Ponyboy decided to grab a few slips of paper while he was at it, maybe hoping to wake himself up. He was being babysat by one of Soda's coworkers, so it was the most he could do to distract himself.

Steve?

Baby???

Ponyboy sneered at the note, rolling his eyes.

He's at school. He only works a part-time, and since we've only got about a few weeks before he graduates he's tryna stick to it. Get finals done, all that stuff.

His dad's real demanding on him graduating, and him n' Soda made a bet for him to graduate. I dunno what the full bet was though. I just know Soda's got him under his arm about it.

(In my opinion, the guy could be just fine without any presents. Seems like he gets more than enough from this jar alone.)

But, he's probably gonna be here in about an hour or so. School's almost over. I'm only here because Darry won't let me go nowhere since I'm "sick."

Ponyboy put the paper back in the jar and stretched. His stomach growled in the same motion, making him frown.

He should've finished his breakfast before they left for work.
