One thing we do not give Midoriya enough credit for is training to be a hero while someone he admired was watching. he had to go from normal nerdy teenager to OFA user & hero school hopeful in like ten months while his idol was literally right there critiquing his every move. have you ever tried to do anything ever while someone you admired was watching you? this truly was my anxiety academia

Sorry if you have been asked this before but I was wondering is there some reason why Kubo never really showed too much regarding Rukia’s feelings towards Renji ? It’s not only her but even Gin & Ichigo with Rangiku & Orihime !! Like he gives enough so people can sense something but he doesn’t give a lot away. Is it about interpretation or he just simply doesn’t want to write romance too deeply ??
Kubo has said quite plainly that he doesn't want to put romance at the forefront. I think he's said this various times in various ways, but here's a pretty definitive quote from an interview he gave at the 2018 San Diego Comicon:
Q: Speaking of Ichigo's relationships with his friends, there seems to be a love triangle between Ichigo, Rukia, and Orihime. Do you delve more into this in later volumes? A. Tite Kubo: (laughs) I get asked about that a lot! I don't want to make Bleach into a love story because there are much more exciting things about their personalities and things that they can do instead of getting into the romance aspect of their relationships.
Kubo's answers are sometimes a little cheeky, but I don't see any reason to read this as anything other than face value. He may have had additional reasons to leave romance out of the story--it's a shounen and he didn't think that stuff would be of interest to the core of his readers, he didn't want to deal with angry ship opinions, etc, etc, but the long and short of it is the guy said "this is not a kissing story" and it's not.
Not to get too nitpicky--this was an interview, there's some degree of translation involved--but I actually find this kind of funny because while I agree that it's not a romance, I would *absolutely* classify Bleach as a love story. Bleach is about 600 love stories. It's about the love between a boy and his precious friends, the love between big brothers and little sisters, about the love between captains and lieutenants, about love that can only be expressed in battle, about love that turns poisonous and corrupts, about love that saves and purifies, about a love for the world you live in and want, with all your heart to make better. And while it's not a romance, I think it is about romantic love as well.
So, even though that's the real reason, I think it is also perfectly in-character for Rukia to act the way she does and I want to yap about it. I can tell right now this is gonna get long, so I am going to put it under a cut.
Just to get it out of the way up-front, I will briefly cover the other characters you mentioned. Both of this could easily merit their own essay, but I want to talk about Rukia, so I'm gonna keep it brief.
My interpretation on Gin and Rangiku is that they were not on romantic terms at any point of the canon timeline. My guess is that when she made it to the Academy and caught up with him again, it very quickly became obvious that he was no longer being genuine with her, and I think she cut him off. He is on a mission for revenge; she doesn't understand why he acts the way he does and distances herself from it. That being said, I (and I think many people?) find their parting scenes to be deeply, tragically romantic. I think this depends on your definition of "romantic." It never would have worked. He ruined it. If he had lived, it would change nothing. But Othello loved Desdemona, too. A story being a tragedy doesn't preclude it being a love story.
Ichigo is a teenage boy with a heart the size of three worlds. I think the amount of emotion he would like to leak out of his body is zero. I think the amount of emotion that does leak out of his body is so high that the signal-to-noise ratio makes it very difficult to discern anything meaningful. My reading of Bleach is that he does have special feelings for Orihime and that they are a slightly different flavor than he has for other people, but it's super hard to tell because he makes the same loving puppy eyes at Chad and Uryuu and Renji and Grimmjow. This guy is constantly torn between loving everyone he knows with the luminosity of a small star and trying to act too cool for school. Also, he's very young. He's still figuring this out, too.
Okay! Let's talk about Rukia!!!
The thing about Rukia is that she is really, really uncomfortable expressing affection. In the flashback scenes where she talks about how much she admired Kaien and Miyako, she's shown standing far away and looking at them from a great distance. When Byakuya compliments her bankai, she squeezes her eyes shut and has to look away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ukitake comments at how remarkably "open" he finds her to be with Orihime, even though what they are actually doing is training. You want to see a love confession? Here's Rukia's love confession to Orihime from We Do (Knot) Always Love You (Renji is here, too):
Feeling a little shy and fidgety, Rukia hesitated a few times as she replied to Orihime. "Th-that's because, Inoue I consider you……my……b-best girl-friend! So therefore……I thought…I should tell you first……" She spoke as her last few words became a little mumbled. "……your face is redder than the time I asked you to marry me ya know." "Sh-shut up!!"
