look i know that the post is intended to be a wee "gotcha", but jokingly saying "wow cant believe miku is AI slop" doesn't even hold up as an argument because 1. singers were part of the project and were compensated for giving their voice for the voice banks 2. you don't just type in a prompt and make a song. you need to have some know how to use voice banks and DAWs to make it sound how you want to, even for silly memes.

i've said before that honestly my main ethical complaint about the current way generative AI models have been created is that they are operating in a way any other modern company is, which is stealing your data online and finding ways to sell it. if it were actually just a true collaboration between people with learning models and artists who gave full permission for their art to be their datasets, i'd have no qualms whatsoever. even with permissions in place, unfortunately yeah people will use tools to be fucking disgusting, but that would be misuse of the tool, not something that was deliberately baked into certain models, such as taking likenesses of real women/children as training data sets because ~WhO cArEs, it's just data!!! you posted your face/art on the internet once so you agree for everything in your life to be used by dodgy companies and their bots just scraping everything about you and selling it off to people who can do creepy shit with it! :) thats YOUR fault! :)~

and because of the lack of actually working with artists/models/actors, that really shows the true intentions behind the current tech. is it any fucking coincidence some of the worlds most hated CEOs are all salivating at the propects and dumping millions into generative AI? why now there's ads CONSTANTLY trying to sell it to middle class business owners as a "solution" to avoid having to pay for us working class plebs? why it's emboldening right wing conspiracy fucks and NFT crypto cunts?

im not going to find the post again. im now vaguing a post that was vaguing some other post, which probably had even more context. im on the 5th layer of some type of onion or something

so i saw some post about US drivers and pedestrian safety. that was like, admonishing pedestrians for darting out between cars. and like, yeah that is really frustrating... i guess? im gonna be real with you though, this almost never happens to me. like its kind of a bullshit problem. at least in my life.

but the replies were fascinating to me. so, some people who dont live in the US very correctly point out "why dont you just drive slower, you'd be able to stop faster" and i pretty much think it should stop there. when im on streets with a lot of parallel parking and houses i drop my speed a bit and watch sidewalks for people. i do this every day by my house. (im not trying to make myself sound amazing here im still a dogshit driver, seriously. but people darting out behind cars is not a problem to me. fucking skill issue i guess!)

so people got really mad at this person in the replies and like. im mostly with the person saying to drive slower. but at the end of the thread it was all people arguing about if drivers are at fault or pedestrians. and generally i lean towards drivers being at fault for driving the giant metal machine. but no one wants to talk about what an actual road in the US looks like or how the *laws* overwhelmingly prefer and protect drivers.

so like, this commenter just says "people should drive like 30 kmh (20 mph)" and people got mad. unreasonably so. but i kinda wonder if they knew that 30 mph is typical signposting in the US, at least where im at. you can drive slower by choice (and piss off drivers behind you but who cares). but the reality is if the sign says 30, your typical american freak will drive 35-40 mph. you can individually choose to drive slower and not mow people down but it doesnt change the rest of society. im not trying to expect this random commenter to have the solutions to a country they dont even live in. but americans in the comments had fuck all to say about it and they should be aware of the laws and road design. they live there. all they did was complain about pedestrians and i think they should be, idk less dumb?

i know im just a random guy who thinks they have the solutions to everything. but your typical american's response to pedestrian death is actually "fuck the stupid pedestrian" or "thoughts and prayers THE COPS NEED TO PULL PEOPLE OVER AND TICKET THEM MORE 😡‼️" and i probably dont need to say why thats a terrible idea on this site to my 3 active followers.

like streets need to just appear narrower and allow less space for cars. people feel safe and emboldened driving at speeds that will just instantly kill anyone who is hit. cars need to be smaller too. some of this is beyond "individual choice" that you can lecture random people online over. you can choose to drive a smaller car and drive 15-20 mph in some areas but it doesnt fix wider society. it just makes you less likely to kill someone. and i say less likely bc youre still in a car on fucked up streets following driving laws that prefer your life over the pedestrian, in a culture that doesnt value human life whatsoever.

I too am a minor but tbh my bi-awakening was so freaking weird. Like, tell you what I was so sheltered from the queer community when I was young that I didn't even know it existed until I was 12. Even in my country gay people as well as bi people are taboo and are considered dirty, they are always shown as prostitutes and always having wild sex, they are always in adult movies and TV shows and I have never seen a normal, comfortable gay romance in my life. I only got to know about it on the internet. It amazes me how my parents are still trying to shelter me from this side of the world but also know and think that I know everything about it(It's the matter with everything honestly they never show me or talk to me about things like even normal things like studies and other things but expect me to know about it and if I don't they are surprised). At first, I thought I was a lesbian then I ventured out more and thought I was Pansexual but then with realization I think I am a comfortable Bisexual. All throughout my life I either didn't know what LGBTQIA+ was made to believe it was something "bad and dirty" but then I fell for my own straight best friend (tough days, will never tell her) then I fell for another one of my friends who was actually bi too, we flirt with each other a lot, I even asked her out on a date, it was pretty much settled but I couldn't tell my mom about the whole "date" thing and so I said just a casual meet up and study session and she declined and so I missed my chance, then afterwards the exam pressure started, I didn't have any time to do anything but study and then turns out she started dating another guy(Stings more because a few days ago she asked me if I had some beads for a bracelet, because she wanted to make couple's bracelets for her bf I had to painfully decline) but I think I am slowly moving on from her, though the progress fails each time I look at her again. But now I think I might have found someone on this webbed site, we are the same nationality and we have a ton of chemistry, but because of problems and that we are both minors there is no way to progress this relationship sadly :( (Also yes I am bi because I am still attracted to guys, just the wrong guys since the guy is an asshole with a nice face and great manners and flirtation skills, the problem is he's dating a girl I've knows since I was 12, but they got together on a fucking dare, tell me how long that's gonna last, still the amount of shit I've heard on this guy is terrifying and there is no chance whatsoever, pretty sad but oh well not the last guy)

Had a lot of loss in my life lately, so bad that I had talked to two therapists who immediately gave me the entire month of October off of work. And you could tell my mental health was bad. It wasn't "I'm gonna be at bliss and feel peace and love life and use this free time to take care of myself", it was endless amounts of alcoholism and caffeine. And nonstop suicidal ideations. And if you even HEARD the disgusting thing I have been doing lately, you'd absolutely choke on your own vomit, I tell you. I tell you!

