Hi anon <33 I really wanted to finish this in one part because i loved this req in specific (i love fischl) but idk why I’m lacking sm motivation,,, so I decided to split this into 2 parts (hopefully) i hope you don’t mind,,, thank you so much for requesting <33 if you’re unsatisfied just tell me and i’ll redo it !! <33

⭑ When he first met you, AVENTURINE was a bit taken aback with your speech and eccentric character in general. You claim to be royalty from a far away world, and while Aventurine didn’t quite believe it at first there was a small part of him that was lowkey kind of convinced.

⭑ He was a bit concerned that someone like you was so high ranking in the IPC because he knows the IPC is probably exploiting you especially because you seem to be a bit naive, so he’ll start watching over you.

⭑ He’ll gradually get used to your persona and understand what you say. He might need a second to process if you drop a huge paragraph of dialogue on him, but with every conversation and interaction he gets faster.

⭑ Takes one to know one — AVENTURINE can tell you’re trying to cope with something that’s happened in the past via roleplaying this character you put on, and he won’t be the one to burst your bubble. In fact, he’ll try to protect it for as long as possible.

⭑ Nobody’s going to make fun of you while he’s around. If anyone tries to reality check you, he’ll lowkey gaslight them into thinking that everything you say is real. Yeah, you’re a royal. He’s also actually seen this far away land you speak of, so that person is just being an ignorant hater !!

⭑ If your character is based off of someone from a book like Fischl, AVENTURINE will find that book and read it to better understand your references and persona as a whole. Likes seeing how you get happy when he references something.

⭑ If you ever feel insecure because of your past, AVENTURINE will be there to comfort you. He’s good at picking up signs when it comes to you because he practically had your character memorized. He’ll try to distract you from your past but if you do want to open up and vent he’ll be there to listen.

⭑ Give him a role in your little world and he’ll play it scarily well. Would probably do best as a royal advisor or assistant.

⭑ Buys you literally anything and everything that could fit your aesthetic and world. Fancy gems to add to your riches because every royal needs to have riches!! Buys you clothes too that you think is fit for royalty of your world.

⭑ You practice archery next to him while he practices gun shooting and it’s nice bonding time,,

⭑ Was not in any way bothered or confused by your eccentric mannerisms. JING YUAN’s pretty used to the unique speech style due to Fu Xuan, so he understands what you’re saying or at least gets the basic idea.

⭑ Oh? You’re a royal from a far away distant land? Yes yes, how nice. But royals do need to complete their training as well, no? As a cloud knight, he’s impressed with how you easily climbed up those ranks. Praises you whenever you somehow jump up a rank quicker than the last.

⭑ He doesn’t really suspect too much of your personality and that you’re putting up a front until you slip out and go ooc which makes him do a double take mentally. When you get all flustered and a bit distressed, he’ll reassure you by acting like nothing happened.

⭑ It’s then that he really pays attention to the little story you have going on with the world you live in. If he ever forgets something important, he’ll apologize and tell you that he never meant to insult your highness.

⭑ Another one that would protect your little bubble. I don’t think anyone would really want to say something bad about a high ranking cloud knight but even if they wanted to if JING YUAN or Yanqing were to hear they wouldn’t know peace,,

⭑ He can play the role you give him should you give him, especially as a general. You tell him about someone trying to attack your kingdom and he’ll reassure you he’s got this !!

⭑ Keeps a piece of paper in his pocket that has details about your persona if it’s based off of a character from a book. Also probably has a timeline on all your 'historical' events — sometimes he scares you because it feels like he knows more about your world than you do,,

⭑ He finds your keen instincts and intuition a bit intimidating. Have you ever thought of learning a thing or two from Fu Xuan? He always trusts you whenever you feel uncertain about a plan or idea because somehow you’re almost always right in the end.

⭑ Becomes your archery mentor and will watch over you as you train. Your skills are impressive and he finds amusement in the way you pose after a full combo.

⭑ If you feel upset because of your past, JING YUAN will comfort you and tell you that you don’t have to grow up — you’re still young and deserve to enjoy what remains before you become an adult and have to face the world. He’ll always be proud and support you no matter what.

⭑ The talk of an eccentric worker in the reverie hotel had easily reached SUNDAY’s ears, and wanting to see who this eccentric worker was, he decided to wander around during his free time to catch them in action.

⭑ It wasn’t hard to find you as you were a bit loud. Pushing the cart of luggage while speaking of your magical kingdom to the guests as they nod along, clearly invested and assuming you were a storyteller. Once you had brought the guests’ luggage to their room and left, SUNDAY made his way to you to talk with you in interest. You had quite the imagination and spoke in a very sophisticated manner for your age.

⭑ Wasn’t at all phased by the paragraphs upon paragraphs of dialogue you would drop on him, replying easily and holding the conversation well. He noticed you seemed happier the longer he spoke to you.

⭑ While some guests may be annoyed by your behavior, he’ll remind them — if he’s present — that penacony is the land of festivities and many different people visit. Plus, you’re young and free to be who you want to be. If you’re really get picked on though he’ll deal with them personally.

⭑ SUNDAY is scarily observant so he knows you’re playing a character. He doesn’t really acknowledge it too much or confronts you, though, since everyone in penacony is also technically playing the character they wish they were.

⭑ Because of that, SUNDAY will let you do as you please. He’ll indulge you and will play the role you wish for him to play. He’s good at acting, so he can play whatever you wish. It reminds him of when he’d play pretend when Robin when he was younger.