A thing I really like about this though, is that while it is portrayed as something that sometimes holds Rukia back in her relationships, it's not portrayed as some sort of fatal flaw. She's a private person, and that's ok. This isn't a quality we often get to see female characters have. If this were a romance story, maybe we'd have to see her overcome this, but it's not! It's an action story and Rukia is a cool and stoic character, which is exactly how she wants to be!
I'm always pounding my shoe on the table over this, but I really, genuinely think that a significant chunk of Renji's character/personality design was specifically to be Rukia's love interest, which I think is based as Hell of him. He's good-looking, he's cool, he's devoted to her, he's powerful along the rules of the worldbuilding, but not in a way that overshadows her. And he meets her where she is.
The scene where Renji carries Rukia down the 8,000 flights of Soukyoku Hill stairs is, in my opinion, the most romantic scene in all of literature. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Rukia is so upset about being rescued, she is cannot stand the fact that anyone cares about her, or worse, that they would risk themselves for her. It's so clear that Renji understands this, and in the gentlest possible terms, asks her to accept his (and Ichigo's) help, as if she has any say in it at this point. He doesn't even make eye contact as he very obliquely says Let us care about you.
Tumblr media
This causes Rukia, the most repressed woman in the universe, to hunch in on herself so that he can't see her cry and then he tells her to shut up. I am making little graspy hands at my computer as I write this. This is so good. Imagine. Imagine someone understanding you so well that they would spare you from your own emotions in this way. I am going insane.
Tumblr media
This is not a Hallmark Christmas movie. This is a love story for those of us who struggle to connect with others.
I want to kind of hop out and say that I think there's a certain kind of person (me), who gets interested in romances almost exclusively from stories that have little-to-no romantic content. This is not an accident. For me, this is how I like it. I want to read about characters who save the world and I want them to be very business-up-front about it. I mean, yeah, I wouldn't mind if they kissed on screen once, but I don't need it. I have an imagination for that. I have fanfiction for that. I literally want them to do it on their own time. You know what's romantic to me? Meaningful looks. Backing each other up. Fighting in synch. Matching outfits. This is romance to me, and I think Rukia might actually agree with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't to say that this is all of Rukia and Renji's relationship. I think they have talked about feelings, I think they've probably held hands and kissed or whatever, but where and when and how it happened is their own business. I think Renji probably wouldn't have minded getting one on-panel smooch, but this feels exactly how I think Rukia would want her relationship portrayed: We looked very cool and then, several years later, we were married.
Oh, and they also very much did get the horniest panels in all of Bleach, which, weirdly enough, I think Rukia would also approve of.

similar cinematographic choices to portray the same imagery with insanely different circumstantial contexts
#like being tricked into a room and locked off from the outside world with a pitcher of water‚ a waste bucket‚ and an army cot#as you slowly died while experiencing acute mental distress to the point of having a psychogenic seizure at the same time#that people discussed your fate as if it were a decision they had the authority to make (and they DO. unfortunately for you)#vs being tied to chair during which you're in pretty consistent communication and under the care of the person who put you there#and you're narratively given the opportunity to hunt this person down and you even have scenes with hand to hand combat#in which you're able to properly defend yourself. for the other person the idea of your life being in danger is carefully threaded risk#to be taken rather than (as per the previous circumstance described) a decision you have the authority to make#likeee i remember reblogging this post that ssid 'supernatural doesn't really have a concept of jail' but like absolutely yes it does#sam (and even other characters like mary and rowena) are both put in 'jail' as the direct effect to a fault#wrt the winchester familial dynamic and their role. it's one of the main differences here. sam is put in jail‚ dean is not#sam does not have the authority to put him there. it doesn't help that sam is literally pleading as the victim within his scene#while dean is able to victimise sam even as the monstrous body within the 10.03 scene#and the thing is that their identities are being compartmentalised in similar ways here. dean is attempting to save his sammy#from the encroaching (invariable) monstrous sam that which he spends the next season attempting to forgive for the shortcoming#of dean perceiving sam's efforts at independence as abandonment while sam is attempting