I'm rewatching Supernatural for the thousandth time, and I noticed that (at least up until season 7, where I am now) Dean often 'excused' Castiel's behavior by calling him a child. Obviously, he didn't mean it literally, but rather in the sense that Cas didn't know any better. Throughout the Godstiel arc, Dean called Cas a 'god damn child' and a 'freaking child' when referring to Cas taking extremely questionable actions. When Castiel tells Sam that he spent a year without a soul, Dean doesn’t even get mad; he just calls him a child.

This perspective has definitely added another layer to my view of Destiel. Dean saw Castiel as a powerful warrior of God, but also as something innocent, someone who wouldn’t intentionally do harm. As I continue rewatching, I'm curious to know when exactly Castiel transitioned from being seen as this good and innocent being in Dean’s eyes to someone who could fail and make mistakes on his own, rather than just by making a benevolent error. I'm also interested in when the later seasons shifted to portray Castiel as at fault in Dean's eyes, even in situations where he didn’t deserve it.

olympics coming up…… athlete aus on the mind….. satoru as a swimmer….. unreasonably large wingspan…. huge hands..... thinks “official” competitions and tournaments are boring because he can’t use the goofy purple googly eyes goggles he likes to practice in…… practices at ungodly hours solely because he likes when the pool is empty because that means you’ll dip your feet in at the edge and be there to greet him with a kiss when he’s finished his laps….. they bring up the stats board and it’s just his name ten times before the next fastest person and he could still lap them, and even tho he’ll always put so much pressure on himself to be the best, it’s worth it to have you hold his face and tell him you’re proud of him... he’s gotten so much merch from events and sponsorships and he used to think they just created clutter but that all changes when you start to wear his clothes (esp the ones with his name on it… he’s not proud to admit that does Something to him)…. always looks up to the stands when he finishes a race and if he knows you’re not there, he looks right at the camera, draws an infinity sign with his fingers, and blows a kiss (which, some commentators routinely call “unsportsmanlike conduct” but he doesn’t care, and always, publicly says he’ll pay the fees if it means blowing a kiss to his girl at home)

Was tagged by @starfoozle to share some of the books on my to-read list for 2025 (thank you, friend, this is a fun one!)

First on my list of reading goals is actually to try to finish at least a couple of the in-progress books I carried with me into the new year, but for this challenge I picked ones I haven't actually started yet -- with the exception of Wonder and the Order of Nature, which I read a chapter of for a class years ago and loved (and which may or may not end up being the beginning of PhD dissertation reading in 2025).

This list is mostly non-fiction, as is my wont, though there are a couple fiction books in here for once -- both recommended by friends, so I'm slightly more optimistic I'll actually read and enjoy them. I hear tell the Rivers of London series even has a canon aromantic character, and that Mongrels is actually good werewolf fiction, so I may scratch a couple itches with my reading this year.

Karmaland V was the server Quackity was part of before he started QSMP, and Titi, the little alien tree creature Rubius and Foolish have this discussion about, is believed to be the inspiration behind QSMP's Eggs.