⭑ Has everything about your character memorized. However he knows what to say and what not to say so he doesn’t fluster you by knowing more than you. Will also cover for you if you accidentally go ooc.

⭑ Your ability to rise up in the ranks so quickly will eventually make you work directly under him at some point and when that happens trust that people will refer to you with a royal title. He may indulge you a bit too much,,,

⭑ When you open to SUNDAY about your past, he kind of just. . . Dodges the subject after that. Doesn’t mention it at all. May act like your father a bit and call you his [insert royal title here] — you never realize it’s him trying to reassure you that you needn’t worry about growing up and being mature because of the role you’ve given him.

⭑ Gets a bit worried for your safety when you practice archery, but he also appreciates the fact you can take care of yourself should you face any dangers (especially in the dreamscape.)

⭑ Takes your advice and warnings a bit seriously because of how good your intuition and keen instincts were. (He didn’t listen ONCE and he paid the price.)

⭑ He has no idea when it happened, but one day BLADE became your 'knight' and he has yet to comment on it. Not really the best knight as he doesn’t really stay close to you on the daily however also a really good knight as he protects you during missions to the point where you don’t use a single arrow.

⭑ Can understand what you day, does not translate for other people. You’re the yapper and he’s the listener. Doesn’t reply like 95% of the time but when he does it’s really flat and monotone which you don’t mind because he’s the big scary knight !!

⭑ Gets teased by the other stellaron hunters for indulging you, but he doesn’t really care too much. He can’t leave you to die during missions, can he? You’re way too young to hold your own properly so he’s there to make sure the number of stellaron hunters doesn’t decrease (that’s his reasoning don’t ruin it pls.)

⭑ Said this in other posts: not the best at comforting so when you open up, he’s kind of just,,, there. He’s also a bit distant sometimes but after that he’ll try to put an effort into playing his role so you don’t get upset or feel like he’s ignoring you.

⭑ Nobody thinks of making fun of you or your interests because BLADE’s always standing behind you — even if you’re tall for your age it’s still very scary to have him just staring at the person with a dead look.

⭑ Doesn’t research your character like the others — he learns as he goes. He doesn’t even have the chance to mess up because he just doesn’t talk much so he can’t mess up.

⭑ Not much to say for Bladie he just goes with it,,

“honestly, i’m always around men,” she laughs, scrunching her nose. “i live with a man. so being around women is always a very nice change.”

“right, you recently moved in with logan sargeant in the uk,” hannah points out. “if you don’t mind me asking, how did that decision come about? because you’re really good friends with oscar piastri as well, how come he doesn’t live with you guys?”

“oh, that’s an interesting point,” emma frowns. “i never thought of that.”

“yeah, so growing up oscar and logan actually stayed with my family on and off just because they’ve got brothers and sisters that their parents would have to attend to back home,” she recalls out loud, remembering the sleepovers they’ve spend in the living room with her siblings. “i think when i was… like 15, oscar was 16, and logan was 17, obviously.

i think my sister and i had a really bad fight that turned the house upside down. i mentioned that i couldn’t wait to move out and never speak to her again — i was very overdramatic as a teen. and they were like ‘yeah, that’s a good idea! we should get a place!’”

“oh, so you didn’t even propose the idea of living together?”

“exactly! they just love inviting themselves to be a part of my life. they’ve got cars while i don’t, so that’s a big plus,” she laughs. “then, well, oscar met lily when he was 18 and they got an apartment together after oscar landed reserve driver for alpine. which then left logan and i to kinda figure things out. then, we both landed a contract to race in the 2023 season and both our racing headquarters are in uk, luckily. so we made the decision to move in together earlier this year.”

“that’s okay,” she scoffs, waving off the host’s concern. “we live pretty close by, so lily and oscar are always at our place anyway.”

“so, i totally don’t wanna get into it. but like, girl to girl,” hannah grins giddily. “and i promise we’ll get into the racing stuff in a bit, but i’m just curious.”

“it’s okay because i like you guys,” she jokes. “ask away.”

“there’s a lot of speculation that you and logan seem to be too close to just be best friends,” hannah explains. “and it’s seemed to be a trend since you were in f2 together, so i just wanna ask you if… well…”

she smiles. this isn’t exactly the first time she’s heard that. while they preferred to keep their relationship under wraps for several reasons, her and logan aren’t very discreet either.

there are pictures on the internet, after races where they head to weigh-in together with logan holding her things, laughing as they walk, which is normal. but there are also a couple of pictures where they were caught with logan’s hand on her cheek, or of them walking in the paddocks with her hands wrapped around his arm.

she’s not shocked that people talk about their relationship, but more shocked that everyone seems to shrug it off as them being really good friends.

“we’re actually not romantically involved at all,” she lies, though her cheeks flush up at the thought of her boyfriend. “i think we met really early on in life so we’re super comfortable with each other.”

“so, you’re setting the record straight. you don’t have a man.”

I’m literally so excited you are incorporating some of my favorite things: you and OTH and I’m so excited😭

let’s get into it!!!

1. with nathan they have a pretty decent relationship. they lean on each other a lot since they live in the same house and have to deal with dan and deb. nathan is protective over reader and tries to include her in everything bc he knows how his dad is with her. im just a sucker for a good sibling relationship 😭 with lucas, it’s nonexistent because she’s had dan in her ear her entire life telling her to not acknowledge him. so she just ignores him. she’s not really mean to him like nathan is she just wants nothing to do with him because her dad has told her that lucas was a mistake he couldn’t fix. readers relationship with deb is good in the beginning but it gets a little rough once we get further in the story. (i don’t wanna say much or spoil anything because adri is still watching the show but you understand where im going with this 🤣) dan is definitely a jerk in this story. he’s not very fatherly to his daughter because he focused on nathan way more and puts her in the background so she gets ignored a lot by him.

