Sorry for the influx of random talky posts today but it's been a day! First in my 100 baby save where my first set of twins finally aged up to infants, then I panicked over trying to have one adult take care of two and quit. Then of course I updated the game, updated and checked all my mods, did the batch fixes of the cc for Direct x11 and tattoos before I forgot.

Then we had the Barbie saga, that sim was trying to drive me to an early grave I swear! I'm very glad Hayley and Sarah could inform me that none of the 100 baby plumbob families wanted to be loaded so I know it is an issue with that save. Just no idea what to do about it.

Then Shay corrupting! Gave me a heart attack. Anyway managed to get her to her interior design gig and the BFF household liked it. You know how way back when Dream Home Decorator first came out and you finished a renovation it would do a slide show with the photos? Is there a bug fix somewhere to add that back in because it's sad not to get to see it...

Oh no I’m creating another au

This time I’m just trying to incorporate my main ocs into TPC for shits and giggles as a separate storyline to my main one

First off here’s a Zone ref-ish thing, no more joy and whimsy just angst

Second off here’s some info/brainstorming doodles featuring a new guy I made purely to make Decep go through the horrors (Zone’s design and the rebellion’s name has changed but the tidbits in the doodle are the same)

The Scalene Rebellion is against Dub, and isn’t affiliated with the caretakers, but goes around dismantling Dub’s anti-purification systems so they can purify things easier while also giving them a little nudge* if they feel they’re dawdling for too long

*They send someone to scare the caretakers into getting a move on

They only help the caretakers because they can’t purify anything themselves

They have members all over Paradise, but their main camp is in the CubeLands, where their captain resides, and there’s a good mix of both pure shapes and corrupted shapes involved (the majority is corrupts though)

Significant members of the rebellion include:

Zone (Captain)

Decep (Captain’s right hand)

Circubit and Cyanide (the unofficial caretaker/hero duo of the rebellion)

Ajacent (the IsoceLands’ scout)

Quintagon (the PolyLands’ scout)

…Barracuda? (Joined the rebellion after his climactic revival and subsequent realisation of just how far Dub had taken the corruption and how catastrophic the effects of that ended up being, no longer wanting to be affiliated with either side)

Quintagon and Ajacent joined the rebellion due to extreme dissatisfaction of how the caretakers were handling saving the world (and also boredom in Ajacent’s case), and kind of have to live a double life until the caretakers become aware of the rebellion’s existence

So my dragon age origins save file corrupted, which means I'm once again restarting my Stellan playthrough. And cause I'm insane, I must also redo all of my detailed notes. Hooray!!!

hi! what are your thoughts on the calypso scene in botl? read your tags on the percy thoughts on gods post and wanted to know

short answer:

the scene w calypso exists for the audience and to foreshadow ethan.

long answer:

percy has never divided the world like this. percy as a character already knows the outcome of this conversation; things aren't black or white. percy is an incredibly empathetic, observant, and intelligent character, and in the post anon is referring to, he shows this by understanding why hades was bitter (third quote) while simultaneously calling the gods out for their behavior (last quote). percy has never done something bc "the gods are his family," and that includes retrieving the lightning bolt in tlt, the closest u could get to this. similarly, percy never hated luke bc he was leaving camp or betraying the gods, percy's feelings abt luke are personal, to the point where it's a bit blinding.

as a more specific example using this scene, percy doesn't leave calypso bc of the gods.

percy genuinely considers staying on ogygia and only leaves bc of his personal loyalty to his friends. no where in his decision to leave does he bring up the gods, as family or something good that needs to be defended.

this is one of the reasons he and athena have that conversation in ttc abt his fatal flaw. the gods are scared of percy bc his continued loyalty to them isn't guaranteed. percy's idea of good vs bad is very nuanced and personal and his loyalty is much the same. but the audience, primarily young since the books are middle grade, might not be on that same level of understanding. this conversation establishes to the audience what percy already knows but hasn't said. and the audience needs to understand this bc it's the crux of luke's character in tlo.

furthermore, this conversation foreshadows ethan's character. ethan's primary motivation is getting recognition for the minor gods, his mother, his family, himself. he's willing to sacrifice a lot for this.

ethan knows that nemesis isn't good. he's not siding w her bc she's good. he's siding w her bc she's family and she's the only one who paid him any attention, good or bad.

this is also why ethan switches sides. he's not loyal to a side bc it's good vs bad, he's loyal to whoever will help him and his goals, his family. calypso's words here perfectly set up ethan's character, and makes it easier for the audience to understand where he's coming from.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

...Why was my first thought vampire fiction? Guess it's the whole long life thing and all the drama about it. And the gothic flair, too.

However, apparently I'm wanting to push Malleus out of his comfort zone so I'm kinda thinking some hard scifi. He'd get to be really baffled with the technology - not that we necessarily need to go futuristic for that. I'd also be interested to see how he'd deal in a world where he wouldn't have access to his magic - would he still maintain his easy confidence, and how much would it affect his sense of self in general, when he's so used to having all that magic at his disposal.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

Welp, I have a feeling this is where my lack of reading vignettes (or book 7) comes to bite me. The sass-offs he has with Leona are fun, but not necessarily a relationship I'd say I admire.