to save his dean from the encroaching mark of cain#(chosen to be put there yet is still victimised by) and sam spends the rest of the season forgiving him over and over while even#taking misattributed responsibility and blame that which has to be made up for#4.21#10.03#se referat#edit: also adding onto chii's tags wrt the differences in capacity for consent regarding demon!dean#it's so interesting to compare demon!dean to soulless!sam in that demon!dean didn't have the capacity to reject competent!dean's consent#while both soulless!sam and 5.22!sam did not consent to be resouled in respectively active and precedingly passive ways#like 6.12 sam is clearly happy and grateful to have been resurrected and he doesn't even have any specific qualms#about dean keeping information relating to his ressurection from him but 5.22 explicitly made his consent‚ or lack thereof‚ regarding#ressurection clear unlike dean in early-s10... and the thing is that the last time sam didn't pursue dean's ressurection#he faced negative consequences for that decision! and yet dean is seen as objectively correct for his actions in s6#by both the audience and narrative‚ and much of his responsibility regarding sam's psychosis isn't acknowledged as directly related#to his actions vs the pinning of blame to much of early-s10 onto sam esp relating to the guy he had summon a demon‚ who sold his own soul#despite sam's advice‚ whom demon!dean killed

since we’re now talking about the racism in the phandom, i’m very glad it’s being brought to light so thank you to @dapg-otmebytheballs @demonqueenart and everyone else talking about this, i want to talk about cancel culture.
now i’m as white as they come, so before reading any of this i need you all to read the posts made by some of the people starting this conversation. here’s some links. xx xx xx xx xx
the reason i want to bring this up is because it’s something i noticed in a lot of the posts bringing up the behavior that dnp have/have had. its bizarre to me that we as a society, but especially we as a fandom, feel the need to disclose that bringing up problematic behavior isn’t an attack or call to ‘cancel’ someone!
to be able to have an open discussion where people CAN evolve and learn, bad behaviors need to be brought up without the immediate assumption that the person talking about it wants to bring harm to the other.
i am not here to defend dan and phil, they are well old enough to have these realizations on their own and stand for their actions, but, without the space to point out these behaviors, there will be no change. if these questions are being brought up within fandom spaces, why assume that the person means harm? excuse my metaphor but why would they set fire to their own house? i can understand wanting to take something with a grain of salt if it was coming from someone not in the fandom spaces at all, or someone not familiar with dan and phil whatsoever, but since it is the fans bringing this up, the absolute least you can do is believe them and listen.
wanting to see change is far from the same as wanting to see someone ‘canceled’ or lose their platform. these discussions are good and important to have, and i want to again thank everyone who has taken time of their days to speak up about this. it’s labor you shouldn’t have to do, and i really hope that we as a fandom learn from this. i know i will.

Sensei! How does kanji naming works? Say I'm trying to find a kanji writing for the name Karou, how should I go about it? Thank you, and have a nice day!
Hello!! This is a good question, and one that a lot of people have! I'm gonna take some time to answer this both in the context of "naming a character/oc/something fictional" and in the context of "finding a kanji reading for my real name"!
In terms of more abstractly answering the question of how kanji naming works, I'll try and be quick and not get super deep in the weeds or the history of naming conventions in Japan. As is typical of names across cultures, there are two parts of a name: the surname and the given name. Remember that in Japanese, the surname comes before the given name. The surname (or last name) is gonna be the family name, which I usually see a lot less interest in from a character creation standpoint, so I'll be prioritizing given names in my explanations. However, you can use a lot of the same methods I'll talk about later on to find or create surnames!
Generally speaking, seeing a name written in kanji gives you virtually no information about how it is actually pronounced. This is because, in the context of names, kanji can have tons more readings than they have in normal contexts. Many kanji have a larger number of potential readings when used in names, and you also have the trend of kirakira names (キラキラネーム), which are names that use unique readings (or I think even invented readings in some cases??? I don't know that for certain though) of kanji to make that name even more unique. This is part of why business card exchanges are such a big thing in Japan! You can see how the name is written in kanji and see the furigana showing you how to pronounce it so you don't mess either of those two things up in future correspondences.
