man I don't know what to do with Wuthering Waves 😭 like this game is really good and I enjoyed it for a while, but I don't know if I want to keep playing anymore...?

on one hand, I'm waiting for Phrolova as she was my most anticipated character (I love that she's voiced by Sonetto's VA in EN and her design is really cool), but on the other hand I'm not liking the story at all lately and the characters in general I just can't get attached to for some reason. Also the future characters they showed don't appeal to me either, so I don't see why I would keep playing at this point because characters mean A LOT to me, they genuinely make the difference (in fact, the very reason why I don't think I could ever drop HSR is because I love so many of them)

guess I'll stick for a little bit more at least until Phrolova's banner comes and we'll see from there

Honestly I cannot believe that I've been on tumblr for just over a year now and somehow there's already so many of you wonderful people here that are reading, enjoying, and supporting my silly little fics. When I jumped over here from AO3, I had not anticipated how much fun I was going to have getting to chat with all of y'all while also sharing my stories with those of you who aren't on AO3. I've definitely made some wonderful friends this past year because of tumblr and I just want to say thank you to everyone for the support. I always mean it when I say y'all are the reason I keep writing these stories 💖

I could certainly get sappier but instead I'll just invite y'all to join me for my first ever celebration! There's a few fun things below the cut that y'all can pop up with in my ask box starting today May 3 through Wednesday May 8! I tried to think of some interesting things that I could realistically make time to do with everything currently going on in my life, especially because I'm also still trying to stockpile rough drafts for many of my stories so that I can still have updates during my upcoming "writing hiatus" (that I'll explain more about later). happy march 1st!! kit9’s third progress report dropped today with a special bonus from nemlei!!

firat things first, we have The Entity in the thumbnail!! are they a little bigger to anyone else..? just me? anyways, the lights are a fun addition to the demon/dream world. i’m sure this has no importance whatsoever (lying)

next, we have… this. our dear protagonists caught in a compromising position, oh no!! seriously, though. what are they doing here? were they going to fuck in the car? good for them!! they don’t look very pleased to be disturbed by whoever this is, or disturbed at all. hopefully this isn’t anyone they used to know.

here, we have… the chapter two decay route vision area. you know, the one where andrew is chasing down ashley to murder her or get murdered.

yeah, that one.

it’s very interesting that we come back here. i wonder if this is still the decay route? also, why are we only seeing andrew’s little pixel sprite here? is she on one of the other sections? is this her vision or andrew’s? it seems to me that it’s ashley’s, considering we’ve been here before, but who knows!! there’s an axe and a signpost missing, and the tone of this preview reads a whole lot differently than the vision did at the end of chapter two.

i wonder what has prompted ashley to ask andrew what he wants? i wonder if he’ll be honest? i wonder if this is an important moment, or if it’s just them fucking around? god, i’m SO excited

little andy spotted!! and mrs graves. she is clearly unhappy about something, and i’m thinking it has to do with leyley. doesn’t it always, when it comes to mrs. graves? my guess is that she’s asking him to keep her out of trouble, but it’s just a guess. we’ve seen before that he only curls up in a ball like this when he’s really upset (and still does it as an adult). poor thing.

here, we see andrew with the entity in the thumbnail area, with the lights and everything. shout out to the little darkened souls in the far corners of the picture. our dear andrew is trying to negotiate with the demon.

i think that this is a huge moment in the game and the plot going forward!! assuming this is the burial route, ashley’s been asked to bring him along, AND he has that hex mark on his hand!! this demon is going to steal his soul!! ashley’s gonna be mad.

this could potentially happen in the decay route, too. if we assume the earlier dream/vision sequence is decay, this could be decay. maybe he’s going to meet the entity on his own regardless of what happens with ashley. again, who knows!!

I haven't written any actual updates in a bit. So anyway here's me: cut for wittering about writing and quilting, of all things.

I did finish the first draft of the novel in the first week of March. So that is all up in the beta doc, if you're one of the people that signed up for that. I have immediately started in on the sequel, because the stopping point I hit was an interpersonal landmark of stopping point, right before a whole new important new plot pops up.

So far there's one scene in the completed work I'm going to go back and alter to include one more character in, because if he's introduced there then his role in the sequel is much easier to explain.

I also have introduced myself a timeline-limiting complication for the sequel, in my usual fine style where I'm bad at linear time and then decide blithely to include an event that must take place in very clearly delineated linear time intervals, but that's just how I generally roll.

Anyway, that's going well. If anyone remembers my solarpunk mammoths of 2018 that I put on dreamwidth, I'm using the 2/3 of a novel I wrote for that and repurposing it for this, because it works much better with a plot, which this has. I'm going to fuss with that a bit more and try to get this sequel into an approximate book shape and then maybe I'll come back and look at this first draft, which is slowly accumulating notes from readers (and if you signed up to give notes or read, it's there for you now), and try to give that another pass-through. But of course, in the midst of all this, my winter of relative idleness will be ending and I'll be back to the farm at the beginning of April. But perhaps this year I will have a better work/life balance and I will continue to progress on writing?

Or at least I'll get back into fanfic, as I have some chapters of those like half-done. Who knows.

