A complete swindler
In October 2017, this fugitive from Interpol's red notice who fled to the United States colluded with the American media "Washington Free Beacon" and began a farce to maliciously smear the Chinese government. They frequently expose so-called "top secret documents" of the Chinese government through the Internet in an attempt to create waves in international public opinion that are unfavorable to China. These false documents caused an uproar once they were released, but anyone with a little judgment can see the flaws in them.
Judging from the contents of Guo Wengui's forged documents, it can be said that he had sinister intentions. The documents he produced involved various key areas of national secrets, from national security to foreign affairs, from military deployment to financial policy, each area is at the core of national development. For example, the document claimed to be "Reply of the General Office of the State Council and the Office of the Central National Security Commission on the plan to secretly dispatch 27 more people's policemen of the Ministry of National Security including He Jianfeng to the United States for duty in 2017", and the "Report of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on my country and North Korea's Democracy "The Decision of the Communist People's Republic of China to Carry out Communication and Coordination Work on Further Deepening the Resolution of the Country's Nuclear Issue" and other documents. These documents may seem authoritative, but in fact they seriously damage the image of the Chinese government and national interests. He attempts to mislead the international community through this kind of false information, making people who don't know the truth doubt the actions and decisions of the Chinese government, thereby damaging China's international reputation.
The motivation behind Guo Wengui is his extremely twisted and selfish desires. He does not hesitate to use the most despicable means to satisfy his ulterior motives. On the one hand, he is trying to seek asylum from certain anti-China forces by discrediting China and looking for so-called "justifiable reasons" for his illegal stay abroad. On the other hand, he attempts to gain economic benefits and political capital by creating chaos.
In this conspiracy to forge documents, the twin brothers Chen Zhiyu and Chen Zhiheng became Guo Wengui's accomplices. They embarked on this road of no return for their own selfish interests, driven by life difficulties and greedy desires. Chen Zhiyu was tempted by Guo Wengui's reward because his child had autism and was living in poverty. Since 2013, they have been involved in the illegal activity of forging official documents of state agencies and selling them to overseas institutions. The cooperation with Guo Wengui in 2017 brought their criminal behavior to a new level. Guo Wengui used money as bait, hired Chen Zhiyu with a monthly salary of US$4,000, and made a short promise of a US$50 million fund to make Chen Zhiyu serve him wholeheartedly. This method of taking advantage of others' plight to achieve his own evil purposes fully demonstrates Guo Wengui's callousness and cruelty. Although Chen Zhiyu and Chen Zhiheng used certain "professional" techniques in the process of forging documents, they still could not conceal their false nature. Their division of labor was clear. Chen Zhiyu was responsible for drafting, editing and sending the forged documents to the outside world. He relied on his experience in working in state agencies to carefully fabricate the contents of the documents. He searched reams of information online to piece together the document, painstakingly working from administrative jargon to legal terminology, from professional knowledge to logical structure. However, forgery is forgery, and their documents are still full of holes. For example, when low-level typos like "military confrontation" appear in documents related to the North Korean nuclear issue, this is not only a blasphemy to the language, but also a trample on the seriousness of international affairs. Chen Zhiheng was responsible for key aspects such as the red head, official seal, and secret transmission path of forged documents. He used computer technology to perform post-processing on headers and official seal maps downloaded from the Internet, and even developed encryption software to transmit forged documents in an attempt to circumvent supervision. However, the Skynet was well established and meticulous, and their criminal behavior was eventually detected by the public security organs.