Had a few GHETTO ass dates. Provider/generous types? Yes. Absolutely gross, manipulative, and weird? Also yes. Good lord, if it's not some guy trying to whip his dick out on the second date in PUBLIC during BROAD DAYLIGHT in a space where CHILDREN could've been around, it's a dude who gets salty that I don't wanna smash by the third date and tries to do weird shit like sucking my finger like a dick, to "seduce me", or attempting negging.

These men are.... deranged and ferally pathetic, it seems. (Not all bad though; bad enough that I absolutely hated them, good enough that I have some jewelry and nice pieces gifted to me and didn't have to fuck a man at all. You win some, you lose some! Lose some sanity, win an opal necklace with diamond and 14k gold along with a nice sparkly diamond set on the hands, ears and neck.)

And may or may not have lost my most recent job. Hard to say.

My manager was giving me shit for giving her my doctor's notes via Google Drive link versus emailing it to her, even when I mentioned my email was malfunctioning and not giving me the option, and her logic is idiotic.

Not to mention her attitude is terrible. She's the frustrating type that wants nothing over text, because she's a liar, and is quick to instigate rage, but will call someone else the non-communicator or the irresponsible one.

I called her immature and suggested she take her tantrums elsewhere, since it's not attractive. Said to contact me through a co-worker or email, and that my phone would not receive calls or messages from her, blocked her.

And the results of that? We will see.

If I had a nickel for each time I lost a job around Halloween because of a spiteful older black woman with an ego trying to be abusive my way..... I'd have ten cents.

Which isn't a lot, it's just weird that it happened twice, two years in a row.

And now I ask myself, "Alright, what can I do this winter, since I was in this exact situation last year?

Spiritual manifesting; trusting that it would all work out to the highest degree. Candlework, incense, tarot cards, all the fixings. All things are gonna work out in it's highest degree for me, and I am a magnet to opportunity.

Not being afraid of my bitch ass housemate. What could they do? Not jack shit.

Still taking care of myself like everything was fine. Showering every day, clean clothes ready, taking out garbage, cooking meals for myself, listening to good music and trying on cute outfits. Life was gonna suck regardless in some ways, but in other ways that could be tangible and keep me alright? I wanted to upkeep the good so I can always be prepared for the best and stay sane and ready at all times.

Scheduling dates. Helps with any food scarcity, (that's a ghetto sentence but I mean, bitch, if I'm extremely gorgeous and I have a rotation of men who wanna take me for pasta and lobstah, and if Jimmy has five apples..... you can do the math,) but also helps me get out the house and try new things. And I wanna be ice skating and decorating trees with SOMEBODY this year.

Feels like I'm on the right track. Amen.

But... well, Khan hasn't exactly seen him doing this, creating what looks like a door to a completely new place.

... This must be how they'd managed to get from the crash-site to this building in such a short amount of time. Stephen most likely had done the same thing back then before carrying Khan's injured body into the infirmary to treat him.

It starts to make sense. The more sense it makes, the less sense it makes at the same time, however, but... well, that seems to be an ongoing theme with the world Khan currently resides in.

So, after a moment of hesitation and watching Stephen step through the opening, Khan does the same. He is a bit more hesitant, though, stretches his hand out first as if he expectes to meet a wall, but his hand just slides right through the opening without any problems - or odd sensations, whatsoever. So Khan swallows, then picks up the courage to step through the makeshift-door with the whole of his body, finding himself in a completely different place once he's done.

This is... amazing. He looks back at the portal behind himself, showing the room they've been residing before, with a bit of disbelief written into his irises - then his gaze trails through the room he stands within now instead, impressed by how... well, impressive and grand it is.

The first thing Danny said when Jazz expressed her interest in interning at Arkham was:

“Are you out of your goddamn mind?”

To which she answered:

“It is said that you have to be a bit crazy to work in Arkham, soooo…”

Danny had to agree that her response was quick and true, but still he didn’t like her going to that madhouse and probably die because, I dunno, Joker woke up wrong or she tried to psychoanalyze the Riddler. He said this to her through the phone, hoping that she could imagine him pacing up and down the apartment.

“The security there is top notch, Danny, and the bat-fam is always one call away.”

“You know as well as I do that’s bullshit. The guards are human, some of those crazies are not.”

“That term is very harmful, Daniel,” she used her mom voice.

“Sorry. But you see what I mean, right? If anything happens I won’t be there to save you. Not in time, at least.” He could try and measure how long it would take to fly from his apartment to Arkham, just in case.

There was a long silence. He heard his sister breathe in, breathe out, like she was mentally preparing herself to say something.

“I… I heard, from other interns I talked to, that guard positions are always open. And that it’s super easy to get in.”

“Jazz. Are you-”

“Don’t. I know you. Don’t think I’ll ever forget the ‘visits’ when I started college.”

Danny looked down and stopped pacing. Maybe he was a bit overprotective of his sister. Maybe he freaked out for weeks after she moved to her dorm, complaining about how long it took him to fly there. 

