Lydia: So what's the deal with you and Hale?

Stiles: What do you mean?

Crowd: Ahhhhhhhhh.. [58 - 57]

Basketball coach: Positions! Hale! Stay on your man next time!

Lydia: I mean, why the sudden interest in you? I didn't even think he knew your name before

Stiles: (muttering) ignoring the underhanded insults, (clears throat) I'm fairly certain he still doesn't know my name

Coach: Hale! Get your head in the game!

Lydia: So why the sudden interest?

Stiles: (sighs) I don't know Lyds, I bumped into him once, insulted him right afterwards and suddenly he's everywhere! The library,-

Crowd: Let's go Cy-clones!-

Stiles: the locker rooms before and after lacrosse practice,-

Crowd: Let's go! Clap! clap! clap-clap-clap!

Stiles: always close to where I park my jeep

Crowd: Let's go-

Stiles: And I'm pretty sure I saw him and some older looking dude staring at me during lunch one time

Lydia: star basketball player

Lydia: suddenly gets put in his place by you

Lydia: and now seems to have a great interest in you...

Lydia: I think, he has a crush on you

Ref: (whistle) Number 31! Technical foul! Two shots! [60 - 59]

Both turn, and like most of the crowd, are slightly shocked since this is Derek's first technical foul. Looks to see there's less than a minute left of the game...

Stiles: Lyds...when was the last time we lost a game

Lydia: The year before Derek joined the team...

Other team makes their first shot [60 - 60]

Stiles: (looks over at Derek on the court, thinks about all the odd occurrences that have happened... thinks back to what Lydia said...goes a little pink) ...how sure are you?

Lydia: Completely

Stiles: Okay... okay

The person who says that Derek is a "fake edgy ass bitch" is like... completely bonkers

He's not edgy at all?? Stiles is the edgy one??? Derek is the softest marshmallow boy ever

Anyone that says Derek is edgy only ever casually watched scenes with him during seasons 1 and 2 and only ever took in the most basic, surface level information on him. They see him going through The Horrors, and assume he must be edgy. They see the Alpha spark going through him, and they assume he's on a power trip (versus trying to be a stable pack, so they can survive against enemies)

That is the only explanation because if you pay him even the slightest attention, you'd see how much of gooey, softhearted marshmallow Derek is. He just wants to be a part of a safe, thriving pack again. He was born the middle child in a huge pack that included born werewolves and humans alike. He wasn't meant to be an Alpha. He wasn't meant to be alone.

But because he is (and 100% puts the blame on himself), he built this armor around himself to protect who he truly is, and he only lets those he trusts most to see past that for the longest time.

Unfortunately, shallow people can't see that.

Sidenote: the edgiest thing about Derek is that sharp tongue of his. Which is why Stiles has so much fun bantering with him- because THAT is an edgy little bastard boy.

For the WIP game - I'd love to hear about Derek's little shop of horrors! 😄

Thanks SO much for the ask! This one is actually inspired by two Tumblr posts. One was about artisan baker Derek and his beautiful sourdough loaves and the other was a non-sterek post about this after hours bakery that all kinds of strange eldritch creatures and horrors visited to get their baked goods, paying in strange ways.

So this is Derek's little bakery for horrors and one day, one of his creature clients pays him with a wish. Derek accidentally wishes for Stiles, the sheriffs son who comes in at all hours, who Derek has had a devastating crush on for years. Lots of angst occurs because Derek believes Stiles is only interested in him because of his wish. Given his history, he tries everything in his power to resist the magic of the wish that keeps pushing them together.

Stiles meanwhile has spent so much time and money at the strange bakery that seems to always be open, even at 3 in the morning, partly because the pastries are to die for but mostly because he is madly attracted to the surly baker. He just can't understand how he's suddenly always bumping into him. It's almost like the universe wants them to be together or something.

additional extras: ancient creatures that are deeply amused by these squishy creatures and their inability to communicate with each other.

I think they made it official on Netflix website that Derek full name is Derek Turnbow. He’s clearly the son of the owners of the mansion.

Yeah we knew for a while because of the bedroom bts pictures that are clearly his bedroom lol but it's official at least!

do you remember when derek ran into an active bombing site because hotch was down there and needed help. do you remember when hotch told derek he had and always would trust him with his life. do you remember hotch coming with derek in restorations. leaving the door open in profiler, profiled. derek being the one to hold him after foyet. what about "no thanks, I like my job" "you like him more". how hotch's hallucinated fears culminated in derek dying right in front of him, close enough to feel the blood. or derek saying call hotch--not 911, hotch--when they kidnapped him. or the casual touches. every time they share space they have no real reason to other than because the other is there. remember when derek took on some of the paperwork because he knew what it was like to have a single parent, so hotch wouldn't stress? or when hotch heard derek say he'd lied about a body, he'd needed help, and was instantly ready to go? how over and over they always gravitate back to each other? remember when derek said hotch could sometimes be kind of a drill sergeant, softening it with the qualifiers? when hotch tells derek about haley leaving? when derek says to rossi he's going to do whatever hotch needs him to do because he's lost enough? every single time derek is the one to seriously worry about hotch when he's hurt? do you remember all of that?

to answer the question, i don't know. i don't see why it matters, because i think any of the above tells you infinitely more about them.
