Weiss: A book Bruce gave me before we came back. He said I would appreciate the subject matter.

Ruby: Cool, what's it about?

Weiss: There's a lot of context I'm missing, and the dialogue is a bit confusing, but it's about this warrior who goes about robbing corrupt noblemen and giving his loot to the poor. Kinda like what Robyn and her Huntresses did back in Atlas.

Beyblade - burst and metal fusion, but i haven't watched any series past the one right after Dante. Idk if there were any after that or if I’m forgetting something

How to train your dragon - everything including games (minus the modern age show, and while i have my misgivings with the third movie, i can still be normal about it. The live action however, i will not discuss.)

The Avatar - Korra and Aang are both great. Never played any games but they're probably cool

Ghibli - do i even have to explain?? I've watched a bunch of their movies

Star Wars - uhgggshahsgjsdujdhsj so good. I’m obsessed with it. I own multiple vintage lightsabers and an old cosplay a family member made back in the day. Once i save up enough I’m gonna buy a doubles blades yellow saber and maybe a sentinel cosplay to go with it. Qui Gon is my favorite character

Star Trek - huge trekkie. Fav will always be the og series' with Kirk and Spock, but I've seen most (except the newer) shows. Spirk is the ship of all time. Hell, they're ship is so good it's for for the stars (get it (sorry))

Tolkienverse - not sure where to list this honestly. So so good, deathly ill over bagginshield and gigolas

Most people dong get the reference but those that do would probably say something like "but criers assassin didnt actually kill her (yknow when that happened in the first book) why would h name a weapon that" and the answer is because i can. :3

pokemon xyz - literally the most life changing interest of mine. I love this show with all my heart and more

Loki - i really like the soundtrack - OK and massive hes hot. Go lokius my beloved

Arcane - a friend of mine instructed it to me. Funny story, season two is how i got laid last year. Pretty good. Jynx is really relatable to me, like due to her mental stuff, that's probably not normal loll. But any way jayvik is pretty cool. Sevika deserved better. Zaundads are cool and silco is hot. Fav character is probably echo. Fav moment in the series was maybe Heimerdingers solo, i love that song now

The Dragon Prince - Yeah pretty good. Fallen Star / Aaravos is pretty hot, love the voice. The tropes going on between Runaan and Ethari are unparalleled, i absolutely adore them. Corvus and Soren's dynamic is the absolute best and i love them together, top ship and my two fav characters. Even just the plot of the site is just incredible, and the world building, and the literal poetry??? Divine

beyblade Burst - Valt's version - i have so many thoughts. Lui and Free are just. Wow. I aspire to be them, simultaneously. Shu and Alexabder are pretty cool. Valt is an awesome main character, and his friends are peak, particularly Diago, Ken, Silas, and Wakiya just have SUCH ducking good character designs and arcs i cant get OVER it

How To Train Your Dragon (excluding the third and the remake)

Dead Poets Society - emotionally devastating possibly intentional queer allegory. Watching it was a fever dream experience, staying up all night on a school night once in 8th grade to watch it free with ads on YouTube. Oh captain my captain, anyone?

V for Vendetta - i don't know why my mother let me watch this as a 11 year old. But. Oh well. It was pretty good, i heavily enjoy it and did the themes to be relevant. Plus i relate a lil bit to the Martin characters so there's that

Howl's Moving Castle - masterpiece, particularly memorable soundtrack with the most beautiful animation out there.

Bubble - it's just so pretty. Plus a memorable tune

DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION - i did a fem qunari rogue (daggers) that specialized in assassination (her name was Hera) and i had been making towards a romance with josephine (before my save files corrupted permanently........) - next was a (dagger wielding) dalish elf rogue who romanced Dorian (MY LOVE) and i haven't had time to start a specialization yet. Both times i sided w the mages, and left the queen in power. Though the second time at least on good terns w her lover. And uhhh the first one i think i sacrificed Hawk cuz i couldbt fuckkng remember which one was which and i will forever regretttt - the battle tactic's and strats are really in depth honestly with how u can customize bot only your own but also your companions' movepool, stats, armor, weapons, etc. plus there's actual incentive to stay interactive with them bc of the relationship/friendship/ mechanic, its actually really cool. Plus there are so many companions to choose from. And the sheer scope if character customization at the beginning is insane. Ive spent hours total just on that, holy hell, its so cool. And did i mention the SOUNDTRACK. And the bARD SONGS. anyway this is also a special interest of mine

Pokemon X - first every pokemon game, picked fenniken for starter. Got that Delphox (nicknamed Fire (original, right)) to level 100. I miss pokemon amie. I loved being able to skate around and do little tricks. I lovr that game so much i cry thinking about it sometimes

pokemon omega ruby - idk i just loved this one a shit ton too. (Dont get me wrong i love ALL of them. These in particular just stand out). Latios is my favorite guy ever. I caught Heatron in that game. As well as Cobalion (and a number of other legendaries, those three just happen to b favorites). I liked being able to fly w latios and i liked the tune of the flute. Whole game is engaging and has so many fun things to do

pokemon games in general - X (&Y) through Lets Go, ive played it, and used it was Eevee or Sword, Ive played every version. I've also played pokemon rumble blast and pkmn silver. I own scarlet and Violet but haven't gotten around to playing them yet. I am like unsustainably obsessed with pokemon man. I've got binders full of cards too. And So many plushies. So many (but not enough)

