💖 Day 3.5 is now available! 💖

For the last couple of months, only Server Boosters had access to the 3.5 update... Buuuuut now it's available for everyone to play in the 14DWY Discord — and soon itch.io once I'm happy with the QA and state of the game — so please don't feel pressured to join unless you want to!!

What's been added to the 3.5 version?

📺 Streamer Mode!

I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.

Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh

This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!

⚙️ Custom Pronouns!

It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;

Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!

💗 Choose how others perceive you!

You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.

For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!

📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!

You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3

Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!

I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;

I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao

📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!

You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!

Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!

I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;

It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)

🖤 Additional Scenes Update!

Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!

If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.

After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga

🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!

I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!

I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.

Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

How to download and play the update?

(warning: clicking on the following links will open Discord!!) To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!

Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

Guys, I’ve read the Wild Robot

And let me tell you, if I hadn’t recently taken a Children’s Literature class in college, I would’ve said this was the best middle-grade book I’ve read since elementary/middle school. I almost read this book in one night (I was sleepy 😴) like I couldn’t put it down.

The heart behind this book is astounding and it never shies away from showing complex and difficult concepts. You will fall in love with Roz and her gosling son along with all of the other animal on the island.

If you’ve got younger ones, I highly recommend reading this to them or having a little book club moment with them. However, be prepared for whatever hard questions may come your way (i.e. circle of life and climate issues). You know your child and how much they can handle/understand. If you’re like me and much older, it’s a quick read and a great way to finish off a long day. It’s a part of a trilogy and you bet I’m patiently waiting for my hold on a copy at the library.

If the movie is anything like the book (which, given a rewatch of the trailer, it’s looking like so), we are in for a special treat.

One day I hope people realize that Kitsunami already "broke through his programming" back by issue #56 of Idw Sonic

He had an entire mini arc where he dealt with being without Surge for the first time, and in the real world. He met Sonic and his friends directly, tried to work out what his purpose would be without Surge in his life (gave it a shot trying to devote himself to Sonic, seeing him as the next best thing after Surge). And when it was all said and done, he decided after experiencing more that at Surge's side is where he wanted to be.

As of the recent IDW issues, Kit isn't sticking with Surge "because of programming" and "because he just needs for other characters to friend him and turn him into a better person". He is at her side because he wants to be. He protects her and aids her because he cares about her, not just because he's serving the strongest guy in the room. And he's not interacting with others because he's decided not to give a shit about anyone else other than Surge (because from his pov, even the "good guys" are fake. From his pov, everyone is someone trying to lie and manipulate their way into pulling him and Surge to their side)

Kit already has decided what he wants to do with his life. And he decided it on his own. Not because of anyone else's wants or wishes. That's the whole point of his speech at the end of #56.

He's burying whatever his and Surge's past is and moving forward with his conviction to be with Surge because it's what he wants.

style experimentation!!! for a story ive been pondering on:) It's very important to me that, if i ever commit to making a comic with this story, that it has a realistic-leaning style. It needs to feel very grounded, but also being simplified into a way that allows distinguishable character designs and is feasibly simple enough for a comic/graphic novel or comic-adjacent format.

I'm more happy with the first, even if the second is a bit more realistic leaning! the first defiantly is cleaner and more distinguishable i think, and has more "personality"(?) than the second, even if the second is in an more dynamic pose. But thats just my thoughts on it so far- if anyone has feedback I'd love to hear it!!!

ummm. Oh god. How to start. Lets see. WELL. In this silly little au (i guess it has become a bit more than just me doodling designs LOL) in my head they have like this sort of zelink dynamic? obviously without all the zelda lore & stuff, just that kind of … okay forgive me I haven’t brushed up on my zelink lore for a good many years but. Like the princess and her personal knight that doesn’t really talk much sort of thing.

this made more sense in my head. But yeah. They have the vibes of zelink ? At least if i remember zelink right, I have a really bad memory :’) not exactly the same, i do think etho talks to joel (whereas if iirc link never really talks) - especially after getting to know him a bit - but just. they have the Vibes. You know?

