Note
how do you come up with the ways cultures in your setting stylize people/animals/the world in general in their artwork, i.e. jewlery, rock carvings, statues, etc? Each culture in your world seems to have a very unique "art style" and I love it a lot - makes them seem that much more 'real'. This is something I struggle with a lot in my own worldbuilding and I'd love to pick your brain if possible 😁
I think a starting point is to have a research process based in the material realities of the culture you're designing for. Ask yourself questions like:
Where do they live? What's the climate/ecosystem(s) they are based in? What geographic features are present/absent?
What is their main subsistence method? (hunter gatherer, seasonal pastoralist, nomadic pastoralist, settled agriculturalist, a mix, etc)
What access to broader trade networks do they have and to whom? Are there foreign materials that will be easily accessible in trade and common in use, or valuable trade materials used sparingly in limited capacities?
Etc
And then do some research based on the answers, in order to get a sense of what materials they would have routine access to (ie dyes, metal, textiles, etc) and other possible variables that would shape how the art is made and what it's used for. This is just a foundational step and won't likely play much into designing a Style.
If you narrow these questions down very specifically, (ie in the context of the Korya post- grassland based mounted nomads, pastoralist and hunter-gatherer subsistence, access to wider trade networks and metals), you can direct your research to specific real world instances that fit this general idea. This is not to lift culturally specific concepts from the real world and slap them into your own setting, but to notice commonalities this lifestyle enforces - (ie in the previous example- mounted nomadic peoples are highly mobile and need to easily carry their wealth (often on clothing and tack) therefore small, elaborate decorative artwork that can easily be carried from place to place is a very likely feature)
For the details of the art itself, I come up with loose 'style guides' (usually just in my head) and go from there.
Here's some example questions for forming a style (some are more baseline than others)
Are geometric patterns favored? Organic patterns? Representative patterns (flowers, animals, stars, etc)? Abstract patterns?
Is there favored material(s)? Beads, bone, clay, metals, stones, etc.
When depicting people/animals, is realism favored? Heavy stylization? The emotional impression of an animal? Are key features accentuated?
How perspective typically executed? Does art attempt to capture 3d depth? Does it favor showing the whole body in 2 dimensions (ie much of Ancient Egyptian art, with the body shown in a mix of profile and forward facing perspective so all key attributes are shown)? Will limbs overlap? Are bodies shown static? In motion?
Does artwork of people attempt to beautify them? Does it favor the culture's conception of the ideal body?
Are there common visual motifs? Important symbols? Key subject matters?
What is the art used for? Are its functions aesthetic, tutelary, spiritual, magical? (Will often exist in combination, or have different examples for each purpose)
Who is represented? Is there interest in everyday people? Does art focus on glorifying warriors, heroes, kings?
Are there conventions for representing important figures? (IE gods/kings/etc being depicted larger than culturally lesser subjects)
Is there visual shorthand to depict objects/concepts that are difficult to execute with clarity (the sun, moon, water), or are invisible (wind, the soul), or have no physical component (speech)?
Etc
Deciding on answers to any of these questions will at least give you a unique baseline, and you can fill in the rest of the gaps and specify a style further until it is distinct. Many of these questions are not mutually exclusive, both in the sense of elements being combined (patterns with both geometric and organic elements) or a culture having multiple visual styles (3d art objects having unique features, religious artwork having its own conventions, etc).
Also when you're getting in depth, you should have cultural syncretism in mind. Cultures that routinely interact (whether this interaction is exchange or exploitation) inevitably exchange ideas, which can be especially visible in art. Doing research on how this synthesizing of ideas works in practice is very helpful- what is adopted or left out from an external influence, what is retained from an internal influence, what is unique to this synthesis, AND WHY. (I find Greco-Buddhist art really interesting, that's one of many such examples)
Looking at real world examples that fit your parameters can be helpful (ie if I've decided on geometric patterns in my 'style guide', I'll look at actual geometric patterns). And I strongly encourage trying to actually LEARN about what you're seeing. All art exists in a context, and having an understanding of how the context shapes art, how art does and doesn't relate to broader aspects of a society, etc, can help you when synthesizing your own.

🦦Astro Observations & Planets💕
🌙Venus in Capricorn has often loved deeply before, and when that love broke — it shattered a whole structure inside them. So now, they try to pre-empt pain by staying one emotional step back. Not because they don’t feel — but because they feel too much, and have no idea how to safely express it without losing their inner stability. I think they are very difficult to love, especially if they have been hurt before. They are very closed to love and cautious. Even if they love someone, they would rather let them go than stay because they are afraid of being hurt again. They often see the end before things even begin. They can be very pesimistic about love. They often say things they don't mean just to protect themselves from getting hurt again. So they can care a lot about you, but they say one thing and mean another.
Venus in Sagittarius-You’re not naïve — you’re brave. Your Sagittarius Venus believes in love even after pain. It searches for meaning, keeps its heart open to possibilities, and understands that love is part of the journey, not just the destination.
🧚🏼‍♀️🎸When cap venus & sag venus are together-they set healthy boundaries not to restrict your freedom, but to show you that true intimacy thrives when each partner’s needs are honored. They’re often excellent at managing resources so they can help wing-and-a-prayer Sag investments become solid foundations. They translate your grand ideas into real world plans helping you take that spontaneous overseas trip and turn it into a fully booked itinerary rather than a flight-of-fancy weekend.
🪐Saturn is a planet of time( That's why he always wants to do everything slowly and with caution. Because everything takes time). That's why people who have a lot of Saturn or especially Capricorn in their sign open up slowly, trust slowly, enter into relationships slowly, because they build everything over time. It can take them years to fully open up to someone. They are not good at forgiving. They will never completely forgive. Saturn rules over holidays, responsibility, commitment to something for a long time, building, working on something, constancy, being here and always being, everyday tasks, boundaries, respect, independence, high expectations, developing areas where we are weak, improvements, perseverance, strength. Saturn with strong aspects between two people (especially between the sun and the moon) indicates a long-term relationship that can last forever whether we want it to or not. Saturn also rules endings, so when things have to come to an end, Saturn will bring them to an end. Saturn also gives a sense of rejection. Saturn can also give a feeling of loneliness and the feeling that you are always alone in the end. Alienation from emotions and difficulty expressing them. Also ruling over karma.
✨Saturn in 1st house-part of your life will always be a bit challenging but the energy of Saturn will often save you from problems. It is important to do things that are calm, take your time with them and not rush into changes too quickly. Saturn in 3rd house - you will take time to think , to speak. Your thoughts may be constantly burdened. People may not even know how much you think, but you don't share your thoughts that much. You have a slightly serious approach to relatives and feel a sense of responsibility of your siblings.
🏝️Uranus is a planet of unpredictable things that happen suddenly and at a time when we least expect them to come. But many times these things set us free and lead us to another path. Our reactions to shocking things are shown by uranus and how we will approach changes and innovations. It brings the innovations we needed to change something in our lives. With uranus we become unique, different and go down a path that we think is good for us. We become more original and more like ourselves. Uranus brings about sudden events and opportunities. It awakens, shocks, and revolutionizes. Uranus relates to your inner will and your secret power. If Uranus is prominent in your horoscope, you are inclined to be independent and resourceful. You may dress in an unusual manner, create your own style, and invent new gadgets. People may be attracted to you because of your “far-out” point of view. Uranus brings change into our lives, new situations, and new people. Its gifts are always sudden and ephemeral; you have to take immediate advantage of them before they flash by. The message of Uranus is to move with change and not be afraid of the future.
Uranus in 2nd house- money comes unexpectedly and quickly and you have unique way of how you approach money. The way to earn money can be through technology, computer, phone (depending on the sign in the house). If you have Aquarius in this house, money can come through your dreams, goals, friends. If you have Scorpio in this house money can come through a partner, investment. Uranus in this house can show that you have a unique way of preparing food and what kind of food you eat. You can also have unique music. Uranus in 4th house- your home can be completely different from others, unique and special. But you can move a lot in life.
🍒Neptune is a planet illusions, dreams, poetic thoughts, sacrifice, creation, art. Neptune is named after the Roman god of the sea, who ruled over oceans, rivers, streams, fountains, and all things hidden by watery depths. Its realm is the subconscious world, hidden memory, intuition, and clairvoyance. Neptune’s power is subtle, ethereal, inspirational, and otherworldly. Many astrologers claim that Neptune brings a person into contact with a higher plane of consciousness. Neptune was discovered, was a time of renewed interest in spiritualism. Hypnosis became a new medical treatment, and anesthetics were first introduced into general use. In its highest form Neptune symbolizes perfection. It represents your unselfish ideals, your spiritual quest, and your search for the Impossible Dream.
🌊Neptune in 1st house- you have a gift for spirituality, leadership, your appearance can be eternal and very dreamy. Your personality is only visible to those who truly see you. To many people, you may be an enigma or a mystery and they want to find out who you really are. Neptune in 5th house- You love pleasure and luxury (sometimes too much); you are very drawn to the theater or cinema. You bring a fantasy quality to lovemaking. You may be involved in one or more illicit love affairs, which may cause sorrow. Neptune in 3rd house-our mind is impressionable and imaginative, and you may have psychic feelings about other people. You have a deep need to learn about life and are attracted to occult studies.
🦦Pluto is a planet of transformation, depth, power. The planet that is also the farthest from Earth, so its energy is more mystical. Pluto is named after the Roman god of the underworld and the nether regions of Hades, and of the spirits of the dead. There are two sides to Pluto’s influence, and like the two sides of a coin they are opposite but part of the same. Pluto has a powerful generational influence and also a personal meaning in your chart. The planet governs the beginnings and ends of the phases in life. Something you have to let go to start something new. The Plutonian character has a deep need to dominate and control, and often will rise to great heights. Some astrologers believe Pluto’s power is too arcane and mysterious for human beings to analyze properly now, but that the planet will continue to govern impulses in our secret psyches that we do not yet fully understand.
🌌Pluto in 6th house- Many transformations happen through your daily life, body, health routine and work. You can change many jobs to find the right one. You have great power of concentration and are intent on seeing results. You tend to overwork yourself. You take an interest in medicine and health and are sometimes gifted in the healing arts. Pluto in 12th house- You have the gift of seeing other people's hidden motives. Your transformations are carried out subconsciously and you can have a powerful influence on your subconscious mind. You have a compelling desire to understand, to see deeply into philosophical questions.
🎲Jupiter is a planet of luck, travel, blessings, wisdom, teaching. Jupiter signifies the good things that come to you easily and with little effort. It is said that when Jupiter is working for you, you will never go under. You will often find that Jupiter’s power comes to your rescue at the last minute. Jupiter can also be too much of a good thing, for its influence can make you extravagant, lazy and luxury-loving, profligate with money, and blindly optimistic. Jupiter is the planet of blessings—blessings we must learn to use wisely.
🎰Jupiter in 1st house- luck always comes to you and you can feel that it is easy for you to express yourself. You always have a confidence that you carry with you no matter what. You always find optimism and you almost never worry about what others think of you. People may see you as a person who is wise, intelligent, and a person who is like a kind of teacher to others. Jupiter in 7th house- You are successful in marriage and partnerships, and are likely to gain power and prestige through both. Can often means you will marry twice and that one of your mates is likely to be powerful or wealthy. During your lifetime your adversaries often become friends, and conflicts have a beneficial ending.
🎧Moon in 8th house- You are a deeply sensitive person with a talent for healing. You have strong powers of suggestion. You are interested in questions about death and an afterlife, and quite possibly have psychic ability that you can use in a practical way. You are highly responsive sexually.
🎨Moon in 9th house- You have a receptive, imaginative mind capable of delving into philosophical ideas. You are attracted by the unknown; in your work you may delve into history or the past. At some time in your career you are likely to benefit from inlaws or relatives of the person you marry.
🎤Moon in 10th house- You are involved with the public in career, professional, or social activities, and perhaps will not have much private life. There is the possibility that you will change your occupation in midlife. You can be very attached to your career, success, and achievements mean a lot to you emotionally, and you often celebrate them with your family. The support of your family and their pride in you means a lot to you. Above all, the presence of your mother can mean a lot to you.
🎸Venus in 10th house- Your partner's support will mean a lot to you in life. Your partner may also be the reason for your success in some way. You can achieve a lot together. But it could be that the relationship you have is very visible to the public and many people may be interested in the relationships you have in life (your partner's character, work can also have a big impact on your reputation).
🥁Mercury in 11th house- You should have a large number of acquaintances, for you adapt yourself to a variety of different people. Your friendships tend to be based on an intellectual rapport. You are socially minded and usually become involved with groups, clubs, and societies.
🧉Mars in 8th house-You are passionate about life and have a strong sex drive. You are attracted to the occult, also to medicine and the healing arts. There may be conflicts in your family over wills or legacies. It depends on the sign Mars is in, but if Mars is in a fire sign your reactions will be dramatic and at some point you will express jealousy and intensity out loud. If you have mars in taurus means that many things come quietly, suddenly, planned, controlled. Maybe your partner will always think that you don't care and that nothing bothers you, but then you'll suddenly blurt out everything that's on your mind.
✨Sun is a greater indicator of the father than Saturn, the sun is more where you want to be exposed and visible and how you were seen in childhood and also represents the relationship you have with your father in your younger years. Sun in 9th house-Your father was able to travel a lot and was abroad, you had the most contact with him when you traveled together. It's also possible that your father helps you get abroad or helps you find a job there. Sun in 10th house- Your father can help you with your career, and maybe some part of you wants your father to see your success and want him to be proud of you.