Basically, all of this to say that finding kanji for a name can be a pretty open process, and you can exercise some creative muscles when looking for good kanji to use! Even in real life, outside of places like novels or anime where characters are very intentionally named, people will choose kanji combinations based on how good they sound, the meanings of the kanji, and how visually pleasant they look together, so you can absolutely let those things factor into picking a name!
Speaking of how characters are named in media, I will add one more thing: the kanji used for names in a lot of pop culture media is pun- or wordplay-based. If you look at the names of characters in a lot of popular anime, manga, and video games, you see that a lot of their name kanji's meanings will be somehow referential to a characters personality, or powers, or role in the story. When naming your own characters and picking out kanji, you can absolutely lean into this because it's a huge part of the creative process of naming characters in lots of pop culture media!
In terms of finding a way of writing a non-Japanese name in kanji, the process is honestly pretty similar! A lot of people I know have had Japanese friends give them suggestions/bestow upon them a kanji writing of their name, but in general there are two methods: get a kanji combination that sounds, roughly, like your name (basically taking the katakana pronunciation of your name and finding how you could construct it using kanji) or find a kanji compound that matches the meaning of your name/matches your vibes, even if it isn't necessarily read in a way that sounds like your name (but, similar to kirakira names, you can put your name reading as the furigana for the kanji compound).
You can find information on the first option by searching up "ateji", which are characters that are used for their sound with little regard for meaning. The kanji that are used to construct the "fancy kanji spellings" of country names are a good example of this! The meanings aren't taken into consideration nearly as much as the sounds are. There are also native Japanese words that are like this, because they weren't originally written using kanji and were just assigned some based on sound! But this is getting off-topic.
The second option I see far more frequently in the "bestowed upon you by a native speaker" category, but basically involves taking information about your name's meaning, your personality, interests, career, and other details about you, and looking for kanji that align with some aspect of you. Generally people are gonna make an effort to make the compound read as similarly to your name as possible, but like I said above they won't necessarily, and I know a couple of people whose kanji names wouldn't be intuitively be read in a way that sounds like their names.
Your second question, about how to go about finding a writing for a specific name, is gonna be a little bit different than just the abstract discussion of how it works. A lot of my friends have asked me the same thing, so I've got a couple of methods that I can recommend. However, I am obviously learning Japanese as a second language, so I'm sure there's some methods/information I'm missing in this answer! I'll mention some things specific to character-naming here, but the resources themselves can generally be used for both finding a kanji transliteration of your own name and naming a character!
Alright!! Now to offer the resources that I will usually recommend and use:
Use baby name finder/character name generator websites,
Baby name sites, in my experience, are pretty popular for finding character names in general, so I'm guessing a decent amount of people are familiar with the method! Character name generators are also pretty popular in my experience, and can be a good backup if you don't have anything specific in mind. You can use either baby name sites or character name generator sites the same way you'd use them for other character names that aren't written in kanji! The difference here is obviously that you'll be looking at which specific kanji the name is made of, but a lot of name sites will provide multiple possible kanji combinations for one name.
If you know enough Japanese to navigate a website, you can use some Japanese baby name sites like these:
https://b-name.jp/
https://sp.babynames.jp/
Which can provide both lists of baby names based on popularity and provide name searches/name generation based on search terms you put in. These, and other sites like them, often let you search for specific kana sounds, then provide some kanji compounds that align with what you're searching for (either starting with, ending with, or including the sound/sound combination you've put in). You can also find kana sound searches that allow you to sort based on the kana the name starts with, as in the second site I've linked. These are more helpful if you have a first sound in mind, but nothing else, and they can take a long time to scroll through because they'll provide pretty much all of the popular kanji combinations for each given name. If you like just scrolling through names for fun/inspiration/etc., it'd probably still be a pretty good time! These are basically the same as using an English baby name search site, so if you know some rudimentary Japanese and can read kana + some kanji you can use this method for some great results!
