DP x DC: The Most Dangerous Card Game

Ok so Danny has essentially claimed earth as his. And he is fully aware that there are constant threats to the planet. Now he can’t stop a threat that originates on earth (that’s something he’ll leave to the Justice league) but he can do something about outside threats. Doing some research on ancient spells, rituals, and artifacts, he cast a world wide barrier on the planet to protect it from hostile threats so they cannot enter. This will prevent another Pariah Dark incident. However, barriers like this come at a price. You see, there are two ways to make a barrier. Either make one powered up by your own energy and power (which would be constantly draining) or set up a barrier with rules. The way magic works is that nothing can be absolutely indestructible. It must have a weakness. The most powerful barriers weren’t the ones reinforced with layer after layer of protective charms and buffed up with power. Those could eventually be destroyed either by being overpowered, wearing them down, or by cutting off the original power source. No, the most powerful barriers were the ones with a deliberate weakness. A barrier indestructible except for one spot. A cage that can only be opened from the outside. Or that can only be passed with a key or by solving a riddle. So Danny chooses this type of barrier and does the necessary ritual and pours in enough power to make it. And he adds his condition for anyone to enter. 

Now the Justice league? Find out about the barrier when Trigon attempts to attack, they were preparing after he threatened what he would do once he got to earth. How he would destroy them. The Justice league tried to take the fight to him first but were utterly destroyed, so they retreated home to tend to their injuries, and fortify earth for one. Last. Stand. Only when Trigon makes his big entrance…he’s stopped.

The Justice league watch in awe as this thin see-through barrier with beautiful green swirls and speckled white lights like stars apears blocking Trigon and his army’s advance. The barrier looks so thin and fragile yet no matter how hard the warlord hits, none of his attacks can get through and neither can he damage said barrier. That’s when Constantine and Zatanna recognizes what this barrier is. Something only a powerful entity could create. For a moment, the league is filled with hope that Trigon can’t get through yet Constantine also explains that it’s not impenetrable. And clearly Trigon knows this too for he calls out a challenge. 

And that’s when, in a flash of light, a tiny glowing teenager appears. He looked absolutly minuscule compared to Trigon and yet practically glowed with power (this isn’t a King Danny AU though).

And that is when the conditions for passing the barrier are revealed. And the Justice realize that the only thing stopping Trigon and his army from decimating earth. The only way he can get through….is by beating this glowing teenager in a card game. 

Not just any card game though. The most convoluted game Sam, Danny, and Tucker invented themselves. It’s like the infinite realms version of magic the gathering, combined with Pokémon, and chess. And Danny is the master. So sit down Trigon and let’s play.

After Danny wins, this happens a few more times with outer word beings and possibly even demons attempting to invade earth, yet none have been able to beat the mysterious teenager in a card game. Constantine might even take a crack at it and try to figure out how to play. He’s really bad though. Every time this happens, the Justice league worry that this might be the time the teenager looses. Yet every time, he wins (even if only barely). 

Meanwhile, Danny, Sam, and Tucker have gotten addicted to the game and play it almost daily. Some teachers might seem them playing the game are are like ‘awww how cute’ not realizing this game is literally saving the world. Jazz is just happy they aren’t spending as much time on their screens playing Doomed.

Zaphira is human, there are no elves, as such, in this world, though humans tend to live longer than IRL and have differently shaped ears-

the shapes are rather diverse (example above) and culturally (so far) they have no significance, they are merely a trait just like different nose shapes or fantasy hair colors

the worldbuilding reason is that these are extremely diluted demonic influences- in the past demons were frequently in the human world, though largely in secret/disguised, and long time exposure to demonic presences can have varying effects, the most immediate and common being a longer life or wounds healing faster than normal; there might have been other long time effects but the only trait that stayed even after their disappearance is the ear shapes

(there was a mass extinction event of demons that wiped out all above a certain age, since demons generally dont die of natural causes their life neither depends nor revolves around reproduction so there were extremely few left and those were too young to keep most of their knowledge and culture alive, as they rarely wrote anything down; Shargon is of the current oldest generation and witnessed it happen, just like most now adult demons, Thor and Eadrya are both a bit older than him and thus the oldest living demons, which doesnt mean much considering the technically endless lifespans of them)

and to explain me including Shargon in a human appearance- hes the only demon that spends as much time in the human world as at home, largely to escape the others since they are not interested in going there and would otherwise attack him any chance they get (the human world is rather uncomfortable for demons to be in and they have better things to do than to chase him that far), while hes generally very weak compared to them, something he is very good at is shape shifting, mainly the speed of which, being able to shift between full demon and the smaller more humanoid form extremely quickly, or even mid forms that are a mix of both - even in motion! while for the others it takes them quite a bit and forces them to stop which is the main reason he keeps escaping them not able to keep up with his rapid shape shifting (though it does take its toll .. also a reason hes so skinny)