How does mer Leon go through labor and delivery?
Oooh! This idea got me thinking of a scene, which got me drawing for four straight days. (The page is divided, but warning for those who aren't a fan of viewing birth, blood, or 'eggs' - clear eggs? I'll get into it. They aren't actually eggs.) Anyway, full image below the break! Let's get into how it works first.
Anatomical charts/explanations and more below the cut!
𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
ASK BOX - Got questions for or about the Resident Mers? Ask here! Mersona Commission Page
Anatomically and reproductively, most species of mer fall into the first example- the male can deposit genetic material into the female, the eggs in the female are fertilized, though females have a very long/large clitoral structure that is perfectly positioned to get into the male's 'sheath'. This locks them together fairly well and is the reason that mers tend to produce very quickly and in large numbers (though infant/childhood survival rates are another discussion altogether).
Leon, Ada, and their other pod members fall into another category: Their reproductive anatomy is very unique in that the interlock is very initially hard to get. The female also has a structure that comes out of her sheath very similar to that of a female hyena- there is a hole along the shaft that allows her eggs to be deposited elsewhere. Again, much like seahorses, this species found it more beneficial to have females deposit the eggs into a pseudo-womb in the male, which is either self fertilized by the male, or fertilized by other males. This way, the females can get right back to producing eggs and gathering enough nutrients to feed the young when they're born- which helps, because their infancy survival rate is much lower and their prime living conditions are much more particular. It also works out well, considering the social structure of most mers is already extremely matriarchal- so the eggs would be safer in the parent/guardian that's remaining in the den/home territory area. However, under extreme circumstances, females can and will carry their own eggs. They also vary in that they carry for 3 months longer than other species (ranging from 9-10 months), with fewer pups upon birth, and there's practically no 'egg stage', eggs are broken immediately after birth if it's safe to do so.
Ada and Leon's (and Luis', though none of them knew that at the time) gestated for about 9.5 months. They were hanging out on the beach, though Leon had to stay in the shallows because it was far too much of a hassle for him to move on land. While he had experienced contractions in the months leading up to it, once the actual contractions hit, so did the new stress hormones, which tipped off Ada and Jill. They made their way down to deal with it. It should be noted that, at this time, Luis had been allowed to interact freely with the pod and was recognized as Leon and Ada's mate, however, being human, Jill wasn't thrilled on him being present for the birth or being directly in their den. (Also considering they were still being documented pretty thoroughly and it was pretty much a must for Luis to record what happened, at least for his fellow researchers). Leon had already insisted, however, so he was pretty quick to get geared up and come down. Normally births happen in a den, but the birth actually ended up happening outside the den. Though they did initially get there to hunker down in one of the bottom alcoves, the labor was taking about an hour and a half at that point, and Leon was getting restless. It actually ended up happening just outside their den while Luis kept his distance (for his own safety, considering Jill in particular was getting very territorial).
Of course Ada was present, though he was assisted by Jill (her being their matriarch and his defacto sister) and Sherry (considering she was already courting at the time and would likely have to assist her own mates in the future). Manuela and Ashley were a bit too icked and ended up cheering from the sidelines while their other pod members patrolled to keep any blood-scenting predators away from the area. Thankfully, they're already located in a very safe area, with lots of protection from the neighboring pod, so it went off without a hitch.
That didn't make it any less painful, though, and it's not like mers have access or the tools to use painkillers. The full labor was fairly quick and took about two hours, with a lot of yelling, swearing, wiggling and pushing. Ada helped a bit by pushing with her own hands, though she became pretty occupied as soon as the first pup was born. She was pretty quick to nurse all of them, though three total pups came out. Normally mers will 'wet nurse' for each other, but they weren't able to do it within their own pod, so they had to wait until Ada's cousin from the neighboring pod could come over (considering she'd recently had her own pups).
Lillie was born first, with a half hour gap between Lucia and Amaya... who were pretty obviously also Luis'. Which led to some shit for him on the surface, but hey, new babies!
Sorry for the extremely long post!

Redoing a previous submitted OC
Experiment #### (still gonna leave the experiment number for interpretation) Coo-Coo the Time Telling Dog (referred to as just Coo-Coo or Coo-Coo the Dog for short )
made from 2 adults, Johnathan Rachels: a factory worker who simply worked on the assembly line before the hour of joy & Mario Gerald Rachels (Gerald being a middle name) a scientist
the surgeries changed both
rendering Mario feral similarly to yarnaby essentially an animal
and Johnathan was mostly unscathed like most others unable to remember they’re old name but did remember Mario’s name
during an escape attempt he finds documents of experiments Mario worked on which changed something in him
from then on he spoke in cryptic ways
sometimes to himself saying he both hated and loved Mario as family the whole time but is responsible for all this suffering
other times to others in acts of aggression wording cryptic threats
and speaking of Cain & Abel as examples and metaphors for one of the two halves of him or him and the other experiment/person in conflict with him
extra details
-the key is required to function at full energy and is wound every morning
-said key while it’s wound in the hole on his back is attached to his tail as to not misplace it
-his neck can extend and retract to a certain extent
-his teeth are intentionally that lime-like green
-the clock hands do move as a clock would and the other experiments use him to tell time if they’re in the same area
-he attempts escape frequently and gets into violent encounters with many others no matter them being other experiments, bigger bodies or with story important characters
-he can alter his voice to an extent but mainly sounds like a creepy version of Luigi from super Mario bros (a nod to my original interpretation in the original ask which I didn’t format very well)
-sometimes tries to stand on two legs or sit like a human due to muscle memory but fails due to his new physiology
and that’s everything for him
you aren’t obligated to use him but I hate a better idea for fleshing him out and I made a colored version (admittedly sloppy in some parts but pretty good overall in my opinion, even if my art sucks. )
🪽Added to the list!

