Funniest mileven arguments to why byler won’t be endgame

I’m sorry if there’s any grammar errors or mistakes, I wrote this angrily at 2 am when I couldn’t sleep.

1. “Its the 80’s”- as if there isn’t any movies that have happy queer endings that were made/set in the 80’s, yall are just lazy and don’t want to actually do any research.

2. “It’s a Netflix original”- ok? And? Like we literally get a new mlm/queer show on Netflix every year, byler is a mlm relationship which Netflix has a lot of, young royals, heartstopper??? Are you guys ok?

3. “Cuz it’s too popular” - we already have over two queer confirmed characters in stranger things, the show that’s about fighting forced conformity ?? The show that focuses on nerds, losers and people that don’t ‘fit in’ ? And y’all find it so hard to see ur two main characters being gay? Read the room respectfully.

4. “It’s one sided” - if it was one sided they would make Mike tell Will he doesn’t like him in s3 and give Will a new love interest in s4 (it has been confirmed that there will be no new characters in s5 and that the producers want every character to have their ‘perfect ending’) Will believed he was a mistake and thought he wouldn’t fall in love, because he is queer so he most definitely will have a queer love interest and it will be Mike.

5. “Mike is in love with el”- is he tho? He never actually said he loved her to her face without the world and her life depending on it, he’s been pressured to say it twice and when she told him she loves him back the man didn’t look happy but conflicted.

6. “Mileven endgame” - it’s really not, the amount of symbolism that points to their downfall (such as everyone calling them the ‘star crossed lovers’ which are basically lovers deemed to fail, and more) is HUGE, they have too many familial parallels it’s insane, why parallel the it couple with family themes and relationships? Another problem I have with this it’s the fact that it’s very rare for the first ‘original’ pairings to stay together till the end of the show (like with Bob and Joyce or Steve and Nancy)

7. “Byler wouldn’t make sense to the plot”- watch the show again, just because somethings more subtle, doesn’t mean it’s not there, y’all will always say that about queer relationships but whenever u guys see a straight relationship in these subtle moments you jump into conclusions that they might end up together, it’s called being a hypocrite.

8. “Mike isn’t gay” - it’s what he’s been telling himself too, the guy was obviously made fun of and called slurs like Will, everyone already thought and knew their relationship was ‘special’ and everyone suspected something, that’s why Mikes own dad was surprised and said “our son, with a girl?” Also your so called straight Mike has a room filled with pictures and posters of buff men, he’s never shown any interest in girls or women (except el who’s been said, looked like a boy in s1) not to mention the first song on his official Spotify playlist being “small town boy” (yk the song about a young gay man running away from his homophobic small town??).

9. Mikes love confession- if u call that a love confession I wouldn’t wanna date u brother, he was pushed to say ily by Will, the same Will that was in the frame of Mike lying when he said that his life “started” when he found El in the woods, which was obviously a lie because Mike called El a weapon and said he’ll “send her back to pennhurst or wherever she comes from” after they found her, also if the love confession was honest why would El be still upset with Mike and not talk to him after??

10. “El wasn’t upset at Mike but was sad about Max” - me when I’m in denial, she wasn’t sad about Max until she found the coke bottle underneath her bed, then we get the flashbacks of her and Max having fun in s3, she wasn’t thinking abt Max before that, its called common sense and logical thinking skills.

11. “There would be no time for byler to develop in s5” - it might seem crazy what I’m about to say, they were literally childhood best friends and it’s been confirmed that Will had a crush on Mike since s1, they literally started to build their romantic relationship MORE in s4, with all the ‘[emotional, tender music playing]’ and parallels between byler and jancy, also even if they haven’t started to build their relationship up in a romantic way in s4, y’all remember how in less than a season Jonathan and Nancy slept together or how Max and Lucas got together in a spawn of a season (mind u they met in the same season). Byler knows each other since little kids and always had potential y’all are just in denial.

12. “Why make Mike queer” - why not? Do y’all actually believe that one of the main characters plot line is just about getting with the girl at the end? Even if it was (which lets be so fr now) why would Mike get with El from the first season (they kissed in s1 and basically u can count that as they’re together wtv) if that was his main goal as a character? Well written shows have something called a “character development” which the producers of st love apparently, so why make Mike just a bland character that just gets with the main girl character, and why have El date the first guy she ever met, I just think it would be very shallow.

have u done an analysis on endgame st ships? a penny for ur thoughts

i have not!! i would like two pennies please. my thoughts are not actually worth that much but i think i deserve them anyway. i’m gonna talk about some stuff that may seem unrelated or only loosely related to the question but i prommy it’s relevant <3 warning this ended up being like a thousand words somehow idk how that happened but i’m putting it under a cut bc i’m nice like that.

so! something that’s kinda unique/interesting to me about stranger things is how all of their ships are so clearly telegraphed and quickly developed. there’s a sense of... impatience, for lack of a better word. on the surface, it appears to be largely an effect of the cinematic style of the show; there’s very little room for questioning who someone’s gonna end up with or for slowly developing a relationship over time when you only get eight episodes every like. twoish years. AND you have about a dozen main characters AND evil government forces AND monsters from another dimension. it’s a lot to juggle!

stranger things has a lot to accomplish in a pretty short amount of time. the timeline of a single season usually spans no more than a week (excluding flashbacks/end-of-season timeskips), and well... nobody wants the important stuff to happen offscreen! i’ll use the stoncy love triangle as an example: jancy was originally intended to get together at the end of s1 after steve’s death, but since they decided to let steve redeem himself and survive, there was just no time to separate stancy and get jancy together without it seeming wayyy too abrupt. since jancy was always their plan, they didn’t want to leave nancy with steve, but they knew they couldn’t just have that boyfriend swap occur offscreen... which is why s2 Had to have a stancy breakup plot in order for the writers to accomplish their goal of getting jancy together.

the main characters in stranger things tend to maintain homeostasis between seasons, their circumstances and relationships rarely changing any more than the audience might have just assumed they would anyway (like lucas and max dancing together + sharing a kiss at the end of s2 and officially dating by the start of s3). steve and nancy are dating at the end of s1, so they must still be dating at the start of s2, and thus we must break them up DURING s2. joyce and hopper are friends with some deeply buried feelings in s2, so they’re friends with Less Buried feelings that must become apparent during s3. excluding the stancy situation (for reasons which i think are obvious but i will talk more about later), momentum is always forwards. mileven, lumax, and jancy argue, but they come back together, presumably more mature and stronger than before. 

all of this is to say that stranger things has thus far been rather dedicated to their starting ships. there isn’t much misdirection; mike’s crush on el is obvious from the start, nancy and jonathan share charged moments even while she is with steve in the beginning, lucas shows interest in max immediately and shares more significant interactions with her than the other boys from early on in s2, and the deep loyalty and care between joyce and hop is always apparent. steve and robin (initially intended to be together romantically) hold hands quite early in s3 and dustin asks steve about whether he likes her. 

the point? stranger things doesn’t dick around when it comes to love! they handle their ships with remarkable efficiency. in each season, it tends to be pretty obvious from the start who’s going to end up with who, and heading into the show’s fourth season, almost everybody is paired off: mike and el, max and lucas, joyce and hop, nancy and jonathan. which leaves us asking... are all of them going to last until the end?

