Since I have the pictures ready now, I guess I could explain the Skeletwins version of Horrortale. Or, as I call it, Not-Quite-Horrortale.

So the story starts off as the same as Horrortale. Undyne becomes the Empress, the CORE breaks down, Alphys convinces Undyne to take Sans' eye (to my knowledge - I haven't read the comic), and of course, Undyne takes Sans' eye and leaves him with a gaping hole in his head and uses it to power the CORE.

However, here, there's a divergence. And that divergence is during Sans' confrontation with Alphys.

As far as I know, in the original story (which I have mixed feelings about, honestly), Sans destroys the CORE, takes back his eye and "lobotomises" Alphys (not a fan of that term). But here, Lento/Sans doesn't do that. He does lose his temper with her, but the most he does is destroy one of her machines or just a little bit of the CORE. It's not enough for it to be unrepairable, but it's enough to set the monsters back a bit. But he doesn't hurt Alphys, not physically. He basically lashes out at her, declares their friendship over and leaves, therefore giving Alphys a much bigger role in this version. Also, the famine does eventually get resolved because Sans doesn't destroy the CORE.

So the timeline diverged there. Now the story has two plots. One of them focuses on Alphys and Undyne, their relationship and their struggle trying to fix a broken kingdom, all while struggling with their internal conflicts and heavy guilt for everything they have done and will have to do. The other will focus on the twins, of course.

I don't have it all figured out, but I have this outline of getting Papyrus more involved in the story. After the incident, Sans and Papyrus continue to try and help Snowdin as best as they can, but Sans' head injury and resulting instability causes a lot of issues, which eventually culminates with him isolating himself to protect others from him in one of his more lucid moments. Papyrus, meanwhile, figures out what Undyne did to him and repeatedly confronts her, angry but at the same time desperate to convince her to stop doing whatever she's doing and hold on to their friendship. Of course, Papyrus doesn't want to give up on Undyne, because he's, well, Papyrus. But after a series of confrontations, Undyne snaps and outright attacks Papyrus, which inadvertently reveals that he also had the same energy Sans had in his eye. After that, Papyrus just... leaves and returns to Snowdin to focus on Sans and his town.

Meanwhile, Sans goes back and forth between talking to Toriel and isolating himself at home with Papyrus, only rarely appearing at Grillby's. One day, Toriel notices the toll his isolation and mental health problems are having on Sans and, relating heavily to this, invites him into the Ruins for a visit. One visit turns into two, then three, then ten... And eventually, Papyrus starts visiting her too. They bring her books from the library and talk about their lives, and Toriel teaches them about snails and talks about her past, and eventually, the three of them become a small family. It's not perfect, of course. They have their ups and downs, and Sans never truly becomes his old self again, but with time, they make it work, and they find happiness from it.

The twins also gain new outfits from Toriel, including a hat to cover Sans' wound! They even requested to have the Delta Rune on their clothes, so they kinda have their cute little family logo.

By the time Aliza falls down, Toriel and the twins are doing well for themselves, being each other's support systems. Over time, Sans becomes stable enough to help Snowdin again. Toriel invites the boys to live with her full-time but they refuse, not willing to just abandon Snowdin. Sans never fully forgives Alphys, but he makes peace with what happened, and Papyrus still doesn't want to give up on Undyne because he's Papyrus and Papyrus is awesome.

(Also, side note: I kinda see this running gag of Sans using his head hole for practical jokes after making peace with it. Like using himself as a teapot, or using it for storage, or even growing a flower inside his head. Leave it to him to see the funny side of things.)

When Aliza falls down, of course Toriel takes her in! But like all children, Aliza wants to go home. Toriel doesn't trust the rest of the underground (for very, VERY good reasons. Human sentiment quickly decreased and devolved into outright hatred during Undyne's reign, so the monsters would be a lot more aggressive and desperate to escape) so she calls upon the two monsters she can still trust, the twins, to personally take her to the barrier. Thus begins Not-So-Horrortale, where the twins basically join Aliza and help her out with silliness and horror all in one.

Ideas everywhere. Hehe. So, what do you think? Could you give me suggestions for Undyne and Alphys' part of the story? Could this possibly become its own thing entirely? Who knows? Have a wonderful life!

Two-Film Essay: How Twin Peaks: The Return (2017) and Magnolia (1999) Highlight the Intricacies of Human Connection

In this essay, I will be comparing Twin Peaks: The Return and Magnolia, two works that explore the intricacies of human connections and behaviors through large, interconnected casts of characters. Both pieces employ symbolism and elements of the supernatural to delve into the complex web of relationships and emotions that define their narratives. These films excel at immersing the viewer in the detailed, captivating worlds crafted by their directors, showcasing the profound interconnectedness of human lives.

Twin Peaks: The Return (2017) - First Two Episodes

In 2017, the third season of David Lynch's Twin Peaks was released. The above trailer is quite vague, but fans of the original two seasons will recognize many of the characters. This trailer is quite a teaser, enticing die-hard Twin Peaks fans to return to the show one final time.

“The return of Twin Peaks in 2017 came like a Taser shock to the “golden age of television,” overturning audience expectations for what Twin Peaks—and TV— could encompass, both in narrative and form.” - Aliza Ma, "Now It's Dark"

This behind-the-scenes documentary of the making of Twin Peaks: The Return is about 30 minutes long. It shows director David Lynch and many of the series’ original actors reuniting and working together again after such a long time. My favorite part is watching David Lynch explaining the scenes that he envisions in great detail. He and the actors discuss not only the characters actions, but the thoughts, feelings, and motives behind them.