2. i don’t have any tension planned in the beginning between nathan and jake just bc jake stays to himself for the most part in the early seasons bc of reasons so i feel like nathan wouldn’t give him the time of day until it starts interfering with his basketball skills or practices and then he starts to notice. but once reader and jake get into a relationship, nathan definitely pays more attention to make sure he’s not messing with his little sister.

3. she’s not modeled after any character in the show but does share some similar interests as peyton just bc i love peyton with all my heart. i feel like her and peyton get along pretty well bc they both have a love for music and they bond over that and she’s dating nathan so they see a lot of each other lol she’s a cheerleader and enjoys it because that’s the only time she feels like people actually notice her (sobbing) she’s smart but in the way lydia off of teen wolf was smart (idk if you’ve watched that show but highly recommend) she acts dumb but is actually smarter than everyone in the room but she doesn’t want anyone to know it because she doesn’t want to be seen as a nerd or weird. she likes random facts about stuff and reads a lot historical books but doesn’t like to tell people. so far that’s all i have written down for her but im sure more will come!

4. jenny and nikki will still be in the story 🙂 but slightly altered to fit my story and plotlines so some of the stuff that happens in the show won’t happen in this version. nikki slap is definitely staying so don’t you worry!

there’s a lot of things I noticed this time that I didn’t before but that’s just bc as a Natalie stan I must be looking at her the whole time

- I never noticed Gabe throwing Dan’s keys in Just Another Day before that’s SO funny

- I also finally saw Diana kiss Henry, she really WENT FOR IT

- is it just me or does the Wyndhams need to turn up their mics?? Maybe it’s just that I need it In My Ear Canal but I’ve noticed the singing is a bit quiet (I also didn’t notice this in Oklahoma)

- I love Gabe holding the microphones to Natalie and Dan during their I’m Alive dialogue. He might be a demon with the spirit of a dead two year old but he’s sooo silly :D

(this is getting long so more under the cut)

- something something Natalie playing her fake keyboard with the band’s piano behind her, something acting and pretending like she’s a normal person with a normal family

- I just realised that Gabe AND Natalie licks up Diana’s leg. Diversity win

- the parallels of Gabe and Diana reaching out to each other in Im Alive vs Natalie reaching down to her in Wish I Were Here (and maybe Catch Me I’m Falling) i feel sick,,,

- Gabe holding Diana in I Am the One like Henry’s holding Natalie, welcome back Freudian Gabe

- also the head kiss parallel with Gabe in Just Another Day and before he’s about to leave in I Dreamed a Dance

- the blood is so visceral but a part of me misses the bway staging too where they just walk off slowly and as dr madden talks abt Diana’s attempt. It’s basically the same thing but the reveal felt slower idk

- also man every time I miss the donmar staging of the one tiny bit where Dan’s going “Is this helping or? Di?” as Diana just walks off and back to the therapy chair. Idk it just felt like dissociation better to me, but I do like Ominous Circle Of Thinking

- I also love love love how they play the “I love you as much as I can” in this. They play it like a failed charm roll, and you really get everyone’s frustration and that she’s trying hard

- and then in Maybe when you see that Diana actually knows Natalie deeply bc she’s like her,,, hold on. Similarly, I love how the first person Natalie hugs in act two (I think?) is Diana instead of Henry. Me when the real story is between a mother and daughter (mamma Mia who)

- Diana rolling her eyes and mouthing ‘oh my fucking-‘ to Dan going “can you tell me what it is you’re afraid of” is maybe the best representation of anxiety and I’m not even kidding, MOOD Diana

- god I know it’s been in all the productions but I love how much agency Diana has, you rarely see it with mentally ill characters but she’s so funny and knows what she wants and I love her

- everyone’s said it, everyone knows it but JACK WOLFE god he’s amazing every time

- I’ve thought this both times, is it just me or when Gabe is silhouetted (I think with the music box) is his neck like inhumanly thin??? Like genuinely asking, I don’t think that’s Jack’s neck?? Is it?? Am I just misunderstanding human anatomy when someone wears a hoodie

- I’ve said it before but I Am the One reprise is one of the best scenes in musical theatre and it should end there. I’m a Light hater SORRY, I like the message a lot but it’s always felt like a studio note or something where they’ve been told that it has to be uplifting at the end or it’ll do badly and make everyone sad

- natalie,,, covering her ears and her big headphones. Autism. Also really love Eleanor’s portrayal of her anxiety. Instead of Jen’s anger, she has a hamster like anxiety quality to her (complimentary)

- also I swear I see no one talk about it WHEN GABE TOUCHED NATALIE’S HAND??? AND SHE NOTICES SOMETHING??? That’s new for this production right?? Theories???

- Natalie starting to tidy up Gabe’s toys,,, she’s breaking the cycle,, she’s the hope. And playing with them with Henry and showing him the bunny toy 😭

- I’ll say it. The “you’re like number one on my list of problems” doesn’t work that well if you don’t have Jen and Adam’s sarcasm. Too earnest. Banned.