we’ve only had one true breakup on the show so far, and as i’ve said before, the stancy breakup is an anomaly as it was essentially “righting a wrong,” allowing jonathan and nancy to get together as they were intended to do from the start. the only other romantic relationship to end on the show was between joyce and bob, and well... we all know why that ended, and it started/ended within the confines of a single season. 

stranger things tends to treat each season as an extended film, right? they draw inspiration from classic 80′s films, and each subsequent season after s1 is treated as a sequel (they are Literally referred to as stranger things 2 and stranger things 3). when they introduce tension in a season, they’re inclined to resolve that tension by the season’s end so that people leave satisfied, while also providing a plot hook for the next “sequel” for audiences to theorize about. this hook is always part of the grander plot, not a will-they-won’t-they tease or something else of the sort. remember, they could have broken up steve and nancy in s2 and waited to get jancy together in s3, but they didn’t! they wanted to go ahead and resolve the tension! 

while there are narrative and practical incentives that i’ve covered for this impatience/efficiency/[insert better word i can’t think of here], i also think it kinda reveals something about the writers of the show. to some degree, they genuinely care about and want their ships to be together! we’ve watched them introduce new characters just to kill them off a couple of times now, and i think it’s fair to say that the writers might be a bit too attached to the mains to consider killing any of them off (at least prior to the series finale). maybe... this reluctance to kill their darlings extends to ships.

romance isn’t the primary draw of the show, but an indulgence, something that there may not always be time for but that the writers continue to prioritize as much as they can because they enjoy it, or feel that it is important to the overall product. if we accept this idea, that the inclusion of and focus on so many romantic relationships in stranger things is (to some degree) indicative of the writers’ own desires, then it might inform our speculation regarding endgame ships.

i’m not here to like... really actually assert that i know what’ll be endgame, because i don’t really know jack shit. however, i do think that the writers are pretty invested in all of the current canon st ships (and yes, i am including jopper in that, as their romantic development was explicit in s3). i also think that the writers like catering to fans, leaning into popular jokes (steve “the hair” harrington) and devoting more and more time to the ships fans obsess over (particularly mileven). 

with this all in mind... i really think that most if not all of the current canon ships will be endgame. 

i think that barring any extreme circumstances (i.e. a character Actually dying instead of just fake dying) jopper will be endgame. they’re the only ones that the writers have had the restraint to actually do a slow burn with, and i really can’t see them devoting so much to developing their dynamic just to say it was all for nothing in the end. 

i’m less confident on the others. there are some signs in canon that the remaining couples have some serious problems and may not last, but these issues are often dismissed, played for comedy or brushed over within the text itself, and many of the details within the text contradicting this dismissal are often so small that it’s unclear whether they’re intentional or not. while breaking up mileven might make perfect sense for a fan who reads into subtext and pays attention to unusual acting choices and subtle parallels, it would be a pretty risky move on the surface level. allowing these ships to remain canon for awhile and garner large fanbases only to break them up later would require both a willingness to actively contradict the desires of their audience as well as a certain degree of restraint in their romantic storytelling, which runs counter to the impression i personally have of the st writers (this is, of course, my own personal opinion).

there’s a good chance that at least one of the current canon ships will break up by the end, if only because i think that it would be a little boring if every relationship stayed the same for almost the entirety of the show’s run, and the stranger writers like to keep things new and exciting. perhaps long distance will kill jancy or mileven, or lucas and max will go off again and never come back on, but either way i wouldn’t be surprised if we got a breakup in s4. even with that, though, i think it’s somewhat likely that a current couple may break up in s4 and get back together for the series finale, just for the sake of a little suspense. overall, though, i feel like our current canon ships are going to be more or less the same at the end of the show.

Sleeping on the jet was usually reserved for the trips back from cases because the team was so used to reviewing what they knew about it on the way there, but Spencer had other plans. He had had troubles sleeping lately and he couldn’t help but nod off on the plane, if slipping into the REM stage was considered nodding off.

A certain dream kept coming back to him, but each time it was a little different. Dream Spencer kept finding the same dead boy in the same basement. It was bad enough that Spencer spent his conscious energy on saving endangered lives, but now, his subconscious was dealing with it too, and it had all become too much for him to handle. 

Y/N knew about the dreams he was having, seeing as she was the closest person to him besides his mother. She had been waking up to him yelling in the night, but she was never bothered by it. She consoled him every chance she got. Without her, Spencer probably would have lost his mind.

Spencer stirred in his nap with a permanent scowl on his face. Watching him stir made Y/N very nervous so she squeezed his shoulder gently in hopes of waking him without startling him.

“Spencer?” she called softly, moving closer to him.

He awoke with a jerking motion and a shocked look on his face. The rest of the team looked in his direction with concerned gazes. Y/N rubbed his shoulder again to remind him that he was okay. It was a subtle movement, but Spencer was grateful for it because it kept him grounded.

“Sorry, I was dreaming..” he trailed off tiredly, rubbing his eyes.

“Yeah, no kidding!” Emily said with an amused smile.

“Found a..six year old boy who’d been abused and stabbed. Your baby was at the crime scene, I was tryna..I was tryna get him out of there, sorry.” He tried explaining, referring to JJ’s baby.

Morgan and Hotch both tried to say something about dream analysis, but he quickly told them he didn’t believe in it.

“Why aren’t we reviewing the case file?” He countered, hoping that would end the discussion.

“I don’t know, maybe because someone fell asleep on the jet?” Emily teased and Spencer smirked, with a small shake of his head. The rest of the team giggled and went on with bouncing details of the case off each other.

 Y/N cast a worried glance over at Spencer who’d avoided her gaze. She knew she’d talk to him about it soon, though. She slid her hand in his when no one was looking, letting him know that everything would be alright. She saw a small smile crawl up to his face and she sighed in relief inaudibly.

Y/N and Reid were assigned by Hotch to stay the night at the victim’s house with the parents to offer any assistance if necessary. They both took separate couches, Y/N just dozing off when she heard Spencer mumble her name.

“Y/N…” he mumbled, “Y/N, get them off me.” he said with more force, “Y/N! Y/N, get them off me!” he panicked as he writhed in his sleep, hands clutching his shirt and his chest.

She hurriedly turned a lamp on and rushed to his side, “Reid! Spencer, wake up! It’s me.” 

She grabbed him gently and his eyes shot open with a look of terror. He trembled as his hands went up to cover his face in embarrassment and tiredness. The parents had rushed downstairs in a panic and Y/N was quick to assure them that everything was okay and that it was just a misunderstanding. Spencer uttered a few apologies and Y/N convinced the parents to go back to bed. 

Y/N turned to him and spoke gently, “Spence, is everything okay?”

He huffed and took a seat on the couch, his fingers in his hair, “I’m making everything worse.” He sounded so exhausted. She took a seat on the coffee table in front of him.

“Spencer, it’s not your fault. These cases aren’t easy, and they get to all of us.” She tried to console him again.

“I’m losing it in their living room, Y/N, and I’m dreaming about dead kids...and being covered in leeches.” 

“What’s scaring you, love?” She was so gentle and inviting but his mind got the best of him. She took one of his hands that was tugging at his hair and rubbed his knuckles slowly.

