I think Blitzwing really dislikes getting dirty (or being in a space that could get him dirty), when it's unnecessary? I mean, he'll do it, he doesn't mind or care on a mission or during a fight, but he doesn't enjoy it, and don't expect him to get grease on his frame otherwise.

like, any time he's in a situation where he's getting dirty or scuffed and it's not in a fight, Hothead or Random are usually the dominant response, quickly finding something else to focus on. Icy only responds to complain, because he certainly likes to complain. he gets kind of bitchy about it! (I get it. I don't like unnecessary dirt either. I didn't authorize that. I mean this affectionately, I enjoy when he's bitchy.)

I imagine if he willingly got into a mess (for fun, or cannibalism, or both) it would be fine, but eugh, he wasn't planning on Autobot gunk or Earth grime, no thank you.

His design is based around themes of cryptids (mothman specifically), eldritch horror, cults, and evil science and I’m very happy with the result! Under the cut will have the WIPS + the designs with my notes and choices (thank you to dadskall for being my brainstorming buddies on this hehe)

Option one: Jasnah is one of the most saintly, good-aligned characters in the main cast. She hasn't done anything bad offscreen ever, and that's why the only examples Taravangian had for her being a questionable person are "the lesson" and those times she almost killed her family members but then didn't. She's never done anything else wrong in her entire life.

Option two: During Taravangian's apotheosis, he broke the fourth wall and is now fully aware of the Stormlight Archive as a set of novels. As follows, he made a point to only include examples which the audience would already be familiar with. I really like this theory, because in this case we can also ascribe the book's shift to aggressively modern language to being a downstream metaphysical consequence of his initial ascension.

I know that after Downfall the perspective of 'the gods are a FAMILY' has permeated fandom on both sides of the kill-all-gods argument, but frankly that isn't all they are and acting as if it's suddenly their only motivation flattens both them as characters and the narrative they (and bells hells) are in.

The Wildmother and The Raven Queen didn't 'let' Lolth get away with nabbing Opal and killing Cyrus because she’s their sister. Come on man, we've already seen that the primes are plenty capable of opposing and fighting their siblings on the side of mortals (is the calamity a joke to you??). I'm not saying the primes aren’t capable of picking the lives of their betrayer siblings over mortals (downfall showed as much) but that's not what the situation with Opal and Lolth was about in the slightest.

They let Lolth 'get away with it' not because she’s family, but because this is the very rare instance of them not only having the same goal, but of them actively fighting for their lives. As far as we know that has only happened once before on Exandria, and that time they also entered a truce to defend themselves. The vast majority of the time, the primes picking their siblings over mortals won’t happen because mortals can’t actually threaten the gods (normally), making the 'they're family argument' a moot point. The primes won’t necessarily agree with Lolth's methods, but they won’t go throwing away both hers and their own champions in a meaningless struggle when they need all their strength to stop the fucking apocalypse.

i promise that i’m not trying to be negative or rain on anyone’s parade, but please please PLEASE put your mental health first and don’t create too many big expectations for this ep… they only gave ~45 minutes worth of screentime to work with, and there are SO MANY plots going on: we know from bts/stills that athena, hen, madney, buck, eddie, that dentist office call, AND the fire water are all dipping into that screentime…

that’s a LOT to cram into a single episode that implies that the episode will center mostly on the fire water/earthquake (and also if the KR rumors are true, then that means the pacing won’t be the greatest either- but as of rn that’s not actually confirmed so), especially after the past two seasons mainly centering an episode around two characters and a handful of calls; it’s not unheard of- like in earlier seasons- to have episodes that focus on the ensemble as a whole, but with those episodes, the focus isn’t on any singular plot point, and thus most aren’t necessarily dedicated to major character progression moments

again, i’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade here, i just know how detrimental it is for me to get my hopes up about something because everyone around me is taking something and running with it, only to get severely disappointed when it turns out things were just blown out of proportion, and I don’t want that to be the feeling that people are left with in case things don’t go the way everyone expects 💕

I feel like I'm going insane. I'm sure we're all tired of people shouting "media literacy" every five seconds, but like... Yeah, develop some media literacy, please.