Twin Peaks: The Return brought back much of the same cast as prior seasons over 25 years ago. But actors were not the only things returning to the screen.

In the third season, Twin Peaks: The Return, we are introduced to a talking tree called “The Arm.” The Arm traces back to prior seasons of the show. In the original series, “The Arm” was “The Man From Another Place.” This role was played by Michael J. Anderson. Due to many personal reasons, Anderson did not return to film Twin Peaks: The Return, and was replaced by the talking tree.

Another element seemingly brought back into this third season is the appearance of creamed corn. In season 3 Agent Cooper’s evil doppelganger is at a restaurant, and there appears to be corn on his plate. Creamed corn has had many appearances and references in previous seasons, as well as in the film Fire Walk With Me. It is called “garmonbozia,” and it is a symbol of pain and sorrow.

Twin Peaks was not the only thing returning in 2017. The Total Solar Eclipse of 2017 made it's own long awaited appearance after 38 years. Both Twin Peaks: The Return and the Total Solar Eclipse share a mysterious and surreal cosmic atmosphere. It had been a very long tine since the previous Total Solar Eclipse in the U.S., so this event felt unfamiliar, awe-inspiring, and almost supernatural to people who weren't sure what to expect. Likewise, these unfamiliar, mysterious and supernatural themes are also present in Twin Peaks: The Return, as well as a play of light vs dark, good vs. evil.

As we step away from the cosmic spectacle of the Total Solar Eclipse, we return to the narrative of Twin Peaks: The Return. The first two episodes of this third season are quite unconventional for television. For viewers who do not remember all of the details of the previous two seasons (as well as the film Fire Walk With me), these episodes will likely be quite confusing and difficult to follow. The show jumps around to different characters and strange situations that probably won't make sense to the average viewer. As I have only watched these first two episodes for this assignment, I anticipate the plot coming together by the end of the season. This is similar to Magnolia, the second film I watched for this assignment. Magnolia follows an array of characters and the events of their separate lives, with their connections pulling the plot together by the end of the film.

Magnolia (1999)

Magnolia was released in 1999. It was made with an estimated budget of $37 million, and has grossed over $48 million worldwide.

The trailer introduces each of the film’s many characters and their individual stories, and states “…this will all make sense, in the end.” The poster demonstrates their connectedness by portraying each character on a separate petal of a magnolia flower.

Like Twin Peaks: The Return, this film jumps around between scenes and characters frequently. Unlike Twin Peaks, Magnolia is much more of a conventional film. Although there is a lot going on in this film, it makes sense and it all comes together. Director Paul Thomas Anderson made sure that it would be relatively easy to follow despite the complicated nature of multiple main characters. Other conventional qualities include it's A-list cast, large budget, and fame of it's director Paul Thomas Anderson who had just seen huge success with his film Boogie Nights.

This seven-minute clip from the beginning of the film introduces each character, moving quickly from one to the next. The movie does not slow down from here. Aimee Mann’s song “One” is looped in the background for the duration of this sequence. If you pay close attention you will notice how each of these characters is connected, even if just loosely.

The film continues to follow all of it's main characters throughout their separate lives. The infamous frog scene is the event that each character experiences simultaneously, bringing the entire film together.  It is symbolic of a plague sent by a higher power, and impossible for any of the characters to ignore.

The above documentary about the making of Magnolia is over an hour long, but worth the watch if you’re a fan of the movie. It follows director Paul Thomas Anderson through many different aspects of creating this film, including the raining frogs scene.

In 1999, the year that this film was released, Americans were also paying attention to a real life drama involving multiple characters and their interconnected lives. President Bill Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998 for obstructing justice and lying under oath to a grand jury. These charges stemmed from an affair that he had with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. His impeachment trial took place during January and February of 1999, where he was ultimately acquitted of all charges.

In Magnolia, the intricate lives of its characters and their complex behaviors demonstrate themes of interconnectedness. Similarly, in Bill Clinton's impeachment and subsequent trial, themes of interconnectedness was prevalent among him and White House staff. This historical event also demonstrates how human nature and complex behaviors, both personally and professionally, can impact even high-status figures such as the President of the United States.

Twin Peaks: The Return and Magnolia both feature large casts and explore the intricate connections between their characters. Each uses symbolism and supernatural elements, such as the raining frog scene in Magnolia, though Twin Peaks delves much deeper into a surreal and symbolic supernatural realm. While Twin Peaks is known for its unconventional, complex narrative and cult following, Magnolia remains more conventional and accessible despite its intricate storyline. Both films excel at immersing the viewer in the detailed, captivating worlds crafted by their directors.

Description: 8 year old girl(s)? (potentially Frisks sister(s)? Or an orphan? They could both be twins? Orphans or not, I don't remember) another experiment towards immortality,l. The result is countless clones of her could be made retaining all her memories from each other. Every time she died she was simply brought back as a clone with memories.

Fate: Frisk talked to one of them into giving up and no longer listening to Adrian and hurting people, resulting in her death (Frisk didn't kill her, that was her own choice) the other was adopted by the Dreemurrs (probably)

Adrian Winston (Still exists in D&Htale, just different)

Description: Frisks bio dad, he also used Frisk for experiments, and was very neglectful towards them despite his showering them in gifts whenever he visited them.

