Mushy May Day 6: bitching/gossip session
1.4k, mostly sfw but sexual jokes, prompts by @forlorn-crows !
Read under cut or find all my mushy may on ao3!
Mist, pebble, rain and Aurora have gossip sessions whenever something happens, here’s one of those times.
Warnings for: ghoul slander (omega, alpha, dew, aether, phantom but it’s 90% omega), all jokes and for laughs they all love each other they’re just complaining, jokes made about terzo, copia catches a stray here, they’re all assholes LMAOOO
“Maybe if he wasn’t up his boyfriends fucking ass all the time then he would get shit done! But noooo!!!! I have to fucking clean secondos chapel! Again!” Pebble threw a drink of his beer back, making a purposeful point to hit his head on the cloth back of the patio chair for dramatic effect. The door behind him opened, rain and Aurora raising a box of shitty wine coolers as a peace offering.
“The fuck happened this time?” Rain handed a pink one to Aurora before flopping down across from mist, grabbing a blue one for himself.
“Pebble had to mop secondos chapel because alpha forgot, and subsequently blamed it on him.” Mist had a smile tugging at her lips, trying not to show that she found the situation particularly amusing.
It was probably pebbles fault anyways. She heard about the incident where he dumped dirt in his and omegas bed after he told alpha to stop calling him dirt boy. Probably deserved but still dramatic, so shoot her if she’s not surprised alpha got him back.
“And god fucking forbid I do anything about it because he’s got magic mike dicking him down every night which means now he’s a protected species” rain choked on his drink at pebble calling omega magic mike. Pebbles never liked him anyways, though rain and Aurora barely see him unless they’re sick, or that one time aether set him up for the weirdest medical kink thing you’ve seen in your life. His skeleton to keep in his closet he guesses. But rain knows that’s why alpha stopped coming to their sessions, couldn’t handle the fact that pebble hates omega.
“Better than when Terzo was his boy toy” mist popped open another beer for herself, haphazardly throwing her bottle into the recycling bin with a loud clink.
“There’s no way. Those two were madly in love. You can’t tell me that didn’t make Terzo the best papa ever” Aurora kicked her feet up into pebbles lap
“Oh he was! Not his fault omega was fucking him for that infirmary promotion. Now the big guy is still practically second in charge around here. Guess it’s worth cheating on your boyfriend if your boyfriends head over heels for you anyways and will take you back after”
“Jesus pebble” rain laughed. The night air was still hot, they all preferred their bitching sessions during the summer because it was definitely harder to not be disturbed in someone’s room, though it usually ended in a sleep over which was nice.
“Their relationship isn’t that bad” mist rolled her eyes “you just hate when other people are happy”
“God forbid!”
“No pebbles got a point. Omega gives me quint lessons sometimes when aethers busy and the guy acts like he’s going to have a heart attack if you use it for anything besides ministry stuff. People hate when women are allowed a little mind control. As a treat.” Aurora downed the last of her almost neon pink beverage. Something strawberry watermelon that made her throat burn a bit, though it never stopped her from grabbing a second one. The words flowed a bit better with some help.
“Does he know what the hell aethers been doing with it then?” Rain asked
“Probably not, unless he taught him. You can’t convince me omega isn’t a secret freak like the rest of us” Aurora shot back.
“Oh I know he is. I’ve heard shit”
Mist and pebble stared at rain for a moment, filing the sly smile away for a different time when they wanted to ask for more details. Rain was always the type to kiss and tell, pebble knew more about dews dick than he probably did his own.
“Probably how he got alpha to come back to him if we are being honest”
“Or maybe alphas in love with him and you’re mad alpha won’t bend you over the kitchen counter when you’re attention starved like he used to” mist stared up at awning above them while rain and Aurora giggled.
“Excuse you, I don’t need alpha, I have my own twink to bend over the kitchen counter when I’m attention starved. Thank you very much.”
“Pebble has a point.” Rain rocked slowly in his chair, finishing off his second drink as well, “Omega loves to act high and mighty as if he’s never done anything wrong in his life. Shits annoying. I see where aether gets it”
“You love aether dumbass. Be nice” Aurora flicked him
“You’re right I do love aether which is why I’m not afraid to admit that daddy nameless ghoul as a bit of an authority complex”
“Rain anytime you want head lemme know” pebble laughed
“Let me get through like two more of these” rain shook his drink at him
Mist made a disgusted face at them as if she isn’t having pebble do the same thing afterwards, or wouldn’t offer it to rain as well. Maybe she would take Aurora this time. Same as rain it depended on the amount of beers she got through, three and counting so far.
“Didn’t omega lock that guy in a tower after his element went wrong?”