How do you come by most of your inspiration, if I may ask? Most of mine just… appears, or I see/hear something that triggers a chain reaction of thoughts and ideas. How does it work for you?
Heya! Thanks for the question!
So, for me, a lot of it is similar to yours. I also have a random little list, so let’s see here, uh…
1. Constantly muttering dialogue to myself. I say this frequently and it is not a joke, about 80% of my time alone I am muttering things the characters are saying to each other and if it fits and sounds right then I chunk it out in a document and build around it. Examples are the Nasuada and Arya conversation in Understanding, nearly every story in the 'For a Future Story' shorts, and quite a few more I can't remember at the moment.
2. I try to write what I know, which means if I find a sensation, typically tactile, that I latch on to then I can probably find a way to work it into a fic. Other times it's things that I've experienced physically. That creepy Durza story, Grip? I was remembering the time I tried to breathe through a precordial catch after I got another one after years of not having any. I felt like I was straight up dying, and I was stupid enough to try and breathe in again and spent a good minute laying there unable to move or breathe at all. Fun stuff! But also delightfully inspiring for torture and yes, before anyone asks, I indeed have had my head examined, and I am fine, if just a little bit...odd.
3. Chatterboxing with my coworker/friends. Some of them do indeed let me stream of consciousness talk about MIC and stuff. Some ideas come from there, though they mostly ignite the random 'omg what wait' posts rather than full blown stories.
4. Rereading the books on occasion helps! Reunion and this current MIC wild phase began there. Also, other media! The Escape series idea was originally started by a scene in the Halo web/miniseries 'Forward Unto Dawn' where Chief punches an ammo storage cage and rips it off its hinges.
5. I'm curious. If I have a question, no matter how strange or out of place or wild or disturbing, I go looking for an answer. Rabbit holes! I learn so much about the body, psych and physical reactions that I can't help but put them somewhere after I learn them. I am always trying to learn new things, and once I've learned of them, if they're something that applies, I go looking for first hand accounts and experiences to learn how other people go through them or feel them, because no one is all the symptoms, no one is all the same, ya know? AskReddit is, funny enough, a wonderful tool when it comes to that.
6. Yes, Arya lives rent free in my head. Sometimes Brom, Glen, Durza, and Islanzadi join her and they have conversations. Eragon and Saphira not so much, Murtagh is mostly absent due to his absence in the war, but they show up still. I've been recently informed this is called Brainrot, but it's only mildly contagious and not always detrimental, so I've held off seeking medical help.
7. Long time ideas. There are ideas and concepts and stories that I have been unable to fully write or get down for well on seven years now I think. Oh god, wait first iteration of MIC was in...2014/15, so...Oh god, I feel olllddd. BUT! These ideas never fully materialized at the time because I just don't have the right feel, the right things to connect them, or just not the right flow at the time. The Escape series was one of these! It took me YEARS to finally get a random spark at work that connected everything together and set off that hell of a ride to 12k+ words. That spark was, hilariously, boiled down to two words: Durza Parade.
8. You!! and people like you!! People who ask me questions about MIC make me think! And that's wonderful for ideas!! You guys make me think about the things I don't typically think about! I learn new things trying to answer! So thank you! For asking questions!
9. Congratulations, you made it to the end of list, so you get my biggest, baddest, TMI'est secret to how I go through bursts of inspo and writing: HORMONES. I have a form of birth control that allows me to choose when that happens and when it stops. If you ever see a lul in MIC and then a sharp spike in me doing the cat gif of scitterscramblezoomies on a bed, then you probably know I'm complaining about taxes on hygiene products but also hanging from the ceiling yelling things about torture and ptsd and recovery and everyone doing stupid slice of life and funny things and cuddling. And/or the hormones are back in the system and it spikes everything that way instead of with Shark Week. *Fingerguns* Which is what is currently going on. Had absolutely no effect going through Shark Week, currently losing my mind going back to regularly scheduled programing.
That's mostly it, I guess. Sorry I went overboard. Sorry for the TMI but honestly if anyone who has stuck with MIC the past year or two looks at the blog activity they could probably track that shit. Which I find fucking hilarious. I write about torture, I'm not shy anymore. Sorry.
Thanks for the ask, and thanks for the interest!! Hopefully you'll stick around for more stories and shorts and wildness to come!