Fate: he survives and life goes on(Frisk ignores his existence and he is, for some reason, mad about that)

Max:

Description: Adrian's assistant, up until Project1 kidnapped him and forced him to work for him

Fate: dies sacrificing himself in an attempt to stop Progect1 (the plan didn't work)

Aliza (in no relation to horrortale)

Maxs younger sister, max sent her away so she wasn't harmed by P1,yet she still fought to help and try to defeat P1

Fate: Adopted by the dreemurrs

Adrians current assistant (she is not in d&htale- she constantly enabled his behavior

Adrian's most promising experiment, Frisk was poked and prodded at, nearly killed on multiple occasions for the sake of "science." On their eighth birthday Adrian accidentally left Frisks window open resulting in them running away to the mountain. When Frisk fell into the underground they lost all their memories from the surface, and plenty of the story is just about them getting their memories back.

Frisks right arm turns black as a result of Charas hatred. (No longer the case in D&Htale)

For some reason in the very original original version of this story, Frisk somehow befriended error, or something, it was weird. (Its probably because they were considerably immortal)

Fragmented souls: also used to creat clones but is a bit more dangerous as it puts limitations on the amount. Used to also connect different people together as a form if communication between specific individuals

Papyrus dies, but Chara brings him back to life so Sans, in their words, " doesn't throw a hissy fit."

This also seems like a very strange turn and not just that, but a whole... What's the word... Dismissal??? (Sorry english isn't my first language) Of Horrortales story as a whole in general? Like for starters, Aliza being Sans' "dad" was a whole plot point that I was kind of excited for to see more of. But with these artworks that plot point seems reminiscent of... And I don't wanna be reminded of it again...

This just in folks, Horrortale’s creator Sour Apple Studios caught not only proshipping BUT making suggestive art of an original character WHO IS A MINOR

June 1st, the pride month before the fall, the patron unveiled this here post featuring not only Aliza’s rear end as front and center but said rear end being on Sans Horrortale’s lap. Thats right, the creator is stepping above and beyond in “what the fuck”age by not only inventing a minor character but making self-described mature art about them.

hi there! i actually did have a fic planned out in which all of my ocs would play some sort of role as it bounced around different povs. however, i was once again struck with severe writer's block before i could really get anywhere with it. moreover, all of my ocs exist in the same universe but i will do my best to describe a bit of the timeline under the cut based on the occurrences of the series so far.

110 AC [episode 1]:

You'll probably see this when you wake up, but I feel like I should give my side of the story, since me swapping out Kousei for Rebecca was the 'catalyst' for the deletion of remembrance. No matter what, I still feel partially responsible for it, so I just want to clear things up, mostly Aliza's name

When you first brought up the love triangle, I was not annoyed in the slightest by it. I thought it would make for an interesting plot, and I was actually looking forward more to remembrance. While I grew a little more annoyed when the idea was 'fleshed out more', it wasn't towards ANYTHING you said at all. It was solely the mischaracterization of Kousei (Saying he would fight Yuraih when he's been canonically explained as a VERY patient person and would even give Aliza away if Yuraih wanted her so badly) and Yuraih's ingame personality. Aliza, you said nothing wrong, and the love triangle wasn't even anything bad. There's a 'love triangle' between me and two mooties involving Daisuke and their OC's, and we worked out, laughed, and had fun planning the possibilities. It's not the love triangle that bothered me, and even when I felt a little frustrated, I was nowhere near removing Kousei from remembrance

What broke the camel's back for me was an anon that said NOTHING related to the love triangle at all. It was from an ongoing anon hate problem I had involving an OC that wasn't even in remembrance. While I can usually tolerate this sort of thing, I didn't want to create more problems, that weren't even my fault to begin with, and thought the love triangle would cause more stress to my already hate-filled inbox

I won't apologize, cause it was more my mental health at the end of the day, but it had nothing to do with what you said, and everything to do with shitty anons like that person

In a heat of rage Satan leaves the dinner table and speed walks to his room.

Aliza: "But Lucifer.....Satan was telling the truth, so you don't have to get mad..."

Lucifer: "I know that Aliza, but he should of known better now I have pay for the damages for RAD, now if you need anything I'll be it my office."

right after that Lucifer head to his office, leaving everyone at the table sitting there in silence.

Mammon: "....."

Asmodeus: "...."

I was told I should take the high road. I should just accept that Hillary refuses to speak with me again. I shouldn’t expect answers from someone who won’t give them - has never given them. At the same time, I don’t feel like I can genuinely let this go without talking about it in a format that isn’t DMs.

This is really long, sorry? But I wanted to get all of it out because I want to be free of it, I don’t want it to keep being an ache in my heart whenever I think about it. 

tl;dr at the end. Feel free to reply, idc, I’ll get back to it tomorrow.  

I met Hillary in a group called @/heroesrpg in about 2012. While I was there, I operated under two pseudonyms: Miranda/Isa and Bea. The why for that is a long story. I have nothing negative to say about Hillary here! She was a great friend who taught me a lot about writing and challenged me to become a better writer. I don’t think I would have gotten this far without writing with her. When I left heroes in about 2013, we didn’t keep in touch. I didn’t really stay in the RP world so I didn’t pay attention to it.

In 2014, I was invited to join Ashbourne at her behest. I don’t recall the specifics of how I found it, I think it was simply me reaching out to her again and finding out she was in a group which she invited me to join, too. I ended up playing a woman named Nadeya Khan who was in a ship with her that was later discarded. Later I picked up Shiloh Morgan, the best friend of her character, Adam, and later Mira Lowell, the elder sister of her character Meyer.

I won’t lie, these dynamics were a lot of fun and I enjoyed playing them.