he is the first (only?) one that at some point will learn how to shift into a much more human looking one (depicted in the sketch) too, but its rather dangerous since it involves supressing and compressing his demon heart and system... which is what keeps demons alive (its somewhat like holding your breath for way too long) so the only time he would make use of it is in extreme situations, like avoiding detection by maschines that can pick up demonic energy or escaping shackles made of celestial silver (which drains their energy and can scar/hurt them permanently, like silver to vampires(?werewolfs?) in a way)

....the point is that if he shifts into a human form he has very long ears, meaning that is basically the extreme form that doesnt occur in humans and hints at the origins for those ear shapes being demonic exposure in the past

(general info doodle i made a few months ago) (i say au but idk it could become permanent in my daydream zone, Talon is meant to have his own canon but I like him too much and am bad at writing plots)

This is still a fairly recent development so the current needed-SOME-foundation lore is:

talon and al were as together as talon would allow at the time (so not really) but he liked Al most even amidst his anxieties about men. He leaves for a long while with no contact once he realizes he's getting toooooo comfortable with al, comes back for another round of comfort and gets attached again to both the guy he knew AND the guy's boyfriend

I dont think Talon actually likes being referred to as boyfriend by either of them, nor would he refer to them as his boyfriends, but the attachment and "role" is still there and that's what they loosely consider him (i have to explore this further, theres still a lot i dont know abt him) while also knowing he could just decide to leave again if he so wishes

Any Seeder headcanons?

hi!! i do not think about seeder a lot in a context outside of beetee, but i definitely have some hcs!!

she won the 30th at 15, and was the third victor from D11.

she was mentored by the second victor from eleven, lyrical barnett (17th).

her arena was a barren desert, and she won by laying down in the sand and basically waiting for death to come.

she didn’t kill anyone, but when the boy from nine stumbled on the spot where she was hiding, she accidentally led him into a den of vipers, believing it was safe to go that way. she still feels immense guilt for it.

the 30th was considered a complete disaster by the capitol and because of that, seeder was largely pushed aside by them for other victors.

her favorite color was yellow before she won, but after, she couldn’t see it without being reminded of her arena. now her favorite is light green.

she likes photography, and she bonded with woof over that (woof’s victor talent is photography).

on that same note, seeder’s victor talent is crocheting. she wanted it to be woodworking, but she was told it wasn’t “feminine enough”. she still does it in her spare time.

in terms of victors, she was preceded by cordelia lovera (D4, 29th) and succeeded by corduroy evans (D8, 31st). the two cords lol.

she’s closer to corduroy than cordelia, mainly because corduroy is from an outer district like her while cordelia is a career.

seeder dislikes careers with a passion, like the majority of the outer district victors do. she’s gotten better at not hating them all without even knowing them but it never completely goes away.

funny enough though, another bg3 blogger sent me two of these same questions just a day later, the tent question and also the one about hobbies, sooo in order to be able to get the art up in a post on its own, I'm gonna answer all but #2 here and then post a link to the second ask here! :D

3. What would their character quest be titled? Why?

Jahen's quest would be titled "The Lonely Ranger." his past experiences have left him avoidant of too much fame or prestige for his heroics or escapades, because he has learned the hard way that the trouble that comes with your reputation preceding you is not worth the come-and-go recognition of friendly eyes... at least, not when you don't have loyal allies you can turn to for help when things go south. he has been alone for a long time, slowly finding himself turning into something of a shadow in crowded places. not for lack of trying; he's very friendly! and very warmhearted. but his roaming has simply never afforded him the benefit of long-term friendships, at least, not until the start of the in-game story.

to that end, a lot of his personal internal difficulties stem from feeling apart, adrift, and extremely sore for care and companionship. I think there could be a pretty solid arc for him that dove into helping him feel real and wanted, or even just a worthy ally to stay at your side through thick and thin. especially if the player was willing to take an interest in his troubles beyond the role he played in the party.

