By making the "reward" an audiobook, I can have it alongside the next thing, rather than either delaying the reward or splitting the routine I'm trying to establish.
By making it a library audiobook, I don't have to worry about cost.
By making it an audiobook I've previously read and enjoyed, I remove (perceived) negative consequences of not "earning" it (e.g., what if it has to go back before I finish), thus reducing the temptation to "cheat".
By having other audiobooks, podcasts, music, etc. available, I further reduce the temptation to cheat, because it's not a this-or-nothing scenario.

GYM MACHINE WORKOUT ROUTINE FOR BEGINNERS
If you prefer to follow an expert-created fitness regimen, we have you covered. Suzy has offered two full-body workouts that may be alternated two to three times per week to ensure that all muscle groups are worked at least twice per week, which will aid in muscular development and strength. Choose a resistance that will make the last few reps difficult while yet allowing you to maintain proper technique.
WORKOUT 1:
Leg press – 3 x 15 reps: The leg push is a compound exercise that targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes. It's similar to the squat, but demands less core strength and stability and is easier to execute effectively.
Hamstring curl -- 2 x 15 reps: The hamstring curl is an individual exercise that targets the muscles at the back of the legs. Many people suffer from tight, weak hamstrings as a result of prolonged sitting, therefore targeting these muscles is essential for developing strong, balanced legs.
Chest press – 3 x 12 reps: The bench press is an excellent chest workout, but it is highly technical and demands a significant deal of strength, which novices may lack. The chest press machine is ideal for novices who wish to emulate this compound exercise and gain muscle in their chest, shoulders, and triceps without having to get underneath a barbell.
Lateral pull down – 3 x 12 reps: The lat pulldown machine is another compound exercise that targets the back muscles, specifically the lats, as well as the biceps and forearms.
Bicep curl – 2 x 15 reps: The bicep curl machine is an excellent tool for both beginners and expert lifters to target the biceps because it stabilizes the arm and guarantees that just the biceps are functioning.
Shoulder press – 2 x 15 reps: The shoulder press machine is excellent for strengthening the shoulders. Using free weights necessitates a high level of core stability; eliminating this requirement allows you to focus just on the delts.
WORKOUT 2:
The second session uses the same compound exercises (leg press, chest press, lat pull down, and shoulder press) as workout 1, but swaps out the isolation exercises to target different muscles. To target the quadriceps, use the leg extension machine instead of the hamstring curl. For the triceps, use the tricep extension machine instead of the bicep curl.
Leg press – 3 x 15 reps
Leg extension – 2 x 15 reps
Chest press – 3 x 12 reps
Lateral pull down – 3 x 12 reps
Tricep extension – 2 x 15 reps
Shoulder press – 2 x 15 reps

Hi! I struggle a lot with low energy days. I'll have a high energy day where doing tasks is easy (or it's easier to hyperfocus on things I need to do, even if I still ignore eating or other tasks) and then really low energy days where it's difficult to do anything besides scroll on my phone. Does that sound like an ADHD thing to you? Also, do you have any tips on how to help with those low energy days?
Hi there,
I found one article from Medical News Today about ADHD and fatigue. Here’s what it had to say:
Hyperactivity is a hallmark of ADHD. This can cause a person to constantly be moving, talking, or fidgeting. Therefore, it might seem strange that ADHD could cause fatigue. However, for some people with ADHD, fatigue and hyperactivity are two sides of the same coin.
One 2019 study looked at a number of mental health symptoms in 97 nurses and 310 non-nurses. The study found a correlation in nurses who had ADHD and who experienced exhaustion. Exhaustion also correlated with the presence of several other mental health symptoms, including anxiety and depression. A 2017 study supported these general findings.
Researchers have not conclusively shown why ADHD causes fatigue in some people, but one possible explanation is the condition’s effects on dopamine.
ADHD can affect dopamine levels, making it more difficult for the body to respond to this important neurotransmitter. Dopamine plays an important role in motivation, reward, pleasure, emotional regulation, and executive function.
Low motivation or a low sense of reward from completing tasks may cause tasks to feel more exhausting. Also, decreased executive function can make it more difficult for a person to plan and organize their life, contributing to a sense of chaos that may cause feelings of overwhelm and fatigue.
The full article will be below if you’d like to read more. .
Hopefully this helps. Thank you for the inbox. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. ❤️

how to do well at school
(work smarter not harder)
i’m trying to compile a list of what’s been working for me academically especially with all the fun side effects of being autistic in the education system (and the variable motivation/executive functioning that comes with it). queuing this forever so i remember to apply these, but if they help you feel free to let me know how it goes!!
1.) Print out notes.
To be fair, this only really works if you have access to a reliable printer, but I imagine a sizeable percentage of people do. For me it was definitely worth investing in one. This is enormously helpful for several reasons:
no need to make notes in class - it’s all there, in front of you, like subtitles to the lesson. makes it so much easier to follow the class and if you miss a day because you’re ill/not coping/have zoned out for 30 mins, you’re not missing valuable content you’re going to need to read up on later
annotating pre-printed notes with little details the teacher is saying adds valuable context and information, and allows you to write in analogies/mnemonics/key evidence/links to other parts of the course in a really different style to the main notes so it doesn’t get confusing to read (annotating hand-written notes can get messy)
having a physically printed copy makes it feel more real, and therefore less likely to disappear in your mind, than just electronic notes. handling actual paper is also less tiring than sitting with a laptop/tablet in a lesson and typing (especially for me)
having that day/week’s notes pre-printed over the weekend makes you feel much more organised and is hours less work than doing pre-learning by handwriting notes
if you type up the notes yourself into a table on word with key word/subtitle/question on one side and definition/answer/explanation on the other, you’re transforming the textbook information into new information, which is very valuable revision and will help with keeping it in your mind; it’s like flashcards, but in note form, and helps chunk content into more manageable pieces
i struggle with processing speed. listening to information *and* comprehending it *and* taking notes at the same time is too much, especially when people talk much faster than i can write. having it all pre-written means i can focus on just understanding and consolidating, and by the time we’re set homework i don’t have note-completion and content-learning to do on top of it
it helps with understanding of the course, in terms of what you need to cover in which topics and what’s coming up next
the best thing about this is it allows for a lot of flexibility in terms of how much time/effort you put into it. on days where i have the energy to sit and learn, i’ll make detailed notes on an upcoming topic with bulletpoints from the textbook and added links to our wider reading, or google context to anything i don’t get. on days where it’s not happening, i’ll copy paste from a reliable revision source/scan a page of the book and be done.
2.) Copy out answers before attempting questions yourself.
definitely one of the least motivating things when doing questions is not knowing how to start, or how to get the answer. a quick way to fix that and get more confidence is to copy out/annotate pre-written example answers or solutions from the textbook or mark scheme. this gives you a sort of blueprint to follow, and makes your time less wasteful if you’re often going straight into questions only to get half of them wrong.
youtube videos with example problems are also really great for this. pause the video before the solution starts and try to work through as far as you can, and when you get stuck unpause and finish copying out the working. doing this before starting homework gets you a higher grade on them and means you’re not wasting time getting things wrong, learning it incorrectly, and only finding out when you get it back.
for essay-based subjects, asking for exemplary answers to annotate is also very helpful. note down use of structure, sentence starts used, anything that you find is good about it and helps it meet the criteria. then, try and write a response to a different question in the same or similar style. get that marked, get feedback, try again.