In other news I went yesterday and spent the day with Dude's mom, who makes quilts for charity-- her sister, dude's aunt, is in a nursing home now, and the only thing she wants to do with her time is assemble quilt tops, so now Dude's poor mom has a backlog of thirty-five quilt tops she's got to finish and bind before she can donate, which leaves very little time for her to create her own quilts. So I learned the quickest, easiest, most durable style of finish for the donation quilts they do, on an example whose size proclaims its intended purpose for donation to a NICU (they like 30"x42" pieces because those fit nicely with the units they use), and have taken home two more of a nursing home lap quilt size to finish with that same technique.

I've been moderately interested in quilting and there are so many ways to do it I've been intimidated out of starting, so I figured this was a great way to demystify it a bit. Starting with a competently-assembled quilt top takes out the whole guesswork of which techniques actually matter for me, and then coming from the "I make and donate at least 50 quilts every year" mines, with the aesthetic of "this thing is going to hold up to being machine-washed and dried for hopefully many years by people who don't know anything about sewing and don't care" as the primary motivating factor rather than the indefinable whatsit that you find in the guidelines for show quilts.

There's no hand-finishing on these quilts, though there's a little bit of hand-basting. Which is good because I like to get precious about handwork and this prevents that.

I would like to make exquisitely detailed crazy-quilt hand-finished scrappy masterpieces for myself someday, but knocking out a whole bunch of This Is Getting Donated So Do It Right pieces seems like a really good way to get out of my own head first and just learn how to do it properly.

I also got briefly obsessed with decoupage and have been hand-painting biscuit tins but those were sort of fleeting bits of madness.

As for the atomoxetine-- it should have begun to be effective this past week, and I simply can't tell whether it is. Is it doing anything? Well I'm drinking a whole lot of water. I've had slightly more trouble with my memory than usual, and I did burn dinner one night when I put it into the oven, forgot to set a timer (I often forget to set timers), and went into a different room and then wildly hyperfocused on something pointless to the point of entirely losing track of time, which is not normal for me. Dinner was salvageable but I was very stressed out. That wasn't normal for me.

This was the problem I had with the stimulants: they made my tendency to get absorbed in things much worse, without giving me any more ability to initiate tasks than I'd already had. So the SNRI was instead supposed to help me increase my executive function, switch tasks better, etc.; I can't imagine why it would instead be making my hyperfocus worse and removing what little ability I have to keep track of more than one priority at once. :/

I had one wildly productive day in February where I used pomodoro timers etc., starting off with a really great double-sided to-do list where I put Creative tasks on one side and Curative tasks on the other-- under Creation were like, writing, and painting, and those fun things, and under Curation was cleaning, organizing, those kinds of tasks, and when the timers beeped I'd switch from one to the other-- and I've kept meaning to try it again but every fiber of my being resists it when I want to sit and make the double-sided list again. I don't want to do it. I got a lot done and was happy at the time but I did not enjoy it and don't want to do it. :(

So anyway. I'm going to try to figure out a way to do things I want to do and things i have to do and not, idk, die? I don't know.

And my goal this year is to not just show up at the farm and immediately abandon any goals of my own forever and ever and resign myself to doing only work, because that sucked last year and the year before and it's not necessary nor is it helpful.

March Monthly Blog: new zine/comic/whatever in progress, changes to Y.O.C challenge...Potential charms...

Hi! In the past I've kept my monthly blogs exclusive to Patreon, but I've decided I'd like to start posting them on here as well. My monthly blogs are bulk updates on what projects I'm taking on, where I'm at with them, sometimes thoughts on my current direction as an artist...stuff of that ilk. Keep reading under the cut if you're interested!

The award for most exhausting month of the year goes to February...I really am passionate about my major but semesters like these make me reconsider giving up my illustration degree. Let me tell you...nobody gives a singular flying fuck if you have other interests outside of academics if you're in the biosciences. Not one single person.

Anyway, I do have some good news; I have a new personal project in the works! A zine? experimental comic? illustrated book? project surrounding the suppressed childhood memories of my character Jesse. The main goal of the project is to visualize the degredation/suppression of memory as a result of our biology and trauma. I would reeeeeallllyyy like to get it done this year but I've learned the hard way to not make any promises about when I'll complete my projects.

So far, I've gotten the rough plot line squared away, so that's good...the flip side is that it's time to tackle the really tedious shit.

When it comes to small projects...I thought my *Year of Comics 2025 challenge would be a way for me to satiate my desire to get other ideas done while working on a much larger project in the background, but the amount of schoolwork I have (and the amount of downtime I need to recover after) really just isn't compatible with my current approach (attempting to get 4 or 5 pages done a month). I don't want to drop the challenge, so I'm going to attempt one-two pages MAXIMUM a month, with each monthly installment hopefully tying into a larger storyline...again, no promises on anything, especially this. At it's core the Y.O.C challenge is a way for me to practice and feed my urge to make things, not create something incredibly polished and presentable.

My final installment in this life update is that I'm thinking of selling my fish head charms I originally made for my collaboration with Vograce a year ago. I got wrapped up in life, forgot to list them on Kofi and eventually ended up just handing them off to friends...but my friends seem to really enjoy them which makes me think some of you will as well. So...fish charms soon? Who knows, I need to make sure I get my shipping costs and packaging right before I attempt this.

Anyway! Here's to more creating in the near future (hopefully)...

Pokemon Horizons Episode 35 Review - Bramblin About In The Desert

Horizons has returned after taking a few weeks off due to the holidays. Now that the festivities are over, we’re back to our weekly schedule Horizons airing until the next break. This week’s episode happens to be a fun, relaxing episode about the group working odd jobs.

