Moving back to Seoul after studying abroad in the States, Y/n couldn’t decide if fate wanted to punch her in the gut or give her a warm hug after she finds herself reconnecting with an old group of friends by pure chance. The only thing is, she didn’t leave on good terms with one of them.

a/n this is a pretty short written part that takes place right before the gc messages in the last part, I’ll be so honest that I am really out of practice with writing at the moment cause I haven’t worked on anything in so long 😅 so I am really sorry if this chapter isn’t good, but I hope you guys will stick around for the long haul!

You huffed as you placed the last of your suitcases in the living room of your new apartment. The rest of your belongings would be arriving at the end of the week, which you were not looking forward to unpacking. The apartment was nice enough, your dad had done a good job of finding something to your taste. Simple and functional.

“Are you ready to go see your mom?” The sound of your dad’s voice interrupted your thoughts, you looked over to see him standing in the doorway of the apartment. “Yeah, let’s go see mom.” You replied, grabbing your wallet and heading out of the apartment to go to the hospital to see your mom.

Your mom had been sick for a while, having been diagnosed with lung cancer a year after you moved abroad to study at a college in America, and while you had wanted to immediately drop your studies and go back home to be there for your parents, your mom wanted you to stay and graduate to earn your degree. So after graduating a month ago, your dad asked you to return home because she was getting worse, and had been admitted to the hospital for around a week by now.

It was late afternoon, both you and your father took the elevator down. “Your mom is a fighter, you know that?” Your dad interrupted the silence, receiving a solemn nod from you. “Yeah, I know that, mom doesn’t give up easily.” You had been trying to keep yourself distracted while you were in America, but there was always a constant worry for your mom and dad in the back of your mind. Both of them were getting older, and with your mom being sick, you dreaded the possibility of receiving a phone call from your dad telling you she passed while you weren’t there for her and her last moments. But now you were back in Seoul, and you were bound and determined to be there for your family.

Soon the elevator stopped at the level that led to the parking garage, and as the doors opened you were greeted by the faces of two men. A surprised noise escaped the one with a mole under his left eye, only to be dragged out of the way by his friend who looked well built and might’ve only been an inch taller than the other man. They looked familiar, but you couldn’t quite put names to the faces, until the one with the mole spoke up.

“Y/n? Is that really you?” Then it clicked, you could never forget that annoying voice, although it was less high pitched than it was in high school. Then it also hit you who was standing next to him, Jesus did San change a whole lot. “Wooyoung? San?”

“Oh my god! How have you been? Why are you back in Korea? I thought you planned on staying in America permanently?” Wooyoung rattled on, no less different than the last time you had talked to him, which had been the day you both graduated high school. “Wooyoung, chill, one question at a time.” San reprimanded his best friend, you shook your head in disbelief. You hadn’t thought about them in so long, it was a really weird feeling to be seeing them at the moment.

“I’ve been good, and yes I was going to stay in America, but some things have come up and I had to move back for the time being.” You explained as much as you could without delving into the details of why you were back, even if they were some of your closest friends in high school, it still had been years since you had any contact with them and people can change. You didn’t think it was necessary for them to know what was happening in your personal life at the moment.

“Oh, well, we’re glad you’re back. Are you moving into this apartment?” San asked, and it might’ve been an attempt to keep Wooyoung from prying any further as it looked like that was what he was about to do. “I am, why? Do you guys live here?” You asked, now curious. San nodded, but before he could say much else, your dad interrupted with an obviously fake cough. “Sorry, to interrupt, but we have to get going, Y/n. Visitation hours will be ending soon.” He said as he began walking to his parked car, you turned back to tell San and Wooyoung goodbye, missing the glint of curiosity behind both male’s gazes. “I’ve got to go, but since we’ll be in the same building, I’ll see you guys around later.” You told them before rushing to catch up with your dad.

Both Wooyoung and San then looked at each other, Wooyoung had a large smile as he bounced onto the elevator that you and your dad had previously occupied, with San following suit. But San was more so worried about what your dad had implied, where would you need to be going that had visitation hours?

Once he and Wooyoung were back in their shared apartment, he pulled out his phone and messaged the groupchat.