I'm saying this as someone who doesn't usually like romance, despite being subjected to it in basically every piece of media. As someone who doesn't generally look for love stories. As someone who loved Buddie but didn't consider any serious possibility of it becoming canon before season 7/8, who refused to believe Buddie was truly happening until I couldn't deny it anymore: this episode is loud.

Please understand how narrative arcs work. How character arcs work. How character development works. How serial broadcast television works. Understand how writing works. Consider context; take the whole episode, the whole season, and the whole series into account instead of treating things like they exist in isolation.

I'm too tired to go through the step-by-step details of the episode to prove why these, "they said it on screen, therefore..." takes are shortsighted and ignorant; plenty of people have done that already.

But that episode, even if we do take it in isolation, is textbook. Do people really take everything characters say at face value? Do people not watch other character's reactions? Listen to what else is being said? Watch what is being shown? Consider the implications? Themes? Narrative devices?

Consider that maybe, just maybe, characters can be unreliable narrators, or believe something to be true only for that belief to change later. These things don't happen in one episode. There's such a thing as set-up, foreshadowing, the starting point of a plot. 911 is a serial drama, therefore it is going to have A) long-form story and character arcs, and B) drama.

Characters are not going to move in straight lines, or talk in therapy speak, or solve every problem in an hour. They are not always going to be right, or self-aware, or truthful, or rational. Direct dialogue does not equate to honest dialogue.

Also, saying, "well in real life, people do this, I do that, their feelings would be this, yadda yadda yadda" means nothing. Your experiences are not universal, and more importantly, this is a work of fiction. Realism is whatever the story says it is; it's going to do whatever creates the most dramatic, interesting, developmentally beneficial, or emotionally satisfying story. Whether you like that story or not is irrelevant to the fact that stories are not going to cater to all your expectations or real-world experiences.

To people pointing to Tim or the actor's interviews as "proof" they're shutting down Buddie: again, please understand how broadcast television works. They are not going to tell us everything that's going to happen before it happens. They are going to play the neutral zone, the "wait and see," the "will they/won't they." They are going to lie. That is television production 101. You can compare what they've said in the past with canon and list all the contradictions, misdirection, and twists you didn't see coming because they didn't spoil it for you. Watch the show. That is the canon.

They're also not catering to fandom--people they already know are devoted to the show, familiar with Buddie, and consistently tuning in. They're introducing the idea of Buddie to the general audience, people who likely haven't considered the possibility before. The GA has to see that Buddie is an option, so the show needs to manifest it as if it's a brand new concept. This episode pulled the pin on that grenade in a very obvious way; the idea that Buck could be in love with Eddie and that Eddie could not be straight has been planted. The next seed will be Eddie's feelings. Now the show needs to water it and let it grow.

One last thing. Been seeing a fair amount of hand-wringing and condescension over people interpreting this episode differently. As if this is some sort of "gotcha" for bad writing, baiting, or people being stupid. Listen, genuine complaints about this show's writing aside, different interpretations or inferences are completely normal. This isn't unique. That is how people interact with stories, through personal biases, experiences, emotions, and expectations. That isn't inherently a bad thing. It's totally fine to have your own views; media is all about interpretation.