True to every adventurers in stories, the Rising Volt Tacklers’ funds are lacking now. So the group decides to find ways to earn money. Murdock suggests delivering sweets; Orla suggests mechanical repairs and Mollie is thinking about doing medical consultation for trainers. Friede is working odd jobs; one job he gets is the focus of the episode: finding his friend Shine’s lost Bramblin. To be honest, I’d love to pay for Murdock’s sweets.

Roy and Liko tag along; Liko specifically wants to tag along because of her school assignment. She was task to make a presentation about what she considers the ideal bond. She believes that Friede and Cap have the ideal bond, which is why she tagged along so that she could observe and make a report about them. Throughout the episode, both she and we, the viewers, learn new things about Friede and Cap. Cap has an “allergy” where he sneezes uncontrollably when he is called cute; I guess the mighty Captain Pikachu really does have one weakness after all. Despite their strong bond, the two don’t see eye-to-eye at times, which causes them to fight. This is a rather unusual sight, but I quite like it because it gives Cap a lot of character. I did like the scene where Friede and Cap pretended to have an argument, which caused Pikachu to leave and for Friede to make Roy and Liko take over the battle. This was to distract the hunters and for Captain Pikachu to knock out the female hunter’s Avalugg and the rest of the other foes.

Although Bramblin makes its debut here, it’s more plot device as the focus is on the main characters. The only two things it did was roll around like tumbleweed and then get captured by hunters. At least, it did want to be free from the poachers. I guess the reason why Bramblin ran off from its trainer was to use the Let’s Go feature to evolve, which it did! Despite my gripes with Bramblin, I did like the cry. The way it cries makes it sound like an air headed ball of grass.

If you’re not familiar with voice actors, I’ll fill you in on some interesting trivia. Friede’s friend Shine is voiced by Kenji Nojima, who has been a recurring name in the Pokemon anime in the past. He voiced Jimmy from the Legend of Raikou special, Rafe from the Destiny Deoxys movie, and Khoury from the Diamond and Pearl era; he currently voices Roark in Pokemon Masters. The female poacher, the one who really likes cute Pokemon and Captain Pikachu, is voiced by Mariya Ise. If you’re not familiar with Japanese voice actresses, she’s the voice actress of Bonnie from the XY anime. It’s crazy how they get two big names that had done roles in the past as minor characters for this episode. Horizons did this in past episodes and even with the main cast.

Anyways, this was a nice episode to get back into Horizons. Hopefully, taking on odd jobs won’t last too long as plot progression is important. I do wonder what will happen later on. If you watched this episode, what are your thoughts?

Shatterproof: I have more backstories cooking, and a half-finished fic or two, but that's about it. I plan on updating a story at least once before January

Council (1931 AU): backburner, haven't really had inspiration. Still on my radar though, and it spins through my head on occasion!

Marvelous Misadventures: been plucking away at this! I recently had an epiphany regarding the next part of the plot, so hopefully that gets me more excited to work on it

Considering expanding the coloring pages I made into a whole series, that could be cool

Misc stuff includes a couple half-abandoned oneshots, a few drawing ideas, and a major art project that probably won't happen because I'm trying not to burn myself out 😅

Four Swords Projects

Fairytale AU: recently gained fire for this again. Reread and organized all my existing material, edited the outline, and I desperately want to finish it soon. Hesitantly scheduling for before the new year. Draft currently maybe about 30% of the way, at 8k.

Isekai AU: I don't think I've mentioned this to anyone outside discord, but ta da I'm deep in this. I'm probably 90% done, about 30k. This will be a Christmas fic, I hope!!

Vampire lords AU: rambly vampire plot is going. Somewhat slowly. I've been trying to not overload myself with too much, so this has been demoted slightly. :) Bite fics happen spontaneously, though, and there might be another coming.

Rinthia AU: my original world, the one seen in Nothing New Under the Sun. This is kind of a passing thought, definitely in planning stages, but I would kind of like to expand this—see where the other characters are, give y'all some answers, because the answers are there

Non-fandom

I want to do more traditional art, graphite and watercolors mostly, and that usually means using photos or life instead of fandom stuff. Makes it a bit less exciting, but maybe I can find a way of doing that. I miss my lil oil paint studio area but I can work with what I have

I'm crafting a few Christmas presents instead of buying them because I do not have much money. That is something I need to spend like, this next week doing

Sanderson merch: I have a goal of getting a booth at Dragonsteel next December, and selling some small souvenir stuff. My plans involve making more pins (I ordered a couple already, and they're very nice), drawing some coloring pages, and maybe advertising here a little once I actually have some stuff I'm proud of up. This will ideally take a year to get together, though, so no rush.

November

I spent most of November working on The Worst Thing About Earth, kind of an impulse fic that spiraled out of control. I think I burned myself out a little on this, so I've been taking it slowly. Trying to, anyway.

December

So far, I've mostly worked on holiday gift exchanges and some backburner stuff. Like I said, I've been taking it kind of gently. I plan on finishing the FS isekai AU this month, and getting most of the way through the fairytale AU. Getting those off my plate will free me up to think about other things, I think. I also plan on maybe one more bite fic and one more LU disability AU thing before the new year.

January On

I'm not sure what the next month will bring! Ideally, I'll be wrapping up the fairytale AU and intermittently posting a few little things. I'm hoping to return to a couple of my older projects soon, mostly Marvelous Misadventures, because I've left that thing unfinished for LONG ENOUGH.

