I’m starting to consider going on hiatus / leaving.
I joined the Dragon Prince fandom to make a difference and teach one another to accept others’ opinions and ideas. I’ve worked for four months and I’m still not really seeing a difference.
It’s happened very rarely, but some people have come at me too. Not just on here. Pinterest and Reddit too. My goal is clear: make this fandom better.
I’ve drawn, written, theorised, headcannoned, put stuff out there, done everything to contribute and even put out positive messages and encouragement. But people haven’t gotten the message, so I’ll say it plainly.
The Dragon Prince fandom is bordering on toxic. “Stay in your little circle then!” That doesn’t stop other people getting bullied out of the fandom. That’s cowardice.
And I know leaving and taking a break is also cowardice, but I don’t know anymore. I don’t know if my message got across to anyone, and I certainly don’t think I’ve had that big of an impact for people to miss me dearly. I’m not leaving yet, but I am considering.
Thank you to those who have been so nice to me and welcomed me with open arms and willing ears: @otter-and-terrier @tategaminu @stuck-in-jelly @obsessivejelbear22 @youruinedmylifebynotbeingreal @khessanumber1fan @etharithecraftsmen @m4rs-ex3 @temerity14

Market trip this morning with these two! Got some sunshine for it and everything 🥰
#maple#Tess#we saw lots of other dogs and lots of people#maple has been a challenge on outings lately and she’s been inconsistently barking at other dogs#today though was a success on that front#no barking and decent disengaging. though there was a 6 month old golden retriever that she really wanted to say hi to#she pulled a lot to try get to that but I moved her away and she accepted that new direction#Tess though was a yahoo. not in terms of dogs- she ignored most of them except a kelpie who the other owner threw into her face#and a greyhound who she liked and wanted to say hi to. no instead her focus was on me and the potential for treats#so she spent the whole time launching at me and parkouring off me#kind of funny tho. a family came over and asked to pat the dogs. the kids were v gentle and the dogs didn’t mind so I let them#and the parent was ‘oh they’re so well behaved! 🥰’ as maple had just jumped on her and Tess was parkouring off me#I mean yeah I guess they didn’t jump on the kids at least and sat nicely for those pats#I looked over at Bek who was in line a few metres away once they left and she gave me a solemn thumbs up#interaction successful#oh yeah and as we were leaving Tess was going all out on ‘behaviours that might earn a reward’#she saw a raised surface#and took her chance#the surface being the table at the entrance to the market that fundraising people use to put their stuff on#luckily at that point all that was on it was a plushie goose#but my dumb little optimistic dog was at the end of her leash while I was putting something in the bin and not paying close attention#so she tried to jump onto the table. got her paws on it. hit the end of the leash. backflipped off#me: … of course you tried that. I should’ve known#a nearby fundraising person: :oo oh wow!!!! was she trying to get the goose?#me: no. she just.. does that. any raised surface. she tries to jump onto#person: omg really?? that’s amazing#that’s one word for it

If I was in charge of the video game department at Disney, I would have released a Triple-A RPG open-world action-adventure game based on The Little Mermaid that serves as a video game prequel, adaptation and sequel to the original movie by now.
#disney#the little mermaid#video games#disney video games#txt#bro there is so much uncovered lore to this universe#so much! to explore!#why won't my pleas ever be listened?#tbf i don't think making a game like this is unattainable#it'd make a shit ton of money. this is the little mermaid we are speaking of#even its highly controversial and debated remake managed to make a decent amount of money#just get people who are genuinely passionate about the movie and the characters ariel specifically#coming to think of it there is a very limited number of video games based on mermaids#i imagine it's extremely difficult to program a complex video game based on an underwater setting#idk i'd like programmers/video game developers to enlighten me on that#but that's my guess as to why they are not that common#but yeah i'd set put a prologue with a young triton as the main playable character#and then decades later have the story set at least a few days prior to the little mermaid with now ariel as the main playable character#and have mini-games with sebastian flounder or scuttle#and do side quests with both the sea creatures and kingdom residents#i'd have eric be a playable character in the climax of the video game#and then have a few more missions set months or a year after the movie#or 2 years at most#expanding on ariel's interactions with human culture#that's what i'd do#there is so much potential here#the fact that i'm already creating an outline for these mf's. smh#i should be one of the writers there

