Hi! I hope you don’t mind me asking but i’ve been following Daughter of Fire for a while now but only just found your socials. Has the fic been discontinued or is it on hold? No pressure to answer, I understand how stressful the writing process can be, just mere curiosity about a fic I love dearly!

Hiya, sweet Anon! I gotta say, I’ve gotten so many asks like this for the past few years and I didn’t answer any of them bc my anxiety always hits me real bad lol I thought about making a master post and pinning it about where we are with DoF and all that but just thinking about it also sends me into an anxiety attack so I haven’t. The fic is… on hold, I would say? I’m not currently writing it but I have a few chapters ahead all ready to go and I intend to go back to it….eventually.

I unfortunately can’t give you guys a prediction bc I don’t want to force myself to write this fic when I’m just not feeling it. I love this fic too much and I want to do it justice. I did say a few years back that if I ever decide to stop writing it I would release everything I had including all my plans for how it’s going to develop into the end and I think people would kinda prefer that at this point but I’m just not ready to give up on it yet.

I’m really sorry about the awful cliffhanger, in my head I took a year to post that chapter bc I wanted to have the next one locked and loaded so you wouldn’t be left w that ending for too long but then when I wrote the next chapter I kinda… hated it. Lol I had some major writer’s block with those last few chapters and I’ve had to talk extensively with my friends to just get over it already. The good news is that I did, I found out what was bothering me and I fixed it and I’m genuinely excited for the next part now. The bad news is that I completely lost interest in writing the fic. For now!

For a really long time the fact that I didn’t want to write it kinda put me off writing in general and it took me a really long time to get back to writing fanfiction and not just things for school and stuff. I’m in a much better place now when it comes to writing fanfiction which is exciting but unfortunately my muse is moving me in other directions. And yeah I just love this fic too much to just force myself into writing for it when I know it won’t be coming from a place of joy? I’ve been way too disappointed at authors who did this before, you could always see the drop in quality when the author loses interest. So yeah, I just don’t want that to be me.

Sorry for the super long reply also sorry to everyone I didn’t reply to either here or in my comment section. I’m just really sad and ashamed really that I have this fic which so many people enjoy and I love so much and I still couldn’t keep my muse going. But yeah, I hope you guys are still around when I get back to it!!!
