🕵️️ Alice’s Guide to Not Accidentally Becoming a Plagiarizing Pirate! 🏴‍☠️📖
By Alice Hi friends! It’s me, Alice, your favorite rule-following explorer of snacks and stories. And today… I’m here to tell you something VERY serious: Plagiarism is a no-no. ❌ Like, a GIANT glittery NOPE. But don’t worry! Thanks to Big Sister Ariel (a.k.a. The Citation Queen 👑), I now know how to be an honest researcher, a super citer, and a respectful borrower of brainy brilliance. So…

as someone who was a theatre kid (still kind of am) I wanna do headcanons of you dragging the LIs into high school theatre
(apologies I tried to keep these generic as possible but some may require more knowledge of the plays referenced, especially Sylus’s)
Xavier
You tell him you’re going to audition for Alice in Wonderland, but you’re nervous and ask Xavier to do it with you
But Xavier cannot act for the life of him, so he offers to join with backstage stuff instead, which you reluctantly agree to (you definitely wanted to see him as the rabbit)
Obviously, he has no experience with stage managing, run crew, or anything like that, but he quickly figures out lighting design
While he can’t be on stage with you, he loves being able to put you in the spotlight you deserves, and it’s comforted knowing he’s watching and helping you
To your dismay and Xavier’s amusement, you got the Rabbit instead and he gets to watch you hop around the stage from the tech booth
Zayne
Theatre was not at all on Zayne’s radar until you pleaded with him to do Frozen with you
He eventually caves, but he doesn’t put too much effort into the audition. He’s too focused on being there to support you to worry about his own performance
He’s put in Ensemble so he has no lines as a party guest in the beginning and maybe one line as a troll later on
This works just as well for him since he dedicates too much time to his assignments to learn lines
When show time finally roles around though Zayne enjoys watching you perform, and if he’s not in the scene with you he’s definitely admiring from the wings
You got Anna so if Zayne is tearing up when she gets frozen and glaring at the poor kid playing Hans, that’s between him and the curtains
Rafayel
When you asked Rafayel to audition for Aladdin with you, he was not at all into it…at first
You go to the auditions and he can sing damn good, so the director casts him as Aladdin and you manage to get Jasmine
Now very enthusiastic, he puts his all into this show. He has all of his lines memorized by 2 weeks and is working well with the rest of the cast
The show flys by and Rafayel is waiting to ask you to audition for The Little Mermaid with him (obviously hoping for another showmance as Ariel and Eric)
Unfortunately, you’re too busy though so he drops it. He had lots of fun, but he’s only interested if it’s with you (much to the disappointment of the director)
Sylus
You recruit Luke and Kieran to help convince Sylus to audition for Little Shop of Horrors with you
He is having NONE of it. He is avoiding you like the plague until auditions time is over. But just on the last day you find him and he gives in
You were praying for him to get the dentist, but much to Sylus’s relief he gets Audrey II so he doesn’t have to actually be on stage
Youre cast as original, human Audrey, so Sylus is left to watch as you get dragged by the dentist boyfriend and as you pretend to swoon over Seymour. It’s torturous.
He’s not the only one working the Audrey II puppet, but he’s always on the other side to steady you after she gets eaten by the plant. It might just be your imagination, but it sounds like there’s a thud every time after Seymour is eaten. And the eating of the dentist’s body parts always sounds very aggressive.
Caleb
You and Caleb are walking to class when you see the auditions poster for Peter Pan and both of you are immediately for it
Caleb is giddy going to the auditions already fantasizing about him and you playing Peter and Wendy together
But things never quite go to plan. He gets cast as Peter, but you end up with Captain Hook.
He is beyond disappointed at first, but after sulking for a bit he grows to appreciate it. The two of you goof off a lot during their sword fights, which frustrates the director to no end.
After closing night, you ask if Caleb wants to do the next play. He says he’ll think about it, but he doesn’t want to take the risk. He couldn’t stand it if you got a romantic part with another guy, and having to act with the Wendy actress was torture when all he could think of was how it could’ve been you.

Feminine Plots
Okay, I've been thinking A Lot about basic plot types and how classically feminine stories fit into neither the traditional (masculine) archetypes nor the traditional plots. After a lot of studying the major plot beats, I think all female-led stories* fall into one of seven plots. I'm using Disney movies to demonstrate this because just about everyone has seen them, but I think you could apply these to just about any feminine-based story.*
So, without further ado:
The Hard Work Plot: The heroine of this story is a hard worker and is tested by the plot to prove her kindness and generosity. If she passes the test, she wins and is rewarded for it. This is the basic plot of Snow White, Cinderella, and Tiana/Princess and the Frog.**
The Beast Taming Plot: The heroine of this story is put in a situation where she meets a monster, learns to understand it (usually through a heightened state of empathy), and then tames it to become socially acceptable for the norms of society, often ending the story by using the tamed monster to defeat a more villainous character who has been accepted by society. This is the plot of Belle/Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Jane/Tarzan, and Lilo/Lilo & Stitch.
The Transformstion Plot: The heroine meets an outsider who is threatening her home/family/people, who are stagnating or stifling. She spends time getting to know the person and their culture, and then uses her friendship to transform her own culture into one of flourishing modernity. This is the plot of Ariel/The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, and Jasmine/Aladdin.
