everyone likes to talk big about that one scene in mgs2 that very profoundly predicted a lot of things about the internet and misinformation but nearly NO ONE wants to talk about the scenes proceeding it in which snake says “We need to let our children read our messy and sad history by its light. We have all the magic of the digital age to do that with.” yes the internet has the capability of bending the truth but it also has the capability of doing the opposite! it’s our job to keep it fixed!!!! you can’t just immediately give up and say “wow. so true that’s just how things are. ah well” you gotta BUILD that shit!!! BUILDING THE FUTURE AND KEEPING THE PAST ALIVE ARE THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!

people are hating on klck so hard and she’s totally wrong but like yall forget she’s literally a child of course she’s going to be wrong.
imagine you are a teenager (famous for being the time where people are desperately trying to be different and special for the sake of having an identity) and your parents are normal like accounting people and you go to the Aguefort Adventuring Academy (made for the Specialest Kids) and in your freshman year these six kids who are respectively the son of the richest most insane dude within 1000 square miles, a tiefling girl whose dad is an archdevil, kid whose dad was killed by a dragon and has a biological link to most of the mysteries he solves, the literal Elven Oracle, Chosen One of a god (and one pretty much normal guy, but look at the rest of the roster). of course you think theyre set up for success, because you are woefully mundane and they so clearly have everything figured out. theyre apparently so strong they fight a dragon at 15 years old (which the principal brought himself back from the dead for? because he also COMMITTED MURDER-SUICIDE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL SO THAT TWO OF THEM COULD LIVE???) while the rest of the freshmen stay in the far-haven woods. your adventuring party, the high-five heroes, is nice, and Lucy Frostblade is your best friend- she seems to think of you as one-in-a-billion, which you tell yourself is true. still, you see cracks- oisin and ivy would pick each other over the party any day, ruben votes against you because he knows youre upset about it, and mary ann is. there. then on your first real adventure out in the mountains, you are given a chaperone because you apparently can't handle yourselves- and you die anyway. rage brings you and most of your party back. lucy, however, stays dead, and you cant help but wonder if you simply werent special enough for her to get up again.

i have a question. i'm making a deck based around hard choices. rakdos, patron of chaos as the commander, with cards like browbeat, vexing devil, choice of damnations, etc. do you think that playing against a deck like that would be completely miserable or would it be fine?
for me personally: i think that sounds like a really engaging and fun deck. as a red lover, magic is most fun when im playing on a knifes edge and carefully managing resources, so id love to sit across from this deck. those key cards you named are p low power tho, esp browbeat, so the only real concern is making sure you can close games
if you have a pod: nothing here feels like something you would have to ask "permission" for, but if youre really worried you would have to ask them directly
if youre just playing at your lgs: its legal, isnt it? youre all showing up to play a format that you each know and accept the rules of, and thats literally all you need to agree on. you cant please everyone, and you shouldnt try to at the expense of your fun. you made your deck with your money with the intent of having fun. if someone lets vexing devil stop them from having fun, thats not on you. magic is way too expensive to build a deck around someone else's fun

nothing worse than spending hours proofreading someone's story, only for them to decide to take 0.1% of my advice. it's like, that's your right as an author, yes, but if you're going to waste my time like that, why did you even ask for a beta in the first place?

There’s something so strange about starting to hate a ship I adore bc of its popularity. I’m usually at worst uninterested in ships but I’m growing an actual tangible hatred, it’s so odd.

Answer: "Oh... I can talk with toki pona. It's just that I'm not good. I want to get better!"

do you guys ever think about how fives is the only clone- and in fact perhaps the only non force-sensitive character- to get multiple story arcs focused specifically on him or are you normal

I wanna make it clear that I think being child free is totally fine but if your response to someone grieving about their fertility problems is “you should just become child free!!”…that’s actually very tone deaf and I would highly suggest just Being Kind

*taps microphone* is this thing on? Okay…
🎤 THIS IS A REMINDER THAT ALL OF THE ROBINS ARE SMART, GENIUSES IN FACT. THEY ARE IN A FAMILY OF DETECTIVES. THATS LIKE THEIR WHOLE THING. ALL OF THE ROBINS (AND THE REST OF THE BATFAM TOO) ARE CLEVER, STRATEGIC, AND CAPABLE, NOT JUST TIM. (No hate to my boy Tim, though. I love Tim.) YES, EVEN THAT ONE. Thank you. 🎤

not to be controversial but i saw a post circling around about people sneaking vegan meat substitutes into meals that people with celiac disease, wheat allergy, or corn allergy may consume. and i'm gonna be real and say this: yes it is fucked up that that happened to you. nobody should be forced to eat something they don't want without their knowledge and the fact that people don't disclose allergen information when feeding guests is fucked up. however: this is absolutely not unique to vegans feeding people who eat meat. i don't want to deny anyone's experiences, especially since i don't have any food allergies and my restrictions are self-imposed. but personally i've had multiple experiences of people trying to feed me meat products that i don't eat to try to trick me into not being a vegetarian anymore. this absolutely happens across all dietary choices. it's fucked up but i honestly get kind of sick of this framing of vegans and vegetarians being uniquely self-righteous about food. like, my mom's paleo and she's WAY more annoying about it than any vegan i've ever encountered. and yes, food manufacturers in the US do a terrible job at making allergen information clear, but this is true for anything, not just vegan meat alternatives.

hot take but there are some people out there who don't fall into either the category of "transition surgery saved my life" OR "i regret getting transition surgery." i know its really easy and convenient to sort trans people into one of those two boxes for your trolley problems or whatever but it's actually a lot more complicated than that. hrt is a genetic grab bag--you're gonna have people who get zero traits they wanted and zero traits they hate, or youre going to get people with a little bit of both, or youre going to get people who dont like the changes that happened to their bodies but they don't regret or want to undo those changes either. gender affirming surgery runs the risk of complications and (depending on the surgery) hormonal changes that you may or may not have wanted or been equipped to deal with--and like before, that doesnt fall neatly into either the "love it" or the "hate it" box. some people want gender affirming surgery without it being related to a gender TRANSITION--gender affirming surgery and hrt are not just for trans people! moreover, depending on your body type some surgeries may not be POSSIBLE, and that also impacts "trans dissatisfaction" in a way that detransitioning/regretting specifically surgeries does not measure.
overall, it's a big fuckin' world out there. we're a big community with a lot of varied people who have varying opinions about their bodies. you can like some parts of your transition journey but hate others; you can feel totally neutral about it; you can even not UNDERSTAND how you feel about it, and all of those things are okay. and you can feel all of those things regardless of your gender identity. you can regret having surgery but still be trans, you can want/get surgery and be cis.....like i said, it's a big world out there and two neat little boxes just doesnt account for that! and it’s also not really a great thing to use people who regret having surgery as a way to point and go, "hey those people were WRONG about their bodies and that makes them bad people that we should throw under the bus while claiming that that supports trans rights."
that's all.
