actually genuinely depressing that when people write april's mom as an actual character she's just kind of a one note Good Caretaker Mom... and like i know why this happens (let the the mammy trope dieee) but i still think there's a lot of untapped potential. im not saying she has to be a BAD parent but there are infinitely more interesting things you can do with april and her relationships with her parent(s), especially because she's WROUGHT with insecurity and is shown to develop a close bond with splinter, who she seeks out approval from, not to mention the absence of her likely working parents is so loud despite it never being mentioned as a reason for her issues, really.

april can take on the front of confidence because she's excitable and courageous but she is so deeply insecure. her being so tenacious despite that doesn't negate it. she notices how she doesn't seem to get along with other people and desperately desires balance between her love of the weird and her need for normalcy. april will work hard to fit in and she'll never succeed (also i really do relate to the fact that the one "friend" she has at school before likely sunita is kind of a creep that she doesn't like, can we talk about that more), and she does seem to find it frustrating that her only actual friends dont understand how that feels. being in the in-between point. wanting the best of both worlds and not truly fitting in either.

i think these are problems that can come with having a bad social life at school even with great parents, but unintentional emotional neglect due to being working class would be interesting, and parallel with splinter in a really fascinating way (+ they do say she has parents but i do prefer the idea of her having a single mom, more to be done with that. maybe they're divorced? that'd add something).

actually april's dynamic with splinter is really unexplored in the fandom because i do think there's a reason she finds his approval so validating,,, i think april's strong personality is mistaken for genuine confidence when it's really not.

SHE THINKS SHE'S A FAILURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remembering "Angel Hare"

This is Angel Hare. An indie series made by the Mangan Sisters/The East Patch. Sometime around 2022.

It's one of my favorite Analog Horror Series. But sadly not a well known one. It's also relatively new as it's first episode is only a year old.

The next few excerpts I have taken from TV Tropes becouse I couldn't do them justice. I'm not a thief. Just incompetent.

"The story follows a young man named Jonah, who one day walks into a thrift store and discovers an official VHS copy of an old childhood show he used to love: Angel Hare, a 6 episode Christian based cartoon about the adventures of Francis the Badger and his friend Angel Gabby, the titular angelic hare.

Overcome by nostalgia and an old sense of comfort, he buys the tape, despite already having all the episodes of the original airing of the show recorded back home, anddecides to watch it, but he immediately notices that something is … off.

The show as presented on the tape is completely different from the one he remembers. Fortunately, he does have his own recording of the show to compare it to, so he starts uploading comparison videos of the two versions of the show onto Youtube.

From there he finds himself going down the rabbit hole of childhood memories as he slowly starts to realize exactly how strange his old recording actually is, and that Angel Gabby is definitely way more than she seems.

He may have forgotten Angel Hare, but Angel Hare sure hasn't forgotten him."

I watched the entire show at the beginning of the year. I loved it. But it looked like it was over...

UNTIL IT WASN'T!

They posted new Episodes! And made a new plot hook! I was even mentioned! Me! Some nobody from nowhere!

So in return I thought I'd try to support them in the only way I could before I get a Patreon. By spreading awareness baby!

I really don't care if any of you like tmc it has absolutely zero affect on my quality of life, but this is why tmc fans get a bad rep. accept that it's not the holy grail of horror media and that not everyone's pushing each other out of the way to line up and suck kister's dick. If other stim blogs wanna continue making content for it I really couldn't give less of a shit. but this blog won't, at least for the time being.

One of the Things I've learnt and trying to internalize is you can't give what you don't completely have. You're a cup,fill it by loving yourself.

Fill it to the brim till it overflows then give from the overflow. Don't distribute when your cup is half empty cause you'll run out completely, it'll drain and leave you deserted.

Touching the cup means tiping it over= disconnecting from the source: when you tip over your cup to give, you can't pour into it at the same time.

"Ah, Elian, there you are. The usual?"

I sit down at the bar with a sigh. "It's been a rough week and a rougher day. Gimmie something strong."

"Mmm. I think I got just the thing for ya."

I rest my head on the bar as I wait, suffering through the troubled thoughts until the bartender slides a drink beside me. Ready to be done with this week already, I grab the cup and gulp it down in one big swig. It tastes different, definitely stronger than my usual. Fortunately, it seems to kick in faster too; my body feels light, those awful worries empty from my head, and the world around me grows ever larger.

My fingers are getting short and stubby, and I have to put my cup down before I lose my grip. That's different. But now it's getting hard to remember what it's usually like. My memory normally stays intact... I think. Thinking is hard too, so instead I just watch my fingers get smaller and smaller, my hand so tiny that it's... it's small, hehe... My cute little paws, for pawing at stuff!

I'm small too now! I'm like 2... 3 feet? No, I only have 2 feet. Or are paws feet? Do I have 4 feet? Ack, I'm so confused- Oof! In all that thinking, I leaned back so far I fell off the chair! Good thing I'm so soft 'n' squishy. I probably shouldn't be thinking. But what should I do?

"Hey, you alright?"

My eyes focus, and I see someone big! THEY can think for me! "How many feet do I have?"

The big person chuckles at my question, and I giggle along with them. "Do you need some help getting to the cuddle corner?"

"The cuddle corner! I remember that! Yeah, I gotta go there!" I stand up, all on my own; I'm getting good at being small! Then I turn to the helpful big person and raise my paws for uppies!

They scoop me up, cradling me in their big, strong arms and taking me away. Tragically, I barely have any time to nuzzle before they lay me down on a padded mat and walk away. I sit up and look around; the beanbags and couches, the pastel colors, and all the big people playing with little folk like me. This is the place! Now it's time to... um... wait for someone to play with me!

It doesn't take long, strong arms lifting me from behind and making me squeak in surprise! Held like a plushie, I look up and see them smiling down at me, upside-down. "Hi there! What's your name, little guy?"

"Uh... I don't remember!"

"Aww, poor thing~" They walk me over to a beanbag, settling me into their lap. They stroke a hand over my head and down my back. "I think I'll call you... Cherry! Because you're pink like cherry blossoms."

"Hehe, yay!" I lie down across their legs, feeling their hand glide over my body. I paw-sitively MELT with relaxation; someone strong's got me. I'm right where I belong, safe and cared for. No need to think, I'm just a ball of fluff and hapiness...

OOOooo, that's a NICE feeling! Something rough, dragging through my fur real good! Must be one of the brushes scattered about the room. I can't help but arch my back into it, purring up a storm! What a lovely night...