If you don't know any Japanese, that's totally fine-- some English-based name search sites, for example https://www.behindthename.com/ , provide the kanji for Japanese names they have in their databases. I'd say these are probably the next best thing! You have to be a little more conscious of where they're sourcing the name so you know if you're referencing an existing fictional character with the name, since fictional characters are usually a part of user submitted name lists (although I would say be aware of this finding any names through resources that allow user submissions, not just names written using kanji). On sites like these, you can search for the sounds you want the same way you'd search for them in any other language, and just limit the results to Japanese names.
In terms of character name generators, my top suggestion would be both the Japanese- and English-based versions of the Super Japanese Name Generator, found at https://namegen.jp/ and https://namegen.jp/en respectively! Friends of mine have told me they've had luck using both versions, and it provides lots of good information for each name it generates! It also generates both surnames and given names, which can be useful!
If you can read/understand some basic Japanese, you can find lots of other options by looking up search terms like "キャラクター名前メーカー"; I think you could probably find some English-language generators too, but I've had way less success finding English-based generators that actually provide kanji for the names.
2. Use a dictionary
https://jisho.org/ is a really popular online Japanese dictionary, and it has a whole subset of name-related tags you can add to your searches to specifically try and find names that begin with, end with, or contain the sounds you want. In my experience, I've had more success when typing the sounds out in kana, but in most cases you can still get a lot of results even if you don't! This is probably gonna be one of your best options if you don't speak any Japanese, because the navigation for the site is all in English, and you can click on the details of the individual kanji to see their English meanings.
There are some other sites out there which are name-focused catalogues, however the only ones I know of are entirely in Japanese (https://myoji-yurai.net/ is the main one I can think of off the top of my head), but generally these are more beneficial for pulling up the readings of a kanji you already have identified, not so much for finding kanji for sounds you have in mind.
Obviously some of these resources are gonna be less accessible if you don't know any Japanese, so I apologize for that, but I hope my answers were able to help you out a bit anyways!!

random thought bc i was making alphyne sims LOL, do you think undyne would ever want to have children? how do you think she’d be as a parent?
While I personally don't quite have a "definite yes" or "definite no" answer for this I personally think that, yeah, possibly! I think it's a question with a lot of layers to it, "is it something the character would want?" "Is it something the character should do?" "How much thought would the character put into it all beforehand?" "How long would the character wait before making that choice?" And first of all I think I should talk about fandom culture's view on kids in general. Why? Because I'm obsessed with validating my opinions like this
It's been said many times by many people now how there are a lot of times where fans end up writing completely out of character for the purpose of placing characters into positions of stereotypical familial structures- ESPECIALLY forcing women into the roles of motherhood where it doesnt fit or make sense for them to the point where I don't think I can really add anything substantial or important to the topic. The pros have very much said what needs to be said.
HOWEVER. I ALSO LIKE TO HAVE FUN WITH FUCKING CHARACTERS. I LIKE TO EXPLORE DIFFERENT TOPICS AND SITUATIONS WITH THEM. I WANT PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO SHAMELESSLY ENJOY THEIR RIGHT TO INTERPRET CHARACTERS WHERE THEY THINK NESCECARY. WHERE THEY THINK FUCKING FUN!!!
So with that said, while demeaning female characters to singular sad and one dimensionsional traits of "Mother" is very clearly to me Not A Good Thing, people should stop acting like it's a fucking sin to imagine the possibility of a character having a child while still retaining all their accurate attributes, because it is a very possible thing that can be and IS done!!!!!
What are my thoughts on Undyne with all this?
Tumblr media
Hehhaahehehaa....... strap in.
Where do I BEGIN. How about the inspirations behind the character of undyne herself.
Tumblr media
Ok so see this wonderful lass here. That's a sculpture by Chauncey Ives of the mythical water spirit, Undine. Thinking about it, you all probably know this anyway because I do fairly often reblog Undine themed stuff too. Because I'm just like this. But how about the interesting stuff?