9. What’s the significance behind your Tav’s name?

no significance at first! I had started the game initially wanting to play a different character of mine named Jorah, but after many frustrating hours in a no-facial-sliders-only-presets character creator, ultimately decided I couldn't get the model to look close enough to them to make it satisfying to play with them. so I changed tack and started adding different features to get a different character, but I'd already been thinking in my head the whole time "this is Jorah," so I ended up picking a similar fantasy name that also started with a "J."

in-universe there's a tiny hint of something signifiant about Jahen's name, only because his name phonetically is more "human-sounding," and his older brother's name I picked to contrast his to sound more "elven," so I could have there be a little extra flavor behind him wondering if his human father named him, and his ever-absent elven mother had named his brother, Ianvic. (when you say "Jahen" out loud it sounds similar to "John" with an extra vowel thrown in, so it rings as very human to me.)

16. What do they do for fun, when not adventuring? What are their hobbies?

Jahen loves simple pleasures. he'll find a town with a good inn or tavern and indulge in some fine wine or cakes and listen to the bards play their music. he has a little kalimba of his own that he plays by his campfires at night to keep himself company, and after an arduous journey of teaching himself how to read and write when he was younger, he's now got an never-ending thirst for new songs to learn to entertain himself. if given the opportunity to thumb through old books, he'll do so just to look for old verses to add to his evenings.

he's also very creative and inventive, and even though it does technically contribute to his adventures, he genuinely gets excited over digging around in the woods to find unique plants and mushrooms for either foraging or alchemic purposes. during any wild berry season you will find him knee deep in brambles covered in juice and lugging around a basket full of fruit. y'know that Wyrm's Lookout camp location you get right at the start of Act 3? it's got like 10 raspberry bushes. I was very pleased on Jahen's behalf.

25. What is something they would die on a hill over?

hmmm I'm gonna give a silly answer for this one 'cause its fun. :] I think Jahen would die on a hill over the best way to preserve food (like fish/meat), and he would be adamant that smoking and dry salting it tastes waayyy better than brining it. I feel like he could argue for a good solid 2 hours on this before running out of steam.

30. What does your Tav want more than anything?

honestly, I do not think Jahen knows this about himself, either before the in-game story, nor does he realize the reason why he's so happy after the game story is that he's finally had this fulfilled - but I think he most desperately wants someone to love. I think he wants to be loved too, and he does respect himself enough to not be taken advantage of in a close relationship, thankfully. but he has a lot of energy, a lot of passion for life, a lot of warmth in his heart and I think he went through a lot of genuine heartache not having anyone to pour any of that into for so, so long. any sort of bond would have fulfilled this for him, romantic or platonic, but the fact that he gains so many different relationships in such a short time has just set him ablaze in the best way possible.

Despite his cautious nature, Mousey will almost always eat anything at least slightly 'edible'.

(This landed him in the hospital wing in 3rd year after the Sallow twins convinced him Lacewing Flies were edible and tasted something of candy.)

BUT Mousey's favorite food would be cheese, any type of cheese. 😋🧀

10. What is his fashion sense?

Outside of school uniforms, Mousey doesn't exactly have much of a choice but to wear any hand-me-down jumpers or patchy old trousers he can get his hands on.

The McGregors, despite being a long line of pureblood wizards, fall quite short in terms of income. Much like the Weasley's, the McGregors have a big family and lots of things like clothes are just reused.

It definitely wouldn't be until later in his adult life til Mousey gains any semblance of fashion sense.. and the experimental phase would be... interesting.

17. What are his ambitions?

As a Ravenclaw, Mousey obviously has a love for learning and a general curiosity for just about anything. But above all else, he is very fascinated by wandcraft.

Mousey wants to learn everything he can about how wands work, which is a big part of why he hangs around Ominis so much! (He wants to know how Ominis' wand works SO BAD)

Mousey strives to be one of the most well-known wandmakers in Scotland.

What does her voice sound like?

Despite French being Milena's native language, and growing up in France, Milena chooses to cover up her French accent when at Hogwarts because she feels like it's polite.

She's spoken English for about her whole life, and she has a strange ability to speak in different accents with comfort and ease, so she doesn't mind the little front she puts up with the British accent.

The only time she really lets her French accent come out is with close friends!

Milena most likely would have zero outwardly reactions, even if it DID hurt. After so many battles and duels, you definitely harden up.

However, perhaps her high pain tolerance ceases when it comes to a burnt tongue..

Milena would find it absolutely adorable - most likely read it multiple times just because..

Although, while finding it adorable, she'd also be VERY amused by it, because anonymous love letters are quite childish to her.

Milena would be much more curious as to why it was sent anonymously rather than up front, why they were interested in her in the first place, confused all around.. rather than wanting to know WHO sent it. But - she'd most likely forget about it completely after a few days.

Samantha Dale would be the first person to know.. and she'd be SO invested in it. Someone's smitten with her best friend? You best bet she's otw to crack the case.