3.) Practice questions are worth more than anything.
don’t waste time making hundreds of versions of your notes or exclusively rereading flashcards/the textbook. this might be helpful for content learning early on, but long-term retention and exam technique only come with practice. it’s annoying, sure, but works like a charm. so:
test yourself regularly - identify gaps in your knowledge and work to patch them, then test yourself again
get a feel for what kind of questions are usually asked in exams and write your own, then answer them - this, with time, will make exams predictable, or at the very least make you better at understanding what questions want from you
if your teacher lets you have extra practice questions marked, use them as an incredibly helpful source of feedback for improvement so there’s not such a steep learning curve with the first few assignments. if they don’t, use assignments intelligently to see what gets you marks and what doesn’t, then use the feedback on that to revise your technique and improve. if you do badly and don’t learn from it, this is a waste.
for the most part, teachers are on your side and want you to learn. if you’re stuck and don’t know how to answer questions/get correct answers, chances are there’s someone you can go to.
4.) Interesting information is your friend.
draw diagrams. make mindmaps. add pictures to your notes. colour code by topic. highlight things. annotate little fun facts. anything to prevent notes from becoming walls of off-grey text that you can’t be bothered to read. this also has the added benefit of being more interesting to do. so if you have a process to learn, make a flow chart with funky shapes. if it’s context you’re adding, make a timeline or spider diagram. type in memorable little comments or jokes that will help you understand things. copy out graphs and models and doodle important people’s faces. this sticks.
and if you’re feeling really outlandish, make some memes! even if they’re really bad. but for information you absolutely need to know and simply have to memorise, a bad rhyme or punchline will make it much easier to keep in your head, especially when it’s associated with something you enjoy and already think about a lot. finding creative ways to transform information helps the learning process tremendously, even if you just end up writing fanfiction of your favourite characters learning it too.
5.) Have a routine.
set out clear and consistent times to do work, where it’s hard to get distracted. any time spend working (if you’re working smart) stacks up, so that 20 minute train ride where you’d otherwise be scrolling? do some reading. organise your notes. do a problem or two.
consistency is key with learning. our brains aren’t made for storing irrelevant information, so keep everything relevant. to be fair, sometimes this does require an interest in learning not everyone has, but if you can engage with your subject critically and start thinking about it in your day-to-day life, getting into the habit of noticing things and going “oh, this key thinker would’ve hated this magazine” or “woah, i know the equation for the motion of this pen i just chucked” i think makes a real difference between doing well and excelling.
using spaces where you won’t be tempted to other things is also useful. if you have responsibilities when you get home, spend an hour at the library. meet your friends after 5, until then you’ve got homework. keep mealtimes, sleep and work schedules consistent and it’ll be harder for you to forget or have other things come in your way. this doesn’t need to be hours and hours, either; an hour a day that you can sit and reread your notes when you have a spare moment, bullet point an answer to an exam question to test yourself, annotate information you missed, do some wider reading, watch a youtube video on a topic you didn’t get — this all stacks up, and quickly. working smart is using the time you have as usefully as possible, and that starts with finding time you’re currently not doing much with.

Useless WoW knowledge that I still remember, in no particular order:
A WoD trinket that shot out little eye beams to damage a mob was intended to function like a laser but had not been programmed to include a Z limit on the beam, so it was actually a laser wall despite a tiny visual indicator. This means that if I equipped it while in a multilevel dungeon, it would damage and aggro every single mob between me and the target on every level above and below me, and they would pull every mob between me and that aggroed mob on its way to me. That made the trinket especially efficient for farming lower level dungeons for transmog pieces once I knew where to stand and what mob to target so that the bosses and mobs would all come to me instead of needing to run an entire dungeon solo for a few cloth drops. To my knowledge, this was never fixed, even after 3 expansions, before I quit WoW.
Shadow priests were considered the red-headed step child of the DPS specializations because priests had two healing specs and only one damage spec. Class designers were explicitly hostile to the idea of making shadow competitive in any manner for years until the “bring the player not the class” mentality gained enough headway at Blizzard that shadow got some attention in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor. This eventually resulted in shadow being the dominant DPS spec for almost all of Legion, thanks to an absolutely insane rework. Blizzard nerfed shadow in beta, in pre-patch, at release, and in every single patch for about 2 years. Other DPS classes didn’t catch up until the final Legion raid was released.
Until that time, priests were notoriously difficult to level because—despite that shadow was considered the questing spec—shadow did hilariously poor damage before max level gearing. It was only once LFG dungeons were introduced in Wrath of the Lich King that healers had reasonable methods of leveling, making it much easier to level a priest, resulting in a better representation of the class at max level.
I originally chose spriest because it was the only class with the ability to mind control another player character, and I frequently used it in PvP to walk people off of cliffs.
The “bring the player not the class” mentality was reversed because one of the lead designers who had always hated shadow eventually persuaded enough people back to his side that this was a terrible mistake. Shadow was heavily nerfed into the next two expansions, to the point that the Legion signature talent build (Surrender to Madness) was utterly useless in every context: raid, dungeon, PVP, and questing. The justification was that classes had lost their unique flavor, and by that we mean that this jackass couldn’t dominate as a Druid or Shaman caster dps anymore and one expansion of a shadow guildee showing him up was enough of that.
I’m not salty. >:(
The nature of shadow as a dps has always been that they do increased damage as a fight goes on. Burst DPS classes depended on timing cooldowns appropriately to average out to decent damage by the end. All DoT classes favor haste, which is a stat that reduced the timing between ticks of damage, and therefore consistently improved all DoT effects. DoT classes also needed consistent debuff and buff maintenance to remain competitive, requiring a play style of learning every fight ahead of time and planning accordingly. Every step was a moment they could not cast efficiently. In addition, shadow does more damage in execute phase, so the longer an execute phase takes, the better they are on the charts. Thus, for cutting edge raiding, when other raid members are not as adequately geared, shadow stands out even more, so for most groups, the next week’s fight will be shorter, and therefore less shadow damage. This meant shadow shined most in raids where they outgeared their raid group, leading to some chart manipulation by taking groups meant to optimize shadow dps.
In Cataclysm, an active buff was added to shadow that could stack to 5 by ticks (timed sequences) of Mind Flay, a channeled spell that acted as filler in the spriest rotation. The higher the stacks, the greater the damage output by damage over time spells on all targets, which was shadow’s bread and butter. In Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, shadow was reworked to use shadow orbs, so rather than a buff, there was a separate resource indicator (like rogue combo points) that worked on the same 5 scale, without a timer for decay. Orbs could be consumed by some spells to increase damage output. Warlords further refined it so that the orbs could be consumed to temporarily buff spells that removed dots from the target and caused all the damage to hit at once, which led to a dps rotation called shadow weaving, which went back and forth between a dot and mind flay phase to a mind spike spam and mind blast nuke phase. Shadow needed to be versatile in optimizing for either dot, mind spike, or weaving according to a particular raid boss’s fight style, which resulted in me hoarding about 40 pieces of gear to be able to adjust my stats accordingly. Half my bag space was gear to switch my talents and stats as needed for mythic raiding.
