Okay so Soos maybe is like a father figure to Stan, but that probably comes with baggage. Because probably like the Canon Stan—Sonemployee relationship, Stan’s not going to admit he sees Mr. Ramineriz as a father figure! Lil Stan has baggage from his last one, and I think if he’s slowly unlearning his lesson of selfishness, maybe it make him guarded.

Because he has been hurt, Ford leaving him, His Ma and Shermie leaving (Not by choice but still), and Pa is now dead, and he probably has mixed feelings about his Grauntie and Grunkle.

He had his heart on his sleeve and learned another lesson, to not let people in. Or else they see the selfish monster, who’s nothing but a spare.

However the sweet thing about Soos is, that he doesn’t come with a strained past, he is an adult figure who wants to hang out with Stan, and thinks Stan is cool. There’s no pressure, or strings.

He just…is there. He sees past Stan’s lack of self worth and sees Stan as what he is, Stan.

He doesn’t see Ford, he doesn’t see Stan as an extra or a replacement part. He just sees a hurt kid who’s on the verge of graduating highschool, and talks with Stan. Tells Stan it’s okay, to ask him on advice on things.

“I’m great at telling people things, dude!”

Soos teaches Stan, how to fix things, since Soos at one point was a handy man, and to be a handy man, you must be very handy.

Stan manages to pick up that type of skill, surprisingly easily. Maybe it’s because he’s learned from working on the Stan-O-War.

I agree that Stan would never admit he sees Soos as a father figure not even to himself.

And Soos is also the exact opposite of what a father is, at least in Stan's experience, so he can’t be one of those.

Now I need a little self indulgent cheesy father’s day fic, in which Soos hates father’s day just as much as his own birthday. Getting Soos’ birthday erased from the calendar didn’t go so well the last time Stan tried. Maybe Stan should try something simpler for father's day and just distract Soos long enough until he forgets what day it is. That way he won't be sad anymore!

They hang out and it’s all very sweet and at the end of the day someone mentions just what an adorable Father-Son duo they make.

Stan panics, makes up a non-specific excuse and runs away.

They don't talk about it afterwards, but they will spend the next father’s day together as well. And the one after and after…

even Natalie has suffered from the flattening of all the characters. in season two she let a kid die in her place to survive!!! now suddenly Nat is the best girl, the only one with a moral compass, everything bad that happens in the wilderness happens in spite of her. but how is that interesting? I was so excited to watch her cave in and join the atrocities with the other girls and the interpersonal conflicts that would arise from Shauna becoming AQ, but we just got nothing. Nat lets Shauna take the gun (and their chance of going home with it) and doesn't even put up a fight. I wonder if the writers were at all influenced by fans' hate of Shauna following season 2, or if they genuinely planned on this hot garbage

Yeah I heavily agree. As someone who writes both narrative fiction and scripts, one of my pet peeves is backtracking… of course there is ALWAYS exceptions. And certainly, I think it was the right choice to say that summer would cause some girls to rebuke the choices and events of winter. But… all of them basically??? That was kind of weird to me.

And Nat kind of has the most crazy regression into this “savior” role because that’s not what I took her season 2 ending to be pointing to. I mean Nat says to Ben that she’s WORSE than the others. Of course, that’s her guilt talking. But we lose the opportunity to see her believe this, and give into the queen ship she’s offered at the end of season 2. THEY BOW TO HER! Misty kisses her hand or something?? I would have much rather seen all the girls fall into religious psychosis or something because the craziness of the finale definitely seems to be heading in that direction 😭😭

And when I say religious psychosis, I say that knowing like that’s just one possibility for a season 3 arc. But I think that I was excited to see the togetherness of the group in season 3, reformed as a team but participating in the belief of the wilderness altogether. (Shauna was always going to try to be AQ, and I think S2 set that up well with the final diary entry. But doing it bc she’s a psychopath I guess still seems so crazy to me. Like they seemed to fully believe her baby died for them 😭 that’s like immediately enough to make someone a high religious figure)

i was so happy that ganondorf was a character in totk when it was announced but now i am just sad about it honestly, i get that the older games had the trio as a good kids VS evil old guy thing, but i sincerely hoped that how much botw revolutionized(?) about the zelda principle in terms of gameplay they would now have the chance to do so, at least a little bit, in totk with the story

and then, as much as i like his design, hes again just an already very old evil guy that appeared out of nowhere for all we know that needs to be stopped by some kids/really young people and all the crumbs of personality or well ... not even crumbs but pure idea of a backstory we have to interpret into it all from things like manner of speech, animation and design elements bc all he does is some evil monologing that doesnt even serve well for interpretation

like, he was already so old when we first see him, what did he do all his life?? like even if he only turned aggressive once rauru founded this version of hyrule he had to have lived idk 50 years before that, was he just a regular leader of his people before that?? was he just .. some dude?? all we actually know is ... old evil guy shows up and attacks the perfect and good kingdom (tm) dont we? maybe some vague, arbitrary you denied me *generic villain thing like power, rule etc* line but thats it?

(i dont mind having to read between the lines, it can be very fun, but it also depends on if you are reading between lines and theres something intentionally left there or if you are trying really hard to see something but theres nothing actually there for you to find; to be clear, i also like creating your own ideas around stuff, but when you get to know some people from basically birth to their prime time and then theres a guy thats just there to be an endboss and even now in modern games doesnt get anything beyond a neat design and fun bossfight its just ... so flat?sad? i love interpeting but i also wouldnt mind to see something more for once ..)

just wanted to say thanks to folks who reblogged the nice post today; been feeling very rough lately, stressed out to hell and so on. Lots happening in life atm that's objectively not bad stuff (mostly), but big. So, yknow, anyone with the amount of mental illness I have is gonna find themselves getting symptoms. on top of that I've just not been feeling it on tumblr much or social media in general, lots of feeling kind of unseen or misunderstood... yknow the whole deal.