“There’s boys that are dying and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.” He admitted his insecurities weakly but truth be told, he was more than just scared, he was terrified. 

She took a deep breath and nodded, understanding. “We’re gonna do our best, baby.”

However, she realized that this was a much bigger issue than she had previously thought, but unpacking it here wouldn’t have been efficient for either of them. Instead, she moved next to him on the couch and wrapped an arm over his shoulders. He turned into her and placed his head in the crook between her neck and her shoulder. He placed a soft kiss there and she smiled. She laid them down and ran her fingers through his hair to calm him until his ragged breathing evened itself out and he was out like a light again.

The next morning, they all had to attend the funeral of the first boy who was murdered. They hoped to spot the unsub at the funeral. They were all ready to leave and Y/N looked for Spencer in the house. She found him in the boy’s room. Last night he’d slept in her embrace, and she found comfort in the fact that Spencer felt safe with her.

“Hey, Spence. We’re almost ready to go.” She told him from the doorway. He turned to face her and sighed, he hadn’t had the chance to thank her for comforting him last night, but he’d still woken up with the same insecurities. This job depended on the repetitive nature of the murderer, which meant they needed a certain amount of victims to fully develop their profile. That didn’t sit right with Spencer or the rest of the team.

“You know...the parents are right. Odds are we’ll catch the unsub when he dumps the body or when he tries to snatch a kid.” He shoved his hands in his pockets as a defense. She bit her lip and entered the room.

“Yeah, I know the odds, Spence.” She fiddled with her fingers but she knew there was something else on his mind. He turned to the rest of the room and pointed out something about the boy’s toys. He contrasted them with the books he had in his house growing up.

“Basements are the first thing of the house to be built, right? So if you’re having a recurring dream about a basement kind of speaks to the...core fundamentals of who you are as a person.” He tried to find reason for his dream, his hands gesturing frustratedly.

“I thought you didn’t believe in dream analysis.” She smiled a little.

“Freud’s been discredited, but Jung still has his merits.” He said casually, “I’ve been having different versions of this dream since I was a little boy, Y/N.”

“You know, it’s okay if you asked for a little time off if this is worrying you that much. I want you to be okay, Spencer.” She moved closer to him. 

He huffed again, “I just want to find this boy.” he slipped past her.

After much investigation, they had found the boy and the unsub. Spencer made sure the boy was okay before returning him to his parents. He breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the boy reunite with them. Y/N walked over to him as he observed the reunion.

“You know, this is about as good as it gets on this job. We’re lucky we even get to experience this moment. ” She reminded him and he nodded, his feet still shuffling and hands stuck in his pockets. Whatever he was battling, Y/N wanted to make sure she was right there with him to help him through it.

“Yeah, I know.” he pursed his lips.

“But….you’re still thinking about a boy you’re not really sure you even knew.” she looked curiously.  Morgan had found out information about a certain boy who was murdered at the time Spencer was four years old.

“Listen, Y/N. I asked my mother about it and she told me that when I was four, she had a sense that I was in danger.” He spoke as if he was trying to recall a locked memory.

“Spencer, your mother wasn’t well.” she tried to remind him without hurting his feelings. He was unconvinced.

“Yeah, but I know facts about the case.” He stated.

“You’ve got an eidetic memory, babe. You probably just saw the story and you identified with the boy, allowing your imagination to latch onto it.” She tried to give him an explanation to bring a little peace to his whirring brain but he glanced at her.

“I don’t really think that you believe that.” He stated simply but her eyes shone with a little bit of amusement as she looked at him.

“Well, you wanna know what I really believe, Reid? I believe that you could have done anything else in the world with your life, but you picked this job,” she insisted, “you’re well aware that Jung says that our unconscious is the key to our life’s pursuits.” He nodded in agreement and she continued, “so, for one reason or another, that case stuck with you all these years. It lead you down this career path, but also to the same city where your mother lives and it gave us the opportunity to save this child. We saved this child, Spencer.” she gestured to the young boy, still clinging to his mother. 

He fought back a smile, “Yeah, yeah we did.”

“It’s a moment of celebration, enjoy it. Today was a great day on the job. We can’t forget about all the good we see, it’s really easy to become overwhelmed by the bad.” She reached up and held his arm gently. He nodded and wrapped her in a one armed hug, rubbing her other arm. He placed a loving kiss to the top of her head.

“Thanks, Y/N.” He said and she gave his waist a squeeze in response. Hotch came by and they broke apart.

“Hey, do you think it would be possible to take off in the morning?” He asked Hotch.

Hotch nodded and turned to Y/N, his voice monotonous but laced with mischief, “Do you think you can find something to do in Vegas for the night?” She responded with a giggle and a grin.

Chapter 2: Reel Her In

Dinner in the mess hall was meatloaf, a gravy-soaked concoction that did not taste like meat or resemble a loaf, a bowl of mushroom soup, and garlic bread. Levi had speared a slice of meat with his fork and raised them to just below his chin, but then seemed to forget about them as his gaze fell to Sophie. He'd forgotten he was eating, he had yet taken a single bite of his dinner until the meatloaf nearly slides off the fork. Listening to Hange talk on and on while stealing glances to Sophie, he'd watched full of curiously at her interacting with the other Marleyan soldiers.

When Hange would pause in her monologue, she would raise her eyebrows at his fork and lifted her chin suggesting him to take a bite. Levi would merely sigh, rolled his eyes, shoveled them in his mouth and chewed with an expression asking: Why do humans go through the dreary process of digesting food? Hange knew her friend well, she noticed his poor attempt of concealing his glances at the Marleyan table. She crossed her arms beneath her chest and kicked at his shin playfully to get his attention.

"What?" Levi asked.

"You got to reel her in you know, be subtle about it." Hange suddenly said to encourage him, her lips curved into a smile. "It's that bit of nuance you know." Hange began to share her input on the matters of love with a monotonous Levi who stayed silent throughout. Hange insisted that he should strike a conversation with her but talk only about the most mundane things, the weather, the local Marleyan cuisine and culture, anything that would give him an opportunity to communicate while utilizing the silent but deadly language of eye contact.

Levi's face stayed stoic. The truth was, other boys were not as powerful as Levi when it comes down to fighting titans with the ODM gears and hand-on-hand combat, but they were more skillful at asking girls out because what they lacked had taught them persistence. Whereas Levi had never even entertained the infatuation from any pursuer. Levi's skills with the ODM gears had left him dry on tricks, and in misery, he merely sighed at Hange and her advice.

"Levi!" Hange shrieked, awakening him to his senses.

"Yes," Levi replied, swirling the mushroom soup with the garlic bread.

"Wow, you must really like her huh? She got you all tongue-tied," Hange moved her eyebrows playfully, then made a quick glance to Sophie. Oh fuck, Levi thought to himself, even Hange has started to notice how wary he is around the mess halls.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Levi announced, hissing almost.

"Levi, if you want to befriend her, you've got to start by actually talking to her. I think you know what you've got to do," Hange ventured, teasingly taking a slice of his garlic bread she'd hope he won't notice.

"Yeah," Levi looked down to his bowl of mushroom soup, his lips pursed. Hange merely looked to his friend, speechless, indeed Levi was a man of few words. Most people would not know but Levi was a shy person. To even talk to someone he was mildly attracted to would require a lot of courage and planning on his part.

