the marks I got from hurting myself (in a pleasurable way), keeping a weird item in my pocket like a small stuffed animal/baby accessory or a knife or something, secretly not wearing underwear or wearing a chastity belt, wearing a bracelet with questionable words on it like "missing" or "nymph", secretly hurting myself in public usually by over pruning, etc.

On the outside some of these may not seem bad but it is highly questionable in my line of work. Some of these may seem very extreme and unhealthy. But I gotta tell ya, it helps me get through the day by day without my brain making me crash out.