Splatoon - played on wiiU and switch, i like it, its cute. I like the ink/squid cencept. And the "hair" (tentacle) styles are so so cute. Jealous

httyd -have a game on ds and also on ps4 (dawn of the new riders), theyre not bad. Might notve liked them so much if i wasnt super into httyd, but i like them

Horizon: Forbidden West - actually really fucking good. Sci fi but simultaneously post apocalyptic. Graphics are beautiful to no end, i cant get over it. There is so much detail. I can see more on my tv screen than i can in real life man. It has a really good plot too while still being somewhat open world with lots of side quests. The fact that the character looks the way she does is important to the story so i dont care that much that there isnt character customization beyond the armor even tho it would rlly be nice (i say as a man). The battle tactics are cool as well

pikmin - i just love pikmin. Been playing it on the wii and wiiU since i was rlly young

Kirby's Epic Yarn- I fucking love Kirby. Another special interest. I could go On and on about Kirby. So cute. Pink. 2nd play is Prince Fluff. Cute ass come decorations. Cute music that i want to simultaneously bounce around as a ball of Joy and fall asleep too. Lovely plot. Literally the part of my childhood that wasn't shit. I love him for eternity in this game specifically 🫶🩷

Frosen Steel Day 5: Injured and Recovery

One second. That’s how long it took for Ruby to get in the way. One second was all it took for Penny to watch Ruby get torn apart and for grimm to start attacking the light dust barrier above Amity Arena. One second was all it took for her to watch everything she had wanted to be taken away from her. Her hand trembled as she clicked play on the recording as she watched Ruby get torn apart by her and then hearing the sounds of Atlas soldiers ordering her to stand down. 

“You have to stop watching that,” Weiss said calmly behind her. “It wont bring her back.” 

Penny turned off the recording and stood up, her joints clicking and squeaking as she moved. She let out a heavy sigh as she caught a picture of her, Ruby, and Weiss together on the desk. “I… I miss her.” 

“I know.” Weiss walked up behind Penny and hugged her, resting her chin on the android’s shoulder. “But she wouldnt want you hurting yourself like this.” 

“She tried to stop the fight. She should not have gotten in the way, but she did and then I… I…” Penny looked down at her hands, swearing that there was still blood on them from trying to help Ruby as a couple Atlas medics took her away. “She is gone because of me.” 

“It wasnt your fault. Someone planned for Beacon to fall and used you. If Ruby was here-” 

“But she is not!” Penny yelled as she punched the screen she had been watching, her body wincing from the electricity that ran through her from it. She pulled her hand back and moved her fingers, listening to the clicks her joints made. “All I want is to see her again. To hold her like I used to.” 

Weiss squeezed Penny a bit tighter, trying to comfort her girlfriend. “I get that, but she wouldnt want you to spend your days wishing for her to be back. She’d want you to live your life, to get out there and help others like you wanted to. Speaking of, the General wanted to see us. He said there was something he wanted us to see and that he needed us to help Mantle.” 

Penny nodded and looked over to Weiss, putting a hand on hers. “Alright.” 

Weiss pulled away from Penny, gently holding her hand. “I’m sure whatever it is will help us.” 

Penny absentmindedly followed Weiss through Pietro’s lab and into the halls of Atlas Academy. She could tell that everyone was staring at her, uneasy with her presence as she continued through the halls and to the command center, even though her name had been cleared over the previous months. Still, she was glad that Weiss had gotten permission to see her and to stay by her side while she tried to “heal” from Beacon. 

As the command center door opened, Weiss pressed a keycard to the scanner and smiled as the door opened. “After you,” she said with a small bow. 

Penny nodded and gently took Weiss’s hand as she walked into the command center, nervous when she saw General Ironwood staring at the two of them. Her fingers clicked nervously as she gently squeezed Weiss’s hand, making sure not to hurt her. “You… you wanted to see us, sir?” 

“I did,” General Ironwood said as he walked closer to Weiss and Penny, handing them both new scrolls. “As of today, you are both in training to be the defenders of Mantle. With the grimm getting more active and slipping in through the wall around Mantle, we’ll need the two of you to assist the soldiers already down there to help contain the grimm and keep the people of Mantle safe.” 

Penny took the scroll and slowly looked it over, pausing when she saw Ruby’s symbol etched in the back along with hers and Weiss’s. She turned it on and paused when she saw her new ID using her old picture before her father upgraded her body. 

“How long will we be in training for?” Weiss asked. “And what will that mean for us?” 

“What it means is that you’ll both be full fledged huntresses once your trial period is over,” the General answered as motioned for the two to follow him. “However, before you start your training, you’ll need to meet your newest teammate.” 