Plutonian Women
(and unraveling their destiny)
Tumblr media
This post can be quite messy because I only wanted to share my thoughts on this topic. Do not take all of this as my absolute truth because these are things that I've thought for quite a while seeing it in my life and personally too.
Something I've realized lately is that Plutonian Women go through unique situations that set them apart from other people. And in this case, I'm refering to women only and not men because this is based on my experience, and you all know that energies manifest differently according to the gender so I'm not gonna afirm this also apply to men when I haven't seen it in my world, also, as we are tired of seeing, women are treated differently from men in our society so we cope with things differently.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I wanted to talk about placements that make a woman Plutonian in my opinion (when I say "Plutonian", I mean someone who is heavily affected by Pluto in their natal chart), but you can relate to this post whether you have some of these aspects or not, so share your experiences with me, I'd love to know!
🔮 1H/5H/8H/10H Pluto.
🔮 0° Pluto.
🔮 Pluto in water degrees (bonus points if there are aspected placements who are also in water degrees).
🔮 Pluto aspecting big 6 (specially harsh aspects: conjunction, opposition, square, contra-parallel / also specially the luminaries - sun, moon - and mars).
🔮 Pluto in the same personal planets/asc.
🔮 Pluto aspects to outer planets in case it's also aspecting big 6.
🔮 I think Pluto aspect BM Lilith/Chiron can also play a part in this.
🔮 Scorpio Pluto if it's conjuncting or heavily aspecting other placements.
Tumblr media
What distincts a Plutonian Woman from the rest is their gravitational energy that pulls you in like a black hole, and as intensely as one. Their eyes hold a shadow of their past traumas and occasions but with a touch of mystery that makes you wonder what they went through in their lives. Their stare is heavy and filled with emotions (let's not forget Pluto still rules a water sign).
I don't like to condemn people for their placements, but I think Plutonian Women came to this life to suffer a lot before gaining what they want and deserve, and this seemingly infinite cycle of pain will only end when they learn how to cope healthily with things of life. One of the reasons why they go through so much is their way of seeing and feeling. Plutonian Women feel things in almost a transcendental way, they feel intensely and with this, they can put themselves through "unnecessary" situations when not careful. They're also prone to self destructive behavior, their heart usually puts a dark veil in their thoughts when their emotions come crashing in like a hurricane. Their pain is the embodiment of "female rage", when they cry hard, it's a mix of anger, sadness, sorrow and everything that they were holding back from a while - because they do hold emotions - but they can't run away from their deepest parts, and one day everything overflows and they can finally reborn from that suffering; the music "Pretty When You Cry" describes them perfectly, because they're indeed pretty when they cry and crying frees them in a way, and a lot of people actually like to seem them suffer? Plutonian Women attract questionable men or women (romantically), because they're almost like a beautiful show to watch, and these men/women like them best when they're falling apart, but manipulation can arise and fool them (they should be careful with 12H synastry specifically, the apparently good ones can actually be the wolf in sheep's clothes).
But back to the way Plutonian Women perceive the world, they are actually fragile at heart, but they try to hide it at all costs, they have a pure heart who could be derranged due to childhood/romantic/any other issues but who has no bad intentions most of the times. I think of them as victims of situations they have no control of since young.
However, to be more positive, I'd like to say that this is not a death sentence at all. Indeed, death is the right word to describe Plutonian Women because they die all the time (figuratively speaking, but literal death can be very present in their life too) and they are reborn as better people. Unfortunately, justice or karma is not much on their side because the world can be a place very unfair most of the times, but I think this is due the fact that they souldn't focus on revenge or negative thoughts, even though they can do it a lot as a way of thinking as a "justice". But the message they should learn is that they should focus on getting better, prettier, wiser, smarter instead of losing energy thinking on lower vibrational people.
The truth is that Plutonian Women are the defintion of a a Phoenix, if you do them wrong, you can be sure that they will gain their dignity back and get back stronger than ever, even with a "fragile" heart as I said, they have a malicious mind that protects this side of them; and also, once they apparently heal their deepest and oldest wounds, it gets harder and harder to break their shell, but if you were capable of doing so, just know that you opened all of them and made the Plutonian suffer all again and go to hell and back.
Overall, the word that describes them best is "raw" because this is what they truly are (in the best way possible lol). Due to this, they can attract a lot of hate - similar to lilith women and specially if they are also lilith "dominant" - from people who don't understand their beauty or actions, because their beauty is truly sharp, hypnotizing, dark and undescribable, furthermore, their actions are particularly unique and most of the times hide their intentions, they never do something significant without thinking first. They ultimstely search for what's beyond the surface, when in love, they wanna know your soul and more, they despise flings, they wanna get to know the depths of their s/o's being, they love hard but also get heartbroken hard when it happens. Academically, they like to be strategic and hardworking when they see it's worth the work, they can be perfectionist because they're hard on themselves most of the times. So, afterall, what's their destiny? Their destiny is to feel accepted and comfortable in their own skin, to get over their traumas and allowing themselves to be better, to let go of toxic people and surroundings, to not engage in toxic relationships anymore, to free themselves from karmic debts and to be finally happy.
Plutonian Women probably feel a deep connection with spirituality, astrology, pstchology, crying, darkness, mystery, the unknown, black/red/purple/dark blue, sad and profound songs, the night, dark places in general, mourning, wakes, death celebrations, soul level bonds and conversations.
Plutonian Women are masterpieces who deserve more from the world and people, they've gone through a lot and they should be 100% respected, sending a lot of love to all of you ❤️‍🔥
Tumblr media
Hey guyssss, I missed posting actual posts here but I wasn't feeling inspired lately. But I'm back!!! I hope you guys understand my point of view and I typed this with all my heart because I was based on my personal experiences and people around me's experiences. I was thinking in also making a post about Lilith Women since I also have a lot to say about that either ! Thanks for the support and see you later or sooner 💋 Also in case you noticed I didn't focused in scorpio placements here because I think they work differently (I just don't know how to explain this difference tbh, so I focused on actual Pluto)