I reckon Joel’s definitely very into sculpting in this au, maybe dabbles a little in painting - I imagine mezalea to be very heavy on art and expression in general. think you’d especially see lots of pottery and textiles all around the place. He probably also has an interest in some form of like. um. whats the word. Some sort of … fighting. lmao. Specifically thinking of fencing, i had this idea in my head that he’s watched Etho practice outside the palace at some point and is just absolutely fascinated and enamored. by both the practice and etho himself haha.

and for etho… talented swordsman? he is Not washed. i dont really have many ideas for his character in this au To be completely honest, mostly just of his personality. Although, I alsooo think he’s probably not actually from mezalea? I like to draw him with those pointy elf ears, and i think mezaleans are just humans. I cant remember if thats canon or not but um. mezaleans have human ears, so i’d imagine etho’s probably from like.. rivendelle? Is that. What it’s called. The elf guys? Are they elves??? Goodness I cant remember. Grimlands would make sense too since i THINK they’re kind of like. technical engineer guys? but i dont know what species they are um so ,,, yeah,,,,

i think joel’s probably a bit put off by etho at first, mostly just because he’s not super enthused about the idea of a personal guard, but also because the guys a bit odd, you know? but he’s also probably suuuper intrigued by him. he wants to figure this new guy out, and when they start talking a bit more, i think. They are both incredibly charmed by the other. head over heels? possibly.

most of my ideas of this au are just little scenes that are cute and silly but dont follow any main plot. I would love to write some one-shots of some of the ideas i have in the future, but as of right now im experiencing a bout of creative burnout and am busy with the holidays - spending time with family, so… not right now lol!

Okay okay, so Rumi is, specifically, an allegory for queer people who find themselves down exclusionary rabbitholes and end up in groups such as TERFs. And I will be writing this from a transgender POV, because that is the easiest way for me to explain it and hopefully I can explain better with my own anecdotes.

The first thing is that Rumi's guardian (Does she have a name? I'm so bad with names, sorry guys) claims again and again that she cares for Rumi regardless of her marks. However, in practice, she tells Rumi to hide her marks, and that her marks should be something she works to remove. As someone with very visible birthmarks similar to Rumi, along with seeing my own experiences as a trans teen in her story, this really stuck with me. She's shamed for being different, but is told that this is what support looks like. And because she's told to hide by this "supportive person", she never gets to find actual, true support.

Secondly, her only friends are the other members of Huntrix. Whose entire purpose is hunting demons. Their reactions to the Saja Boys specifically screamed TERF to me, because while we, the viewers, know that they have an ulterior motive early on (which, maybe I interpreted this wrong, but it felt like Jinu was never fully on the side of the demons. As the leader of the band, I find it hard to believe everything they did was inherently malicious), what they see are demons that started a boy band, yet they immediately jump to "oh they're stealing our fans, harvesting humans' souls, we have to silence them!" Change the wording and target: "they're stealing our women's spaces, corrupting our young daughters, we don't want our children exposed to that" and you have a common transphobic argument. And Rumi is exposed to that all the time. Along with having no support from people who claim to support her, of course she would parrot these ideas. Because she can be the "safe demon" who's "not like the rest" because she hides the socially unacceptable parts of herself and rejects Gwi-Ma's voice (who, later in the movie, we find out can communicate with even humans if strong enough anyway).

When Rumi finally gets a support system, Jinu, that's when Rumi starts to question what she has been taught her whole life. That's when she starts standing up for herself. That's when she realised she's in an unsafe environment and can't come out, but these people are also her only friends. She can't just leave them. If she leaves, and they find out she has marks, they'll go after her. She'll no longer be a "socially acceptable" demon.

At the end of the movie, it's left pretty much up to interpretation whether the general public cares that Rumi has marks, or even knows what they mean, and whether the opinion people who do know of demons hold of them now. But what is made clear is that all three Huntrix members were all victims of a TERF-like argument for years, and it was Rumi finally finding the courage to stand up for herself that convinced them to at least stop aligning with some of the values they were taught.

Another line that stuck with me was "you dress conservatively," when discussing how Rumi never wants to go to the bathhouse. If we want to flip the allegory the other way and say she is dysphoric about her demon traits, closeted trans people dealing with body dysmorphia do tend to dress more conservatively to hide their body. Hell, I still will wear hoodies in the summer to hide my chest, as long as I know I'll be in an air-conditioned space, and I never wear shorts. Rumi is dysphoric about her marks.

You could also treat the demons and humans as a gender binary, and Rumi is nonbinary. She hates her marks because they're "too demon," but she's not fully human either and no one will accept her for that. She's forced to choose to pretend to be a human, and Jinu tries to tell her she's a demon and nothing more. While Jinu does accept her being not one or the other, that's when he truly becomes the support Rumi needed.