He regretted nothing.

“Gotham is too far from Amity. I prefer cutting the chase and having you with me in Arkham than dealing with a helicopter little brother on the reg.”

He swallowed the knot in his throat. “Is this your sisterly way of telling me that I should get a job?”

“I gave up after you were fired from the Nasty Burger. Nasty Burger, Danny! Not even Val was fired, and she had another job and the Red Huntress business!”

“I know…”

Jazz sighed. “I’m going to nap a bit and then finish packing things up here. I’ll text you the site where you can apply for the guard job.”

“Thanks, Jazzy.”

“Don’t call me that. Love you.”

“Love you.”

Applying for the guard job at Arkham was surprisingly easy. They didn’t ask for good grades, only a highschool diploma. They asked if you could solve problems quickly and efficiently - easy peasy, he was Phantom and he had been in the hero business long enough. Also they required no criminal records or whatsoever.

Fortunately for him, Daniel Fenton was as clean as he could be.

He passed the initial online interviews and finally was asked to do a physical ability test on site. Once upon a time he would have considered enhancing his human side cheating (and he did not cheat); but after moving out from his parents’ house and being adopted under Sam and Tucker’s wings, he felt more and more comfortable with his ghost side bleeding into the human side. What was Phantom, if not an identity he used to justify a duality that wasn’t there? Daniel Fenton died in the portal and became something else, but it never was about two sides or two faces - he wasn’t human or ghost, he was both.

Somewhere along the way he stopped even changing to his ghost form to fight low level ghosts. He could access enough of his abilities with his human body; and it helped when he mastered The glare (Sam trademarked it) and the ability to project an aura of fear to scare troublemakers back into the Ghost Zone.

“You got the job, kid,” the giant of a man sitting before him said with a slightly confused frown.

“I’m not a kid. I’ll be 24 next month.”

The other man looked up from his papers, probably the physical test results, and looked up and down the scrawny form of Danny. Instead of feeling insulted, he just laughed.

“I’m tougher than I look, uh, um, sir.” 

The other man looked like he wanted to say something else, but gave up and shrugged. Danny guessed that he was probably expecting him to last very little.

“You start on monday.”

A few months into his new job Danny got the feeling that he found his calling. It was stimulating enough that he didn’t feel like dying all over again from boredom, and believe me, breaking fights between inmates was very entertaining; but also serious enough that he could satiate his obsession even so far from Amity. 

He had been worried a bit about this issue, promising himself that he would fly back on weekends and give a hand to his B-team (a name they didn’t like but he still referred to them like that); but with time the inmates of Arkham, weird enough, became part of his ‘people’ per say. 

It was a little bit like with ghosts - encounter, banter, beat up, return to the cell. The familiarity of the motions made the adaptation smooth and soon he felt comfortable enough to stop pretending to be human in the prison.

Jazz always told him to be careful with that around non-amity parkers. People from their hometown were used to seeing weird stuff and brushing it off as a ‘ghost thing’, but here, in Gotham, shining green eyes and sharp fangs was not going to be overlooked. And if people noticed, they would talk. And eventually reach the Bat’s ears.

Not good.

“And then I told that guy to mind his own business and he hit me! Can you believe it?” Danny came back to reality, nodding along. “Red defended my honor, because she’s amazing like that, but still we ended up here anyway.”

“Totally uncool.” He said.

“I know right?”

Danny sighed and checked his watch, knowing he had to move on with his patrol. “Hey, Harley, good talk. Do you mind if we continue after I finish my rounds?”

“Sure thing sweetcheeks,” she blew a kiss. “I will be here waiting.”

“You better.” His glare wasn’t The glare, but she still stuck her tongue at him and jumped down from the perch she had been swinging from.

He smiled from the other side of the bars, knowing that the other guard watching him from the reinforced door was one heartbeat away from a panic attack. No other guard dared approach Harley, with a good reason. The CAUTION tape on the floor indicating the minimum safe distance was also because of a good reason. 

But Danny? Danny could go wherever he wanted.

Weird enough he felt at home in Arkham. Which shouldn’t be something positive, he was aware, but the inmates reminded him so much of his usual ghost villains that he inevitably formed a bond with them. He also guesses that the fact that he was already dead deleted the fear factor - these mortals didn’t even know that ghosts were a thing and couldn’t dream of harming him in a way that matters.

Also, maybe, because he soon found out he was higher in the food chain than any of these people. So far no one emitted a predatory aura stronger than his, and he checked. Not even Killer Croc, not even Bane. The clown dude, Joker, he still hasn't met (he had been told it was a matter of time, if he survived until then), but as far as he knew, that dude was only human and in theory he couldn’t harm him.

(Anyway, he hated clowns. After Freakshow he hoped to never meet one, but the Joker was, like, the main villain in this place so yay, his bad luck strikes again!)

“Good night, Mr Fenton,” a voice called for him. He turned, finding Edward Nygma in his prison clothes cross legged on the bed. He looked bored. “I heard funny things from behind the walls today.”

“Yeah? Like what?” He walked closer. The other guard he was doing rounds with stepped away from the cell, one hand on the radio, ready to call for backup. Danny rolled his eyes. 

“No information is free, Mr Fenton.”

“What would be the price, then?”

“Give me a riddle.”

Danny’s eyebrows went up. “But don’t you know a ton of those? What could I offer that you don’t have?”

Riddler stood from his bed and walked towards the bars. “You are odd. That makes you interesting. Some new, something different.” He pointed at Danny’s feet. “For starters, I think sneakers aren’t part of the regulated guard uniform.”

Danny also looked down. “I love my shoes. What’s the problem?”