The original myth, created by Paracelsus, an alchemist and philosopher born in the 1400s, I believe comes from his work "A Book on Nymphs, Sylphs, Pygmies, and Salamanders, And Kindered Spirits". I think that's what it was called. I'm too tired to talk fully about it specifically and we need to get to the point so have a video of some guy reading it here
youtube
Yay :]
It's pretty much what it says. Paracelsus essentially believed that elemental beings (whom he had adapted and reimagined from ancient or traditional at the time sources) were simply part of the strangeness of God's natural creation and should be studied, as part of appreciation of the Bible etc. And we know ALL ABOUTTTTT utdr and its biblical links/imagery. But back to undine :]
Paracelsus named his takes on the classic concept of elementals: gnomes for earth (YES HE INVENTED THE WORD GNOME!!!!!), sylphs for air (yeah he also invented the word sylph), salamanders for fire (he didn't invent that :[), and of COURSE! UNDINES FOR WATER! He believed undines to be fairly similar to humans, a significant difference being the lack of a soul. Which surely means nothing when talking about Souls Are Important the Video Game. And anyways according to him they were apparently fairly capable of getting a soul through love. Wikipedia also says that Paracelsus says that a child from this love will too have a soul which is nice
Blablabla Wikipedia says undines are like fucking desperate to get a husband or whatever but dudeeeee she can do whatever she fucking wantssssss. I think she can and should be enjoying her life with alphys rather than it being a thing just for a living soul or whatever. They're just happy, no mythology attached
Onto the most iconic interpretation of the myth, 1811s Undine by Friedrich De La Motte Fouque. When you think of the tale of Undine it's almost always that it's this specific story you pull from. Apart from another one I'll briefly touch on later (please hope it's brief). In it, Undine is a woman adopted by a fisherman, who was taken in by the fisherman after his own child died. Hmmmmm wow hmm sort of like how asgore took in undyne after his children died HM BACK ON TOPIC. Personality-wise, Undine is described by Wikipedia (because I don't have the book) as "erratic", and "capricious", which Google dictionary describes as "given to sudden and unaccountable changes of mood or behaviour", which again sounds quite similar to the Undyne we all know and love.
It mentions that when married to Huldbrand (the main guy in the book he's not important tho) she is "kind and gentle" and yeah imo the writing with this IS kinda shit HOWEVER I think if were simply using this as inspiration for undyne I can definitely imagine her *eventually* becoming a calmer and more thoughtful person with A: the presence of someone like alphys to mutually love and understand her for her and B: the absence of having to worry about a war to fight and always sort of being on edge and just being. Like that. And again this would all be a *progressive experience*, rather than in the book where undine literally switches up over night. I do like to consider character and stuff
There's this line from the Wikipedia summary which jumpscared me
Tumblr media
I 0% believe this has any significance to deltarune whatsoever however it was so funny out of context I had to add it
Another completely unrelated thing here but there's a fucking guy called "Kuhleborn" and I just. Can homestuck leave me alone. FOR FIVE MINUTES.
Sorry back to cherry picking the story to fit undyne.
Ok so truthfully I don't find anything else from that specific story that I find particularly helpful to undyne, the rest of it's kinda just useless to my point. Re-establishing the fact here that I skipped over a most of the actual significant parts of the story because I specificly want to talk about how I see it parallel to undyne. But that's it really. I just especially wanted to mention this adaptation of the story as it is pretty much the most iconic interpretation of the myth.
That is, interpretations that specifically refer to its source by name. Because by far the most well known media to draw influence from the myth of undine is the iconic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, "The Little Mermaid". I don't have much to say on how the little mermaid does take much inspiration from undine, other than the way andersen himself interpreted the story. Simply, the fact that Hans Christian Andersen, a man who based this story off of his own feelings at the inability for another man to reciprocate feelings of romance for him, and resonated with the story of undine so much that it was a source of inspiration for the little mermaid itself is so crazy to me. Like. Here is a queer man who read the tale of Undine and understood it so much he wrote his own story inspired by it and made it tie in with his own experiences of homosexuality! Like that's so crazy to me! Because it just makes the undertale character of undyne being sapphic so much better to me! It took the sad story of gay tragedy and took it and made it a story of gay joy!!!!!!! We are all so happys forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok ummmm. I got carried away because we are steering very far away from what this post was originally about. Umm. Point is. Original story was of queer sadness but undertale is now of queer joy + the story of queer joy being based on story where being with this person who you really love and being truly and properly bonded in an undeniable and magical way is enough to give you a soul that will live forever. I think that's somewhere near the point I'm trying to make but at the same time it's not quite the point I was trying to make. And this is absolutely just one interpretation of one relationship and this is by no means in any way supposed to be the end all be all of what ANY relationship should be. I really don't think this is what the definition of love is. However for these characters I feel it can be a huge aspect of it for them
NOW FINALLY MOVING ON TO THE ACTUAL CHARACTER FROM UNDERTALE THANK FUCKING GOODNESS!!!!!