Dear lettered,
I just finished reading Away Childish Things. It took me a longtime to finally read it, which is weird because I already read and reread several of your wonderful work. But part of me thinks that sometimes stories find us when we need them the most.
I’ve been in an extensive work in therapy healing my inner child and your work stroke a chord with me. I related to many aspects of your Harry and Draco’s struggles and I wanted to express what a strong impression and healing power your words hold. The subtle way you handle sensitive subject is truly astounding. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
I was curious about the title - maybe it’s pretty self explanatory I still wondered if you can talk about it a little. I’m sure this question might have been asked so feel free to skip if it’s a repeat.
Have a lovely day ✨
I'm so glad you liked this story!
The title "Away Childish Things" is from Corinthians, in the Bible: When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
I am not Christian and not well-versed in the Bible, but I know the verse because it's a relatively well-known and often quoted, which is also a reason I chose it. I wanted something that was about growing up, and this verse is literally what the fic is about: you think and understand differently as a child than as an adult.
But I also wanted to use this verse because it's sometimes (mis)used as an imperative. The verse is simply stating a reality that happens: we grow and therefore change; it's correct, and I agree with it completely. But some people use the verse to say you've grown and therefore you should change; eg you're an adult, so don't play video games, put away childish things. This is rather silly; if you're an adult and you're still interested in it, it's not really a childish thing, is it? But more importantly, the sense I get from people who talk like this is that childhood actually disappears; it's a stage that, once over, no longer exists.
I don't think that's true--and incidentally, I don't think that's what the verse is saying either, though this bit isn't really about Biblical interpretation at all, rather the way this quote is used in popular culture. I think the children we were live within us, and that even as we think and understand differently, our childish thoughts and understanding are a part of us. And we try to put that away, whether because it hurts or because we want to be adults or because we just assume we've moved on, but I don't think our former ways of being disappear. They can be buried, or they can be incorporated into us, but sometimes how we react or what we do is still coming from a place of childhood, and I think that's important to see and acknowledge.
This is why I focused on the "I put away childish things" part of the verse, because it speaks to the change as an adult. The reason it's just "away childish things" is I don't love pronouns in titles and keeping "put" felt too direct. I wanted to suggest that childish things had perhaps been put away, but perhaps also they'd been carried away, or perhaps also someone was trying to tell them to go away, but they stayed.

Born to be a Star | Mingyu | SVT Destiny Matrix | Pt. 1
hello this lilacmoon ⋆.˚⟡ ࣪ ˖
i’m back with another reading for my svt destiny matrix series! on this post, we’ll be exploring another character that piqued quite my interest.
as you can read from the title, i’ll be putting the spotlight on mingyu & why i believe that he was born to be a star ⋆.˚⟡ ࣪ ˖
Tumblr media
this post might be a long one, as i’m going to explore quite the number of aspects and zones for this reading. so i hope you’re equipped with the patience (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ i promise to keep it light & easy to digest, though!
thanks in advance for reading ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
part 1.1 chart aspects & zones
before we start exploring mingyu’s chart, i’d like to first share a point of reference to the purpose of each aspect & zone im gonna be tapping into. of course, every area of our charts must come together as one to tell us our fortune holistically. but again, this series is just for fun. as i’ve mentioned in this post, i can’t disclose everything i can read into the members’ charts. plus, it takes a whole day to read someone’s chart actually (i’ve tried it, trust me), so i’m providing abridged readings only.
anyways ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
i'm going to be breaking this reading into two parts. the main area we’ll be looking into for this reading is the money line. this is the area you usually look at to know how you can manifest financial or material abundance in your life. this is one of the areas where you can find your ideal career or business opportunity, how you should be spending or investing your money, and an additional area for what intentions you could adapt while you do the latter activities.
to some people, this area is enough for them to make sense of their financial situation. but if you want to look at it in relation to purpose, calling, and talents, you can also look at these sections to provide supporting details:
portrait zone
talent zone
financial/material karma
material karma of both parents
i'll be talking about these supporting details in part 2 as they're a whole bunch of long sections altogether. they'll still circle back to the money line, so you can see how all these aspects relate to one another. it's quite interesting, too, so please watch out for it soon!
moving on! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
here’s a labeled version of mingyu’s destiny matrix chart you can use as reference:
Tumblr media
sorry it’s kind of a mess (ᵕ—ᗜ—) it’s me & my ipad against the world
i’ve already labelled each subsection for each zone so you could have an idea of what they mean within the destiny matrix chart. i use this chart calculator online, by the way. you can graph this much like any other divination chart, of course. but to make it easy, you can just let the computer do the computing for you (it involves math).
now with this in mind, let’s now explore the energies housed in these parts of mingyu’s chart!
part 1.2 mingyu’s money line
as i’ve mentioned, the very focus of this post will be of mingyu’s money line. this is where all the other supporting details will revolve around and go back to in conclusion. so let’s dive right in!
✧ദ്ദി( ˶^ᗜ^˶ )
Tumblr media
as we can see from this chart, the mingyu’s full money line houses the energies 17-7-8. these are the energies of the star, the chariot, and justice.
i’d like to note that in reading the destiny matrix, we use the marseilles tarot instead of the rider-waite deck. the difference between these decks is that the positions of justice & strength are interchanged. in rider-waite, justice is represented by the number 11, while it’s the number 8 in marseilles. why this system the way it is can be left for another time. for now, let’s focus on reading!
a. financial log-in: the star (17)
right off the bat, this was the aspect that really caught my attention about mingyu’s professional destiny. the star, in the context of careers and money, essentially represents talents, creativity, and making connections. although some other numbers can represent these in general, the star gives the nuance of being seen. basically, popularity.
this tells us that mingyu was born gifted. but while others who are being asked to dedicate their natural talents to society, or use their talents to revere themselves, or manifest their dreams, mingyu’s task is to expose them to the world. in order to manifest financial/material abundance, he musn’t be afraid of the spotlight. of people praising him. of making connections within the industry he’s in and pursue being a credible figure.
because stars are meant to shine, aren’t they?
i really love this because the star in the financial log-in means he was called to it. identifying the language that the universe is speaking to you with is very important to manifesting your fate in the positive. and to be called to do something in order to breakthrough your barriers, to me, weighs much more than being simply programmed to be something.
b. financial flow: the chariot (7)
as we always say in spirituality, manifestation must always be paired with action. we cannot always rely on the universe to hand over the best version of ourselves and our lives on a silver platter if we don’t do anything to achieve it. because while everyone has a right to a good life, we also have a responsibility to ourselves & to our fates that we must commit to.
in the money line, the area of financial flow is your instruction on how to generate your income or how to keep it flowing. directly under the money sign, some people look at this area to find their ideal careers or business venture. for mingyu, we could see that his flow is influenced by the chariot (7).
this suggests that, in order to manifest a steady and abundant flow of income into his life, he must invest his efforts in an endeavor in which he’s in constant motion. in addition, he must develop drive & discipline, or be in an area that naturally evokes this in him.
being an idol suits him in this regard. the entertainment industry requires a lot of movement, discipline, and passion from those who want to be a star among a whole galaxy. and knowing the level of training and preparation he does with seventeen as well as the long list of experiences he probably has on his resume, we could infer that the stage, variety shows, model shoots, runways, etc. are natural habitats to him.
but what i loved most about this area is that it's proof of how natural it is for mingyu to be hardworking. he has a strong sense of what he wants out of his career and truly loves it. similar to the fool (22), he's also being called to commit. only difference is that the chariot almost always does.
pair all this with his log-in under the star, he truly is the perfect idol.
c. balance / intention: justice (8)
in this last section of the money line (or the "tail" as i like to call it), we can see the intentions we can apply and keep in mind in order to positively manifest financial abundance in our lives. typically, this is simply the area where you can find balance between money and love. but so far in the readings i've done for other people, it comes out as the value you must possess to reach your career/financial goals when you read it in the sole context of the money line.
this area asks us what we're gonna do with all this abundance. it's not enough for you to just have it. you also have to reassure the universe that you're using the blessings you receive for its intended purpose. because who wants bad karma, right?
looking back at mingyu's chart, we see that this area is under the energy of justice (8).
simply put, this suggests that all the work mingyu does must always be ethical. justice is, in its name, all about fairness and making decisions that are honest. if he really wants to succeed & keep material abundance at the palm of his hands, he must not cheat, lie, or steal from anyone. most importantly, he must be willing to share. the universe will grant him this life of fame and fortune, but he must live it earnestly.
this doesn't have to be material possessions, though. especially not in the context of his line of work. this could mean that even though he naturally draws the spotlight on him, he must remember to share it with other people. he must keep only the recognition that he truly worked hard for. pursue only the opportunities that fit him the best, and those that don't must be given to those who deserve it.
and god, am i proud that mingyu does this a lot. mingyu's love for his career extends way beyond himself as he lets it pour onto his members, his coworkers, and the industry itself. the strongest proof i have of this is when he himself said that his goal is to keep seventeen together. wasn't he the one that initiated their contract renewal as thirteen? wasn't he the one that urged them to talk about it despite how difficult of a conversation it was?
despite the amount of his solo activities, he keeps coming home to seventeen. he keeps sharing his success to them. always crediting his brothers/friends for the drive & discipline he learned to possess. and most importantly, always inspiring the people around him.
part 1.3 final thoughts
there's no doubt that mingyu is blessed by the universe. not only is he very much connected with his purpose, he's also doing all the work that's needed and applying the virtues required. this just makes me even more proud to be a carat. i've been so used to seeing artists of different media get their souls sucked off by capitalism or their spirits die off because of burn out. so it truly feels just as fulfilling on my end as a fan to know that i'm supporting someone who genuinely loves what he does in such a pure manner and enjoys his time doing so.
of course, this isn't all of it. but this alone, to me, proves why mingyu was born for stardom. and i'm so excited to prove it further in the next post.
if you have the same aspects as mingyu on your money line, i deem you very lucky! you have someone like him to inspire you to positively manifest the financial abundance that the universe has programmed for you. so if you're looking for a sign to turn your life around for the better, this might be it. take it. run with it.
for the good of all & the harm of none ⋆✴︎˚。⋆
---
if you made it this far, thank you! ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- i hope this reading brought you entertainment and enlightenment. perhaps, even a new perspective of mingyu and/or your life ♡
again, if you have additional thoughts / corrections you'd like to share, please don't be afraid to do so!! i'd love to know what you think/feel about this hihihi ( ∩´͈ ᐜ `͈∩)
see u in part 2~! (⸝⸝> ᴗ•⸝⸝)