My favorite thing to do in Warlords, during the year+ long content drought, was to go into LFR as a healer with my one tank guildee, order everyone else to switch to dps, and we would solo heal/tank the entire raid to carry the newbies. Because what is the point of having all that mythic gear and mythic mount drops and awesome transmog if you don’t get to show off?
In preparation for Legion, I farmed “the Insane” title, which meant earning exalted reputation in useless, outdated, hostile factions, as well as bringing a neutral faction down to hated and then back up to honored because it made pirates like me. I got a pirate hat for it. I never mogged it because it’s not like it was visible in shadow form anyway.
During the WoD drought, I played the auction house to earn enough gold (which could be traded for $ credit) to pay for play time and the next expansion. Sometimes I even bought not-pokemon pets that otherwise cost real money, still using gold. At the start of Legion, I spent approximately 500k gold on ore and gems to control the gem market in the auction house, which meant I controlled prices for the gems needed by competitive raiders. I made my gold back and then some, peaking at approximately 9 million. I used the gold to pay for the rest of my subscription time and each future expansion. In short, I played WoW for free.
In Legion, all of the classes and specializations underwent significant reworks. The core of the expansion was that every spec needed to acquire and upgrade an artifact weapon, and as the expansion progressed, they unlocked unique abilities that continuously improved output. Shadow’s weapon design was only meant to emphasize DoTs, putting an end to shadow weaving, and introduced insanity as a resource. Casting spells generated insanity, and at 75/90, you could enter void forms, which had a damage buff and continuously increasing haste. Void form persisted as long as insanity remained above 0, but insanity degeneration increased as time went on, meaning that it was a mathematical inevitability that void form would drop. In addition, the longer the void form, the better a lingering buff that increased haste and gradually decayed, ensuring that each progressive phase to return to void form was shorter as the fight went on. However, for shadow, the weapon benefits meant that crits begat summons which begat crits which began summons which begat crits, as infinitum—if you had the haste to trigger crits on your dots quickly enough to outpace the decay of the summon. The best spriests with high stats in optimal conditions could reliably maintain a void form for approximately 60-70 seconds, maybe a little longer if they got really good timing. (Guess which scrub outed themselves as only being able to do it for about 54 seconds and reworked the optimization around that timing? Yep, that same jackass.) However, that increased haste meant faster dots meant more crits meant more summons, exponentially increasing shadow damage as long as they remained in void form. Thus, no matter how much it was nerfed, this growth on growth on growth meant that shadow would always be competitive for damage so long as the priest was attentive enough to maximize insanity generation.
During all of Legion and almost all of Battle for Azeroth, haste was so insanely valuable for shadow that it was worth it to take lower level gear with less Intelligence (main casting stat) and other secondary stats as long as it had more haste. We gemmed for haste. We enchanted for haste. We used haste potions. Other classes had a haste cap, but we did not, even after hitting the GCD cap (meaning that the game would not register commands entered more frequently than the global cool down, which was every .5 second) for spell casts. That meant every spell I cast was “instant” in that I didn’t have to wait to cast my next spell. Shadow was the new enhancement shaman. It got to the point that the limit on shadow DPS improvement was the human limit for reaction time from visual and auditory stimulus—unless the player knew ahead of time what to cast based on their familiarity with the encounter, movement speed (for stuttering shifts across the battle field), and the pace of their haste pattern for that set of gear. Longtime shadow priests were already used to that play style because of the nature of dot spellcasting, so they stood out immediately upon implementation. I began memorizing fight rotations not in sets of X number of casts, but in songs I timed for a particular boss fight so that I knew when boss mechanics would line up appropriately to my numerous cooldowns and void forms. Since my raid team slightly improved with each week, I was able to adjust my plans by noting phase shifts as they moved up in the song. It turns out that music is an excellent method of timing 10-minute fight sequences.
Newbies asking about the haste cap became such a meme in the spriest discord that they added a command !hastecap to say “the only haste cap we need” with the following image:
Tumblr media
One of the ways to extend void form was to trigger Dispersion (aka powder form, stopping all casting and reducing damage taken by X%—and also stopping insanity degeneration while it persists) at specific points in a fight to extend void form as long as possible. This was intended to be used as a defensive cool down, and every single raider instead used it as a dps cooldown, preferring the risk of death to giving up time in void form.
Surrender to Madness refers to a max level talent option in Legion and subsequent expansions. At certain levels, player characters gained access to talent options to specialize their abilities and buff certain play styles. One talent build might feature a selection to emphasize AOE damage, and a healer might choose a build that is optimized for big bursts of healing against a boss that lacks sustained damage output. For DPS specs, the max level talents are big damage boosts, and each option is suited for a particular kind of raid boss. StM was a unique talent: in exchange for being to cast while moving, there were no damage increases or stat improvements until shadow priests initiated StM, and the only difference was that it now significantly increased insanity generation and would kill the character if either (a) insanity hit 0 or (b) after 3 minutes. StM’s buff of casting while moving introduced a dramatic increase in shadow dps because it removed the discord between survival (being in the right spot at the right time) and doing damage. Further, the insanity generation offset the insanity degeneration of void form, with the intention that after triggering StM, the spriest triggers one final void form, does absurd levels of damage, then dies. The talent also imposed a debuff that prevented resurrection for 10 minutes or until a raid boss dies/is reset, eliminating any chance of a battle Rez. A skilled spriest with StM in optimal conditions would be able to extend their void form to just over 2 minutes. By the last 20 seconds, the insanity degeneration rate had grown to the point that the room for error between the time of casting and death was shorter than the GCD, meaning that every subsequent cast needed to be queued before the GCD without error to survive to that 2 minute mark.
The effect of StM was that shadow dominated the damage charts for first 4 raids of the expansion on almost every boss. It meant that for almost all bosses, the top 10 dps in the world for every boss kill was almost always all shadow priests. The spriests would do piddling damage for the first 6-9 minutes of a boss fight, barely above the healers, then trigger StM during the execute phase (when spriests do increased % damage thanks to another talent option), the raid would pop hero/lust (group haste buff) and they would rapidly top the dps charts within 30 seconds. Let me be clear: they made up the difference from the lowest to highest dps, which was millions of damage, in a fraction of the fight time, and they kept climbing until they died. An optimal spriest would trigger StM 2 minutes before the planned kill time, hoping to kill the boss immediately before/after the spriest dies to maximize damage output, with the knowledge that any Kill Time mods would actually report a longer time because they didn’t calculate StM reliably. Shadow theorycrafters spent an incredible amount of effort designing mods just to track insanity generation, secondary stats, and simulated damage for the purpose of figuring out the right timing to trigger StM and the final void form given the rest of the raid’s composition and throughput.
Blizzard couldn’t figure out how to fix this. They made spriests into raid bosses. Blizzard devs nerfed every stat, every ability, every buff, every talent, and shadow continued to dominate because the high end players sorted out how to maximize insanity generation for each raid boss for their raid group because there were only so many ways to design a fight to be challenging without crippling all dps specs. Too many classes now relied on longer damage phases to make any of them shorter than the minute used per void form. Too many dps used DoTs to introduce constant or recurring mechanics to remove debuffs. Too many casters couldn’t move while casting to introduce bosses where constant movement was required. Every challenge that could have been lobbed at shadow to trip them up would fuck up all of the other casters too.