The Restoration Plot: The heroine is in a kingdom/household of dwindling power. Her quest is to restore the damaged relationships and undo the evil that caused the kingdom to dwindle. There's a very high chance that the heroine doesn't actually do the restoration herself, rather she makes other characters realize they have responsibilities and duties they haven't fulfilled, who then fix the problem instead of the actual female lead. This is Aurora/Sleeping Beauty, Elsa/Frozen, Mirabel/Encanto, and Nala/The Lion King.
The Balancing Plot: The heroine is proven to be unfit for feminine life and goes on a journey to prove she is capable of fitting in with the guys, only to realize that what she needs to restore peace and joy to her home/kingdom is the very feminity that she rejected. This is Mulan and Merida/Brave.
The Maturing Plot: The heroine is a naive individual who is exposed to the big bad world. Her idealism transforms the big bad world to be softer, but she also realizes there are bad things out there and that are/will take advantage of her if she lets it. In the end, she usually has to fight the bad guy/embrace her duties and responsibilities to save her home. This is Alice/in Wonderland, Wendy/Peter Pan, Giselle/Enchanted, and Rapunzel/Tangled.
The Sacrifice Plot: The heroine has a group that she is some sort of caretaker for (a princess, a lover, a support class). She does something, usually accidentally, that causes her friends to end up in danger, and she has to sacrifice herself to make up for those wrongs and save her people, usually ending up coming back to life because the other leads are so inspired and love her so much they make sure to save her. This is Tinkerbell/Peter Pan, Meg/Hercules, Esmeralda/Hunchback of Notre Dame, Kida/Atlantis, Anna/Frozen.***
EDIT: After workshopping this, I've decided I was missing one which seems almost exclusive to mothers and wives:
The Witnessing: The heroine must prepare another to become a Sacrifice/go to war/fight without her interference, and she has to let go and let them take on the trials of the world. Her plot arc succeeds when the people she's equipped successfully encounter the world without her guidance. This is Mrs. Potts/Beauty, Grandma Tala and Sina (the mom)/Moana, and Grandma Fa/Mulan. It's rare, so there's not a lot of these are protagonists, but it is a legitimate feminine archetype.
Star explanations under the cut.
*I'm being very specific here and talking about stories that are associated with the feminine, not stories that are traditionally associated with males who have then taken on female leads. And, while you can look at these as entire plots, these are also applicable as character arcs. The Lion King, told from Simba's perspective is the classic Call to Adventure. However, from Nala's perspective, she is the Restorer who, after watching her kingdom fall to ruin, has to go find the proper authority, mend his relationship with his father, and then return him to the kingdom to fulfill his responsibilities. While some more modern stories have female leads that don't fit these categories, I would argue they're not trying to appeal to women, but to a general audience and just happen to have a female protagonist, who could easily be swapped out for a male protagonist without changing anything of the story (and that, imo, makes for a very bad story indeed).
**There is a secondary dimension in these stories, which is the staticness or dynamicness of the characters. The classical Hero's Journey features a dynamic protagonist, who is expected to change throughout the run of a story. However, in most female-led media, the lead character is already virtuous and good. She is a static character that is then tested to see if she will fold under pressure. Snow White and Princess and the Frog both feature Hard Work narratives; however, Snow White is a static character who has to prove through a series of trials that she's good hearted and the world won't turn her cynical, while Tiana is a dynamic character who has to grow from cynicism to accept love as a virtue. While it is more traditional of older stories like Grimms' Fairy Tales, the Arthurian mythos, or Classic-era novels, static protagonists have almost entirely died out in favor of the Hero's Journey dynamicness. However, it remains a staple in Feminine Stories, even in modern stories: Moana, Anna/Tangled, Lilo/Lilo & Stitch.
***The Sacrifice Plot is a little odd, because there's usually another plot on top of it; Anna has a (slight) Maturing Plot, Meg has a Balancing Plot, Kida has a Restoration Plot. However, in the end, it's not a philosophical shift that defines their character, but their willingness to sacrifice for those they love. Yes, Anna was duped by Hans and has to accept he's not the good guy. However, she still falls in love with a man she just met (just a different one) and her narrative is instead trying to fix the problem she made when she upset her sister and her climax is when she essentially dies for Elsa, who then saves her with their sisterly love.

pepper & felix
part four
Felix has a lot on his mind.
MASTERPOST word count: 3.2k
“Hey, Felix, are you even listening?”
A hand waved in front of Felix’s face, jerking him back to reality.
His three friends stared at him, the four of them seated in a booth of a local restaurant. Felix blinked several times, momentarily shoving away the uncomfortable memory of a tiny heartbeat thudding against his finger.
“Yeah, yeah, sorry. I just zoned out for a sec.” He forced himself to laugh, beginning to pick absentmindedly at his food. The cozy setting of the restaurant helped to ease his stress somewhat, but his stomach still continued to squirm.
His friend that had addressed him— Alice— just snickered and said, “Honestly, Felix, you’ve been acting so weird lately.” Her dark eyelashes fluttered in amusement, peering at him from across the booth.
To Felix’s left, Breanna nodded, a finger twirling one of her long dark braids. “Yeah. What’s going on with you?”
As three pairs of eyes stared at him, Felix chewed his lip. “Um…”
He hadn’t told anyone about Pepper, aside from his soulmate, who had seemed to be just as shocked as he was to learn about the existence of tiny men living in the walls. His soulmate was actually the one to suggest that Felix keep his discovery a secret.
As much as he longed to tell his friends about that crazy incident three days ago, he didn’t want to sound completely insane. Honestly, he was wondering if he had imagined the whole thing.