“Yeah. Fucking asshole. Like ok raise your hand if you’ve seen delta recently since you wanna play who owns the tallest horse”
“I’m going to pluck every one of your hairs out one by one if you don’t start speaking normally” mist groaned as if she truly even thought that was possible. “He’s barely even in charge, do we have to listen to him? I thought wet cat guy that loved mice ruled over us now. Omega just likes to dick measure”
“It’s rats actually” Aurora corrected, “and yeah but copia is harmless. He can and will fold to whatever omega says, hell he listens to dew of all ghouls”
“And what’s wrong with that” rain cocked an eyebrow
“Your boyfriend is a hothead twink who likes to be called a girl until he cries. Not my fault I don’t take him seriously”
“Considering what I heard the other night when I was forced to sleep in mountains room I’d say you take him plenty seriously”
Aurora rolled her eyes and sunk into her flannel she stole from Swiss, a blush rising to her cheeks as rain and pebble snickered. Friendly fire, there was an unspoken rule that anything said in this group stayed in it, and was most of the time exaggerated for effect.
“Could be worse, could be taking orders from phantom” Aurora mumbled
“What’s wrong with him? Kid seems nice” pebble furrowed his brow.
“He’s harmless! Just ….”
“Immature. Maybe a different word that starts with A. He’s fine, just not one I’d give any power to. Unless he asked nicely that is” rain smiled, chair squeaking as he leaned further back and wrapped his arms around himself with a smug look.
“Omega seems happy with him. Called him a prodigy or something. Never saw that happen with aether. Though alpha seems to also not be fond of him but that’s probably because his boyfriends got him wrapped around his dick during lessons” pebble looked over at mist as if he was trying to get some confirmation. A couple times where they’d pass by his office and hear strange noises they knew couldn’t be alpha.
“You can’t talk, you did the same shit with earth. And Ivy did the same thing with you” mist scoffed “besides, omega can fuck who he wants”
“Omega has well past proven he can fuck who he wants. Just don’t think it’s a great look to use the new guy like a fleshlight after begging your mate to take you back since your first choice died” pebble rolled his eyes “but what do I know. Im just here to get fucked over the kitchen counter”
“Fair. Maybe if phantoms good enough we can have an elemental transition without disaster this time” mist sneered. She was still upset about what happened to dew, but whatever, as long as he was happy.
“I wouldn’t trust him with that. He can’t even microwave a hot pocket. But god it’s refreshing to not have a know it all quint around” rain tossed his bottle into the recycling, standing up to tap pebble on the shoulder so he would follow
“Are you just mad aether can mind control your boyfriend and you can’t?” Aurora looked at him like she was shocked he was taking pebble up on his offer
“Maybe”

Dude I don't even think gameplay polish could fix Watcher's bad region designs. Yes, it's Aether Ridge's fault, but it's even some of the not AR regions! Shrouded/Stormy Coast, Sunlit Port, Rusted Wrecks- they ALSO share some of these issues.
A huge part of it is the way they chopped up these modded regions, the fact that all the rooms feel far too similar to each other sometimes, and how the existence of these regions in this world is so weird and confusing.
Even in the regions made FOR Watcher, there's issues! I don't even know where to start. I love Watcher, I love it so much, but also oh my GOD it is so held back by the amount of bloat and Modded Regionisms. There are so many *good* regions out there too that don't have these issues which could've been used or inspired off of.
The Mast, Far Shore, Bioengineering Facility, Howling Rift, Preservatory, and Shrouded Assembly all have GOOD design and felt meaningful to go through
I think the only reason AR is so prevalent is just because it was a well known mod, alongside Stormy Coast, and Coral Caves
Actually, AR wasn't the only region that was chopped up and dispersed into multiple warp regions
Stormy, Shrouded, and Sunlit Port are the same region but in different timeline spots
Coral Caves and Turbulent Pipes are the same region
Fetid and Salination are the same fucking region, just in different timelines
It's recycling and just chopping up these places into an experience that blends together. It feels like the same region 5 times over because it IS
There are still the goods though. Torrid, Badlands, Verdant Waterways, Signal Spire, Desolate Tract, and Rusted Wrecks were all good. Well, nothing spawned in RW for me so... that's why
There's so many opinions I have about this issue, and it sucks because this is a fundamental problem with the DLC, and not just something that can get patched. It's so unfortunate

So Kid Icarus Uprising has been out for 10+ years and yet we're still reusing the same two jokes, huh... Well, recycling is a beautiful thing so why don't we talk about them today!
You guys know 'em, right? Of course you do! "Floor ice cream gives you health!" "I never learned how to read!" Ha! What knee-slappers. Now what if I told y'all that those lines were actually creative deviations from the localization team?