Somehow the stars aligned for Levi that night and the opportunity arose, both Eren and Jean started to shout and wrestle each other in the middle of the mess hall. Jean aimed for a body slam in the midsection whereas Eren went for the crazed punch to the head. At the last moment, Jean reached one hand out and hit Eren by the jaw. Eren spit out the blood and with his leg, swept Jean's feet out from under him. As expected of the other soldiers, both Paradis and Marleyan started to form a circle between the two and cheered them on.

Any other day, Levi would intervene and stop the fight. But that night, he noticed Sophie was away from her squad trying to catch a glimpse of the fight and he figured it was the best opportunity to approach her. Levi stood up and lingered nearby, planning meticulously in his head how to execute his plan. Taking a deep breath, he left his seat and walked to the cheering crowd. Three times his heart jumped at the decoys of other petite girls he walked past.

A few more stride and he saw Sophie on her tip-toes, her eyebrows furrowed curiously to view the fight. Levi found himself staring at her with a concentration so focused everyone else ceased to exist. A fuzzy aura surrounded her, probably due to so much blood draining out of Levi's head. He looked back to his table at Hange knowing she was observing his move, indeed Hange grinned at him while raising her cup of beer to wish him luck.

Levi took a deep breath and walked towards her, his pace slowing as he halted to a stop beside her. Sophie was unaware of Levi and was more enamored of the ongoing action, to her it was Eren, the founding and attack titan performing hand-on-hand combat hence it was a big deal even if everything was in good fun. Even though Levi avoided looking at her, it was no use, he felt Sophie beside him, registered her body temperature, heartbeat and respiration rate. He also noticed hay sticking by the bottom hem of her grey slack, she must have been to the stable that day.

Right then it happened, Jean tried to finish off with a body punch that entered cartoonishly far into Eren's gut. The room rippled louder with laughter and cheering. It was then that Sophie noticed the figure beside him, Levi Ackerman, with a stoic monotonous face, he looked clearly unamused with the ongoing commotion. She swallowed a lump on her throat, nervous at how she ended up bumping shoulders with the infamous Captain Levi.

He suddenly leaned into her and said, "They're both morons."

In response, she merely nodded her mouth agape. He is an Ackerman, the clan Zeke had warned about, and she was in awe. But Levi, who was very much curious leaned in and pointed to her slack, "You got hay on you."

"Hay? Oh, this?" Sophie nervously replied, looking down to her gray slack. "Oh yeah, I visited the stable earlier." The light from the lamps of the mess hall gathered in the dark waves of her loose hair, her cheeks were bright pink and Levi was transfixed.

Levi waited for the cheering to peak before he spoke again, "You like to visit the stables?" Realizing how stupid his attempt was at forming a basic sentence he quickly added, "I mean horses--- You like horses?"

"Yes," Sophie replied, nervously tucking her hair behind her ear. "The horses here in Paradis are super friendly, bitey though."

"Yeah our horses tend to bite," Levi smacked his lips nervously. "In the Marleyan military do you horse ride?" He noticed Sophie's cheeks were reddening, he could smell her next to him, her hair like lavender and the smell of her skin like grapefruit.

The crowd was getting louder and it was harder for them to listen to one another. Leaning in, closer than Levi would ever imagine, Sophie whispered to him her breath hitting his earlobes, "Unfortunately there's no horse riding in the Marleyan navy, but I use to back in my hometown. I live in the countryside back home."

"Oh wow, ok!" Levi blurted out, a little too eagerly. They both smiled nervously in that small amount of time, but nerves got the best of him and suddenly Levi turned around from Sophie and simply muttered, "Yeah well, see you around."

Confused at his sudden reaction, Sophie merely waved him goodbye and stood where she was, overthinking if she had caused Levi to leave. She had heard of Levi's infamous cleaning habits and hygiene standards, she figured maybe the hay on her slack was a turn-off to him.

As Levi walked away, Hange jumped from the side and grabbed him by his arm pulling him to the wall. "Levi, what are you doing?" Hange glided over and inquired to him in a hushed deep voice.

"I--- I got nervous...?" Levi answered, his heart was pounding. His eyes showed signs of regret and anxiety, then he continued, "She loves horses AND she smells great. She's the perfect woman!" Hange pinched the bridge of her nose, suppressing the incoming laughter from seeing a side of Levi she never witnessed before.

"My dear Levi. You must really like this girl for you to act like this," Hange replied calmly. "Listen, approach her again and invite her for tea, somewhere less noisy. In your office perhaps?"

Both of them looked back to Sophie who was pouting and muttering to herself, looking confused. Hange assumed she was probably in distress figuring out what had happened, maybe they'd be perfect for each other in their own way, she thought. Placing her hand on Levi's shoulder Hange leaned down and whispered to his ear, "This is for you Levi."

Impulsively, Hange took a bowl of peanuts from the nearby table and started to throw it to a clueless Sophie, aiming for her back. A naïve Sophie slowly turned around to find Hange, the commander of Survey Corps, throwing peanuts to her back.

"Sorry! I was aiming for the---" Hange paused looking for an excuse but gave up halfway. "The--- Floor! Yes, I was aiming for the floor. But yeah, now that I have your full attention--- Levi." Hange nudged forward a nervous Levi to approach her, Sophie merely stared back at him concerned, her eyes widen. Sophie wondered if she was in trouble.

"Yeah Hange was--- She was trying to aim for the---" Levi tried to explain, English suddenly a second language for him. With one big breath he blurted out the words, "Would you like to go somewhere quiet and have tea?" Sophie looked to him, her face bright red, her wide round eyes flitted back and forth.

"Yes, I'd like that." she glanced to the floor then back to his gaze. Levi could smell the light-fruity sweetness of her breath. "But only if you let me make you Marleyan tea."

Levi nodded and stepped a few steps back, but before doing so leaned back to Sophie. "Sure, meet me at my office quarters. Second floor, turn left, first door to the right," he said and took off.

Fun challenge for you based on your recent tags: Explain to me, someone who has never watched a single episode of the 100, why you ship Bellarke? I am curious, and I'm hoping this is entertaining for you to do lol

Oh gosh ok you asked for it, the flood gates have been opened. Sorry this took so long to answer but I wanted to explain it in the best way I could (or at least try to). I’m going to do a short version and a long version so people don’t have to read my entire explanation lol. Also I’m only going over the plot as it relates to their story, so there will probably be some holes.

Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake are soulmates, plain and simple as that. The growth that they have had since the first season till now has been a long and winding road. They were enemies then became co leaders then best friends and now are (hopefully) on track to admitting that they love each other. The amount of parallels the show draws between them is insane and they both have such a profound understanding of each other due to their shared leadership role and constantly being the person that the other one goes to when they need someone to comfort them. Time and time again they choose each other, even during some of the most difficult decisions they will ever have to make. Their growth almost always comes back to how they influence each other to try and be better people. Canonically, they make better decisions when they are together: The Head and the Heart. They cannot exist as their full selves without each other in their lives because their lives have become so intertwined with each other that they are fundamentally different people when they’re apart. No matter how often they’re apart, they always find a way back to each other. And if nothing else, the gazes and longing hugs that they give each other just oozes love and understanding.

