everyone shush im thinking. what if a life series au where dogwarts and martren happened in the same place. the king who wont let go of his loyal hand even after death so he fuses himself with the corpse on the black altar. dog and master, king and soldier, two friends bound together by a red thread of fate so strong it can sew their bloodied bodies together. people love to frame the beheading as a wedding but what could be more like a marriage than the merging of two souls into one unholy monster driven equally by love and fury. in some fairytales the kiss of true love brings the princess back from a curse, but this isn't that sort of story. ren had to get his hands bloody to bring his true love back.

I need to talk about Julian's whole thing with Sloan in Extreme Measures cause it does actually make me feel a certain kind of rabid

Extreme Measures is a great episode for the Julian/Miles dynamic and has a lot of great moments with them but I think an underrated element of the episode is how it very plainly shows just how much the Dominion War has changed Julian, and how his morals have shifted into a much greyer area

Julian in this episode is very callous towards Sloan even as he's literally dying. he has no issues violating Sloan's mind, and when Sloan dies, the only reason he actually cares is because the answers and secrets Sloan has will die with him. truly cannot emphasize enough just how deeply Julian fucking hates Sloan, and sheer hatred isnt something we really see all that much from Julian, especially not to the degree he was with Sloan

even with that, though, Julian has never been like that with another patient. Julian doesnt let his personal feelings get in the way of being a doctor, and always treats his patients with the utmost care and his best work. Julian was willing to find a cure for the Jem'Hadar's addiction, simply because they asked for help, even if it meant potentially making them into a much bigger threat than they already were. Julian treated Tain in Camp 371. and, sure, Julian does treat Sloan, but he does so explicitly because Sloan has information they need, not because he has any care for Sloan's life

and I think that- his willingness to violate Sloan's mind to get what they need, and how he didn't particularly care that Sloan died- is a really bleak look at just how much the war has changed Julian and how much it's shifted his moral compass. throughout the war, Julian has been ordered time and time again to compromise his morals. add to that several traumatic events- multiple of which are orchestrated by Sloan- and a slide into deep depression, and it's no wonder he gets to a point where he can do the things he does in this episode

and I dont think it hits him until much later. I think one day, long after the war has ended and theyre still rebuilding everything that was broken, Julian lays awake at night and remembers how bad it got and what he became willing to do, and it makes him sick to his stomach

Not to get too deep into Thoughts™️ on main but just thinking about how T*bbo, supposedly, mainly hates Dream because T*mmy hates him.

And like. I get being a ride or die friend and supporting your friend through everything, and maybe I’m old fashioned for this, but I believe a pinnacle of being a good friend is looking out for your friend’s best interest.

That doesn’t mean always blindly agreeing and going along with what they think or want. Just ask Neuro, there’s plenty of times she’s been struggling or going through things and wanting to make decisions that I can see, from my outside lens, will hurt her in the long run. So I tell her that and tell her I don’t agree that it’s a good idea. That doesn’t mean I’m not a ride or die for her, or that we aren’t really close friends, just that sometimes people need help calibrating or seeing things through whatever emotional fog they have going on. It’s a normal, healthy part of friendship. She’s done the same for me too, and it happens within my other friendships as well.

I think we can all agree that T*mmy (among others in that group) have gotten a little into the territory of obsessive hate and probably can’t even recognize it on their own. I really wish that someone like T*bbo, who seems to be less obsessive about it and more open to reason, would step up and actually challenge the thoughts a bit. Or at the very least, float the suggestion of just… dropping it. Of never talking about Dream again and just focusing on his own content and own life, because clearly Dream brings up a lot of big feelings for T*mmy and he’s not dealing with them in a healthy or reasonable way.

as you may know, Elon is making yet another fuck-stupid decision: to alter Twitter's block feature, allowing people you've blocked to still not be able to reply to/interact with your posts, but they can see what you've posted. obviously this is a horrible, terrifying idea, and possibly the nail in the coffin for a lot of people who've been growing increasingly frustrated, angered and upset with the way Twitter is as a social media. Bluesky is an open-network Twitter alternative which is very similar to Twitter, but without an engagement-based algorithm: the only algorithms at play are ones you have control over, by voting to see more or less of posts. it has a Tumblr-like tagging system and doesn't shove unrelated, rage-baiting content into your face: you can actually search the tags properly, including what people have tagged on their own account.

i'm one of those people who has been vocal about how bad Twitter has been for my mental health. every day, despite my efforts to make it a lovely, fun place to be, i'd still get posts talking about horrible, untagged, triggering topics, whether that be accusations of abuse or photographs of individuals who've been severely harmed or killed. it was pushing me towards a breakdown. i conducted an experiment to see how long it took scrolling down my Twitter feed to see something that made me angry, upset, or anxious, and every time, it was within ten minutes. i've been wanting to leave Twitter for so long, but didn't feel there was another option besides here. now, there is. Bluesky has gained half a million people in the last day, and that number keeps going up. people are realising what an absolute fucking hellscape Twitter has become, and how sick it's been making everyone. on Twitter, nothing is private, or sacred: everyone is furious and upset and paranoid all of the time, and you aren't allowed to escape it. you physically can't. and that is not healthy or normal. i have not heard a single favourable thing about Twitter in two years. every conversation i have with someone about it, is always, 'i wish i could quit Twitter because it's making me sick, but it's really hard.'

so far, Bluesky has been like a breath of fresh air. it feels so...unburdened. the utter lack of charged, political, aggressive tweets has me feeling off-balance. all i'm seeing is lovely art from friends, and silly posts about how much nicer it is there!! yes, Bluesky is early days and it doesn't have as many bells and whistles as Twitter, but my God the people behind it are listening to its userbase. it is a functional, clean, relaxed type of social media that i think so, so many of you would benefit from joining. so please...if you've been feeling exhausted and infuriated by the standard Musk-era Twitter has set for social media, give Bluesky a shot. you can use the Sky Follower Bridge extension to find all your pals from Twitter who are already on Bluesky! and if you want to give me a follow, i'm @starleska.bsky.social - i'd love to see you there 🥰

So I mentioned that my iteration of Hole Punch wasn't exactly bad from the start. He wasn't at all out to do something as drastic as stealing the sun from the sky, that thought would have never even crossed his mind -

..... Until this happened, that is.