There's been so many different Batman shows, and I grew up during a time when there was like 50 of them on TV (if I may be hyperbolic). I saw Batman 1966, Batman The Animated Series, The Batman (2004), and Batman: The Brave and The Bold. I saw all four of those shows to some extent, and I kind of want to dissect my opinions on each of them.
I was born in 2005, so Batman 1966 and Batman The Animated Series were both beyond my age range. But I caught reruns of both shows. I don't know if it's overplaying my hand to say what tv stations they aired on, but there was a channel for exclusively retro kids content (like 40s-80s stuff) when I was really young. So that's how I learned of Batman: 1966. The first episode I saw featured Burgess Meredith's Penguin hypnotizing Alfred. I remember that one being my first very clearly, and I then vaguely remember binging some of the first and second seasons when I got them from the public library. I loved them, although I never did get around to watching Season Three of Batman 1966. I plan to eventually (now that I have it on DVD). I'm curious to see my thoughts.
Now as for Batman The Animated Series… I caught that one on reruns too, but not on a channel for retro programming. No, reruns of it just aired late at night sometimes. And I really only remember one episode I saw as a kid: Two-Face. Both parts, but Part 1 was the real standout. I remember that one almost viscerally. It made me a fan of Two-Face, and he'll forever remain a favourite. But I didn't actually love the show that much. Beyond the occasional highlight (like Heart of Ice or Two-Face parts 1 and 2), I really don't remember much about the show. It wasn't a highlight for me. I always found Catwoman especially dull on that show. Maybe my mind would change upon revisiting it, but I don't really want to revisit it.
Now, The Batman (2004). This one started when I was yet to be born, but it ended when I was probably around 4 years old. Being born in 2004, I don't really remember seeing too much of this one on TV. Except for the time I may have gotten a DVD from a library or a blockbuster or something, and it had the debut episodes of Catwoman, Mister Freeze and Man-Bat. I also vaguely recall an episode with Joker and a Train, and Penguin with the Green Lanterns (or something like that)? I didn't actually watch much of it, except for me binging Seasons 1 and 2 online when I was slightly older. I remember liking the first two seasons. Especially the interesting takes on the villians.
Now finally, let's talk The Brave and The Bold. This one aired when I was probably in the age range of being six to nine, and I loved, loved, loved this one! It's still my favourite! I remember a lot of episodes in decent detail. I remembered the first season particularly. The Outsiders, Plastic Man, The Music Meister, Blue Beetle, Aquaman, Owlman, Bat-Mite, etc. I didn't really watch as much of seasons two and three, but season one stands out super strongly in my minds eye. There's a reason I asked for it this Christmas, after all. Also, my public library had the tie-in comic! I remember reading it! I learned about Power Girl, Sugar and Spike, Kid Eternity and Captain Marvel/Shazam through that thing! It was the best!
So I saw four Batman shows, and only really remember scraps from each of them. Maybe I should revisit them all someday. But i'm focused on Batman 1966 and Batman The Brave and The Bold for now. They're the best of the best, in my opinion. And now, if anyone wants me to, maybe i can make some more posts on this stuff later. Maybe I can rank the DC movies i saw, as well as the other dcu tv shows. Maybe I can even talk about the voice actors for each show, or whatever. I have an excessive wealth of stuff to say with these topics, I think.

my biggest issue with veilguard is that its a roleplay game that refuses any possibility of roleplay. you can say whatever you want about bg3 but for all its flaws (and yes it has many) at least that was a game that called itself an rpg and then allowed me to feel like i was roleplaying a character within its universe. hello we dont even need to go into different studios to feel the difference, literally compare any other da game to datv??? yeah youre not siding with the villains in the da games like u can in bg3, but at least u can be an asshole in dao and da2, at least theres some questionable decisions u can make in dai, at least theres OPTIONS for how ur character can be. in datv its like they picked rooks personality for you and now you just gotta deal with it, the same with the world. there was no concern for the 10 years we spent curating our canon worlds, they picked everything for you then said too bad so sad if you didnt like it. like at this point why even be an rpg and why even be a continuation of dai if u arent interested in roleplaying the possibilities that come from continuing that story? theres no point in trying to rp what your character would say bc all the dialogue options are the same sentiment, there isnt a true choice in what it is you say, just the tone in which you say it. the difference is basically whether u wanna say the thing straightforward or if you wanna say the thing with a corny one-liner attached to it lmao but you do always have to say the thing regardless. like why even have it be an option if all the dialogue options are basically the exact same sentiment? and the fact that you have to really really reaaaaaaally try to get companions to dislike you in this game bc theres almost no decisions to be made that would actually affect ur relationship with any of the characters... no choices to make in the roleplay game about choices... even though i tried to rp differently my 1st and 2nd pt, played a different race/origin/class, made all different decisions, it felt virtually unchanged. i played a shadow dragon warrior city elf 1st pt, a warden rogue qunari 2nd pt, and the differences were so miniscule as to basically just amount to like... which city i saved... and which characters i romanced... lmao. nobody even comments on the fact that youre an elf/qunari in tevinter???? like it literally could not matter less who rook is bc rook is THEIR oc, the devs, you just get to pick an outfit for them lol. for me, the fun in dao comes from the fact that i can make a character and rp them in such a way that will result different outcomes and relationships, and then create another character with totally different outcomes and totally different relationships even though these choices all exist within the same story. your relationship with morrigan depends on how you roleplay, allowing you to see different sides of the same character, and she behaves very differently depending on how u decided to play. in that there is something worth replaying. in veilguard, everyone and everything is so static, so predetermined... theres no point in playing the game more than once bc theres no choices to be made. it all amounts to the same thing regardless