I was upset that my ship with Nadeya and Adam was discarded (I have a distaste for Adam and the FC Ben/edict Cumberba/tch now, I’m petty, sue me), but I think it was more sucky when all threads with them trickled to a halt. To me, it felt like my character was no longer important because it wasn’t a ship, even if a friendship dynamic would have been just as interesting. I ignored this feeling.

I was sad to leave the group, but I was uncomfortable with an interaction from another player and feeling pushed aside in favor of other ships so I made the decision to leave.

I did keep in touch with Hillary, or I attempted to, but once we were no longer in a group together, we just sorta drifted. We didn’t talk for the longest time here and I forgot her url for a long time. Frankly, I’m not sure how I found it again!

We started interacting again in about September 2018 when I think I reached out to her. This eventually ended with the creation of @lethe-rpg where we could write about old time favorite characters - and we wrote so much in Lethe’s run. Everything from romances, to long-lost parent, to siblings, to best friends, to unrequited loves. We wrote nearly twenty characters each and over ten ships in the time Lethe ran from September/October 2018 to June 2020 when it closed. Or, I should say, we wrote all of these things in theory and a lot of it happened behind the scenes in DM’s between us. When we did write things, they would frequently reach only a reply or two before we had to move onto the next one because she didn’t want to finish the one before. I’ll fully admit that I found this frustrating after a while - but I found it difficult to say no to her about anything, or to speak out against her.

Not only was she my friend, but I very much looked up to her. I considered her a mentor as much as a friend, and her approval meant a lot to me. It meant agreeing with dynamics I didn’t enjoy

pushing for a ship between my character Wesley and ANY of hers. Even if it was already mentioned to her that I had an ongoing connection with another character. If I tried to make this dynamic a friendly connection instead, it was promptly dropped altogether.

trying to get a ship between Gemma and Nate when I mentioned point blank that I didn’t want a pre-planned romantic thing with him after his other one failed.

the fact that Gemma and Lily didn’t get like any interactions completed together until I relented a little on Gemma/Nate. Any mention of them was largely forgotten. Half the time, Lily was treated like a child who hadn’t experienced any pain. Not just from Gemma, but from Gabe and from Hillary herself, who seemed to think that my young FC meant nothing compared to the history I had written for this character. Lily in general was ignored until she brought Lachlan along and prodded him into a ship with Lily. Do you know how many starters I wrote on Lily that were ignored?

the fact that Pat/Kate were the oldest ship in the group but they had like one completed thread the entire time lol.

the fact that Odette/Kate were the oldest family dynamic in the group who had like three NOTES between them.

the fact that Odette/Orion became a ship later who were just... never written. I can be honest now, I found them boring and I’m wondering if she felt the same, or if the lack of writing made me dislike them. Either way, Orion became a drain on my Odette muse, just as the lack of Kate/Odette was.

most stuff with Odette makes me sad. I feel like I had really good connections for her that... didn’t work out, and maybe I took to long to address it.

Mira/Andreas is a dynamic I blame myself on. I did feel sorta like I wasn’t getting anything written with her old ship, and I think me and the mun were drained on it, so while Mira was on hiatus and the mun for her last ship, Clark, was debating letting him go/killing him off, I didn’t mind discussing a new ship. I wanted this ship to be a slow burn, I wanted proper closer on the last one because it was a good ship and the mun is a good friend. This was handled with so little tact on her part, we were instantly hitting ship dynamics from the beginning and I found it callous. I dragged out replies just to avoid it. A shame, because I loved the dynamic, but the way it was handled put a bad taste in my mouth

she wanted an August/Delilah ship? Which I didn’t really want, but she’s really good at convincing you bit by bit that it’s a great idea. When I finally jumped onto this ship and flung myself into it, we got like two notes into it and nothing. Are you seeing the theme yet?

I got nothing against Arthur/Cora because I loved writing them, the only thing I did dislike is how rushed they were and how little I got to explore some of the Riverborn aspects of Arthur’s story with Cora. Also a pregnancy happened hella fast.

But I did have something against the Meadowes dynamic altogether: we had so many pieces of it to use that were never written. I failed sometimes on my part, but a lot of it was Hillary getting easily distracted by something else. Cora/Faolan were rarely written beyond the first reply to a thread. Gabe/Faolan were often two notes in and done. Faolan/Alistair lasted a bit longer, I was impressed. Gemma/Lily was mentioned above, but I’ll also mention how often she tried to take pieces of Faolan’s history and twist it to be her character’s pain without any consideration to previously discussed lore or connections. It wasn’t even about a connection anymore - it was about making her character the focal point. Look at how the Daniel Bisset, Aurelie, and Gabe things turned out: half of the plots were twisted to benefit Gabe’s momentum in the story, and the pieces of angst that should rightly lingered on Aurelie were shifted to the side. I didn’t even write that ship, and sometimes looking at them made me feel like a discarded sweater, but they were cute. Anyhow, this is long, moving on.

Faolan/Saby. I literally almost forgot about them, but like... Legit, I’m glad this ship ended because Saby was wholly too dependent on Faolan’s feelings for her, which he couldn’t even acknowledge because he was still in love with his two centuries deceased wife. Was this handled gracefully, did we get to slow-burn some of their stuff in writing? Sometimes. But again, they weren’t really written, and the ship was pushed and pushed, even when I wasn’t really interested in writing it because I didn’t want a ship for him yet.

Aliza/Tien was twisted out of me piece by piece, prodding at the parts of the Aliza/James connection I found uncomfortable (like the murder, like how difficult it was to plot after a point) until Tien seemed like the best answer. This was late enough into Lethe that I woke up enough to cut the ship off and drop the dynamic. In hindsight, I regret letting this even get so far.