However, it is also true that just because you have an interpretation, that doesn't make it true. Not all interpretations are equal in their validity, evidence, or warrants. The show has an intention, it has a story in mind. If you don't see it, sure, that could be a failure of the writing, but it could also very well be a failure of your analysis, especially when the show hasn't finished telling the story. Looking at one thing in isolation and forming your whole conclusion based around that makes for poor critique.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see who's right.

first off i want to say that mack has A LOT TO SAY about will. i had like 4 cards jump out of the deck during this question lol

oh god does mack think will is the best thing since sliced bread…..he’s the bees knees, the apple of his eye, his knight in shining armor (literally..pulled so many knight cards for this), etc.

will provides a sense of structure and control for mack. he sees will as a leader (his leader…) and feels will helps him in many different ways. he sees will as practical, reliable, focused and disciplined — all which mack very much admires. he feels will protects him and he’s thankful for this. alexa play daddy’s home by usher

mack thinks will is brave, energetic and a free-spirit. he loves will’s positive and easy-going attitude and how he lets difficult things or problems easily roll off his back. he finds these traits VERY admirable and attractive.

will helps him view the world and his own perspective differently and this inspires him. will’s enthusiasm and energy is contagious to him and it is easy for him to mirror.

with all of that said above, mack thinks will is soooo charming it makes me SICK. will makes mack giddy ASF. he makes him feel excited, passionate and extremely flirtatious. he finds him very attractive (closing my eyes and sighing loudly)

mack feels a sense of “this is how it should be” when he’s with will. like he is realizing what it means to be genuinely comfortable and this is what love should feel like. will is a safe place for him and he thinks they make a great team. he loves their easy domesticity.

mack feels that will heals him — will is comfort in itself to mack. he has a sense of childlike joy when he’s with will, and he feels sentimental and almost nostalgic for the memories he’s made with him (and will continue to make).

on a sadder note, mack does feel a bit burdened by his feelings for will based on outside circumstances. he feels there is a weight of responsibility that comes with his feelings.*

in summary: mack loves that sexy charming emotionally regulated man and he wants that cookie so effing bad 24/7

how does will feel about macklin?

oh man does will’s pieces lover boy ass really come through on this…

mack gives will hope…he finds him healing. he makes will feel like a whole new person. he thinks mack is a star in every sense, and he finds strength in him.

i fr cannot emphasize enough how incredibly lucky will feels to have mack by his side. he feels very hopeful for their future in all aspects.

both mack and will have been hurt by something in the past but they heal each other. together, they rekindle their hopes for the future. many tender feelings here 🥺

will feels his relationship with mack went from 0 to 1000 LOL. he’s a bit surprised by how fast everything has changed/grown.

will is incredibly protective of mack as a person, as well as his own feelings towards mack. he would fight a mf ASAP for mack, even when it is not fully warranted.

will sees mack as reliable, efficient, hardworking, and committed. he admires how hard mack has worked consistently to get where he is now and achieve his goals.

some other notes on their relationship:

- there is already-married-esque like bickering between them. mack always wants to be right (LOL) but will finds it easy to placate him (side eye……..)

- mack feels bored, stagnant and apathetic without will. there is a repressed, simmering passive form of jealousy from mack’s side. however, these two notes alluded by the cards suggested these are time-specific feelings. (is will with other people rn? he’s already feeling the off-season woes? lol)

- mack thinks will has a big dick? 💀 Please why are yall telling me this….

- both mack and will feel they are “old friends”. i’m not entirely sure what this means and the context of this in the cards is vague…old friends as in someone they’ve just been aware of for years? or are they feeling uwu whimsical romance and think they’re soulmates?

- will thinks mack is a bit immature, lazy and unmotivated but not in a career sense. cards seemed to note this is more on a domestic basis (re: mack being a homebody lol)

- they are very physically affectionate

why does mack feel burdened by his feelings for will?

his dad :/ …..good ol’ Sheriff Rick at the scene of the crime. essentially, his dad is worried mack’s feelings for will may hinder his career and distract him from everything he’s worked hard for.

however, i would like to note that these feelings are not so deep/harrowing. mack feels will gives him strength and that they both have confidence in their partnership.

final notes:

during this reading and based on all cards pulled, i feel this is a relatively newly established relationship, but has been steady for sometime. their relationship is full of respect and tenderness, and is much softer than what is seen on the surface 🥲

I've been following @druidposting's DR2 playthrough on discord and we just had a really good discussion about DR's Closing Arguments. Specifically the way the murderer is depicted as grey and featureless, which until now I found a bit annoying.