Ok that was the short version. Here’s the Long Version🤪

Ok so Bellamy and Clarke definitely did not start off this way. From the very first episode they are at each other’s throats. Clarke is trying to be the practical leader to get these kids to survive while Bellamy is the dynamic leader inspiring these kids to “do whatever the hell they want”. They don’t see eye to eye and Bellamy even says he’s willing to cut off Clarke’s hand to get what he wants. This doesn’t change until 1x03 when Bellamy sees Clarke mercy kill Atom, another kid on Earth.

This girl, who he thought was a pampered princess, was able to make this tough decision while he couldn’t. After that they begrudgingly try and coexist together. Then “Day Trip” happens and Bellamy and Clarke go off on their own and almost die by a rogue delinquent. They kill him and while they’re recuperating Bellamy wants to run away from all the hardships and mistakes that he’s made. Instead of holding it against him, Clarke gives him forgiveness (“if you want forgiveness, I’ll give it to you ok, fine you’re forgiven”)

For the first time they are truly vulnerable with each other and make their first decision to lead together. This is the turning point. From then on they co lead together, sharing the burden and responsibilities of leadership and being the person that the other depends on. They don’t always get along but they learn to rely on each other. The season ends with them separated at the end of their first big battle. Clarke closes the drop ship door to save her people from the enemy and she thinks he didn’t survive the blast outside

Bellamy and Clarke are separated (a common occurrence that you will soon find out) Clarke is trapped in Mt. Weather and although the rest of her people are comfortable there, she is determined to get out and find out if the rest of her people -cough cough Bellamy- are alive. Bellamy likewise also starts to look for Clarke. Angst and drama ensues, but the important part is that we get our first ever Bellarke hug and man is it a good one (and an absolute fan favorite)

Like Bellamy is so stunned by the way she RUNS and wraps her arms around him and slowly after the shock hugs her back. But this hug cements just how important they’ve become to each other. From here on out they protect each other. Bellamy saves Clarke from being poisoned, he volunteers to go into Mount Weather and Clarke (originally) violently opposes it saying that “She can’t lose him to” in reference to losing the boy she loved, among other things (imo this is when Bellamy starts to develop real feelings for Clarke). Finally towards the end of the season when they face off against the “big baddie” they have to make the choice to kill hundreds of innocent people among the guilty to save their own people. An impossible choice, and Clarke being the self sacrificial puppy that she is wants to “bear it so they don’t have to”. But Bellamy won’t let her do that, they’re going to share that heavy burden. And they pull the lever together

So they return home, people rescued and the guilt hanging high above their heads. But for Clarke the guilt is too much to bear and she tells Bellamy that she has to leave. And Bellamy BEGS her to stay, even repeating that same line that she said to him in the beginning of the show. However, she leaves him and her people behind, which would lead them both down a path of hurt.

And hurt they do. Clarke leaving didn’t fill the hole of guilt in her heart, and Bellamy was left to (try lol) and heal his broken heart on his own. I will also say that both Clarke/Bellamy get their own significant other with Lexa/Gina respectively and this is because (imo) they both go down paths where the other is not in the picture I’m so certain that if they stayed togehter, they would’ve been together and that’s why they’re always separated. But then for the first time in the 3 months since she left, Bellamy finds Clarke, while she’s being taken captive and literally DROPS EVERYTHING to rescue her. When he finds her it is the most tender thing.

This is soon interrupted when Roan (her captor) comes back and Clarke BEGS him to save his life, saying “I’ll do anything. I’ll stop fighting just please don’t hurt him.” Bellamy gets stabbed in the leg and and Clarke and Roan get away. Unlike a normal person, Bellamy Blake is hopelessly in love and devoted to Clarke so he STILL TRIED TO GO AFTER HER WITH A HOLE IN HIS LEG AND WE GET THIS BEAUTIFUL SCENE RIGHT HERE

Cut back a little while later Clarke is safe in Polis with Lexa, trying to unify their two clans and Bellamy finds her again. He tells her to come back to Arkadia (their home) but she says she needs to be here (in Polis). This breaks his heart and is what sets him literally down a VERY DARK PATH of murder to try and justify a war (complicated stuff, what matter is he fucks up). Clarke eventually does come back to Arkadia only to find a very angry and heartbroken Bellamy who tries to justify his actions (You Left Me). They have a very Bellarke™ talk full of emotion and love.

And just when you think everything is going to be alright, he handcuffs her to a chair lol. And they spend a good chunk of the season apart.

When the going gets tough however, they know that they need each other. And after episodes of not speaking to each other they have another one of their Bellarke™ talks and hugs where Bellamy says “I was so mad at you for leaving. I don’t want to feel that way anymore” And then they hug like this, like c’monnnnnnn platonic my ass.

I’m going to speed up for the sake of getting to more stuff. But they end season 3 as they always do, fighting the evil together. Other highlights include Clarke’s (brainwashed) mom using Bellamy as her 1st choice to sacrifice in front of Clarke. There’s also a cute hand holding scene hgngnghngg

For all the angst however, this is the first season when other people call them out on their feelings (mainly Bellamy’s tho) for each other well Octavia already called him out during the first hug but that doesn’t count because She knows him too well. His other friends call him out for not being devoted to his old girlfriend Gina (who died) and Murphy comparing his feeling for Emori (his CANON love interest) to Clarke.

Ok, I know a lot of this post has been focused on Bellamy’s feelings and that’s mostly because Clarke has had a love interest in every season so she hasn’t had time to recognize her own feelings. However during s4, we get to see the extent of just how much Clarke means to Bellamy as well. There are a lot of moments in this season so I’m just going to try and focus on the big ones/my faves.

(This isn’t super important, but in the 1st episode of s4, Clarke is still grieving her gf Lexa who died and IMMEDIATELY AFTER, we get a cut to Bellamy like way to be subtle guys. no platonic explanation for this edit)

Ok basically what you need to know about s4 is that the world is going to end by a nuclear radiation cloud thingy called Praimfaiya and it’s up to Bellarke (along with some other peeps lol) to save everyone from it. So one of the things Clarke has to do is write a list of 100 people to choose for a potential bunker. So of course Clarke puts Bellamy on spot 99 but can’t bring herself to write her own name. So Bellamy who is sleeping on the couch wakes up because his Clarke is sad sirens are going off to tell her to put her name down. (If I’m on that list, you’re on that list) Still she can’t do it sO BELLAMY DOES IT FOR HER (because this boy needs her to be with him). and then he puts his hand on her AND SHE LAYS HER HEAD ON HIS HAND....so tender.