- I’ve said a lot abt this Henry but I actually like this act 2! He plays him v desperate and anxious which I don’t think Adam does, it shows the stakes for act two. Also his arc UGH. From being a Dan parallel where he’s saying he’ll be perfect for her and that he wants who he knew and that he’ll stay anyway because he made a promise to,,, the dance and saying that he’ll stay bc he loves her and he doesn’t care if she goes crazy

- Also I think Natalie mouths ‘help me’ as she stops Henry from walking off in A Promise owwww

- also Henry apologising to the pianist after the recital (I think?) and picking up Natalie’s bag from the club 😭

tokyo debunker spoilers + spy theories

i’m really hoping kaito isn’t the spy bc i think i would actually cry but it seems kinda likely seeing as he’s the odd one out in frostheim (king, bishop / advisor, knight, and archer??) and we’ve yet to see his pact fully in action apart from that one scene in the prologue. plus i feel like taiga saying “are you gonna let him keep fooling you” implies that the spy is really close to us? and the best friend to traitor pipeline is sooooo predictable. also there’s the odd mystery of his pendant which gets a few comedic mentions, but that seems like a very major part of his character to leave only for jokes.

on the other hand i’m squinting at luca and haku so hard i’m practically blinking. but haku is almost too shady and i think being the exchange student is enough of a gimmick for luca. there’s something off about tohma as well but i can’t name anything other than “he’s just got the vibes” so i’m putting him on the back burner.

also i still don’t trust subaru. i’m sorry there’s just something about that guy which seems too nice for me. i just can’t believe that his big scary secret was that his stigma is………SLIGHTLY different from what he said it was. like. buddy. you’re joking with me there’s gotta be something else. you committed murder or something idk. you’re just too clean.

i’m also thinking. what if the spy is one of the staff? like wouldn’t it be funny if we were suspecting all the students and then BAM cornelius pulls out a gun and just shoots someone lmao. i’m kinda looking at dante too bc he’s supposed to be dead as hell but idk. maybe it’s hyde.

or maybe i’m off and it’s just one of the obscuary guys. it could be rui honestly. i wouldn’t be surprised but how would taiga know about us having met rui. unless that rumor about him knowing the future is real. would also put some odd foreshadowing behind him saying “let it all burn to the ground.” like sir. what do you mean. come back and explain.

hi bat<3 i feel like you’re definitely not a die-hard fan of the big 3, but for someone like me who’s been watching men’s tennis since the early 2010s, they’re like everything.

so i wanted to ask: out of the big 3 (or big 4?) pairings, which duo do you think is more interesting? like which one feels more worth exploring in your opinion?

i just watched roger’s docu recently, and omg he gave novak a solo moment. not like a story about them, just a montage of novak yelling and screaming on court. then roger went, “this might not reflect well on novak.” it lowkey gave me vale/jorge vibes, not a perfect parallel, but within the big3/big4, they’re the duo that feels the least… connected. and yet, when it comes to tactical and technical richness, they’re at the top. roger’s obviously way more arrogant than vale, like he just doesn’t see novak as special or even interesting. meanwhile, novak used to be that guy who wanted everyone to like him, but now he’s completely over it. over the years, there’s just been this constant low-key, non-vibe-y energy between them. but their matches? they somehow deliver these insane moments at the most unexpected times. at the laver cup, roger said something to novak, and then novak cried.

i’m less into roger/rafa, partly because i’m not a rafa fan, but also because they suddenly turned into this ideal rivalry narrative, and honestly, that kinda freaked me out. i’m slowly starting to understand the feelings between them, though. like, i still don’t buy into the whole “greatest rival” thing because, let’s be real, on both the competitive and career-defining levels, it’s just not that mutual. but yeah, their pairing definitely had its advantages—sorry for saying this, but it’s true. the 2008 wimb F is obviously historic, but if you actually watch it all the way through, it’s not that great. it’s the unpredictable weather that gave it that epic feel.

and then there’s andy/novak, who’ve always been my fave because of their history and the emotional layers in their rivalry. like, when viktor troicki recently said novak was looking for a “big name” coach, my friends and i joked about it being roger, but none of us thought of andy. and then it happened. i still can’t believe it. from my very limited tennis perspective, andy’s kinda feels like a subset of novak’s. i don’t really know what qualities do coaches even need in tennis, and how do they maximize a player’s potential? so i’m really curious to see what they come up with together. their dynamic peaked in 2016, which was also the only time the big4 rivalries genuinely made me sad. so yeah, they totally deserve this heartwarming closure.

I dozed off to the 2019 wimbledon final last night so idk. this isn't nadal retirement-prompted nostalgia, I actually failed as a hater there too and completely missed his last match happening so like. arrived to dance on the grave a day late. BUT the djokovic/murray coaching news DID awaken something suppressed in me. I'll probably watch the 2012 uso final next just to feel something

anyway, what this does go to show is that for all that I am obviously extremely not a fan of the big three, as a tennis fan it's also not like I can pretend to be completely immune. I grew up watching them!! I remember watching so many of their matches! often with my family! I would argue about them all the time as a fan, whether with my family or people at the tennis club or indeed my maths teacher. I was always rooting for SOMEONE, like I did have an order of preference. and... uh, it should be mentioned that I am also not a complete neutral who just intellectually hated the big three because I thought they were shitty sources of narrative tension. I was a massive murray fan as a kid so I did also just get my heart repeatedly broken by them. we're talking 'cried during murray's speech at wimbledon 2012'... I actually watched the wimbledon 2013 final at the tennis club where I trained and was EXTREMELY smug (and delighted) when murray won because EVERYONE including my coach thought djokovic would win and had been extremely annoying in my direction throughout the experience. but also I have never enjoyed a men's australian open final in my life, except 2012 I suppose. that venue holds nothing but pain and misery for me