This next year, I want to try to devote more time to doing things for myself that aren't fandom things. I'd like to reread Stormlight Archive before #5 comes out in December, play more video games, and do more painting. I would like to establish a better habit of making and eating food. I want to play board games a little more often.

Still, the muse can be fickle, and as you probably know by now, I am very good at chasing my inspiration!!

Devlog #3 - Revisions and Indecisions.

Sjdjfdhs hi. Apologies for letting the “see you in a month” turn into several months. Work got busy, then I caught Covid, after recovering I went on vacation, and then work got busy again… But I did work on this VN all throughout.

I didn’t make as much progress as I wanted, but some progress was made nevertheless.

So what exactly did I do? Let me count the ways.

Story Revisions

Changed the premise from magic academia to magic uhhh small business? Workshop? Something like that, I'm not sure what to call it.

My original story followed the player character and their love interest as they explored their university campus. This came to be because I was tinkering with the concepts of "group partners to lovers" & showing the player character as non-humanoid to allow for reader-insert and immersion, like the Obey Me games and the pink sheep MC. But the story stopped being appealing to me, plus the scope started to become bigger than I had anticipated. Multiple CGs in different locations across a giant campus? Yeah that's a nightmare to draw.

I'd still like to explore the idea of a non-humanoid MC though, so maybe that'll be a future game, or at least another brain dump post!

But anyway, I shrunk the premise. One store, one LI, and the customers that enter the little workshop. I'm still sticking to the idea of mundane modern fantasy though.

Because of the location change from university to workshop, I've had to revise the LI a lot. He's shaping up really well though! His name is Fen, I hope I can introduce him here sometime soon.

Building Frameworks

I'm not sure what to call it, so for now I'm calling it frameworks.

Basically, instead of tackling each aspect of the game separately from drafts to completion (ex: drawing all sprites right now and then moving on to writing the script), I want to create rough versions of everything.

I think this will help me because then I'll have an idea of how much work each aspect will entail, and I can hopefully spot and remedy any holes or glaring skill issues.

This is especially important for coding. I'll be using RenPy, the classic engine for visual novels, but I have very little coding experience. I'd like to gain some before I start creating the writing and assets meant to be incorporated into the platform.

By creating the framework (or I guess prototype is the better word in this case), I'll get some understanding of how RenPy works and once I have the assets complete I can insert those in.

For plot frameworks, I'm trying not to go into too much detail. Lots of bullet points cause I fuck with those.

For character frameworks, I must admit I'm putting a lot of thought and detail into Fen, but I think I should as he's the core of this game. I'm reminding myself though that much of him can still be altered if the story requires it.

There's definitely more frameworks I need to think about, like sprites, backgrounds, and music too.

But to sum it up, I'd like to create a rough draft of the entire game, and then only afterward do I start going in and changing details and adding colors to the big picture. I hope that makes sense.

Next Step: Character & Coding Frameworks

For the rest of April and probably the entirety of May as well, I'll focus on fleshing out Fen and putting together the coding framework.

I think figuring out Fen's character arc will help me get an idea of the overall story, which is incredibly daunting yet exciting lol

I'm not planning on making the coding look pretty, I just want to make something that functions. I have no clue how well that will go so please pray for me or something.

Personal Thoughts: I am Afraid

I think the reason why I didn't make a lot of progress is because lately, I've been afraid of doing so. I've never made a game before, or written an original story. I don't know what I'm doing, and instead of directly addressing things I've kept working around them. And because I haven't made much progress, it stresses me out. And then that stress makes me do less work.

Hellooo feedback loop.

I'm an indecisive person who likes to look for the right or most optimal answer. But in a creative project like this, it's hard to know what the "right" answer is cause it can be subjective.

I'm trying to remind myself to enjoy the process and to take small steps, and everything is still changeable as I'm still in the beginning stages. It's hard, but as I'm writing this update I think I'm feeling better.

I'm sure this gamedev journey will be me enjoying the ride and then immediately hating it, so for anyone reading: thank you for your patience. I appreciate you.

I thought he didn’t remember his relationship with Elena so how did he know he slept with Elena?

well, there are two ways to look at this:

The Watsonian perspective: the theories that can be explained in text:

a) Stefan is referring to their hookup at the warehouse concert when he includes himself. He doesn't mean they literally fucked, he means she was about to fuck him (she was-- Stefan already had his hands in her underwear when they were interrupted and she was eager for him), and he's being knowingly imprecise in order to make a cutting remark that still rings true. Interestingly, Elena does not challenge him on this-- because she knows he's being literally true and is forgetting in the moment or because she understands what he says may as well be true from his perspective

b) some of his true memories are bleeding through here since he's riled up-- maybe Rebekah did a lousy job of compelling him. maybe it's just a situation where his unconscious mind can summon those memories but he can't consciously integrate them or understand them.