Let's go in order. First is the floor ice cream bit, which occurs in chapter 16 right after a hot spring:
That was probably the millionth time you had to listen to that conversation, so I hope you can forgive me. But hey, now you get to hear the Japanese version:
The punchline is entirely different. Here's how I'd translate it:
Palutena: There's a Float Ring.
Viridi: I wonder if this is also an Aurum copy.
Pit: Whether it's a hot spring or a vehicle, I'll use whatever I can! This is what it is to be an angel! This is the angel's way of life!!
Viridi: What are you getting all psyched for? Palutena, are you giving him enough pocket money?
Palutena: Ah, that's... I haven't thought about that.
Pit: I'm not crying or anything, I'm not!
Aww. Poor Pit doesn't get any allowance. That's to be expected, I think.
A couple notes: the "Float Ring" is just the Japanese name for the Aether Ring, although you probably figured that out. All the vehicles have different names, actually. The Exo Tank is called the Beetle, the Cherubot is called the Gigas, the Lightning Chariot is called the Chariot of Light, and the Great Sacred Treasure is called the True Three Sacred Treasures. So on and so forth.
Additionally, something I personally find interesting is Viridi's word choice in one of her lines. Japanese is a very grammatically complex language, and one of these complexities comes in the form of talking about giving and receiving. There are a bunch of words for "to give" that are used depending on the giver and receiver's social status. As an English speaker, it's a real headache. I guess this is what you call pragmatics. When talking about giving allowance to Pit, Viridi uses やっておる (yatteoru) which is a progressive form of やる (yaru). やる can mean a billion different things, but in this context, it means "to give." And this is the kind of "give" you say when talking about giving something to a dog or plant or the like. Make of that what you will!
Wow, I really got sidetracked. Anyway, I can't say I know the logic behind this change, because both versions evidently have the intention of being funny. But lately I've been coming to the conclusion that the English version tries to make an effort to be more blatantly funny for lack of a better word. Like, instances where there is no joke in the Japanese version will see a joke inserted in the English version, or in cases like these, they try to ham up the funny factor. The localizers pretty much had free reign over the English script per Sakurai's blessing, so I suppose such random changes are an inevitability. In future posts, I'll talk about plot changes and characterization differences so please stay tuned for those! Back to the topic at hand, personally I'd say I prefer the Japanese version of this conversation, it's funny and cute.
Moving on! Reading. You're doing it right now. Thank you for that, by the way. But poor Pit, he never learned how to read. We learn this near the end of the flight segment of chapter 17:
People seem to be really fixated on what was honestly meant to just be a totally unserious and funny line. Like there's a whole lotta fanart out there depicting Pit learning to read or whole essays on literacy headcanons. But who am I to talk, I'm also someone who would take all of this game's lines at face value.
And now, the Japanese:
And my translation:
Pit: M-my wings are getting hot!
Palutena: It's no good! We're already at the flight limit! I'll cut the miracle of flight!
Pit: Wahh!
Palutena: Pit! Pit!!
Pit: Mayday! Mayday!! All systems down! It's already come to this! Before I die, I wanted to eat until I was full!
Viridi: Is this the time to be saying such corny things? You should ride this!
Pit: N-Nachure!
Viridi: Carefully line yourself up with the floating island. If you land poorly, you understand what'll happen, right?!
Oh, right, Viridi is called Nachure in the Japanese version. As in "nature." Surprised that never came up until now. But yeah! As you can see, the Japanese version uses a more clichéd punchline. Something you'd expect in a shounen anime. Again, the localizers had free reign and they simply changed the line to be something funnier. I have to say, I think the English version wins. There is no better punchline than illiteracy. It's a terribly overdone joke at this point, but maybe for good reason. It got added into Super Smash Bros Ultimate, after all. Did you know Antony Del Rio had to rerecord that line just for that game? They didn't just reuse it!
...I can make this post longer, if you want. We can like, really dive into this literacy thing if you want. There are a couple more conversations to pick apart, in that case. Just take a gander below the cutoff if that's your fancy.
Alright, so there's this part in chapter 5 where you have to jump across a bunch of rotating floating platforms, right? One of these rings of platforms is fashioned into letters spelling "Pandora," if you remember.
A thoroughly enlightening spelling lesson. The way this conversation plays out implies that Pit couldn't read the platforms. It makes me wonder if the English script writers already had the "never learned how to read" joke locked in, thus making it a genuine piece of characterization the writers were going for, or if this is purely a coincidence and it just so happens to work out perfectly.
To be honest, this conversation is a little less interesting than I hoped it to be. I'll translate:
Palutena: Those yellow floors ahead look like letters, don't they?