so with my biases stated up front, where the big 3/4 rivalries are concerned, I'm basically in the 'anybody but fedal' camp. that one I feel nothing for and its popularity continues to absolutely baffle me. no hate to anyone who enjoys it but I do treat its continued dominance basically like a psyop. idk who's responsible for this or why they're doing it, but SOMEBODY is pursuing some kind of nefarious agenda. call me casey stoner because I've cracked the code. I understand they're both individually rather popular and I suppose in a detached unemotional way I do get how that could happen, but as a unit? idk man. also, EYE am a rivalry enjoyer, but I get very suspicious when too many fans are an enjoyer of a particular rivalry... (or y'know, sometimes you've got rivalries that have a lot of 'theoretical fans' but you can kinda tell they do basically hate one of the competitors involved and will immediately throw them overboard if they have to take a side, which also passes the test.) just shows to me that there's zero edge there. most partisan fans of an athlete hate anyone who is a threat to their athlete, that's just how people are. if there's this little hate then that tells me that there's too little threat which tells me the stakes aren't quite there competitively or emotionally... which tells me that there's no real reason to care. I'm well aware that federer fans used to be more likely to be nadal haters back in the noughties (david foster wallace coming through for me again on that front) and that nadal fans are more into that rivalry than federer fans and that they're both retired now... but still!! if it was a proper fun rivalry, more partisan fans would still be bitter. fundamentally the rivalry is good for both of them in terms of legacy and pr and all that shit and they both clearly agree so it's just... empty

which yeah, so full agree on the stuff you say lol. I HAVE watched the wimbledon 2008 final (and I... think?? must have watched it at the time, I was still pretty young and clearly it wasn't a defining enough experience it stuck in my mind lol) but it's been years by now. so I can't actually reallyyyy speak to its quality and I'm probably not going to rewatch it any time soon. I do also just think it's the most boring match-up tennis-wise... partly this is because my favourite big three playstyle is djokovic's - I love how he moves around the court, I love the compact backhand and the emphasis on counterpunching... the nadal/federer match-up was mostly defined by federer attempting to figure out ways to prevent nadal from bullying his backhand. which I do know is oversimplifying things lol but it's. kinda true. djokovic/federer is the best match-up tennis-wise even if it's a bit one-sided in the biggest moments (which, whatever, that was narratively engaging too)... federer's full artistry against djokovic's precision was just more exciting to watch. then comes djokovic/nadal which is a bit of a counterpuncher-off, like they are quite tactically similar in a lot of ways, extremely optimised baseliners... but that means they were always going to push each other the furthest - they were already half a step ahead of federer in the evolution of tennis and everyone now is obviously basing their tennis primarily on how they changed the game. and, y'know, nadal's biggest rival is djokovic!! I get why if you're a nadal fan, you'd want it to be federer, but well! tough!

and YES yes I ABSOLUTELY agree that federer/djokovic is the most interesting interpersonally because federer was SO arrogant towards djokovic. the worst thing that happened to federer is that he became a pr merchant, like at least being a cunt was INTERESTING. he used to be absolutely dreadful about murray too!! aggressively unpleasant!! but that one was also frustrating because... murray didn't end up surpassing him... (I genuinely have like. traumatic flashbacks to watching their atp finals 2014 match. I don't think my soul ever quite recovered from that day.) but with djokovic!! people used to be so unpleasant about him - and okay, by now unfortunately he's given everyone plenty of cause, but BACK THEN it was a completely different story. it was so much fun rooting for him when the crowds were being horrid to him and he stuck it in their faces... before he did all the boob throwing business - staring icily at them when he beat their hero? hot

and federer was so so snide about the guy... pepperidge farm remembers when he accused teenage djokovic of faking his injuries in 2006

and like, on a moral level I do actually think this is pretty gross and have a massive bone to pick with federer on his whole 'look at me aren't I amazing for never retiring from a match' schtick, which continues to have lasting harmful consequences in this sport. this kind of record isn't heroic, it's just fucking stupid. but also, it's hardly the first time or the last time tennis players accused each other of playing up their injuries - it's very much part of the sport, we've all done it or at least thought it. I am also on the record as being pro beefing with children. and it's very strong set-up for that rivalry, especially given how bloody often djokovic went on to crush federer's spirit! it's better set-up than the payoff, quite frankly

that being said, perhaps my favourite match they played is us open 2011 semis - y'know, the match where djokovic saves two matchpoints in the fifth set en route to beating federer... oh, I suppose that doesn't completely narrow it down!!

'oh I'm above taking risks when I'm down on the scoreboard' says the man who ended up with one hell of a reputation for choking. it's also silly!! sometimes it's worth taking a swing at it!! also psychologically, because you're making things less complicated for yourself!! in individual matches, you won't necessarily be rewarded for your diligence and hard work, just not how anything works you moron. but y'know, this was the REAL federer. by the following year he'd already completely clamped down on this kind of thing and it felt like really djokovic could have also been WAY more bitter about this stuff than he publicly was... but yeah, this I did enjoy