“He’s probably just worried about The Little Mermaid auditions,” Owen suggested, giving Felix a toothy smile from across the table. “He really wants to be Prince Eric.” He raised his voice in a mocking royal tone, lifting a finger.
(Owen didn’t do theater, unlike Felix, Alice, and Breanna. He just liked hanging out with them.)
Felix exhaled. “Yeah, that’s exactly it,” he lied, grateful to have an excuse for his distant behavior. “I’m super nervous. I’d really like to get a lead.”
“Same,” Breanna and Alice said in unison.
“I’ve been practicing, like, every day,” Breanna admitted, resting her chin in her palm. “I think I’m gonna go for Ursula.”
The three others voiced their approval. Alice then began to rant about “that bitch in Music II that just wants to be Ariel so bad” and Felix took the opportunity to zone out again, thinking about a tiny man sprinting across his counter, holding a piece of spinach.
He frowned suddenly. Had Pepper been stealing the spinach for food? Had Felix interrupted him and forced him to go hungry? Was he okay?
“Felix,” Alice said, turning towards him so quickly that her silky black hair audibly whipped. “You are literally staring at the wall.”
“Oh, uh—“ Felix blinked several times, face going pink. “Sorry. Ugh. Just thinking.”
His friends laughed, and Felix ran his hands anxiously through his blonde hair, trying to ground himself in reality.
“Hey— what audition song are you using?” Breanna asked, her brown eyes dark and kind as they searched Felix’s face. Felix appreciated her immensely; she never made fun of him and always seemed to notice when he was uneasy.
“I haven’t decided yet,” Felix murmured, glancing at her. “Something from Beauty and the Beast, maybe. I dunno.”
“I’m using Beauty and the Beast, too,” Alice chirped. “My soulmate actually suggested it.”
That caught Felix’s attention. “Wait— you’re talking to your soulmate, now, too?”
Alice’s eyebrows raised, and she sighed dramatically. “Dude, I just said that, like, ten minutes ago. Have you really not been listening this whole time?” Breanna and Owen nodded.
He flushed. “Oh, shit, I’m sorry. Um— when did you start talking? Tell me again.”
Alice, of course, was thrilled to tell the same story twice. She immediately leaned closer, as if she was telling the three of them a secret. “He turned twenty-one yesterday,” she explained, lips twitching into a smile, “and we literally talked all night. He’s so sweet, and smart, and funny. Like, it was love at first sight.”
“I’m pretty sure that’s just how soulmates work,” Owen teased. Alice gently punched him.
“Shut up. Anyways, I just knew he was the one for me the second I heard his voice.”
Felix offered a smile, but her words sent an uncomfortable feeling into his stomach.
“You’ve been talking to your soulmate too— right, Felix?” Alice continued, tilting her head. “How’s that going?”
Ugh. Felix stalled by taking a sip of his water, then cleared his throat. “He seems a little shy,” he admitted. “I… I don’t really understand him yet, I guess.”
“What do you mean?” Breanna asked curiously.
Felix chewed his lip, thinking. “Um… I mean, I like him. He seems nice. But sometimes he’ll just cut our conversations off without any warning. And he never really talks about himself? He just asks me questions, mainly.”
He rested his chin on his hands, dropping his gaze. “We also haven’t really talked in a few days,” he mumbled. “We just… had a weird conversation, and he stopped reaching out.”
“I’ve heard of this happening,” Owen said thoughtfully, running his fingers through his red hair. “It’s actually pretty common to not get along with your soulmate right away. My older brother hated his soulmate for a few months before they actually got to know each other.”
“That’s comforting,” Felix said darkly.
“I’m sure you’ll work things out,” Breanna offered, and Alice nodded supportingly. “It just takes time.”
“Yeah,” Felix agreed, although his mind was starting to drift again. “I’m sure.”
Felix felt self-conscious.
His gaze wandered around the walls of his apartment. He was currently sitting on the floor, legs crossed underneath him, and quietly singing along to a song playing from his laptop. This was normal for him, typically. When an audition or a performance was coming around, he spent a lot of his time sitting in his apartment, practicing.
However— the knowledge that someone could be sitting in the walls, watching him right now, made him incredibly uneasy.
He hadn’t seen any sign of Pepper in the last three days, and he hoped that he hadn’t scared the little guy off permanently. Pepper had seemed absolutely terrified after their encounter.
His stomach twisted in regret, and his voice wobbled. If he could go back in time, he would change how he had treated Pepper in a heartbeat. Thinking of that tear-filled gray gaze staring up at him from beneath a cup just made him want to throw up.
God, I was such an asshole. He closed his eyes, steadying his breathing for a moment. When he held Pepper, he could feel his kicks and punches and struggles, but he had barely even acknowledged it. He had an entire person in his hand and he had completely ignored their fear.
Felix felt sick.
The song ended, but he had stopped singing along a few minutes ago. He leaned back dejectedly against the seat of the couch.
“You sound pretty.”
Felix nearly jumped out of his skin. He sat up straight, immediately freezing.
There, at the base of a bookshelf, was Pepper. Down on the floor, only a few feet away from Felix, Pepper seemed smaller than ever. He wore a tiny blue jacket that somehow seemed baggy on him, his sleeved arms folded in front of his small chest. A pair of tiny gray eyes were locked on Felix.