just some lauren quotes
“The comedy is what separates ‘Witcher’ from a lot of other fantasy material like ‘Game of Thrones.’ It comes from an organic place which is that Andrzej Sapkowski is Polish, and he was telling me a lot about what it was like to grow up in Poland at a time when there country was being constantly taken over by other countries, there was a lot of political turmoil, a lot of people died, a lot of conflict, and yet you still have to get up every day and put one foot in front of the other and continue on with your life. He said, ‘How do people deal with tragedy? They laugh.’ Bringing that aspect into a fantasy show is really fresh and had never really been done before. It was really important to me to keep in that in, and I hope the fans appreciate it.”
"Yes, he’s a consultant on the show. I met with him very early in Poland when I came on to adapt and really dug into his life and why he was writing these short stories in the first place, what drew him to the character and how his own experiences in Poland influenced how he wrote it."
"It’s interesting because the women in the books that [Andrzej] Sapkowski wrote are very, very strong and very independent. It’s actually one of the first things that I asked him about, when I met him. The women were much more powerful, much more centered, and much more independent than I ever could have imagined, for a fantasy book from the 1980s, and Sapkowski said, “I just based them on the women that I knew.” Especially coming from Poland, and Central Europe, when he grew up, a lot of the men were killed in war and conflict, and women really had to be at the forefront, not just of their families, but of their communities and the workplace. These were the women that he knew, so they’re the women he wrote, and that’s one of the big things that I tried to honor."
"You know, when I first spoke to Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the books, I actually, I told him, I was actually surprised by the strength of the women in these books and he pointed, actually he said something fascinating; that I’ve never met his mother. He basically explained to me the role of women in post-war Poland and said that most of the men had died off in conflict and women really became, not just the centre of the family, but the centre of society, of culture and of the workplace. And so, you know, it’s interesting because people ask me about the female characters a lot and the complications of them, but it’s really what real women are like anyway, right? I mean it’s strong in some circumstances, vulnerable in others, occasionally bold, occasionally bitchy, occasionally silent. It really is, to me, what I wanted to capture is these women before they were seen through the lens of anyone else."
"I met him really early on in the process. I went to Poland on a research trip and he and I had an amazing lunch and just sort of sat down. We didn't even talk about The Witcher for a while. I just kind of wanted to know what made him tick as a writer, you know. So it was a great lunch between two writers and I just wanted to understand why he wrote this book, what he put of himself in it, what he put of his travels in it. He's very famous. He talks a lot about his international travels and those are really the things that inform these stories."
"When I spoke with Sapkowski, we talked about what his books meant to him — he gave me a fair share of important points, but the thing that resonated most with me is this struggle between humans and non-humans. This can be extrapolated into our current real world in dozens of ways: immigration, racism, sexism, xenophobia, class warfare, yes. But it’s also as simple as old playground feelings of not belonging, feeling on the outside, feeling “other.” It’s something every single person can relate to, in one way or another. It’s really important, in a world of dragons and monsters and elves, that we keep the emotional touchstones of the show really relatable, so we’ll be continuing to explore it a lot in season two."

Talk Garden Vol.#23‼︎〜Our Pursuit of Convenience Continues…!〜
The 23rd episode of my podcast "Wakana's Talk Garden" has been uploaded! \\\٩( 'ω' )و ////The theme of this episode is [Share things that you think have become more difficult to use and inconvenient compared to before & Things that you think have become more convenient]! I could totally relate to the inconveniences that everyone was describing due to various changes… and also the dissatisfaction that comes with it!! ! It was all about "Yes, I completely understand how you feel!!"😂 I was somehow happy to find out that everyone was thinking the same thing😊I especially nodded in agreement when it came to the inconveniences that are felt because of living in a digital society🤔I'm trying my best to keep up with this new and convenient world, but I sometimes end up thinking, "it used to be easier…" I'm sure I'll feel that way very often in the future. I know it's a privileged way of thinking. I feel like I can be grateful for the convenience we have now because I've experienced so many things in my lifetime✨ Convenience has become the norm, but I feel like it's also a good opportunity to reflect on certain aspects of my life where I have become too dependent on smartphones and machines. And I can also become aware of situations where I just can't get used to them☺️The world is changing rapidly every day, but since it's changing little by little, it's sometimes hard to notice, one day it will feel like the world has changed completely. I'm sure it's the same for humans, the accumulation of daily efforts leads to gradual change. People around you may not notice it at first but one day they'll suddenly realise that you've completely changed as a person! And just like that, everyone will be shocked😂I would like to be a person who can notice even small changes😌Thank you for all the messages this month!! 🌟💫
Well, I've decided on my next talk theme based on some messages I've received~♡ The next topic will be [Tell me about your maniacal obsessions! 】\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////Anything that only you would know…Anything that other people wouldn't understand…Any weird obsession, hyperfixation…? Please tell me about it!! \(^-^)/Personally, I'm not only into music and plants, but I'm also quite particular about recording and editing things like my podcast and my fan club videos. That's why I do it all by myself😂I'm waiting for everyone's thoughts on this! The deadline is July 31st!! ・:*+.(( °ω° ))/.:+
Now, I would like to post a few fun photos from the "Ghibli 3D Sculpture Exhibition" that I mentioned at the beginning of the podcast!! … There's a giant Totoro and Mei and Wakana!!! There's also a medium and a small Totoro!! ↓This photo below was the best one I took!!! Pazu: "Sheeta!!!" Sheeta: "Pazu!!!" Dola: "This is your last chance, slip through and snatch it!!" Wakana: "Whoaaaaaah, I can't reach it at all!!"
Father: "Where are you going with your lunch box?" Mei: "Just a little way there" Wakana: "I love walking~♪ Let's keep going♪"
It was so amazing, I had so much fun that time went by in a flash! I took a lot of photos, so I'll post some more in the next few days🤗💕
Also! Everyone! Tomorrow is finally the day of my appearance at “AirTrip presents Omatsuri Days 2025”! ! \\\٩( 'ω' )و ////I wonder what the two-man live with CHiCO will be like! 😊I'm really looking forward to it! I am excited to see everyone who is coming to see me at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse♪ Please take precautions against the heat and be careful when you come to the venue☺️
Last but not least, here are some photos of CHiCO and the band members during our rehearsal! \(^o^)/There's something strange going on with my legs in that photo😂I wanted to talk more with CHiCO~😊I'm really looking forward to seeing her again tomorrow! ♡ And here's another photo with ISEKI from the duo "Kimaguren", he's the organiser of [Everyday’s Omatsuri]! I did my best to take a picture with a selfie stick😂
Well, see you tomorrow~!! ( '▽')/