Blizzard finally broke StM by reducing the insanity generation bonus to almost nothing, with no added gain or damage output. Then everyone switched to the void bolt build and nuked the shit out of people in pvp because oomkins weren’t all that hot and shamans were trash for pretty much all of Legion.
I’m not salty. >:(
Anyway, I leveled in Battle for Azeroth as disc in war (PvP) mode and got to murder the shit out of rogues attempting to gank me for being in healer spec, and it was satisfying enough to smite them to death, which is probably the least efficient and most hilariously inept method of murder ever other than stabbing them with my knife. Almost as fun as mind controlling players off of cliffs.
At my peak raiding schedule, I raided 4 hours a night for 4 nights a week. I spent a significant amount of time outside that farming gear and consumables, as well as doing PVP. We typically did 10pm to 2am because of work schedules.
Every shadow raider I grouped with quit the spec within 2 months and did something else. (Was there something to it that they were all guys and they couldn’t out-dps me? Probably.)
Also during legion, shadow’s artifact weapon was an eldritch being with a lovely voice stuck in a knife, and there were opportunities for her to trick you into getting insta-killed by gods for pissing them off. Doing each of these events earned you a hidden achievement (a feat of strength) until both the feat and the options were removed. Either someone thought “hmmm, maybe we should back off of repeatedly telling this specific set of players to kill themselves” or they thought “stop having fun you aren’t supposed to like it >:(“ and neither would surprise me. Let my knife wife indirectly murder me, I deserve it for listening to her.
Xal’atath’s VO did an incredible job to the point that this character had basically no lore and everyone in the spriest community still unanimously agreed she was Knaifu and could do all the wrong she wanted, as long as she kept talking while she did it. Of course we regularly committed suicide, that mean little laugh was worth it. And the DPS. Warlocks wish they had such an unhealthy relationship to power.
Knaifu is now a Big Bad in the most recent WoW expansion because of course we enabled her rise to power in her own right, how could we not? (I will not look up the new lore because I’m sure WoW writers did something incredibly dumb with it, and everything is better with rose void colored glasses.)
God, I miss Cascade. It is now removed, but it was a priest spell that healed in heal specs and did damage in shadow. I could reliably go into an Arathi Basin to hold the lumber mill, and when the last opponent realized it was time to flee, they’d use a goblin glider to go to blacksmith. Range limits on cascade only applied at casting, so if I threw a cascade at a fleeing target, it followed them until, it landed, and the range limit reapplied at the point of landing. Thus, I could cascade the flying enemy and it would follow them to blacksmith where it nuked the shit out of their team trying to hold the center of the map without me needing to leave my position at lumber mill, where I could call out enemy movements from the high ground. Also, I could mind control players off of the cliff.
They also broke goblin gliders in battlegrounds because guess which game designer didn’t like that other people were smart about using engineering items in PVP?
I might be a little salty. >:(
That said, removing the gliders provided fewer options for players to save themselves when I mind controlled them to walk off of cliffs.
Anyway, I rate WoW about 5/10, do not recommend.

✒ Planning...for the Neurodivergent!
I think that for most people the term "planning" conjures pictures of perfectly executed layouts and neat, tidy handwriting. While these things are certainly impressive, sometimes it feels like it prioritizes style over function. Journaling, and by extension, planning, does NOT have to be expensive, time consuming, or perfect.
When I first started dipping my toes into the community a few years ago, I got probably two weeks into a proper “bullet journal” before I gave up. My ink smudged, my stickers peeled, and I found that spending hours making the perfect layout was sucking away my limited time.
As a newly diagnosed and treated ADHD-er, I have found some success in a printed planner. All the months, weeks, and days are already laid out for me, and I have the time at work to fill out everything I need.
But what about someone who doesn’t have the luxury of down time at work? What about someone who gets overwhelmed just THINKING about all of the long-term projects and obligations they have on a day-to-day basis? A chronic procrastinator? Someone whose phone’s to-do list is just BURSTING with tasks, but there’s no prioritization?
Introducing…the pocket notebook!
The main objective of this is to find a pocket notebook that is portable, slim, and enjoyable to write on. Field Notes are quite popular among the stationery crowd, but they’re also on the pricey side for only 48 pages. If you have the money and you enjoy them, go for it! But there could very well be something just as perfect for you waiting at the dollar store.
Tumblr media
Yeah, it’s small, and therefore may not be the most comfortable thing to write in. However, it’s not truly meant to be a full-blown journal. No– instead of shoving it into an endless to-do list or note on your phone…you are making your idea tangible.
Your phone, and by extension all of its notifications and applications and features, is designed to distract you. By removing all of that and placing a simple, analog tool in front of you…it is, in theory, easier to focus on what matters.
Think of a cool story idea at work? Jot it down. Remember something you need to do on the way home? Birthdays? Events? Goals? Jot it down. There are no rules. If it's important to you, keep it.
The pocket notebook isn’t really intended to be a super-organized or coherent space for your thoughts. It’s a catch-all for things that might slip your mind later. Then, when you get a chance to rest at the end of your day, you can look back and transfer that idea to something a little more organized. This can be a more structured planner, a journal, a story document, a discord chat, etc.
But hey…maybe that’s still not your cup of tea. You don’t have the time to sit down and reflect on your day. You don’t want to have to organize everything into neat little boxes. It’s just a concept at this point, but…I might have something for you.
✒ MY PSEUDO-PLANNER METHOD
This is in part adapted from other methods I’ve seen people use, but specifically made with my partner’s struggles in mind. He has been using his phone’s default to-do list to write down tasks, but by doing so other things get pushed to the bottom. There’s no real way to “prioritize” them, and after years of using this system there were simply so many that he didn’t know where to start.
So, after a little bit of nudging, I had my partner write down every single thing in his phone’s notes and to-do list in the front of his pocket notebook. Since he struggles with prioritization, I went ahead and did the following steps for him. (If you struggle with this and have a friend, partner, or family member willing to do the same thing, definitely use them as a resource!)
Tumblr media
✒ STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS
I chose three things my partner NEEDED to get done before a certain deadline (In this case, seeing his parents for Thanksgiving).
I transferred them to a clean page and wrote the due date at the top.
I crossed those tasks off of the task masterlist.
I “sealed” his task masterlist with a piece of washi tape (masking/painters tape also works great!)
I left space at the bottom of the page for additional notes he may think of throughout the week.
For many neurodivergent people, seeing a HUGE LIST OF THINGS YOU NEED TO DO is the single most discouraging thing ever. By removing the list of things from normal view, I’m relying on the theory of “out of sight, out of mind”. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t still get those things done! It’s more about tricking your brain into only thinking about the most important things you have to do in that time period. And then...getting the satisfaction of crossing them out once they're complete.
I have actually been using a method quite similar to this for my full planner. I tape folded half-pages full of long term goals, purchases, and other lists to my monthly page so that I can go back and reference them when I feel up for a new task. By keeping them hidden from my regular view it helps me feel less anxious about ALL THE THINGS I WANT TO ACHIEVE and I can instead focus on the short-term necessities.
Tumblr media
(Please excuse my mess...I'm moving into a Hobonichi Cousin for 2024, and figuring out my process in this cheap planner in the meantime!)