all vinegar no honey
#genuinely deranged ass assignment#i keep thinking this over and over but dennis reynolds youd love being a home inspector#every fucking time i read some shit abt how being a good home inspector is about putting on a performance/acting im like uh huh#oh you need to Maintain Control and not *lie* but be choosy with truths and how to deliver them#i don't even know if dennis would be particularly Good at this (theres So much that can throw you off your social script) but like#i think they were onto something w honey and vinegar truly i think he'd be a decent agent and a good inspector#in a familiar situation i think he'd be good at maintaining this sort of 'dont worry about it i have it under control'#in the most fake it til you make it way#and that's. like you dont even necessarily need to Know anything about what youre talking about#you basically just need to make sure the client doesn't distrust you enough to question it#inherently deceptive profession where you're sort of a jack of all trades and master of none#when in doubt just say you should probably get that looked at by a specialist lol#in the context of sunny i think itd be hilarious to have the gang walking through peoples houses and pointing to obvious disrepair#like yeah i think that's gotta get looked at#burst pipe gushing water -> camera pulls back to show charlie standing up to his waist in sewage#am i giving away the game here. hire me to look at your furnace or whatever i can tell you if there's rust on it#ada speaks#the one thing is that dennis is so bad at bullshitting i think anybody would catch on he had no idea what he was talking about#but if he was genuinely informed like he is with psychology i think he'd be able to manage questions being lobbed at him#at least well enough to deflect without losing credibility#inspector inspection

i admit that i find it a little bit frustrating how Wildly Astonished other antizionist jews act when i tell them my israeli jewish family have lived in the region since [some unknown length of time before 1800 when there start being records about it]
#and then they're like ''ohhh they're mizrahi!'' [connotation nonwhite‚ virtuously indigenous]#and i have to be like. no. it's just that‚ as palestine was in fact ottoman-administered greater syria for most of the last 600 years‚#you could get there from other parts of the ottoman empire. such as the part of now-ukraine your ashkenazi family is also from.#it wasn't actually a hermetically sealed arab-only ethnostate that evaporated immigrants on sight. it was a pretty decent place to live as#a jew by at least some accounts. or better than the front of the hapsburg-ottoman war anyway which is where they were coming from.#i'm not sure who you think it's serving exactly to believe that there were literally no ashkenazim in the middle east before the 1st aliyah#however there were some. and this information does not actually threaten a modern anti-state of israel position like at all.#but since apparently you've constructed your new Diaspora-Centric Identity around the idea that 'palestine' and 'diaspora'#are the two mutually exclusive nonoverlapping regions and the former is ontologically a no-european-jews-allowed zone#i guess i can give you a minute to try to figure it out.#ugh sorry this is nothing it isn't anything. for one thing it's fantastically unimportant#and for another thing i don't know how to like talk about it in a way that doesn't make me sound at least kind of like im trying to justify#myself as being somehow less complicit or something. i mean i think my complicity as an american dwarfs the rest of it honestly but.#i just feel really insanely alienated where the rhetoric of my theoretically most closely politically aligned group is not really built to#like. accommodate the facts of my family history.#sorry. i have honestly no idea why im so obsessed with articulating this concept ive just been chewing on it pointlessly for days#box opener

Alright, well. I'm supposed to be dead asleep right now, but I'm gonna put this here so I don't worry anyone—
I won't be active a lot for a few days. I won't say any details for privacy, but I will that my little cousin passed away yesterday, and theres more other traumatic reasons i don't want to share.
I shouldn't really have to say anything more on why I'm taking a small break. I thought I could push through it, but I can't.
You will definitely still see me be active or sometimes even respond, mainly because you guys are my favorite distraction.
And yeah, that's kinda it. See you guys in a few days.

(so... uh... how far into dai do you have to get before it starts being good?)
#i thought da2 was worse than dao in almost every way#repetitive undetailed environments boring combat less player influence over the story less customization of the player character etc.#but it had one shining redeeming quality#and that was the characters#who i actually cared about more than the characters in dao#and lucky for da2 characters are the most important aspect of a game (for me at least)#and good characters can carry an otherwise mediocre game pretty damn far#but i have yet to find the redeeming quality of dai#i mean... it's pretty i guess? though i still needed mods to make a character that looks decent bc the character creator was lacking#but the environment is pretty and detailed i will give it that#but i've been at this eight hours and almost every quest is just go get an item and then go bring it to someone?#there's really minimal story to these quests#and the characters seem interesting but i've barely had opportunities to talk to them#even the ambient party dialogue seems significantly rarer than it was in either dao or da2#why should i care about people i'm not getting to know?#also do they really just go with 'templars and mages are both equally evil & crazy and we're gonna need to just kill all of them you see'#surely that can't be the whole conclusion to the templar-mage war?? there has to be more right??#i'll keep playing bc hopefully it gets better#to be fair i didn't actually like da2 until act 2#i liked dao right away but it still took a bit to get really good#so i think there's still potential here#we will see i suppose#dragon age#dai#dragon age critical
