I am once again dwelling in the disappointment of modern cop shows not taking after Adam-12 enough and therefore further encouraging hundreds of real life officers to want to play power tripping cowboy more than they want to simply help people. To serve and protect. I should rewatch the whole show for the express purpose of tallying things up by comparison. It would be very, "Jim Reed shown drawing his gun 7 times. Jim Reed shown filing a report 6,509,238 times." "Pete Malloy in a foot chase 14 times. Pete Malloy helping citizens do mundane things ∞ times."

I like how all the Mark VII Limited shows (Emergency, Dragnet, Adam 12) take place in the same universe, but there’s like one episode of Emergency where the characters are watching Adam 12? There’s only one possible explanation: The Dimensional Merge happened in the Mark VII Limited Cinematic Universe. (MVLCU)

Casual binging Adam 12 does so much to enhance the character development you only get little glimpses of per episode tbh. S1 Pete trying hard not to settle down, while Jim keeps talking about how he's painting different rooms in his house and preparing for baby - fantastic.
This show is entirely bare bones on anything not the officers' work, but somehow they still managed to give us more compelling character arcs (Pete from jaded despondency to fulfilled contentment, and Jim from naive and scared to competent and assured) than many shows that focused on the character drama every other episode.