Oh undyne. With some of the implications in game that she lost her family, I very much imagine her being cautious with this sort of situation. Would she be able to handle is for example? Would she know what to do. Given its something she might not even have real first hand experience of, is it something she would even want to risk forcing upon another person? I think she struggles so much with responsibility as it is. She wants nothing more than to protect people and cheesus if she had a kid of her own you know she would be doing every single thing in her power to make sure that kid never has to face what she did. Undyne says at one point in game (if you kill her in neutral i believe) she never told alphys the way she felt because if/when she died in battle, she wouldn't want alphys to deal with that. And again, she really would not want to have a kid if she worries that one day that kid would have to worry about someone they truly care about not being with them anymore
So *would* she want them? I don't really think it would be an overwhelming innate desire or anything like that, but really not against it. Sged need a lot of time beforehand first. Some time to live her life to the fullest, time to make sure it's something she can handle without guilt, time to make sure it's something that does bring her joy. And then yeah, 6 or 7 years minimum I can see it happening. And I think it would be nice
"Now let's talk about susie, can we talk about susie? Please stun (and other readers) I've been dying to talk with you about susie all post, okay?" /ref
Tumblr media
I don't really have anything to add I just think alphyne should adopt susie. In every timeline. Undertale deltarune I just think ok. Because she doesn't have a good home life to the point where she's like just Not Safe and hm young couple with no children in her area? Undyne would want to help her soooo bad because she understands just what it feels like to be young and alone not really cared for and she would NEED to fix it. That's defo how it is for undertale at LEAST. Idk entirely with dr if it'd be exactly like that cause we don't know what undynes got going down in dr yet.. but even so that's nothing to stop them
Anways yeah I think you mightve been waiting just a wee bit long for the answer to this ask I uhh.....m.....mmmm. yeah man I... yeah. I really do genuinely hope you enjoyed his tho cause uts currently quarter to 2 in the morning and I'm going on a train & to the aquarium tmrw so my ass CANNOT be waking up at 11 am again. Shits fucked. But when I tell you when I'm locked in on an undyne topic I AM LOCKED IN. IT TOOK A WHILE BUT I FINALLY DID IT. MORE THAN HALF OF THIS WAS WRITTEN WITH NO BREAKS OF CHECKS BUT THATS THE BEAUTY!!!!!! FLY MY SCARAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#been thinking about this driving myself crazy over my answer to this ask for so long#the thing is while I put a lot of thought into it what if everyone else disagrees and ive commited a ''character misinterpretation''™️?#i like the idea of it‚ but I do also want to prove myself as undyne understander no1 and I do not think i would be able to handle myself if#-i lost that#and then theres questions like ''would this be something people want to see?'' ''is there a specific way it should be done?''#''would this be a choice thatd be good FOR the characters to make''#and again. i have put SO much thinking into this. but its in a way where ive thought about it so much that maybe no one would even understa#have i completely thrown away the original character aside in favour of something i think is ''right''?#ive heard it a few times that the concept of fan children arent good because uts just trying to put characters into a#''stereotypical perfect little societally correct family''which ABSOLUTELY makes sense to me#which is why i overthink so much about how i portray it all. so i can get it right#but what if even then im still wrong. or what if im just here thinking way too hard about having fun on the Internet. i wrote a lot here sr#asks#chat you dont want to know how long ive had this ask for........listen i have a lot of thoughts and it takes me a really long time2 share o#the more i like something the more care goes into it. care = time. i think ive had this ask for a year.#can you tell i went off the rails here#unaltered#shot dead#do i even dare main tag#we'll see how the post goes over and when ive given it some thought I'll either tag it or i wont ok goodnight ily all <333333333#!!#undertale#bogos i binted#utdr#undyne#undyne undertale#undyne deltarune#undyne the undying#deltarune#undine