Felix was immediately hit with an onslaught of emotions; he was relieved to see Pepper again, but his heart was already thudding with guilt, remembering how easily he had trapped such a tiny being against his will. He felt incredibly uncomfortable to see Pepper standing on the floor, his neck craning to look up at Felix, who was also sitting on the floor.
“I said you sound pretty,” Pepper repeated. Despite his casual demeanor, there was a significant caution in the way he lingered by the wall, as if he was ready to bolt at any moment.
Felix blinked, muscles tense. “Oh– thank you. I, um… I didn’t know you were listening.” He held his breath, as if Pepper might bolt at the drop of a pin.
Those tiny shoulders shrugged. “I just overheard you, and I figured I’d stop by.” After a moment, he added, “Besides, I wanted to come and thank you.”
Felix did a double take. “Wait, what?”
“For letting me go,” Pepper explained, as if this was a normal Tuesday for him. “And you didn’t kill me or keep me, which is pretty typical for humans. And you didn’t go searching for me afterwards, even though it’s been three days. So… thanks for all that.”
Felix’s heart sank, while an uneasy feeling itched at his skin. Is that really what Pepper had expected from him? Being killed, or tormented? The thought of hurting Pepper any more than he already did made him feel sick to his stomach. He couldn’t explain why, but he needed Pepper to understand that he wasn’t any of those things he had described.
“Pepper…” His voice was hollow. He leaned forward, heart twisting at the sight of Pepper taking a small step back. “Pepper, you don’t need to thank me. I should be apologizing. You didn’t deserve to be grabbed, or– or trapped like that. I’m sorry. I really, really am.”
The borrower frowned for a moment, inquisitive. Then, quietly, “You just did what any human would do.”
Felix’s stomach turned. “That doesn’t make it okay. I still could have hurt you.”
Pepper remained suspiciously quiet, and Felix’s heart pounded. “Did… Did I hurt you?”
“Just a couple bruises,” Pepper said with a shrug, picking at the hem of his blue jacket. “It wasn’t that bad though. Nothing broken, or anything.”
Fuck.
Felix’s stomach was suddenly filled with ice. “Shit… I’m so fucking sorry, I wasn’t trying to hurt you, I swear.” His blue gaze worriedly scanned Pepper’s small form, as if he could magically see the finger-shaped bruises underneath his clothes. “Can— can I make it up to you, somehow? Please?”
Standing on the floor, Pepper seemed even smaller. He was barely over three inches tall, and Felix had acted so carelessly that he had bruised him. What had he been thinking?
“It’s okay, really,” Pepper said, seeming a little wary. “I get bruised all the time. It’s not new to me.”
“No, no. Can I make you something to eat, maybe? As an apology?”
The small man hesitated, wide gray eyes darting around the room. “You don’t have to do that.” As if on cue, the rumbling of his tiny stomach filled the air. Pepper’s tan face immediately flushed, and Felix tilted his head sympathetically.
“Here… let me go make a quick salad. It’ll take five minutes. Wait here.” Pepper had tried to take a piece of spinach a few days ago, so Felix figured a salad would be a good peace offering for all the trouble he had caused.
Before Pepper could refuse, Felix swiftly pulled himself to his feet. He immediately felt uneasy, looking down at the three-inch-tall boy from his height of nearly six feet, and took a calculated step back.
Pepper hadn’t moved, but his posture was significantly more rigid than it was before, staring up at the human. Considering the circumstances, Felix was grateful that he hadn’t instantly scurried off into the walls, and he murmured, “I’ll be right back.”
As he crossed the room into the kitchen, he tried to imagine that he was three inches tall, looking up at a man the size of a skyscraper. He shuddered, uneasy at the thought, and decided that Pepper must be a lot braver than he gave him credit for. The small man had actually approached Felix willingly, after all.
He stood aimlessly in the kitchen for a few seconds before rummaging through his fridge. He hadn’t gone grocery shopping in a week, and a lot of his produce was getting old. He’ll have to make do with what he had.
After a minute or two of dicing a cucumber into microscopic pieces, Felix spared a glance to his right, and stiffened.
It took him a moment to register what he was seeing. A small silver hook was latched onto the edge of the counter, and climbing up the thread it was attached to was Pepper.
The small man was about three quarters of the way up, not even looking in Felix’s direction. The human blinked several times, entranced by Pepper’s quick movements. Pepper had pulled his sleeves up to cover his hands as he climbed, a clever way to avoid ropeburn.
Deciding not to say anything, Felix turned back to the cutting board in front of him, carefully sectioning off an ounce of diced cucumber. He was halfway through chopping up some spinach when he glanced over again, only to see Pepper seated patiently on the countertop, raveling up his thread into small circles.
Felix gently cleared his throat. “That was impressive.”
Pepper tilted his head in Felix’s direction. It wasn’t any easier to read his expressions, even now that he was higher up. “Thanks.”
“Where’d you get that hook from?” Felix asked politely, absentmindedly searching for some sort of small plate or bowl he could give to a person the size of his finger.
“My sister,” Pepper explained hesitantly. “It’s an old fishing hook, I think. She got it for me when we were kids.”
Felix’s eyebrow raised, and he immediately had a thousand more questions. Pepper had a family, then? What was his childhood like? Did Pepper’s sister live here, too?
“What’s her name?” Felix finally asked, figuring that was a safe enough question to not frighten him off.
To his surprise, Pepper actually frowned, tightening his tiny grip on his hook. “It’s not really my place to say,” he said finally, voice cautious but firm. “Humans aren’t supposed to know anything about us, even our names.”