Ok so a few episodes later Bellamy (and Kane) get held hostage and Clarke has to sacrifice part of a large shelter that they need to escape Praimfaiya for them, it’s a tough decision but one that Clarke obviously makes. (Literally the only reason Bellamy was even taken was because Roan knew how much he meant to specifically Clarke). I can’t find a gif, but trust me it’s worrisome

Ok god next episode is when we start getting into that high stakes shit (THAT I LOVE). So basically Clarke and Bellamy are going to be separated AGAIN and right before he leaves Bellamy says this

LIKE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ARGUE THAT HE WAS NOT ABOUT TO CONFESS HIS LOVE TO HER LIKE CMON PEOPLE LOOK AT EVERY TROPE OF THIS EVER. Clarke of course was like “No, we will see each other again” but uhufhdjejdwkndwk he was going to say “I love you” in my book

Ok now towards the end of the season, most everyone in Skaikru is in this Bunker except for Octavia and most of the grounders (people on earth who survived the original radiation). I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this yet but Octavia is Bellamy’s younger sister and throughout the show he has sacrificed so so much for her and risked a lot of things to keep her safe. So now when Bellamy learns that Octavia is alive and outside the bunker he rushes to open the door for her. But here’s the catch: if they open the hatch, there’s a chance the radiation is bad and everyone in the bunker (THE HUMAN RACE) would die. However, because Bellamy needs to save his sister he’s willing to take that risk. For Clarke, that isn’t though and POINTS A GUN at him. But Bellamy says if she shoots she’s “going to have to make it a kill shot”. AND SHE CAN’T BRING HERSELF TO SHOOT HIM. CLARKE CANNOT KILL BELLAMY EVEN IF IT MEANT SAVING THE HUMAN RACE. Of course it was fine but still man c’mon.

And then later in order to try and lighten the mood, when they’re trying to drive the rover, Bellamy makes Clarke laugh and IS SO DISTRACTED BY HER SMILE HE CRASHES THE CAR. ok moving on

OK HERE IS THE BIG LEAGUE MY FAVORITE BELLARKE SCENE IN THE SERIES. So Bellamy and Clarke have this big heart to heart cause Clarke thinks she’s gonna die and it is the softest scene ever. So Clarke, thinking she’s going to die says “You’ve got such a big heart Bellamy. People follow you, you inspire them because of this (his heart). But the only way we’re gonna make sure we survive is if you use this too (his head aka what Clarke represents in their relationship” AND TO THAT RESPONDS “I got you for that” IN THE MOST TENDER WAY LIKE THEY’RE SO IN LOVE. And also they have one of the best bellarke hugs of the show.

So Bellarke and like 6 of their friends head off to the space station to avoid the death wave. However, the satellite that allows them to get in isn’t working, so Clarke sacrifices her self to go and fix it while the rest of her friends can go to space. Bellamy makes the HEARTWRENCHING DECISION to leave her behind in order to save the rest of his friends from the death wave. So Spacekrew go up to the station to wait 6 years until Earth becomes habitable while Bellamy grieves Clarke’s death.

Except she’s not dead

Clarke has special blood called “nightblood” that made her immune to the radiation. She spends the next six years on the only available plot of green land left with her adoptive daughter Madi (who has nightblood and she found when she survived the radiation.) So for the next 6 years CLARKE CALLS BELLAMY ON THIS RADIO EVERY DAY. This radio doesn’t even work, but Clarke calls him anyways to keep her sane and (imo) this is when I truly think Clarke realizes the depth of her feelings for Bellamy, because I for sure wouldn’t call my platonic buddy EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for 6 years (THATS 2199 DAYS) like c’mon

Ok so 6 years have passed, and Clarke is waiting for Bellamy + Co (Spacekru) to come back to Earth. But before Spacekru comes back, another ship lands on Earth full of escaped prisoners who have been cryogenically frozen for the past like 150 years. So basically they come to Earth, capture Clarke and hold her hostage, while Madi (her adoptive daughter) escapes.

Literally a little while later Spacekru finds their way back to Earth and stumble upon Madi who tells them Clarke is alive, much to all of their shock but ESPECIALLY Bellamy (cause ya know the love of his life is back from the dead). So he goes to find and rescue her his wife from the prisoners. When he finds her they threaten to shoot him on sight, but he has leverage. He can send a signal back to the spaceship so, he trades 283 lives in order to save Clarke because of course he does.

Bellamy and Clarke finally have their moment to reunite 6 years in the making and it’s as soft and sweet as you could ever expect it to be and they have another one of their classic Bellarke™ hugs.

Ok so happy ending now for them right? They’re finally back together !!! Well NOPE because after Bellamy was done grieving Clarke he got himself a girlfriend :))))))) named Echo (context Echo was an assassin/spy the “bad guys” until end of s4, then she went up to space w/ them) but Bellamys whole schtick is forgiveness, which he learnt from Clarke COUGH COUGH . Anyways when Clarke sees them making out for the first time she is let’s just say ~taken aback~

and the second time she sees them she looks straight up heartbroken !!!

Now that Clarke has finally realized her feelings for Bellamy he’s with another girl :///// But Clarke still holds a very dear position in Bellamy’s heart and we see that when he confronts his sister. Remember Octavia? The sister who he would do anything for??? Well now she’s kinda lost her marbles and became an evil dictator when she was leading everyone in the bunker. So now due to ~plot~ Octavia wants Clarke dead. Bellamy CANNOT have this happen. I mean he just got her back !!! And he pleads for Octavia to save her life and Octavia says this

HIS SISTER WHO KNOWS HIM BEST (well besides Clarke lmao) CALLED HIM OUT ON HIS FEELINGS. And the best part is that Bellamy doesn’t even try to deny it. Then he says “I can’t let you kill Clarke , O” AND PROCEEDS TO POISON HIS SISTER. THE ONE WHO HE HAS RISKED HIS LIFE FOR LIKE FOREVER (she doesn’t die tho) Bellamy choses Clarke over her without hesitation, and that has come a long way my friends. 

Ok while, we’re riding this high it gets kinda worse. So, remember Clarke’s adoptive daughter Madi? Well now Spacekrew wants to put this thing called the flame (ok sorry I glossed over it before but it’s really important to the show, I just hate it !) which all previous leaders of the grounder people had, in Madi’s head because she’s the ~destined~ leader (it’s confusing I know just roll with it). Clarke is like fuck no because she also hates the flame (queen) and doesn’t want Madi to become a leader and carry that burden. So Bellamy locks Clarke up to get to Madi, but then Clarke grabs Madi and leaves Bellamy to die in Octavia’s apocalyptic fighting pit to fend for his life.

Not looking great right? Bear with me for a moment lol. So flash forward to the end of the season and one of the prisoner dudes accidentally sets off a bomb that’s going to destroy the one green valley that was left. Bellamy is pissed at Clarke for leaving him to die, but Clarke was only trying to save Madi but doesn’t know how to fix this. Then Madi (our mini bellarke shipper) tells Bellamy how important she is to him. Like this girl probably watched her make these calls every morning, SHE KNOWS

And just like that Bellamy cannot be mad at Clarke anymore, because he realizes the bond and isolation and dare I say LOVE she must have for him to do that. So they all make it back up to space as Earth explodes for the 2nd time (RIP). So remember that prision ship with cryogenic pods? Yea so now basically everyone who is on Earth is going to rest in these pods until Earth heals itself. Except it doesn’t (at least not in the 10 years they had hoped for). So two of Bellarke’s friends and couple named Monty and Harper stay awake and spend their remaining years finding another planet to live on. And when they find one 125 years later guess who they picked to wake up first. You guessed it, the co leaders themselves Bellarke. So they have a tender moment watching the sun rise over this new planet

Ok this is the last season before we’re caught up but my god it’s a big one for Bellarke. Ok so the season starts off on this new planet and everyone is distrustful of Clarke for what she did on Earth to protect her daughter and make ONE personal sacrifice when she sacrifices everything for everyone all the time god Anyways, on this new planet due to this like “red sun” they hallucinate on the surface and Bellamy says to Clarke “I don’t need you anymore Clarke”(remember this it’s important). After the red sun fiasco, the actual residents of the planet show up (they were descended from an earthship that came there like 250~ years ago).