The Doylist perspective: the theories that can be explained from my authorial perspective-- keep in mind that I wrote this like 3.5 years ago, which was another planet where I wasn't even pregnant yet and I just sort of whiled away my long hours of solitude happily writing fic-- I can't really remember what I was thinking, I can only guess:

a) maybe I knew it was not really true (the watsonian option a) but I thought the line was interesting so I decided to leave it there anyway to stir the pot

b) it's a screw up. I'm a flawed human writing this extremely unwieldy fic with no beta or anyone to proof read or fact check me, so I just forgot and put that in there

c) I've changed my mind over the past few years about what Stefan remembers exactly and have forgotten that I ever changed my mind. There have been a lot of asks about Stefan on this blog, and I have pretty much answered that he doesn't remember that he and Elena were lovers. But maybe in my original framework from a few years ago, he knows they slept together but doesn't remember being IN LOVE. and maybe I forgot that was my original angle. That's plausible. I had pretty severe memory fog during my pregnancy and the first year postpartum, which I why I basically didn't update. Couldn't keep anything straight. The text could support that reading, even now, though, which is an interesting one, I think.

What is my personal interpretation though?

I think it's an interesting incongruence that I decided to wrote, maybe realized it didn't make sense, and then left it in because it was too interesting not to. I seem to have a vague memory of wringing my hands over this line and deciding I liked the interplay.

All this being said, I say a lot of things on this blog, but there is so much room for change as my thoughts on this story and my reading of it evolves. I am sure I have contradicted myself before, and will do so again many times over before this fic is finished. It's a work in progress, and part of that means that "what things mean" evolve over time too. I try to give myself as much wiggle room as possible because there are myriad things where I have changed the plot or changed what a character meant by an earlier line way later and was able to get away with it.

Finally though... what it means is ultimately up to you. I love answering questions about this fic, and talking about it in general, but hopefully the text can support numerous interpretations. Choose the one that feels most fun to you-- and if there's another option you've thought of, that I didn't mention here-- hey, maybe that's the one! Your reading is your reading. 🖤

Chapter 2- Part 8

And goodbye to you too, Victoria- hopefully it won’t be too long until we see her again, she’s neat. Definitely my favorite so far.

And so, here we are, free to wander around as we please until we progress the plot! I’ve got plans to show a certain pair of boys my new little friend here, but let’s look at our new things first…

The PokéDex is the same as it always was, goes all the way to Alola (not that we’ve seen many Alolan Pokémon yet).

Just wanted to see Totodile’s entry outta curiosity to see how they’d write it. And yup- that’s definitely an entry!

Now, as for the Pokégear…

No phone functionality like in Johto, but honestly the map is WAY more important. Finally, let’s take a look at what this region looks like!

Ah, so the city itself is only a portion of it, I see. But even beyond that- that desert area…that’s the train line we saw in the game’s opening, that’s how we got to Reborn City. So Xera came from that city(?) in the desert before arriving in Reborn City, but…is that area where she’s actually from, or did she just come from there? And if so, where did she come from before then?

But anyways, what else…well, there’s a big building on the other side of the lake, which I’m guessing is Apophyll Academy, just like Victoria described. Beyond that, we’ve got the pointy evil red mountains near the Academy, the suspicious purple forest to the southeast, and the dangerously pointy mountains in the northeast! Fantastic.

Now what’s in the jukebox-

A h- yeah, I’m…not gonna be comprehending those file names any time soon, let’s just…leave that be for now.

And the Time and Weather app doesn’t seem to do much right now, so we’ll leave that alone too.

Are they talking about HMs? Don’t tell me this game is going to have those, we all know by now how much those suck! The stuff they do in the later games to change around how those work is a much-needed quality-of-life thing, I really hope this game doesn’t make HMs mandatory…

That’s an interesting way to get around trade evolutions. Personally, I like what they did in Legends Arceus with the Link Cable item. If I ever make my own fan game plans a reality, that’ll probably be how I do it.

And here's my review:

Ok, so first of all, I love fae. What's really funny is I hadn't heard the word until last year. I also love fairy tale retellings, especially Beauty and the Beast.

This was an awesome mix of Beauty and the Beast, fae, and The Selection. Like I said before, The Selection wasn't my cup of tea, but the idea was interesting.

I enjoyed listening to it very much! The characters were written well, and the plot was interesting!

The images I got while listening to this were beautiful! The author certainly knows how to paint a picture with words!

I also love listening to audio books that the author narrates themselves. That way I know I have the pronunciation of the names right! 😂

Now for triggers:

So, as said at the end of the blurb, this one is a bit steamy. She goes into a little more detail with the kissing than I'd like, (I prefer less tongue talk) when it gets to the other things, there is thankfully little to no detail. Like you know what's going on, but you don't get all the lovely pictures that come with it.

There is also quite a bit of swearing, which, as I've said before, I don't really mind, but I know some people do.

Also, once again, some people will find this the opposite of a trigger, but I'm putting it here anyway, there was a lesbian couple. No detail with them, they were just there.

I can't think of any other triggers, but I may have missed something. I'm not perfect!

So, in my opinion, this was a good book! If you don't mind a bit of steam which was really not graphic other than the tongues, I definitely recommend you check out this book. It was a lot of fun!