You told me your name, Felix wanted to say, but he decided against it. He glanced over as Pepper spoke up again.
“Have you… told anyone about me?” Pepper spoke as if he was trying to be casual, but Felix could sense a tenseness in the small man’s shoulders. The human blinked.
“No… not really,” Felix said softly. “I only told my soulmate. I’m sorry. But to be fair, I don’t think he believed me.”
Pepper’s face was unreadable, so Felix added, “Um, do you know what soulmates are?”
After a long moment, the borrower finally said, “I’ve… heard of them.”
Felix nodded, scraping a blend of diced veggies onto the corner of a napkin. “Humans have a telepathic connection with their soulmate,” he explained. “So I was able to tell my soulmate that I met you. But he acted kind of weird about it, and we haven’t really talked since, so… he probably just thinks I’m crazy now, I guess. You’re in the clear.”
“Huh,” Pepper said. “That’s interesting.”
Felix turned towards Pepper, the napkin laying flat in his hand. As he approached, it was hard not to stare at Pepper, in awe of just how small he was. The counter looked gigantic compared to him.
He set the napkin down a few inches away, hyper aware that this is the closest he’s been to Pepper since their last encounter. The small man visibly flinched as his hand approached, and Felix desperately wanted him to understand that he would never grab him like that again.
“Here,” Felix offered. “It’s spinach, cucumber, lettuce and some carrots. I didn’t add any dressing, cause I wasn’t sure what you like. And— I’m sorry— I don’t have any silverware that you could use. Um, but I hope you like it.”
Pepper, for the first time, actually sent him a small smile. “Thank you.” He swiftly approached the napkin, peering down at it momentarily with his small hands planted on his hips. After a moment of examination, Pepper picked up a piece of cucumber and tentatively nibbled at it.
Felix hovered nearby, his mind racing with a thousand questions. He still had no idea what Pepper even was, or why he had been lingering around his apartment. Did he live nearby?
“So…” Felix avoided looking at Pepper, busying himself by scraping the rest of his salad mix into a tupperware container. “I know you said humans aren’t supposed to know about you, but… I can’t lie, I’m really curious about you.”
Gray eyes peered up at him, hesitant.
Felix met his gaze briefly. “You don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t want to,” he assured. “But… but what exactly are you? Why can’t humans know about you?”
He tried to keep his voice light, respectful. In the corner of his eye, Pepper sat down, crossing his legs underneath him. Felix hoped that meant he was comfortable.
“Uh…” Pepper placed the cucumber piece back down on the napkin. “Well, we try to stay out of sight, for our safety. The world just… isn’t built for us.” He gestured vaguely to the kitchen, and Felix agreed that he looked very out of place on the massive counter. “If humans knew about us, we would probably be seen as— as pests, or something, so that’s why we try not to bother anyone.”
Felix’s eyebrows raised. “That’s messed up,” he said worriedly. “You all live in hiding because of humans? That’s… awful.”
He hated the idea that Pepper had at one point believed that Felix would hurt him, just because he was smaller. Did he still believe that?
“It’s not so bad,” Pepper reasoned, shrugging. “I mean, I’ve lived like this my whole life. And it’s not like we want to be interacting with humans, anyways. Humans are dangerous, whether they try to be or not.”
Felix stayed quiet, uneasy. Pepper continued hesitantly. “So… thank you, for keeping our secret. It means a lot more than you’d think.”
The human blinked, glancing over at the small man. Earnestly shone behind Pepper’s gray eyes.
“Of course,” Felix assured. “I’ll never tell anyone about you, I promise.”
Pepper opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but decided against it. Felix glanced over, watching as the small man leaned over the remains of his little salad and began to rip the napkin into a smaller piece.
After a minute, Pepper straightened up, and Felix realized what he had done. The napkin had been tied up into a little bundle, the salad nestled securely inside. “I’ll take this home with me,” Pepper said, genuinely grateful. “Thank you so much.”
He really did seem to have a lot of experience with this kind of life. Crafty, clever, and resourceful. Felix nodded, heart lifting at the positive response from the small man. “Of course. It’s the least I could do.”
Pepper nodded respectfully, beginning to walk towards the toaster, where Felix recalled there was a hidden exit. Then, the small man paused, peering up at Felix again.
“Also— I’m sure your soulmate doesn’t think you’re crazy,” Pepper said. “I think he’d be glad to hear from you again.”
Felix’s eyebrows raised in surprise. He had forgotten he had even mentioned his soulmate to Pepper. “Oh! Well, I’ll… I’ll reach out to him soon.”
“Good. And thanks again, for the salad. Maybe I’ll see you around, Felix.”
Hearing his name on Pepper’s tongue made Felix’s heart jump, not unpleasantly. “Right. No problem. See you around.”
Hours later, Pepper sat in his hammock, nibbling on a piece of carrot, thinking of massive hands and blonde hair. He sat up straighter as a voice entered his mind.
“Hey, soulmate, how have you been?”
“Hey, Felix,” Pepper murmured, setting his carrot down. Heart skipping a beat, he pressed his hands to his chest.
“Hey. It’s good to hear from you,” he responded, the corners of his lips twitching into a smile.

Twisted Wonderland Dorm Leaders connections to Disney protagonists
Recently I saw a post about how the housewardens have aspects of not only their villains, but their heroes too.
I’ve thought this too for a long time and just wanted to ramble and elaborate my thoughts on them.