Alterhuman Community: Anglocentrism and Spirituality
Word count: 636
It's pretty common that the alterhuman community is largely English-speaking.
Or more that the community at large interacts in English.
And beyond that, many things are also US, if not western-centric, possibly due to the nature of the community being English-dominant.
There has been a bit more discussion surrounding this very phenomenon. And it is understandable why we are here with all the points brought up within that post and following reblogs (threads? I don't know my tumblr lingo). The post focused on the identity aspect of alterhumanity, and the languages tied to these identity concepts.
But I'd encounter another issue--where everything else is also tied to anglocentrism. One of them being spiritual belief.
I often felt a little disconnected from many others within the community due to my largely different background. My family and extended family, even beyond, are largely eastern in spirituality and beliefs, with Buddhism being the religion that has a larger presence in my life. Christianity was sort of like a myth to me, horror stories and tales told to me in passing. Not to say there wasn't any education going into that area, but the class about world religion back in high school means the focus is on religion across the world. I had family friends and others in my life that are Christian, not enough for me to understand all that went into such a belief. I was living in a bubble of eastern influenced belief, and then I didn't comprehend what it's like to not have such a background.
The stronger irony is that I didn't learn about the finer details of Christianity until I was knee-deep in the alterhuman community. I'm constantly a bit off-kilter when I talk about spirituality with others, and there's just a bit of a gap with others if things originate too much from earthen-established faith belief. I'm still trying to learn what Pegan and New Age encompass. I mean, they could very well be concepts I am well acquainted, but just in a different cultural lens and language.
Of course, I also need to be aware of how much and how strongly my perspective skews my view on things. I know there are those who share similar backgrounds with me within the community, and the community at large does try to keep a worldly view. Considering many of us are from completely different worlds or realms as well.
Thinking on this, it's a strange place to be. We try to focus on individual experiences without the influence of this earthen realm, but still the importance of society and culture, or everything else that follows, does have impact on our own perception of things. How we see animal through human angle, how we explain our experience with what we had outside the alterhuman scope. We acknowledge that fictionkin, therian, and otherkin are all the same experience by technicality, with different focuses (I need category terms that aren't identify-as focused, fictionfolk (which we have), animalfolk (do people use that?), and otherfolk? nonhumanfolk??). I'm wondering if this is sort of like being from fiction is like. You have something preestablished, that shaped you, and every new understanding is built upon this foundation.
I'm not entirely certain where I'm going with this, ramble as my writings tends to be. Originally I had wanted to answer in specific a Writing Wednesday prompt posted within the Alterhuman Community, specifically in regards to what sort of community project I'd like to see.
Perhaps a zine featuring alterhumanity from non-English earthen culture? I only am proficient in 2.5 languages, but I feel that it'd be beneficial at large. Talon's post inspired and encouraged folks to write in non-English languages they know (I'm not saying Native Language, I have very complicated relation with things like that…), and that is certainly a start. Though we probably will have quite a headache first just in trying to figure out how to translate concept terms.

This exchange made me realize that many of you tend to forget that Carmy is a late bloomer who never had any girlfriend before Claire which actually explains his awkward behavior. I know it because I too am an awkward late bloomer (around the same age as Carmy and sharing a lot of common with him) and his behavior totally made sense to me lol
I want you all to keep in mind that when you've been closed off romantic elationships for your entire life, you're not handling them the same way people who started dating in their teens or young adult years (Carmy is most likely in his early 30s and never got into any relationships before).
Carmy, like any late bloomer, was used to never being considered romantically, which explains why he freaked out when Claire started flirting with him and stopped thinking rationally (which is very unfamiliar for emotionally avoidant type like Carmy or I - we'll come back to this later). I understand Carmy's move of giving a false number to Claire yet still accepting to go out with her later may be confusing to many people, but as a fellow late bloomer I immediately clocked it : we are not comfortable with the attention people give to us, but we *know* this behavior is not normal/unhealthy so Carmy eventually giving in may be a way of eventually getting into the mold and abide to the "if you don't open up to others and give them chances, how can you expect building actual relationships?" mantra. Because deep down we want to be like others (because being so closed off all the time can become emotionally draining) and seek to find a way to fit in.
Tumblr media
Another thing about people like Carmy/emotional avoidant type is that by being so closed off to the world, we are also extremely deceptive about who we truly are. It makes sense to me that Carmy hides his feelings for Syd and would rather project them onto Claire. That's definitely manipulative, but we'd rather do that than get "uncovered". We tend to think very rationally and our sense of self perseveration is incredibly strong. I just know that howing his bare feelings has to be one of the most terrifying and embarrassing thing for Carmy.
We also don't mind getting confused as someone we are not in which we feel some sort of relief because it keeps our real self away from others perception (if that make sense???). Carmy passing himself as "Logan" in that party -while being quite extreme- is totally on brand actually lol. I regularly get mistaken as a male (I'm lowkey gnc) but I never bother correcting people lol I'm fine being whatever they see me as, as long it's not the real me.
Talking about self preservation: we don't ask and don't tell. Carmy sister being mad at him for never asking her whether she was okay was extremely relatable because I tend to get the same reproach from my own sisters. Very typical of us. Fleeing to the other side of the globe to cope with a family member death is something I *get* because we are avoidant in nature. We can also be insane hustlers and tend to cope with grief or unhealed emotions through work.
On the positive side, we are extremely independent and self reliant. The scene in the fridge (last episode of season 2) where Carmy loses his shit and says he was mad at himself for indulging in all "this bullshit" (= love and relationships) I FELT THAT. Countless times I prayed to God to remove from my heart my "shameful" longing for love & intimacy that I always felt hindered me in my quest for excellence & satisfaction in any other aspect of my life. Because we are very rational & practical people and lowkey despise "useless" stuff like relationships and feelings. And that's where the messed up part comes up.
I wouldn't be surprised Carmy lowkey despises Claire for being so clingy and courting him so openly. As I just said, we tend to look down on (bold) displayal of love and emotion which lowkey repulse us. I think that's why Carmy dislikes his sister's husband when he's an all around good guy. He may have a resentment (and even jealousy?) against this man that has no issue showing affection - not only to his sister, but also the rest of the family. Which Carmy still struggles to do so far.
This may also explain why Carmy is suddenly so cold with Claire when he's serving her at the table (beside him allegedly previously making up his mind to break up with her). That's why the moment he hears that voicemail of Claire saying she "loves him" he THROWS AWAY his phone. Because that's disgusting.
Tumblr media
I think the CarmyxSyd dynamic is unique because there's a dimension of respect between both. They share the same passion for cuisine, and Sydney constantly pushes Carmy out of his comfort zone. As an avoidant emotional attachment type myself, when I think of the type of people I potentially could be attracted to, I can only think of people I have deeply respect for, and bring objective value into my life AND skills. I've seen people criticize the fact that Sydney was pretty much a "warrior worker" for Carmy (and pretty much the whole Bear crew) and that's true. But regardless it's a good or bad thing, that's pretty much the type of profile that may attract avoidant emotional type of people. Bonding through work & shared passion is our safest field to build romantic connection through. That's why Carmy made Syd sign a partnership agreement instead of a marriage contract 💅🏾 that's the safest way for him to convey his feelings.
Again, we are very rational people and in every type of relationship, we instinctively jauge whether & how this person might be useful for us. It doesn't mean we built relationship with people depending on whether they can be useful for us or not, but that's definitely in a part of our head somewhere. Yes, that's fucked up (1/because we are 2/that's why emotionally distant people can become pretty unlikable - i.e Carmy carmying), but you have to keep that in mind to understand how Carmy moves. Which tracks back to Claire's actual purpose I've elaborated just before. He definitely uses her, but most likely unknowingly.

There are a number of reasons why I’m exhausted and feeling depleted from my usual ‘mojo’ these days; my life is complex, but other than that, what I’ve been feeling lately, is a deep sadness and frustration at the level of indoctrination as it relates to Israel.
After dedicating years of my life to spreading hard truths about almost every aspect of our lives; from politics, to finance, to medicine, education etc, the hardest truths to share, relate to religious beliefs.
It’s baffling to me, to see how the same people that woke up to other hard truths, refuse to understand that in the same way that we were fooled, conned, and indoctrinated in other areas of our lives, religion has been probably the most effective tool of cohersion and manipulation.
It’s particularly painful to me, as a Christian, to understand how Christianity was infiltrated in order to create the largest group of Zionists in the world. This to me is shocking.
How incredibly evil is it, to turn such beautiful people into the defenders of such a horrid political agenda?! An agenda of ethnic cleansing, genocide and destruction. An agenda that goes against everything that Christianity stands for!
I received this email last week, which is not unique, I get many like this, (I’m sure many of you might agree with this man’s words). Personally, I feel it captures the level of mind control very clearly:
“Laura, I believe your mojo will return when you cease to criticise the Lord's chosen people. Certainly, women and children are being harmed, as will always happen in war, but it cannot be otherwise when fighting evil. The Lord in the past has even commanded Israel to completely destroy wicked peoples.
These murderous enemies of Israel are totally influenced by Satan, and are teaching their children the same hatred. By not fully supporting Israel, you are supporting them, and thus foregoing the blessings of the Holy Spirit of God, which Spirit has been evident in your uplifting writings, up until now.”
This is what I can say; if your God is one that would ‘choose’ some people over others, then that is NOT my God.
If your God can excuse the murder of 20,000 children for any reason, then that is NOT my God.
If your God sets the prerequisite of the establishment of one particular nation for his return and our salvation, then that is NOT my God.
And if your God would make you defend the indefensible at the hands of the same people that killed Jesus, then that is most definitely, NOT my God.
The time has come for many Christians to have the courage to face the fact that we were infiltrated and manipulated to do someone else’s bidding.
Let’s wake up to EVERYTHING, not just to some things.
- Laura Aboli
I have to say I agree with her 👆 it's time to become fully awake and aware, Don't You Think? 🤔