✒ OTHER TIPS
Pick a notebook you like! Paper smoothness, paper thickness, size, lined, dotted, gridded, etc.
Use a writing utensil you enjoy! Rollerball, fountain pen, sharpies, pencil, whatever!
Think of it as a sensory experience when it comes to the above. If you enjoy the act of it, you’re more likely to do it!
If you are able to carry around two differently-colored pens, use one to underline/add contrast for readability.
Use a paperclip to keep your place.
If you have it available, use sticky notes for tentative plans that aren’t set in stone yet.
You ARE allowed to tear pages out, cut them, modify the cover, etc. NO RULES! It's your spce.
You can prevent bleedthrough to other pages by keeping a thin, paper-sized object behind your page. (Like shitajiki/pencil boards)
✒ CONCLUSION
The main point behind EVERYTHING I’ve written here is that digital tools aren’t for everyone. Notion, Obsidian, Trello, etc. are great resources, and there are many people who have great success when using them. However, I am sure there are many other people like my partner and I who have developed a kind of “clutter blindness” to things that aren’t immediately in front of them.
You aren’t stupid for needing things broken down into exact, detailed steps. You aren’t inherently irresponsible because you miss deadlines or misplace important information. You need accessibility. The world may not be built for people like us, but there are so many ways you can learn to help yourself achieve your goals
(Please feel free to add your ideas and modifications to this post! I'd love to see what your methods are-- perhaps they might help me, as well!)

Online Marketing Helps to Promote Websites
For those who don't know, SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a marketing tactic aimed to rank websites higher in various Google (and other search engine) searches. As a job seeker, you have to make sure your resume is "optimized," which is to say that it has the keywords most commonly searched by users of Monster, Hotjobs, CareerBuilder, TheLadders, and other resume boards. Therefore, if you're looking to switch industries, make sure that you know about the industry you're targeting and make sure that you have the right buzzwords throughout the document. Know how people read websites and individual web pages: Job seekers often mull over whether they should have a one or two page resume. The choice is entirely up the job seeker, as each person who reads a resume has different preferences, but a mere lack of a page or addition on a resume has never hurt too many employment seekers. Auto SEO Company In India Delhi, Real Estate SEO Agency India Delhi NCR, Restaurant SEO Services and SEO Agency India
Studies have shown that when people read websites or documents on the web, any form of line on the page gives a signal to the brain that it is time to stop reading. Take a closer look at the India Times website. You don't see too many lines, do you? Moreover, it is important to mention that people rarely scroll down when reading a web page or web document. Knowing this, if you want to focus on your last job or the job before that, make the first description brief. Conversely, if you wish to hide your last job or the job before that, fatten up the content for your current (or latest) position. The more talented job seekers are able to look at an office situation from their manager or interviewer's perspective. An assistant, by definition, is one who helps, therefore making their lives easier. For their work, the executive whom he or she helps holds them in high regards and the individual is typically invited to family functions and sometimes helps mentor the individual whom they report to. Being anything but courteous to an executive assistant is the professional equivalent of telling a dinner host that their chicken is dry.
If you are rude to an assistant, that manager, if they were to now hire you, would be writing apology notes, as this is a great sign of disrespect. If an assistant is friendly and outgoing upon meeting you, stay very professional and simply listen to what the individual has to say. The worst thing to do is to get caught up in any personal talk with the person because that leaves you open to judgments. How does the following sound: Assistant: "You liked Judy. You know you're going to be working with a Falcons fan, right?" This small tidbit can immediately trigger negative responses in the manger's head. Again, when it comes to the assistant, be cordial and professional. If he or she digs for personal information, be vague and just ask the question back, sit and listen until the meeting is ready. They key is that the information on your resume is high-impact and descriptive. If it takes you more than one page to accurately (but efficiently) describe your duties and talents, so be it. Whether you go with one or two pages on your resume, know to omit lines.

Many large companies were equally interested, because for large company purposes they are, just like at schools, obviously and massively superior, but due to principal-agent problems the people making the purchasing decisions stood to lose money if they switched
So, how this works: large companies have server farms. Maybe in-house, maybe in a rented datacenter, maybe rented from Amazon or Microsoft or Google. For basically all tasks that can't already be done in a web browser you would prefer that your workers log into those servers and use a virtual machine, for several reasons.
If their personal corporate laptop/PC craps out, you can give them a new one and they can log back into the servers right away.
If the server farm craps out, there's tons of redundancy because that's much cheaper to supply in a server farm than in an office, so their work will be recoverable quickly.
It's a lot easier to standardize a virtual machine configuration and then store personal customization as code, so there's less work to set it up for new employees.
other reasons which are comparatively minor
Before Chromebooks, this was true, but you had to provide people with fully-functional laptops with which to SSH or VPN into the virtual machines. This is SOP at most large companies, and in basically all cases except very large, very techy companies, the laptops are acquired from a hardware middleman supplier on a bulk contract. This is acceptable, but causes headaches:
Employees accidentally leave important configuration on their physical devices.
Employees knowingly leave necessary configuration on their physical devices and then forget them at home.
Or lose them.
Or break them.
Hardware is much more likely to malfunction in subtle ways than virtual machines.
And it's hard to rule out the possibility of a subtle malfunction even when the real problem is from the user or the software.
Fixing a laptop when it breaks is valuable enough to be worth doing but expensive and difficult enough to be hated.
Setting up each new laptop is a pain, usually a number of steps which must be executed by someone moderately competent and therefore drawing a moderately expensive salary. (This is particularly a problem for places with legions of salespeople and managers who have never done anything more technical than send an email in their life, a category which has been enormous since at least 1990, who absolutely cannot be trusted to initialize their own laptops.)
Enter the Chromebook. It solves all these problems. It's too stupid of a device to break in most ordinary ways; even a malicious user (and remember, sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice) has trouble breaking the device unless they put it in developer mode. All the configuration lives in the corporate account they use to log in. They pretty much don't break and when they do they are cheap enough to be easily replaced with a shiny new device, the old one sent back to Google to probably be scrapped for parts.
Maintenance goes from a massive line item in the operating budget of every office to nearly nonexistent.
Trust me, switching over to Chromebooks is every office branch manager's dream. And everyone except the programmers will, after some inevitable adaptation period, also be happier, because a bunch of annoying problems went away and never came back.
So, then: why didn't they switch?
Remember this?
In basically all cases except very large, very techy companies, the laptops are acquired from a hardware middleman supplier on a bulk contract.
This kind of contract typically has three important numbers:
A price per laptop we will charge you whenever you require additional laptops
The number, per 1000 of your employees on a site using those laptops, of setup and maintenance techs we will supply to be your local IT
The amount of money we will charge you per hour of labor from those provided IT staff
Contracts, obviously, vary, but since large companies are not going to take wild risks like breaking a contract with Laptop Supplier A and demanding that the IT techs from Laptop Supplier B provide tech support for the A-laptops, they are a single unit. Normally both the sale of laptops and the provision of IT labor are both significantly profitable for the supplier. But it's fairly common for the profit margins from part 1, the laptop sales, to be sliced razor-thin, since that's the obvious up-front cost that short-sighted buyers are looking at, and the necessary profit moved into parts 2 and 3 - requiring that they hire an excessive number of IT staff, that they pay the supplier an excessive amount for their contracted labor, or both. (No, this doesn't get into the salary of the actual IT techs. Though if their wages went up, so would part 3.)