(I can’t believe I almost forgot to put this but Bellamy tells Clarke about the radio calls before they hallucinate and it’s such a whole some scene and helps to bridge the gap between them once more)

So the people show Bellarke + crew their customs which includes a ceremony where they repent and let go of their past mistakes. Clarke uses this to apologize to Bellamy for her actions as she declares to him “Hey, you’re my family too. I lost sight of that. But I promise I will never forget it again” like boyo that scene brings me to tears like fuck !!! and then once again they have a classic Bellarke™ hug and god it’s a GOOD one.

So yay, they’re on good terms !! That means something bad is about to happen again per usual. So it turns out the leaders of this group of people have been alive for 100s of years using these “mind drives” to back their consciousness up and put into new bodies when their current body dies (fun!). And take a guess as to who has the special blood and can be a new host :))))))))))

Clarke gets stolen and *dies* so Josephine can take over her body. While Josie!Clarke fools everyone for like an episode, guess who is the first to think ‘hey that’s not really Clarke’ ofc our boy Bellamy. AND THEN THEY GIVE BELLAMY AN ENTIRE EPISODE TO GRIEVE CLARKE LIKE HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKS THIS SAD THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE. way to be subtle JR

But then guess what !!! Clarke isn’t dead. She’s trapped in her own mind, but very alive. And you’ll never guess how Bellamy finds out. Josie!Clarke taps her fingers on her legs and Bellamy interprets it as morse code that translate into “ALIVE”. LIKE IMAGINE TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO SOMEONE THAT YOUR SUPPOSED DEAD WIFE BESTIE IS STILL ALIVE CAUSE SHE SENT YOU MORSE CODE, LIKE MY BOY I KNOW YOU LOVE HER BUT THAT’S QUITE A STRETCH.

Anyways, this sends Bellamy into overdrive mode, because goddamn it he is not losing her a 3rd time. Throughout the next episodes we see Bellamy prioritize Clarke over everyone, including his girlfriend Echo when she is in danger. He risks himself and even the lives of others to try and save Clarke to get Josie out of her head. And it all culminates to this masterpiece of a Bellarke scene.

Clarke’s heart stops and she won’t get up and Bellamy arguably becomes the most desperate he has ever been. He whispers, “the head and the heart” before LITERALLY BECOMING HER HEART AND PERFORMING CPR ON HER AND BANGING ON HER CHEST TO GET HER TO WAKE UP (HOW MUCH FURTHER CAN THEY TAKE THIS METAPHOR). Even when Octavia gives up, Bellamy yells at her that she’s not dead. “I need you” the first time he has openly admitted that he PERSONALLY needs her in his life. “You’re a fighter Clarke now get up and fight”. Clarke literally (in her mindspace) finds the will to get up and fight by hearing Bellamy’s voice. And like a miracle she wakes up and AN ICONIC AND BEAUTIFUL Bellarke™ hug occurs, even though it looked like she was literally about to kiss him !!!!!! Like tell me these aren’t heart eyes ?!!??!

So then for the rest of the few episodes Bellamy is still super protective of Clarke but they have to split up again because ~plot~. BUT WE HAVE ONE MORE GREAT HURT/COMFORT BELLARKE MOMENT IN THE FINALE. Clarke’s mother had just died, and who does she seek in a crowd for comfort: Bellamy...hopefully you know this by now. God they give each other such meaningful looks in this last scene and have another once again iconic Bellarke™ hug, but it’s a hug where they run into each other like from s2 !!!!! parallels

So they end s6 closer than ever and now we’re all caught up in the present to s7 and lemme be honest besides 7x11, it’s been a HORRIBLE bellarke season, but last episode has had things shake up finally god. So basically everyone assumed Bellamy was dead (including Clarke!!!), but *surprise surprise* he’s alive, but as they soon find out he’s been brainwashed by an evil cult. NOW IT’S CLARKE’S TURN TO SAVE HIM BY BEING HIS HEAD LIKE HE WAS HER HEART LAST SEASON (or I at least hope so). As of writing this post, Bellarke isn’t canon but I’ve been watching this show for 5 years and these two have such a hold on my heart it’s embarrassing, but I hope this explained to you why I and many others will be ridiculously obsessed when it comes to them hehe. Pray for us to be canon, we only have 5 eps left for this beautiful story to come to a conclusion.

I really enjoy that Voltron isn't forcing a romance right now, if they do plan on writing something I'm glad their taking it sort of slow, and aren't putting anything out there right now. What I am curious about is how they would fit in a romance, I heard there was going to be 7? seasons or so. It seems like they're very focused on the battle, so I wonder how they'll pull off intertwining romance with the missions and such. (I see more chemisty with sheith and shallura than any other pairing)

Honestly, I think the vein they’re going with right now is establishing strong friendships, that will later turn into romance through more subtle scenes (blushing, prolonged smiles, possibly hand holding, etc.), as well as concern over the other person on missions, teaming people up for missions, etc.

And I honestly think the most likely pairing to be canon will be kl@ance. Their relationship has grown and been developed more than anyone else’s, as everyone else was either on good terms/already cared about each other.

I don’t think sh3ith will happen given that in canon, Keith has said that Shiro is like a brother to him. While previously I could see evidence that Keith has a crush on Shiro (like how I can also see Lance having a crush on Shiro), sh3ith interactions lean far more heavily on Keith’s feelings, rather than both. There’s also the fact that, regardless of age discourse, Shiro does look older than Keith. Perhaps not seven years older, but he does look older. To have a canon romantic relationship develop between these two would be beyond odd, for a number of reasons - in fanon, however, go wild. Just don’t bring it into my inbox.

That same onsidedness could be said for Kl@nce interactions near the beginning of the series, as it was largely Lance antagonizing his one-sided rival, however, both boys have now reached a point where they can bicker and support each other in equal amounts. Given that many of the crew also worked on Korra, which ended on two bisexual women of colour beginning their romantic relationship after moving from being romantic rivals to friends, to lovers, I don’t think them doing a similar scenario with Kl@ance is much of a reach. Especially since so far, Kl@nce’s development has been handled much better than Korr@sami’s, in terms of actually getting progressive development every season.

So sh3ith is dead, and Kl@ance has a running chance. Now what about my babies?

Throughout s1 and s2, Allura and Shiro are consistently shown to be close to one another. They almost always stand next to each other, face VERY SIMILAR problems, have similar mindsets, they trust each other even when they disagree, hell, they both go into 1x10 with the intent of protecting each other. They have one-on-one scenes, Shiro comforts her on multiple occasions, Allura values him and his opinion highly. Setting aside the platonic relationships they have (Coran being a father figure to Allura, and Keith being a little brother figure to Shiro) these two are the closest to one another. This is shown, admittedly, in smaller ways in s3, but I expect s4 will be a return to this closeness. Given each of their personalities, however, I can see them realistically be developed as a side romance - which is to say, being in love and knowing it, but putting their feelings aside for the greater good. Due to the fact that the show will likely end with the universe freed and the Galra defeated once and for all, the time to actually have a relationship will have begun. I would be extremely happy with a shot of Shiro and Allura simply taking each other’s hand and entwining their fingers - a small, but meaningful gesture, signalling the beginning of their relationship now that they feel like such a thing is actually responsible, without getting in the way of their duties. (Or, of course, I’d kill for a kiss, but that might be too wishful). Either that, or, Shiro and Allura don’t simply end up with anyone. For me, it’s either each other or no one, so…

Before I bombard this post share my feelings about this, just thought I'd give a long ass essay quick brief from where i came from before falling into this ship hole.