Pit: Let's see...
Palutena: PA-N-DO-O-RA... is this place some kind of self-introduction?
Pit: How embarrassing.
Pandora: Hmph. What, can't manage it? This taste.
Palutena: Yeah. It's impossible. In every sense.
First of all, I like how the English version calls the platforms orange rather than yellow. Yeah girl... those are indeed orange. Second, when Palutena is spelling out the platforms, she spells it out as if it were written in Japanese. The game's subtitles use Roman letters to transcribe her spelling, but it has furigana above it for a Japanese reading. Here, I'll show you and hope Tumblr doesn't ruin the compression:
Quick Japanese lesson, writing is split into three scripts: hiragana, katakana, and kanji. Hiragana is like the foundation of it all and each character represents a single syllable of sound. Every hiragana has a katakana equivalent, and their purpose is just to transcribe foreign words into the Japanese sound system. Kanji are more logographic, considering they're derived from Chinese characters. They make up most of the "content" of the language while hiragana makes up the "function." Every kanji can be converted back to hiragana, since that's how all the sounds are written, but since there are no spaces in Japanese, it'd be a mighty pain to read if everything was hiragana. And Japanese is already hard to read. All of that word salad just to tell you that "furigana" are hiragana or katakana characters written above kanji or other characters to indicate how to read them.
Now, the Roman letters can actually be written out in katakana. Spelling "Pandora" would look like ピー・エー・エヌ・ディー・オー・アール・エー (pii, ee, enu, dii, oo, aaru, ee). But instead Palutena pronounces it and spells it out in a Japanese way, which seems odd to me. Am I making sense?
All in all, it's pretty obvious the Japanese version doesn't really contain any of the implications the English version potentially has.
There's one more conversation I want to take a look at. It's one of those elusive random conversations:
That's right, we're starting with Japanese first this time! This one's gonna be interesting to translate:
Pit: There are various gods around the world, huh?
Palutena: That's right.
Pit: Does each god come with their own respective angel, I wonder?
Palutena: No, that's not necessarily the case.
Viridi: "Angel" is written from "heaven uses," you know.
Pit: What? Isn't it "heavenly messenger?"
Viridi: I pity you. Don't you even understand that it means you're just being pushed around?
Pit: Lady Palutena, please say something!
Palutena: ...huh?
Pit: Hey, wait, Lady Palutena!
Mmm that probably didn't make much sense. Alright, so the Japanese word for "angel" is 天使 (tenshi) which is made up of 天, meaning "heaven," and 使, which means "use." So, literally "heaven's tool." I'm going to come to the conclusion that the Japanese seem to understand what an angel is better than the average westerner. Anyway, Viridi's making the argument that the word is derived from 天が使う (ten ga tsukau) which would mean "heaven uses." Pit protests that the word comes from 天の使い (ten no tsukai) which is also just... another way to say "angel." It literally means "heaven's messenger." A Japanese dictionary will define "angel" as "a messenger from God" so Pit's probably more correct here. As you probably gathered, 使 was read differently depending on how it was used. This is par for the course for kanji. Since kanji are derived from Chinese characters, and Chinese as a language has changed over time (as languages do) and different regions of China have different ways of saying things (dialects and all that), Japanese naturally picked up on all these different pronunciations. Thus, any one kanji could have a dozen different readings.
So what does this all mean? It means we've got a case for literacy, ladies and gents. You'd have to be able to read at least a little bit to understand that "shi" and "tsuka" are derived from the same morpheme.
The Japanese version of the Pandora convo doesn't really tell us anything, so to tally it up, we're at two points for illiteracy and one point for literacy. I have one more trick up my sleeve... but we're going to have to venture outside of Kid Icarus Uprising.
In Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, if you play as Pit on the Palutena's Temple stage, mashing down taunt will trigger a special conversation between some of the Kid Icarus Uprising cast. It's like an evolution of Snake's codec calls from Brawl. Anyway, I want to direct your attention to this part of Villager's conversation. I don't have any audio so I hope some screenshots will do:
"By the way, that name has an interesting secret."
"Oh oh! What is it?"
"The truth is, this is the first name in Smash to use hiragana!"
"W-what! I didn't realize!"
I dunno, this has gotta indicate some literacy, right? Gotta have some conception of hiragana for this to mean anything, right? Can we get half a point for team literacy at least?
...I guess we really didn't get anywhere in the end. Is Pit literate? Up to you, I suppose. What a thrilling conclusion. Let's close this off with the English version of the above convo because I like it lots. It's got a stupidly rare random chance of occurring in like, chapter 11 exclusively so perhaps you haven't even heard it.