“Newest teammate?” Penny asked curiously as she followed Ironwood out of the command center. Her question was met with silence as the General continued to walk through the halls of Atlas, deeper into the military base. She started to grow worried as she followed Ironwood deeper and deeper, through doors that started to require more clearance and were normally off limits to anyone who wasnt a Specialist or part of the Ace-ops. 

Ironwood stopped at a door and pressed his ID to it, listening to the gears and clicks as the door slowly opened. “Meet your newest teammate.” 

Penny froze for a moment as she watched a familiar girl in a red cloak work on a mechanical arm with a red scythe next to her. She swore the core that was her heart started to pound as her eyes saw Ruby sitting there, alive. “R-Ruby?” 

Ruby looked up and gave a small smile as she reattached her mechanical arm and walked over to the door, standing at attention. “Ruby Rose reporting for duty.” 

“At ease, Huntress Rose.” Ironwood started to walk off. “Penny, Weiss, you may stay down here to get to know your new teammate.” 

Penny slowly took a step forward, then another as she pulled Ruby into a hug, her fingers and arms clicking around her joints as she shook. Her mind rushed with emotions and her “breathing” started to hitch as she spoke. “I… I thought you were dead.” 

“Why are you hugging me?” Ruby asked. 

“B-because you’re alive.” Penny slowly let Ruby go, confused for a moment. 

Weiss finally spoke, her own voice filled with worry as her words slowly left her lips. “What… what do you remember? You know who we are, right?” 

“Of course I know who you are,” Ruby answered with a smile. She pointed to Penny, then Wess as she spoke again. “You’re Penny Polendina, and you’re Weiss Schnee. I’ve read over everything that the General has given me about the two of you until more of my memories come back.” 

Weiss looked at Ruby curiously. “Until your memories come back?” 

“My memories have been suppressed until the General feels like I can handle knowing more.” 

“What do you remember?” 

“I remember training as a huntress and fighting some grimm with my sister, but everything else is still a bit of a blur.” Ruby moved her bangs to reveal a small chip attached to her forehead. “This was put here to help me. The General said I woke up screaming a couple months ago, at which point he made sure my memories were overridden until he was sure I could handle whatever happened to me.” 

Penny reached for the chip on Ruby’s forehead for a brief moment as her fingers shook. It would only take a brief shock to short circuit it and allow Ruby to remember everything, to remember who she was to her and Weiss. One second to allow the floodgates to open and have her girlfriend back. Though, she pulled her hand back once she felt Weiss’s on her, lowering her hand back down to her side. 

“Then hopefully you’ll recover enough to remember soon,” Weiss said with a sad smile, squeezing Penny’s hand. “Is it okay for us to stay for a while longer? Just to get to know you.” 

Ruby nodded and started to make her way back to her desk in the small room. “Of course. I need to finish maintenance on my arm though, so I might be fairly quiet. Need to concentrate.” 

“Then we’ll be quiet for you.” 

Penny watched Ruby take off the mechanical arm and lay it down on her desk. It seemed to have a fresh coat of paint in red and green with a little white accent down the sides and on the fingers to look like gloves. She couldnt take her eyes off as she watched Ruby work, still working on her arm the same way she would on Penny’s. They way she stuck her tongue out a little when unscrewing each panel, the care she took as she checked wired and replaced anything that wasnt working, the gentleness she had with testing each joint. Her Ruby was still there in everything she did, but that wasnt her Ruby. 

“Are you going to be okay?” 

Penny flinched as she felt Weiss take her hand and pull her back a bit. “I… I will be fine.” 

Weiss sighed and leaned into Penny, whispering to her. “We can go back-” 

“I want to be here, with Ruby.” Penny slowly made her way to the bed to sit down, pulling Weiss with her. She sat and watched Ruby work on her arm for hours, rubbing a sleeping Weiss’s back. 

“I’m… not the same that I used to be to you, am I?” Ruby asked. 

Penny nodded and looked down at Weiss. “No, you are not.” 

“What was I to you?” 

“My… friend.” Penny paused for a moment as she said the word, wanting to continue by calling Ruby her girlfriend, the one she wanted to live in this world with. But the words wouldnt come out. It didnt matter if this Ruby still looked, sounded, or acted like her Ruby, this wasnt her Ruby. “A very good friend.” 

Ruby seemed to mull over the answer as she re-attached her arm, wincing as everything was set right. She moved her fingers for a moment, making sure everything still worked. “A good friend. I hope I can still be like that for you.” 

Penny quietly sat with Weiss, her hands shaking for a moment as she rubbed Weiss’s back. Then, a call started to come through. She quickly answered to Ironwood coming up on her display. 

“There are some grimm attacking Mantle and the soldiers we have down there arent enough.” Ironwood sent a couple of coordinates to the grimm. “Consider this your first run as a team.” 

Penny nodded as the call ended, rousing Weiss from her slumber. “We have our first mission.” 

Weiss stretched and reached for her rapier as she sat up. “Where to?” 

“District 12 of Mantle.” 

“I’ll meet you there,” Ruby said as she picked up her scythe and rushed off with her semblance. 