So, I'm rather trying to think of who Malleus has more of a mutual respect going on with.

Lilia is certainly one - their duking it out in beanfest, for example, was really fun, and there's also those more serious conversations they've had in book 6 (iirc). So there's mutual respect and understanding, but also some willingness to challenge each other. And a whole mentor-mentee but also royal-subject which makes for interesting dimensions in their dynamic.

I'm sure there's others too (Vil?), but alas I'm just totally blanking right now.

Also Malleus's amusement at the shamelessness Yuu and especially Grim display towards him is fun.

OHOHO! FUN ONES! Let's do the more lighthearted one first -

Are they easily embarrassed?

Quite! Tiarnan gets embarrassed easily when people prod him about how much he cares about certain folks (namely Moirin or Leon) since he'd love to wax poetic about them, but usually holds back because y'know, he's the refined diplomat! An arcane scholar! A former logistics officer! Those sorts of roles don't usually ask for a lot of emotion to be involved. In general, he gets a bit awkward and embarrassed about being emotionally vulnerable with others since he's had a few bad experiences with losing people he's close with. He is working on it though, because not doing so has directly led to Consequences™️

 What causes them to feel dread? 

Oh god this old man worries about so much stuff.

He's very afraid of corruption (something that takes hold of sidhe when they get old, or when they feel very intense emotions. It's the red and black stuff I've drawn Tiarnan with sometimes!). He's more afraid of it than a lot of sidhe usually are, both because of what has happened when he corrupts and for it happening to others he cares about.

Tiarnan very viscerally hates harming things (without giving too many character spoilers, it's in a way that's against the core of who he is), and seeing harm done to living creatures, so just the thought of him or his friends having to do that is enough to make him feel dread if he thinks about it for too long. Or worse, is directly exposed to violence for long periods of time.

These two sort of go hand-in-hand, as the easiest way to deal with a corrupted sidhe is to simply go kill them off (oops violence) so they get reincarnated into their next life, but the downside is that sidhe have a set respawn point and lose all their previous memories. So, you know, you could just kill your corrupting friend and they'll come back just fine! But they won't remember you and you likely won't see them for a while. You can work someone down from it if they haven't fully corrupted, but it's very hard and very dangerous.

The other part of corruption is that the way it manifests in a sidhe relates to their "aspect" - usually either an extreme manifestation or lack of the aspect manifesting at all. In Tiarnan's case, the last time he corrupted pretty badly he uh. He didn't hesitate to harm his friends/fellow party members when they got in his way and was in a "duty by any means" sort of state.

That second one was extra long hoo boy but hopefully it elaborated enough? It's lots of complicated interweaving things ^^;

      • He might jokingly block your path when you're stumbling half-asleep, protecting other survivors but ensuring you don’t get hurt either.

• ELLIOT

   • "No way, they're literally asleep as the killer?!"

   • Elliot is half-annoyed, half-amused. He takes this rare chance to hand out pizza freely without being interrupted by a rampaging killer.

   • Snarky comments are guaranteed: "Wow, killer of the year material right there."

• 007N7

   • "They’re so tired all the time… Are they okay?"

   • While others might find it hilarious, 007n7 feels genuinely bad for you. He probably even suggests taking a break.

   • He avoids causing trouble, just teleporting around the map to ensure you’re not waking up to chaos.

• BUILDERMAN

   • "Well, at least I can focus on repairs without getting attacked."

   • Builderman uses the opportunity to upgrade and set traps for when you do wake up. He mutters about how the round’s timer keeps extending because of your naps. (even if you don't kill anyone.) 

• Secretly grateful since it gives him time to build without the usual stress.

• Instead of waking you, he flutters closer with smooth, almost gliding movements, crouching beside you with a playful flick of his smaller wing-like ear appendages.

• He finds the situation fascinating and a little ridiculous. You, a chosen killer, asleep on the job? It's enough to make him hide his face behind his wings, shoulders shaking with silent laughter.

KILLER REACTION (SPECTATING):

   • "Pitiful."

   • Finds the situation absurd but entertaining. They remark on how "Robloxian incompetence" always surprises them.

   • If allowed, they will target you next round so you can move more instead of sleeping.

• JOHN DOE

• "This is a waste of an opportunity."

• John Doe watches you with cold calculation, his corrupted claws twitching slightly as the binary code seeps off his body. To him, this isn't funny—it's a tactical disaster. A killer who spends the entire round asleep? Unacceptable.

• At one point, he leans closer to the screen, his red eye flickering as he considers how he would have approached the round differently. His voice is a distorted hiss, but you can sense the frustration.

Did this one fast since it's a headcannon🙇‍♀️

Currently re-hacking my 3ds so I can see the dinosaurs fighting aliens but unfortunately software is the modern form of wizardry and I am simply Not Allowed to backup my SD card. Like it's fine if I copy File A into the zip file, and it's fine if I copy File B in, but god forbids me from putting both in together and will corrupt the zip file as punishment.