Now, consider a Large Sales-Focused Company looking to choose their next laptop contract.
Google Chromebook Sales Rep: "Our Chromebooks are dirt cheap and incredibly easy to set up and maintain! You'll need almost no IT people at all, we promise!" (This is, to be clear, absolutely true.) VP of Operations Alice Friday: "We do spend a lot of money on IT and laptops, and I like spending less money. Do you have a supply-and-maintenance contract?" GCSR: "Uh, sorta. We don't have a staff of maintenance people, but you won't need them." VP AF: "So you definitely don't have a proven track record of delivering good equipment and service I can show to the CEO, then?" GCSR: "We've done good work supplying schools?" VP AF: "That's not good enough. But I'll talk to our usual suppliers and see if we can buy some Chromebooks through them."
Supplier Sales Drone has a good thing going supplying LSFC with mediocre laptops and worse-than-mediocre IT techs; it's a consistent steady income for SupplierCorp. Obviously he has also heard of Chromebooks, and particularly has heard that you can buy them for $150/unit. He has also had his higher-quality IT people check Google's claims that they require minimal IT. It all checked out.
SSD looks at three possible contracts (all numbers illustrative rather than accurate):
Current Contract: Laptops $350/unit ($100/unit profit). 15 IT techs per 1000 employees. $110k/year charged per IT tech ($10k/year profit).
Honest Chromebook Contract: Laptops $180/unit ($40/unit profit). 2 techs per 1000 employees. $100k/year charged per IT tech ($20k/year profit; these IT techs can be paid much less because they don't have to be as good)
Trying To Compete Contract: Laptops $220/unit ($20/unit profit). $120k/year charged per IT tech ($10k/year profit, supporting cheaper hardware needs better techs)
CC makes the supplier about $100k per 1000 employees to start, $5k per 1000 per year in replacements, and $150k/year per 1000 in IT. Over four years, $720k/1000 employees; respectable profit.
TTCC makes $20k per 1000 to start, $1k per 1000 per year, and $180k/year per 1000 in IT. Over four years, it makes about as much money, $744k/1000 employees.
HCC would only make $40k/1000 upfront, $2k/1000/year in replacements, and $40k/year per 1000 in IT. Over four years this only makes $168k/1000 employees.
SSD concludes that this would be a complete disaster for his bottom line and chance of promotion. Therefore:
VP AF: "Hi, SSD. We're looking at the new potential hardware contracts. We like the look of those Chromebooks; what can you offer us that makes use of those?" SSD: "We haven't been able to work out terms with Google such that we could supply you with Chromebooks at our customary reliability. Can I interest you in this line of slightly more expensive laptops we can promise to support reliably? The TTCC contract terms are very favorable!"
Alice, not being an idiot, realizes that this is probably not entirely honest. But when she considers pitching her CEO on going without a supply contract and managing it directly through Google, they immediately agree that this is tempting but far too risky, and it's better to go with the existing contracts.
At the time I left the team, several years ago now, Google was specifically working on a line of worse Chromebooks which required more complicated setup and had software which was designed so that an external team could manage accounts, remote wiping of devices, and various other Standard IT Nonsense. Not because it improved user experience, but because it would increase the number of IT people needed from something like 2 per 1000 to something like 6 per 1000, and therefore increase the potential profit of HCC by a factor of three.
As a manager who will remain nameless said to me: "Yeah, this is giving them a worse user experience than just switching to Chromebooks. But it's still going to be way better than what they're doing now."
Chromebooks legitimately solve one of the biggest problems that running an office has (...maybe less so since the pandemic, IDK), and their adoption is, substantially, limited by being too good, such that they disrupt one of the most pointless leech-industries there is.
Unfortunately they're not great for the future of computer literacy and programming.
We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.
Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.

Understanding the Role of Utility Patent Drawings in Functional Claims
When filing a utility patent application, inventors often focus on the claims and written description. However, one of the most overlooked yet critical components of a successful patent filing is the utility patent drawing. While not always mandatory, utility patent drawings can significantly enhance your patent’s strength, clarity, and success rate.
In this article, we’ll explore the vital role utility patent drawings play in defining and supporting functional claims, and why investing in professional patent drawing services is a strategic move for any serious inventor.
What Is a Utility Patent Drawing?
A utility patent protects the functional aspects of an invention — how it works, operates, or is used. A utility patent drawing, therefore, visually supports these functional elements.
It typically includes:
Mechanical layouts
Cross-sectional views
Flow diagrams or schematics
Moving parts or mechanisms
Internal structures
These drawings help the patent examiner and legal stakeholders understand what the invention does and how it does it.
Why Utility Patent Drawings Matter
1. They Support the Written Specification
While your patent’s written description must comprehensively detail your invention, complex ideas are challenging to convey through words alone. Utility patent drawings significantly enhance understanding by:
Clearly depicting functional components,
Showing relationships between various parts,
Illustrating the sequence and operation of the invention.
This visual clarity strengthens your application, making it more robust and complete.
2. They Reinforce the Functional Claims
Claims form the core of your patent, defining precisely what is legally protected. When claims mention specific features or operations, clear and detailed drawings illustrating these elements enhance claim enforceability.
For instance, if your claim references a "spring-loaded valve mechanism," a carefully prepared drawing that shows:
The spring component itself,
Its placement within the overall device,
Connections to the valve system,
The movement facilitated by the spring
provides essential clarity. Such precision makes your claims easier for patent examiners to review and approve, and subsequently reduces ambiguity in potential legal disputes.
USPTO Requirements for Utility Patent Drawings
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has strict rules for utility patent illustrations. Some key requirements include:
Black and white line drawings
Proper margins and paper size
Numbered elements referenced in the specification
Consistent scaling and proportions
Exploded views, sectional views, or detailed close-ups, where needed
If these requirements aren’t met, the USPTO may issue an Office Action or even reject the application.
This is why many inventors rely on professional patent drawing services; they ensure compliance and quality from the start.
Functional Accuracy = Legal Strength
For utility patents, precision in drawings directly translates to stronger legal protection.
Poorly executed or incomplete illustrations can result in:
Misinterpretation of your invention,
Narrowed claim scope,
Reduced enforceability during litigation,
Easier paths for competitors to circumvent your protection.
Conversely, clear, technically accurate drawings:
Clarify and broaden patent claims,
Accelerate the examination and approval process,
Strengthen your position during litigation or licensing negotiations.
When Are Utility Patent Drawings Most Critical?
Utility drawings are especially important when:
The invention is mechanical or has multiple moving parts
There are internal structures not visible externally
The claims depend heavily on physical arrangements or sequences
The function or innovation is difficult to explain in words alone
Even if not strictly required, utility drawings are highly recommended in such cases, and often requested by the USPTO for clarification.
How Professional Drawing Services Help
Professional patent illustrators bring a combination of technical drawing skills and knowledge of patent law. They:
Understand the functional intent of the invention
Use precise CAD software to create accurate, scalable diagrams
Format the drawings according to the USPTO and PCT standards
Collaborate with patent attorneys or agents to ensure alignment with claims
This results in drawings that are clear, compliant, and compelling.