Well, the Sol POV fic is done... at a whopping 7.2k it's the longest one shot I've ever written, but I'll wait until Chaos's part is done to post it since some parts will make more sense afterwards (hopefully). Maybe it's just because my brain's fried after writing all day but Chaos's POV is giving me some trouble. Because like, it's Chaos, he knows everything about everything, but it's hard finding a balance between "all knowing" and "he hasn't interacted with humans in a while so he kinda forgot some stuff"

Anyway, how goes your own mer!Chaos fic? I'm very excited to see his point of view, you introduced some really interesting concepts in what little time we got to fully see him! Hope you're having a good day!

yuuuuuuuuup I know exactly what you are talking about, both with long writing and a fried brain resulting from it. great job completing Sol’s fic!!! I know it is very tiring to write all day, but it is also an accomplishment to finish it and have it clock in at that many words!!! goodness is editing hell for longer fics. istg editing fics takes longer than actually writing them. and you are not alone in having some trouble with Chaos’s POV!!

writing for me right now is kind of like juggling five casseroles just pulled out of the oven, my oven mitts are threadbare, and I also don’t know how to juggle. because my robovenom fic has been holding a gun to my head for two plus months now, and I only just finished that. not to mention the two I need to finish, the other five I need to work on, and a big fic. my hands and motivation can’t keep up with my brain smh

so, even if I haven’t made any progress with my mer!Chaos fic, I understand your struggles! writing him is hard because yeah, he knows everything, but how much human stuff does he know? what words, phrases, things, etc. etc. would he reasonably know, and what would he not? what does he think of humans and what we’ve built?

how I’m explaining all that on my end is pretty much through brain destruction, so I have it a LOT easier than you!! because of the flaming casserole dishes I am juggling atm, who knows when I’ll get to writing mer!Chaos’s POV, so in return I will give you a small list of what will vaguely happen!! :3

I initially planned on making a second chapter in Daryl’s POV, but the more I thought about it, the more fun (and easier) route to take would be doing Chaos’s POV!! also, I can really highlight the difference between Daryl’s underwater horror creature feature and Chaos’s visual novel romance. blablalba basically I don’t want to scrap all the ideas from that second chapter, so I might add them to Chaos’s POV! but who knows! not me! 

again, great job completing Sol’s fic!! I’m looking forward to see what you do with mer!Chaos, take as long as you need to iron out the kinks!!!

okay this is my final post here! im not one for self promotion so im going to dump absolutely everything into this post lol sorry its gonna be long!

basically the gist is im moving on to original content! ultimately same type of writing, same themes and kinks and what have you. ive basically compiled all my work from the past couple years (this project and others!) and am now revamping it into a final sort of iteration. because i still love writing, ive lost most interest in fandom to any degree. in the same type of way im not really one for social media either. nothing to do with anything in regards to this account though !! its more just the entire landscape, i wanted something i could have more control over. which is to say im moving everything to my own site!

all projects and drafts and art will be going up on [svnd14l.neocities.org] - im not much of a coder but i know enough to put together a simple little archive ^_^ i have different pages for different formats of stories + seperate, slightly more elaborate, pages for my bigger projects (stories that arent simply isolated to a single work but expands over art, short-comics, side stories, and other supplimentary aspects) - though most of those are still a work in progress. theres also a journal (though its mostly used for me talking and complaining about work haha) and an askbox feature!

unfortunately it is not mobile friendly to any degree and im not inclined to change that, at least not anywhere in the near future. so in the meantime im making a new tumblr account [@svnd14lled], not sure how active it will be or really what ill be putting up yet but its there for convience. i know a lot of the appeal of this blog hinged on short form writings and concepts but ill be trying to be a little more intentional which means a little slower in what i put out. very little is ‘finished’ and im still putting up mostly drafts but it should for the most part (hopefully) be better and longer!

soooo i guess thats really it haha i basically have nothing up yet but i got a lot to work on !!! ill list out some of those things under the cut. anyway i loved the time i spent here and i loved all the interactions ive had !!! peace and love !!!!

okay for the actuallly interesting part; as i sort of mentioned ive split my writing into two main categories. which is front-page stories and x projects.

front page stories are more isolated in concept, the draw is more for the plot and themes then attachment to the characters. not to say i dont care about the characters or theyre not fleshed out! (or that i dont get attached lol) its more just that theyre not gonna be expanded on in writing except for whats in the text. i might make some art or write some commentary but for the most part its one and done.

theyre seperated into categories based on format; oneshots, oneshot series, chaptered, chaptered series - and i basically cover all types of kinks. anything ive ever written on this blog features in at least one story. theres incest (sister/sister, mother/daughter, etc), bestiality, underage, intoxication, graphic violence and a whole lot more! the few i have listed up (not quite available to read yet as they need to be edited lol..) are just the ones ive finished drafting but theres a LOT to get through.

the second type of stories are my x projects! theyre much longer, much more complicated, and much more dear to my heart. theres only four of these but the way i treat them in a little more similar to what i was doing on this blog. though there is sort of a ‘main plot’ - it depends on the project and characters. theres still a lot to organize through cement into writing or art. as of right now only one page is ‘completed’ though with limited things to view! its a work in progress :) either way ill list out a general summary / dynamics.

WWW.JOYTOY.NET: the only page thats currently up and the only story thats currently really plot heavy. i have a strict timeline for them and theres only so much can be revealed or uploaded at a time, but theres a whole lot thatll happen!

without too much spoilers - joy is an intersex woman who was raised as a boy living in suburban boredom and hal is a man whos made a career in distributing illegal ‘movies’ with an aspiration to become a director himself - with the catch that hes not interested in having acting. the two of them meet in the summer of 1994 and decide to strike up a relationship. everything you could possibly think could happen, happens. all bases are covered and no limits are found. this story perfectly encapsulates itself; at a first glance its nothing but deprived torture porn, but if you read a little closer theres intention in every action.

basically its a lot! this one is very near and dear to my heart and ive put so much work into her. its gross, its graphic, its tragic - its joytoy baby!