He left out that the shoes were ghost proof and wore them in case he had to fight a ghost (unlikely, but paranoia so far kept him, well, not alive, but on top of the game).

“Odd.” Riddle said the word like it was a compliment. “I’m still waiting.”

“Hmmm…” He thought for a moment. “I have no life but I can die. What am I?”

Nygma rolled his eyes. “A battery. You really suck–”

“Nope! A ghost!”

Riddler blinked. Danny blinked. The answer was a battery but he didn’t know any good riddles. He was more of a puny guy. 

“Did you hear about the Italian chef that died?”

“I don’t know if that-”

“He pastaway!”

Nygma breathed in. Breathed out. 

“You are cute. I’ll let you pass only because the death puns are funny.” He sighed. “Okay, I heard there was a break out planned for tonight.”

That erased Danny’s smirk from his face. His eyes glowed for a moment with a green tint, but Edward thought it was a trick from the fluorescents. 

“Is that so?” He tilted his head.

“The North block, I heard.”

“When?”

Before the Riddler could answer, the lights went down. The guard behind Danny shouted something about the radio not working. An EMP? The man’s heartbeat started picking up as he reached for the flashlight, turning it on and blinding Danny for a moment there.

“Huh? Your eyes…” The guard shook his head. “I’ll go to the Central room, stay put.”

Danny waited a few minutes, letting the darkness wash over him and the other inmates, who noticed what was going on and started cheering.

“So?” Nygma said. Danny turned, and could see perfectly well how the man tried to look towards his eyes, but was missing the spot by a mile. “Are you going to do something?”

The halfa smiled despite knowing that the inmate couldn’t see him. “Of course. I’d recommend you stay right in your cell, mister.”

“And if I try to escape in the confusion?” The bravery was only for show, Danny could hear Riddler’s heartbeat picking up under the soft glow of his eyes. Sam had told him it was creepy finding him in the kitchen at three in the morning, sitting in the dark, eyes reflecting light like an overgrown cat.

“You have the choice. But that would be a bad choice for you.”

He didn’t bother changing forms, not that he could actually hide anywhere secluded enough and not alert anyone with the shiny rings of light. Daniel Fenton in his guard uniform walked the hallways of the Asylum quietly recommending the agitated inmates to keep quiet.

They listened.

Maybe it was how no one heard or saw him come until he touched them on the shoulder.

Now in the North Block he focused for a moment, noticing where the quickest heartbeats were located. Shouts from guards and some gunshots broke the murmur of the nervous darkness around him.

Someone had died. He knew.

But at least he found where they were - the hunt was on.

Gravity could barely hold him as he ran towards where the soul left this realm, his sneakers not making any noise as they hit the concrete, brain working with all the extra information from his heightened senses in the dark. 

He found them.

They were four, the usual thugs, big broad men with guns and laughing and cackling at their last kill and what they would do after they got out of Arkham.

Down the hallway he could see the body of one of his colleagues - dead. His name was Carlos. He had a daughter. His husband was preparing a birthday party for him but it was supposed to be a secret. Carlos was dead.

“Where do you think you are going?” He said, letting his aura expand, eyes fixed on who looked to be the leader. “I suggest you go back to your cells.”

“Wha-”

“It’s the kid!”

“When did he-?”

“Go back to your cells.” Danny said again, not blinking even when they pointed their flashlights at him. His breathing was controlled, not letting rage consume him and do what he really wanted to do - which was pummel these criminals until they couldn’t eat solid food for months. It would be unprofessional.

“Or what, kiddo?” The leader said mockingly.

Danny hummed. “Or I’ll have to escort you back by force.”

He widened his stance, his mouth curving slightly up when the henchman at the back flinched. 

“Fat chance, shortie, we are getting out of this place tonight.”

“You can do that. But I will find you and I will drag you back.”

The leader laughed and pointed his gun at the guard. “We don’t fear the Bat. Why the hell would we fear you?”

He opened fire, his henchmen took that as a signal and opened fire as well, not caring about if they hit the other cells or another person. They fired until the clips were emptied, and then they waited for the smoke and debris to settle and check that the guard was dead.

Danny clicked his tongue from behind them.

They turned, for a moment noticing the glowing green eyes on the guard’s face. Weren’t they blue a moment ago?

Danny's smile was predatory, from ear to ear, teeth unnaturally white and suspiciously sharp. “That was a bad choice.” He tilted his head, but the rest of his body was eerily still. “You should have gone back to your cell.”

The would-be-escapees screamed, throwing their guns away and turning to run. Danny was there again, green eyes looking down at them with barely reigned in fury.

“No running in the hallways.” Was the last thing they heard before everything went black.

Danny blinked when the lights came back on, ignoring the uncomfortable switch from night vision to his normal human eyes. 

“Rowdy night?” Harley looked up from her book with a knowing smile. She probably knew by now what had happened, it took ages to calm down everyone and restore order in the whole prison.

Danny sighed deeply, letting his body slide down the bars of his new friend’s cell. She reminded him so much of Ember, or at least, the Ember he got to know after she stopped trying to take over the world.

“Mondays, am I right?”

The inmate snickered, approaching him to sneak a hand through the bars and pat his head. “There, there.” 

“Is it always so tiring around here?” Danny tilted his head, angling it to see Harley’s face when she smiled.

“Sometimes it is funnier. Sometimes the Joker is here and everyone is tense.” Her mouth curved down a little when she said his name. “But something tells me with you around here things are going to change.”

Danny hummed in response, letting the pats calm him down a little. A colleague had died and he thought, because that’s how he was, that it was his fault. He could have prevented that if he had been more aware, if he had heard about the escape sooner. He had let his guard down, relaxed, thinking that Phantom wasn’t needed anymore.