Jonas. Just... most of the things written with him lol because he was constantly pushed onto my characters and others. Jo was hinted as a thing, Wesley was hinted as a thing, I think Nate was at one time. It definitely opened my eyes to the fact that she wanted a ship and that dynamics outside of that were largely ignored.

Do you know what it was like to put your heart into a character / story that was ignored ENTIRELY because she didn’t ship with them? Do you know what its like to be excited about a friendship or sibling or parental dynamic that... stopped getting written because your friend only wrote the character for a ship and the next shiny thing attracted her attention and instead of letting the character go, she made you think the next reply was right around the corner? Do you know how many threads we wrote that didn’t go anywhere, and how thrilled I was to write them still because I thought each time it would be different?

TL;DR: if it wasn’t a ship dynamic, it wasn’t written. If it was a ship dynamic, it was sometimes written. If you weren’t doing any of those things, you were ignored.

TL;DR 2: Do not misread this, please. I understand that RL comes first, I understand that dynamics change, that you’re allowed to change your mind. But do you realize how often I was strung along, or how often I was shoved aside? How hard it was to keep a character going sometimes because their big connection was only important for about a week?

when we wrote a ship between Selene/Gabe which was later discarded for a ship with Aurelie which had a much better chemistry, but was handled with little tact for my own feelings as I received constant updates on how their ship progressed, and also how the friendship we developed between Selene and Gabe was just dropped altogether - as it was with Adam/Nadeya so many years ago - instead of revamped to fit a changed dynamic as we discussed ooc.

like the fact that I became an admin in Lethe to help her out and eventually the burdens of handling it were on my shoulders. I don’t mind this, but when it came to asking her for help on simple matters (sending me the psd for banners when I switched computers and no longer had it, posting a bio, skimming a post so I could verify it was okay to post, plotting out future events, posting unfollows/follows for people) or asking if she could write something from an admin post, getting a “sure! I’ll do that later!” and then finding out it wasn’t done for a week until I sucked it up and did it myself. We addressed this eventually, but Lethe ended shortly afterwards. 

So. That’s how the last two years have gone, and lord knows how much I’ve forgotten. Hillary and I wrote so much over the last two years, and we definitely grew close. I thought we were beyond just writing friends, that we might have been real friends (after all, we sent christmas/birthday gifts to each other. Hell, I still use the mouse pad she gave me).

I ignored the way she ignored me if we weren’t writing something interesting. I ignored the way she didn’t care about my characters even passively until I shipped with her in some form. I ignored how it felt when entire sections of a back and forth DM was ignored if she didn’t care about the character. I ignored how she refused to write with other people because she disliked their FC, or she didn’t want to write with the mun, or she found the character boring. Half the time, she found a character boring because she didn’t bother learning about them, and the moment she did read about them, they were intriguing. I ignored how she belittled my other ships with other players because “oh I don’t think they click” or “imo that one is boring” or tried to poach those characters to one of her ships. I ignored how she made me feel like a part-time friend sometimes and her best friend other times. 

I ignored the way she didn’t help with admin problems even when she knew admin duties were taking a toll on me as people demanded more and more from me. Not even when we discussed ways to handle things on both our parts to make it easier and promptly ignored them the first chance she got.

She made me feel so important when we would headcanon things. It felt like my characters were important, and that I was a good writer with clever ideas and intriguing characters, and that writing her was reaching a pinnacle that others couldn’t reach. She never said this, I’ll give her credit for that, but I have to admit, I felt like my characters didn’t work out unless I had a connection with her.

The last few months were eye opening. I had already spent the last year frustrating from her lack of leadership as an admin, and anger for the way she ignored people’s feelings even when it was pointed out and gave the bare minimum when interacting with other people, and sadness for the fun dynamics we had discussed but never wrote beyond the posted biography. When Lethe ended, I was ready to let it go and move on, I said my peace about my admin things and letting the characters go meant a fresh start. To me, we were friends REGARDLESS OF BEING IN A GROUP TOGETHER OR WRITING TOGETHER. You don’t talk about ooc things and ic things as much as we did only to stop talking the instant you’re done writing together, right?

Wrong. She didn’t even help us close the group that she created, or helped us discuss things with members who weren’t sure what was happening. I gave her time, just short messages about random things because I wanted her to know that I didn’t hold Lethe’s end against her, that we were friends anyway. Those messages were ignored. I gave her more time and then after nearly a month or maybe two, I finally messaged her on tumblr with a brief snippet on how thankful I was to know her because she helped me as a writer, and apologized if I implied Lethe ending was her fault (which I still agree that it wasn’t entirely, it was a situation handled callously and frankly I still think people should have considered that Hillary was barely 3% of the admin team at the time since Ally and I were shouldering the burdens of everything else). I mentioned how I felt like our friendship was being ignored because we weren’t writing together, and how I had thought after nearly two years of talking that we were friends enough to chat once in a while at least, but if we are only RP friends, let me know so at least I don’t have to fucking think about it.

Do you think that got a response?

It didn’t. She didn’t log into discord to chat about it or something else, she didn’t respond to the message, nothing. She quietly unfollowed me and then blocked me. She unfriended me on facebook, I feel like that’s answer enough.