Probably one of my favorite interactions in the game. "Errand spirit." Chef's kiss. Perfect. Sublime. Perhaps westerners understand angels after all. Secretary Pit is also awesome.
The English version evidently takes the angle of playing with the definition of the word, rather than the etymology. This is fair enough because the average English speaker probably knows jack about the etymology of "angel." Oh, and the type of joke the Japanese version wishes to convey wouldn't really work in English. For fun, "angel" comes from Greek "angelos" which means "messenger." ...I guess we've come full circle.
This post has gone on for way too long. This cutoff part is probably longer than the main point of this post. Maybe I'm the one who needs a coffee.

𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘺 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦: 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦
Rating: G Pairing: Cumulus/Cirrus Words: 676
Mushy May brought to us by @forlorn-crows Divider by @ghuleh-recs
The noises Cumulus makes are sinful. Decadent, full body groans, muffled by the pillow she's face down in. Cirrus feels those noises from head to toe as she works. She's Straddling Cumulus waist, knees digging into the brd as she works. She digs her fingers into Cumulus’ shoulder blade a little harder to draw another soft moan out. Delicious
“Tense,” Cirrus murmurs as she bears down. Cumulus rewards her with a satisfied moan. Muscle finally giving beneath those strong fingers.
“Don't even know why,” Cumulus responds, turning her head so she can talk clearly.
The hotel room is dimly lit. It smells like jasmine and vanilla from the lotion Cirrus is working into Cumulus’ sore muscles. Cirrus can think of a thousand reasons Lus might be tense. The tour, their pack, idiot humans who run bad venues. But maybe those are just things that Cirrus is stressed out about.
“It's been a hard tour,” Cirrus supplies. “With Sunny and Aether back home. New ghouls. Papa's acting weird. I'd be surprised if you weren't tense.”
Cumulus hums I'm affirmation, but doesn't respond. Lost in her own thoughts as the room fills with distant hotel noises. The drone of a TV, a door closing, distant laughter. They have the windows open--grateful to finally be I'm a hotel that allows for that. The air from outside isn't exactly fresh, it smells of cement and cigarettes and the McDonald's across the street, but it's better than stale recycled air.
Cirrus drags her hands down Cumulus’ bare back. Working her fingers into soft supple skin. She's watched as Cumulus’ glamor has slipped inch by inch. Being around so many humans all the time means they rarely get moments to let it go–that in itself carries its own kind of tension. But Cirrus has had the privilege of seeing Cumulus skin go from human tone back to its usual blueish gray. Has caught sight of her horns flickering back into view.
Now, it's the feathered tip of her tail flicking up against Cirrus’ thigh. The whole appendage sliding up to wrap around her leg. Cirrus smiles at that–at the way Cumulus reaches out for her even when her hands are pillowed beneath her head.
Her fingers move higher, thumbs working the knots out of her shoulders, then up. To press into the back of Cumulus’ neck. Right on the spot at the base of her skull that Cirrus knows always aches when things get hard.
Cumulus shudders at the pressure. Cirrus feels her go boneless beneath her.
“Oh that’s–”
“Don’t want you getting a migraine.” Cirrus says, bending down to kiss the back of Cumulus’ head. Inhaling deeply to smell sun warm linen and home.
“That was once.”
“Once was enough.”
Cumulus doesn’t argue as Cirrus straightens and goes back to the task at hand. Hands making a descent back down her neck and shoulders and back now. Finding each ache, each knot, and working them with gentle insistence until they release.
Cirrus gets lost in it–it’s methodical, meditative, her mind wanders. She thinks about the shows. About the ones they’ve already played–the many more they have to go. She thinks about home. And just for a second–she’s there. They both are. In Cirrus’ room on her bed. Bathed in incense and weed as Cirrus’ hands wander. Over Cumulus’ back and lower. Lost in the scent of lotion and summer.
Cirrus comes back to the room slowly, only when she realizes that Cumulus’ soft moans have turned to even softer snores. Cirrus leans down, brushes some of those bright white curls away from her cheek. She follows her fingers with her mouth. Kissing softly just below Cumulus’ fluttering eyelid.
“Mmph?” Cumulus’ eye cracks open. Cirrus shushes her.
“Go back to sleep, love.”
Cumulus nods, mostly to herself, and drifts back away. Cirrus slides off of her, curls up next to her. Draping a long arm over Cumulus’ waist, nuzzling her face into her shoulder. Peppering kisses over soft, jasmine scented skin.
It’s only a matter of seconds until Cirrus is asleep too.