He couldn’t have that in his new haunt. Things were going to change, and maybe this time Danny Fenton could make a difference.

 “As expected of master Saitama’s sibling”

 Two canary yellow orbs meet your (e/c) ones as you look up from your phone.

You were waiting on the bench at the train station for your close friend to show up, and as soon as you saw the blond man you couldn’t help but smile.

You joyfully waved at him before you stood up to greet him with a warm hug, to which he smiled gently.

“I apologize for the wait,” he said, slowly letting go of you, “master Saitama thought it might be a good idea you and I spend some time in the city before we go eat dinner at home. Is that alright with you?”

“Yes of course! I’d love to spend the day with you,” you smiled at him and took his hand.

He’s lucky he doesn’t have the ability to blush, otherwise he’d constantly have to hide his face from your loving gestures. Nonetheless he could still feel his face heating up.

He smiled back and took hold of your hand as you two left the crowded train station. This wasn’t the first time you two went out, actually you’ve been dating for a while, and your feelings for each other were crystal clear. Genos being Genos, when Saitama first introduced you it took him a bit to warm up to you, but ever since he saw your true, loving side he couldn’t deny the butterflies in his stomach.

You were the only person he treated with similar respect as he did Saitama. He would constantly call you to make sure you’re doing ok, rant about his missions to you, go shopping with you, and well, any activity that you’d want, he’d be more than up for it.

The two of you decided to take a stroll around the city until dinner is ready, because surely it wouldn’t take your brother too long to make it. But even though you’re just walking around, the mood is calm and refreshing. You can always count on returning home satisfied after a walk with your Demon Cyborg.

You two came across a fountain, one where you’d always enjoy sitting and looking at it’s beautiful, modern decorations. You two sat next to it, as usual and began chatting about your day. Genos is all ears when you have anything to say, even if it’s just bland things you do routinely. However, the poor boy’s prone to losing focus on what you’re saying after a while because all he’s doing is staring at you, taking in your alluring features. He could get so into it and not even notice he’s been staring at you for 10 minutes. Such as now.

“Um, Genos..?” you give him a small, nervous wave and giggle.

“Oh, I apologize y/n!” he jolted, returning back to reality, “do not worry, I heard what you were talking about.” He added, somewhat bashfully.

“It’s alright!” you chuckled, but were cut off by an earsplitting roar from behind.

You quickly turned around, only to see a monster demolishing the buildings in it’s path. Genos already had his fighting stance and weapons ready.

“It looks like a threat level demon to me. Stay here, I’ll take care of it in a moment,” he added, but before you could say anything he already darted towards the threat.

He said it was just a level demon threat, but you couldn’t help but think otherwise. It looks like it’s even higher than demon, if not dragon. It always worried you how reckless and brash he could be, and this case wasn’t any different, so you quickly ran towards him so he wouldn’t get hurt.

The monster wasn’t colossal, it was the size of a smaller bus, but the aura it gave off was way more menacing, definitely not to be taken so lightly.

You were trying to locate the blond man but there was so much dust and debris flying around you had to protect the remaining defenseless citizens at the site first. All you could hear in the meanwhile was the constant, heavy sound of clashing metal and flesh.

And just as the dust cleared up you saw finally saw the cyborg, clearly taken damage from all the attacks, still taking a stance with his one remaining arm. It wasn’t about speed, or immense, raw power. During his encounters with Sonic and numerous monsters he gained way more of both during the last couple months. However, this opponent was different, it’s electromagnetic pulse made all types of machinery ineffective. It wasn’t even that overwhelming, but rather the worst match-up for any type of machinery whatsoever. Before Genos could make another move he was thrown into a wall by his foe, it’s four ghastly eyes now staring at you, murderous intent swarming in the air around it.

Just when Genos was about to step in again he was jolted by a loud ‘‘thump’’, as the monster dropped before him, you standing right behind it’s bleeding body. He stood there for a few moments, trying to process what had happened, his face frozen in confusion until you finally managed to approach him to see if he’s ok.

“Did you.. do that?” he asked, “what just happened?” he continued, still bewildered at the fact that the monster he had so much trouble with is now dead in front of you two.

“I uh, did it yes,” you chuckled nervously, now looking at his damaged body.

“How did you do it?” he asked somewhat loudly, not being able to comprehend you did that. He knew you were an excellent fighter, but he never really saw you in action like this. This feeling, it was like the first time he saw Saitama defeat Mosquito girl while he was laying on the ground, on the brink of death. It was a whirlpool of turmoil, shock and amazement.

“I just beat it’s ass, it was no problem really!” you laughed, “I guess it’s ability wasn’t a really good match for your cyborg counterparts, so please don’t blame yourself,” you added caringly.

He still stood there, unable to comprehend the situation in front of him, but snapped out of it as you took his hand.

“We should give Dr. Kuseno a visit before we go eat dinner, don’t you think?” you added light-heartedly, but you were serious about it, Genos’ state like this was making you worry after all.

“Right..” he answered, taking a good grip on your hand again, “thank you.”

You smiled again and placed a quick peck on his cheek as you started walking, to which he smiled softly.

“Well, what was I surprised for anyway, y/n is after all master Saitama’s sister.” He thought to himself, that smile not leaving his face.

On hiding stories and plagiarism

Good morning, everyone. As you have been aware if you're in the EM community, there has been some plagiarism trouble and entitled hate going around for days. My support is, of course, with all the affected writers and friends who have seen their story translated without their consent and afterwards they've had to manage the hate they were receiving.

This has triggered something in me, too. Because I have been plagiarized in the past (multiple times). If you want to read the whole things, it's up in an author's note in Rotten Judgement.