Penny froze as she watched the rose petals flutter around the room. After a minute of watching, she finally got up and rushed after Ruby, running through the halls of Atlas, not listening to Weiss to slow down. She quickly scanned for Ruby, finding her trail and following after. She finally landed, stopping as she watched Ruby fight the grimm. It was like watching a completely different person fight. There was no joy in the way she moved, just precise movements with the scythe. No smiles, just a serious demeanor as she tore through grimm to get the mission done. 

Ruby suddenly stopped as her body seemed to freeze up, her flesh hand reaching to her head as she dropped to her knees. Her arm started to shake as her mechanical bits locked up, her heart rate spiked as she watched a grimm walk to her. 

Penny raced into action, getting between Ruby and the grimm as she sliced into it. The grimm disappeared into ash as the rest started to run off. Instead of chasing after, she slowly turned around and knelt down next to Ruby, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Are you okay?” 

Ruby nodded as she took a breath, her heart starting to slow as her mechanical arm started to move again. “I’m… I’m fine. I lost myself for a moment. I need to get back to Atlas.” 

“My father’s workshop is closer, we can have him look at you-” 

“I need to go back to Atlas.” Ruby looked up at Penny, silver eyes starting to shine before going dull. “General Ironwood needs to know what happened. I’m not ready for combat and need to be looked at again.” 

Penny sighed as she watched a drop ship arrive with Weiss onboard. She helped Ruby up and walked her to the drop ship, supporting her. “Weiss will get you to Atlas. I will see you after I track down the rest of the grimm.” 

Ruby flashed a small smile at Penny. “And you wont disappear on me again, will you?” 

Penny paused in her step as those words ran through her mind over and over, her mouth twitching into a small smile as she swore she heard her Ruby, though her smile dropped when she was met with dull silver eyes. “I… I will not disappear, I will be back once I am done.” 

“Then I cant wait to work with you more, Penny.” 

Penny stopped and helped Ruby into the drop ship as Weiss and a couple medics helped Ruby in, taking off once she was situated. She stayed in her spot for minutes after the drop ship left, her “heart” aching as she ran through her memories of Ruby. Once she was finished, she turned to chase after the grimm, ready to accept that her Ruby was gone and replaced by the one she had met.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS EPISODE OF FRIDAY NIGHT PUNCHGROUND

TEAM RUBY ROSE VS. TEAM YANG XIAO LONG

Previously, former Ultimate Women’s Champion Ruby Rose (RWBY) refused to ask for a rematch against Korra (The Legend of Korra) in order to focus on her sister Yang. Yang had turned heel and broke away from RWBY. She cemented her heel turn by defeating Weiss Schnee at Fictional Wrestlemania.

Angry that her partner was soundly defeated, Ruby vowed to “knock some sense” into her sister. During this episode, Ruby decided to confront Yang in the ring. However, Yang isn’t alone; helping Yang against Ruby are her new friends, Azula (Avatar the Last Airbender) and Shego (Kim Possible).

Luckily, Ruby Rose saw this coming and brought in her own allies. Those allies turn out to be the current Women’s Tag Team Champions Katara and Toph Beifong. With the two sides evenly matched, a six-woman tag team match was ordered by the unnamed commissioner.

"So, you have a daughter who loves violence and uses a brawler style, too?"

"Yeah, though Miko's technically adopted, but Ah'm not one to frag around with that bit o' nuance. How 'bout the music taste o' yours? Does she like heavy metal, too?"

"Yang's more into rock 'n roll, but I think they'll end up trading interests once Miko starts training with her new Semblance."

"Heh, yeah. Hope you don't mind her explosions."

"Hey, I was blowing crap up before I enrolled at Beacon. I can handle it."

"Alright, but jus' wait 'til she sneaks along fer a mission and ruins the enemy's day, Tai. You'll see then."

"......Ironhide, why was that so specific?"

Tai's no stranger to waking up to the sounds of explosions. Usually it's the memory of an old mission from his days with STRQ, or the echoes of his daughter training in the backyard.

So feeling the explosions taking place roughly twenty miles away from his home is very much a Bad Sign, in his book.

Throwing on some proper clothes in ten seconds, Tai races through the building to check on its occupants. Ruby's still unconscious, and Yang's stumbling out of bed because of the racket while Mercury and Neptune charge down the hall from their shared guest room. After he's calmed down the three teens, Tai orders the boys to stand guard while he goes to check things out. Tai still isn't sure what to think of the boyfriends his girls (girl and niece, his mind reproaches him) brought home, but seeing as Tai put the fear of the Lord into Neptune, and he and Qrow cross-examined Mercury to the point the ex-assassin asked if they wanted him behind bars or watching the house in case of threats, Tai felt this was a good decision as he drove out to investigate the disturbance.

That resolve wavers once he sees a red and black robot that's a good forty feet tall beating the paint (literally, he realizes) off of three scrawnier robots while half the forest behind him is scorched earth.