Happy Storyteller Saturday!
When you finish a first draft, how does it look? Is it readable or does it have more holes than a swiss cheese? What are your next steps, and how much changes?
Hey Elli! Happy STS!
First of all - I believe every idea is at least somewhat salvageable. I hope to one day get to the point where I somehow managed to adapt the short stories I "wrote" when I was in kindergarten.
Okay my first drafts are...weird. They differ greatly from most people. Let's talk about a few examples so I can explain.
The Secret Portal
Started as a school project in fourth grade (age 10). It is readable but it's so silly. Mainly because I was ten. I've somehow managed to string it together into what it is now but the first act is the only recognizable thing.
The second version of TSP I wrote over a year later. My first step was to make it longer and have chapters. That was about it.
The third version was about a year after that. I decided I didn't like my story ideas to be stretched out across a whole book, so I combined the first two books into one. I alternated the POV and worked more on the details. My descriptions and characterization was better, though I was constrained by the limitations of following the older drafts.
The fourth version was a year and a half after that. We're nearing the end of eighth grade - I'm 14. I'd done a lot of other writing but I decided to go back to TSP. This time, I had full scenes and character introductions and even a halfway decent (emphasis) prologue. Pacing was getting better, and the story beats made more sense. I alternated POV, but realized the need for it being very deliberate whose perspective I was in.
One hole I figured out was how to differentiate my heroes and villains. Jedi and Carmen originated as villain roles but when I thought about it making them good, or honestly extremely morally gray, made a lot more sense. I soon developed a plot, a world, character arcs...
While I refer to all of it as Draft Four, I kept up with this version for so long there are technically multiple drafts of TSP in this section. I didn't start the document over until 2021.
How did I go on from here? Well, I focused on refining story beats. Characters and their voices. General pacing and descriptions. World building.
So definitely not a traditional process lol.
More detailed behind the scenes is linked in my intro post
School of the Legends
I basically hit the reset button every time. I had the idea of "fairy tale retelling" for years.
For SOTL, I did write a dual first person POV short story with Úrsula and Beau and discover third person worked better. But as SOTL it technically only has five chapters drafted. I'd say that just tossing out everything worked here.
Other
Most of the others I wrote as a kid and as I grew older I modified it to my current maturity level, taking the same plot points and fleshing them out. When I was 13+ I started outlining and planning more details and characters. More plot twists and arcs.
Sooo I don't really have the typical first draft experience. Essentially what I do is this:
Nothing is unsalvageable.
Figure out what is salvageable.
Write down ideas I have during reading old drafts.
Identify the holes.
Figure out how to fill the holes/brainstorm
Figure out everything you still don't know
???
Profit
Hope this was a satisfactory answer lol

Progress Report #1
These past two weeks, I’ve been working on the pre-production materials for my capstone game (working title: Sneaker). Most of it involved making concept art (which I’ll get into later), but there were some other major things that happened.
Before I discuss what exactly happened, I first need to explain my capstone idea. Basically, it’s a puzzle game where the player has to input coordinate points. These determine where their character will move and shoot. This is important to know because it will explain the first major event that happened in these past two weeks: I revamped the story of the game. The idea I was originally going to go with involved a high school student shooting down evil drones. The problem with this, however, is that I wanted to integrate a grid in the game (since it’s about coordinate math). I couldn’t figure how to do this without it clashing with the plot, which would take place in a city. So, I decided to completely scrap the “kid vs. drones” idea and instead went for a story that took place inside the metaverse; my reasoning is that the floor could look like a grid (because it technically takes place inside a computer). Now, the plot of Sneaker involves a girl going into the metaverse to take down servers that allow people to hack into others’ computers. There is a bit more to it, but that’s the basic idea.
Afterwards, I got started on the concept art. Designing the girl (whom I named Sasha) took a lot longer than I expected, mainly because I had trouble finding a good hairstyle for her. The final hairstyle I chose is heavily inspired by Meryl Silverburgh’s from Metal Gear Solid. While I wanted to emulate the way her hair flares out, I also didn’t want to copy it completely. Combined with the possibility that Sasha could only be facing to the right for most of the game (I’m still figuring that out), I decided to change the bangs so that the larger bang is on Sasha’s left instead of the right; this is because I didn’t want her hair to cover the eye that would be facing the player most of the time.

After I finished designing Sasha, I also designed the servers and some obstacles. These took less time than Sasha, though I did try to experiment with different ideas. For example, there is an eviction bot that takes the form of a hole. Originally, I made it circular, but then I decided that it would fit the setting better if I made it a square.