I’ve known her at least eight years and while some of those times were brief, the last two years were most certainly not. And not only does it make me angry that I’ll never know whether she just dislikes me, or whether I made her uncomfortable, or what, I’m also just... really upset that I lost an eight year friendship. There’s only one person I know longer than her and I had hoped that, if not real friends, then we would still be able to meet up in another group together someday. Now it’ll never happen again, and it devastates me. I can count my friends on one hand and I thought, you know, that she was one of them. It feels like a physical blow whenever something comes up on the dash that involves her. I feel so stupid for thinking we were friends when she showed me her priorities in Ashbourne, when she showed me in little pieces here and there throughout Lethe. I feel stupid for writing this entire thing and crying about it. I feel stupid for assuming.

And I don’t know how to talk about this in a way that’ll let me say goodbye to it because I do need to let it go, but I’m afraid that if I do, I’ll lose my ability to write because she’s been such a big part of the writing journey for me.

So here it is. Eight years of friendship summed up in however long this is and here I am, trying to let go - and still a little part of me hopes she’ll see it and reach out about something, anything. And a bigger part that’s angry and doesn’t want to talk to her ever again because I don’t want to do this another time.

tl;dr:

I miss my friend Hillary, but also she’s kind of a shitty friend who only seems to care about people when they are writing with her and I’m an idiot for thinking anything else when I’ve had eight years to learn it. Likely if she did find this post, it’ll be misinterpreted in every way until I’m not only an idiot, but also I’m a bully who didn’t give her time and space, who pushed things on her she didn’t want, who she pitied. Because it just occurred to me now how easily she can warp the truth, how she can prod things bit by bit, until it fits just how she wants things to look that’ll benefit her the most. I love my friend, but I’m done. No matter how much I miss her, I deserve more than to be the butt of whatever joke she wants to say to make this sound cool.

My thoughts on the Clear Skies characters so far

Captain Azeri Sull - I love them. Absolute spouse material, too bad I'm not a spaceship so I'm probably not their type. I'm really excited to see what kind of Captain Azeri is, and by extension, what kind of Captain Sam plays. I like the times when Azeri chose to pull rank and the times they chose to sit back and observe. Azeri already seems to be very soft for EXEO which is extremely valid and DAMN IT I am going to have to work hard if I want to stop myself from shipping it (but also why would I ever want to stop myself?) Also, I am already preemptively on board the Azeri/Aliza's Klingon Captain ship.

Commander EXEO - What a precious bean! I can already tell EXEO's character development is going to break my heart at least twice. Like WOW I really can't wait for the malfunctioning programming/holo-emmitter plots! I just know Gina is going to knock it out of the park. "Food is memories!" = my 2nd favorite line of the episode. I absolutely love the voice she's doing too, it occasionally sounds just slightly artificial, which is a great touch. I am also 100% here for Gina interacting with more pretend animals. EXEO & Theq brOTP!

Lieutenant Junior Grade Jane Lakat - Of all of the characters, Jane is the one I find most intriguing. I've seen just enough Trek to know how buck wild a Cardassian member of Star Fleet is and her "How do you know that?" line was probably my favorite from the entire episode. I want Jane's backstory VERY BADLY. I'm extremely interested to learn how much her standoffishness is due to shyness vs previous bad experiences with fellow Star Fleet members. She seems like a character that others find arrogant and I can't wait to find out how wrong or right that is. Orwell is 100% going to get into some shenanigans. Oh, and it hasn't escaped my notice that Lieutenant Junior Grade is kind of a low rank for a Chief Science Officer.

Ambassador Olyn Madzhin-Nil - I'm really into the prospect of getting a bunch of first contact storylines! I'm so excited to see that promenade in use, and see some rad diplomacy missions. I'm also really looking forward to learning more about Aki as a player. I don't know whether forgetting about some details of the intruder's message was character nerves or player nerves, but I thought it was a great touch. Also I really love that Olyn went and told the Captain about the intruder asap. Even though Eric was prompting them to tell someone about it, I can still see a world where the Ambassador didn't know who to trust and kept it to themself. I also adore Patience, and I'm really interested to get the backstory on when/why a Deltan Ambassador chose to adopt an Earth dog.

Chief Theq Lynadas - I. Love. Him. The accent, the excitability, the lack of propriety! Chief Theq is friendshaped. Holographic cookies that play memories and provide emotional resonance? What a SWEET BOY! I'm dying to know what Rogan did to get on the bad side of someone who seems to work hard at not having a bad side. Also the black shirt with yellow trim looked great with Xander's blue hair! What a Look. Xander seems so comfortable with the character already, and I'm really excited to learn more about him! And I am HERE for more vaguely ominous interactions with Jane!

Lieutenant Commander M'qrell - I can't wait to meet her next episode! But even without meeting her, I'm excited for that thing that Bonnie is so good at doing where she has these huge character secrets that she doesn't reveal to the audience for AGES but allows to inform her character choices. Occasionally frustrating when a character makes choices you don't understand, but really rewarding when the pieces fall into place. And SO fun when you rewatch the whole show!

Lieutenant Commander Yeri Prahl - Star Fleet is Very Serious Business and nobody knows that better than Yeri. I'm anticipating some tension between the Chief of Security and the Captain. I don't know if Eric will take it fully in this direction, but I'm intrigued by the idea of having a member of Senior Staff who does his duty but doesn't really care for the Captain. We'll see if he gets on board with Azeri's management style after some time to adjust.

Lieutenant Zhyliss Vrenn - Absolute Himbo. Mutton chops are my favorite style of facial hair! (Only on fictional characters though, IRL muttonchops should NOT be trusted.) I shouldn't be charmed by Vrenn's dumb jock energy, but here we are. He's probably a pro at the Andorian equivalent of a kegstand.

"Hey there."

