Dopo tanto tempo d’inattività, ho deciso di riprendere questa pagina. E per tastare il terreno lo voglio fare parlandovi del “nuovo” linguaggio delle serie TV. Prendo come “paziente zero” una serie televisiva di inizio secolo: “Six Feet Under”, che meglio rappresenta il nuovo corso della serie televisiva, denominato “la nuova era d’oro della Tv americana”, che poi come vedremo si estenderà in Europa e in altri paesi del mondo. Episodio pilota: Breve storia da “Telefilm” a serie televisiva e struttura narrativa. L’attenzione degli autori, dei registi e dei produttori cinematografici, nei confronti del format televisivo, ha permesso a quest’ultimo di evolversi e di avvicinarsi oggi, sempre di più, al linguaggio cinematografico. Quelli che una volta erano chiamati “Telefilm” oggi sono le “Serie Tv”. Dov’è la differenza? Prima di tutto nella struttura narrativa. Nei vecchi Telefilm, essa era costituita essenzialmente dalla cosiddetta “trama orizzontale”, ovvero da una scrittura che prevedeva il minor minutaggio possibile nel rappresentare la causa, lo svolgimento/evoluzione e la risoluzione dei fatti, come nel caro “vecchio” e sempreverde Paradigma di Syd Field. Quindi il tutto nasceva e moriva all’interno del singolo episodio, non c’era nessun concept narrativo volto a fidelizzare “il pubblico da casa”, che poi come vedremo diventerà spettatore in senso cinematografico. Per merito di David Lynch, autore e regista cinematografico “prestato” alla televisione, con “Twin Peaks” avviene la prima interazione tra “trama orizzontale” e “trama verticale”. Per problemi strettamente legati alla produzione, su questi termini “Twin Peaks” subisce un arresto, Lynch lascia momentaneamente il progetto e la serie assume tutti i connotati del vecchio “Telefilm”. Dove non è riuscita ad arrivare “Twin Peaks” ci è arrivata “Six Feet Under” “Six Feet Under” è una serie ideata da Alan Ball, (autore, produttore teatrale e cinematografico, co-sceneggiatore per “American Beauty” di Sam Mendes), prodotta dalla HBO dal 2001 al 2005 per un totale di cinque stagioni. È il dramma di una famiglia che gestisce un’impresa di pompe funebri, vittima della morte stessa, ma soprattutto della vita. È proprio in questa premessa che trova sfogo la struttura narrativa di cui vi ho parlato: la trama orizzontale è costituita dalla caratterizzazione dei personaggi secondari, il più delle volte terziari, che sono rappresentati dai decessi all’inizio di ogni episodio e che durante l’arco narrativo dello stesso, a loro volta caratterizzano i protagonisti di tutta la serie. In questo modo si sviluppa la “trama verticale” che è il concept fulcro della serie. Ecco la novità di “Six Feet Under”: l’interazione tra “trama orizzontale” e “trama verticale”, che caratterizzerà le successive serie come “Lost” e “Breaking Bad”,quest’ultima vero e proprio dispiego della tecnica cinematografica a servizio del “format televisivo”. Questo “episodio pilota” termina qui. Nei prossimi giorni vi parlerò delle tecniche di ripresa (video, audio e montaggio) nelle serie televisive, prendendo come riferimento “Six Feet Under”, “Lost” e “Breaking Bad”. Daniele Pieri