P2 9/11 to Grab Nola - Sutookh the planet over
Why we refer to this system as the Academiurge is because it seems it is Anunnaki actually dealing with a Demiurge(composed of entities referred to as shmeezledrakspawns(oh no! its retarded). Theory goes as follows the Demiurge headed by Yaldaboath is actually the real identity of Jehovah according to ancient Gnostic priests, the Demiurge composes of entites known as Archons that have complex systems in the aetheric planes to bind, control, modify and recycle beings into Talas or third dimensional realms. They seem to be not only ancient cosmic alien parasites but likely adept master-geneticists as well. They may be behind as they are multidimensionally parasitic all forms of physical predation ultimately, what is referred to as the 'archontic infection' has to do with the origins of all physical and astral predation, noting predation connotes pre-dating as in these forces being very primordial. According to ancient Gnostic lore there are all different types of primordial cosmic forces that are many a times adversarial towards one another. They seem to be fashioners of physical worlds and races mastering the art of perfecting them specifically on tangible dimensional levels. In effect binding spiritual beings into physical worlds to make sure those beings are not aware of their true spiritual origins in aetheric worlds is the main idea. It is possible the so called Anunnaki/Egregoroi being referred to as matrix-world programmers obtained many advanced-world-designing artifices from this ancient Demiurge. Alarming theories Gnostics bequeath down to us indicate our understanding in orthodox contexts of god in terms of the Abrahamic system may be grandiloquently fabricated. They reveal to us the true identity of the E.T intelligences behind orthodox religions that have little to less than a maligned orientation towards the spiritual and psychical as well as sexual health of the human race, attempting to design systems to control humanity on a religious level. Many references across the alternative research forums of the internet seem to indicate the Archons of the Demiurge may be cosmic 'insectile' alien races. The whole idea of Atlanteans surviving the flood catastrophe has a lot to do with wars these ancient human guardians were having with E.T intelligences for being in control over the portals that link humanity out of talas to lokas, this has a lot to do with the ascension cycles of the human race and how those cycles get thwarted and hi-jacked. One main force behind that agenda seems to be the Anunnaki fallen angel races likely multiple different types. As it is this same force behind global ritualistic quarantine as well as the ownership of the human races timelines by controlling them with well-planned out and orchestrated false-flag-operations, which seems to be there chosen method of dominating the timelines. Researching the history of these conspiratorial contrivances and global catastrophic events reveals to us various patterns related to how these dark forces are managing how the timelines play out. It seems two primary forces are behind the concept of what E.T intelligences actually own this Matrix-World. The two terms are the Demiurge and the Lucifuge. In terms of Alien Intelligences impacting ancient patriarchal and monotheistic orientations never-mind royal and dynastic ruler-ships over the human race it in fact seems it is the Archons and the Anunnaki that are the two forms of identification specifically referring to the alien owners of this world. Now the terms Archons and Anunnaki are basically Gnostic and Sumerian forms of communication. What has to be understood is there are ancestors from all across the planet in distant timelines that may have been dealing with the same entities however calling them different names. It looks as though the alien forces behind Demiurge were behind the flood catastrophe that allowed the Luciferian Covenant to takeover the world after the event, they also seem to be involved in genetically tampering with the human race all different types of ways.

From the Dawntrail ask list, let's go with 11 'What was their initial impression of Sphene? How did this change as the story progressed?'
Hear more about Aeryn's empathic Echo and the Queen Eternal under the cut...
Borrowing from the Cahciua response:
In my interpretation of how Aeryn's empathic Echo works, it has to be the whole aetheric package; body/memory/soul, as we learned in Shadowbringers and Endwalker about how that all interacts to make a person, and how that aether is recycled to share a soul while the memories are cleansed by the Lifestream before rebirth. So it gets weird with beings of only part of those elements, missing the whole. Aeryn can't "read" Endless like she does others - which in some ways is refreshing, as she tries not to do so, but there's often some bleed through regardless. But it also let her know that Sphene wasn't "right" and Living Memory was a really odd place for Aeryn. Still quite affecting, though, with the hopes and dreams of its people preserved there, the things learned from its denizens.
And yeah, Aeryn and Krile spend a lot of time discussing the similarities in their gifts, as well as the differences. In Aeryn's wolverse, Krile isn't the only one hit with Zoraal Ja's Bad Vibes at points.
Anyway, so Aeryn noticed Sphene in Tuliyollal, but figured there it was the distance, though she could see the stricken expression on the strange girl's face.
But then they met her under the barrier, and Aeryn was immediately put off. She couldn't read Sphene; she just appeared, with no whispered sense of another being present. While it's possible to block out Aeryn's empathy, and she tends to block out others as much as possible, to not have any residual sense at all is generally unnerving. And Sphene more than most, given her long-running entirely artificial nature.