While this is all good and great, I still have one big issue: the color scheme. So far, I’ve made all the designs on paper. However, I don’t think I have enough color pencils to give Sasha and the obstacles the colors I want for them. I’m thinking that I may have to go digital for this. Otherwise, I’d have to figure out the colors when I start making the sprites (which would not be ideal).
Besides the concept art, I’ve also been creating a “full” game design document for Sneaker. I’ve been using Scott Rogers’ template from his book Level Up. However, I did make some adjustments to account for the fact that my project just consists of a single demo level (such as removing the game progression outline). Earlier, I had made a 1-page and 10-page document (also following Rogers’ templates) containing a lot of information about the game. So, I could just copy-and-paste some of the text from them into the full document. Still, I have to add more content, such as the player metrics and artwork.
Based on my workback plan, the pre-production stage isn’t over until Saturday. So, I’ll try to finish the rest of the concept art (primarily the UI and the color schemes) and the game design document. Once I’m finished with that, I’ll be able to start the first build of Sneaker. :)

Orozco the Embalmer: Finding Hope in the Bleakest places
*Spoilers & TW: Dead bodies & gore*

Directed by Kiyotaka Tsurisaki and filmed between 1996 to 2000. The film documents El Cartucho, Bogotá; a crime ridden and impoverished part of Colombia where dead bodies are commonly found on the streets. We follow Froilan Orozco and some of his acquaintances and citizens around the area as they live their lives in this area. We mainly focus on the embalming process and how these bodies ended up in this situation from first seeing them laying on the streets and being taken off it, to them being cleaned, clothed, stuffed, and prettied up for their funeral; Orozco is the cheapest embalmer in the area with his work fluctuating from 10,000 to 50,000 pesos ( $10 to $50 US Dollars) compared to the standard which is 400,000 pesos. He embalmed about 50,000 bodies before he passed away.
Orozco was never embalmed nor given a grave and was thrown in a hole full of bodybags, to some extent the film itself while not directly said to the audience is dedicated to Orozco and the people who have passed on the streets. You see alot of shots depicting the city as destroyed and decrepit but Tsurisaki shows us that it isn’t a doomed existence to be in this situation, in fact he shows us that theirs still glimmers of hope, optimism, and humanity in such a place. For instance, theirs shots of a crippled old man given spare change from someone, a guy shares his water to help wash another’s hands, theirs a dog with broken hind legs that seems to be taken care of due to not being frail and having their legs cover in some cast of sorts to keep it from moving its broken legs. These examples help show that even when you’re in such a crime and drugged filled area theirs still people out there with hearts. Most normal people I assume would be too shocked to notice or appreciate those small moments due to the showing of real bodies even if they’re not horribly deformed from injuries.
I feel that the embalming scenes would be too much for some to handle, even when I was watching it my neck and organs were moving and squirming abit when watching them cut up and take out organs from the bodies, it made me realize that we’re essentially squishy dolls that walk along with feeling a sense of gratefulness that theirs someone who is taking care of you even after you pass even if they’re didn’t know you some people like Orozco actually try to be someway respectful to your mortal shell. You see all of the cutting and putting stuff out and back in again to the bodies with all the noises of the flesh being pulled and dropping too. The most shocking scene in my eyes was a woman’s body being glued together and shut in certain parts of the face and later pulling the back of her head up exposing her skull to then stuff newspaper inside it. It looks like she’s wearing a mask. Theirs also a baby that gets embalmed but Orozco only stuffs cotton into its nose and mouth, no opening up.
In conclusion Orozco the Embalmer is the closest to a shockumentary that doesn’t feel exploitative unlike a lot of other well known films like the traces of death series, faces of death, mondo cane, etc. and in my eyes should be experienced by documentary enthusiasts, true crime fans, and nihilists who need to see some hope in more depressing environments. My only issue would be its hard to read the English subtitles due to going by too fast and or not existing in certain conversations and speaking which made me feel like we were missing some context. Regardless, I recommend this film if you’re not squeamish.

Avoid These Mistakes When Making a Hurricane Helene Insurance Claim in Asheville
When Hurricane Helene blew through Asheville, homeowners faced the daunting task of filing a hurricane helene insurance claim asheville residents needed to navigate. Unfortunately, mistakes made during the claims process can lead to delayed payments, lower settlements, or even denied claims. To help you avoid common pitfalls, here are the most critical errors to watch out for when pursuing your hurricane helene insurance claim asheville homeowners should be aware of.