The greeting was calm, friendly and quiet, but Kokichi Oma's reaction was anything but. In the early hours of the morning, he jolted awake (not that he remembered falling asleep to begin with), and shot upright in bed. Immediately, his purple eyes locked onto the figure within the corner of his dorm room.

Well, "figure," wasn't quite the correct term, but "figurine." Specifically, it was the life-sized, life-like wax statue of Rantaro Amami. Or "Randy," as he often called it.

"A statue," Kokichi reminded himself, shaking his head as he stared elsewhere into the darkness of his room. "Statues can't speak, idiot. You're just tired, that's all."

Statues couldn't move, either, yet as the Ultimate Supreme Leader glanced back towards the artistic rendition of his friend, he stiffened.

Was that always the way that the statue had stood? Kokichi ran through the details that he had memorised after endless hours of talking to the inanimate object for comfort. Feet shoulder width apart, arms crossed loosely over the chest, head turned to the side, mouth slightly parted, eyes staring forward... that... that was all correct, right?

The more Kokichi stared at the statue, the more something felt... wrong. Different.

"You're tired, Oma," Kokichi reminded himself. "You're imagining things."

Yet that didn't stop him from discussing the strange occurrence with his friends the next morning. With all of the lies that he was known to tell, however, it was unsurprising that neither Kaede Akamatsu nor Shuichi Saihara immediately believed him.

After all, who would believe the boy who cried wolf so many times?

Also now that i’m thinking about it, for how much i struggle to have any characters linked to the Dragon Knights saga (i did get Lancelot, Vane and Aglovale, i had to Spark one Percival, still no Siegfried in sight, let alone other chara like Arthur and Mordred, or Sophia),

I think i got a lot of characters that appeared in wmtsb???

Lucifer was one of my first ever summon, and since then as summon i got Gabriel and Raphael, two of the primarch (not to mention, Grimnir, Raphael’s disciple)

In wmtsb pt1, characters that appeared and that i have includes Therese, Richard (two versions of him), Juri (two versions), Farrah, Aliza (three versions) and Stan (two versions), and i don’t have Yggy as a character but i have her as a summon.  So from wmtsb pt1 i’m missing Uriel and Michael and that’s. about it.

from Paradise Lost i got a version Malluel and Halluel, ofc Sandalphon oblige. Noa gets mentioned once which gets me to be able to brag about having two versions of him, one being his Grand.  Aside from that I just don’t have Belial (and Michael and Uriel again)

And from 000, where a lot of secondary characters adds to the cast, I already had Lancelot (and have now what, 5, 6 Lancelot??), Albert, Charlotta’s SR, Cagliestro, and I got Ilsa’s SSR this pull.  Knowing that Malluel and Halluel are back in the plot and so are the primarches. So again who’s missing is litterally just the chara i don’t have from the previous parts, ie Belial, Michael and Uriel - and else i don’t have Sariel’s summon.

So out of 23 characters, i got 18 characters involved in wmtsb (without counting the core cast anyway)

that’s like a fucking lot.

Ofc only toppled by the fact i seem to have at least one version of each character of the Society Team (Eustace, Zeta, Varsega, Isla, Beatrix, Cassius).

I think it’s safe to call myself a GOT7 fic writer by now, and with that I decided what better way to bring the GOT7 fandom, specifically lovers of Youngjae heh, together by creating a Youngjae Fic Fest.

Of course, you don’t have to exclusively be a fan of just GOT7. If you love Youngjae and are interested in writing, then go ahead! The more the merrier. ^^

One thing to note: I am organizing two fests! One on tumblr which would be the Youngjae x reader insert fics, and the other on Ao3 (archiveofourown) where all the Youngjae x GOT7 members will be posted. 

Same rules apply to both to avoid any confusion! Some writers only write one or the other, and I wanted everyone to have a chance to join in!

 So without further ado, here are some general rules to follow:

READER INSERT FICS: A. Minimum word count: 500. There will be no maximum word count because I, myself, like to write really long fics, so go ham if you want to! If you work does exceed 500 words, it must be put under “Read More” to avoid really long scrolling on the dashboard. B. It can be any genre you’d like for as long as you include some type of warning if it’s going to be NSFW or just any potential triggers that may harm anyone reading your fic/s. C. The posting date is on September 17, 2017. Now I know a lot of us are going to be in different time zones, and there is no guarantee that everyone can post their work on a fixed time, so you can publish your fic on tumblr in different ways i.e:

1) The week leading up to Youngjae’s birthday, September 17. Some writers might want to create more than one fic, so they can try posting one fic per day until his actual birthday comes up! 

1.1) If you’re only making one, and you’re not sure that you will be able to post it on his birthday exactly, you can post it on any days of the week prior to his birthday. (Specifically, that’ll be within September 11-17).

2) You can try to match his time zone (in South Korea)! For example, I have PST, so when it’s 12 AM in South Korea, I will post my fic at 8 AM. Of course, this may sound extra heheheh, but it also seems really cute and special!

3) Or you know, you can just post it whenever it’s September 17 in your time zone. As long as all the fics have been posted by September 18 (some difficulties might arise, so I’m making this an exception. And this will be measured in PST), we’re all good!

D. I think it’s a given that it should be Youngjae x Reader. Buuuut, just to be sure. :^) 

E. Last but not the least, please tag your fic with ‘cyjficfest2017′ in the first five tags in order for me to see them and reblog them! We want every entry shown and given the much deserved appreciation it needs! :)

YOUNGJAE x GOT7 MEMBER FICS: Rules A and B apply here as well, but the posting date is an exception.