Riddle has the Queen of Hearts Irrationally, discipline and sternness. But he also has Alice's curiosity, her stubbornness to give up (a good and bad thing) and her innocence. He also parallels the way it is implied that adults do not take Alice’s concerns/ feelings into consideration.
Leona has Scar's apathetic nature, his underhandedness, calculating personality. But I've always thought of his laziness, his need to run away from his duties more of a reflection on Simba and the way he avoided his past trauma for so long. Leona also has pride; a trait that is reflected in a negative light in Scar and a positive side for Simba.
Azul has Ursala's greediness, her fake charm, and her cut throat business attitude. But he also has Ariel's love for learning new things, the feeling as if they don’t belong in their own skin, the desire to change who they are to get the life they want; or perhaps be the person they always wanted to be.
Jamil is interesting. He shares Jafar’s lust for power, position, and to be seen as better than all others; as well as his two faced nature. But he and Kalim almost share the protagonist's traits. While Kalim gets Jasmine/The Sultans privilege, naivety, and optimism about people and the outside world; he also gets Alladin’s kindness. Whereas Jamil shares Jasmine’s and Genie’s desire for freedom. Free from duties, free from their bounds of their respective roles.
Vil is a little difficult, because of the existence of Neige, he doesn’t quite share many qualities with Snow White. Interestingly enough he seems to be the most separated from his protagonist: counterpart. I could almost argue he shares traits with the 7 dwarfs. While, he is obsessed with being “the fairest of them all”, vain, and can be jealous, and pompous. One cannot deny that he is a multifaceted character and a hard worker. If I did have to give a trait from Snow White to Vil it would be the standards of self care she holds herself and the 7 dwarfs too. Despite all his flaws, Vil is very caring to his loved ones and even nurturing, making them do what’s best for them, even if they don’t like or understand it; much like Snow White is to the Dwarfs.
Idia shares a lot of traits with Hercules and Meg. His personality is one that is pretty different from his Great 7 counterpart, at least on the surface.
While he has Hades gloom and doom; anger and apathy over his lot in life, his intelligence for strategy, lack of empathy and sympathy for others. As well as the willingness to manipulate people so that he can “win”.  Idia also shares Hercules desire to fit in, to belong, to be a hero to the people he cares about. He shares both Hercules and Meg's willingness to do anything for the people they love; to the point of self harm. And he share’s Megs, Hercules, and Hades desire to escape a fate in life they feel they don’t deserve. Most importantly, which I feel a lot of people overlook. Hercules desires to be normal (at least in the beginning of the movie.)
Malleus is also interesting, I suspect his story wasn’t solely influenced by the Disney Sleeping Beauty classic, but also the live action Maleficent movie. Which makes Maleficent the protagonist and recontextualized her lore and character. Making her the new protagonist. In this way it’s very clear how Malleus is both the antagonist and protagonist. But to stay true to the original animated films I’ll just focus on that. It’s very obvious how Malleus is similar to Maleficent. He can be petty, place himself above others, unempathetic, quick to anger/frustration. But like Aurora he is very sheltered from the rest of the world, he longs for connection with other people and wishes not to be known just for his title, but the person he is.
This connection to the protagonist is what makes the twist characters a Twist on the villains. The idea that villains and heroes are partially both victims of circumstances and if things were different maybe one or the other would be labeled a “hero” or “villain”. I really appreciate the much more gray-scale approach they took; and what that could mean once you really dive into the lore, history, and worldbuilding they're doing.
Though that's mostly hc stuff for now.
Anyway this is a bit rambling but I just wanted to get my thoughts out there.

As I've been rewatching the different film versions of A Christmas Carol this year, I've been noticing something that I didn't even notice last year as I reviewed them for A Christmas Carol Holiday Season. Without changing the fundamentals of the story, different versions bring out different aspects of Scrooge's character arc.
It's similar to the phenomenon I've noticed in different screen and stage adaptations of fairy tales. For example, the way some versions of Cinderella are about the value of kindness, others are about never losing hope in the face of adversity, others about an outcast finding acceptance and love, others about an abuse victim discovering her own self-worth and inner strength, etc.
I suppose A Christmas Carol is a modern literary fairy tale, so it's no surprise that different adaptations find very different meanings in it.
For example:
Alastair Sim's 1951 Scrooge was once a good-hearted young idealist, but due to various external factors – his lonely childhood, his beloved sister Fan's death, the corrupt Mr. Jorkin replacing Fezziwig as his employer and mentor, and finally the loss of his fiancée Alice – he gradually came to view the world as a "hard and cruel place." So he steeled himself against it by turning cold and ruthless. The ghosts' job is to show him that the world isn't as cruel as he thinks it is; to remind him of all the kind, caring people both from his past and in his present, and to show him that kindness is the real solution to human suffering, while hardening himself has only caused and will cause more suffering, both for others and for himself.
Albert Finney's 1970 musical Scrooge is less icy than Sim's and more of a bitter, misanthropic workaholic who's forgotten how to appreciate the joys of living. Due to his lonely, awkward youth and the shattering loss of his fiancée Isabel, he declares "I hate life because life hates me!" and regards other people as leeches and fools, while seeing himself as a fine, upstanding gentleman forced to put up with them. The ghosts' job is to snap him out of his self-delusion and self-pity, and to teach him to joyfully live life to the fullest – which includes spreading kindness and cheer to others as well as enjoying himself – while he still can. A sharp reminder of his own mortality ensures that he learns the lesson.