August Week 3: Using Your Senses
This week we’re going to be talking about our senses and how they can help us relate to our craft, our practice, magic, and well, life in general. Sometimes we take for granted the simple magic that is our senses. It is these senses that help us connect to the world around us, literally, while also spiritually, emotionally and even magically connecting us to it. We’re going to focus on our regular senses this week and delve into those extra sensory topics next week. For now, let’s focus on taste, touch, sight, sound, and hearing.
Monday - Touch
Introspection/ Research - Think about your sense of touch. What does it have to do with your craft, literally and metaphorically? When you touch the tools you use, the ingredients you use, the space you work in, what does that sense tell you about those things and about your craft in general? How does touch help you connect to your practice?
Practical/ Journal - in order to do the above prompt, pick a few items in your witchy collection and just… touch them. If you have a ritual blade, touch the metal (carefully) and write in your journal what the sense of touch tells you about it. Same with a crystal, a plant, a candle and so on. Make a list of the items and describe their physical feeling in your journal and what it tells you about that item in both a practical sense and magical sense.
Research/ New Page - herbal research - pick an herb from your list and look into everything about it! History and myth, associations and culinary uses, magical uses and mundane! How does it grow? Where does it grow? Everything!
Tuesday - Taste
*Disclaimer* I don’t recommend and will not recommend tasting anything that you don’t know the chemical makeup of. Do not ingest plants or crystals or anything without knowing how it will affect you and if you are allergic.
Introspection/ Research - With the above disclaimer in mind, think about how taste can aid you in your magical practice. If you brew tea or do kitchen witchery especially, what is it about the flavors that influence those aspects of your craft? Do you preferences in taste influence the herbs and spices and ingredients you use when brewing or cooking for magical or ritual purposes? Does the flavor itself have associations for you? How else can taste help to determine what you do and use in your craft?
Practical/ Journal - Make a cup of herbal tea, or bake bread or make a meal that has magical connections or connotations. Why did you choose the ingredients you chose? Again, how does the taste of it influence your magic and craft? How does it serve you magically?
Wednesday - Sight
Introspection/ Research - Think about how your practice looks. To you. Recently with the upsurge of popularity of witchcraft in online spaces, there is a debate of the validity of what our craft looks like in private versus what we publicly share. That’s not to say that what everyone shows publicly isn’t true to their practice, but sometimes it isn’t. Is your craft as clean and neat as what you share (if you share pictures or videos)? What sights are important to you in your craft? Does it have to be a certain look? Do your tools and materials have to have a certain aesthetic? Or is it more about the practicality of things?
Practical/ Journal - if you have an altar or workspace, take a long look at it and describe what it looks like. How important is the style to you? What things look most important? Is there anything central to it? Is it a hodgepodge? What things draw your eye most? What things compete for the attention of your sight? If you can, and have the means, go out and find something for your workspace that catches your eye.
Research/ New Page - gem research - pick a crystal from your list, or whatever else you may be researching and learn as much as you can about it! Chemical makeup, where it’s found, what it’s used for? History and myths, everything!
Thursday - Sound
Introspection/ Research - close your eyes and listen. It’s perhaps the hardest and the easiest thing to do. But truly hearing, allowing yourself to hear the world around you, can take time. What sounds do you associate with your craft and practice? What sounds make magic real for you? Do you listen to certain music? Is it a certain animal sound? A sound from nature? Maybe just a specific note or instrument like a bell. How can you utilize sound for your practice? Listening to music during your spells and rituals, connecting with the power of the wind through its sound in the leaves. What and how does sound perform magic?
Practical/ Journal - if you have a bell or flute or other instrument at your altar or workspace, find out what note(s) it plays! Is that not specifically something you chose or did you choose the instrument itself? Do you hum or sing for your practice? Figure out what sounds help you feel magical and journal about them. What emotions do they stir, what thoughts?
Friday - Smell
Introspection/ Research - Think about the candles and incense and herbs you use and what they smell like. Are there certain smells that make you feel magical or think of your craft? How does smell influence your craft? When you perform magic, spells or rituals, generally things smell good, yeah? What connotations would bad smells have in your practice and craft? Think hard about ways that smell is influenced by your craft and how smell influences your craft!
Practical/ Journal - if you’re able, take some herbs whose smells your like, figure out their associations, and dress a candle with them! Why did you choose those scents? Were they sharp? Sweet? Savory? Sour? And what about the candle, what scent did it have, if any?
This week had a strange few prompts, but connecting even the basics of life to our craft can help us better understand it, as well as ourselves. The basics and fundamentals are important to remember and review. Use all of your senses to connect to your craft.

My headcannon is that when human beings first came to existence, they were supposed to have alters and headmates to share the load of work, but then it just went away, but all of them are still in the back of every person’s mind like: “Dude, what the hell? Tell Tiffany you didn’t wanna go to that party! Screw being late to school, pet that damn dog!” And we just perceive that as our thoughts and talking to ourselves. /j
—Geovanni
Seriously though, what do you think (or is there evidence of) a survival mechanism behind plurality, or did it begin when urban and modern society began due to stress and such?
Ooh! There are so many layers to this! This is going to be fun! 😊
20,000 BC
I think we can start with dissociation, because let's face it, living in the past probably would have been pretty traumatic. And it makes sense people would have a mechanism to separate themselves from that trauma.
Imagine the year is 20,000 BC. You're a child being raised in a home made of the bones of the mighty mammoths. The world outside is a harsh, frigid wasteland. It's kill or be killed. And you've been taught this from a young age. Your youth is preparing to hunt the monsters that stalk the land, like the great beast whose bones were used to construct your home.
As you grow, you likely would find yourself living a dual-life. On one hand, you're the killer, the hunter of monsters. On the other, you need to be kind and caring to your family and friends because humans are social creatures. You need to be able to put the killer inside you to sleep when you're at home.
I don't usually think of the metaphor of having a work self and home self as being a plural thing. But I think it might become one when your "work self" involves entering a dangerous world of monsters where you need to hunt to survive every day.
This, I feel, is a good explanation for the evolutionary advantage of dissociation to our ancestors
But that leaves out non-traumagenic plurality.
Before we get to this, let's talk about something that isn't plural itself but is related.
Evolution of Dream Characters!
Here's one curious feature of humanity that we all kind of take for granted...
We have a holodeck in our head! An ability to, every night, create realistic mental simulations of the world.
There are many explanations for this ability, but personally, I take the view that it's intended as a conflict simulator. A danger room without the danger. How do you ensure that a species will survive the dangers of the world? You let them simulate the dangers they expect will happen every single night. It's like how a speech will go better if you rehearse what you're going to say first. Being forced to simulate a hunt will you make better prepared for it.
In my opinion, dreams are rehearsal for battling sabretooth tigers.
This is why so many dreams involve conflict, and even why we so often have nightmares. A nightmare is just your mind simulating how you would deal with something you're afraid of.
But where this gets really interesting and scary is that dreams don't just simulate circumstances and creatures. Dreams simulate people.
This also makes a lot of sense from an evolutionary perspective. There's an advantage to being able to predict how other people would react to you, and replay scenarios in your mind to train yourself for human interaction.
The strange thing is that these temporary people that we call dream characters are often fully autonomous. Even most lucid dreamers who learn to control other aspects of their dreams still can't control their dreams characters.
To me, this only makes sense if dream characters are temporary dissociated agents. Not exactly alters since they don't front. And not even full headmates since they don't last longer than the dream. But using similar mechanisms.
Evolution of Tulpas and Daydream Characters
With all of this in mind, I want to point out that daydreams and imagination exist for a similar reason as dreams. They're to simulate things. The difference is that daydreams and imagination are usually more controlled and less autonomous. You choose the simulation you want to run.
The reason that tulpas are able to exist is that, if someone were to imagine the same character over and over again, the brain might see that character as being more important. Conscious control over an imaginary character slows the simulation down and can interfere with it running, so the simulation needs to become automatized. And over time, with repeated interaction, that simulation could grow to develop its own autobiographical memories and become fully sapient.
In 20,000 BC, it wouldn't be recognized as a headmate, but probably some sort of external spirit or deity.
But why do these things work this way? Why is it possible for tulpas to exist, be sentient, and even front?
The brain is lazy
I think the brain's design cut corners and uses the same mechanisms for all of these that it uses to make the singlet "self."
There's a certain logic to this. If you need the brain to simulate other sentient people, why wouldn't it just use the same ones it uses to simulate the host?
Especially when the brain wasn't designed. These various mechanisms likely just evolved out of each other. Did the brain evolve to simulate a "self" first and later evolve to simulate "other" people? Or did we have the ability to simulate other people first, and later our sense of self evolved from that?
Whatever the case may be, I'm sure one did evolve from the other, and this is the reasons for a lot of the oddities we experience in plurality.
Anyway, that's my theory! 😁