I am not down for this to happen again, and so I am taking my little actions:

- I have only two social media: Tumblr (onwriting-hrarby.tumblr.com) and AO3. I do not have a handle on any other site or writing site. If you ever see my stories up there, it is not me, and most probably I haven't been contacted to translate or share (which I don't have a problem doing, if I'm credited accordingly).

- A lot of you are reading "Rotten Judgement" because you came across "Instead, they said" before. You may or not have noticed, but "Instead, they said" has been hidden for months, now (after what happened in May, actually). The same thing will happen with "Rotten Judgement": after I finish the story, I'll leave it for a month, and then hide it. I never know whether I have bigger plans for the future with this, and I've learnt the hard way. I will still keep my shorter fics (more to come!) and "I did not live until today", which I plan to edit soon, if you want a longer story.

- From November onwards, "Rotten Judgement" will only be accessible to registered users. I am terribly sorry for this because I was an unregistered user for a year. I need to tell you, though, that having an account on AO3 is one of the best things I did: I can subscribe to authors I like and get notified! I can subscribe to stories! I can interact with others! Consider having an account. I know maybe the plagiarists are, in fact, registeredusers. But any control I can have on my stories is good for times like this. I am sorry.

- I thank you all for the support I have here. I cannot say it enough, and I will not repeat it enough: this has been the safe place for me to write and share things with you (as you can see, I deactivated my Twitter), and the comments that you leave me in here, the kudos, all the beautiful, beautiful words you say to me are most motivating and amazing.

(Having said all that, I guess I shouldn't be afraid of getting plagiarized: first, because I do not feel entitled whatsoever or really think that what I write is so good to be plagiarized, but even if I thought about it, this story is damn long, and kudos to you if you have the patience to go over it to translate it or to put it up anywhere else! Damn! I should even be flattered. But I am not: this has triggered my sadness and disappointment from before, and I do not wish to happen it again. I am not as famous as the writers who were plagiarized (incredible writers, I need to say; some of them, incredible friends, too), and I do not think my prose has it for it to happen, but better safe than sorry.)

Hi! No, I won't stop making gifs for this blog, but I have been less inspired lately and I'm more active on my other blogs. To compare the two wouldn't be right, as the gk tag isn't that big, but when you put time and effort into a gifset of a movie/series you love and you get more engagement it's just different. Like I never would've imagined one of my posts there would get over 900 notes, that's just crazy to me and it motivates me a lot more to make stuff. To put it simply, I still enjoy making gifs, as that's the first and foremost reason as to why I do it, yet the moment you do get engagement and other users love the thing you made, sharing said thing so other users can see it and/or love the thing you've made with their own tags and insight, it makes the whole tumblr experience a lot more fun.

Of course, I experience that here too, and there are lovely peeps hanging around here, but it's sad to see really amazing gifsets/edits that I know must've taken hours to make by just looking at it, not getting the engagement, and thus disappearing into the tumblr void. Like the only thing I can do about it is put stuff into the hbowardaily queue but that also takes time and I don't always have the time and energy of the world lol.

For example, I scrolled through my blog real quick and these are the notes on a bob gifset and a gk gifset. Likes are nice, and every creator must adore everyone who even wants to look at their stuff, but it isn't how this website works.

Anyway, no worries anon!! I understand it's probably mostly new users who just don't know and that's fine. I rb'd the post because it is bothering me again lately and I thought maybe some of my followers would have some use of it to better understand this hellsite. I see you blank blogs lol 👀. I'm just afraid that if this continues, there won't be a tumblr anymore after a few years because it can't function properly, and then where do we go? Not twitter lmao.

Christmas Prince Movies

Ever since I first saw both these movies and in light of news of an upcoming sequel, I can’t get over the strong similarities and differences between the Christmas with a Prince and A Christmas Prince film series. It’s amazing how these films are so much alike in so many ways, but are yet still so different. They have both amazing characters, chemistry, stories and of course the spirit of Christmas and the romances make it all the more beautiful.

Characters

Tasha Miller (Christmas with a Prince) and Amber Moore (A Christmas Prince) are the main female protagonists who fall in love with the princes of their respective movies.

Alex (Christmas with a Prince) and Richard (A Christmas Prince) are the male protagonists and titular princes. They are both claimed to be party boys and womanizers, but they are actually more caring and down-to-earth as they struggle with assuming the throne while finding themselves falling in love with Tasha and Amber.

Princess Miranda (Christmas with a Prince) and Count Simon (A Christmas Prince) are the main antagonists. Miranda is a spoiled princess from a neighbouring country who is trying to steal Alex away from Tasha while Simon is Richard’s cousin who is trying to steal the crown from him. The difference between them is Simon reforms by the sequel while Miranda does not.

King Edward (Christmas with a Prince) and Queen Helena (A Christmas Prince) are the rulers of their countries, San Savvare and Aldovia and parents to Princes Alex and Richard respectively. Following the deaths of beloved family members, King Edward and Queen Helena urge their sons to take on their royal responsibilities. They also have a slightly bumpy start with their future daughters-in-law which eventually improve and then happily welcome the girls into their Royal Families.

Jeff & Bella (Christmas with a Prince) and Andy & Melissa (A Christmas Prince) are supporting characters who are close to the protagonists. Jeff is a nurse/Tasha’s older half-brother and Bella is Alex’s personal assistant/bodyguard while Andy and Melissa are two of Amber’s best friends. The friend groups are aware of the couples blossoming romances and happily support and encourage them to follow their hearts and even find true love themselves along the way.

Similarities

First the obvious similarity is both of these are Christmas movies revolving around a prince and common girl falling in love and as the films progress it focuses on the growth and development of their love stories as they must find a balance between their love and royal duties and not let it affect their relationships.