For Michael Caine's Scrooge in The Muppet Christmas Carol, the emphasis is more on the lack of love in his life. Because he was neglected as a child and taught only to value business by Sam the Eagle his stern schoolmaster, he's never quite understood human bonds, and when he had one bright, shining chance for a different life through his love for Belle, he let it slip away. As a result, years of loneliness have turned him harsh and cold. The ghosts' job is to teach him the importance of love – both personal love of family and friends and more general love for his fellow Muppets and man – and to force him to admit how unhappy he is being alone with no one to love or to love him, breaking his heart until he changes.
I haven't managed to rewatch George C. Scott, Patrick Stewart, et al this year. But since the Christmas season technically lasts until January 6th, I plan to rewatch them, and I'm sure I'll find similarly unique spins on Scrooge's character arc.
All of these approaches are valid. They all draw on aspects of Scrooge's journey in the book. But each approach adds to the unique identity of each adaptation.

https://www.tumblr.com/the-sage-libriomancer/735649361333239808/rewatched-princess-and-the-frog-today-and-honestly
I saw this post and automatically thought of you. They are 100% correct.
Absolutely! You’re correct. Hey, @the-sage-libriomancer , I saw Wish and you’re still correct. The idea of having a star that is a higher power (Evangeline) and then having a character who demonstrates absolute faith in that higher power (Ray) and winds up teaching that same faith to both self-centered-Naveen and self-reliant Tiana? So very Disney.
Sometimes Disney’s Renaissance-era princesses were the Faithful Characters of their own story—Ariel had faith in Eric and taught that same faith to her father, Jasmine (and Genie) had faith in the Truth and taught that faith to Aladdin and the Sultan, etc. And that’s wonderful. Cinderella and Snow White are the Faithful Characters in their own stories, too, so it’s not like that isn’t a Classic Disney idea.
But Princess and the Frog doesn’t do that. It has the princess be the one who needs to learn to have faith. And the prince! That’s much more like dear old Pinocchio. What Jiminy Cricket and Geopetto are to Pinocchio, Ray is to Louis, Naveen, and Tiana. I mean, how wonderful a tribute to Disney, to have the main character be afraid of relying in something higher, valuing love, and trusting only whatever she can accomplish on her own…
…to have her go from that to being willing to give up what she wanted? To value love, plain old love, over career, personal goals, dreams? To change her dream and admit when she was wrong? And finally, to sacrifice herself in order to do what’s right?
Why, that’s Pinocchio. That’s Mr. Banks from Mary Poppins. That’s Alice from Alice in Wonderland. That’s Disney!
Wish 2023 could never.

Disney Publishing Worldwide
Disney Editions Deluxe
November 5, 2024
When the Disney Afternoon premiered in 1990, kids tossed their backpacks aside to watch their favorite Disney television characters. Unlike with feature films, these stars had a new adventure every weekday, and their audience journeyed with them on a daily basis. Throughout the '80s and '90s, Disney raised the bar with a lineup of innovative, high-quality television animation. The characters were endearing, the writing was clever, and the art was exceptional. Those who grew up with these characters have continued their love affairs for shows like Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, TaleSpin, and the irrepressibly beloved DuckTales, deep into adulthood. For the first time, learn the history of the Disney Afternoon shows, read interviews from the creative teams, and revel in rare, behind-the-scenes artwork, plus get the full making of story of the modern-day DuckTales series and the meta-driven Chip 'n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers film and its legacy connections to the past for a new generation of fans.

I love your gifs! ♡
What are your favorite animated movies?
Thank you! I have so many, the list can go on and on. I’ll do top 10.
10) Brother Bear
The movie of transformation! This movie is so deep. Everything happens for a reason. Spiritual. Love it.
9) Fox and the Hound
The movie that taught me what friendship really is about. It's not all rainbows and butterflies.
8) Goofy Movies
Both I used to watch on repeat. I loved seeing Goofy as a father. Really taught me to be better to my parents. I had the biggest crush on Max. Idk don't judge I really don't know...hyuck. Catchy songs. The birth place of the leaning Tower of Cheesa.
7) Frozen 1 & 2
Disney did great with both of these movies. Phenomenal in my opinion. Disney don't make things like this anymore. The concept of you, yourself are your own love. It was Anna's act of love that thawed her own heart. She risked her life under a blade to protect her sister because she loves her. Much different from the normal love stories. Even in #2 Elsa is the one she been looking for all of her life. Such great movies.
6) Sailor Moon
The movies are so nostalgic to me. I unfortunately grew up on dic dub version. But I watched Viz dub after finding out I been lied to my entire childhood. This series literally gave me my imagination. I fell in love with love. Friendship, leadership, hardship, alien ships. Such a great storyline.
5) Shrek
This movie really just taught me to be myself. Very nostalgic. SomeBODY ONCE TOLD ME
4) Lilo and Stitch
Because Ohana means family...and family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten. Very nostalgic. I related to Lilo. I wasn't the most popular kid and I always wanted my own crazy alien best friend. 😅
3) Tarzan
Soundtrack plays in my head like a broken record. So nostalgic it makes me cry. This movie taught me it's okay to be different. My obsession with ripped jungle men started.
2) The Little Mermaid 1 & 2
Idc what anyone says about Ariel, she chose love. She's the only Princess that became a mother and started a family. She is my favorite and always will be. She knew what she wanted and she went out and got it. Not many people have the courage to chase their dreams.