Holding back, Tai watches as the red and black robot battles the other three, their fighting style admittedly lackluster compared to their single, giant opponent's unpredictable brawler technique. In spite of the situation, Tai finds himself noticing the red and black robot using a myriad of styles both familiar and unfamiliar to him. A blur of color races by on the ground, and looking down, he sees a girl close to Ruby's age in bright, Huntress-styled clothing dive behind a tree. Her hands glow with purple fire, and no sooner has Tai deduced that it must be her Semblance than does the girl jump out from behind the tree, give a war cry in a language he's never heard before, and throws a massive fireball at the last standing scrawny robot. It hits him square in the face, and gives her apparent ally the opportunity to shoot him through the chest.

Before Tai can fully register that the victorious robot's arm and hand turned into a gun, the girl gives a different shout in English. Watching the scene unfold before him, Tai witnesses the girl runs toward the robot, who crouches down and holds out a hand for the brightly colored teen to throw her arms around his index finger. The innately paternal gesture makes Tai's concern melt away immediately - whether you're a giant or not, human or robot, to treat a child that tenderly is a sign of the individual's safety to be around.

Certain that the enemies are dead - or at least as dead as giant robots can be - Tai calls out to the two strangers. After some cautious introductions, Tai learns that the robot is called Ironhide while the girl is Miko. It takes some more wheedling on his part, but he eventually gets Ironhide to admit that the two have been separated from friends, and seeing as there's not much else for them to do, Tai invites them to stay at his place. Ironhide and Miko discuss this in the girl's strange language, but they noticeably perk up over something, and before he knows it, Ironhide turns into a pickup truck and questions if they have satellites on the planet.

Confused in a way he hasn't been since learning the Branwen twins could turn into birds back in his first year at Beacon, Tai confirms it. The journey back and explaining to three teenagers freaking out - both in fear and excitement - over the existence of apparent sentient robots is a whirlwind for Tai, but he powers through it enough to find out from a still-explodey Miko that Ironhide is using the house's satellite antenna to broadcast a message across the planet to contact the Autobots.

Somehow, the term "Autobots" is the last straw for the senior Xiao Long, and corralling his charges into Ruby's room, Tai has Ironhide stand outside the open window and explain himself to the humans, Miko on the Autobot's shoulder the entire time. In layman's terms, Ironhide informs them in short order about the 'Bots and 'Cons, Cybertron and the war, and the battle that transpired before they were transported to Remnant, the name having been given to the two "aliens" during their discussion. Miko worries if Remnant has energon, but no sooner has she finished the comment does Wheeljack break through the comm with the news that he has an alternative, and as Tai watches a white-red-green sports car drive up the path to the house, he's stunned to see Qrow of all people step out before this vehicle transforms, too.

"Man, I need some STRONG coffee to deal with this."

Tai and Ironhide, being some of the older and more experienced members of this growing alliance, understand each other from a warrior's perspective. But more than that, they recognize in each other a paternal figure, and oftentimes are seen training with the kids, both human and Cybertronian. Once he's made sure that Tai is a competent fighter and skilled in the use of a Semblance, Ironhide allows the man to teach Miko how to use hers so she can better defend herself. Tai can always feel Ironhide watching him, making extra certain his girl is safe, and Tai likewise knows that Ironhide is aware of his presence when he's interacting with Yang and pushing her to get back into the world and accept her prosthetic arm. Although it's hard hearing Ironhide's drill sergeant attitude at the beginning, Tai recognizes that what the older 'Bot is saying to his daughter is necessary, something he later thanks him for doing as he can't bring himself to say such things to his Sunny Little Dragon. In return, Ironhide expresses his own gratitude for Tai's willingness to go toe-to-toe with Miko and not hold back in their training; normally Ironhide would do what Tai is doing with the girl, but he's too big to be able to do more than encourage and push.

This helps them bond during the Autobots' time on Remnant, and they're arguably some of the closest among the human-Autobot partnerships in the alliance. They hang out together, watch over and guide the kids, and enter the fray together, each one managing to keep Miko in their sight. Although Qrow is his brother in all but blood (even when the details of Ruby's true parentage are brought to light), Tai feels a closer bond with Ironhide. Maybe it's the violent streak they share, or the fatherly nature they express to the kids in their care, but somehow, Tai feels like he's gained a more genuine brother in Ironhide. And while the older 'Bot won't admit it in public - or in some private places - Tai knows the sentiment is reciprocated.

After all, only veterans would understand a connection as deep as their bond.

Here's the second part, folks! I gotta admit, I almost handed Ironhide over to Yang, but then I thought, "Why not give him Tai? They're both fathers, it'll totally work out."

And they honestly do, too! At the beginning, their team name was hard for me to find; I had been contemplating using 'dragon' in the nickname, but then I decided on using 'combat' as a part of it. Surprisingly, it didn't take long for "Combat Veterans" to enter my mind, and it truly sums them up: veterans of combat who've seen it all, but don't let it break them.