All their films storylines are almost exactly alike. The first is where the couples meet and fall in love, the sequel is about them preparing for their Royal Weddings and the final film focuses on them preparing for the birth of their children.

In the second films, both couples are preparing to get married, but there are people who are causing problems, whether they are trying to tear the couple apart or taking control over planning the royal weddings.

Both Tasha and Amber were close to their deceased mothers and are sad they won’t be there for their weddings.

Both Alex and Richard are still mourning the loss of their beloved family members who recently died prior to the first film and are reluctant and unsure when they become next in line to assume the throne.

The main antagonists, Simon and Miranda have somewhat similar goals. Simon is trying to steal the crown away from Richard and Miranda is trying to steal Alex away from Tasha.

The sequels take place one year after the events of the first films.

Aside from the main romances, the films also have secondary couples. Jeff and Bella (Christmas with a Prince) and Simon and Melissa (A Christmas Prince). Jeff and Bella become a couple by the end of the first film while Simon and Melissa begin a relationship in the sequel and get engaged in the final.

San Savarre and Aldovia are trying to negotiate peace with a fellow neighbouring country, but both the treaties are threatened. In the final A Christmas Prince film, the treaty is stolen while in the sequel to Christmas with a Prince, San Savarre’s treaty is troubled by Miranda’s meddling in her attempts to blackmail Alex to marry her instead of Tasha.

Tasha and Richard both have siblings and are very close with them. Tasha has an older half brother, Jeff who is close friends with Prince Alex and Richard is the older adoptive brother to his younger sister, Princess Emily who becomes close with Amber when she becomes her tutor.

Both Tasha and Amber almost called off their engagements to Alex and Richard, but for different reasons. Tasha knew that Alex was being pressured by Miranda’s meddling that also effected his royal duties and decided to put his well being and his countries ahead of their relationship. Amber was upset that Richard began neglecting her whilst feeling immense pressure from the royal family, forcing her change everything about the wedding and herself.

Differences

A Christmas Prince are Netflix original movies released on the streaming site while Christmas with a Prince are television movies released on UPTV, a channel in the United States.

Tasha and Alex already know each other when they went to boarding school together while Amber and Richard met each other for the first time in the first movie.

Alex and Richard both have very different situations with their royal families. Alex lost his older brother, Arthur a year before the events of the first film, his mother is deceased and he had a strained relationship with his father until they reconciled. Richard was unaware he is adopted, has a younger sister and is close with his mother while his father recently died in the first film.

Tasha is a doctor and Amber is a writer/journalist.

Tasha and Alex got engaged at the start of the sequel while Amber and Richard got engaged by the end of the first film.

Tasha has an older half-brother and Amber is an only child.

A Christmas Prince released their films every year on Netflix from 2017-2019 while Christmas with a Prince released their films from 2018-2019 and took a 2 year a break until returning with their final film in 2021.

Simon is the main antagonist of the first film until he reforms and is replaced with a new villain by the sequel while Miranda is a minor villain in the first film and doesn’t take on a more antagonistic role until the second.

A Christmas Prince went through a few casting changes (Amber’s father, Rudy) by the time of the sequel while Christmas with a Prince didn’t replace any of the cast members whatsoever.

In the Royal Wedding sequels, Tasha and Amber have different experiences planning their weddings. Tasha’s plans go very smoothly from picking her dress to selecting the cake with Alex by her side while Amber hardly has any control in the planning and is almost forced to have an extravagant/traditional wedding while Richard doesn’t support or help her in the preparation.

The public had very different opinions about the royal couples. The people of Aldovia were happy and accepted Amber and Richard’s relationship while the people of San Savarre were unsure of Tasha and Alex’s love until the end of the sequel.

Tasha and Amber had different engagement rings. Tasha’s was ruby red and Amber’s was a blue sapphire.

Anon, not only is everything you said absolutely valid, but also, thank you for demonstrating that triggers are incredibly varied and as such, we cannot predict everyone's triggers. Making the entire "point" of banning for possible triggers invalidated as hell.

We should be aware of things like the most commonly occurring phobias (things like arachnophobia and coulrophobia that are, additionally, easily triggered by imagery) and tag them. We should be aware of very obvious triggers, that are, again, easily set off by imagery, like blood, eye trauma, and depictions of domestic violence. And we should always read and be aware of our writing partners' stated triggers so that we can tag them appropriately or even decide that it isn't going to work because our muse, canon story, or interests are going to present an unfair situation in this partnership.

But triggers can be highly unusual, as well as activated differently (even at different times) for everyone. I'm not triggered by seeing hotel rooms in pictures or movies, I'm not triggered by writing scenes that take place in them, but I'm triggered to some degree by being in one. It's outrageous oversimplification to act like all triggers are the same, they all display the same way, they're all going to trigger someone on the same basis, everyone's going to react the same to their triggers. There is absolutely no way to prevent 100% of possible triggers for 100% of the population, 100% of the time.

Add to this that way too many people trivialize triggers by throwing around that term to justify the banning of something that makes them uncomfortable or that they take a personal, moral issue with. "I don't like this" and "I'm grossed out by this" and "this makes me feel uncomfortable" is not being triggered. It's just a good way to weaponize the better nature of other people so that they comply.

Most people legitimately do not want to trigger someone, especially if they have triggers and know what it's like. Just like no one wants to be accused of cruelty towards trauma survivors in general, or be designated a pedo, rape apologist, or fascist. They're all things to weaponize in order to isolate, shame, and control. And that's really fucking gross. These are serious, real things that have no business being trivialized to police content, win internet arguments, or garner popularity.

