Would be curious to hear your thoughts on the shinies for Fomantis/Lurantis

Fomantis: This line is based off of orchid mantids but in reverse—plants pretending to be bugs instead of the other way around. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for the shiny to both be a common flower color (yellow) and a common mantid color (green). The shiny technically adds a third color by swapping the previous two shades of pink for yellow and green, but it works because the green goes along with the bluish green that was already present in the design, keeping it down to a two-color palette. It's also a very noticeable shiny and easy to spot from a distance.

Lurantis: Lurantis is incredibly consistent with Fomantis, swapping the exact same colors. However, it actually has an even better shiny due to the original blue-green color not being as prominent in the design, allowing the yellows and greens to stick out even more than they do on Fomantis. The palette has good contrast, and, once again, is very easy to tell apart as a shiny. Great stuff, no complaints here.

Overall: Two great shinies that are distinct from the originals, have a meaningful palette swap, and are overall just nice looking.

Disclaimer: I know only the top 3 of these are gender locked, I believe all grass types can & do have #girl energy and I would make a poll a mile long if I could.

Also consider a vote for one to include pre-evolutions too (essentially to include Roselia, Vileplume, Dolliv, and Gossifleur)

lurantis ?

It’s a common misconception that Lurantis is a Bug-type mimicking a flower, but it’s actually the opposite. Lurantis have evolved (as in long-term evolution, not Pokémon evolution) to resemble an insect, but it shares more similarities with plants. A lot of people mistake its eyes for compound eyes, the same that many Bug-types have, but similar to Flygon, those are actually transparent “shields” that cover their real eyes. Despite the evidence, some people swear up and down that Lurantis is a Bug-type and should be classified as such.

There are plenty of pokemon I am more than excited to study!! Plant types are my specialty by default, its why I took up a secondary horticulture major!

One of my favorite pokemon I've studied within the past are lurantis!! Ohhh my arc they're such beautiful pokemon, and quite menacing within the wild! I had my experience working with them during an internship at a local greenhouse, and they're such a pleasure. Despite this though, they're by far some of the most finnicky of grass types, possibly on par with the lilligant line. In order to keep a lurantis looking as stunning as it does, it must live within an environment with pretty high humidity, as well as a nutrient rich diet of bug-type pokemon. They surprisingly dont need highly nutritious soil to thrive, an equal price to pay for having to eat bugs all the time I think! They also need more sunlight than your standard grass type, and pure distilled water for consumption, none of that mineral laced tap water!

Lurantis also can position their limbs in such a way that they look just like a flower! They can utilize this method to both blend into the environment when resting, or attracting prey with the disguise of bright petals and lovely scents. This is why its so important for Lurantis to take care of themselves, even if it takes some extra steps!

Within the wild, they also have a symbiotic relationship with local oricorio! Often working together and sharing territory in exchange for nectar!

Ahh... I'd also love to do more research on psychic types, or even the ninetales line! Their hidden psychic abilities and their beauty is unmatched....

Just a little side thing I've noticed as well! Apparently within the biology world eevee are kind of like.. Overrated? A LOT of beginning biologists come in with a passion for learning about them and researching them, so almost EVERYONE wants to get into eevee-based studies which results of a bit of stigma in the workplace by less commonly studied pokemon researchers HAHA