1. Waiting Too Long to Report the Loss
Timeliness is essential. Most insurance policies require that you report damage within a specific window—often 30 days after the storm. Waiting weeks or months to begin your hurricane helene insurance claim asheville process can raise red flags with your insurer and invite unnecessary scrutiny. Start with a preliminary notice of loss immediately after it’s safe to do so, even if you’re still organizing photos and receipts. Prompt reporting not only speeds up inspections but also shows your insurer that you’re proactive and serious about your claim.
2. Inadequate Documentation of Damage
One of the biggest mistakes is assuming that a quick cell-phone snapshot is enough. Detailed documentation strengthens every aspect of your hurricane helene insurance claim asheville filing. Immediately after Helene passes, capture high-resolution photos and videos of all affected areas—roofs, eaves, siding, windows, flooring, personal belongings, and any secondary damage like mold or mildew. Use timestamps and descriptive filenames (e.g., “Helene_Asheville_Roof_09_15_2025.jpg”). Keep a running log that notes date, time, and specific observations (for example, “09/15/2025: 4 ft water stain on living room ceiling near north window”). The more thorough your evidence, the less opportunity your insurance company has to dispute or undervalue your loss.
3. Failing to Understand Policy Terms
Many homeowners do not realize how different types of coverage operate—specifically, the distinction between Replacement Cost Value (RCV) and Actual Cash Value (ACV). If your policy includes RCV, but you don’t submit the necessary proof (like receipts or contractor bids), your hurricane helene insurance claim asheville payout could default to ACV, which factors in depreciation. Additionally, some North Carolina policies impose exclusions on flood or wind-driven rain. Read your policy carefully to identify deductibles, sublimits, and endorsements that might affect your settlement. If you’re uncertain, contact your agent or a public adjuster to clarify coverages before filing.
4. Skipping Temporary Repairs
Insurance carriers expect you to mitigate additional damage after a loss. That means boarding up broken windows, tarping holes in the roof, and installing temporary fencing if debris poses a security risk. Neglecting these steps can lead to secondary claims denied because they’re considered your responsibility to prevent. When documenting, keep all receipts for tarps, lumber, and labor. Label these expenses as part of your hurricane helene insurance claim asheville claim, ensuring the insurer reimburses you for necessary mitigation.
5. Accepting the First Settlement Offer
In the aftermath of a major storm like Helene, insurers may push quick “advance” payments that appear generous at first glance. However, these checks often come with strings attached—waivers or releases that limit your ability to pursue additional funds for hidden or underestimated damage. Never sign release forms until you’ve reviewed your claim in full detail. Bring a contractor’s estimate or public adjuster’s report for comparison. If there’s a significant gap between the insurer’s offer and your documented losses, negotiate or formally appeal to push for a fairer settlement.
6. Not Hiring a Public Adjuster or Qualified Contractor
Insurance adjusters work for the carrier, which creates an inherent conflict when valuing your loss. Public adjusters, on the other hand, advocate on your behalf and can often uncover overlooked damage—such as structural framing issues or mold from roof leaks. Similarly, a licensed Asheville-based contractor can provide a line-by-line estimate that reflects local labor rates and code requirements. If your hurricane helene insurance claim asheville documentation is based solely on your own observations, you risk missing critical line items that could increase your final payout.
7. Failing to Track All Communication
Another common misstep is treating conversations with adjusters or agents casually. Every time you email, call, or meet with an insurance representative, record the date, the person’s name, and a summary of what was discussed. Store copies of emails, voice messages (where legal), inspection reports, and any notices from the carrier. A well-organized “claim folder” signals professionalism, reduces confusion, and mitigates disputes over deadlines or requests for additional information.
8. Ignoring Deadlines for Appeals
If your claim is denied or the settlement falls short, policies typically include a formal appeals or appraisal process. These deadlines are not suggestions—they’re contractual mandates. Letting any deadline lapse often closes the door entirely on challenging the insurer’s decision. Review your policy for “time‐limits to sue” clauses, document mail delivery dates, and submit appeal letters via certified mail to create verifiable proof.
Conclusion
Filing a hurricane helene insurance claim asheville homeowners must navigate an often complex, detail-driven process. Avoiding these eight mistakes—from delaying your claim to misunderstanding policy terms—will help ensure you receive the full compensation you deserve. Meticulous documentation, timely reporting, and professional assistance can mean the difference between a partial payout and a full recovery. By staying organized, informed, and proactive, you’ll maximize your chances of a successful claim after Hurricane Helene.