and yeah, I do kinda see the vale/jorge comparison! like you say, federer is kinda... more arrogant, more contemptuous towards his younger rivals, also just more of a sore loser until pr got to him? tennis is infamous for its frosty handshakes, but you compare some of those with how warm valentino generally was when he lost... federer's problem was that he lacked self-awareness and was just so committed to this image of the gentleman's sport, which is why he ended up shying away from all this stuff. the unpleasantness with djokovic was actually like... still fairly late in the game, all things considered, it wasn't even really like 2011!federer to say stuff like that. which does show djokovic was capable of really really getting under his skin! and on djokovic's end, where the jorge comparison very much applies is how much he wanted the people to love him (ik his fans hate this narrative but like,, obviously he did). and how they had all already decided he was the enemy for beating their beloved federer and nadal. I do find it a bit easier to stomach with valentino because he deliberately plays with this stuff, weaponising the crowd and all that, whereas federer and nadal just pretend like it's not happening. (also morally it might be worse to boo at a motogp event because of the danger they're putting themselves in, but practically booing at a tennis match is far far worse - you can actually influence the competitors in a way you obviously cannot in motogp.) but that WAS one of the most interesting storylines in the big three era... djokovic slowly catching these two greats who were always so far ahead of them, however much people didn't want him to, even though he didn't have the love of the people on his side, and eventually managing to surpass them altogether. I do think there's plenty of interesting stuff there!! good groundwork! it's just... nowhere near enough, given how bloody long these guys ended up dominating

on djokovic/murray - MY favourite combination of guys as well, just in terms of how much I actually like both of them. it's an interesting relationship where it's like... they knew each other quite well when they were young, then inevitably grew apart a bit when they were competing for big titles? obviously they were also born exactly a week apart from each other, which is narratively fun. I suppose it's the equivalent to jorge/dani which... actually wait, no, I realise that would assign nadal to casey and certainly not my god. it's a rivalry that's a bit tough to stomach from a murray fan perspective because... I mean, it's not quite 'this is not a rivalry, they always kick our ass' territory... but when I started following tennis as a kid, it felt completely plausible that murray and djokovic would have similarly successful careers. which obviously. did not happen. still remember that kind of controversial 2015 australian open final -

- and, y'know, it's a bit frustrating!! this was the tone of a lot of that era, where you kinda just wanted to take them all aside and tell them. my god. maybe a little bit of feuding is okay, no? but well, it is what it is, mostly they had a good relationship. 2016 was kinda the best of times and worst of times because murray was pouring his heart and soul into scraping all of his potential out of himself, got another slam, year end #1 etc... but it also probably did end up fucking up his body permanently, in the quest to fight djokovic. and there IS something compelling and sad about that, but yeah. still a bit of an old wound as an actual sports fan lol

and yeah, they're two closely related playstyles!! counterpunchers with particularly excellent backhands - and if a wing falters, then it's the forehand. it was lendl coaching murray and getting him to properly go after his forehand, be aggressive enough off that wing, that got him his biggest successes. djokovic's weaknesses are less pronounced and especially these last few years, he's often been lethal as a serve + 1 forehand merchant. roland garros 2023 is a good example of that... murray was the tactician, generally thought a lot on court and had a lot in his arsenal - ofc most famously his excellent lob. djokovic does also have more to his game than just baseline pushing, even if sometimes that involves just spamming dropshots when he feels uneasy. obviously, as can be seen from the slam count, his game ended up being just a bit better... but, well, these are very fine margins. murray's slam count is deceptive, he really was the one guy who could consistently hang with those three year-in year-out. whatever revisionism people try to do now, it really was a big four era

as for the coaching relationship, I'm very curious!! coaching can take a lot of different forms and sometimes there's a bit of a distinction between the... bread and butter coaching, the people who are working with you day to day, and these more high profile gigs where sometimes it really is just localised to specific tournaments. it's all very individualised, depends on the specific demands of the player - obviously, given where djokovic is at in his career, you won't be seeing particularly major adjustments, like murray isn't going to come in and suddenly suggest djokovic revamps his serve, right. (though sometimes players still tinker with this stuff late into careers, especially if they're managing injuries.) given the particular stresses of playing in a match, what an odd experience that is in its own right, sometimes you do just need someone to be observing you, give your game a critical once-over from a little bit of distance. now, admittedly from what I've seen of djokovic's coaching relationships, I do feel like one of the coach's roles in THAT particular camp is also just 'being yelled at continuously during matches'. which...? a little curious if djokovic has that same tone when murray's standing there lmao. also one of the reasons for the yelling is when djokovic feels like he's not getting enough enthusiasm from his box. which... ... uh. I mean. murray wouldn't have been top on MY list for that particular metric. but he can get passionate at davis cup from what I've seen!! so maybe it'll work out

anyway yeah I'll cut it off there lol. obviously I spent half my childhood thinking about tennis and inevitably that involved a lot of thinking about the big four and that means I have a lot of thoughts on them so. basically it's fedole > rafole > fedal as far as I'm concerned. good luck to djokovic/murray in their endeavours, I will be there no matter what

anyways enough of that, i am really really sorry that you feel this way and i’m sad that you’re discontinuing kickoff, obviously for one, because i really would’ve loved to read everything else you had planned, but more so, because i can tell how much it means to you by the way it’s written and the way you’ve talked about it in previous posts and that you have to abandon it because of something so easily avoidable if people only read your rules, is, as i said, so unfair and sad. i’m really sorry. but i want you to know that your decision doesn’t mean that you’re not a strong person, because the decision to discontinue it, in order to prioritise yourself and state your boundaries once and for all is one that you have to be very strong to make and come to terms with.

writing is supposed to make you happy and be fun and your writing is ART. it’s so incredible and amazing because you put your heart into it, so if you feel bad about writing something, it’s a reasonable and understandable decision for you to not continue a story anymore, even if it’s a sad one.

i really hope that you don’t beat yourself up over it too much because like i said, these people hide behind anon and are clearly immature and even less empathetic than acid. there are so so many people that enjoy the way you write and are able to recognize that you’re a person with a life too and appreciate you for it. please take the time you need for yourself but don’t let them bring you down. you’re literally amazing and i hope that you feel better as soon as possible.

