I really love how Daniel Sunjata plays Karadec, portraying him as empathetic and kind, but in a quiet, serious way. He believes in what he’s doing, but the job has worn him down.

It makes his dynamic with Morgan really appealing, bc you get the sense she’s the first person to make him smile in a very long time. (And she’s not even really trying! She’s just joking like she always does. There’s just something in Morgan that reaches Karadec in a way no one else can.)

I feel like their partnership is going to grow in this way, and it’ll be super interesting to watch. Especially how they have a dangerous job, and part of Karadec’s role is to protect his consultant, bc she doesn’t have police training. A “It’s my job to protect you” combined with “If I lose you, I’ll lose the light you’ve brought into my world” mindset is one of my fav ship dynamics.

1x10 – Chutes and Murders thoughts

A creepy guy (aka Chuck) hangs around the children’s park and not one person thought to report that?

A PI who dresses like that and reads French newspapers has read one too many noir detective novels!

The fact that Chuck accidentally shot himself in the foot was hilarious! As was him thinking Karadec got married to Morgan!

He’s a fun nod to the French origins of the show. I hope he appears again.

I’m not sure if that poetry reading was poetry or a form of torture… I’m going with torture.

Gotta love it when people say “I know who killed X” but never actually go to the police because they know they don’t actually know anything.

I wasn’t surprised the murderer was another nanny.

OZ doesn’t know the Spice Girls?! That genuinely made me feel old. And broke my heart at the same time.

Elsewhere, Elliot didn’t get invited to a class birthday party. I feel you as someone who has been on the receiving end of this situation. It sucks. I enjoyed Morgan telling off that brat Finn. He needed it.

Not the most complicated plot. It was fun but honestly I enjoyed the subplot of Morgan, Ava and Elliot and how they were used as a mirror for the nannies and their cliques.

I love that this show never forgets Morgan’s number one job is mom. All her scenes with her kids are heartwarming. I like the balance the show has struck between cases and home life. It’s a great mix.

Rewatching High Potential s1 because it is a not-guilty pleasure of mine. It just balances the tone really well and doesn't depress me. I also LOVE MORGAN SO MUCH. And Morgan x Karadec and is already an otp and I need to know what happened to Morgan's missing husband. (Roman, was it? I don't remember).

It's showing reruns on tv before the new season in the fall. And so I'm watching it on Hulu so I can start at the beginning.

Also, Karadec feels autistic to me for really no reason but a lot of characters do because I'M autistic.

Honestly, I am cannot wait for when High Potential does a "My partner got kidnapped!" episode, because it is going to be an absolutely insane time.

If Morgan is Kidnapped:

Level-headed Karadec losing every last bit of calm and control as he becomes desperate to find her.

Morgan being called Karadec's "weakness"/Karadec being told caring for Morgan makes him "vulnerable".

Karadec immediately developing the world's largest guilt complex bc protecting Morgan is HIS responsibility. Bonus if the kidnapper is someone from Karadec's past seeking revenge, who purposefully targeted Morgan to hurt him.

If Karadec is Kidnapped:

Oh, you thought Morgan was chaotic BEFORE? Now she's essentially a hurricane compressed into a laser, pointed at one thing only - getting Karadec back. She is going to hit you harder than anything you ever thought possible (figuratively and literally).

Soto sending Morgan home (with police protection) bc she doesn't want Morgan to get kidnapped too. so Morgan privately investigates Karadec's disappearance, without the police knowing.

Morgan figuring out where Karadec is, arriving first on the scene, and refusing to wait for back-up before running in to try and save Karadec.

Bonus Tropes for Either Scenario:

Being used as bait to lure in the other. And the other knowing they're walking into a trap but doing it anyway.

Kidnapper massively underestimating Morgan, whether she's the hostage or the rescuer. The kidnapper thinks she's just Karadec's pretty partner that occasionally makes observations or spouts facts, rather than seeing the fully intelligent, cunning, and tough as nails person she is.

The person kidnapped being certain their partner will find them.

Soto's blood pressure spiking through the roof.

Sometimes a crime fighting duo is an autistic highly intelligent single mom and a grumpy textbook OCD detective.

Karadec: Oh look, we're under a mistletoe.

Morgan: *looks up* Karadec, thats not a mistletoe. That’s a holly. They are frequently mistaken for each other. Mistletoe is a parasitic plant with white berries and smooth leaves, while holly is an independent shrub or tree with spiky leaves and red berries. So yep, that’s a holly. Not a mistletoe.

(Later that night)

peak television is when a detective comedy does a serial killer/kidnapper storyline that spans across multiple episodes throughout multiple seasons where the perp is fixated on the happy-go-lucky protagonist and things get serious™ and the comedy is toned down and it's soooo good

bonus points if they're a sherlock holmes adaptation