1) The Lion King 1, 1/12 & 2
The most loved and nostalgic for me. I literally watched these movies on repeat and most likely know them word for word still. This is the first movie I probably witnessed murder in lol. It taught me so much. You must learn from your mistakes and not repeat them. People can change. It even gave me trust issues. Hakuna Matata!! The soundtrack puts me into tears because of nostalgia. I haven't started gifsets for them because I fear I won't stop and gif the entire movie. My childhood theme song is the Circle of Life okay. It's my ringtone too.
More loved films: Toy Story, Shark Tale, SpaceJam, Finding Nemo, The PageMaster, Monster House, Tom and Jerry, Oliver & Company, 101 Dalmatians, Moana, The Good Dinosaur, Eight Crazy Nights, Rugrats, Alice in Wonderland, Madagascar, Monsters Inc, Open Season, and Over the Hedge.

DCA Info Part 35: The Dorm Leaders Unique Magic Explained
Tumblr media
Art colored by @au-ni-ro
🍎 Evonie - Her unique magic is a reference to Snow White's animal companions who comforted her when she was overwhelmed with fear. It relates to Evonie's loneliness, with very little friends to really trust, the animals are the only ones she can count on to have her back.
👠 Ella - Her unique magic is a reference to Cinderella's limited magic from her fairy godmother. Ella wants to make everything beautiful but it can only last so long, so she intends to make the most of it until it fades off.
🐰 Allison - Her unique magic ties in with her desire to run away into a more better place like Alice, she doesn't want to her father nagging to her about impressing some big shots just so he can climb the social ladder.
🌹 Briar - Her unique magic is a reference to the gifts of the three good fairies, Princess Aurora was blessed to have three gifts that made her special. Briar's unique magic made her special as well as powerful, but sadly she is never acknowledged.
🐠 Cerule - Her unique magic ties into her ability to hide injuries she got like small scrapes and cuts to make sure she isn't suspected of sneaking out, just like Ariel
📚 Rozeline - Her unique magic is tied to her desire to protect but like Belle, she is unable to convince people that she isn't dangerous nor a monster.
🏝️ Vidya - Her unique magic ties in with her need to be on guard, she uses her golems to give her the image of a reliable but powerful ruler to her subjects.
🐲 Jinlong - Her unique magic represents her desire to remove the biased expectation on gender while also making sure not to cause unnecessary harm to other people.
🐻 Elu - Her unique magic is a reference to the guiding wind from Pocahontas, she was young and had so much to learn until she found her path. Elu may be a reliable dorm leader but there is still so much she needs to know.
🐸 Perrine - Her unique magic ties in with controlling her circumstances, she wants to make sure her loved ones don't go back to poor living conditions and she won't leave those who are in need either.

Understanding DNA: God’s Blueprint for Life
By Ariel “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” —Psalm 139:14 Hello, friends! It’s Ariel again, and today we did something in homeschool that started with a big surprise. When Mommy unboxed the DNA model kit and held up the twisty double helix, I gasped. It looked like a curly straw made of jellybeans and math! The colors…

Ariel was making a rapid progress learning about robotics. Being fixated on the topic their whole childhood and now having their uncle married to an actual scientist from Strangetown definitely helped with that.
Tumblr media
Edith missed having Ariel around in the nursery and playing together. She didn't really like little Alice and knew her baby sister won't grow fast enough for them to be able to play together like she would with Ariel.

Hi!! I'm sure you've been asked this before so feel free to ignore this but what are your favorite Disney femslash ships? I have a lot that I like, but some of my own faves are Esmeralda/Jasmine, Aurora/Snow White, Merida/Mulan, Elsa/Isabela, and Ariel/Moana!! (Also, thank you for your post about blocking people who post AI art in the tags lol. I will not say who but someone I followed for a long time whose blog I loved started suddenly posting about AI stuff and I had to unfollow. It was crazy to me because they themself were an artist who didn't seem to realize or mind that AI art steals from artists like them.)
Oh my but this is one of my favorite questions and the answers do change over time.
Right now my favorite ships are (in no particular order)
Alice/ Wendy Darling (particularly my interpretation of them as adults)
Snow White/Jasmine (honestly OTP of all time material, ask me about them and I'll tell you)
Tiana/Cinderella
Snow White /Luisa - they're so cute
Esmeralda/Isabela
As for AI, I do have some room for nuance in it. There are tools that look at patterns in images and try to complete the pattern that I think would be incredibly useful and are notably not theft as they're largely pulling from an image that you're choosing to feed into it, and things like clip studio paint's auto colorize specifically when taking partially colored images, where I could see it being exceptionally useful to comic artists if you could control the inputs to only be your own art. My understanding of things like this is that they're also less of an energy drain and more sustainable, which is not a small issue when you're talking about full scale generative ai.
Where AI is right now isn't ethical. I want to make myself clear too that my biggest issue with AI is the destruction of the community aspects of fandom, because it's true that it steals and uses a lot of energy but the same can technically be said of AMVs and I'm pretty sure that we all like those here. I'm not inherently opposed to image manipulation and mash-ups, even of my own work, but I do want for people to be able to find my art and be able to talk to me and ask me to draw things if they want.
People who are generating images in private don't have to talk to anyone in order to get more of the same type of image, and while it's still definitely possible to share things around and make friends through mutual appreciation of the same thing and sharing that thing, it's not really the same experience as talking to people and building things together.
I want for people to make friends and talk to people, especially queer folks who are more likely to be isolated. And I want for artists to be included in the communities that they're making works for.