Okay, so I'd just like to start this off with, I really don't mean any ill intentions towards Miranda stans. I know most of you guys are fairly normal people who just have an obsession with her.

I will admit, yeah, I am being judgmental. I do find it weird when people absolutely glamorize Miranda and her relationship with MC, and that just fuels my hate for Miranda more. She's already a bad character (in the sense of actions; she's a fairly well written character in both RL and RE universes, and I always will admit when a character I don't like is still well-written), and the fact that the fandom kind of... doesn't accept that worsens it. Like, yeah. Most are like "she's so evil BUT she's my wife too" but then continue to ignore how evil she is!! She throws pens at MC!! I'm never getting over that I'm so sorry.

But. IF YOU GET WHAT I'M SAYING LIKE. Her evilness is never acknowledged properly, it's ignored, which leads to the romanticization of her and her route. Does this make sense??

When I see Miranda stans just absolutely adoring her, it does come off weird too. You say fiction isn't reality, but to see people cherish a toxic partner in media? It does come off weird. Like. If she wasn't even related to romance too (like if Miranda x MC didn't exist), wouldn't be as much of a problem. But she is. She's literally (and sadly) destined to be with MC, and people love that, they wish they were in a relationship with her too (FICTIONALLY. I KNOW ITS NOT IRL, BUT LIKE, YOU GET WHAT I MEAN??).

Obviously, not going to get into details, but I was in a toxic relationship before with someone who is literally a Miranda. And it does come off really weird to see people be literally in love with the idea of a relationship with her. I'm much more neutral on RE Miranda; that's just silly slander, Ethan's not trying to get with her. That's just a villain. But RL Miranda is quite literally just a toxic partner. I will go into a deep-dive one day about it, and I have to be honest, I do judge some Miranda fans for the things they say about her. I get y'all won't actually seek out a relationship with her in the real world but... fiction still DOES affect reality. And her glamorization of a toxic relationship and partner is very much present in this fandom and it will add onto my slander for her. I don't mean to actively hurt the feelings of any Miranda stans with my post; it's just me being a hater towards Miranda, and I don't want my ideals to be misinterpreted. I get how the caption for my last edit does that, I will admit that. But all my hatred is really just targeted at her.

So basically, no hate meant to Miranda fans, I get fiction isn't reality but it DOES affect it (I've spoke about this before with Donna), and I get you guys don't actually want a relationship with Miranda. Was never much of a fan of grumbo/mumscarian. BUT!!! This is because I’m MOSTLY LIFE SERIES VIEWER!!! I only casually enjoy hermitcraft and don’t watch it often. And I KNOW that’s where the ships come from, so all of the life series version of the ship just feels so forced. Which sucks cuz I do actually see some potential for it in like Last Life that would be a hilarious ship!! I definitely lean Grumbo because even in the life series you can see it, tho I see it mostly grian-sided with mumbo technically reciprocating it but not realizing how problematic it is to be dancing around the feelings in the middle of a death game. But that’s just me.

I USED TO BE A GRITHO HATER (but not a full on hater. Just the slightly negative feelings as portrayed here). I remember during limited life I kept seeing gritho stuff and I was like “it’s not gonna happen 🙄” then it happened and I was like 🤯 and bowed down to all the gritho shippers. I also had divine intervention in the form of a dream telling me to ship gritho and now I love them.

Flower husbands is a complicated one that is seen on many negative tiers and I will admit I don’t always like it. But sorry guys I like it just don’t watch Scott’s 3L otherwise you will be traumatized for life

Sorry for my response it's just that at the time that you sent that in I was dealing with so much bullshit from anons and they weren't leaving me alone so when I read that I was a bit like could this be another one of those bc they want me to leave or are they genuinely asking, so that's why I didn't really respond how I would to someone being rude to me, but I also didn't give you a response to your question bc I really didn't know how to feel, but thank you for coming back to clarify and now that I know that it's with no ill intention I will totally answer, hopefully it makes sense.

So my interest for F1 came very suddenly and in a very weird way that I'm embarrassed to even admit how lmao 😂 and it's something that has been gaining my attention more and more for example now I'm trying to learn more about the actual engines and the details of the cars (so if anyone has any tips or places I can go check out for that let me know) so it's constantly catching my attention in a way, and that's how something needs to be to continue being my fixation bc I have ADHD, and I've heard that this is kinda related to that apparently Idk, but so far I don't see my interest going away and I really hope it doesn't bc I want to experience a full season you know, which considering it will take months it really depends on how I can keep myself entertained until then.

But then there's other stuff that I'm still obsessed over but I guess I can't really call it an fixation anymore, for example, my fixation that lasted the longest and even when it got toned down I was still so obsessed and in love and now it's coming back, is hotd since the show came out I never once stopped looking at stuff about it specially Rhaenyra like when I tell you I am obsessed with that woman.

But then there's other fixations that I still have a huge love for but (and it honestly breaks my heart to say it) I don't focus on it as much and I can't explain why bc I still absolutely love it and that's Marvel.