You need to have an AO3 account in order to post your work on there. If you have finished your work earlier than the due date, that’s okay! When publishing your work, go to ‘Collection’ and type out ‘CYJFicFest2017′ and the collection name will pop up. Once you click that, and you post your work, you will see that it hasn’t actually been posted yet because it has been sent to the collection, and I will be revealing all the fics submitted on the same date, that is 17 September 2017 at 8 AM PST.

PROMPTS:  I have compiled a list of prompts from several people and I want to thank them for their great contribution! Without their help, this fic fest wouldn’t have surfaced at all, so just a quick shout out to: Ana, Aubry, Fawn, Maram, Aliza, Kai, and Ash for giving me their much needed inputs! ^^,

There are 22 main prompts. The reason being for the specific number is because that will be Youngjae’s age in Korea on his birthday this year! Having said that, I have received more than 22 prompts and I couldn’t possibly let some of them go. Eventually, I decided to make subcategories that fit the main ones that could help you, as a writer, polish the plot of your story even more!

Notes: 

1.) You can use more than one prompt in one fic  2.) Your fic does not have to have a “birthday theme.” Ideally, that’d be great but we don’t want that much of a similarity with the fics submitted, so go crazy with your imagination! 3.) You don’t have to include all of the subcategories in your fic. For example, you had a totally different vision in mind when you think about “Han River,” so feel free to take your fic wherever you want it to go. 4.) If you feel as if any of the prompts do not work for you, send me a message and we can figure something out! :) 5.) These prompts will be used for the reader insert fics and the x member fics!

“Did you see the look on her face? I almost d — Oh, hey.” Sawyer is taken back by seeing them as she literally stumbles back a few steps but quickly slaps a smile on her face to hide the look of surprise. “Well, surprise, surprise. Is it my lucky day? I didn’t expect to see you here.” Her tone is flat sprinkled with fake joy. Despite not exactly wanting to see them, she would rather endure the conversation than be the weak link between the two as she patted her friend’s elbow to go away. 

Aliza had been trying to keep her presence quiet - she knew Sawyer was around, but that didn’t mean she wanted to make herself known to Sawyer. Things were always a little awkward - especially in public - and Aliza, despite herself, knew better than to make a scene in public. Her plan was to make a quiet exit when they ran into each other - almost literally. “Hi!” her voice was a little bit off pitched, nerves settling in her stomach. “Didn’t mean to bother you or anything, I was just - cleaning up. Party planner duties, you know. Can’t leave an event until the last of the trash is swept up and the bills are all paid, you know?”

1. What is their full name? What does it mean? Do they go by any nicknames/aliases?

Her name is Sandhya (no last name aha). It means “twilight” — her parents always told her the meaning behind it: her mother went into labour in the morning and she wasn’t born well into the night, hence Sandhya.

There… really aren’t any good nicknames to be made with such a name. She doesn’t mind much.

2. Do they have a familiar? What is it?

Sandhya has a cat familiar named Raat (shh I know that’s Aliza’s pet but I’ve changed my mind). He’s a black cat and gets along well with Faust; they sometimes curl up together and fall asleep. It’s adorable.

3. What type/s of magic do they specialize in?

Magic was strictly prohibited by her grandmother and mother, which meant Sandhya had no way of learning it unless she went behind their backs. Needless to say, she never did. Sandhya doesn’t specialize in anything because of this, and mostly just absorbs whatever Asra is willing to teach her.

She does have an affinity for reading fortunes, however; the cards speak to her.

4. Which of the major arcana best represents them?

Concerning the plot of the story, the Fool comes to mind, since it represents the beginning of a journey. However, if I had to pick a major arcana that fits Sandhya specifically, I’d say the Hermit, upright and reversed.

Isolation, loneliness, withdrawal—these all play a major role in her life. She’s grown more independent after coming to Vesuvia, but she’s mostly made friends with cats. Sandhya lives alone, save for the stretches of time where Asra stays with her, and she both loves and hates it. She’s a solitary person by nature, but too much isolation makes her lonely. She wants to be around people, yet doesn’t want to open herself up.

Sandhya still has a lot of growing up to do, and she knows it. Throughout her time at the palace, she’s doing a lot of soul-searching. Does she want to stay in Vesuvia forever? Will she always be a shopkeep? Or is a life with adventure and spontaneity more suited to her?

8. What is their natural alignment (lawful/neutral/chaotic good/neutral/evil)?

Lawful neutral. Sandhya lives in a world of grey, and she treats every situation and choice critically, weighing the pros and cons before taking action.

While she respects authority, she also knows that it can be corrupt. Sandhya obeys laws, but if she feels they don’t fit her moral code for whatever reason, she quietly skirts them (then freaks out thinking she’ll get caught lol).

A good example of her alignment in work is the situation with Nadia and Julian. Sandhya’s warming up to the Countess; she’s realized Nadia is not as bad as people think. But she’s also skeptical about Julian’s involvement in the Count’s murder. While Sandhya has accepted that fate brought her to Nadia, she isn’t willing to rat Julian (or Portia) out.

19. How do they deal with conflict?

Badly, lmao. Sandhya hates conflict with a burning passion, and tends to avoid it like the plague. Which means she’s not above ignoring a problem until it goes away, or pretending she’s fine with something when she’s not. She just wants to live a conflict-free life, damn it.

20. What are their principal goals?

What Sandhya wants more than anything is to go back to her shop. While the palace life is interesting and proving to be something of an adventure, she doesn’t like the responsibility that comes with it. In fact, she’s scared of it.

So right now, her primary goal is to go back to her shop, though fate is making it extremely difficult.