The potential for someone to be triggered isn't a reason to ban anything; we have tags, we have blacklist.

Furthermore, dubcon itself is such a hilarious issue to take. Do they realize that isn't always sexual, or? Not? I'm thinking not. Funnily enough, one of the oldest posts I've been working on for this blog is about exactly this topic, the myriad situations that are dubious consent. That doesn't have to be sexual, and neither does it have to be intentionally predatory. You can come up with some amazing character development with a lot of muses in the RPC with dubcon because almost everyone's muse has some manner of trauma that might negate their perception of their own consent...and what do you do then? Is it removing more agency from that muse to shut them down, or is that always the better option? Can you separate your opinion as the mun from your muse's natural reactions? How does this impact the muses involved not just that moment but the next year?

Point is, dubcon isn't always some rapey situation. Even if it was, even if someone is writing it that way, it's literally not your business or your problem.

There's one mutual-in-law on my RP blog that really bothers me. They write things that I find fetishizing, incredibly rapey, all around shit that bothers me. I don't want to see it, some of the things they write makes my damn skin crawl. This person doesn't know it, we certainly don't speak and I don't think they like me very much, but I've repeatedly defended their right, specifically their right as a person with some long-term callouts on them, to write what they want to. I have them blocked and their urls blacklisted so I never have to see my mutual reblogging their threads. It's not a problem because I don't click "show anyway." Why would I, if it genuinely bothers me so much?

That's how you handle things that bother you; you use the tools available to not interact even by accident. Not by launching a morality crusade.

If any of us want to write what we enjoy, we have to allow others that same freedom. It's always a matter of time before this policing grows to include more and more topics, it's been used multiple times to get well-meaning people who don't fall into the general demographics to police queer, BIPOC, and other marginalized groups off of platforms. We've been fortunate in most of the RPC that it implodes on itself before it gets all the way there, but even so, you can see it.

It starts with things that produce a visceral reaction in the great majority of people, positions this with a repeatedly condemned idea presented as solid fact that fiction is reality, and you've got the start of something awful. Today it's something you don't like, maybe even something that triggers you, so you either support it or you quietly allow it to happen. Who needs to write that "freak shit" anyway, can't they just be gross privately? Six months from now, it's something "problematic" that you enjoy like violence that's canon-typical for your muse, or your OTP because they're gay and that's fetishizing, they're cis male and female but one or both is bi and that's bad representation, or they canonically have a rocky relationship so that's romanticizing toxic/abusive relationships.

If you can't care for any other reason, you really should care about how it is going to impact you sooner or later. In an environment like this, you can stay in your space, put warnings on your blog, and tag properly and you're still going to get a callout if the wrong person finds your blog. Just takes a single person with more time, energy, and skewed ideas of justice than they have reading comprehension or common sense.

Again, I cannot encourage people enough to give warnings, but it's difficult to ignore why those warnings are slipping; they're a way to be found, designated as a Problem, and called out. Look, it's another reason why callouts actually make things worse, not better! People put that shit in their rules so you can avoid content, they're being responsible and interested in promoting a safe RPC. Let them do it, damn.

You can't tag everything, and if you've never experienced what a giant series of repetitive tags is like on a screenreader you probably should before you tag seven paragraphs of possible issues. You can tag for visuals, you can tag for the obvious things, and you can tag for what's in the rules you agreed to when you followed/followed back. But you should also warn people that you write "dark topics" on the tin, and expand on that in your rules for specific things like graphic violence, toxic relationships, dubon, and addiction.

That's how responsible adults, not over-aged children, make better decisions about their mental health and general comfort. Not by appointing themselves the watchdogs of the damn RPC, here to protect you whether you want to be or not, find that incredibly insulting or not when you're in one of their categories of people who must be protected, by forcibly banning Problematic Everything. Problematic, of course, being entirely in the eye of the content police.

It's fiction. No one and nothing real was harmed. It's great that you are so invested in the fictional world and people that make you happy, but take a fucking big step back into reality. The real people you're harming with your bullshit had every right to peaceably exist. If what they're writing is triggering to you, stay. away. from. it.

Without any coincidence whatsoever, that's how you get from the base-point of Problematic Material to Problematic Mun. Yeah, it's just fiction, it's just RP, but I also took something out of context OOC or was upset by their tone on their own blog or couldn't exercise the minimal adult logic to remove myself from their presence OOC as well. What are the most storied callouts in the entire RPC? I'm absolutely certain the same names came to mind no matter what fandoms you're in, and one of them was "Matt." Another was probably "Ares/Snow". The mun is verified to be a bad person. Well, of course, that's got to be repeated, it worked. (Even if it did not, at all, work and only made it harder for people to avoid any of these muns.)

Are there people in the RPC who are legitimately a problem? Absolutely, yes. We're all supposed to be adults, however. Part of being an adult is having and acting upon one's agency. If someone is coercing you into things you are not comfortable with, shut it down. If you have difficulties being certain of those situations, run it by a trusted, honest friend or available, impartial source in the RPC for a second opinion. If you can't handle any manner of confrontation, there really are situations in which it's perfectly alright to block someone without any discussion. It's just the internet, you're in control of your space. Own it.

Minors are a whole other can of fucked up worms I'm not even getting into right now except to say that because a minor exists in a space they were told to stay out of does not mean we ban all topics inappropriate for their consumption.

tl;dr: banning shit doesn't work anyway, the whole idea is predicated upon some incredibly problematic takes IRL, and no, there's no justification for it outside of intense personal problems with one's own importance. That energy would be infinitely better spent volunteering one's time to help real people in crisis or after surviving one, or even oneself in developing some healthier approaches and thought patterns.