my predictions for the henry danger movie
in honor of the movie coming out in TWO DAYS!!! im dumping everything ive got & for each prediction i get right i get a gold star from myself for being right/j
disclaimer i haven't watched any leaks or anything that's come out after the one glee dango released where henry falls into missys room so if any of this has been even slightly right plzplzpxl don't spoil it but but :)
once the movie comes out im gonna reblog myself seeing what I got right / wrong (mostly probably wrong but shh) for the funnies, DROP UR THEORIES TO ME TOO IF YOU WANT!!
- missy stole the RAD from evil science corp or smth related to bill evil. how'd she do it? no clue! bill evil isn't in dystopia at all! but it would be like so cool if we reconnected rick twitler stuff even vaguely like that because im never done thinking about it
- henry will end up almost dying and then missy will save him
- charlotte and or ray will have a small little cameo / feature in one of the universes to feed the fans some them breadcrumbs
- there will be an angst/pump up moment between henry & missy where it's kinda a call back to how henry felt really stuck/like shit with ray towards the end & comparing it to how he kinda feels now because he has no clue what to do to fix this? like i rlly do want them to mess w the jaspers sidekick au to its full extent and kinda do a swap between jasper and henrys roles in the series like so in that universe jaspers the super cool flashy hero & henrys the weird comic relief best friend/sidekick & so when our universe henry feels like shit about not knowing what to do its like tenfold because of that aspect?? and missy is gonna have to like pump him up to keep the story going & it's gonna bond them more
- i think the way the different henrys are gonna work is gonna be slightly weird. like for each universe it has its respective henry, but since our henry jumps into all of them what i think happens is that he like rather than becomes a whole new entity in that world he assumes the consciousness of the version of himself that's already there & has vague knowledge of the lore the other henry has lived in. like for example on how that works, our universe henry jumps into the jasper's sidekick au. when he does, he just takes the body of the henry that already exists here but if hes asked to recall some canon event that missy wrote about, he kiiinddaa can, but it's still kinda fuzzy. but like the henrys don't duplicate, that same jasper's sidekick!henry isn't different from dystopia!henry because they're the same guy at their core, so he just like shares a consciousness w that guy for a second. as goes for the other characters in the story!!
- the movie takes place at LEAST a year post the df ending because that would give time for charlotte to end her gap year in dystopia & have been long gone to her new life by the time that the movie plot rolls around. therefore that would be the reason why charlotte isn't in it
- they WILL NOT WIN!! like they'll win in conventional terms like take down vampire piper or smth (which is probably gonna be one of the main antagonists) but there will be implied emotional/physical after effects of some kind that render them not completely victors but still victorious nonetheless
- i stand by the idea that blackouts gonna be in it. the trailer w that dude dressed in all black is ABSOOLLUYTEELY BLACKOUT DEAR GOD!!!! if it's not im gonna be upset but i sossoosososo hope it's him because i really did want to see more of his character because you can't just canonize a soul eating bounty hunter who's out for the protagonist and never address it again like what???
- jasper and henry are gonna be SO fucked up w dystopia and the actual second that piper & schwoz pull up they're gonna try to urge them to go back home immediately without any hesitation.
- also, adjacent to the last two slightly, i don't entirely know if jasper and henry are gonna be the actual like epitome of good vs evil, i think they just take jobs from whoever pays them enough without really background checking the job because it's like.. whatever pays the bills ig!!! since bizwatchs whole thing is "we handle ur bizness" do they really check what kind of business they're handling oorrr?? and i think they might've taken a bit of a fucked up job & accidentally pissed off blackout who was like an ally to the guy they took out and then that's why blackout's after them!! and then that's the entire plot for like 1/4th of the movie until missy pulls up
- speaking of missy, she will be COOL AS SHIT!!! hopefully im gonna end up loving her and if not ill cry
that's all I've got 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥‼️‼️

A Witch’s Ally Book Review
Tumblr media
When I put this book on my list I was hesitant. Many books found in the new age/witchcraft section that talk about animals in witchcraft have appropriation and/or inaccurate information on familiars that can endanger our beloved pets (in my view as someone who has been a veterinary assistant).

“From the earliest grimoires, animal familiars and companions have been a vital part of witchcraft. This book covers all aspects of working magic with animal allies and how to create profound relationships with your own pets. In addition to folklore and history, Dodie Graham McKay shares dozens of charms, recipes, rituals, and more.
Featuring deep insight on how witches relate to their families and companions, this book helps you work with animal energy and see the world from their unique point of view. Explore supernatural entities and long-ago symbolism, partner with animals in body and spirit, and enjoy stories from Dodie about her relationship with animal allies. From making pumpkin oat dog biscuits to shapeshifting via dance, this book will enrich your experiences either the animals in your life.”

What I Liked
The first discussion was on the difference between familiars and pets. Familiars being a spirit in which the witch forms a pact and a physical animal being a pet. McKay does add in "animal companions" as a third separate thing; in her view a physical animal that shows interest in your magic and, while considered a pet to outsiders, is different from one... I have my own thoughts on that. While the book focuses specifically on animals, and thus has sections on animal familiars specifically, she does acknowledge that familiars are not necessarily animals. Which is great as this often gets lost on people starting to look into working with familiars.
Moving on from there, McKay talks about the appropriation of the term "spirit animal" and why those outside Native American communities shouldn't be using the term. She then goes on to give alternative words we can use that are more accurate to what most people are talking about, which is a nice refreshing way of talking about appropriation. People like to talk about what not to do but never give an alternative for what we SHOULD be doing. These words include mascots, charge, daemon, tutelary, fylgja, and more.
I really liked the historical talk about familiars. It was well done and I have noticed a trend towards better historical research from recent witchcraft books. It is simply focused on familiars and not anything else related to witchcraft from the period, but having that narrow field I think helped her in this case. I was also happy to see accurate folklore on dogs, though I do wish it had gone a bit further, though this book is focusing on more than just dogs. There is folklore on other animals that I am less familiar with so I cannot speak to it's accuracy (though some I do recognize), but the overall dog folklore was very well done.
There's a whole chapter discussing divination with animals and McKay specifically talks about reading omens. Because there are so many people who ask "is this a sign?" here on the internet, she added a checklist for people to go off of when asking themselves these questions. It has some good points of reference.
There was a section in the book that talked about spending meditative time with your physical animal and touching it's body. I think this is overall good advice for any pet owner, magical or otherwise. Being able to run a hand over your animal and tell if something is off, either with their muscle or in the way they react to your touch, can be a good indicator that something is wrong which can prompt you to get them medical attention at an early stage. The author is overall very good about impressing how much responsibility it is to take on an animal, you are responsible for its health, wellbeing, and overall manners (which can affect the other two).
I personally am not a fan of essential oils, however if you were to use them this book has good information on essential oil safety when it comes to pets. Specifically cats and dogs.
There's a little bit about working with wild animals. One of the points made is about environmentally safe offerings. McKay lists options for offerings to leave outside or how to leave offerings inside if they would be unhealthy for the animals of the wild. At one point within the book she does give recipes for suet cakes for birds, homemade biscuits for dogs, and catnip water for cats. There's also a section discussing the laws surrounding taking animal parts and how they vary depending on where you live. There are two laws that span the United States and Canada (the author is Canadian), such as the migratory bird act, which she goes into a bit more detail with.
A surprise for me was seeing the ritual of reddening the bones as the author is Gardnerian Wiccan. So that was a fun little thing for me.