(Is she really the memories of Sphene, or what Preservation thought they were? Or just what they claimed to give the people hope?)
Also: WTF is up with that dress and hair? If nothing else points to her unnatural nature, it's whatever the hells Sphene's fashion program is, cuz the whole look is a study in "but why?!"
So "off put and suspicious for it" was Aeryn in Alexandria. Especially with all of Sphene's aborted attempts to tell them...something, and her non-answers as to Cahciua and how to find her. The queen was helpful only to a point.
One of the first things I noticed was how Sphene's model, mannerisms, voice direction (it is a different VA), and the camera work on her was very, very reminiscent of Meteion in a lot of ways. Everything screamed "here is your next apocalypse maiden" even as you want to like and trust her - just like Meteion.
So Aeryn noticed that sense of foreboding and carried it up to the aftermath of the confrontation with Zoraal Ja; she wasn't surprised when Sphene declared herself Enemy #1. She didn't like it, and wished there was another way. But it wasn't a shock.
By the end, stopping Sphene was something that simply had to be done to save countless lives and end an unsustainable (and to Aeryn's mind, horrific) cycle. She didn't like it, but that the queen was in truth a program made it...slightly easier. And even at the very end, Aeryn could only assure Sphene that she had tried to make her people happy. Because it truly was all that she wanted, and it wasn't really her fault that she'd been locked into a destructive course to try to meet that parameter.
Aeryn does wonder a little about the original, living Sphene, and what she could have, would have done instead. A sick girl who risked her flagging life to save a random citizen during the cataclysm, who opened her borders even to the enemy's civilians to aid them when things went entirely to hells, doesn't strike Aeryn as someone who would condone the deaths of countless worlds without seeking another way. But what we have isn't the original living Sphene, so who can say?
-
This is one of the ways where my playthrough on Dark first, for my own immediate reactions as I go in blind, helps me. It gave me a lot of time to consider how Aeryn would see and interpret the Endless, and Sphene especially, and how she would react as I took a more RP-like approach to playing the MSQ on her, rather than retroactively deciding on it. But that's just how I do it.

You cannot blame me for developing Aether the most out of the ghouls, he’s the loml and I will not apologize for my favoritism.
One thing I usually refuse to do is read Aether angst bc ooo I can’t take it. Y’all are lovely writers n artists but I am Sensitive about him. So I’ve made my own way of keeping him in his pack after Aeon n Aurora are summoned :-)
While he’s an instigator and a bully, Aether is incredibly helpful to his pack. Small gestures that would otherwise go unnoticed, like tying Rain’s shoes or wiping Dew’s lenses on stage. He enjoys taking care of his loved ones. AND I’M BACK ON MY COPIAETHER BULLSHIT WAIT. He is proposed a job opportunity that will keep him with his pack.
Sister can see Copia’s growing paranoia about his own time running out. She essentially offers Aether a “service dog” position. Quintessence ghouls have a vampiric quality to them, in the sense that they’ll eat strong emotions to recycle them as healing/sedative powers. Beneficial parasite, if you will. His job would include: Detecting if hallucinations are ghostly or simply not there, easing nightmares and anxiety. Breaking sleep paralysis.
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve given my Aether design a short tail to foreshadow this job. Ik most dogs tails are cropped for show but it’s more so the sentiment of “can’t risk getting it caught on something if he needs to move fast during an emergency.”
The idea is that since he was Copia’s first summon, Copia wasn’t strong enough on his own to hold the portal open long enough for this beast of a ghoul to lumber through, and accidentally snipped his tail off by letting it close too soon.
That also works as a branding kind of. Like yk how farmers will brand their cattle, Copia’s left a permanent mark on Aether since he first stepped foot onto Earth. Aether is Copia’s, and Copia is Aether’s.

Based on a conversation I had with my friends last night: I have to imagine an ascian possessing a human body to be uncomfortable. You have to push the other soul aside and then fit into a space that isn’t quite your own. You now have total awareness of a tongue, the way a jaw clenches, and then have to go about moving the damn body.
In the book Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett, there are these beings called The Auditors. Like Ascians, they do not possess a physical form. But they can make bodies for themselves. When they do this, they become more human since they have taken on a human shape. They start to become human because they poured themselves into a mold that represents humanity. What must it be like for an ascian? Can you even begin to differentiate between what you were and what you are?