THE ROSE CYCLE: a little less plot heavy and a little more self contained.

avaline was born into a wealthy and prestigous family with everything she could have wanted handed to her on a silver platter. her life was perfect until one day someone new is brought to their house. johanna - a girl who shares her age and face and now her life as its revealed that she is avalines bastard half-sister. spoiled as she is with unchecked anger issues, avaline lashes out and denounces their connection. at least thats how it always starts - because theyre stuck in a reincarnation cycle and these things never go as they think.

i say a little less plot heavy and this is the synopsis LOL well each cycle is sort of independent of eachother. connected of course but they function on their own. but we got the sister/sister co-dependency !! really nothing is as it seems with a heavy emphasis on unreliable narration.

DARLING CHILD: extremely heavy on relationships here. also featuring my favorite character <3 my darling caroline <3

caroline gets introduced to danny (who she promptly named as such because she very much loathed the name daniel and even more when she changed it to danielle) at a young age, and she never really goes away. theyre not lovers but they are something a lot worse; childhood friends and soulmates. it goes about the way as you would expect it, from children exploring themselves and their identities, to their school years as they expand horizons, to a seperation period as they go off to pursue respective interests, and all the way to coming back together as adults. theyre completely intertwined and its completely by choice.

this story hinges very much on character and character relationships. caroline is annoying, bratty, and childish - she refuses to grow up. danny is intelligent, snarky, and vindictive - she has a need for control. they work together a bit too well. the main story of this focuses on their adult years and how they finally settle into eachother with all of their history. theres a lot of age-play / regression, dom/sub dynamics, and pony play! caroline has always been quite fond of horsies.

PLAYING HOUSE: im gonna be honest, i have nearly a hundred pages of writing and have spent hours and hours poured into these characters and i dont know what the fuck is going on LMAO theyre getting a majorrrr and must needed revamp so who knows whats going on

the very basic plot of it; six siblings, one controlling, powerful, and rich mother, and a whole lot of incest. also aliens. sometimes.

anyway thats the sort of general run-down! of course this is very very basics of it, but itll take some time to get everything put together. im basically comitted to finishing these stories for the rest of forever now lol as much as i havent been entirely consistent, i ALWAYS circle back, but this is my long-term. if i ever get bored with one project of the bunch well i have fifty-billion others to get into lol

WIP Wednesday

Decided I'm gonna try to make this a weekly thing. Maybe it can get me motivated to add a little bit more more often than once every four months?

Sadly, no Ace Attorney update. I have so many ideas that I just can't seem to get anything on the page. I want to write a million things, and at this point, I don't have anything more concrete than a list of things like "I wanna write an amnesia story; I wanna write a really self-indulgent kink story; I wanna write a soulmate AU; I wanna write a fairytale AU; I wanna continue off this thing that this person abandoned seven years ago," etc. etc.

But I did work a little on the Loki story!

This is from further up. As the story progressed, I sort of started thinking of the reader character as a very "green" type of witch. I've been reading a lot about homesteading (it's just something I find interesting; I can't stomach killing things at all, so I can't actually homestead), and I've tentatively made notes about scenes starting with foraging for mushrooms (I've even looked up edible mushrooms that grow in New York State) and gathering eggs...so I had to go back and edit a bit. This scene involved groceries and canned goods originally. It's a light edit; I might make a bit more effort in the last passthrough. After all, you don't put eggs in the cabinet.

I did add a little to the scene I shared on Saturday, but not much. I got about 150 words in before I got stuck. I might need to delete what I did get anyway--it's probably as good a place as any to stick the Snap. It's not like Thanos was trying to be narratively considerate and make sure everyone had wrapped up their plot-relevant conversations before he killed 50% of life in the galaxy.

Hopefully more next week. Nothing's quite as encouraging for my writing as being forced to sit for an hour to two hours and listen to people give me "motivational speeches," after all.

Head Start at Birth - Chapters 1-10

This one popped up on MAL suddenly because the JP title begins with a "0." Always excited to read/watch something new for a change, but this looks kinda bottom tier. Not only is it an incredibly generic plot, but its adaptation is a short episodes anime 😬

ALSO, this manga is being sold in the west as chapters and in the Webtoon style? I'm old school and kinda hate this. Why can't I just buy volumes?

Ch. 1

Oof this is so generic. I'm trying to give it a chance but the cliches are too much. The art is...fine but not very memorable. At least it's in color.

The mom got over her 3 year old making land management recommendations waaaay too quickly.

Lilia was 30 when she got isekai'd so I guess I'm supposed to be the target audience here? I feel like if I was in her position I wouldn't be like "YEAH, LET'S LEVEL UP!" I'd be like "YEAH! A CHANCE TO BE A KID AGAIN AND GOOF OFF!"

I feel like they vaguely implied that the mom is an evil capitalist (monarchist?) since she won't give people tax relief. That could be something interesting to explore...

Ch. 2

Reslar (the dragon) sounds suspiciously close to Rizzler lol

They introduce 3 age appropriate boys and then she immediately falls for the older guy. I get that she has the mind of a 30 year old but it's still weird. They'll probably go the "he waits until she's older" route. Whatever -_-

I was pleased that Lilia's parents stayed on her side as she was slightly rude to the royals. Their loyalties are in the right place at least.

Why does every shoujo isekai gotta be fixated on otome games and villainesses? It's honestly so bizarre how keyword obsessed media is these days...