What I Didn’t Like
The author speaks about Doreen Valiente briefly, calling her "the mother of modern witchcraft." While I would say this description is apt, I also know from reading Doreen's biography that it was specifically stated that she would not want to be called the mother of anything. Maybe Aunty or Godmother.
While there is occasional in text sourcing, there is not as much as I would like when McKay discusses animal associations with deities. I would like to know where she found the information, not that it's wrong. It's being presented as historical fact, so it would be nice to have some sources for further research. Connected to this, she talks a bit about Inari and kitsune. She seems to miss that kitsune is simply the Japanese word for fox, and not a separate fox spirit. We associate this word with a trickster fox spirit in Japanese culture because all fox, in Japanese culture, are kitsune. If that makes sense.
Throughout the book there is this disconnect when it comes to journeying. McKay likens it to meditation. Meditation is just quieting the mind, being present, and focusing inward. I say "just" but this is actually quite difficult without practice. It can be used to eventually enter an altered state of consciousness, however it is not journeying. Another word for hedge riding or soul flight, journeying is when your spirit separates from your body and ventures to the otherworld, or simply around this one. You can find more on it here, here and here. She also seems to think that we modern people are assuming that people in the early modern period believed in spirit flight and not physical flying on a broomstick to the witch's meeting, even though we have specific records stating that they definitely did believe in spirit flight. Though because the early modern period was right before the enlightenment, near the end there were many who thought it was "merely hallucinations."
I also find that McKay has a major bias against sacrifice saying "these practices should be avoided and remain a part of human history, not the present." She completely ignores the fact that many religions today use animal sacrifice as part of their ceremonies. Should these cultures be relegated to the past? Are they somehow inferior? Based on her discussion of this, specifically in the divination chapter, I can only assume that she is still stuck in the satanic panic where only "evil cults of satan" would "sacrifice helpless animals to their demonic lord" (note that these are not quotes from the book). Like... as witches and pagans (since she is Gardnerian Wiccan) I think we can leave the Christian scare tactics in the past. Animal sacrifice is not what you see in horror movies, even among witches who live in "modern society."
The first spell, "Drawing an Animal Familiar", has the practitioner basically call upon a random spirit and then wait to get messages for seven consecutive nights. The problem I have with this is that the Materials section calls for three herbs (the practitioner chooses from a list) for dreamwork and astral travel (there is no dreamwork or astral travel in the working) but then doesn't say what exactly these herbs are meant to do. Some of them I can assume because I know their common correspondences but what is dittany of Crete, lemon balm, lavendar, etc. meant to do to help with astral travel? I can guess but I'm neurodivergant and I need you to tell me what you think I should be using these for if you're giving me a spell. I know what I would use them for, but I don't know if you're doing the same thing here and that can change the outcome.
There's also an "Adoption Commitment Ritual" that doesn't take into consideration the animals body language and health. Now, it does say you can use a poppet, but it's mostly written for the physical animal to be there and the poppet is just if you can't keep them still for the ritual. It wants you to light incense, which is not good for the animals respiratory system. Ideally you would have ventilation but I even keep my dog out of the room or wait until he is outside to burn incense even with ventilation. It also says you should gaze into their eyes. If this is a dog, especially a dog that you just got, that's a sign of aggression. If you've had your dog for a while and it knows you, it's possible that it would be fine with this but since this is an adoption commitment, it's more likely this is for a new animal. If you've ever looked your dog in the eye and it's looked away from you it's because it's trying to show you it's not aggressive and doesn't want any trouble.
I wish there had been more to the "Working with Animal Spirits" chapter, but it was mostly just making ink to substitute the use of blood. Sure I can see that being a way to call in the animals spirit but... most of the ingredients have nothing to do with the animal? There's one ritual for shapeshifting that is good and you see everywhere for an example of how to shapeshift in spirit form, but everything else is just making ink. There could be so much more here.
Lastly, McKay talks about if you're going to eat meat you shouldn't get it from unethical farming practices... but doesn't tell you how to avoid them. She could have easily spoken about local farms that you can buy directly from, or raising your own, or how to research ethical farming practices, etc. But she just ends it at, eat less meat. I can tell she's trying to not be preachy about vegetarianism, especially with her added "I also crave meat (especially beef) so I understand eating it occasionally." But there's not a single thing about being a mindful consumer. Just "do your best!"
⛧─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───⛧
Overall Thoughts
I feel like, while there are good aspects of this book, it could have gone deeper. It's very surface level work which was disappointing. Maybe a focus on either working with physical animals or working with familiars would have been better for this book instead of trying to encompass them all. I do think that we also need to be taking into consideration that the author is a Gardnerian Wiccan, so even though we are talking about folklore and history in some areas of this book this is not a traditional witchcraft look at these ideas. We do see how her Wiccan practice shapes her view when she talks about the afterlife and mourning her animal companion Oban. I also think talking about your pet as something that helps you with your magic, outside of gathering components such as hair, can be dangerous. Specifically for your pet. I feel like thinking your animal is somehow more attuned to magic than the others is along the same lines as people thinking their ADHD/Autistic child is a starseed. I really think this line of thinking really hindered the book as well when it comes to its surface level feeling. Like a floaty that kept it from sinking into the depths of animal practice.
⛧─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───⛧
Conclusion
While I won't be recommending this book, that doesn't mean someone else won't find it useful. If you would like to read it, the book can be found on Amazon, the publisher's website (Llewellyn), Pentagramsalem, Morgenstern Books, Booktenders, and more!

Scott Alexander just de-paywalled this piece, and I agreed enough with its perspectives and understanding of fantasy narratives that I wanted to make sure other people saw it.
But I disagreed enough that I wanted to spend a lot of time describing what it misses.
First off, he says "Each part of the fantasy universe has a load-bearing psychological function." Psychological, as a word, goes too far and is misleading here. Scott is entirely correct to look at these elements in functional terms: what do elves, and magic swords, and ancient civilizations DO to the narrative? And we find more enjoyable and memetic stories benefit from these functions, so we end up seeing them over and over again. But it's not a psychological need. It's not about the inner-workings of our mind, it's about the structure of stories that lets them flow well. It would be like saying that the fact that airlines list too-low ticket prices and recover it with hidden fees has a psychological basis, when it's more proximately caused by a broken market system.
For instance, one common fantasy trope Scott didn't mention, but is completely obvious, is the "disposable, unredeemable race or nation." Many fantasy stories have a large army that is either evil-in-essence, or immediately threatening, such that we have no moral qualm about seeing the heroes kill as many of them as possible. Why? Because it makes it a fun "tactical" game of how many soldiers can the "good guys" kill. That's a fun story! It's not because psychologically we want to dehumanize our enemies. It's because Gimli and Legolas's race for who can kill more orcs is a simple and narratively entertaining device.
Scott talked about Unsong in relation to this essay, and I really wonder if his reaction to that was "why Unsong doesn't do these things" or "Unsong leaned into these." Because well, Unsong has many of these tropes. The laptop with a talmudic AI on it is a macguffin. The angels are an ancient civilization. Etc.
Scott undersells just how rich the function of the ancient civilization is. He's correct that the ancients are a way to imbue the magic sword/whatever with non-reproducible power, but it's deeper than that. Many stories and ideologies are "prelapsarian" which means they describe an Edenic time "before the Fall" where everything was right and harmonious. Somehow they got corrupted and we now live in a fallen world where evil runs free. Our heroes, at least in part, want to return to that purity (even if in some aspects it is impossible.) That's what the ancient civilization is really: Eden.
I am stymied by the race question: why do fantasy stories keep going back to elves and dwarves, and sometimes halflings or goblins or dragons, but with extremely little diversity in the type of being we could share a world with. What necessary function do these specific races serve? There are several HALF descriptions that explain a little of this, but don't go the full way: 1. The most thoughtful fantasy authors see these humanoid races as standins for groups in human society, and think you should just write human-only fantasy to wrestle with those questions properly. 2. The people who are most interested in writing genuinely alien intelligences, just write science fiction. 3. Elves and Dwarves DO serve specific functions. Even though every different story has a twist on their elves and dwarves, they do all share some sort of class-identity. In short, Elves are french aristocrats, and Dwarves are semetic scottish. Elves are the groups higher on the class ladder, who are more beautiful, longer-lived, quieter, taller, and more tranquil and quieter (also more tragic.) Dwarves are the groups lower on the class ladder, who are rougher and more practical, more scientific or at least technologically-focused, and whose lives are more easily spent by the narrative. Most fantasy societies are gonna have a "higher class" and a "lower class" standin, and they might as well be Elves and Dwarves anyway. 4. Tolkien did not invent Elves, or Dwarves, or Halflings, or Dragons. But all of these are very old in mythology, and fantasy is much more interested in telling twists on 1000-year old stories, than it is about adding wholly new elements (if only because of what sells.)

Character ask game for Mateo and Logan???
Mateo and Logan!! Woo!!
Tumblr media
Logan first cause she’s the best ever actually
GOD THIS CHARACTER IS SOOO. So many feelings with her she’s the best ever she solos all of them but sometimes I just have to sit back and sigh. Especially that part where she asked Astrid why are you like that COMPLETELY out of line I think she deserved all that came after that. So so many thoughts but I mean i think the amount I talk abt her says enough I personally think im one of her number one fans if not number one but that’s just me!! Also relate to her alot she’s not 100% me but I relate to so many aspects of her she’s prob #2 on that list
Romantic pairings
BeastlyPerfection!! Astrid and Logan!! God they’re so peak, from starting off as being rivals and then slowly bonding over shared interests OH MY GOD ITS PEAAAK. Not much to say but they take up a lot of my head. Def my fav canon pairing #yuri4life
Copiedbeat…my pride my joy. I mean not to be bias but it’s my fav non cannon ship. I made them on my own when I thought it would be funny if Logan liked the clone of her best friend and then I got a concussion almost the same day LMAO. I thought it was a sign from the universe and they’ve just evolved from there on out. They’re my peak and I think about them every day
Non canon
LOGAN AND IZZIE OOOH MY GOD!! They’re!! The best friends ever!! When logan stayed behind to be doom domed with her to make sure she was ok and to make sure she was safe oh 😢😢 I think about them so so much
Cooper and Logan… I mean come on they’re really fun friends. Lesbian and gay friendships always last long
Mateo and Logan I think they would bully and tease each other constantly and they def aren’t best friends but they are for sure getting there!! Or at least friends for now
Unpopular opinion- some people only care about Logan’s character when it comes to ships and it’s really easy to see when that’s that case
Wish- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LOGANS HOME LIFE. I relate to her in the sense where my parents love me and we have our moments but they work so much I don’t see them much and idk I think seeing that with Logan would heal me personally!!