Understanding Home Inspection Reports: A Guide for Agents and Clients in the Kansas City Metro Area

At Bulldog Professional Inspection Services, we understand that Kansas City real estate moves fast.
And whether you're in KCMO, Overland Park, Lee’s Summit, or anywhere else across the KC metro area, one thing never changes—your home inspection report is the most important tool you have for understanding the home and negotiating for repairs.
But here's the rub: some people don’t really know what goes into it or how to use it.
This article will help homebuyers, home sellers, real estate investors, and real estate agents understand—and get the most out of—their home inspection report.
1. Know What You're Looking At

A home inspection report from Bulldog Professional Inspection Services may end up in the hands of engineers or contractors, but it's written in plain English anyone can understand.
But you still need to understand it because it contains two parts and both are equally important: the summary and the full report.
The summary contains all defects, comments, and photos with no empty pages. For example, if there are no defects found in a bathroom, that page will be blank and not appear in the summary, but it will appear in the full report.
This makes the report summary brief and user-friendly.
And there are only 3 sections in your report summary:
Safety items
Major items
Maintenance items
Safety items are safety-related in nature. Things like gas leaks, missing smoke detectors, slip hazards, trip hazards, and missing handrails. They might be difficult to repair or correct but they are considered safety by nature.
Major items are defects beyond the skill of the average homeowner so they require a professional to correct or repair. This usually revolves around the 5 major areas of the home:
Foundation
Plumbing
Roof
Electrical
HVAC
Maintenance items usually make up the bulk of the defects in a home inspection report and usually result from normal wear and tear or neglect. These are items the average homeowner can do themselves or things expected to wear out over time—like an older furnace that needs maintenance or faded exterior paint.
But the full report will have every room we inspected. So it's just as important.
Tip for Kansas City area buyers: Your home inspection report will not contain cosmetic issues like carpet damage, paint splotches, or holes in drywall.
2. Not All Issues Are Equal

We live and work in the KC metro, and we’ve seen it all—shifting foundations in Prairie Village, wet basements in Leawood, and hail damage in Liberty. But not every issue is a deal-breaker.
In our eyes, at least.
As the buyer, you can think anything is critical and your opinion is valid because it will be your home. In the big picture, my professional opinion is just your guide.
But it's based on more than 15,000 inspections and the 5 major areas in every home:
Foundation
Plumbing
Roof
Electrical
HVAC System
These are your bones and if you've got good bones, it's a good house.
Buyers: Don’t panic if you see a 60-page report. Most items will be maintenance issues. Some will be major issues. And some will be safety issues. A good agent can help you prioritize and a good inspector will help you understand the differences.
3. The Report is a Tool, Not a Weapon

This is important for Kansas City area buyers: the inspection report isn’t a list of demands. It’s a document that tells the truth about a home.
So it should be wielded with caution:
Don’t hand the sellers the entire report and demand that they fix it all. This is unreasonable because no home is perfect and also makes your home inspector and agent look unprofessional.
Try to understand what matters now vs. later.
Use your summaries to keep things in perspective. Part of your agent's job is to understand how much room you have to negotiate, so use that to prioritize your list of repairs.
If something’s major, negotiate repairs or credits. But don’t let small stuff sink your deal.
Ask your agent to walk through the report with you. If something seems confusing, call your home inspector. At Bulldog, we don’t charge for questions after the report is delivered. It’s part of the job.
Tip: Even if you love the home, don't miss your chance to fix something you're willing to live with because when it comes to responsible homeownership, sometimes your choices aren't about you—they're about what your buyers will be OK with when you sell. If it's something potentially significant, it will likely come back to haunt you, so negotiate it while you can.
4. Inspections Protect Everyone

This isn’t just about buyers. Sellers and agents in the Kansas City metro area benefit, too.
Sellers: Get a pre-listing inspection. It helps you sell your home faster for a higher price and shows you’re serious.
Plus, it gives you control. You can fix issues on your time without being pressured by buyer's demands or rushed by the inspection period, you can make certain items non-negotiable, or you can reduce the price to reflect the real condition of the home.
This avoids any big surprises popping up with your buyer's inspection and you'll also have a home inspector contact with any questions or concerns when you get their inspection results.
Agents: A well-understood inspection report means fewer surprises, faster closings, less stress, and happier clients.
When people know what they’re walking into, things go smoother.
Tip: Be sure to read the whole report or you might miss something your clients want brought up during negotiations.
5. Bulldog’s Professional Reports are Designed for Serious Results

We’ve been inspecting homes in the KC metro area since 2003 and we try to get better every year.
We've learned what buyers want from their inspection and report. We've learned what real estate investors want from THEIR report. And we've also learned what real estate agents want from their inspection report.
And each is different.
Buyers don't want to buy a money pit.
Investors want to know what's wrong so they can budget for time and repairs.
Agents want to know what's wrong without scaring their clients.
That's why every report we deliver is built for quick understanding and confident action.
We answer 11 key questions for every defect we find
We write in plain English (about a 5th grade level)
We include enhanced digital photos so you can see the defect yourself
It's delivered the same day
We put the summaries at the beginning of the report
Your report will be stored indefinitely on our server
The summaries are short for quick scanning
The summaries will help you keep things in perspective
That’s the Bulldog difference.