International Considerations
Filing internationally? Keep in mind that utility patent drawing standards can differ across jurisdictions. For instance, the European Patent Office (EPO) and Japan Patent Office (JPO) each have distinct formatting and submission requirements.
Partnering with a professional drawing service that understands these international nuances ensures your illustrations are adapted for global compliance, saving time, avoiding costly rejections, and streamlining your path to protection across borders.
Summation
In the world of utility patents, your drawing is more than a visual; it’s a powerful tool that enhances clarity, strengthens claims, and improves enforceability. A well-crafted utility patent drawing supports your functional claims, accelerates your application, and protects your intellectual property from copycats.
Investing in patent drawing services ensures your invention is properly illustrated, legally compliant, and fully understood, giving you a stronger, more defensible patent from day one.

There are several reasons that can prompt an ecommerce business to switch platforms. As a company grows and conditions in the market change, a business may find the need to replace an entire platform to stay competitive. However, implementing a new platform can be expensive. While there are relatively affordable options, this undertaking will still require financial and time investment. It also has serious risks to your business. Therefore, it's important to execute your plan carefully. If you’re able to do this, the benefits of implementing the right ecommerce platform includes efficiencies in your operations and revenue growth. On the other hand, mistakes in choosing and implementing a system can mean the end of a business. As a merchant, it is crucial to give this undertaking a serious thought.Components Of An Ecommerce PlatformEcommerce software offers merchants the technologies to create an online store. It can be an all-in-one platform with optional point-of-sale hardware such as Shopify, or it can be an individual software component that can be used with another platform. It will depend on the size of your company and your specific business needs what components are critical for your ecommerce platform to have. Here are some features these platforms normally offer:Shopping cart: For managing customer registration and facilitating checkout and payment.Content management system: To manage both product and non-product related content including text, images and videos.Search function: A vital part of online shopping that directly impacts the customer experience.Customers demand a quick and easy way to search for what they need.Order management: For processing orders from start to finish, including fulfillment and shipping.Payment systems: Support for different payment options including credit cards, debit cards, PayPal and other gateways.Inventory monitoring: For keeping track of product availability.Business intelligence: Collect data and create reports on performance indicators. Why Should You Change Your Ecommerce Platform? One of the most common reasons to change platforms is to enhance the experience of your customers when shopping at your online store. This could mean making it easier for customers to search for products and navigate through your site, faster loading of web pages, better quality of graphics, a simpler checkout or dynamic product landing pages. Nowadays, many are considering changing to an ecommerce platform that can handle responsive designs to support mobile shopping. It may be that you need a more feature-rich solution because of growing business opportunities such as the need to add multiple sites or micro sites. An increase in inventory or sales channels can also trigger the decision for a platform change. On the other hand, poor performance can also call for a complete platform overhaul to improve aspects such as average order value, conversation rates, search results and bounce rates. When your current platform is already obsolete or cannot support your growing business, then it makes sense to change to a scalable platform. If you require certain components such as customer management to be integrated with your website, then you need to use a platform that will allow this. If you're looking to cut costs, it is smart to upgrade from a traditional ecommerce platform and invest in one that does away with separate hosting services and expensive hardware.Understanding The RisksThere are several risks in transitioning to a new ecommerce platform, including:Using up resources such as time and money that can be allotted to your core business.Your business process may be impacted when you implement a new platform. You will likely need to spend time on training your staff.Changes to your store's URLs will affect traffic to your site so be prepared to lose some at the start.Unexpected problems during an integration project that can cause you to go over budget and experience implementation delays. Plan for these occurrences.

Develop specific goals. Identify how you will measure success. Look at your existing platform and your company's performance. How can a different system help your company make the most of its strengths and improve on its weaknesses? By answering this question, you will come up with specific requirements for a new ecommerce platform, including what you need to enhance customer experience and system function. It is also a good idea to speak with other ecommerce merchants about their own experiences. Find out what solutions are available within your budget and what you can realistically implement and support. Lastly, research potential vendors and engage them to evaluate their solutions. Make sure to define your business goals and requirements from the beginning. Although it is possible that they will change once you explore different options offered by vendors, be careful that you will not be swayed too much from your original purpose.Do not try to do it without help of experts. How Can Businesses Benefit from Budgeting and Planning?
Tumblr media
Starting a business of your own is a dream many have. This dream becomes slightly trickier if you don’t come from a finance background. There are many questions that could crop up in your mind, and most of them might be related to the money it will take to lay the foundation of a startup. Many around you might advise you to make a budget, and you might wonder, “How can I make a budget when I’m just starting out?” Well, let us tell you that budgeting and planning can be the make-or-break point of your little dream. In this article, we will be explaining exactly why a business, be it a startup or an MNC, can benefit greatly from budgeting and planning.
Are you looking for a guiding light that can help you take the first step towards a successful business? Then we at Triforce Global Solutions have got you covered. Whether you’re looking for an experienced organisation to help you with budgeting and planning or someone to improve your business system implementation, our team is available to answer all your questions. After being around in the industry for over 60 years, there are numerous organisations who have excelled with our modern business system implementation strategies. Rest assured, we’ll make sure your company’s name goes on that list as well.
Why is Budgeting and Planning Important for a Business?
When you think of budgeting and planning, what comes to your mind? Perhaps a lot of number-crunching, attention to minute details, and long hours of making informed decisions, right? While all of this is true, let us tell you that the efforts behind budgeting and planning are always reflected in the results. The process of modern business system implementation, too, becomes easier with a budget in hand. Let’s take a look how budgeting and planning can help your business prosper:
Prevents Overspending
When you make a budget for your business, it gives you a clear view of the available finances. This allows you to set realistic monetary goals and make informed financial decisions. By doing so, you prevent overspending and get to prioritise essential expenditure. The reason budgeting and planning stops businesses from overspending is because your spending limits have already been set. Also, budgeting helps you supervise your current financial performance. This is what helps businesses identify when they are moving away from the set goals and enables them to take active measures to stay on course.

Makes Debt Management Efficient
When businesses focus on budgeting and planning, the process of managing their debts becomes much more efficient. You can also clearly see the areas where repayments are needed. Therefore, a business can set money aside that’s exclusively meant to repay debts and any other incomplete financial obligations. With our team monitoring your business system implementation and creating your budgeting and planning chart, you can identify the areas where costs can be reduced. This will help you reallocate that money towards paying off the debts.
Aids in Achieving Financial Goals
When you establish a company, you have some financial goals, right? Once those goals have been accomplished, you can know for certain that your company is doing well. You can then continue functioning in the current manner or even expand your operations, if possible. In the absence of budgeting and planning, you won’t know how your company is performing and the end of the year might reveal that you’ve been running in loss. Hence, with a set budget, you can stay on track to achieve your financial goals and stay informed about the financial health of your business.
Prepares You for Emergencies
As a business owner, you’re always prepared for the unexpected. For example, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it impacted businesses everywhere. Executives had to make rapid decisions on how to proceed further. While changes of such magnitude can never be predicted, it does remind you that you may have to pivot at any given point.
With a set budget, you’re more equipped to handle the rainy days, if and when they occur. Budgeting and planning allows you to set funds aside for emergencies so that cash is available for sudden expenditure. This way, you don’t have to withdraw money from one sector of the business instead.