Now if you're hoping to get outside of Vale soon, I'm sorry to disappoint you. I have a few more partnerships in mind for the remaining characters in Patch, as well as at least three more 'Bots who arrive to answer Ironhide's signal. That said, once I'm done here, I'm likely gonna head to Atlas for some match ups - or I'll take a break after getting Ruby done. I don't know.

If Weiss hadn’t known Ruby as well or for as long as he had, the former SDC Heir would most certainly have reacted badly to first being rushed at, and then embraced so tightly he could almost feel his ribs protesting. As it was, after a moment of reflexive stiffening — caused by any sudden touch, no matter who it was from, or how gently meant — the shorter Faunus hugged her back; arms wrapping around the redhead’s waist because it was the easiest to reach.

(Absolutely Not also because he liked the feel of Ruby’s tail against his fingertips when it wagged, who would dare make such a baseless accusation?!) Comfortably resting his head against his partner’s left shoulder, the Solitas Fox split his attention between her words and the sound of her heartbeat; quicker than usual, but still intensely grounding. “…I’ve never been bowling,” Weiss began after a long moment to order his thoughts, “but from what I’ve heard — ” (read: researched) “ — it’s loud and bright and crowded, so.

“I would prefer we not do that for our first date. Dinner and a stroll in the park sounds lovely.” A pause; another long moment of thought, then, “If you are set on bowling, however, I ask that we go at the least busy an crowded time, and that we only play one game.” Much as he tried to hide his discomfort with that option, one of his clearest tells was when his speech became even more stilted and awkward — something that very rarely happened around his Team, and especially not Ruby, these days.

(Jaune and Nora provoked it the easiest of Team JNPR, while it was easier to lower his walls slightly with Ren and Pyrrha. Anyone else aside from Winter (and sometimes General Ironwood because of Winter) received stilted, stiffly perfect and polite etiquette as default.) And while it was preposterous to think Ruby would mind, or take it personally, after all this time… Weiss still couldn’t help hoping that she wouldn’t mind. Trauma responses were hard to unlearn, after all.

Winter said therapy helped; Weiss wasn’t so sure.

After departing the Ever After and expressing their heartfelt thanks to the Fantastic Four—Team RWBY still reeling from meeting actual superheroes—Jaune, Wanda, the kids, and the girls boarded the X-Velocity, a sleek black jet with chrome accents and quiet, humming engines. It sliced cleanly through the clouds, en route to the Xavier Institute.

The flight was quiet, the girls mostly gazing out the windows in awe as the Earth unfolded beneath them—so similar to Remnant in some ways, yet unmistakably alien in others. Skyscrapers gleamed like glass daggers in the sun, forests stretched out in uninterrupted green, and oceans sparkled a purer blue than any of them had ever seen.

When the X-Velocity finally descended into one of the Institute’s hidden landing bays—its entrance concealed within a rocky cliffside camouflaged by high-tech projections—RWBY’s eyes widened as the jet smoothly glided into its berth.

“Whoa…” Yang muttered, peering out the canopy. “Okay, this beats any airship Atlas ever built.”

As the hatch opened with a hiss, and the group stepped out onto the landing platform, the girls paused again—this time in stunned silence.

Standing at the far end of the hangar, waiting with warm smiles and outstretched arms, were the X-Men. Logan, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Kitty, Storm, Jubilee, Bobby, and others stood side by side like an extended family that had been holding their breath, waiting to exhale.

“Uncle Kurt!” Magnolia shouted, immediately breaking into a run with Anna close behind.

The two children dashed toward their “aunts” and “uncles,” laughter echoing off the metal walls as they were swept into joyful hugs. Wanda followed at a slower pace, a relieved, emotional smile playing across her face as she watched her children disappear into the arms of people she trusted.

Jaune remained behind, standing in front of the jet, hands on his hips as he took it all in. His eyes softened. This was home.

Team RWBY stood beside him now, still taking everything in.

Ruby leaned toward him, eyes flicking over the colorful group of mutants embracing the kids. “So… who are they?”

Jaune smiled. “My family,” he said simply. “Come on, I’ll introduce you,”

As they walked forward, two figures broke away from the group and strode over—one with confident, even strides and ruby-colored glasses, the other with icy poise and diamond-cut elegance.

“Scott, Emma,” Jaune greeted, smiling as he pulled Scott into a quick, brotherly hug.

“Looks like everything turned out alright,” Scott said, glancing past Jaune to where the children were laughing with Rogue and Kitty. “The kids are safe?”

Jaune nodded. “Yeah, they’re okay, they were scared, but they were brave,” He turned to Emma, his expression more serious. “Though just in case… would you mind checking?”

Emma’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “You’re always so cautious, Jaune, but of course,” she said, brushing a platinum strand behind her ear. “I’ll take a look, though from the sound of things, they’ve handled it better than most other children would,”

Then her gaze shifted—landing on the four young women lingering just behind Jaune. Her eyebrow arched, and a wicked smirk tugged at the corners of her lips.

“Jaune,” Emma said, cocking her head, “don’t tell me you’ve added even more wives to your collection, and younger ones, no less... Should Wanda and Rogue be worried?”

