Inca past and symbolism in 18th century Saint-Domingue (part I)

One of the most peculiar developments near the end of the Haitian Revolution was the adoption of the name Inca and children of the Sun by Jean-Jacques Dessalines. According to historian Thomas Madiou, Dessalines began using the name by the autumn of 1802, referring to those who submitted to him in opposition to the forces of Leclerc (Madiou 451). However, Dessalines dropped the Inca name after July 1803, when he began to refer to his forces as Armée Indigène, asserting indigeneity in opposition to the French (Geggus 52). Although a number of observers and historians have commented on this “Inca Episode” in the history of the Indigenous Army, contextualizing it within the broader context of nationalist struggles in the Americas demonstrates the power of Inca symbolism across much of the Americas, extending even into the Caribbean. Rebecca Earle’s The Return of the Native: Indians and Myth-Making in Spanish America, 1810–1930 provides a context for understanding the appeal of the Inca to the Haitian independence movement. Thus, this brief post will endeavor to elucidate the origins of Inca symbolism and its appeal to the people of Saint Domingue in the 18th century, and connect it to the independence movement that led to independence in 1804. By the conclusion, hopefully Antillean “Incas” will seem less aberrant or surprising.

Mad Science has a young scientist fall into a mysterious substance and mutate irreversibly. Doc finds family like him, but theyre wiped out in an incident where xhes the sole survivor, and in xir desperation to get his family back she makes a deal with a malevolent entity who will manipulate and backstab her for his own gain.

Worldstop IS a horror for Player and Malcom. its about control and identity and possession and loss of self, and being put in the body you unknowingly wronged as punishment / having your sense of control and personhood stripped away from you to the point that people are meeting the thing puppeting you before they even know you exist, and to you, hes from a whole new layer of reality above yours that can bend the world to his whim. you can never escape a bored god.

The Administrative Timeline is also a horror for everyone involved. Freeman gets his personality, memories, history, all stripped away all because one man didnt care. all of the admins lives were completely derailed because of C's father. Freeman can never truly return to who he once was and Admin C shoulders the guilt, even if its not his fault at all.

JOHN AND JANE DOE . in my version/interp i like to think theyre more robotic than they are an actual robloxian but still have some sort of sentience/consciousness ( dont ask how:P) theyre 'modelled' like crash test dummies because they were created back in the Earlier days of testing and were used for such , but since then theyve kinda just been stored away so builderman decided to repurpose them a lil . they would join games to observe robloxians (mainly to help monitor them) and could also help/guide/answer other robloxians' questions n such

the march 18th/hacker rumors were caused by an anonymous hacker hijacking john nd jane doe using them to threaten robloxians (but it was simply js for trolling purposes) . though it was quickly resolved by builderman and he had decided to just withdraw both Doe's from their monitoring role . In present time both of them r still around but mostly r just helping within the hq itself (stuff like keeping track of accounts n bla bla )

the server loves him, crops grow faster when he plants them, mobs drop more loot when he kills them, it's willing to hide him when he needs (suppressing particles and thickening fog for everyone else). it's subtle, not enough that anyone would notice if they weren't really looking for it but it's there.

when dream is connected to the server it thrives, the weather is nice and storms pass easily, the grass is greener, peaceful mobs spawn more, resources are plentiful. but after dream is put away, the air goes stale and the weather turns perpetually grey, peaceful mobs are more skittish and spawn less and it takes more resources to breed them, hostile mobs spawn more and due to the cloudy skies are less likely to burn.

the server dies as dream is away from it (locked in an obsidian box) but it's slow. when dream gets out it pours for days, soaking through clothes in an instant and leaving a chill in the air. after the nuke, it becomes a husk. nothing lives on the server, its stagnant and empty

in an au where dream takes time to heal: the server heals with him, its weakened from the egg and lack of connection to its creator, but it heals. the sun peaks through the clouds for the first time in ages and crops start to grow again. there's a warmth to the breeze and birdsong fills the air.

after the nuke the server starts fresh. the souls of its players kept safe in its code until the land is ready. it respawns them when the time is right, and with the last of its energy fills the players with hope and love. sending a whispered breeze across its admin's cheek as a final goodbye.