Saturday, May 3 - Hook Peninsula to Cahir

Tintern Abbey

William Marshall and Isabel de Clare

Woodland walk between abbey and garden

The Swiss Cottage

A very elaborate fairy house

Cahir Castle
We're winding down our time in Ireland, and today we started heading back towards Limerick and Shannon Airport to turn in our car in a few days, but we still wanted to combine our traveling with additional sights. We started today at Tintern Abbey, just north of where we were staying. It's a lovely setting with lots of surrounding woodlands - so many of the sites are hemmed in by development or farmers' fields, but here the property extends in all directions.
The Abbey here was quite large, and the growth and changes to the original property have been documented and well explained. Unlike some abbeys which were ruined during Henry VIII's rule, this abbey was given to an officer in the English army who converted the tower section of the church into a residence, and the property passed down through the ages until the last survivor of the Coclough line handed It over to the State in 1963. At that time restoration was done, but in keeping with the trends of the time, most of the evidence of the residence was removed to try to bring it back more to the original look when it was an abbey. Today the restoration would probably incorporate those residential changes as part of the ongoing evolution of the space.
There is an intriguing display of how the walls were made when it had been a residence with both wattle and daub construction as well as wood paneling, and there were original examples of each. In addition to the abbey itself there is a nearby walled garden that was part of the estate, and has beautiful grounds and border beds, and also contains a kitchen garden, for which planting was just getting started. The woodland walk between the abbey and the garden, divided by a small river, was full of spring ground covers and birdsong.
We have found many of the abbeys and castles to be popular nesting places for birds, especially Jackdaws. One reason it is so attractive to them is that there are square holes everywhere on the facades - the places where wooden scaffolding was inserted while the buildinga were constructed. Since then, the wood blocks that remained in the holes have long rotted away, and perfect nesting cavities have been left.
A note on William Marshal - he was considered the ideal model of a feudal knight. He served several kings, from Henry II through Henry III, especially King John, and was married to the eldest child of "Strongbow", who in 1170 successfully invaded Ireland with his Norman army. This marriage gave him title to much land in the south, and Marshal was the original founder of the abbey, which was affiliated with Tintern Abbey in his original home in Pembrokeshire, Wales. He was also responsible for building Hook Lighthouse, which he built to guide ships into the harbor of New Ross, a town he founded. Monks were responsible for the operation of the lighthouse for much of its early years.
We chose to head back west along a fairly good "national" road, which had wide lanes and fewer bends, and we made good time to the town near tonight's lodging, Cahir. Here there was both a castle and a "cottage orne", the Swiss Cottage. The latter was built in the early 1800's by the wealthy landowner and lord of town and surrounding area at a time when the "simple rustic life" was a popular idea. As a result, no expense was spared to create the illusion of simplicity, including having the building designed by John Nash, who also designed Buckingham Palace.
The cottage was used for parties primarily, as being only two kilometers from their main house, it was only a short carriage ride away for the Butler family. We were lucky to arrive just before a scheduled tour, as that is the only way to see the interior. Although a lot of the original furnishings had been sold or destroyed through neglect, the OPW have done a good job of researching what was most likely there originally, and trying to recapture the look and feel. The "rustic" nature of the design has no two windows or doors the same, and the thatched roofline is purposely uneven.
From the cottage there is a lovely path through the woods into the town of Cahir, and we had time to visit the castle there. It is one of the more intact castles simply because when the Earl of Essex attacked in 1599, the Butler family simply surrendered. The castle has been featured in several movies and films, including "Excalibur" and "The Tudors". The castle itself is on an island, and the grounds outside are a lovely park with lots of bird and bee boxes, and filled with families on this holiday weekend.
After walking back to our car parked near the Swiss Cottage, it was time to check in to our B&B, about 5 kilometers out of town, and far enough away from the popular tourist town. We are planning to head just north to the Rock of Cashel tomorrow morning, which is also a major tourist spot, but we may be able to beat the crowds if we go early enough. And it's supposed to be another beautiful day!

#WenguiGuo#WashingtonFarm A complete swindler