“Ha ha ha,” Jaune deadpanned, fixing Emma with a dry glare before allowing a crooked smirk to form on his lips. “I’m dying of laughter,"

He gestured behind him with a nod, voice softening. “These four are Ruby, Weiss, Yang, and Blake, my friends from my world. From Remnant.”

The playful atmosphere shifted slightly as both Scott and Emma shared a glance. Their expressions turned more serious, curiosity mingling with a touch of concern.

Scott tilted his head. “Wait—Reed managed to open a portal back to Remnant?”

Jaune shook his head. “Not exactly,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “It wasn’t Remnant, the place we found them in was called the Ever After—some sort of parallel realm connected to Remnant, but... not quite the same,”

Emma crossed her arms, one perfectly sculpted brow arched. “A metaphysical pocket dimension, perhaps?” she mused. “Reed would love that,”

“Yeah, Reed said the Ever After had a similar energy signature to Remnant, same cosmic thread, or whatever tech speak he used," Jaune replied. "He thinks if he can trace the resonance between the two, he might be able to pinpoint Remnant’s location in the multiverse,”

“So he’s close?” Scott asked.

Jaune’s expression turned hopeful. “Closer than we’ve ever been, he’s running tests now," Jaune replied. "If anyone can find Remnant, it’s Reed,”

Emma gave a small hum of approval. “Well, I suppose if we’re adding interdimensional travelers to our extended family, at least they’re stylish,”

Behind Jaune, Weiss gave a polite scoff. “Obviously,”

Yang grinned. “Still waiting on the introductions, blondie,” she teased Jaune, nudging his shoulder.

Jaune chuckled. “Right, right, come on, let’s not keep everyone guessing,”

Jaune led Team RWBY through the gathering of mutants, the group parting slightly as the girls stepped into view. The atmosphere buzzed with curiosity—dozens of powerful individuals watching them with interest, yet not a hint of hostility in their eyes.

Stopping in the center of the room, Jaune turned to face everyone and gestured proudly to the girls beside him.

“Everyone, I want you to meet Team RWBY, they’re old friends of mine from Remnant,” he announced, his voice carrying clearly. He motioned to each girl in turn. “This is Ruby Rose,"

Ruby gave an enthusiastic wave, her silver eyes bright. “Hi! It’s really nice to meet you all!”

“Weiss Schnee,” Jaune pointed at.

Weiss gave a polite, reserved smile and a small nod. “Pleasure.”

Jaune then pointed at Blake, “Blake Belladonna,”

Blake gave an awkward little wave. “Hello.”

“And fianlly, Yang Xiao-Long,” Jaune finished.

Yang placed her hands on her hips, flashing a cocky grin. “Sup, love the outfits, by the way, real superhero-core,”

Several X-Men chuckled, and Jaune let out a laugh of his own.

“And these are the X-Men, my family,” he said, turning to the mutants now gathered behind him. He pointed to a tall man with a commanding presence and a sleek red visor over his eyes. “That’s Scott Summers, Cyclops, leader and the guy with the world's most dangerous stare,”

Scott gave a polite nod. “Welcome,”

“Next to him is Emma Frost—our brilliant telepath, and the Institute’s unofficial sugar mama,” He smirked.

Emma gave Jaune a dry look, her arms folded across her white-clad form. “Flattery will only get you so far, Arc,”

Yang leaned in toward Weiss. “Did he say sugar mama?”

“I heard it too,” Weiss muttered.

Jaune let out a warm laugh at Emma’s teasing, shaking his head before continuing the introductions.

“Alright, next up—someone who’s probably the nicest guy you’ll ever meet and can disappear before you finish a sentence,” Jaune said, sweeping an arm toward the blue-skinned man standing off to the side with a gentle smile and glowing golden eyes. “This is Kurt Wagner—or as he prefers to be known, the amazing Nightcrawler! Our resident teleporter and part-time circus philosopher,”

Kurt gave a slight bow, his three-fingered hands clasped together in front of him. “Guten Tag,” he said warmly, his thick German accent carrying a lyrical cadence. “It is an honor to meet friends of Jaune’s,”

Blake tilted her head, visibly intrigued. “Your voice... it’s really soothing.”

Yang grinned. “And the tail is way cooler than I expected,”

Kurt chuckled softly, flicking his spade-tipped tail in a playful curl. “It has its uses,”

“After him,” Jaune continued, pointing to a young woman with short brown hair and sharp eyes, “we have Kitty Pryde—aka Shadowcat, don’t let her size fool you, she can phase through solid walls, scramble tech, and walk out of locked rooms like they were never locked to begin with!”

Kitty gave a wave and a mischievous grin. “Hey! Welcome to our little corner of the multiverse, don’t worry, it only looks like a superhero boarding school, you’ll get used to it,”

Jaune smirked as he turned and gestured to a broad-shouldered man leaning against the wall, arms crossed, with a perpetually unimpressed expression and sideburns that practically screamed grizzled veteran.