And just to end this, maybe I'm just a utopian thinker, but I do believe getting rid of or weakening Gwi-Ma (who could be one of those alt-right cis people who dress up in poor drag to make up scenarios about trans people and cause fearmongering, like Josh Seiter. I don't know, I'm just saying. (Also was he fully defeated? I zoned out so far after Jinu's death, sorry)) would allow for an agreement or peace between the humans, hunters, and demons.

Like, you made me realize so many things on why Sengen is so cool, amazing and things (I literally cannot put my feelings into words wtf)

Like, they are so similar and different at the same time, they both hide their feelings behind a marks carefully crafted by them and how they both would immediately see behind eachothers mask.

I'm literally not okay that ending/sequel is so Senkaku coded, I mean cool ship but I really don't see chemistry behind them, but ignore that.

And, and, I don't see enough people taking about it but only Senku and Gen (and Byakuya) have dual coloured hair.

I think they are soulmates but because it's a Shounen jump they were afraid of the gays.

Anyways, thank you for your blog and for feeding my Sengen delusion, I love you and continue being cool.

i understand not being able to put feelings into words because same i have so many thoughts on sengen in my drafts but it's so hard to make it all... proper-y

and one of the things is the dual coloured hair thingy!! i've noticed that and it's just sitting in my notes here like:

they are complete opposites and yet so similar. they match each other's freak so badly it gets on my nerves and everyone else's. like there's so many little things about sengen that one can elaborate about, which makes me think inagaki-sensei put a lot of thought into their dynamic?

for example, shoes. gen goes from barefoot (representing tsukasa's side, as tsukasa is also barefoot. minami, tsukasa's #1 fan is also barefoot) to wearing matching shoes with senku for winter (as far as i'm aware, only taiju and yuzuriha, senku's best friends, share the same shoe style, so it can be inferred that senku made the shoes for gen. although, nikki's is similar but slightly different too) to going barefoot again after winter, then finally officially wearing the senku shoes post treasure island arc. shoes/outfits/designs really say A LOT about the characters in dr stone imo and we need to talk about it more (boichi clearly puts a lot of story details into the design!) like the villagers wearing the same shoes/colour etc... oh i could go on and on.

so yeah definitely– senku, byakuya and gen being the only characters with dual coloured hair is something to discuss! i feel like gen is highly involved in the top best byakuya story lore moments honestly but that might just be me and my sengen goggles on idk lol

as for the extra chapters, i honestly just kinda ignore the senhaku in it?? LMAO like they made it easy to ignore since the scenes were just a few pages and not really continual. that being said, i don't mind senhaku and i think it's a decent ship which would be fun if explored romantically, but yeah i personally see them as like... cousins or something. not only senku and kohaku tbh, but senku and all the villagers are in some sort of relative-y relationship in my eyes because it's hard to remember that senku and byakuya are not biologically related when they look like carbon copies of each other lbr

Would kinda match his behaviour, like he's detached and muted but is not disloyal, doesn't outwardly crave a close bond over a multitude of factors (hurts to let someone in only for them to leave the second he gets attached), he tolerates it however if someone breach it slowly. Limit on physical contact, another masked guy so there's a barrier there between himself and everything else.

He's always processing emotions differently, or at all really. Most of the things and events are easy to bury under layers of habit and duty. It's hard to feel them, it's just easier to...dissect, interpret, clinically examine emotions than to experience. Easier to detect and recognize patterns; how a smile works, what warmth is (tilt of a head, tilt too much to the left then it's anger etc).

Easier to see it in a distance, than to let any of it reach and settle inside him, whether he wants to acknowledge it or not.

Maybe that's why in mw3 he's just there, you know the scene I'm talking about.

Maybe he's waiting, watching, listening for that pattern and familiar rhythm he's came to memorized, the rise and fall clocked precisely at 1.2 seconds between each breath, waiting for his hand to swat his left wrist away with a cough.

But it doesn't happen, there's nothing.

Even though Ghost bloody knows (intellectually and clinically) that it's over, there's no pulse no movement no breath, the bullets gone through there's red staining his pants, there's also a large part of Ghost that just can't know it.

Can't process it, not all the way. But he also can't file it neatly away to the back of his head like everything else.

So maybe that's why he remained there even if the timer goes down and the bomb went off.

He can't let go, can't know how to leave, when to leave, when to accept.