In Danganronpa it's repeatedly the case that we don't have the full picture until the talking actually stops- which always goes beyond the end of the trial. We generally vote first and come to understand what the murderer's actual motive was, sometimes filling in important pieces of the timeline in the process, afterwards.

But none of that matters for the killing game because characters' emotions aren't directly relevant to who was the 'blackened'- the only thing that matters to Monokuma- so it comes out afterwards and does nothing to change their execution. It doesn't matter how sympathetic they are (basically everyone) or whether other people share responsibility for the situation (eg. Hanamura, Pekoyama, Momota) or whether they intended to murder at all (Nanami). They objectively pulled the trigger and nothing else matters. Nothing about them as a person matters.

The Closing Argument mechanic might illustrate that problem- literally. They're a dramatic, conclusive summary of the entire case... constructed before the vote even happens, before we know if we're actually right, and they're missing something really important:

The actual perpetrator.

We quite literally don't even begin to see the real person behind the crime, any real exploration of their mental state, anything besides the cold, hard facts of the murder that are necessary to convict them, until the comic finishes and the protagonist makes their final accusation- replacing the grey figure with their real appearance in a shot that's often intensely emotional.

And these comics lack crucial parts of the case's timeline and sometimes important parts of the very scenes they depict that we only find out about afterwards. And those are what we know; characters may die with some pieces of the truth and prevent us from ever learning them. These aren't objective depictions of the murder, they're the protagonist's subjective attempt to connect the facts they have. A join-the-dots portrait of someone with missing dots and no colour.

Even characters' expressions may not match how they truly feel, with the grey placeholder potentially looking way more confident and sinister than they were in reality. Pasting Falter's commentary here since they put it well.

For obvious reasons this could especially be a problem for characters that die before the trial- the ones we never get a post-vote testimony from. DR1 chapter 4 really highlighted that in the way Asahina's huge misinterpretation of Oogami's feelings took up a lot of the post-trial discussion, only for Monokuma to reveal Oogami's real suicide note and recontextualise everything.

It might really be a problem for how Komaeda's depicted in DR2 chapter 5. While he isn't greyed out, we get panel after panel where he's either level-headed or maniacally evil, and even the depictions of his self-torture and death don't humanise him:

But we know that his real feelings were more complicated than that. We have his actual corpse to compare the last page to.

He died afraid.

If we approach the comic as Hinata's mental image of him instead of reality, he died without anyone truly understanding him. He was alarming, very hard to relate to, actively fought against people doing so, ensured even the killer didn't watch him die, and the survivors couldn't begin to understand his motive until a chapter later. The Closing Argument reflects that.

Early in DR1 Togami calls out the rest of his class for judging others by their own standards. However, he, too, is doing this, maybe more so than many other characters; his inability to view other people through anything but the cold, brutal logic of the killing game bites him in the ass in chapter 4. In DR2 chapter 2 voting without a good understanding of Pekoyama's motive or Kuzuryuu's involvement nearly got everyone killed. Komaeda's a walking embodiment of the problems with flattening people into caricatures and not empathising with them, suffered from people doing that back to him, and his case- the Closing Argument for which turned everyone else into grey placeholders- was impossible to solve with objective facts. It was only survivable because the survivors cooperated and one person tried to analyse things the way he would.

The games have always been a critique of the justice system and Japanese society and push us to care about others as individuals, not reduce them to- and judge their right to exist by- something they've done or their net impact on society. There are always consequences when someone neglects to do that, and the above might be yet another way the games explore that theme.

I feel like, in a post-construct scenario where the Voices have more access to food, Hunted would treat food differently from the others until he stops existing in a constant 'survival mode' and relaxes.