Ch. 3

Yeah so, this is a romance isekai where the MC is 5 and the love interest is 15 🙄 I get that it's kinda based on the olden days when engagements like that were normal due to political marriages, but still. We don't really need to be romanticizing this stuff nowadays, right? Especially when it's a fantasy world where everything's made up and the points don't matter. Oh well.

This situation reminds me of The Familiar of Zero when Louise had a much older fiancé. Although in that series I think it was kind of portrayed as a little creepy/unsettling. Wow never thought I'd be praising The Familiar of Zero as a more progressive option 😅

I do appreciate that the dad (Guy) is ride or die for his daughter, but the joke about him thinking she'd been raped was a little tasteless.

We have yet to see what the plot of this series is going to be. Is it going to follow the romance angle mainly or is it going to be more about Lilia's personal development?

Ch. 4

Lilia's mom looks a lot like she stepped out of Umineko no Naku Koro ni. It's probably just the cravat lol.

We learn about Elrich's tragic backstory (his parents were executed for treason). Unfortunately, it didn't really make him a more interesting character. I had hoped he'd have at least some sort of reaction to the engagement but he's pretty much just "bland perfect husbando" so far.

The sex fantasy was something I could have lived without. Straight to jail.

Hopefully we can get an Elrich chapter here and there to flesh him out. I don't care how much he looks like Lilia's fave otome game character.

Ch. 5

I was wary of the parents at first, but they seem to actually be really good parents? Also, Lilia's mom is super politically smart too (girl boss lol). I guess the doting dad thing is basically just a stock character, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Glad the spirits get to show some actually emotion for once (well, Reslar does anyways).

I do like that Lilia is more focused on her ambitions than Elrich. She just happens to also be really horny for Elrich lol (I'm sorry...that's how it's portrayed).

Okay, I'm kinda getting into this >_> it's just shoujo isekai brain rot basically but the art is so cute and it's been a long time since I've read a manga in full color

Dressing in your fiancé's color is so romantic ;w; (although I guess people don't always have signature colors irl lol).

The dynamic between mom and Lilia both being badass boss babes gives me Yor/Anya vibes because of the ages haha.

That gothic look with the princess curls was serving (werk)

Urgh my anime arch nemesis appears...head pats. I don't think they're cute at all, I think they're weird and demeaning. (Even if I was 5 years old I think I'd be like "get your hand off my head" lol). I still don't know if this is a thing Japanese people do IRL or not.

Lillia being instantly OP at everything she tries is pretty boring, this manga could use more conflict right about now.

Ch. 8

I like the princes' names (Isaac, Leonard, and Ferdinand). IDK if it would be better or worse if Lilia went for one of them instead. You can't win with rebirth scenarios lol

Ch. 9

Wtf, the spirits get ikemen versions? I can get on board with that actually. Some of my OCs are fantasy creatures with human versions actually...

Part 1 of Many. I'm sharing all of the art I've hardly shown to anyone all these years... Because people kept telling me to and I realized they're right.

This is some of the earliest art I've done on my iPad, all from June 2017... This is the hardest stuff for me to look at lmao 😭 Wide Cy is cursed... I have no idea what happened to Moko's hair... And please never bring up mid-life crisis Altair ever again. I'm being vulnerable right now 1st pic: I think the first thing I did when I got this iPad was start doodling people from Pinterest photos. I remember I was just trying to test the pen pressure and feel of everything. These sketches still hold up - I've always liked the blue lady especially.

2nd pic: I wasted no time getting into THR stuff. I don't know why exactly, but I always like to draw my characters in a sort of... clinical way? Like I'm an alien studying them and I've got them standing vacantly on a turntable, writing a profile about all their basic info. I guess we all kind of do that with fictional characters. It must have something to do with all those fan wikis I scoured as a kid... "Name, Age, Height, Weight, Gender, Aliases, Status, etc..." It's kinda creepy. Anyway, you'll see in the next pic that I start doing the height lineup thing.

3rd pic: Yeah... Cy is buff. That was just a thing back then. I was still adapting to digital color, and I think I was just having fun drawing directly on a screen for the first time.

4th pic: I had such an interest in glam-rock hair at the time, but I didn't really give them glam-rock clothing? All my characters look like their hair got eaten by a vacuum cleaner and released. Oh, Altair... if modern Altair could see this Altair... he would snatch the photo like "We do not speak of this."

5th pic: This is a character concept I did for a friend to help her visualize one of her characters, Adisa, who - if I remember correctly - worked in a graveyard and helped revived souls transition from death to a life of undeath. That was always a cool idea to me.

6th pic: Mokos. My bisexual is showing. She a cutie thoooo~~

7th pic: My husband said this one looks super kinky... lmao. Yeah... I was obsessed with burlesque at the time. When you grow up in a small midwestern town and your femininity is repressed, apparently you cope by imagining yourself as a yassified plague doctor.

8th pic: Heheheheh... If you know the Veluts - the alien species I designed that drive a good portion of my story's plot - you'll probably look at these noseless baboon people and not make the connection. Well, for me in 2017, this was a major advancement from the earliest version of the Veluts, who were then called the Sasahi, and were literally just Large Humans with elf ears and an addiction to body modifications. I realized at this point that they should be more distinct from humans, so the first baby step for me was giving them a slightly different evolutionary history.

I know this was all kind of self-deprecating, but I've been avoiding sharing my stuff for years because I am simply... shy. I have never been confident sharing my art, ever, in my life.