Attracts Investors
If you were to invest your money in a company, what would you do? You would go through their records, read testimonials, and make a decision based on their performance, right? That’s exactly how making a budget attracts potential investors to your business. When an investor sees that a company has a proper budget, they can determine the commitment and hard work being put in from every end. As an organisation, when you can present balance sheets to an investor, they can clearly see your expenses and the money you can possibly bring in. This clarity of thought gives investors the confidence to bet on your company.
Conclusion
There is an observation we have made after being involved in the budgeting and planning of so many organisations till date, which is that making a budget often encourages employees. Once they see financial goals being set, it motivates them to work harder. In smaller companies, particularly, employees become more alert and aware as they know how the budget is also tied to commissions and bonuses. Therefore, you can also use your budget to create a deeper sense of purpose among your team members.
We know that creating a budget can be difficult as a business owner while also managing multiple other responsibilities. Let us share this responsibility with you so that we can help you initiate a journey towards glory and immense success.

Highlight How Kitchen And Bathroom Renovations Help To Change The Layout To Increase Space?
Frequent expert renovations and upgrades indicate an essential and unavoidable part of maintaining a decent quality of life. It is a common scenario that homeowners frequently start updating kitchens and bathrooms to keep them looking pleasing and highly functional. It is high time that we acknowledge that properly designed daily-use rooms make life easier and significantly boost home value. Kitchen and bathroom renovations ultimately aim to rearrange these areas and make them more functional and sustainable.
Tumblr media
How do kitchen and bathroom renovations help add more space with layout changes?
Helping old spaces work:
We live differently today; therefore, older kitchens and bathrooms frequently have outmoded layouts.  There are certain kitchens that have too little counter space, poor lighting, or a challenging design.  Sinks may be significant, showers difficult, or bathrooms lack storage.  Putting effort to repairing these rooms enables you to reorganise them to make them more spacious and user-friendly. Kitchens can become open to the rest of the house by removing walls or shifting fixtures.  A once-closed kitchen can become an airy centre point for the dining and living rooms.  Moving a toilet, shower or washbasin can balance and improve a bathroom.  Turning a bathtub into a walk-in shower or installing a floating washbasin cabinet can make a tiny bathroom feel bigger.
Brings in ideas for better storage:
Kitchen renovation and remodelling allow for clever storage and layout changes.  Tall cabinets and ceiling cupboards save floor space in kitchens.  Built-in appliances, pull-out pantries, and spinning corner cabinets help organise a room. Shower wall cubbies, mirror cabinets, and built-in shelves improve bathrooms.  These keep things close and eliminate counter and floor clutter, making the area appear larger.
Lighting/Roomflow:
Room layout can affect light flow, and renovation contractors can execute the same.  Making mindful changes to the structure of walls and by relocating windows and doors lets more light into kitchens and bathrooms, making them feel larger and more inviting.  Open kitchen design lets light flow freely, while larger mirrors or frosted glass doors make bathrooms look larger. Proper lighting placement helps in efficient space management.  Upgraded kitchens have under-cabinet, island, and ceiling lighting to improve visibility.  Bathrooms operate and feel better with layers of light around mirrors and showers.
Modern designs promote better use of space:
Recent design trends emphasise clean, uncomplicated styles that open up rooms. Contemporary, slender fixtures can replace bulky ones during a redesign to save room and look good. Use of kitchen islands or breakfast bars work well to replace dining tables, making them ideal for cooking, eating, and socialising. Toilets and sinks situated on the wall make bathrooms appear larger than they are. Shower doors without frames are more open.
Key Takeaways!
Besides appearing nicer, kitchen and bathroom renovations and improvements can improve your home's functionality.  Hence, it is the need of the hour to seek support from renovation contractors, as well as planned and careful arrangement changes, can reveal space, make rooms more functional, and make your house more pleasant and attractive.  Changing the arrangement can improve your home's flow, storage, or appearance. Hence, if you really want your kitchen and bathroom renovations to last long while serving you well, wait no longer and contact expert renovation contractors without further delay. Sous Chef Recruitment: Key Skills and Qualities to Look For
Hence, it becomes somewhat easier for the Sous Chef to take over the responsibilities of the executive chef-namely, kitchen management, food production at the highest standards, and even the leading of the team in the hour-to-hour decisions concerning kitchen service operations. Hiring a motivated Sous Chef, therefore, is an exercise in futility as the best kind of candidate would pretty much have to form an awesome trifecta between cooking skills, leadership skills, and versatility.
This blog looks at some of the critical skills and qualities that should be considered while hiring a sous chef. The next section describes how working with recruitment agencies in the UAE, such as Alliance Recruitment Agency, can smooth your search for the best Sous Chef Recruitment.
Tumblr media
1. Culinary Expertise and Technical Skills
The Sous Chef must be a great cook. They must possess comprehensive technical knowledge regarding the skills of cooking, food preparation, and presentation. Here are a few keywords to refresh your memory:
Food Knowledge: A top Sous Chef must be well aware of various cuisines and cooking techniques. While your restaurant may offer modern cooking, the Sous Chef can work with different culinary styles from French to Italian.
Knife skills: A kitchen's hallmark of precision. The Sous Chef Recruitment should be proficient in using a knife for the widely accepted techniques of chopping, slicing, and dicing.
Creativity: A good Sous Chef should not only be proficient in making recipes but also be able to create new menu items and assist in recipe formulation.
2. Skills in leadership and management
While often a leader in the kitchen when the executive chef happens to be away, leadership and management skills usually take center stage in Sous Chefs. Here are some qualities one might want to look out for:
Team Management: The Sous Chef should also give motivation, organization in kitchen work, and a high degree of competence. They should be good at delegation, again, a critical skill during busy times.
Conflict Resolution: With many things building up in accusations, the kitchen has to be one of the most stressful areas. An able Sous Chef remains professional by handling all conflicts calmly whilst ensuring harmonious teamwork.
Communication: Another very necessary factor is communicating properly for the smooth functioning of the kitchen. The Sous Chef, therefore, should be able to pass the information properly between kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel.
3. Organizational Skills
Sous Chefs should know how to operate quickly in an active environment as well as multitask and handle their time well. They should always keep things orderly while ensuring food preparation, cooking, and plating are done precisely and on time.
Inventory Control: The Sous Chef is responsible mainly for keeping an inventory where materials are available for kitchen use and also for waste management.
It is thereby ensured that the sous chef is up to date on kitchen hygiene and food safety practices; it, therefore, applies all health and safety regulations to prevent accidents and uphold high standards.
4. Flexibility and Problem-Solving Skills
The restaurant industry is full of surprises; therefore, a Sous Chef Recruitment must be able to adapt to the changing circumstances very quickly. Sourcing supplies, hearing out customer preferences, and having almost sudden meetings.
Changing menu demands: that is what a proper Sous Chef Recruitment should possess - resourcefulness and calmness under pressure.
Flexibility: A well-organized sous chef should be able to work around changing menus and ingredients, differing kitchen layouts and dynamics, without losing sight of front-line needs.
Problem-Solving: With all sorts of problems rising unexpectedly-from equipment failures to shortages of ingredients, the strong sous chefs think fast on their feet to come up with a solution.