For a while, I went back and forth on a few different extremes, many at odds with each other: Maybe Hunted doesn't eat very often because eating takes energy and makes him feel sluggish, maybe he eats a lot because he's terrified of the food no longer being available in the future, maybe he eats too many carb-heavy foods for extra energy to be stored as fat, maybe his diet consists of whatever he can find first and he doesn't get enough of specific nutrients because of that, maybe, maybe, maybe.

I couldn't decide on anything, I was just certain that Hunted, being animal-based survival instincts, would treat food differently from the others.

Then I remembered the Embrace Instinct ending in Den.

I eventually decided that Hunted would eat a lot in a short amount of time, just little enough that he wouldn't get sick, and then not eat for a while, maybe a day or two.

The others do end up catching on and helping him out, though, so eventually, Hunted heals just that much more.

1984, is the first time Neil Gaiman released a book. 

In 1985, he got married and started his career as a comic book writer and in 1986, he assaulted Julia Hobsbawm.

This took place in Chalk Farm, London, where he forcibly kissed her and shoved her down on the sofa at her own studio flat before she escaped. According to The Crown Prosecution Service, “sexual assault is where one person intentionally touches another person sexually without their consent. The touching can be done with any part of the body or with an object.” In her own words, she described it as “an aggressive, unwanted pass” and that she still remembers it even now. 

Through 1987 and 2002 he progressed his career and published the famous book Coraline. A new year happens and he is in his early-forties and is thriving off of the success of his several money-making works, at a book signing event in Sarasota, Florida. There he hits it off with a young 18 year old (K) and they start dating. Two years later, in 2005, with two more awards under his belt, he forcibly penetrated that young twenty year old who told him not to because of a painful infection.

After another two years, he and his first wife divorced.

It's 2012, five years later and one year into a new marriage and at another book signing, Neil, age 52, immediately assaulted Claire (pseudonym) with a non-consensual kiss. Throughout keeping contact Neil had escalated this with video and phone calls that had a heavy sexual connotation where he appeared to either be naked or tried to instigate something. All of this accumulated into sexually assaulting her on a tour bus. Neil’s contact with her lasted until 2014 where he had promptly accused her in a text message that she had used him for sex.

Within the same year, Neil had enough money to buy a property, and met Caroline Wallner, 55, and her at-the time current husband. With a deal to do odd jobs for Neil and his wife to live there until she could own a five-acre plot, it wasn’t long before things turned sour. A divorce in 2017 sent everything spiraling, with her former husband fired, she in a once financially stable position, was now completely dependent on Neil Gaiman who used that to his advantage. Using her lack of financial stability to get himself sexual favors, he coerced her into a sexual-only, notably uninformed BDSM-entering territory while she was emotionally vulnerable, not accepting denials. This lasted until the summer of 2021, and in December of that year she and him went to court, what awaited her was $275k of compensation and a non-disclosure agreement (nda).

It wouldn’t take long for another woman to experience Neil Gaiman’s repeated offenses as well because in February of 2022, Scarlett (a pseudonym), age 23, a newly hired nanny, was sexually assaulted in the bathtub at his house. Neil, age 61, climbed into the bathtub with her and coerced her into having sexual relations. He too, in his coercion of her, made her financially dependent on him and brought BDSM elements to an inexperienced young woman who could not say no.

Since July 3rd of this year, 2024, five women have come out with sexual assault allegations aimed at Neil Gaiman. They all have several things in common with each other: either being young and naive, a fan of his, or put in a vulnerable spot financially or emotionally. Throughout the years and according to the stories, Neil progressively gets more bold and aggressive in his attempts for sexual gain. There are many more stories out there and whispers on the internet of how predatory Neil Gaiman has been in the industry. However, focusing on the five women who came out to speak and pushing their voice is an important part of the discussion.

Staying silent will only protect his peace.

Les Mis deck of cards concept <3

It's criminal that there are no playing cards with Les Mis character illustrations. So, here's my concept on assigning characters to each card!

Originally it was only supposed to be the figure cards but it got out of control. Bless the amount of side characters in that book.
