No one can replace Nicklas Backstrom for the Washington Capitals, but Dylan Strome's coming pretty close.

The 27-year-old has taken over as Alex Ovechkin's center and has assisted on all 10 of Ovechkin's goals to open the 2024-25 season as No. 8 gets closer to Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record...

Strome also credited Backstrom for his support as he's found a home in D.C. over the last two and a half seasons. The two play golf together, and have had "a little bit" of discussion here and there about being Ovechkin's center.

"He was always very supportive, very kind to me... I've heard 1,000 stories about how great of a teammate he is and I got to witness that firsthand and how good he was for the Caps and for this team and as Ovi's center," Strome said. "Obviously everyone watched Ovi's goals growing up and he assisted on the most of anyone. So lots to learn from that."

None so persistent as Ankash the Phoenix Knight, lifelong loyal servant of the Master. Ankash wields the Knight Saber, sword of his late mentor, Koragg, and transforms using a mysterious claw-like morpher infused with his Dark Magic. She's the first person he kills after dean highbottom, once he's started climbing the ladder and she's outlived her usefulness to him, she's more liability than asset at this point

Her experiments have started going too far

Her mutts are too unpredictable, too volatile

Coriolanus cannot risk any more "accidents", not after Clemensia knows how ruthless dr gaul is, especially not when his name is as closely associated with hers as it is

But he also can't risk upsetting her by asking-or forcing-her to retire. She's too powerful for that, and she knows too much about him. No, she has to go.

She taught him too well for him to feel any loyalty towards her. Hell, she'd probably be disappointed in him if he didn't try.

(and succeed) (he knows just how tolerant volumina gaul is of failures) (her disappointment in his failure would be worse than her rage at his attempt) (this is probably her final test for him - to make sure he really is the ruthless, ambitious leader she groomed him to be)

(At least that's how he justifies it to himself)

She's old enough by this point that no one should suspect foul play if he's careful enough, and considering how much unsupervised access he has to volumina that won't be difficult. Coriolanus just has to figure out how to get the poison in.

Volumina is too smart to not realise what's going on on, so the best he can do is delay until it's too late for her to save herself. Coriolanus might be her protégé, the heir to her Games, but that doesn't mean she won't get rid of him if he becomes a threat to her

(Dr Gaul is already a threat to Snow, and he's not taking any chances. And at this point he has more to gain from her death than from her life)

When she realises she's dying she'll know he did it, and she'll go out laughing, raising her glass to him but really toasting herself, knowing she did her job right

I mean, all bits aside, I genuinely don’t believe Glenn was a bad person. Bad father is a little harder to defend, but in both cases, he has solely good intentions that are only brought down by his own naivety and avoidance. The way Glenn acts in court, I really doubt he’s faced any real legal trouble before, and he’s stated before that the most damage he’s ever caused was stealing a $15 dollar wine opener from a hotel room. Everything “bad” he does in the forgotten realms is in the interest of keeping Nick, himself, his friends and their kids alive, and I think it’s safe to assume that logic carries back over to his life on earth. He’s a single father who is ultimately doing his best for Nick, given his own knowledge of how to be a father in the context of his own childhood. He has no support system (pre-canon, at least) and, honest to god, he just doesn’t know any better. Free my man he doesn’t deserve any of what happened to him!!
