that moment when you almost get locked in a library overnight

#university is a fun place #had to leave through this really sketchy looking staff only elevator #in the past two days I’ve gotten lost in two libraries #I stg there’s literal space dilation in one of the libraries #we genuinely found the backrooms in there #it’s this tiny little two story library from the outside #but then you stumble into the stacks #and there’s this staircase with an almost endless descent #it goes on for eons #just floors upon floors of stacks #and on one of the floors in this off white room #we started hearing this clicking noise #and it started getting louder #and louder #and the only way out was going up or down the rickety never ending staircase #or going in a really sketchy elevator with flickering lights #and-#anyways needless to say I will be going back #there’s this locked secret room on the ‘4th’ floor #(of the building that only has 2 floors from the outside)#and I will be finding out what’s inside it #university #academia #libraries #books and libraries #chaotic academia

if you’re talking about the original flcl then it’s really only gonna get weirder from here - it’s one of those shows where if you really don’t fw the first episode then you might wanna drop it imo. flcl has very prevalent themes about adolescent sexuality + grooming, so maybe at the very least see if u can find a content warning guide before continuing

if not then tbh i think it’s ok if you just wanna watch a canti compilation on youtube lol. i won’t judge

#i think it’s worth the watch for the art style and animation alone but it’s a show that plenty of people just will not like and that’s okay #it wasn’t until my second watch that i REALLY started enjoying it as a whole and allowing myself to dig into it tbh #idk. flcl is something you kinda have to let grab you by the hand and drag you onto the rollercoaster #it’s a show about pushing limits in a lot of ways. from its story to its themes to its style #which means anything you didn't really like in the first episode is probably gonna get one million times louder in the next few #asks

I currently do a lot of Algebra 1 support because the Freshmen need a lot of help adjusting to high school math. The middle school curriculum in my district is....lacking, to say the least. I know a lot of other districts are in the same situation as us right now. Not the teacher's fault, ofc, it's a top-down decision. But it does mean that my students are coming in not knowing anything, like even basic stuff like "what's 2 * 3" or "solve x - 5 = 10" which has been a fun challenge! But they seem to be getting the hang of it now. Though, fractions still trip them up, but I'm trying my best to build their confidence with it!

I will give them a LOT of credit for much of their overall attitude, too. We've had some very frank class discussions about how behind they are in math because of the way everything is currently set up with the whole national grade inflation issue, and they've really taken it well. Most of my students (both gen ed and IEP/504) are very motivated to catch up, even if it's hard. Though, ofc, people all have their off days! But most of my students reallyyy are trying. I give them a TON of credit for that. They're basically learning multiple years of math at once. That's very tough!