My brother forced me to watch this show around January 2017. I had been shipping kl0nce at first not bc of their canon interaction within the show, but bc of how popular it was since it kept popping up on my dashboard on social media. But i had never joined in the fandom until almost the end of the year when kl0nce was mentioned in NST for being so popular in fandom culture.

So i dipped my toes into the fandom to see why klance was so popular, bc as i had watched s4, i realized that i barely see any romantic hints at all btwn keith & lance. Not even suggestive scenes like the ones i watched from animes with tons of fan services.

What happened after i watched s4 though is that Shiro & Keith's relationship caught my attention bc the show had repeatedly focused a considerable amount of screentime on these two.

I gotta be honest though. If it wasn't for (how i fount out) how the staffs had been HUGELY supporting Sheith in a romantic context since the very beginning, it wouldn't have crossed my mind that their relationship could have been interpreted as romantic btwn s1 to s5. I think that mindset also came from partially having to do with how the antis had been actively pushing their broganes headcanons all over the internet so that people won't even think Sheith could be taken as romantic (sadly, it works! For a moment. Lol).

The subtlety of Shiro & Keith's relationship has been so well-written & real to me that it feels completely organic; like a real relationship happening in real life where all their interactions feel so natural without being overdramatic or obvious.

I've watched my fair share of other medias with heavily hinted romance or queerbaiting & fan services & drama which heavily implies on what sort of interpretation they intend it to be for a particular scene or characters.

So i feel like to some people, Shiro & Keith's relationship is written out as either very nuanced, or very confusing; because the hints are extremely subtle to the point where it could be interpreted in completely different direction depending on who is watching them.

However, s6 has put all my doubts to rest. Before that season i still had been confused with what direction the writers intended for Shiro & Keith's relationship to be; Mentor/student? Superior/subordinate? Predecessor/successor? Brothers? Lovers???

What the hell are they really supposed to be? What are the writers trying to convey???

I personally decided that I'll let season 6 be the determining factor in how Shiro & Keith's relationship is supposed to be interpreted.

If that season would give some hints of a possible romance, then i'll take it that Shiro & Keith's relationship is intended to be interpreted romantically.

If there were absolutely no romantic hints at all in that season, then i would have taken it as Shiro & Keith's relationship was supposed to be interpreted platonically.

And BOI, s6 was one hell of a ride. ROMANTIC HINTS & TROUPES EVERY WHERE.

The parallels btwn Sheith & Keith's parents, imo, are astounding. The resemblance btwn Keith's parents to Sheith in terms of visuals alone is already kind of like an in-your-face hint. Add to that with how Krolia crashed onto earth parallels how Shiro crashed back onto earth, then Shiro wearing Keith's father's vest, & how the blade Krolia gave to Keith has been heavily intertwined with events involving Shiro throughout the series. Right at the beginning of s6, the hints have been heavily dropped.

Antis can try to scream familial & try to make all Keith's parents scenes parallel to k/0nce, but they ain't fooling anybody. Especially new viewers who recently went into the series & binged watched s1 to s6 without having been influenced by any of antis polluted & convoluted headcanons & pathetic ship war arguments for the past 2 years.

We've talked enough about flustered Shiro & the "You're my brother. I love you" scene so i'll skip over that. But the last scene where Shiro wakes up & fell into Keith's arms? While singling him out from the rest of the team? That's intentional, y'all. Season 6 has sealed the deal on romantic Sheith for me.

To those who still see them as platonic, you are valid too as long as you don't go spread hate & giving other ppl a hard time. Every one has unique individual experiences on relationships so u r free to interpret things as u see fit.

But to me, a person who rarely ships characters in shows & advocates more towards male friendship and brotherhood, Sheith has become too romantic for me to see them on that level. >///<

TL;DR As of s6, i think the writers have intended romantic Sheith all along. THAT'S WHY THE CAST & CREW WERE SO OPEN ABOUT SHEITH DURING THE BEGINNING OF THE SERIES. That doesn't necessarily guarantee canon Sheith though. They may have intended for it, but they may not necessarily have the green light (approval) to pull it through.

And that's okay.

I'll be a little salty, yeah, but Sheith will always be beautiful no matter what.

My Perspective on Shiro and Keith

(This is my opinion, it’s perfectly fine if you don’t agree with me! If that’s the case, I’d love to hear your thoughts.)

It’s my favorite Voltron ship, just wanna come right out of the gate with that one. But how I see it in the show, truly and honestly- Hear me out.

They consider each other brothers. They’re Close. They love each other. But most importantly, I see them as equals.

I’m not going to lie, I hate the mentor headspace. Pre-Kerberos I don’t; Shiro clearly took Keith under his wing when he brought him to the Garrison. As they got older it developed into something more- Close friends. Then to best friends.

Over the course of Voltron, they’ve become brothers. It’s proven by the first hug. By Keith saying you’re like a brother to me. And then Keith says you’re my brother.

Everything has been building up to that point in their relationship and that line is so, SO important. We know Keith loves Shiro. I’m not saying the I love you is any less important, but to me, the significance is more.

The I love you is attached to the you’re brother. You’re my brother, I love you.

And that solidifies the equality and closeness between them that has developed throughout the show.

The reason why I love the black paladins episode so much is because it’s the climax to what I’ve been seeing in Voltron- These two people who have grown so close and care about each other so much that they’re /family/. That’s why I love these two. Their equality. Their understanding of each other. Their unconditional love. The I’ll never give up on you.

If that sounds romantic to you, and contradictory to my statement that they’re family, then you’re seeing what I’m seeing. The potential for that to turn romantic.

It could flip on the flick of a finger or develop slowly like their relationship always has, which, if they do decide to take up the romantic potential, will probably be the way they’ll go.

When I watched Voltron I got invested because of Shiro and Keith. I never interpreted their interactions in the show as romantic (although I did ship it and had fun with aus on interpreting them as romantic), I always saw them as just best friends developing into brothers and I loved it. For me their relationship was like nothing I had ever seen before and I was so excited to see how they developed fully into family. Now? I see the romantic potential. After Keith piloting the black lion, after him going off with the blade of marmora, after finding Krolia, after spending two freaking years on the back of a god damn whale raising a space pup and bonding with his mom, and the most amazing episode of any show I’ve seen so far, The Black Paladins, I see the potential. Keith and Shiro could have a romance like no other- A romance of pure understanding, of harmony, equality, peace and softness. As one, they could truly be beautiful together.

But if the writers decide not to do that? That’s okay. They could not see it, or decide whatever else, it’s their story. And Shiro and Keith will love each other just as much. I love their relationship right now as much as they love each other dare I say, and I always will.