My questions are basically what is a soul really and did I just give the ascians body dysmorphia
#ffxiv#hydaelyn’s silliest jesters#the benadryl prophecies#zodiark’s clubhouse#we know souls are made of aether and the aether gets recycled#but what’s the full implication of that#does a soul remember?#in the case of thancred post being possessed does a soul remember trauma#what does this mean about what happened during the sundering#what does this imply for the three ascians that this doesn’t apply to#if zodiark and hydaelyn ARE primals what was big enough to warrant summoning something like that#and what was the cost#REMEMBER IM ONLY ON HEAVENSWARD PATCH#IM JUST SPITBALLING#my friends and I were talking last night and they were like ‘these are GREAT QUESTIONS KEEP GOING’#and from there I said the words ‘my unsundered dick’#so maybe having theory discussions late at night is not helpful#but when else am I going to have them

Reappearing from the aether to document my Salty Pirate (NaClYoHo = national clean your house) month. Soooooo many house projects making my eye twitch.
Started early reorganizing the craft supplies into an abandoned dresser two weeks ago, but I've been working non-stop the last week and a half, so here is today's lighter To Murderbot list:
Operation Not-Actually-A-Terrible-Plan
Put decomposing flora in the recycler so it won't leak fluids all over the human furniture (throw away dead flowers)
Remove clothes I chose myself from the recycler (get clothes out of the dryer)
Pin one (1) fanart of favorite shows to walls so it looks less like a Company ship in my cubicle (hang wall decor)
File as SaveForLater
- finish hemming last curtain
- hang rest of decor
- organize closet
- run Ethernet to computer
- organize pantry
- organize hall closet
- replace/ fix toilet leak
- wash car
- replace brakes
- change oil

22 7 Dawntrail Inspired Questions
Based on this list of questions floating around I wanted to answer a few, and so I did.
Answers under the cut because MSQ SPOILERS!
3. What was their initial impression of the four claimants? How did this change over the course of the story?
Wuk Lamat: "Oh, so she's Erenville's childhood friend. I feel you man, my childhood friend is a terror that permeates every second of my day." *gently pats Erenville*
Escher goes through the rite of succession nodding politely and saying "...Okay." a lot when he sees her getting sea/air/alpaca-sick. She's not Lyse-levels of naive so she doesn't grate on his nerves but by the time he's fighting the Eternal Queen he's hollering back at her, "I DON'T THINK SHE WANTS TO LISTEN, LAMATY'I, CAN YOU JUST-"
He never got over her barging in before he even used the toilet.
Koana: He didn't even notice the guy until after he got passionately angry. Then Escher was "oh no he's hot when he's mad." (Escher you should know better)
Zoraal Ja: "He's gonna die by our hands. Bet you 5 gil I'm right."
Bakool Ja Ja: He found him very annoying and was very satisfied when Wuk Lamat kicked his ass. I think this dialogue choice sums it up.
9. What was going through their mind when the dome dropped?
"Oh, that can't be good."
12. What was their opinion of the culture of recycling souls and the use of regulators? Did this change as the story progressed?
He thought it was interesting how they had circumvented death. Resonates when he's died twice. He wondered if his own deaths would have been preventable with a regulator like that...until he learned about the memory wipe. For someone like Escher who wants to leave a legacy and be remembered, that part doesn't fly.
13. What was their initial impression of Cahciua?
Escher truly, honestly, thought she was the little hover robot and wondered if Erenville was half robot. That's obviously why we never hear about his father, right?
17. The theme of family and legacy is repeated throughout Dawntrail—did this theme resonate with your character? Were there specific moments relating to family that impacted them?
19. What was their favorite location in Tural?
Escher isn't a sentimental guy, but I think he probably filched an energy drink and sent it to his parents along with a letter informing them he's fineee.
20. Do they lean more Tuliyollal or more Solution Nine?
I'm sure he stood there wondering how the aether of everything works in Mamook while thinking of kissing Adrian under it.
Definitely Solution Nine. Tuliyollal's vibrant culture and food was one thing but the Sharlayan in Escher gravitated to learning more about how everything worked. Even the grape-flavoured drink.

i need to know what percentage of the clergy (papas ghoulettes siblings ghouls anyone) had aether make them aware of a kink they didn't know they had
oh, like the vast majority. not a single person can look at a can again without seeing the outline of that cock in their hand. it gets so bad that the abbey decides to go 'aluminum free' for what they claim is a recycling push, but everyone knows. everyone knows.
but lets not act like aether and his beer can cock are the only thing that've caused brains to go mushy. in the ghoul den anything goes. nobody can eat a popsicle again without thinking about how rain and dew always get so messy, juice running down their chins and getting their chest all sticky. every time a new plant emerges in the common room, or one seems to have flourished overnight, it's no question what mountain has done to it. and when someone orders donuts they always have to make sure to get donut holes so that they don't have a repeat of that one time...