So basically how long will it last?? It depends on how much content I can find to keep me entertained lol

Sam!! Hi :) sorry it’s been so long omg😭 again I didn’t mean to take so long in responding!! I fear this the longest time we’ve haven’t talked 😭 (idk if it is but it just FEELS it!) I really thought I would have more time/energy with life :(

I have so much explaining, not because I feel obligated! But because I want to share :) plus I miss rambling with my bestie 😭 though it’s long and complicated so I’ll try to trim it down lol

So omg the ER visit lol i actually started to feel bad while writing my “part two”, which is why I mentioned to just give me a few hours since I thought I needed a small break. I was wrong clearly lol and you’re so right I am wayyy to casual about it because I get in my head so bad I lowkey shut down in certain situations lol this was one of them plus I was home alone and I can’t afford paying for a fucking ambulance 😭(btw I want to make it clear I’m lucky to still be able to receive care and I would never want to come off as inconsiderate!) anyways thankfully my mom came home and took me because one of my pupils was extremely dilated 😀 lowkey losing my mind that day before my first day of my job this happens lol but don’t worry! I’m getting help from some specialists, it’s just taking a while!

Now my first day lol I got out at 2 am from the ER and I had work at 9… I was on time lol but to sum it up these past few weeks it has been shit lol the kids my god!! According to my higher ups I got a really difficult group and not because they are too crazy or anything! They give me absolutely fucking NOTHING to work with!! All they give me is blank stares and don’t talk like at all! Not even to eachother😭 And i think i mentioned they had to do a research project and girl they did everything last minute the day before it was due! And my higher ups were genuinely trying to help me the most with my group because they also give nothing to them! And it sucks because i genuinely was trying to help them by providing so many resources for them :( plus i felt like sometimes i was talking just to talk. towards the end i lowkey was giving tough love and it pained me :( but there’s only so much i can do😭 the one time where I WANT people to use me😭 anyways we are stuck together for the next year and a half so im determined to get something lol

Now my coworkers… Sam i hate these people 😭 now irl im not this angry/mean person! Even if i dont like the someone, if i genuinely have to interact with them i still try to engage as nice as possible. However these girls are just so fucking entitled! First day they singled out me and this other girl( I at least like her lol)! They wouldn’t let us give our input and if we did we were ignored or they wouldn’t let us steal our ideas! And I gave them multiple chances but honestly fuck them :) and guess what! 2 AM AND WORK AT 9 YOU'RE A QUEEN

KIDS ARE THE WORST. That sounds very much like my first week of school and very much like my high schoolers. It's REALLY hard to get them to interact with you at first. I'm not preaching to know more than anyone, I've just noticed it's difficult in this era of high schoolers 🙃 Please ignore me if I'm overstepping, I just have some ideas if you want them--relationship building is like SUPER important. I give them like four million questions to get to know them. Try to find something to talk about with them. I make fun of myself a LOT. I sound stupid--I can't tell you how many times I said "do you see how I'm showing my work to do this problem? Very cutesy, very demure" last september. It honestly might take time and you very well might not get to everyone. There are some kids I love to work with and some I just know is going to be painful and pulling teeth to get to know them. I also let them know how ridiculous they sound. For example.

Me: Good morning, did we all have a nice weekend? Them: Meh Me: anyone do anything? Them: 🦗 Me: So we all just stared at the ceiling for 60 hours? Excellent. Nothing to talk about guess we'll just start doing math at 8 AM in the morning rather than bond.

Typically I find this works a little more. Idk if this is a special group that like only meets X-number of times or something but they might be getting used to each other too.

OMG THE LAST MINUTE THING IS CRAZY. I GO INSANE ALL THE TIME 👹👹👹 THEY'RE CRAZZZYYYYY and yes, the whole giving them resources and them NOT using it is so infuriating. I feel like I've lowered my expectations in a way over the years. I provide them with everything they need, I tell them where it is, I offer to help them, and then when they don't listen to me, I say "maybe you should try doing what I suggested in the first place" It takes some getting used to. That's nice your higher ups were helping!!! Tough love is important. There is only so much you can do!!! You will get through to some of them, I'm sure!!! You're new at this too!

I finally read the last book between the last time we talked!!!! It was SO cute 😭 it didn't have the typical plotline of her other books in a good way! I really ended up liking it, I was very pleased 💕 he would be a good substitute hockey bf, truly. Their story was adorable and I loved it SOOO much. I am currently reading Big Little Lies. I saw a lot of good things about the show--I'm not very far in but I'm looking forward to it! No new bfs

July has been okay. I had a rough day yesterday actually but overall, it's been alright. Summer school has two weeks left but I have a weeklong seminar thing I have to do so I really only have one week left 🤭 it's been calm honestly. I'm grateful for that.

I’ve always related to Will Solace. No, I didn’t choose my name to match him, it was a coincidence. Two queer boys who both act like everything is fine, like they can handle one more insult, one more dying patient, one more crack to their mental state.

But like him… my filter is wearing thin. I’m getting more and more defensive. I’m tense at home. My shitty brother and the weight of my parents possible divorce isn’t helping. I sit and I laugh with my friends like everything is okay, because hey- their lives are shit too! I don’t need to dump my issues on them. But those people I’m not super close with- I can feel my patience wearing thin. And even the ones that are are starting to get on my nerves. But it isn’t their fault. It’s mine.

because I’ve always hid. I’ve always hid behind my sunny demeanor, so the don’t KNOW how my mind works. Me and who used to be my closest friend just had a ‘play’ argument over if a certain band could be classified as emo. I got really annoyed and she said ‘sheesh no need to get so defensive lil bro’.