“And over here, we’ve got our resident grump—Logan, also known as The Wolverine,” Jaune said, his voice laced with playful sarcasm. “Don’t worry—he’s all bark,”

Logan let out a low, gravelly hum that sounded like it was carved from stone. “Don’t listen to him,” he said with a small, dangerous smirk. “I do bite, and I’ve got the scars to prove it.”

Ruby blinked. “Wait, you’re Wolverine? Like, the guy with the claws?”

Logan raised his hand, and with a slick snikt, three adamantium claws extended from between his knuckles with a metallic glint.

Yang’s eyes widened. “Oh, that’s badass!”

Weiss took a tiny step back. “Remind me not to get on your bad side.”

“You’re on the list now, princess,” Logan said, the corner of his mouth twitching in amusement.

Jaune laughed. “Don’t worry, he says that to everyone, he’ll warm up to you eventually... Might take a decade or two though,”

Moving on quickly before Logan could retort, Jaune turned and gestured with an open hand to a tall, regal woman who carried herself like royalty wrapped in a thundercloud.

“And here,” Jaune said, a touch more respectful in his tone, “is Ororo Munroe—Storm, master of weather, goddess in a few parts of the world, and the only one here who can end an argument with a literal lightning bolt,”

Ororo raised an eyebrow and folded her arms, her long white hair flowing like a silk banner down her back. “Careful, Jaune,” she said with a teasing smile. “Keep talking like that and I will zap you,”

Jaune put his hands up in mock surrender. “See? Absolute power,” Jaune said.

As the laughter and introductions began to settle, Jaune glanced toward the far end of the courtyard—and his expression softened. A hush seemed to fall over the gathering as a familiar, dignified figure in a sleek, high-tech wheelchair glided silently into view.

“And then there's this man,” Jaune said, stepping to the side with a tone that held both deep respect and genuine affection, “I want you girls to meet the man who made all of this possible, the reason any of us have a place to belong, this is Charles Xavier—Professor X, the heart of the X-Men... and the one who gave us all a home,”

The moment Charles approached, the crowd seemed to instinctively give him space, not out of fear or obligation, but reverence. His presence was calm, measured, yet commanding in the quietest way.

Professor Xavier looked up at the four young women standing beside Jaune, his kind eyes filled with warmth and curiosity. His hands rested gently on the arms of his chair as he spoke.

“It’s a true pleasure to meet all of you,” he said, his voice as smooth and steady as silk. “Jaune has told me a great deal about your courage, your strength, and the world you come from, you’ve clearly endured much—and yet here you are, still standing, still strong,”

Ruby, momentarily taken aback by the presence of the man she could sense held a quiet, immense power, stepped forward and offered her hand. “It’s an honor to meet you, sir, thank you for letting us be here,”

Charles took her hand in both of his, his smile never wavering. “You’re most welcome, Ruby, any friend of Jaune’s is a friend of ours,”

“I think y’all are forgettin’ someone,” drawled a voice from behind them, smooth and unmistakably southern.

Jaune and the girls turned around, curiosity sparking in their eyes—only for Jaune’s face to immediately light up as Rogue sauntered toward them, hips swaying, arms crossed, and a playful smirk tugging at her lips.

“Rogue,” Jaune said with a grin that softened into something more tender. “Trust me, I don’t think I could ever forget about you,”

“You better not, sugar,” she teased, stepping right up to him and rising onto her toes to press a quick, affectionate kiss to his lips.

The room went dead silent for a second—until:

“WHOA! Way to go, VB!” Yang hollered, her eyebrows shooting up and a grin stretching across her face. “Did not see that coming!”

“Jaune!” Weiss cried, her voice somewhere between scandalized and stunned. “You’re a married man! What are you doing kissing another woman?!”

Rogue turned to Weiss, utterly unbothered, and raised her left hand with a wink, flashing a simple but unmistakable wedding band. “Damn right he is,” she said with a grin. “To me,”

Team RWBY collectively froze.

Ruby blinked. “Wait, but… the kids? Wanda? Didn’t she—?”

“I did,” came Wanda’s voice as she calmly approached the group, her soft smile only adding to the confusion. She stepped in beside Jaune and Rogue, her children trailing just behind her like little ducklings. “Jaune’s married to me, yes—but he’s also married to Rogue,”

There was a beat of silence as the girls tried to process that.

Blake furrowed her brow, utterly baffled. “So… both of you are married to him?”

“Mm-hm,” Wanda replied, her smile never faltering. “It’s a shared marriage, we support and love each other equally, it may not be traditional, but it works for us.”

“Better than workin’, it’s been great,” Rogue added, throwing a wink Jaune’s way as she leaned on his shoulder.

Jaune just shrugged, his grin sheepish. “Remnant didn’t exactly prepare me for this kind of domestic life, but… it’s grown on me.,

Weiss looked like she was about to faint. Yang looked like she wanted popcorn. Ruby had her hands on her cheeks in shock, and Blake just stood there, eyes narrowed, trying to calculate how any of this made sense.

“Okay,” Weiss finally said. “This place just keeps getting weirder,”

“Welcome to Earth,” Rogue said with a playful smirk. “Y’all better buckle up,”
